CENTRAL FIGURES OF THE AFRICAN CONTINENT OF EARTH-9997.
PIC INFO: Resolition at 1050x1600 -- Spotlight on sketch art/pencil art/character art of King Panther, Queen Storm, The Beast, and the Ani-Men of Earth-9997, from the "EARTH X" Sketchbook (one shot). February, 1999. Marvel Comics. Artwork by Alex Ross.
OVERVIEW/EARTH-9997 AFRICA: "In a world where meat and animal life has become scarce, Wakanda has become the sole sanctuary of the world's wildlife, under the monarchy of King Panther and Queen Storm. Reed Richards' friend and ally Hank McCoy, the Beast, now resides in Wakanda, seeking a cure for the world's mutations by studying her richest known deposit of vibranium. But his work has met with great interference. For plague X affected all life on Earth. And now, the spirits of T'Challa always believed to have lived within the great beasts of the plains have finally been given voice in the form of the Ani-Men."

Hello and welcome to comicedit's first ever event, celebrating our favourite women in comics and comic book adaptations!
As women's history month draws near, we want to give everyone the opportunity to celebrate their favourite women in comic-related media. This event is structured with very open themes each week, allowing for everyone to have enough time to create their material. Multiple submissions for the same theme are not only accepted, they're encouraged!
WHAT DO WE ACCEPT?
Gifs, graphics, moodboards, video material, virtually anything visual is accepted!
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
We will track our usual tag, #comiceditblog, as well as #cewomen25!
RULES
As usual, we do not accept material regarding the Elizabeth Olsen portrayal of Wanda Maximoff, or Gal Godot's depiction of Wonder Woman.
THEMES
Week 1, 1st to the 7th of March → Favourite female character(s). Self-explanatory!
Week 2, 8th to the 14th of March → Favourite women-led project. This incorporates films, television shows, solo comic book titles, all-women teams, etc. Any piece of comic book media that centers on a woman is accepted! Examples; Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Wonder Woman (1976), Dazzler (1981) by Tom DeFalco, etc.
Week 3, 15th to 21st of March → Favourite female relationship. Wherever it's two best friends, a mother and a daughter, or a romantic relationship, anything is accepted here. Non-canon ships or team-ups are also accepted. Examples; Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy, Sue Storm-Richards and Valeria Richards, Scarlet Witch and Zatanna team-up.
Week 4, 22nd to 28th of March → Favourite obscure / underrated woman. This is for your supporting cast favourite, your 10 minutes of screentime darling, your 25 appearance queen. This is the time to show love for the forgotten women in comic book media, but we know everyone's definition of underrated is different, so we aren't too strict! Examples; Lady Dorma, Helen Cho, Lyta Trevor, etc.
The remaining three days are free; if you want to put out extra work, or catch up on a missed prompt, please feel free! At the end of the month, we will collect everything in a round-up post, so everyone can check out each other's beautiful work.
If you have any other questions, our inbox is open!
If you're considering creating material, or if you're looking forward to seeing other people's works, please make sure to reblog this post! We look forward to seeing everyone in March.

"Storm and Tchalla are endgame"
No they aren't. GOD they haven't been endgame in YEARS and people ONLY want them together cuz they're both black and powerful. Them together isn't interesting nor do they offer anything as a couple. Cuz when Storm is with T'Challa she's reduced to hust his queen and that's not all she is, and T'Challa won't defend mutants like he does Wakanda. And Storm will always choose mutants over everyone.
They don't work for that alone. Stop pissing me off. Just cuz two characters are black it does NOT mean they need to be together or even close.
#j.p speaks#marvel comics#ororo munroe#like..its just starting to get weird#those two together are visually pleasing but so BORING together.#x men

