The King of Fighters '96
So happy Mature and Vice are gonna be in KOF again, finally! Here's the best sax piece in KOF history to celebrate, the arranged version from their debut game. Composed and arranged by Shinsekai Gakkyoku Zatsugidan.
It doesn't get any better than this. The saxiest sax to ever sax.

Hideki Hisoki Tsukii
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Neka
2. Neka
"An adopted son of the Tsukii Family. This boy is very secretive of what he does for a living."
"Those who had gain his trust learned the horrors he had faced growing up."
Trigger Warning: Near Death experience, near strangulation, child abuse, abusive parents
Tumblr media
Full name: Hideki Hisoki Tsukii
Gender: Male
Age: in his early to mid 20s
Sexuality: He is bisexual
Species: Human but he does not act human
Personality: Hideki is something. He is very secretive and mysterious. He is very intimidating due to his aura and that look in his eyes. He had a hard time opening up to people due to his trauma. He is actually a gentle giant who does not like hurting anyone he loves but I will be very careful with him. He is known to be unpredictable when it came to certain days or events that trigger his trauma and he is always carried that bloodied machete.
Likes: Oddly enough isolation from his pasts, horror movies at 3am, tattoos, piercings, children, animals, sweet food, boba tea, blood moon, watching criminal discoveries, daydreaming, certain aesthetics, rain(bitch play in the rain), stormy weather, he likes tea and coffee only made by his loved ones, homecooked meals, late night driving, trying new food and drinks
Dislikes: bitter food, strangers interrupted his isolations, very large crowds, thinking about his dead parents, bright colors, he does not like traumacore, mentions of the incident involved him, He hates the heat, he does not like it when someone unknown to him touch his stuff without permission, being force to talk, not being able to daydream
Favorite Food: He is not very picky but he loves Kurayami's version of chicken katsu curry and Tsukii's version of onigiri and Unagi no Kabayaki
Least Favorite Food: He has two least favorite foods. Tofu and Natto
Pet Peeves: He hates it when a person tried to be invasive to his conversations with others, he hate it when liars tried to victimized themselves, over clingy people, pick me girls or boys
Hobbies: he plays a fiddle and saxophone, he loves to read and listen to music, he loves dancing and singing with his family(even though his voice is eerily enchanting and angelic, he just don't like singing in front of others)
Talents: [Second Pic]His uncovered eye glowed when he sense a lie(dimmed if he sense a half truth/half lie and normal if he sense a truth), both of his eyes will have no pupils if he went to kills, he is scarily sneaky killer and he knows how to cover up his tracks, he kinda acts like Jason Voorhees, Arlecchino and Diluc
Nickname(s): Kiki(Family only), Hidoki(Kurayami), little Hidey(Alekdama)
Voice Claims: Ehh. His voice is a combination of Diluc, Dottore and Ayato's voices(perfectly combine but its more..well.)
Trivia:
He was known as Shadow Slasher due to his kills happen at only nighttime
He was responsible of the murder and disappearance of his 'parents'
He was given a black mask from Tsukii to cover his mouth
He was horribly abuse by his biological parents growing up(He snapped when he nearly die by strangulation with a rope by his own biological mother)
He is one of the selective mute boys but he does talk
His voice is deep, husky and even raspy when he talks
His pet and familiar is a black dove named Crimson Autumn
He growls when he attacks someone
He was adopted into the Tsukii family at age 12
His birthday is February 19th(Pisces)
His slashes is like arlecchino and Diluc's but more violent
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fun Fact: His theme songs is The Haunting by Set it Off and Brainwash and Flesh both made by Simeon Curtis

Reflections: Cillian Murphy’s Limited Edition
Season 3, episode 5
✨also magnificently late✨
———————————————————————
*I am a music prof (predominantly classical vocalist), and I LOVE listening to Cillian’s music choices! That being said, sometimes I won’t like a song simply because of a vocalist (it’s a professional hazard - sorry!) 👩‍🏫
** The following are my own observations/opinions. We may not agree, and that’s ok! That’s what makes music fun! 😊
*** I wouldn’t say I’m well-versed in Cillian’s music preferences, but I do enjoy them (for the most part). I always wind up adding to my own playlists after listening to Cillian’s recommendations.
