With that, the conference call ended. Hongjoong didn't know why he was so ticked off. But seeing everyone congregate around you to make sure you were okay while he stood at the side, it irritated him. Why couldn't he ask you if you were okay?

And the thought of you using Seonghwa's bathroom and his soaps, smelling like Seonghwa, made him dig for clothes and shove them into Seonghwa's arms to put on his bed for you.

"What's wrong with you, Kim Hongjoong?" He asked himself, massaging his temples.

"It's fine, (y/n). There's no rush for the clothes. Don't worry about it." He assured you. If he had to be honest, Hongjoong thought you looked cute in his clothes.

"Please, just for a bit. I won't take up too much of your time." Hongjoong promised. He didn't really know where to take you, going to his office was for work people but it was private.

"Sure." Thankfully, you nodded and followed him up the stairs to where his office was. Hongjoong opened the door for you to enter.

"Feel free to sit anywhere." He gestured, observing the way your head was slightly lowered, kind of like a shamed student that was entering a principal's office to be punished.

"(y/n), I'm sorry. It seems like it's always the same thing, I do something that screws up our friendship and have to apologise for it. I just... I don't know how to act with people outside my 7 brothers, I'm not the best person..." He sighed, running his fingers through his hair.

"I don't mean to hurt you, (y/n). You know that, right? I'm trying to be a good friend but it seems like it's not really working, right?" He tried to crack a joke.

"Yeah..." You couldn't help but agree, forcing a smile.

"You're right. I can't tell you now but I will in due time. It's already dangerous for you, knowing my mother so I shouldn't add to that." He informed.

"But once again, I know it's not fair of me to ask but please be patient with me." He pleaded. Hongjoong didn't want to lose you, as a friend or as a person in his life. And you wouldn't admit to him that you felt the same way. Just like Mrs Kim, you felt like Hongjoong brought some sort of importance in your life.

"You were hurt when I saw you at the tournament. Is that why you were avoiding me even before that?" You asked.

"I'll answer that, only if you don't proceed to ask me how I got injured." Hongjoong stared at you, a playful glint in his eye. You rolled your eyes and nodded in agreement.

"Yes. I was injured and I didn't want you to see me limping around with a cane like a grandpa." He chuckled.

"A grandpa?" You snickered.

"I have already got enough teasing from the other kids about it. Although, I believe you wouldn't be like them and tease me, you would worry." He groaned.

"That should be all for now though. I'll just do some other stuff to finish up for today." You told her as she tied up the bags and put them to the side.

"Alright, if you need anymore help. Please do not hesitate to ask any of us." She bowed deeply and headed back in.

"(y/n)! Stop working and come! The chefs made pie and it's still hot!" San yelled from the doors. You straightened up from where you were packing dirt around the plant's roots.

"Alright!" You replied and packed your things before jogging back to the house. You went to wash your hands first.

"Oh! Hongjoong, I didn't see you there. Are you alright?" You nearly bumped into the male, noticing the ghastly tired look on his face. He let out a long sigh, rubbing his face with his hands, showing that he was not ok.

"Just technical work stuff, I don't like working with numbers. Got distracted when I heard the others yelling about pie or something." He chuckled.

"It's good to take breaks, especially pie breaks." You giggled.

"There you are!" Mingi cheered when he saw you and Hongjoong enter the dining room.

"Would you like custard or ice cream with your pie?" Wooyoung asked, pulling you in and sat you down in one of the seats.

"Ice cream, please." You requested. Soon, the butler placed a dish with the slice of warm pie and one scoop of vanilla ice cream on top with some sort of crumble topping.

"Hey, (y/n) should sit here." Yunho said, pointing to the seat next to him.

"I sit there." Mingi shot his best friend a betrayed look.

"It's okay, I'll just stay here." You chuckled. You didn't want to get involved in their best friend squabble.

"Good choice, (y/n)." Wooyoung smiled triumphantly, holding his plate of pie in his hand and taking the seat next to you. The others jeered at him while he just stuck his tongue out at them. You giggled, they could be so childish for grown men. Hongjoong shook his head and let out a sigh of despair.

"How's the pie?" Yeosang asked you with a kind smile, not bothered by his brothers' childishness. You covered your mouth as you chewed, giving him a thumbs up.