Dragonstone is a volcanic island in the North Atlantic Ocean, just below Greenland and Iceland, but it’s not visible on any maps. Not many know of its existence, as the island is surrounded by such powerful magic, making it invisible to the naked eye. If anyone were to sail towards it, violent storms and currents will make even the strongest of ships sink. It has become a myth to the outsiders, an area such as the Bermuda Triangle, where everyone disappears into the nothingness. This keeps the island, and its population, in safety and peace. They have fought no wars, nor have they suffered in the hands of man made concepts.
However, the fights have started to get bigger, sometimes having the faith of the whole Universe in their hands. That much they figured out after Thanos. Which is why the Avengers know of Dragonstone, and its Queen, and how to get her help.
Everyone holds onto their seats as the Quinjet’s autopilot navigates through the dark clouds, often going through turbulence. “Are we sure this isn’t actually just some freak of nature spot? Is there anything here?” Tony grumbles as he tries to fasten his seatbelt impossibly tight. “We have very expensive cargo on board, and by that I mean me and my suit.”
“Fury seemed confident in his knowledge.” Steve reminds, slightly more calmly, though he is also nervous.
Wanda has her eyes closed. She tries to stay inside her mind, ignoring everything going around her. Air traffic has never been her favorite, but this is next level. The Quinjet does sudden dives and turns, throwing anything loose around. This is why Fury said to fasten everything to the walls and roof, but like usual, Tony didn’t take the advice to heart.
She can feel Natasha’s hand holding her own, calming her down slightly. Wanda doesn’t personally know Fury that well, but she knows Natasha thinks very highly of him, so she is pretty sure he wouldn’t lead them to their certain death. However, she can’t be sure, as this is starting to feel like a wrong way to the supposed island.
“Why couldn’t Fury come here himself? Or the Queen to us?” Kate almost shouts at a particularly violent spot.
“Because when we ask for help from royalties, we show them respect.” Steve states, his *all the younger generations have forgotten respect* personality every old person has shining through. “Did none of you learn this in Wakanda?”
No one gets to answer him, as the Quinjet starts going up, up, up full speed, making everyone yelp. After it has reached the correct altitude, it goes down headfirst. For a moment, the team is sure something has gone wrong, that they are plummeting towards their death. But right before it hits the water, the Quinjet turns the right way and continues flying forward, now in a completely calm climate.
They instantly calm down, letting out breaths of relief and relaxing their tense muscles. Natasha is the first one to get out of her seat, going to the cockpit and looking out the window. “Well, at least the island is real.” She calls out. The others start to pile up in front of the window.
At first glance, it looks like they’re flying towards a big pile of rocks, but at a closer look, they can see the rocks form big walls and even a bigger castle on the island. They’re in awe of the view. The water and air are so calm now that they’ve gotten past the barrier.
They stare out the window while the Quinjet lowers itself to the ground, right outside the walls. Once they step outside, they see two people waiting for them. “Welcome to Dragonstone!” One of them smiles. “My name is Sylvia and I’m the Queen’s advisor. And this,” she gestures to the person next to her, who is wearing an armor, “and this is Calen, they’re the head of protection in this island.”
They bow their head down as a greeting, not saying anything to the guests. The look on their face is serene and their posture is straight, like a proper soldier’s. Sylvia on the other hand shows more excitement through her body, even though her hands are behind her back, they’re still wiggling around, and the smile on her face is one that can light up a whole room.
“Thank you for granting us access to your island.” Steve speaks up, being the unofficial spokesperson when it comes to formal situations.
“Fury is an old friend of Gaia, any friend of his is a friend to us. Now, if you’d follow me, I’ll take you to the castle to meet our Queen.”
They start trekking the land towards the castle, first walking on the bare land and then moving to narrow walkways as they go inside the walls. Most of the walk goes by in silence, the team taking in their surroundings. They’ve never seen anything quite like this.
Wanda drags her hand along the stone fence, her fingers going along the bumps and ridges of it. She smiles. The magic of this island feels different than her own, but not in a threatening way, it feels like it’s dancing with her own.
Finally they get to the castle’s entrance. The huge wooden door opens inward, two other soldiers pulling it. Calen and Sylvia greet them as they go past them. “The Queen is in the throne room.” The latter tells the group, leading them through hallways before stopping in front of a door.
The door to the throne room is also wooden, but it’s a lot more decorated compared to the other ones. It’s carved from top to bottom with different pictures, making it look like a story. Calen pushes the door open, letting everyone walk through it before closing it again. At the end of the room, the Queen sits on her throne. The royal seat has been made out of purely white stone. The backside of it is tall and the sides are wide enough for the Queen to lay her arms there comfortably, but it still looks delicate.
“Gaia.” Sylvia lowers her head in respect and Calen goes down to one knee to bow. The Avengers, quite hesitantly, bow in some way too, bot sure of the island’s customs.
“There’s no need for that.” The Queen’s voice makes all of them rise. Sylvia and Calen take their respective places near the Queen, while the team stop in front of the stairs to the throne. “I hear you are friends of Nicholas Fury.”
Wanda stares at her in amazement. The way she looks so soft yet regal makes her heart pound faster than normal. She can see her chest moving up and down as she breathes, the armor like steel plate moving with it. The dark blue fabric is thick for colder weathers, but flowy enough to move easily. Wanda’s eyes move up to the top of her head. The crown on her head looks like it’s made out of steel as well. It makes her look sharp and strong. She looks majestic sitting on her throne.
“We are,” Steve smiles, “thank you for agreeing to meet us, your Highness.”
“Please, Y/N.” She states. “That’s the name my mother gave me.”
