Dirty Thirty by Janet Evanovich
Thanks to my library, Libby app....and it's skip the line function...I finally got to read this.
Holy Cannoli! What an ending! She is a master at cliff hangers. I'm dying here...I want to know....
I think this is my favorite one yet. Great story plot. Mrs. Plum actually kicked butt, we need more of that. Lula is so awesome. Even Bob got involved, such an adorable doggy.
I finally got my Ranger fix. I admit I fantasize about him, especially after seeing the movie. Daniel Sunjata nailed it.🔥 Anyone else fantasize about a book character, or am I just weird?🤔😏
You all are going to either love or hate this ending, depending on your point of view. I love endings like that.
If you are a Stephanie Plum fan..... are you #teamRanger or #teamMorelli?
#teamRanger!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ok, when is the next book coming out...🤔😏🖖

Summary: **A Stephanie Plum “In Between the Numbers” Christmas novel**
It's five days before Christmas and things are not looking merry for Fugitive Apprehension Agent Stephanie Plum. She hasn't got a tree. She hasn't bought any presents. The malls are jam-packed with staggering shoppers. There's not a twinkle light anywhere to be seen in her apartment.
And there's a strange man in her kitchen.
Sure, this has happened to Stephanie Plum before. Strangers, weirdos, felons, creeps, and lunatics are always finding their way to her front door. But this guy is different. This guy is mysterious, sexy-and he has his own agenda. His name is Diesel and he is a man on a mission. And Diesel is unlike anyone Stephanie has ever met before in her life. The question is, what does he want with her? Can he help her find a little old toy maker who has skipped out on his bail right before Christmas? Can he survive the Plum family holiday dinner? Can he get Stephanie a tree that doesn't look like it was grown next to a nuclear power plant? These questions and more are keeping Stephanie awake at night. Not to mention the fact that she needs to find a bunch of nasty elves, her sister Valerie has a Christmas "surprise" for the Plums, her niece Mary Alice doesn't believe in Santa anymore, and Grandma Mazur has a new stud muffin. So bring out the plastic reindeer, strap on your jingle bells, and get ready to celebrate the holidays--Jersey style. In Janet Evanovich's Visions of Sugar Plums, the world of Plum has never been merrier!
*Opinions*
This is the first Between-the-Numbers novella for the Stephanie Plum series. While the main series does not take itself seriously, this novella takes the humor and suspension of disbelief to a whole new level. I like Evanovich’s humor (obviously as I am attempting to read the 30+ books in this series) but if you want a book that takes itself even a little bit seriously, please do not pick up this book. You will DNF it within the first fifteen pages.
Visions of Sugar Plums follows Stephanie Plum, a better lucky than good bounty hunter, who is having a hard time finding her failure to appear and get into the Christmas Spirit. It doesn’t help that the FTA she is trying to hunt down is Sandy Claws and a mysterious man who might be an alien has just appeared in her kitchen stating he is there to get her into the Christmas Spirit. This mysterious man, who goes by Diesel, is also looking for someone and thinks that Stephanie will be able to help him find this individual, who might also be an alien. Soon, Stephanie is stressing about not having a single Christmas gift, being attacked by angry elves, helping her sister Valerie with a huge decision, and another one of her cars going up in flames. Unless Stephanie gets into the Christmas spirit quickly, the holiday season will crash and burn as well.
Personally, I really like the Between-the-Number novels because they are so unserious. Stephanie really doesn’t question a lot in these stories and invites the reader to do the same. Sure there are people with special powers that can pop into places and open locks magically. How is that any different than all the crazy things that happened in Stepahie’s life up to that point? There were a lot of nods to the series readers and I don’t think anyone who isn’t invested in the series would appreciate this novel. If you enjoy spending time with Stephanie and the people in her life, it is a quick, fun read. 3.5 star.