"Okay, kids. Enough. Eat your food." Seonghwa said, getting between the others like a mother.

"I swear I have no idea how they're functioning adults. They're actually 5 years old." Hongjoong clicked his tongue.

You sat quietly, noticing how they interacted with each other. They were just like a regular family, with Seonghwa and Hongjoong as the parents of 6 kids, all with different personalities.

"(y/n), would you like to stay for dinner?" San invited.

"Oh, I shouldn't..." You rubbed the back of your neck, already feeling like you overstayed.

"Nonsense. We already established that you're not just a regular employee here. You should stay! The chefs are making a nice seafood dinner." Wooyoung said.

"Yeah, you should stay. I'll take you home after." Hongjoong offered with a kind smile. After apologising and making up with you, Hongjoong wasn't ready for you to go home yet. He wanted you to stick around longer.

"But of course, if you have other engagements, we understand." Seonghwa interjected, not wanting you to feel pressured to stay for dinner. You sent him a grateful smile.

"Ah... alright..." You nodded.

"But no more going back to work! You should join us for games, do you know Mario Kart?" Yunho asked.

"Yes but I haven't played it in a long time. I think the last time I played it was after school at an arcade? I don't have a game console." You tried to remember.

"Don't worry, we'll go easy on you the first round." Mingi smirked.

"I don't know..." You felt like you shouldn't be playing around during your working hours, it felt wrong especially since you were paid.

"Well we pay you and we say it's fine! We'd much rather you come and game with us." San winked, resting his head on his hand as he finished his dessert.

"But-" You shot Hongjoong a conflicted look, wanting him to somehow rescue you.

"Go on and have fun." He chuckled, leaning back in his seat. You sighed as you let the others lead you away to the theatre room to game. Of course, they wouldn't have brought you to Yunho and Jongho's computer room to game. It was too risky and there might be important information scattered around.

"Don't be late for dinner!" Seonghwa yelled as you all went upstairs. Hongjoong shook his head with a laugh and wiped his mouth with the napkin before standing.

"Where are you headed?" His best friend asked him.

"A nap. All I see are Jongho's numbers in my head and it's hurting my brain." Hongjoong yawned.

"Aren't you going to join them to game? (y/n) might appreciated your support as she competes against the rest." Seonghwa stated with an amused smile.

"I know what you're trying to do and I'm telling you to stop that. It'll embarrass her and make things awkward." Hongjoong glared.

"I'm not doing anything~" Seonghwa sang innocently and the two went upstairs to their rooms.

"You're becoming more human, Joong. And that's not necessarily a bad thing." The taller said before entering his bedroom. Hongjoong opened his mouth to clear his confusion but decided against it and entered his bedroom. He leaned against his closed door.

"More... human..." He repeated Seonghwa's words, heading to his bathroom to wash his face and change out of his business suit so he could nap comfortably.

"Oh my gosh! I won!" You jumped up and cheered, hi-fiving Yunho.

"Beginner's luck!" The other 3 competing against you excused, making you roll your eyes.

"You guys are such sore losers." You pointed at them. Mingi boo'ed, Wooyoung jeered at you with a thumbs down and Jongho demanded a rematch.

"You were great, (y/n)." San and Yeosang shot you encouraging smiles with thumbs up.

"Thank you, peanut gallery." You curtsied.

"No, no, no. Rematch! And we won't go easy anymore. Get ready to lose!" Jongho growled, showing just how competitive he is.

"Sorry, I don't race with losers I've already beat." You said with a confident shrug, making San, Yunho and Yeosang wince at your words. Of course, you were just joking.

"Okay, ONE rematch. You win again, you'll take the title of 'champion' and you have gloating rights!" Mingi stated, trying to negotiate with you. You rolled your eyes dramatically and sat back down, taking your controller back. Wooyoung cracked his fingers and neck while Jongho chugged his energy drink.

"You guys are so dramatic! She's just gonna beat you again!" San hollered at them. Luckily this room was sound proof because Hongjoong and Seonghwa would have definitely heard the shouting.

"Are you ready to lose?" Wooyoung nudged you.

"Ready to watch the back of my car the entire time?" You asked back. Yeosang shook his head while Yunho cheered.

"Go, (y/n)! Hurry up so we can have a turn!" Yunho yelled. Jongho loaded a new race. As the race counted down, the room grew silent. Only the game sounds were heard.

