Almost Live Blogging RWBY Vol. 9
Tumblr media
Out of all the directions Volume 9 could have gone, I would have predicted none of it. Well, except the time dilation. Just in the wrong direction, I guess. So partial credit? But what did I think of this latest volume?
In my opinion, this volume is easily the best RWBY has ever been. Well worth the wait. The writing was consistently good to great. The art direction was terrific. The character beats were spot on. And the humor was…okay. (A big improvement.)
I suppose I should stop being coy. OH MY GOD! CANON BUMBLEBY! THEY SAID THE THING! THEY KISSED! HOLY CRAP! HOLY CRAP! HOLY CRAP! CUE THE OFFICE MEME! OH MY GOD, IT’S HAPPENING! EVERYBODY STAY CALM!
I never, ever thought in a million years that they would actually have the stones to pull that trigger. Well credit where credit’s due. Honestly? I kind of feel like the dog who finally caught the car. I’ve got canon Bumbleby, but what do I do with it? I was planning on writing a short fic that takes place during Volume 9 where Yang and Blake confess. Now…I don’t have to? I was not prepared for this.
It actually took me about three times as long as that scene’s runtime to watch it. I kept having to pause and walk away because I saw what they were doing, and I didn’t believe it. I was trying to emotionally prepare for coming so close and being denied. In fact, allow me to reenact (in prose form) the very beginning of that scene for me.
Yang: “But how do we take the next step?”
Me: *eyes narrow*
Me: “No…. No way…. Impossible….”
Me: *pauses and walks away for ten minutes*
Now there’s so much else to talk about. I really, really liked Ruby’s character arc in this volume. I loved the flash back to Summer Rose. I like what they did with Jaune. I liked the cute, polite paper people desperately scheming to embrace the sweet release of death. But forget all that. I want to talk about Neo!
Neo is RWBY’s best character, easily. I’m pretty sure this Volume was her swan song, but I can’t bring myself to be disappointed. Nothing that good can last forever. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Things need to end before they’re milked to death and ruined, or the good idea trough runs dry. (See Star Wars/Trek. Please pick whichever one resonates with you more.)
Now before I saw Volume 9 I would’ve said that them having Neo speak would’ve been a mistake. Oh how wrong I was. Neo speaking through a Greek choir of departed friends? Glorious. Absolutely glorious. And then the cat. Oh the cat. The cat made one, fatal mistake. He messed with Neo. You never, ever mess with Neo. That’s how you get murdered. Instantly and horribly. When it happened I literally jumped up from my seat and shouted something to the effect of, “YOU F!@#ED WITH NEO, CAT! NOW YOU’RE DEAD!” Not language I typically use, by the way.
And Neo’s send off. Only Neo can stop Neo. And even that was an example of how good a character she is. Without saying a word, she said to Ruby, “Don’t forget that I thoroughly beat you.” Goodbye, Neo. Goodbye. You were the flame that burned twice as bright. As beautiful as you were deadly.
(Yes I know that a new Neo…uh…a neo Neo? Will likely appear in a future volume, but while she might be awesome, she won’t be the same. You just can’t top skipping through a field of death without a care in the world with the Relic she stole from Salem because she knows she’s going to get away with it.)
So yes. More RWBY please. Now. I know there’s been a lot of drama surrounding Rooster Teeth recently. I don’t know what any of it is nor do I care to because that’s not how I engage with media. So I guess I’ll have to say the little prayer I always say when a new RWBY volume comes out. Please oh please don’t mess this up.
Oh, and I’m pretty sure Team RWBY+J has met God? So…have fun with that theological can of worms, kids.

Prompt: Bumbleby; Yang running on a treadmill while connected to a heart monitor as part of a stress test, the stress proving too much for Yang's heart, resulting in a massive heart attack/cardiac arrest and Blake must revive her. Feel free to tweak this to your liking.
I'll be honest bud, when I got your prompt it kinda drove crazy. How was I supposed to give Yang, strong healthy woman, a heart attack because of a run??? So, long story short, I deserve a medal for this xD It's a little forced maybe, but I made it work. Hope you'll like it!

--------------------------------------------
“No!”
“Blake, please-”
“No Yang, I won’t let you do this!”
Yang sighed.
The situation in Mantle was tragic, but Dr. Polendina wasn’t the only scientist who enjoyed to work down there. After Ironwood’s martial law, and Salem’s imminent arrival (That giant Grimm whale was as scary as it was slow), he got in touch with some other great minds, friends of his.