“Y/N. I’m sure you’re aware of a recently defeated threat from space called Thanos.” He continues once she nods, “unfortunately the other worldly threats don’t stop there. We’d like to ask your help to prevent these kind of attacks more efficiently.”
“Certainly.”
Wanda shudders from the way Y/N says the word. Her pronunciation, the slight rasp of her voice and how she rolls the letter r, make her feel dizzy. She is sure the look on her face is stupid, and lovestruck, her eyes wide and mouth slightly parted. The whole conversation going on is going past her. Only thing in her mind right now is something she really shouldn’t be thinking about, but she just can’t stop herself.
“Would you give me the honor of joining me for dinner today? We even have enough guest rooms if you wish to rest before your trip back to America.”
“We would be honored to join you.” Natasha answers. She has been glancing at Wanda during the conversation with a grin on her face, she can read her face easily, knowing what the witch is fantasizing about.
The Queen stands up, her dress falling perfectly to her feet. “I’m glad to hear that. I shall see you in the dining room in an hour, in the mean while, Sylvia will show you where you can refresh yourselves.” Sylvia nods and gestures for them to follow her. Wanda keeps her eyes on Y/N as she walks away, noticing a small smile growing on her face.
After an hour, the Avengers gather into the dining room by Sylvia’s lead, where Y/N is already waiting for them. “Gaia.” Sylvia says before leaving the room.
Y/N stands up, pointing towards the empty chairs. “Please, sit.” She says with a smile, sitting down once again when they get around the table. Wanda sits next to her. She can see the small details of her breast plate from this close.
The table is already fully catered with different foods and desserts. It works like a buffet, everyone takes what they like to their plates. “Can I ask you,” Wanda starts when her plate is full, “why do they call you Gaia, if your name is Y/N?”
“Gaia is a title of sorts. Every queen before me was called that as well, because we keep this island alive and safe. It means Mother Nature.” She explains with a gentle smile on her face, holding eye contact with Wanda as she talks to her. “It is an honor to be called Gaia.” Wanda nods, not able to look away from her stormy eyes.
“How does the next queen get chosen?” Tony asks.
“It’s more faith than decision making,” she pauses, looking for best words to describe how their queens get their role, “we’re born to it, but not in a traditional sense. We are born from the previous Gaia, they mold us from magic.”
“So, there’s no…” he moves his fingers around in a promiscuous manner, which makes Steve look at him disapprovingly. They’re in front of the Queen after all.
But she only finds the situation amusing. “No. Children born in a traditional way are random, and our queens need to be precise. They’re all women and they all have powers. They need to be born from magic.”
Although they don’t really understand the process, and none of them want to ask about the specifics of it, they still find it fascinating. It’s a whole new country with completely different customs compared to theirs. Wanda especially listens to her intently. Her smooth voice practically drilling its way into her brain.
“Can the queen have relationships? Even if they don’t have any part on the next generation of rulers.” The question makes Wanda’s head snap to look at Natasha, who has a wide grin on her face.
“Yes. There are no rules on relationship. The partner just has to know they have no rule over the island.”
Satisfied with the answer, Natasha nods, sending a discreet wink towards Wanda. Her cheeks turn a shade of pink. She tries to hide it by eating the food.
They keep a light conversation going while they all finish their food. Once the plates are empty and the stomachs full, they start leaving the table and go to their rooms. The Queen doing the same. However, she isn’t alone for long.
There’s a knock on her bedroom door.
“Hello, Wanda.” Y/N smiles, the door now open wide. “Would you like to come in?”
“Yeah, thanks.” Wanda steps into the room, the door closing after her. She looks around the room, trying to keep her eyes off of Y/N’s thin night gown. A big bed is in the middle of the room, it has light blue veil over it and a white fur on top. A window, almost the size of the wall, is on the right side of it, but it’s already covered with dark curtains. Otherwise the room is quite plain. A wooden dresser. Mirror with steel decorations. What catches Wanda’s eyes are the tapestries on the walls. They’re bright and colorful, each one having its own story. “Beautiful.” She mumbles.
“They tell our history.” Y/N steps beside her. “Every queen makes one. These are the oldest ones, the rest are in the library, visible for everyone. One day mine will be there too.” She sounds proud when she speaks of her ancestors.
“Your mother, is she still alive?”
“No. The crown passed down to me when I was thirteen.”
“I’m sorry.”
Y/N turns to her with a smile. “Nothing to be sorry about. She’s with her mother and grandmother, and so on. And one day I will see her again, until then, I will make her proud by keeping the people on this island safe.”
However beautiful the idea is, Wanda still feels sad for her. She knows what it’s like to lose your mother young. But she doesn’t comment on it more, clearly it’s not something appropriate to discuss now. “The magic. It feels different here.”
“Yes, it’s not the same as yours. The magic is part of me as much as it is a part of the island. We’re connected. We can sense each other. I can control it and it can influence me.”
“That’s why they call you Mother Nature?”
“Sort of. There’s a long history there. But yes, my ability to control the sea and the air around us is a part of it.”
“Maybe you’ll be able to tell me some day.”
Her smile widens. “Maybe.”
Wanda smiles too. She notices how Y/N’s eyes twinkle in the dim light, as if they had their own light source. “You’re beautiful.” The words stumble out of her mouth. She had no intention on making any mind of move this soon, but she couldn’t help it. This felt like a right moment.
With a small giggle, Y/N looks down, trying to cover her warming cheeks. She doesn’t usually get nervous, but Wanda sounded so sincere. “I’m flattered you think so.”
“Do you think you could go on a date with me? Later, of course. Do you have any rules on that?” The nervousness starts growing at the bottom of her stomach again, the lapse of confidence leaving her body quickly.
“There are some rules, but nothing major. I could definitely go on a date with you, I’d actually really like to do so.”
Letting out a breath, Wanda nods. Her hands are moving her rings around. “Great. I- uhm, that’s great.” She laughs quietly. “I’ll leave you now. See you tomorrow.”
“See you.” Y/N gives her a small wave, smiling widely even after the door closes.