———————————————————————
The episode…
🎵Set 1 (Cross Talk I - Auntie’s Lock/Infinitum)
Cross Talk I: this sounds like the technology of my childhood 👵🏻
Soaring X: the instrumental track reminds me of something (specifically the 3 note motif) and I can’t for the life of me remember what it sounds like! Ahhh!!!! Also, I love this! It’s always so interesting to me how a tremolo (the fast repeated notes) can be so effective and moving when the technique itself is so simple.
Auntie’s Lock/Infinitum: … when the melody is basically the Westminster chimes 😳😅😂 wasn’t expecting that!
🎤Talking Break
Thanks for the date info! 😂😂😂
“”Luxury loving Librans”
An ident! 😳😂
… sir. I didn’t need to know that about spiders 😖😖😖
“Do your bit”- yes. Please wash your hands
Why is he so into uninteresting facts?? 😅
Yay! Someone told him the name of the film!!!
🎵Set 2 (All Change - Excess Success)
All Change: the intro sound effects specifically remind me of the jump/crisscross sections of the Cha Cha Slide 😅🤦‍♀️ now it is cool how things get more distorted towards the end! Unsettling, but neat.
it’s been a long week please don’t judge me for my idiocy 😅😂
Apothecary: I’m listening to all the woodwinds in the background. Interesting timbres.
Excess Success: it’s both cute and driving. Idk how that works, but it does!
🎤Talking Break
“Oh yes! Some music from Cork. Where I’m from…”
Reflection inspired tangentially by Elaine’s comments - I’ve noticed so many ppl are afraid to sing. It’s a part of us, so of course it’s personal. Either way, please sing. It’s worth it.
🎵Set 3 (To the Test - somehow she’s still here)
To the Test: chill and atmospheric. 😎
InFLUX: a weird distorted saxophone background. Again, I’m convinced this is one of Cillian’s favorite instruments! I really like the vocals here. And then halfway through everything changes! 🙀 surprise twist!
Somehow she’s still here: soulful! Gorgeous vocals!
🎤Talking Break
More Irish music!
“Cracker of an album”
🎵Set 4 (All of the People)
All of the People: while not my fave vocal style, I do like this (and Fontaines DC). Instrumentals are beautiful *dreamy sigh*
🎤Talking Break:
Oh dear… he manifested a poetry reading 😂😂😂😂
A stormy Brooklyn!
Plateau: the background track is trippy! I am immersed!
🎵 Set 5 (Le Jardin - Sorrowful Soil)
Le Jardin: I feel like I’m in a National Geographic special omg! 🙀 but the cute piano piece is a great addition! It really feels like I’m in the garden and I’m listening to someone play from the garden window. It’s also cool that the piano portion follows the “rustic” or pastoral trope of the pedal point. It’s meant to evoke bagpipes/pipes (not limited to Scotland but of course heavily associated with the country). The lilting melody on top just adds to the pastoral trope. And then the garden atmosphere gets all synth and I go “what???” 😅 this one’s got a bit of everything! 😂
XII: I love that he enjoys instrumental music. Lots of interesting timbres - some brass and woodwinds.
I’ll Stay Here Now: it’s all whooshy like the music’s being played backwards. 😊
Sorrowful Soil: this is so angular! I know I should pay attention to the lyrics, but I’m only paying attention to the musical lines. It’s reminding me of VERY early (medieval) musical lines, but put in the electronic timbres of today.
🎤Talking Break:
“That was Bjork, of course!”
I should check out the podcast. I’m not a huge Bjork fan, but it sounds cool!
Idk how or why, but I always enjoy music from Iceland. I’ve never even been there!
The ident…
GEORGE HARRISON IS MY FAVORITE BEATLE
I still need to watch Living in the Material World… 😅
I LOVE GET BACK
Side note - I’m convinced Cillian’s favorite Beatle is John.