You Say You Want a (New Year's) Resolution?
Oops. It’s a New Year and I’ll admit I haven’t given the slightest bit of thought to an actual New Year’s Resolution. I have nothing against them, as those of you who have been around the Cold for a while undoubtedly know. I love to make them, I love to keep them, and I love to break them. All of these scenarios I consider a win-win. My previous resolutions – even when broken – have been a…

HARD 8
■ throw of two dice that lands on 4, the two digits form Jonghyun's bday 0408
Dice (commonly known as craps), is a game often played for money where the player (referred to as the shooter) rolls 2 dice hoping to roll a winning combination. The number 8 can be obtained three ways.
The 'easy way' by rolling a 6 and 2 or a 3 and 5, or the 'hard way' by rolling a 4 and 4.
'Hard' numbers are any 2 pair combinations: 2 and 2, 3 and 3, 4 and 4, 5 and 5, and 6 and 6. Betting on the 'hard' number combination results in a larger return when it is thrown.
■ Hard 8 is the eighth novel by Janet Evanovich featuring the bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum
Hard Eight revolves around a child custody fight, rather than a criminal bail bond, and marks the (sometimes repeated) departure of the series from Stephanie chasing bad guys to Stephanie being stalked by the bad guys.
Stephanie is asked by her parents' next-door neighbor, Mabel Markowitz, to find her granddaughter, Evelyn and great-granddaughter, Annie, who have disappeared. During a messy divorce with her ex-husband, Steven Soter, Evelyn was forced to post a child custody bond, and Mabel used her house as collateral. If Evelyn is not found, then the bond company will foreclose on her house, and the money will be forfeited to Steven. ×
so its like being watched/hunted but also to hunt and watch (?)
■ Hard 8 is a crime film written and directed by paul thomas anderson:
Sydney Brown, a well-dressed senior gambler, finds John Finnegan, a homeless man, forlornly sitting outside a diner. He offers him a cigarette and buys him a cup of coffee. John tells Sydney that he lost his money in las vegas and he needs $6,000 for his mother's funeral. Sydney offers to drive John to Vegas, where he helps John win the money. ×
SHINee members recent outfits suggest a casino concept; like their first pic together, the dice keyring onew & key wore recently and onew recent outfit in his ig live
SHINee 8th Album HARD = 하드
SHINee 4th Album ODD= 오드
Also the blue sky dress code for their fanmeet could hint to something:

Hi! I'm new to Writerblr and excited to be here.
The name I go by is Annabelle Wynter.
I am a married female in my 40s.
I have two kiddos that keep me busy and an adorable pup named Beast that loves to snuggle. Here's my buddy.
I love to read every genre! There really isn't one I don't like, it mostly just depends on my mood.
Some of my favorite books are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Stephanie Plum novels, Court of Thorns and Roses, Bridgerton Series, Grapes of Wrath, I'm seriously all over the place.
I am the same way with television and love Schitts Creek, true crime documentaries, Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, and cheesy reality TV.
My daughters are really into WWE and I love Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch.
I also write in several genres and currently have two WIP.
The first is a novel that's in its second draft. I'm working on additional changes and will be sharing them on this platform as well as Wattpad. It's a romantic mystery called Surving Karma.
The second WIP is a Regency Romance called Wild Lavender. I have posted the first chapter on here and Wattpad. Summaries are below the cut.
I would LOVE to read some of my fellow writerblrs, so please Tag me to check out your work.
My DMs are open and I love making friends.
Happy writing/reading!
Karma, the universe's funny little way of keeping a tally on each of us and making sure that before the end, it all evens out.
I believe in Karma. And that is why I have spent the past five years working my ass off to try to add some good juju to my scorecard. The first twenty-something years? Well, let's be honest, I have some serious marks against me; and that's just what I can remember!
My name is Collins Alexander, and I'm a recovering alcoholic.
Five years ago, I hit my bottom in a serendipitous fall from grace that landed me a month in rehab, an end to my law career and an eviction from my high rise apartment in the Chicago loop.
Now I'm trying to offset my negative balance with Karma by devoting my life to helping other addicts in a state run rehab. And things were going pretty well too, until the handsome District Attorney, Keaton Donnelly showed up with a picture of my former defendant, missing a few appendages and news that I was next.
And if that wasn't bad enough, they assigned an undercover agent to assist. His name is Derek Nowak and he's got intel on the Chicago gang scene and a smile known for dropping panties all over the Midwest. This is doing nothing to help my mind stay focused on keeping all my appendages intact.
So here I am, in my black bootie Louboutins, a final remnant of my prior life, holding a steaming cup of black coffee and running like hell.
Cause Karma is nasty bitch, and she's coming to settle a score.
Summary: Everett Greenwood never expected to be the Duke of Rorchester, that was a job for his older brother. But when sudden tragedy strikes, he finds himself thrust into a life he never wanted. Then he sees Melina delivering honey to the grand hall. The girl who lives in a shack in the woods becomes the only love his heart has ever known, but can society accept the simple woman as his choice? And will secrets from her past destroy their chance at love? Find out in Wild Lavender.