It’s become standard to talk about Ororo as having had many roles and been many people across her life (thief, goddess, queen, regent, hero). The promotional material for Storm v4 does it and Storm v5 opens with it. Storm v3 mentions it. That’s become one of her defining traits, being open to so many different roles.
But it’s not actually unique in comics. Betsy’s been a model, a pilot, a spy, an assassin, and the living embodiment of Britain. Dazzler is always reinventing herself. Kitty’s been a bartender and Rogue’s been a bike mechanic. Hank and Logan were Avengers long before Storm was. Hank’s also been on the Defenders, working for the Inhuman royal family, and one of the Illuminati. And Logan is Logan, his list of roles is longer than his short hairy arm.
Comics characters (especially but not exclusively Claremont-written characters) love moving between roles. It’s what writers do to keep things interesting. So why do we single Storm out as being particularly interesting in this way?
My guess is that it has to do with real-world publication history. Up until she was moved over into the Black Panther series, she had always been an X-Men character, and she’d always been at the center of a team. She’d had one solo series, a 4-issue limited series from 1996 (it’s fine but not particularly interesting; it does have some fun early Terry Dodson art). This would have made her far more attached to the X-Men than someone like Wolverine, who was on his third solo series by the time of the wedding.
Storm couldn’t be understood outside of the X-Men, until suddenly they were pulling her out of the X-Men and dropping her into Wakanda full-time. Part of how they justified this was by revisiting her backstory and inserting a teenage romance with T’Challa. In so doing, they also highlighted the different identities she’d had before the X-Men, as thief and goddess, trying to emphasize the shifting phases of her life.
We get what I think is the first statement of her many different roles in X-Men: Worlds Apart:
I am a woman, a mutant, a thief, an X-Man, a lover, a wife, a queen. I am all these things. I am Storm, and for me, there are no such things as limits.
This comic is specifically about Ororo trying to balance her responsibilities to Wakanda and her responsibilities to the X-Men and managing to do both at once. It’s no longer a question of her changing one role for another but rather embracing more than one at once. The text is reflecting on and making sense of the patterns in publishing.
It’s definitely true that Claremont laid the foundation for this understanding of her when he just kept giving Storm new backstories and skills and relationships. But I think her specific publishing history and the editorial choice to move her from the X-Men to Black Panther and then to both really solidified that as the way to think and talk about her.