"It's 3 vs 1! That's unfair!" You screamed as you narrowly dodged the shell Mingi threw.

"Hey, play fair!" Yeosang said.

"All's fair in love and war." Jongho growled. Glancing at the other screens, you saw Wooyoung ready to launch a blue shell at you so you breaked and let Jongho go in front, only for the shell to hit him.

"Hyung!" Jongho roared as you laughed victoriously and raced forward as Jongho's character took 2 seconds to recover.

"Winner!" You shouted. San, Yeosang and Yunho ran to you to join your celebration, the group of you hugging each other and jumping in a circle like you won the Nobel Prize or something. Although, you were unaware you were being watched the entire time.

"What's all the ruckus?" Hongjoong raised an eyebrow as he walked in with Seonghwa beside him.

"I won!" You giggled.

"She beat all of them, twice." Yunho informed the oldest two. They had amused looks on their faces. With how competitive everyone is, they were surprised your beat them twice.

"Now, a celebration dinner awaits. And I'm pretty sure you were granted gloating rights?" Seonghwa asked.

"Of course." You grinned.

"Aww, we didn't get to play yet!" Yunho, Yeosang and San complained but Seonghwa was not going to have his dinner delayed. He turned the game off and ushered the boys out of the theatre.

"I think you'll fit in just fine, (y/n). If you can handle them, you can handle anything." Hongjoong chuckled.

He would pull your daughter in between the two of you, letting her giggle as loudly as she wants whilst her parents kiss her cheeks and tickle her belly. If Bucky Barnes could time travel, he would have told you not to go to the park—to go anywhere else. But Bucky Barnes can’t time travel, and his wife and daughter are gone.

“It’s over. I’ve got you,” Bucky whispers calmingly, his eyes fixed on the dead man in front of him whose head has been bashed in. Bucky lets his hand cradle your head, soothingly petting your hair while he coos at you, trying to calm you. He closes his eyes, still holding you, and tries to get the gruesome image of Frost’s brains painted across the floor out of his head.

A high pitched, constant, obnoxious beeping noise permeates through the room, grating against your nerves. Slowly, you attempt to peel your eyes open, but as you do, you realize your eyelids feel incredibly heavy. With great effort, you manage to open your eyes, only to be met with a room too bright for comfort. Letting your eyes adjust, you take in the room: A sterile, bright, white room. Around the room sits various monitors tracking vitals, a small tray table with a large hospital jug of water, and a counter full of medical supplies. As your foggy mind clears, you realize you’re lying in a hospital bed, and to your right is an empty chair. You frown. How did you get here?

Groaning, you try and sit up, but you feel a sharp pain shoot through your abdomen, and you’re slowly becoming aware of the dull, constant ache in your head. Frowning, you let your fingers trace up your arm until you find the IVs that have made a home there. You yank out the IVs with a pained grunt and let your hand move up to hold your aching head. Seriously, you think, what the fuck? After taking a moment, you find a few more cords that have been attached to you: sensors stuck at pulse points and whatnot. You rip them off and throw your legs over the side of the bed, hoping you can get out of here and find someone to give you some answers. However, once you rip the rest of the wires off of your body, the machines in the room start screaming in protest, alerting whatever nearby medical team that there is that something is wrong. You’ve just set your bare feet on the cold tile floor when a familiar doctor rushes in.

Dr. Cho is wide-eyed and winded when she runs into the room. She quickly takes in the sight before her: A formerly sleeping patient attempting to make a run for it. Dr. Cho sighs heavily before stepping into the room calmly and letting the door shut behind her. Her gentle and practiced hands find your shoulder and gently pushes, forcing you to lie back. Confused and in a startled daze, you don’t protest as she guides you to lie down.

Cho says your name gently. “You shouldn’t be rushing out of here,” she says. “You have extensive internal injuries: a lot of bruising. You experienced some serious trauma out there.” You nod distractedly, your mind racing to put the new information into its place in the puzzle that is your situation since waking up.

“What happened?” You ask, eyes lifting to meet her kind, concerned ones.

“A lot,” she informs. “You fainted after Barnes got you out of that HYDRA base, and you’ve been out like a light since. You have some pretty serious bruising on your wrists and ankles, and you experienced some serious trauma from the electric shocks–especially to the head.” She begins to assess your injuries, pressing her fingers into different places on your abdomen and observing your bruising. She finally nods to herself and picks up a tablet from the counter and types in some notes.