🎵 Set 6 (I Can Feel It)
I Can Feel It: I am dancing and having so much fun!!! 💃
🎤Talking Break
The shortest break EVER.
🎵Set 7 (Inglan is a Bitch)
Inglan: all I can say is OOF. This song packs a punch! 😅
🎤Talking Break
No Cill, he’s not more interesting. Promise. 😂😂😂
Cohen covers ❤️
🎵Set 8 (Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye - What About Now)
Hey: I love Roberta! ❤️❤️❤️
I Shall Not Be Moved: I think tambourine should be in more songs.
Description of People Get Ready: I love gospel!
People Get Ready: ok, for so many personal reasons, I love this song and it’s message! “You just thaaaank the Lord!”
What About Now: I’m feeling so much ‘60s teenage rebellion. 😎 vocals aren’t that strong, but the drums sure do cover a lot of that! Perhaps a Bob Dylan inspired vocal quality! The whine is on point.
🎤Talking Break:
“Great name for a band”
Disco!
“Does this qualify as disco?”
🎵Set 9 (Dee Tour - Genshi)
Dee Tour: fun and girly and so retro! Also… FLUTE SOLO! 😎
Genshi: I looooove the opening. Which is funny because it’s so monotone, but the repeating rhythms are cool 👍 and then you have other lines show up. It’s just a groovy little piece!
🎤Talking Break
“Do work, or tidy the kitchen, or think about composting, things like that”
Kinda a cover?
🎵Set 10 (Goodbye Pork Pie Hat)
Goodbye Pork Pie Hat: more sax! The ding and other sound effects are so strange to me. Like… why? I feel like I’m missing context here. The pedal board lyrics are so “whoa”
🎤Talking Break
GEORGE HARRISON 😍😍😍😍
Yeah George - biggest solo album!!!
ARCHIVE OF GEORGE!!!!
I’m so proud of him for not cussing in this interview because I know he wanted to 😂
🎵Set 11 (Awaiting on You All - One Woman)
Awaiting On You All: not my fave George solo song, but you can’t deny it’s groovy!! His personal style could be haunting, beautiful, or kinda schmaltzy early rock ish. And all wrapped up in a quiet, sassy personality! 😂😅
One Woman: ooohhh this soulful, soulful song! ❤️ gorgeous vocals.
🎤Talking Break
I’m with you, Cill, regarding Al Green
Noooo don’t go!
Jazz! Yussss 😎
“Played this loudly in the kitchen last week”
“Mind yourselves”
🎵Set 12 (Pastoral - Memories of Edith Johnson)
Pastoral - ok, I could go music nerd again on the pastoral genre, but I won’t. Once is enough. But I do like the harp! Such a sweet sound.
Desillusion: yep! Definitely some jazz! 😎 powerful piano. It keeps sloooowly getting more complex as the song goes along. The bass and drums are also getting it! I’m gonna have to look up this trio.
Memories of Edith Johnson: so I looked her up and Edith was a silent film actress. It now makes sense why Cillian likes this. The organ and sax are fun together. The “oooohs” I can do without.
Fin

King Crimson Releases Hybridized Live-Studio Version of “One More Red Nightmare”
Splicing a vintage studio recording into a modern stage performance, King Crimson producer Alex “Stormy” Mundy created a hybridized rendition of “One More Red Nightmare.”
Using the July 18, 2018, rendition as his template, Mundy overdubbed the original John Wetton vocals from the 1974 Red sessions and stuck Ian McDonald’s in-studio saxophone licks in the channel opposite of Mel Collins’ live recreation.
“Mel is panned right and Ian is panned left,” Mundy said in a statement.
“I had to edit John slightly to fit the live version, but they certainly have played it very close to the studio tempo, and of course, the tuning is the same. The same with Ian, gently moving him to match.”
It was likely great fun for the producer to create. And though it’s not entirely necessary, this “timestream(ed)” Franken-song is similarly a gas for listeners.

