Sometimes when you are trying to find a movie to watch you can spend more time searching than you actually do watching the movie. Sometimes you may be in the mood for a comedy or a horror movie or a good family movie. But sometimes you just want to let loose, have some fun, and just see what happens. The same thing can be said when you play a game. Some times you just want to go in, not really…
Honestly, I just hate how Lis1 has like, what, 3 games now? And along with True Colors has DlCs, comic books, and huge attention from both fans and developers, while Lis2 (which I personally think is the best one of them all) gets almost zero attention and never grew beyond a single 5-episode game.
And also how this is largely because a lot of people just refuse to actually PLAY the game, and prefer to simply hate on it instead, because it's not a story about a teenage girl with superpowers
So this has been bouncing around in my head for a WHILE (aka: a couple days) now but your lights out au kinda reminds me of a game that came out recently called "my friendly neighborhood" (really good game btw, highly recommend to either play or watch a playthrough) bc the plot is literally "puppets are just alive in this universe muppet-style & after their show got canceled they all got locked in their show's studio for a decade or so & went slightly mad bc of it". There's a whole bunch of differences, obviously, but mainly I just thought it'd be interesting if the player character, a grumpy-but-lovable handyman who's also a war vet that has Seen Some Shit, ended up at the playfellow studio in this au for one reason or another (maybe he was asked to go in & check that the electricity all still works correctly?). Idk how the puppets would react to his arrival, but at least he's got some practice handling aggressive (or overly enthusiastic) puppets who haven't seen a real, live human in years.
i've been meaning to watch a playthrough for a week now T¬T i remember watching the demo and being immediately So Fucking Hyped for the game's release
if i were interested in crossovers, i'd probably be all over that! unfortunately, they're not really my wheelhouse </3
"It may come as a surprise to you that a physicist could even contemplate the existence of paranormal phenomena."
"But you admit to the possibility."
"I admit the possibility of the unknown. I admit that science is only beginning to understand its own discoveries. But I do not believe in evil spirits or painted phantoms in windows."
More progress being made. I finished re-reading The Illusion of Living this past Friday. It's a nice book. 👍
This was the last of the Bendy books in this "marathon" that I'm doing which I had already read previously and now I'm rereading, meaning that I'm kind of up to date when it comes to rereading all the books that were released until December 2021. But the race is not over yet. Soon I'll start Fade To Black, and (technically) I'll finally be up to date.
Just to continue my chain of posting about the books I finished (at least, the main ones that I really wanted to read) here it is…something I did at the beginning of March, on the night when shit went down. (I hope you know what I'm talking about).
I saw the tweets first hand, I was there! Right at the damn moment. And it was..something reading those tweets alright. If the image above doesn't show it, my mood that night and the next 1-2 days wasn't so… great. You might read this and think I'm exaggerating, but that night especially I, uuhhh, I didn't feel good! And this image (and maybe 2 more posts I made that night) are the results of that. (And to think that a week before this happened, I had finished rereading DCTL after a long time. Talk about better/worse timing than this)
At least, if you want the bright side of this, it's that even after that day, I decided to continue with my book marathon, and I don't regret it. I was down that day, but I wasn't out yet damn it!! and I'm still not. (I don't know if this sentence makes a lot of sense, but you get my point)
As a bonus, here's something I did the night I got to the part where Henry is first mentioned in the book (you can consider this as a representation of my reaction when he's first mentioned, both for when I read TIOL for the first time in 2021, as now in this rereading)
Feat. canon Henry design and my fanon design for him (I wanted to include him here + I still read this book with my fan-designs in mind)
Strange Gaming Diaries: Dreaming Sarah (& Wishing Sarah), by Asteristic Game Studio
read the new diary entry on my website here!
I love it when a game proudly and explicitly calls itself "inspired by yume nikki" so I have yet another opportunity to talk about my favorite video game. the two games themselves are a bit of a mixed bag—unsurprising given the well they're drawing from—but it gives me the perfect chance to talk about surreal themes in games, and why "there is a big eyeball and it is staring at you" does not the style of yume nikki make
I just learn that my cousin - who works in the video game - works for the studio that created my two favorites games of all times aka Life is Strange and Tell Me Why (and both were streamed by my favorite twitcher aka Ranboo).