Hello ✌🏽☺️ for the bookish questions i choose 21, 25, 26, 43, 48,49 and 50. Thanks
21: Best winter read?
Ok so the first thing that comes to mind is The Time Travelers Wife ~ I don’t know if it’s considered a winter read, but I personally read it during the winter years ago, and there are winter scenes, one being quite extreme.
25: If you could be a character from a book for just one day who would you be and why? (Bonus: any specific day in the story?)
Shiiiiiit ok - I would fucking love to be Stephanie Plum. To meet Grandma Mazur, chill with Lula and have some Joe Morelli?! 🥵 all while being a Bounty Hunter? Yes please! Hopefully it’s a day her/my car doesn’t blow up 🤣
26: If you could be a character from a book for their entire life who would you be and why?
Mmmmmm damn this is a hard one. If I try to put too much thought into this it will probably never get answered so I’m just gonna pick… Rachel Morgan - she’s a witch who lives and works with a faerie and living vampire. I stopped reading the series a while ago, but I think I want to pick it back up now!
43: Are you the kind of person who reads several books at once or the kind of person who can only read one book at a time?
I used to be able to read only ONE book at a time, but now that I’m reading different types of books and learning to read what I’m in the mood for, I can have 3 books going at once.
48: Where is your favorite place to read?
Anywhere 🫶🏼 I don’t have a specific favorite place.
49: When is your favorite time to read?
Early in the morning, before anyone is awake, while I enjoy a cup of cafe con leche 🫶🏼 ☕️
50: Why do you love to read?
Lots of reasons, but mainly because it’s an escape. And if I’m reading something near and dear to my heart or trauma, it’s comforting.
Thank you, @doloreschanal for sending this!

Hi bub! Hope you're having a good day 🤍
I was wondering if you have any published books recommendations for a non native English speaker?
Hiiii 💖
Might be a controversial opinion, but I would recommend any kind of book that you enjoy reading. Not saying quantity over quality, but most published books will have gone through several rounds of editing and will fulfil the fundamental requirements of plot and character development that might be lacking in fanfiction.
So it’ll depend on how comfortable you are with reading in English and what genre you’re into, I guess. I started with YA books (simpler language since they’re intended for a younger audience) like the Hunger Games and Artemis Fowl and moved on to the “big” fantasy books like Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire and The Wheel of Time.
Then I’m a big fan of action-filled chick-lit, because it’s fun and easy to read. My favourite here is the Stephanie Plum series, where the first book is described as: “Funny and light-hearted with a likeable heroine who never loses track of her goal to earn 10,000 dollars as a bounty hunter.”
Other than that, I think “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy is amazing and I think he has a distinct writing style that is easy to read for us non-natives. I also love Clive Barker, especially “Imajica”, but his style is more complex and requires more of me to read, if that makes sense.
Anyway, no matter what you read, you’ll most likely be a better writer for it 🤷🏻♀️ You can also read translated books you’ve enjoyed in English; I’ve done that a lot ☺️
Not sure if this was in any way helpful. Others are more than welcome to add their recommendations!

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich 3.5/5 ⭐️
This is definitely one of those guilty pleasure reads. The characters and situations they get into are just ridiculous lol. The characters are all pretty satirical New Jerseyan’s but I found myself laughing and enjoying the story a lot. If you’re looking for a cozy mystery series that’ll keep you entertained and laugh, but still has a bit of a gritty element, the Stephanie Plum series has it all!