Between 1917 and 1943, the music scene experienced significant shifts, including the rise of jazz, swing, and big band music. Here's a list of some of the most popular songs from that era, encompassing a mix of genres that were prevalent during this period:
1. **"Darktown Strutters' Ball"** by Original Dixieland Jazz Band (1917): An early jazz classic that represents the genre's emergence.
2. **"Dardanella"** by Ben Selvin and His Orchestra (1919): A hit song that dominated the early 1920s.
3. **"Swanee"** by Al Jolson (1919): A signature tune for Al Jolson and an enduring classic.
4. **"St. Louis Blues"** by Bessie Smith (1925): A blues standard with strong influence from jazz.
5. **"Rhapsody in Blue"** by George Gershwin (1924): A jazz-influenced orchestral piece that became iconic.
6. **"Ain't Misbehavin'"** by Fats Waller (1929): A classic jazz piece with enduring popularity.
7. **"Body and Soul"** by Coleman Hawkins (1939): A jazz ballad showcasing Hawkins' saxophone mastery.
8. **"In the Mood"** by Glenn Miller (1939): One of the most iconic big band swing songs.
9. **"Begin the Beguine"** by Artie Shaw (1938): A big band hit with a Latin rhythm.
10. **"Moonlight Serenade"** by Glenn Miller (1939): Another big band classic by Glenn Miller.
11. **"Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)"** by Benny Goodman (1937): A high-energy swing song that's a staple of the big band era.
12. **"Thanks for the Memory"** by Bob Hope and Shirley Ross (1938): A popular standard and Oscar-winning song.
13. **"Chattanooga Choo Choo"** by Glenn Miller (1941): A catchy swing tune with train imagery.
14. **"I'll Be Seeing You"** by Billie Holiday (1944): A sentimental ballad with deep emotional resonance.
15. **"Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"** by The Andrews Sisters (1941): A lively, patriotic swing song.
16. **"White Christmas"** by Bing Crosby (1942): A timeless holiday classic that gained immense popularity during WWII.
17. **"Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree"** by The Andrews Sisters (1942): A fun, romantic swing tune.
18. **"I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo"** by Glenn Miller (1942): Another hit song by Glenn Miller with a playful tone.
19. **"Sentimental Journey"** by Les Brown and Doris Day (1944): A sentimental and enduring song.

Oooh fun, more questions! 1. Were you named after anybody?
I named myself after one of most beloved D&D characters (Anastasia). When I was figuring myself out it helped a lot to play her and I just loved the name.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I am a mess, so I cry regularly, but most recently it has been about a potential diagnosis with an incurable life-altering illness I might get any day now. That ought to do it :(
3. Do you have kids?
Nope, definitely not. Maybe someday.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I used to do it way more, but yeah, I still do. It's just a part of life in a sometimes mean world I guess.
5. What sports do you play/have played?
I've played basketball, I've done rowing, I've done swimming. I don't really enjoy any of them, so these days I just work out by myself ... if at all.
6. What's the first thing you notice about someone?
Their overall vibe and the energy they have, I think. I know that's vague, but I don't notice any particular detail, but definitely the kind of overall personality their demeanor gives off to me. If I have to nail it down to one thing, I think that'd be their clothing style.
7. Eye color?
Dark, dark brown through and through.
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Scary movies any day, I fucking love horror. Please give me the most horrible hopeless situations, cosmic beings and weird new worlds. The more disastrous the ending, the better.
9. Any special talents?
Hmm. I can play saxophone and clarinet? I can't really think of much truly special
10. Where were you born?
In Berlin and I still live here. I love the identity of the city and being here for generations brings a bond that is not easily severed.
11. What are your hobbies?
I love writing (both RP and for TTRPGs). I play a lot of magic. I love indulging in film analysis and deep dives into the most obscure topics. I do gaming sometimes.
12. Do you have any pets?
Nope, none at the moment, but soon a whole lot if my girlfriend can help it lmao
13. How tall are you?
I am 1,95 m, which translates to 6'4'' I think? Tall goth gal
14. Favorite subject in school?
English for sure. Nothing else comes close. Loved my teachers and languages always came very easily for me.
