Lezioni di chimica, la serie che riporta Brie Larson in tv dopo United States of Tara, su Apple Tv+, per raccontare in modo avvincente e dolce la storia della scienziata Elizabeth Zott che riuscì ad unire chimica e cucina negli anni '60.

The Bear ci ha insegnato che cucina e salute mentale possono andare a braccetto e sono spesso co-dipendenti l'una dall'altra. C'è una nuova serie che potrebbe farvi scoprire che lo stesso vale per cucina e scienza. Ne parleremo nella recensione di Lezioni di chimica, limited series in otto episodi con protagonista la Captain Marvel Brie Larson su Apple Tv+, che conferma ancora una volta la qualità produttiva del servizio streaming e il suo riuscire a raccontare storie così diverse sempre in modo accattivante e coinvolgente, tanto dal punto di vista della scrittura quanto da quello della messa in scena.

Lezioni di chimica: Brie Larson in una scena

Lezioni di chimica è basata sul romanzo best-seller omonimo della scrittrice, editrice scientifica e copywriter Bonnie Garmus, adattato per la tv da Lee Eisenberg - già creatore per la piattaforma di WeCrashed e Little America, nonché di Hello Ladies per HBO e Jury Duty per Freeve. Il suo sguardo cinico, nonsense eppure incredibilmente dolce è facilmente ritrovabile in questa nuova miniserie, che riporta in tv Brie Larson 12 anni dopo United States of Tara, ben prima che salvasse l'universo insieme agli Avengers nel MCU e fosse prigioniera di un sequestratore abusivo sul grande schermo, qui anche produttrice insieme a Susannah Grant e Jason Bateman.

Lezioni di chimica: una foto di scena

Siamo negli anni '60 e Larson è Elizabeth Zott, una tecnica di laboratorio in una prestigiosa università, che sogna di concludere il proprio dottorato e diventare una scienziata a tutti gli effetti agli occhi dei colleghi maschi. Quella in cui si trova infatti non è una società patriarcale solamente nella vita quotidiana e personale ma anche e soprattutto in quella lavorativa. Reduce da una brutta esperienza che non le ha permesso di continuare la specializzazione, è costretta a lavorare in un laboratorio dove è più intelligente dei suoi colleghi uomini eppure deve fare loro da assistente e preparare il caffè, senza poter eseguire nessun esperimento da sola… almeno durante l'orario lavorativo.

Gli opposti si attraggono

Un'immagine della serie Lezioni di chimica

Elizabeth, tratteggiata in modo perfetto da Brie Larson, è divisa a metà tra il proprio carattere non sempre sociale e socievole (un po' Amy Farrah-Fowler), il rifiuto per ciò che è ritenuto adatto ad una donna nella società americana di Mad Men, e il voler essere parte di quel mondo che tanto pare disprezzare, dopotutto. Una possibile occasione fortuita sarà l'incontro con Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick, Outer Range), che interpreta Calvin Evans, uno scienziato altrettanto particolare, dedito alla forma fisica che preferisce correre per andare e venire dal laboratorio, facendosi la doccia direttamente lì, che non capisce il senso della discriminazione di genere nei confronti della collega. Nella chimica si dice che gli opposti si attraggono e chissà se questo varrà anche per Elizabeth e Calvin, ma anche per la protagonista e gli altri personaggi che popolano il suo colorato mondo.

Lezioni di chimica: un momento della serie

Un ricco e variegato cast interpretato da Stephanie Koenig (L'assistente di volo, The Offer), Kevin Sussman (l'ex Stuart di The Big Bang Theory), Patrick Walker (Gaslit, Gli ultimi giorni di Tolomeo Grey) e Thomas Mann (Winning Time: L'ascesa della dinastia dei Lakers). Abbiamo detto colorato non a caso, perché - come spesso su Apple Tv+ che sembra essere la nuova HBO in tal senso - c'è un'enorme attenzione nella ricostruzione delle scenografie e nella cura dei colori pastello, tenui e uniformi, che devono rappresentare non solo la società dell'epoca, ma anche il laboratorio, che risulterà tutt'altro che freddo agli occhi del pubblico. O ancora i quartieri fatti di abitazioni una uguale all'altra, con giardino annesso, in cui vivono i personaggi. Compresa Harriet Sloane, interpretata dalla vincitrice del NAACP Image Award Aja Naomi King (Le regole del delitto perfetto, Il risveglio di un popolo), che rappresenta il lato black della tematica discriminatoria che viene raccontata attraverso la scienza.

Scienza e fede o chimica e cucina?

Un momento della serie Lezioni di chimica

Se il binomio che ha popolato la serialità dai primi anni 2000 (ovvero post-Lost) fino ad oggi è stato quello dedicato a scienza e fede, negli ultimi anni ci si è occupati di salute mentale nelle più svariate risonanze e abbinamenti. Ma se vi dicessimo che chimica (e quindi scienza) e cucina (e quindi arte) non sono antitetiche ma anzi complementari? Una delle caratteristiche peculiari del riuscito personaggio di Elizabeth è l'essere appassionata anche di cousine ed essere piuttosto brava. Anche perché, in fondo, le ricette altro non sono che un insieme di leggi scientifiche applicate in cucina. Ed è questo il mix vincente di Lezioni di chimica, che unisce umanità, scienza, sentimenti, colpi di scena inaspettati, la critica di una società patriarcale senza voler essere didascalici. Uno sguardo dolce e intimo su una figura femminile che arriverà nelle abitazioni di tutte le casalinghe d'America attraverso un programma che, insegnando ricette, svelerà loro in realtà le leggi della chimica e, perché no, anche qualche utile lezione di vita.

Conclusioni

Abbiamo parlato di una società patriarcale che non ha i colori dell’oppressione ma quelli della speranza. Questo perché il viaggio della protagonista Elizabeth Zott, interpretata da un’azzeccata Brie Larson, è pieno di sorprese, a volte drammatiche a volte divertenti, e la porterà nel salotto di molte case americane pronta a mescolare sapientemente conoscenze scientifiche, velleità culinarie e un pizzico di carisma per ricordarci che non tutte le ciambelle riescono col buco, soprattutto nella vita, e che per fare una frittata bisogna necessariamente rompere qualche uovo.

How Many Players Are Participating In Zim Afro T10 2023

Afro T10 is an upcoming T10 cricket league that will be played in Harare, Zimbabwe, starting on 20th July 2023. The league is owned by T10 Sports Management and is organised in association with ZC or Zimbabwe Cricket (previously known as the Zimbabwe Cricket Union).

It follows the T10 cricket format; each team plays ten overs and the match lasts approximately 90 minutes. The inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 2023, will feature five teams; Bulawayo Braves, Harare Hurricanes, Durban Qalandars, Joburg Buffaloes, and Cape Town Samp Army. Be prepared to see their names across all Cricket News channels!