Storm has significant dreams

T'Challa, the Black Panther and King of Wakanda, has asked Storm to marry him. To be his queen. She certainly loves him but she's deeply conflicted about the commitment, responsibility, and much else. Her subconscious manifests her conflict in the form of people she's close to, starting with Forge.
He represents a lot of things - love, regrets, magic, self knowledge - but most of all he's a way to externalise the argument. As a protagonist, Storm gets to do shit like that. I'd love to be able to manifest dream versions of people to talk to.

In this time and place Forge evokes loving multiple people and choosing what you feel is right for you. She loves him but they're not together, and that's okay because love takes many forms. Relationships do too, and their impermanence clashes with the expectations of a marriage. Ororo values her independence and freedom, both probably threatened by the personal and the political. She fears the potential for power disparity. Forge and their relationship fades away, as only a dream can. It's been discussed, but only she can choose.

The next visitor is Jean Grey, dressed as Marvel Girl. Jean evokes death and rebirth for Ororo, and most of all change. Her real world injuries feed fear, as they symbolically move from Africa to the United States. Ororo is a child of two worlds and doesn't want to lose her connection to either. Jean stands for platonic love (officially, but only because Marvel are cowards) and friendship, specifically with other women. Ororo was orphaned at a young age and the X-Men have become a family to her. She definitely doesn't want to lose that either - to be just one thing.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Ororo's sexuality, her desire but also her relationship with being an object, comes up. I read this as concern for the roles she'd be to perform as well as considering T'Challa's sincerity. Does he love her for her or for her beauty? As Ororo Munroe or as arm candy and an instrument to exercise political power through. Royal marriages might be dreams or fairy tales for some but but historically they're closer to becoming a baby factory for a stranger.
The two aren't mutually exclusive either. No matter how much love is present, T'Challa's a King and Wakanda is a kingdom with hereditary succession. That pressure and expectation is not a small thing. We'll come back to this.