There was only so much they could do, and the priority at the moment, considering how Atlas was abandoning them, was to somehow restore the heat generators.
The only way they found was somehow connecting their auras to a device that supposedly would generate heat and get everything back functioning again, but they soon found out that it wasn’t enough; it needed a powerful semblance to link to that.
That’s where Yang comes into play.
Someone so powerful and with a fire-based semblance? It was perfect, a miracle! But the procedure had its risks, and they were mindful to warn and give her a choice.
Predictably enough, Yang accepted the risks and responsibility in a heartbeat. The same couldn’t be said for Blake though.
“You heard them, they need a powerful aura and semblance to have a chance for it to work.”
“Then why don’t we send Nora?” Blake wasn’t proud of herself for being willing to sacrifice another friend above another, but it was Yang they were talking about “Who better than someone with a electricity-based semblance to reactivate a system!?!” she couldn’t lose her.
“Because they need heat, not electricity.” Yang calmly explained. She understood Blake’s feelings, she would’ve acted the same in her place, so she didn’t hold her offering of Nora against her “Plus, Nora conducts electricity, she doesn’t produce it like I do with my fire.”
“I still don’t want you to do this.”
I don’t want to lose you.
“Blake.” Yang carefully approached her, gently taking her hands in hers “I don’t know what else to say. But it might save hundreds of lives: I have to do this.”
The Faunus knew from the beginning that she wouldn’t have been able to change her mind, not when Yang already made her decision, when it was about everyone’s wellbeing, hers included. She just hoped she would.
“I’ll be fine.” Yang added, hoping to soothe at least some of her fears, even if she was in no position to make any promises.
Blake carelessly dropped Yang’s hands, worrying the blonde for a moment, before settling hers around her waist in a crushing hug “You better be.”
Yang hugged her back, holding her around her shoulders and close to her chest. Blake was able to listen to Yang’s heartbeat from there, and she focused on the calming regularity of her beats as if it was the last time she would hear them, yet praying with her whole being that it wasn’t.
They stayed like that until later, when the scientists came to retrieve Yang, informing her that the device was ready. Blake stubbornly followed them, refusing to leave her side; she had a promise to keep after all.
“…this is going to work, right?” Blake asked Pietro, but her real question was clear; will she be safe?
“We took all the available precautions; this is as safe as it can be.” Pietro answered honestly. He learned quickly how much the group valued honesty.
Blake nodded, worryingly looking over Yang. The blonde was on a treadmill, a lot of suction cups with cables connected to a monitor stuck on her chest.
The plan was to slowly trigger her semblance, keeping it under control and using fatigue (aka running) instead of a brutal beating. Yang wasn’t really sure if it would’ve worked like that, but she never tried either. She could even gain a new way to use her semblance out of this, which was good.
“Are you ready?” Piero asked. Yang answered with a thumbs up and an encouraging grin made specifically for Blake.
The scientists turned the device on, and Yang started running, taking it slow to release her semblance power. The monitor lit up with all the data about her aura, semblance, power, and heartbeat. The latter somehow reassured Blake.
After more or less ten minutes they could see it was working. Their machine was taking up on all the energy, storing it until it would be enough to try and reactivate the heat system for the whole city.
Yang was panting and sweating, not much for such a short time run, but under the effort to control her semblance to such a gradual buildup. She now had shiny hair and red eyes, but instead of her usual explosion of fire and power it was like a little flame that she was trying to keep at moderate measure, not too much to burst into a fire and not too less to burn out.
It seemed to go and work pretty well, but the moment Blake started relaxing something went wrong.
The monitor started beeping, Yang’s heartbeat went crazy irregular while the girl gripped on her chest in pain, yet still stubbornly keeping running.
“What is going on?” Blake demanded out of the scientists, but didn’t even let them open their mouth “Yang, stop!”
The blonde did stop, but not because of Blake’s order; her heart abruptly stopped functioning and the girl fell ungraciously to the ground.
“YANG!” Blake screamed, and immediately ran beside her partner.
Uncaring of everything and everyone else, she detached all the devices from Yang and gently laid her back to the ground, checking her wrist and neck both for her pulse. There was none.
Slightly panicked, Blake tried again leaning her hear to her chest, just to get the same answer.