Genre: Fiction, Adult, Mystery
Rating: 3 out of 5
Content Warning: Misogyny, Torture, Sexual harassment, Murder off-page, Hit and Run
Summary: Fugitive Apprehension Agent Stephanie Plum has a big problem on her hands: Seven-year-old Annie Soder and her mother, Evelyn, have disappeared.
Evelyn's estranged husband, Steven, a shady owner of a seedy bar, is not at all happy. During the divorce proceedings, he and Evelyn signed a child custody bond, and Steven is demanding the money guaranteed by the bond to find Annie. The money was secured by a mortgage on Evelyn's grandmother's house, and the True Blue Bonds Bail Agency wants to take possession of the house.
Finding a kidnapped child is not an assignment for a bounty hunter. But Evelyn's grandmother lives next door to Stephanie's parents, and Stephanie's mother and grandmother are not about to see their neighbor lose her house because of abduction.
Even though Stephanie's plate is full with miscreants who missed their court dates, including old nemesis and violent drunk Andy Bender and an elusive little old lady accused of grand theft auto, she can't disappoint Grandma Mazur! So she follows the trail left by Annie and Evelyn-- and finds a lot more than she bargained for. Steven is somehow linked with a very scary Eddie Abruzzi. Trenton cop and on-again, off-again fiance Joe Morelli and Stephanie's mentor and tormentor, Ranger, warn Stephanie about Abruzzi, but it's Abruzzi's eyes and mannerisms that frighten Stephanie the most. Stephanie needs Ranger's savvy and expertise, and she's willing to accept his help to find Annie even though it might mean becoming too involved with Ranger.
Stephanie, Ranger, Lula (who's not going to miss riding with Ranger), and Evelyn's lawyer/laundromat manager set out to find Annie. The search turns out to be a race among Stephanie's posse, the True Blue Bonds' agent, a Rangerette known as Jeanne Ellen Burrows, and the Abruzzi crew. Not to mention the fact that there's a killer rabbit on the loose!
Strap on your helmet and get ready for the ride of your life. Hard Eight. The world of Plum has never been wilder.
*Opinions*
I am slowly making my way through the Stephanie Plum books and Hard Eight was the next one on the list. Now, I had read this novel before, but I remembered very little about it and after I finished it, I can see why. There was a lot that I didn’t like about this book and not enough that I enjoyed to make this a memorable reading experience. In a series that is this long, they aren’t all going to be winners and this was not a winner for me.
Hard Eight follows Stephanie Plum as she continues to make rent by bringing in FTAs as a bounty hunter for her cousin Vinnie. Stephanie herself says that she is more lucky than good at her job, but she is not having a lot of luck this week. On top of all that, her parents’ next-door neighbor is asking for Stephanie to look for her daughter, Evelyn, and her granddaughter, Annie. What seems like a simple request quickly turns complicated and Stephanie is put in the path of Eddie Abruzzi, a powerful and unhinged man. As the search for Evelyn turns deadly, Stephanie needs to turn to her fellow bounty hunter Ranger for assistance, even with the sexual tension between them. Soon, Stephanie is being cashed by a man in a rabbit suit and needs to find Evelyn before she dies in Abruzzi’s twisted war games.
This novel delves further into dark territory than some of the novels before this one. It always surprises me how dark the first novel was when I reread it and there were some very dark parts of this novel. Evanovich does attempt to lighten up these areas with humor, like Grandma Mazur with the flashing rabbit and her mother joking after hitting the rabbit with the car. Still, a lot in this novel can leave the reader feeling uncomfortable. It is not material that bothered me, but for readers who are coming to this novel for humor, it might be jarring and uncomfortable.
The thing that really annoyed me about this novel was the way that the two interesting parts of this novel were completely glossed over in a sentence or a paragraph. The one that really gets me is that Ranger and Stephanie FINALLY have sex after books' worth of tension, and it is glassed over in a paragraph. Now I am not one of those “is there spice” readers, but if you are going to build up a sexual encounter for books, I want at least a page before you cut to black. Especially when you are telling me that this man is so good in bed that he might ruin a woman for all other men. I need some details and I know Evaonvich can write a sex scene because she did so for Morelli a couple of books ago. Then, when this same man, KILLS SOMEONE FOR HER, it is discussed in a single sentence and then Stephanie goes to have sex with Morelli. I just…there was so much time in this novel spent with Stephanie spinning her wheels or straight-up failing, I would have liked that to be cut down to dig into the juicy stuff.
The pacing of this novel was off and the storyline was not one that really interested me. Even the climax (literally) was so boring that I forgot it even happened this early in the series. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy myself, but there are definitely better books in the series. This is a 3-star read.