“Now that you’re awake, we will need to call in a psychiatrist to check out your mental health. The kind of trauma you went through certainly warrants it.” You only nod in response.

“What about Bucky? Is he okay?” You ask. Cho gives you a warm and understanding smile and nods.

“He’s fine. Had a few scrapes and bruises here and there, but it’s absolutely nothing the serum won’t fix right up.” You nod.

“And Becca?” 

“She’s fine. She’s been in with Bucky to visit you a few times, but she’s right as rain.”

You let out a relieved breath. “How long was I out?”

“About a week. Like I said, the electrocution was a severe trauma. Could have killed you, but you were lucky.”

You are required to sit through an extensive psych evaluation before you’re finally discharged. The psychiatrist diagnoses you with severe PTSD, explaining that the trauma from being kidnapped, the forced work for HYDRA, and the murder of Frost had deeply affected you in ways that would likely show itself for a long time. He explains that it’s likely you continue to have nightmares and lash out against people who get to close, and he assures you that depressive episodes are to be expected. He takes care suggest (demand, really) that you begin weekly therapy and prescribes a couple medications. You take all he has to say with a disengaged nod.

After a very long day of medical checkups (both physical and mental), you’re exhausted. All you want to do is go home, put on clothes more comfortable than what the medical ward gave you, and lie down in your bed. When you’re released, you walk out of the last room you’d been in, wearing some scrubs that someone found you, and let out a relieved sigh, thankful just to leave the medical ward. As soon as you walk through the door, you are met with the sight of your husband and daughter waiting for you. Becca is teetering back and forth on her heels, clearly full of excitement. Bucky is smiling softly at you.

“There she is! Free at last,” Bucky says. Becca squeals and runs towards you. You notice Bucky’s eyes widen a bit and he reaches out to stop her, but the little girl is too fast and slides right by him. You know he isn’t sure if you’re willing to see her yet–frankly, you weren’t sure until you saw her–but for the first time in months, you don’t feel the guilty twist of a knife when you see her. For the first time in months, you feel as if you’re worthy of seeing your daughter. For the first time in months, you feel like you might deserve the smiles, the laughter, and the crushing bear hugs that your daughter feels inclined to bestow upon you. For the first time in months, you let your daughter near you, and just seeing her run towards you fills you with a peace that you’ve been missing for a long, long time.

“MAMA!” Becca screams, barreling towards you. You drop to your knees and hold your arms out for her, catching her with a grunt as her weight comes into contact with your bruised and sore body.

“Hey, sweetheart,” you breathe, pressing a soft kiss to her head and burying your nose in her hair. You breathe in your daughter with a shaky breath. You’d missed her more than anyone could ever know, even if the reason you hadn’t seen her had everything to do with you avoiding her.

“Mama, I missed you,” she says.

“I missed you, too, baby.”

Bucky is watching the whole interaction with a relieved smile on his face. It’s been months since you’ve held your daughter, and it’s clear that you needed her more than you’d let on. Bucky takes a couple steps closer as you start to pull away, holding Becca at arms length while you get a good look at her.

“You’re so beautiful,” you tell her. “I think you’ve grown a bit!” You place your hand flat on her head as if you’re measuring her. She giggles.

“I did! Daddy says I’m 38 inches! We measured on the wall,” Becca informs you with a wide, toothy grin.

“That so?” You laugh with a smile that could rival hers. Finally, you stand, ruffling your daughter’s hair as you do. You turn to Bucky and smile a little bashfully. He returns the smile and swings his arm around your shoulders, pulling you into his side. He nuzzles his face into your hair and plants a loving kiss there.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” he whispers. “Gave me quite the scare.”

“Sorry,” you mumble, hiding your head into his chest.

“It’s okay. I’m just glad you’re alright. We can just work on moving on now.” His promise finds a home somewhere deep in your chest, and for the first time in a very long time, you feel okay.

Steve calls an emergency meeting to fill you in on what had gone down since you’d been out. The team files into the same conference room that each piece of this disaster had taken place in. The last time you’d been in this room, you had stood in the corner, arms crossed, glaring at everyone. This time, you sit in a chair at the table next to your husband with your 4 year old in your lap. Steve keeps the meeting brief, and you know everyone is just glad to see you back to your relatively normal self.

