Steve was feeling lost.  He had been since he’d woken up from the ice.  This world was so different to what he was used to and what he’d expected it to be.  Howard Stark had him believe that there would be flying cars just for starters.  Not that the tech wasn’t well beyond what he could ever have imagined, it was just so different.  It was culture shock, plain and simple.  Everything was familiar and just different enough to knock him sideways.

That wasn’t the worst part though.  The worst part was he’d woken up and he’d been fighting the same goddamn fight ever since.  Apparently sacrificing your whole life to save the world wasn’t enough for society to learn a lesson.

So he’d gone from fighting aliens over a piece of equipment he’d killed himself trying to destroy.  To fighting the same Nazi groups he’d thought he’d already defeated.  To finding out somehow Bucky was still alive.

It was a lot.  Too much.  He was tired and while he was making friends, he still felt quite alone and misunderstood.

And just when he thought things couldn’t get any weirder, the son of his friend from 1944 had invited him to move into his building.

Tony was - interesting.  Steve was having trouble understanding him honestly.  There was something there.  Like seeing like.  But he couldn’t quite figure out what it was about the man that made him feel that way.  However, even as much as he respected him, and recognized something in him, they had butted heads a lot, and Steve wasn’t completely sure this was the best idea.

Still it would be good to be around friends again.  A team.  He needed that.  And who knew, maybe he could figure out what it was that he was seeing in Tony.

He stepped into the lobby of the newly branded Avengers Tower with his bag slung over his shoulder and glanced around for where to go next.  His eyes landed on the self-proclaimed genius, playboy and he let out a sigh of relief, and lifted his hand in greeting.  “Tony,” he said.  “It’s good to see you again.  Thank you for this.  After what happened with SHIELD I wasn’t exactly sure who was hiring World War II veterans.”

Tony was exhausted and it felt like someone had thrown him through a tumble dryer. It had been a while since he'd gotten his ass beaten quite so hard. But the kicker was, HYDRA had blown up a government building and somehow framed it to look like it had been him and Steve.

Now not only was HYDRA after them, but so was everyone else. They'd gone from being superheroes to public enemy number one. They'd had to go on the run. Thankfully, both he and Steve were resourceful. Steve had stolen them a car and some clothes, and Tony had taken out a huge wad of cash and the two had been driving for hours now. There was no sign of anyone following them and Tony was good at sending out false leads and covering their footsteps.

As they limped into the motel he'd gotten for the night, Tony wasn't sure who was supporting who. They hadn't had a chance to look their injuries over and Tony was sure he'd broken a rib and his arm had taken yet another hit. He wasn't sure but Steve did had a tear in his uniform before he'd changed.

Tony flopped onto the bed with a sigh and turned his head to look at Steve. "You hurt?" he asked. "Did you steal us a medical kit?"

Tony smirked and his tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth as he looked Steve up and down. "Yes, Steve nice ass Rogers? Can I help you with something?"

Tony’s head tilted, his eyes flicking over Steve’s features when he pulled back, to make sure he was still on board with what was happening.  His skin was flush and he was still holding him, so there was definitely something there.

Tony normally didn’t doubt other people’s attraction for him.  People usually didn’t hide it if they wanted him.  He was so confident that often all he needed to do was point at someone and beckon them over and it would be on.

Steve was different and he wasn’t sure why.  Whether it was because Steve wasn’t sure what the attraction meant, or maybe he fought that attraction due to the time period he grew up in. Or maybe there just wasn’t one but he didn’t want to upset Tony.  Tony wasn’t quite sure.

But he was getting more sure every moment.  “You liked it though, right?” he said, hand moving to Steve’s hips and tugging him a little closer.  “Want me to teach you something else?  Or maybe there’s something you’ve been wanting to show me?”

Steve was expecting some sort of prank if he was completely honest, or a joke he didn't understand the punch line to. Regardless of the usual teasing Tony gave him, most of the time he just enjoyed the fact Tony was talking to him as pathetic as that sounded.

When the genius came close, pulling on his fabric he almost laughed given the height difference but then Tony was kissing him. All words left his mind, forget that, his whole brain was offline. A warm wave passed through him, a hand holding onto Tony's arm.

Pulling back slowly, he could do nothing but gaze into the other man's eyes. Clearing his throat he found himself a little flustered. "Well,....I wasn't expecting that."