Dream Jean gets to the heart of the matter pretty quickly, making the subtext text - even causing the image of T'Challa to manifest. At a distance, of course.

As they discuss love T'Challa transforms into Black Panther, his face hidden. The more they discuss him the closer he gets, though still removed from the conversation. The cowl and costume are loaded with symbolism and meaning, not least their respective roles as superheroes.

Neither has a secret identity, but the role implies power, responsibility and secrecy. Black Panther, more than most, represents Wakanda and the responsibility T'Challa has. Is it even possible to make a loving commitment knowing that there will be situations where neither partner can put the other first? Ororo fears not. Again, she makes the subtext text by directly stating the loss of agency and personhood involved in a royal marriage.

As Ororo runs from the threats in her dreamscape, Kitty Pryde shows up in the uniform of her teenage years. She changes through her various costumes and explicitly calls Ororo a second mother to her. The part of the X-Men that is Ororo's legacy, those she's taught and those who aren't like family. They straight up are family. An atypical family with some power disparity issues but still meaningful.
Ororo is focused on the family she's lost or never knew, like the Kenyan warlord uncle with child soldiers and everything in this issue. Yes, really. I'm not really equipped to discuss that, but I wanted to point it out and say 'what the fuck?' She feels like she doesn't know her roots well enough to pass them on.
The dream gets incredibly literal here, because subtext is for cowards. Ororo tells the panther God that she'll only marry T'Challa as his equal. Considering the way Gods work in Marvel, it'd be pretty fucked up if it visited Ororo's dreams with any kind of agenda like that. Whether it's real or imagined, it still works as a statement for Ororo and for Marvel - this will be an equal relationship. I'd have to reread to say if that was successful or not. Nothing wrong with being a tradwife if that's what you want, but Ororo clearly doesn't.

In the season 3 finale of "What If?" we get a glimpse of a Storm variant that appears to be the Queen of Wakanda and holds the mantle of Black Panther. It's a blink and you miss it moment.

Maybe a hot take (or cold dependin) but I’m over Ororo constantly being associated with anything Wakandan. I want her to explore her Kenyan side more, yknow. She’s still Kenyan, but it feels like a lot of Storm fans only want her associated with Wakanda—she has to be their queen, she should be a black Panther character, etc etc. and it’s starting to feel reductive to her character to only focus on the Wakanda part of her life and not her heritage and everything else.
Going off that, previews for the next books said she’s gonna get Wakandan armor modeled after the DM and ii… don’t care.
It’s like everyone is deadset on attaching her to Wakanda and by extension T’Challa when her relationship with them is like… not good at all after the X of Swords event and some moments after where it’s clear they aren’t on good terms.
I wish the armor was more like something given to her by Eternity, something involving her Eternal Storm. Make her more magic focused since they wanna look into her more mystical family side
Just let Storm be Storm, not the ex-Queen of Wakanda
#ororo munroe#storm#x-men#also it’s given ‘all Africa is the same so it’s fine to only focus on Wakanda’#or ‘this fictional African country is worth looking at more than the actual African countries’#sheep talks