It has been 2 years since the last time you stepped foot in this park. The last time you’d stepped foot into this park, you and your daughter had been kidnapped by a megalomaniac Nazi obsessed with bringing HYDRA back from the dead, so you’d made a point to avoid it. However, your therapist argues that it’s good to visit traumatic places to help you move on if you have a strong support system with you, so when Bucky informed you that he was taking Becca to the park today, you inhaled a large breath before letting it out slowly and volunteering to come, too. After all, you’d thought,, I can’t avoid parks forever.

So, now you’re strolling through the park with your hand tightly held onto by Bucky’s. You let your arms swing playfully between you two as you watch Becca run ahead of you and occasionally stop to look at a bug or pick up a stick. You ramble about anything and everything with your husband, occasionally interrupting to encourage or tease your 6 year old. It’s genuinely a nice, peaceful time, and you find yourself glad that you pushed yourself to come.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” you say softly as you walk, passing a bench that you remember from the day you were taken two years ago. Bucky squeezes your hand reassuringly. 

“I know, but I’m proud of you,” he says.

“Thank you. For everything.” He kisses your forehead as you keep walking.

“I’m never going to let anything happen to you or Bec ever again,” he says softly, and it’s your turn to squeeze his hand reassuringly.

“I know, baby.”

Your conversation is suddenly cut short, though, when an excited squeal cuts through the warm, afternoon air. The faint sound of footsteps follows the squeal as Becca comes sprinting towards you and Bucky. You squint your eyes to get a good look at her through the bright sunlight. She’s pumping her arms to run faster and holding an interestingly shaped stick as she does.

“Becca, honey, don’t run with sticks!” You exclaim anxiously, suddenly worried she’ll fall and stab herself with her newfound treasure. She slows to a fast walk as she finds herself right in front of you. She looks up at you with her big, beautiful eyes and grins, holding up her stick for you to see.

“Look what I found!” She exclaims, beaming.

“That’s a cool stick, sweetheart,” Bucky says with an amused smile.

“Daddy!” Becca whines. “It’s not a stick! It’s a sword!” She shares the information as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world, rolling her little eyes and frowning at her father’s clear lack of intelligence on the matter. Bucky laughs and lets out a soft, “My bad.” 

“That’s an awesome sword, Bec,” you say with a grin. She smiles wide again and nods her head enthusiastically. 

“Yeah, I know! Do you think brother will like it?”

You smile at her, a gentle hand falling to your swollen stomach to hold it. “Yeah, Bec,” you affirm, “I think brother will like it once he’s big enough to hold it!” She nods introspectively, placing a little finger to her chin while she thinks.

“Maybe I should find him a flower instead. Babies can hold flowers.” You laugh and nod, letting her know that might be a better idea. She nods and runs off to drop the stick and look for an acceptable flower. You lean into Bucky then, still holding your stomach protectively, and take in a deep breath, happy, content, and ready to face whatever life has next for you and your little family.

It would cause you nothing but pain, and yet you found yourself unable to resist clicking onto the trashy article and scrolling through the lines and lines of lies, exaggerations and pure vindictive speculation.

It was par for the course when you were dating a world-famous footballer, but it didn’t make it any easier.

There were several candid photos of you and Barou leaving a restaurant; his arm around your waist, hand secure on your hip whilst he guided you towards his car, and your head lowered to shield you from the attention of the awaiting paparazzi. Another series of photos were of Barou alone, including one of his official headshots and some live action shots from his latest match.

A timid smile curved your lips, one finger touching over his face on the screen. You were on the sidelines that day, watching from the dugout as part of the official team staff, with your heart in your mouth for the entire 90 minutes.

It wasn’t easy being known as the team’s physio when the relationship between the two of you had been exposed. You sniffled into the cuff of your sweatshirt sleeve as doubt started to fill your mind with the worst thoughts imaginable. Maybe they were right. Maybe it would be for the best if you called it quits here.

The bedroom door opened at that moment, and you jumped as if caught red-handed. Shouei walked in from the bathroom, towel wrapped around his hips and hair damp and loose around his shoulders. He wiped a small hand towel against his head at the same time you dabbed furiously at your eyes, snapping shut the laptop and shoving it across the bed.