15. Dream job? Being a writer. The kind that is recognized by name, but not by face. Taking it slow and letting inspiration come to you as you sit in a cottage by the lake, with dark stormy nights and the auburn leaves of old trees surrounding you everywhere.

15 Questions Game
Tagged by @jenolicho <3
1. Were you named after anybody?
I was named after both my grandfathers, but that's my deadname lol
2. When was the last time you cried?
I cried a few weeks ago because of a shitty day at work :(
3. Do you have kids?
I sure hope not
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I'm very sarcastic, and my voice is super monotone so I always sound like I'm being sarcastic even when I'm being genuine
5. What sports do you play/have played?
I used to do baseball as a kid, I did soccer for a couple years (lots of fun), and I dabbled in archery
6. What's the first thing you notice about someone?
I remember how they act and any really defining physical characteristics. Beyond that, I cannot hold onto faces or names until like round 2 or 3
7. Eye color?
I have really dark green eyes with a ring of brown around the pupil, so it looks like I have brown eyes unless we're in making-out-distance
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
I love scary movies and horror, and overall I connect and vibe with bittersweet endings over happy ones
9. Any special talents?
I'm a writer, I can burp on command, I'm a fairly good voice actor (despite being monotonous, I can do a lot of accents n characters), and I can do the footloose dance
10. Where were you born?
I was born in Texas and thankfully don't live there anymore
11. What are your hobbies?
I love to read and write, brainstorm ideas for things to write, or play DnD/Call of Cthulhu/other TTRPGS
12. Do you have any pets?
I have a cat! A calico named Yog-Sothoth
13. How tall are you?
Between 5'9" and 5'10", or 175-176 cm
14. Favorite subject in school?
I always loved science, and math was something I grokked easily
15. Dream job?
I'd love to be an author, but the kind of author that travels the world

Questionnaire of Laruku from B-PASS magazine (March. 1995)
Another translation of a translation from Russian. This "interview" was translated for Russian l'arc fan-club in 2018. I haven't found any other English translations on the net, so I decided that it will be interesting for you to read something like this. All credits are down below, big thank you to the original translator, what a great woman!
The original Russian text has some typos plus English isn't my first language, that's why text might seem a bit of strange. About special signs: (translator's note) - notes of an original translator; "*" - my own notes; (?) - neither me nor the original translator understood the context. Please, enjoy!

Highlights from last night's Synthony concert in Sydney, in approximate chronological order:
First opening act, DJ Alex Preston, was pretty cool. Just hung out and vibed to the cool music. Second one was Andy Van and he was rad.
Opening piece of Synthony itself was a goddamn incredible version of Right Here Right Now. There's a video of it from another show here!
There was a saxophone dude with light-up shoes and they were so cool.
Two favourite tracks, two fantastic arrangements, two really cool visuals to go with it. Delerium's Silence had this gorgeous stormy ocean (which felt quite apt given it had been actively raining earlier) and Faithless' Insomnia (which the dude introduced with, "I bet you're gonna have trouble sleeping tonight!" which... I did, but that was unrelated XD) had this? spectacular gothic forest visual set? Big WoD vibes. Probably somewhere in the Carpathians.
There was some kinda remix that used bits of The Wall pt 2 but I don't remember what it was called :(
An excellent order of events: Samuel Barber composes Adiago for Strings in 1936. DJ Tiesto remixes it in 2004, turning a classical piece into trance. Classical trance. I don't know how many people here were following trance in 2004 but it was everywhere. Synthony re-remixes it, turning a classical piece into trance to be performed with an orchestra that no doubt is more familiar with the original version. Anyway it goddamn slapped.
Second-last piece was You've Got The Love. Host mentioned it was "made popular by Florence + the Machine" and I made a :D expression.
And finally, the encore and the video that made me go "I need to buy a ticket to this right now”, Sandstorm! Dang. This literally had everyone on their feet, myself included. Never raved to a 60-piece orchestra before!
Just good vibes. Lots of dancing. Lots of L O U D. Pretty sure my heart rate was replaced with the bass beat at one point.