How to tell a T'Choro hater is lying, take two
The lie: Storm was a "trophy wife" who "sat around" in Wakanda and "did nothing" while she was queen.
The truth: The royal couple was hardly in Wakanda during Hudlin's entire run. From Black Panther #19 - the start of their honeymoon - Storm and Black Panther do not return to Wakanda until issue #35 This is out of a total of 41 issues.
World Tour (flying around worldwide)
Civil War (London/United States, the Wakandan Embassy is in New York, not Africa).
The Initiative (USA/space; crossover w/Fantastic Four)
Gangsta Lean/Ready to Die (Skrull otherworld/New York City)
Back to Africa/See Wakanda and Die (35-41).
Also, Black Panther: The Man Without Fear is in San Francisco Harlem. (Thanks to a reader for the catch!) X-Men: Worlds Apart was split between Wakanda and the U.S. The only two arcs I remember even being in Wakanda was Mayberry's Doomwar and the second half of the 2009 arc (Power). The first half is split between Wakanda and Hell. Literally, HELL. And truth be told, the only time I've EVER see Storm or Black Panther sitting the throne is in cover shots.
It's one thing if you don't like the couple b/c you think they're boring, and I'm not suggesting that you'd think they were interesting if you read any of those arcs. But the "I don't like them because they're boring" arc is always - and I mean always - paired with how Storm was "just a queen/ornament/token wife". Any time you ever hear an anti-T'Choro "fan" spewing about Storm "just sitting around" or "just being a wife", you know they're lying. T'Challa and Ororo never had time to just sit around. They were being attacked by Skrulls, fighting in the Civil War, joining up with the Fantastic Four...you get the idea. That's why, when T'Choro fans ask for examples of what they mean by boring (or submissive or abusive or...) they're never able to point to any examples. They would have to read the material to have examples.
Remember, kids: "I don't like Black people fucking" is a perfectly legitimate answer. A stupid one, but it's better than this dumb shit right here.

Normani Artemis DeNile
Born October 25th (Scorpio) stands about 199 cm tall with the pillar mode of Psychokinesis, the ability to move things with her mind and enchantress like abilities. She is the Queen of her own pillar colony in northern Africa now known as Egypt in a sanctuary, she earned the nickname “Artemis the enchanted” from humans who sought to learn from her. She had two brothers but they’ve left and started their own families once their parents died and because she married Kars. Her and Kars relationship has a mutual understanding but he was far too obsessed with finding the stone to truly pay attention to her feelings. Before he left on his quest she fell pregnant gave birth while he was gone. Montero and Sza who were months apart. When he returned he apologized for his long absence and finally shows her the outside world but also used her to get back the stone from Lisa Lisa. Feeling betrayed she refused to help him any longer and decided to leave soon her colony advanced to its tribes she rules over ( Wakanda is my inspo). The great DeNile Ancestor is what she became. In a Au she ended up having four other children that was gradually raised by Kars too.
Selena Bia Rosa
Born April 9th ( aries) stands about 199cm tall and is the wife of Esidisi, her pillar mode is stone goddess which is the ability to harden her skin to that of stone. Her and Kars are natural enemies since the day they met as kids. She is the warrior of the tribe settled in Mexico and was supposed to become warrior chief like her dad was but when she returned home everyone was killed except for you young cousin Santana, little Wammu, her husband and Kars. Finding out they caused the massacre she was angry. Later down the line she met Normani and the two have been best friends ever since and Selena birthed Camila. She always warned Normani of how selfish Kars was. During BT she is unable to fight due to finding out once again she was pregnant with her sons Luis and Ozuna. She ends up leaving with Normani and became the leader of the mining tribe in the colony. She also found out about her brother continuing the Rosa lineage once she met her descendant Angelina Rosa.
Here’s a visual of her pillar mode
Amara

She is Queen Normani’s one and only trusted advisor in her royal court, has helped her rule when her parents passed and encouraged her to pursue a life of love and happiness with Kars and ensures her that she may have a few obstacles in the way but love will prevail. She most definitely the Cupid of the pillar men species and wise beyond her years, she dies palm readings to predict future love lives for others. She is able to grow winds on her back and has specialized arrows made of light that can affect the emotions of the person hit with them and regular arrows as well.
Cardi B
Born to the name Bacardi on October 11th is known as that Storm pillar. A royal from Normani’s court from a Nigerian and Dominican background but despite her cool atmospheric appearance she’s quite wild and loves a good fight. She enjoys to eat and indulges in drinking too. She fell in love with Wammu after realizing how calm and a honorable man he truly is. Her pillar mode allows her to control weather phenomena with a flick of her wrist and the pointing of her spear. She gained the nickname Oya after the storm goddess because she was just that good. She later down the lie before the events of Battle tendency had a son named TLC.