“What’s wrong?” he asked instantly, his ruby eyes narrowing on you to examine your face whilst you did your best to hide from him. There was a gruffness to his question, but in the next heartbeat he was padding close to tilt your face up, concern evident in his expression.

“Are you crying? Who do I need to kill?”

It was an attempt at humour, and you appreciated it, even though it made your sobs return even louder and harder. Your shoulders rose and fell with them, the misery eating you alive from the inside.

“Hey,” he said. Shouei sat beside and touched your shoulder, you could feel the heat from the shower through his palm and roughened fingers. Tenderly, he reached around until he could pull you across his lap to sit on the towel. It was dry and smelled of his body wash and shampoo. “Talk to me.”

It was a request, not a demand. Your nose rubbed at his broad shoulder; eyes shuttered as if that would somehow block out the emotions. His skin was smooth and peppered in small sun freckles over both shoulders and across the width of his back. They made him more human, a thought you had formed back in those early days when he still seemed untouchable like a celebrity who would never know of your existence despite how much you admired them.

“I don’t want to.”

“Not an option, little dove. C’mon, I need to know what’s bothering my girl so I can fix it.”

“That’s the problem, Sho! Not everything is fixable. Not when everyone seems to be out to split us up,” you half yelled, half cried.

You could feel him freeze beneath you. His posture going utterly rigid, the air in his lungs and throat taking pause whilst an anger swarmed upward and out. It wrapped around you both until you were fully enveloped in its destructive heat. If you let it consume you, there was a chance that things could be torn apart on the heels of pure fury.

As quickly as it emerged, it dissipated. Barou crushed you to his chest and buried his head at your neck. He remained quiet, letting you work out the tears until you were hiccuping with dry sobs. His fingers stroked down your spine, methodical and calculating. You knew his mind had to be racing, but how did you move forward?

“Should we…?” You trailed off, the thought alone lodging a hard lump in your throat that ached to swallow past.

At that, he grabbed at your shoulders and moved you to arm’s length. Those carmine eyes searched your face, searching for a sign to prove if you really meant it and finding none. He would not be fooled by the words, there was no weight in them because they were hollow and untrue.

It was hard to hold his gaze, the little shake he gave every time your eyes started to slide off to the side only emphasised how tight your chest felt even thinking that horrible thought. Your life was better, so much better with him in it. Yes, there were pitfalls and obstacles to overcome but each one had been worth the work.

Shouei licked over his lips. “I don’t want that, do you?”

You shook your head, hair falling into your eyes and clinging to the tears crowded there. You were crumbling right in front of him, and he wasn’t backing away. If anything, he was leaning closer until his forehead rested against yours.

“I don’t care what those cunts published, its not true and I will burn their shitty little offices to the ground if you just ask me to,” he enthused with a growl.

It was enough to make you laugh, though you knew he’d do it if you really wanted him to. Barou Shouei on a mission was a force to be reckoned with. It reminded you of how aggressively he pursed you when he finally worked up the courage to voice his interest. That was a thought for another day…

Your palms cupped his cheeks, thumbs sweeping across the width of his sharp angled eyebrows. “You’re not looking for a model or an actress or some twittering young social media influencer to be your girlfriend?”

“Fuck no!”

“… ‘cause apparently I’m not WAG material,” you said with a sad smile.

Without missing a beat, Barou spun you around on the bed and hovered over you. His breath fanned warm and minty across your skin until you swallowed thickly. He kissed you, and there was nothing fierce or dominating about how his mouth moved atop yours. It was slow and deliberate, as if he could breathe the depth of his love right into your lungs.

The hard planes of his body, that you knew intimately, moulded to your softer ones in perfect cohesion. The contrast was not lost on you, and it wasn’t only evident in physical attributes, but also the difference in your natures. You were two unique pieces that seemed to fit two completely different puzzles, but when connected, you created a whole new picture that was better than the ones that came before.

“I want you, not some woman that’s only with me for how I can benefit them. Vapid, money hungry leeches. Not like you,” he sighed the last words, his nose rubbing against yours. He continued, “I still remember the fight you put up on our first proper date. You wanted to split the bill, and I nearly had a fucking aneurysm with how stubborn you were about it.”

You giggled, your heart feeling lighter for the first time in hours.