asdfghjkl reading a few reviews for this book I'm waiting for and like THREE of them boil down to, "Oh my gosh I LOVE this series but this one was SUPER hard to understand! It just involves SO many people and storylines and- well, I totally skipped the fourth book bc I didn't vibe with it, but that shouldn't maaaaatter!!!!"
My dudes, you SKIPPED an ENTIRE 481 page novel. In the MIDDLE of a SERIES. OF COURSE book five isn't gonna make sense!!!!
You should NEVER be able to skip entire novels in a series and just pick up the next one without missing things! If you can, that's just NOT a very deep or involved series.
Like, okay, there are some things where you can reasonably expect to be able to pick up any book in a series and follow it without too much trouble, at least enough to get SOME enjoyment out of it. Like, Goosebumps, and Nancy Drew, and the Stephanie Plum series. Books that either stand on their own well enough, or are, well, shallow enough that most of what came before just doesn't matter so much in the book you're holding.
But really GOOD books, when they're set in a series, are pieces of a whole. You NEED to read them all to understand whats going on. Those are always the BEST kind.
In this particular case, the fourth book is basically a smash cut and a rewind to some VERY IMPORTANT EVENTS that happen outside the main characters sphere of influence.
It WAS a bit hard to get into! Because if you've just left off with the third book, you are REALLY gonna hate having to smash the breaks and do a u-turn mentally, because some VERY EXCITING STUFF happened in the third book! But it's all NECESSARY INFORMATION.
And once I got into it, it was FUN going, Ooooh wait, they just mentioned a thing that happened in book one and book two! So THATS what x and y were up to then!
and *gasp* OH my GOD, if this dude is who I think he is!!!! *psycho music starts playing*
and wait is that a DRAGON?!?!?
I think people maybe balked because the protagonists of the fourth book are a pair of nine year old girls? But like, they're not exactly NORMAL nine year olds. Have some faith in the author people, EVERYTHING this author does is deliberate.
#book rant#it's just so silly to see more than one person going 'waaah it was too hard to understand!' when they SKIPPED AN ENTIRE BOOK#of COURSE it was!#books#wen spencer

🧃 ⇢ share some personal lore you never posted about before
I got chicken pox in first grade and because I was 6, I scratched and now I have a handful of little tiny craters (scars) on my face! I used to be so insecure about them but they’re actually kinda cute, especially in the summer when my freckles are out in full force!
📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app?
I was inspired by @laracrofted when she made the atta boy posters and now I have a list of various posters that I want to draw for myself. (will my creative abilities allow me to do that? idk 😬)

Maverick and Iceman may be older but they’re not clueless when it comes to technology. Mav has been flying planes with highly sophisticated technology for decades and Ice is a high ranking admiral who uses a computer to be his voice, literally. like everyone, they occasionally make mistakes, but they know how phones and computers work. they may not get why people like and use social media, but they understand how it works. they’re not incompetent baby boomers.
❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
oh god…. the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich has always been a favorite of mine (if you’ve ever asked for a book rec this was definitely on the list) and I think an AU based on the first book of the series (or more!! I wouldn’t complain!!) with Rhett as Joe Morelli would be so fun. his stoic, grumpiness is perfect! plus one of the Tillerson boys casted as Ranger would be hilarious. honestly I would read it no matter who wrote it, but I think @laracrofted (calling you out again ames sorry) would do a wonderful job because she has such a knack for creating OCs, which this kind of AU would work best with.