Storm #6
"The dead stay dead."
So like, where did Storm get all these toys.
(This will contain some summarized spoilers)
She's obviously wealthy enough and she's obviously done fine for herself, it's not like I don't believe she has the economical sense to invest and keep some money through the years, it's just... this is insane, this is the most lavish lifestyle I've seen out of any character in this universe, this is more money than she had when she was queen of Wakanda. Her house is a fucking helicarrier and also a zoo.
I don't know, where did she get all of this? How does she maintain it? It feels so genuinely superfluous to the character's arc and history and to the actual story being told, she's just... the richest woman on the planet, suddenly.
Anyway, it doesn't matter, it just really distracted me. X-Manhunt continues and you don't gotta read it, all you need to know is Xavier is going into every book trying to convince people to Do Something with him, and then he fails miserably. In this issue that's used to elaborate on Storm's current Herald of Eternity status.
They're trying to make it very clear that this is as big for Storm as becoming the Phoenix was for Jean, and I suppose time will tell if that goes well, but right now it's... it's a little odd, I gotta be real-- it's less Khonshu and his Fist of Vengeance and more Sukuna and his slave sleeve, I would say? Eternity shit-talks her methods and her ideals all throughout the issue and then finally takes over and almost kills the X-Men.
And it's not like the Phoenix or other entities that take over people have really treated the X-Men any better, but it's worth mentioning, I kinda got the gist of the Phoenix almost immediately when reading the original Jean arc, even if that context has been vastly expanded since.
I kinda understood what the Spirit of Vengeance wanted Ghost Rider to do, what Galactus and Silver Surfer had going on, like, all of these relationships were made very explicit right away and I wasn't wondering what was going on. Which isn't to say this is the only way to tell this story, don't get me wrong, it's more, like... what's the beef with the X-Men, exactly? What does Eternity want and why is the Eternal Storm more important to him than the fight he has going with Oblivion? Yes, these are questions the narrative in the future will answer, but this is also the first issue we have ever since she became a Herald, I don't know if I was supposed to be this overwhelmed with doubt right now
I don't know, I think I'm only confused because this happened to be a crossover, since the book was made assuming it could have ended on #5. This would have been a one-shot of Xavier meeting Ororo and then it would have been done, probably, or something like X-MANHUNT: THUNDERSTORM or whatever, had the book not survived the initial culling. But it does kinda ruin the pacing to have this be so clearly not a continuation of what we just finished establishing, and leaves me with more questions than answers.
Xavier ruins everything is what I'm saying. God, go back to your husband Chuck, this is embarrassing.
Maggott spotted though! That was really cool! Hell yeah! Maggott!

When Ororo was 5, a plane destroyed his home and he was trapped under the body of his mother resulting in him developing claustrophobia. He survived on the street of Cairo before eventually being picked up by a gang. As he got older, he followed an urge to travel south where he encountered a young T'Challa. He continued south and found his ancestor's tribe where he was worshipped as a god due to his gifts. Years later, Ororo would come across the X-Men and discover that he was a mutant. He would join the team and eventually lead while staying with them. During a mission, he would come across T’Challa again, this time accepting his proposal and becoming Queen of Wakanda. From there, he would be a member of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers as well as getting a divorce from T’Challa.

I'm not going to say that putting Wolverine in the Deadpool movie makes it less interesting... however, out of all the X-Men, you're going to use Wolverine to bring them into the MCU??
Not someone like Storm or Rogue, who's comic stories are inextricably tied to already existing MCU characters?
Storm's an Avenger and was the queen of Wakanda, and Rogue literally got her flight and super strength from another Avenger
I get that the reasoning is Wolverine is well known, but I'd argue that Storm at the very least is just as iconic of an X-Men, if not more so
#I'm just tired of 20 years of Wolverine atp#give me a Storm or Rogue movie#or even a Shadowcat one#I've waited literal years for that one#x men#storm#rogue#mcu
