Not emotionally prepared for this Strictly final. Already bawling my eyes out and its only Chris's first dance. Going to be an absolute wreck by the end of the programme! C'mon Chris, you can do it, lift that Glitterball!!

With the Strictly final here and Layton and Nikita doing their quickstep again, I thought it a good time to reblog this animation I did!

Puttin’ on the ritz - Good Omens version

When I saw Layton and Nikita dancing the quickstep to ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’ on Strictly come dancing in their beige and black trousers, my mind wandered to Good Omens, (naturally). So by the time the dance finished, all I could see was Aziraphale and Crowley dancing and having the time of their lives. Which gave me an idea. 

So, with nearly 400 individually drawn and coloured frames later using the rotoscoping technique, edited using free programs and an embarrassing amount of hours of work. (I have a new found respect for animators now!) here is my silly little animation! I hope you enjoy and it puts a smile on your face!

I may tidy it up in the future, or I might leave it as it is… I’m working on 4 or 5 animatics at the moment so we’ll see. Haha! Too many ideas, not enough time!

i was genuinely killed by the fact kabru's real name being "unknown" is due to him not being able to remember how his mother used to call him. and now i can't stop thinking about this child trying so hard to remember his loved ones only to have the most grotesque images come to mind. as we read the manga the only glimpses of his life in utaya we get to see are those tragic moments when he lost everything, and i find it interesting that the first time us readers get to know of his past at all is through him being triggered by food.

but then we get to chapters 61-62 and for the first time during the story, he mentions the memory of something other than the horrors- and in direct parallel to earlier in the manga, it's a dish his mother used to cook. the guy who is shown to have a hard time taking care of himself in his pursuit of his goals is forced to focus on someone else's wellbeing which also results in him making more effort for his own sake as well, and so in an attempt to care for and comfort someone else he ends up trying to recreate one of the few fond memories he has left. and it's so simple; the memory of a child and mother sharing a meal together. it's so incredibly sad but also comforting, hopeful in a way- her voice, her touch, her face, they're all out of reach now. he may never remember his mother lovingly calling his name. but there is one thing he can surely still feel even all these years later: the taste of the food she worked so hard to make and put on the table. and it's not just him. through senshi and marcille as well as other characters, we see it time and time again. how among many other things, food is also a way to preserve your home. to preserve your love.

Layton Williams & Nikita Kuzmin || Strictly Come Dancing 2023

currently ruminating on the thought that Donald Duck is canonically on the same level of magical power as Bahamut from Final Fantasy, in the sense that they can both cast Zettaflare- the most powerful version of Flare by far. Mathematically speaking, this spell surpasses Terraflare, the spell that devastated Eorzea and can wipe an entire party of warriors whose only hope of survival is the use of a full Limit Break. Goofy's worried plea and Mickey's fraught expression also point to the idea that Donald has cast Zettaflare at least once prior to using it on Terranort.

Now, mind you, a duel between these two would ultimately end in the wyrm's favor, but it's certainly something fascinating to ponder.

Context for who Doctor Peculiar is in the comics (why, yes, the entire purpose of bringing him into the story despite this being a short cameo is 1) an Easter egg reference, and 2) to foreshadow Billy’s plan for SwingWing and—by extension—Tek Knight in this chapter for the last scene in the chapter involving Butcher’s superhero debut/ his “surprise bday gift” for Homelander’s July 4th birthday special):