“Yang!” Blake cried again, with tears in her eyes, but refused to let panic and fears control her. No, if she wanted to help her, she needed to stay calm.
Blake took a deep breath, then got immediately to work, straddling Yang’s hips and leaning her hands to her chest. Summoning all the first-aid knowledge she got both from Beacon and the White Fang, she started the first thirty compressions series.
Blake paused, pinched Yang’s nose tight and leaned down to join their lips and blew. She then leaned down to find pulse: there was none.
She tried again and again there was nothing.
“Yang, please!” Blake was fully crying now, but that didn’t stop her from continuing the CPR. “You can’t leave me!” She wouldn’t stop until Yang opened her eyes.
Minutes went by and Blake was getting more and more desperate. She was about to lose hope, when Yang abruptly opened her eyes with a choked gasp.
“Yang!” Blake sighed as the greatest relief she ever felt washed over her. She never thought to say that, but not even their past encounters with Adam scared her like that.
Blake took place beside her, gently pulling the blonde up to help her breath, and only when she was certain Yang was out of risks did she pull her close to her chest.
“…Blake?”
“Don’t you ever scare me like that again! You heard me?” Blake cried in her hair, holding her closer. Yang nodded subtly and hugged her back.
Blake never was a controlling person, knowing from personal experience how bad it felt, and always let others free in their choices. But, as sure as the moon was scattered, as long as she was breathing, she would never let Yang put her life at risk like that ever again.

Kintsugi
Okay. Recently I sent this ask to @bloodraven55
Tumblr media
And ever since then, my brain won’t fucking stop with this bumbleby plot. Why are these girls so inspirational?
I’ve been hesitant to post it because I want to do the girls justice and my anxiety had me convinced I would do something wrong. But I’ll never grow as a writer if it just stays in the damn folders. Constructive criticism is definitely encouraged.
So, here it is *screams in anxiety*
.........................................................................
With contact finally made with General Ironwood, the gang had finally been able to make it to their temporary lodgings; a local inn. Granted, there wasn’t enough rooms to let out to each individual so they were required to share rooms.
Ruby had instantly announced that she was bunking with Weiss. Although, the younger girl had been unable to resist playfully informing Blake that she felt guilty for forcing her sleep in the same room as the team’s tractor. Blake, as was common for the cat faunus, humoured Ruby and went along with it;(giving her partner that little half smirk that Yang was beginning to think was solely meant for her) informing Ruby that it was a sacrifice that she was willing to make for the sake of the team in a rather deadpan manner.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group made their arrangements easily enough and soon enough, the black and yellow pair found themselves in their room. Upon entering, Yang immediately collapsed onto one of the beds, groaning slightly as her body bounced against the thin mattress. Not too long after, she heard the springs of the other bed squeak. Rolling over to look at her partner revealed a completely drained looking Blake, her faunus ears rotating anxiously. It didn’t take Yang long to understand why.
Blake held the remains of Gambol Shroud in her lap, her hands running along the blade. Yang watched, feeling her heartstrings tug painfully for the woman sitting across from her.
Their weapons were, as Ruby liked to remind her, extensions of their souls. There were theories that you could see who a person was based on their weapon and how they used it, much like their semblances. A broken weapon, however, usually left the wielder feeling hollow, like a piece of them had been torn away. Yang understood that feeling all too well; the pain in Blake’s eyes was all too familiar. There was no way in hell that she was going to let her partner go through this alone.
“Hey, you doing okay, Blake?” She asked softly, moving to sit up so that she could meet Blake’s eyes better. Blake didn’t say anything for a moment. She saw the way Blake’s jaw worked, muscles clenching. The way her ears almost blended into her hair. Blake was fighting an internal battle. Yang could only hope that she was ready to accept an ally.
“I will be. Right now, I just want to focus on getting my weapon fixed. I can’t think about..” When Blake finally spoke, it was thick with emotion, breaking off before she could finish her train of thought. Yang stood up and slowly approached Blake. She gently sat on the shorter woman’s right, wrapping her arm around her and slowly drew her in. Blake immediately melted into Yang, a quiet apology whispered against Yang’s collar as she rested her forehead in the crook of Yang’s neck.
“Don’t be. You’ve been through hell and back. If you’re not ready to talk, that’s okay.”
Several moments passed as the two women took comfort within each other’s presence, content to stay as they were. Yang, however, knew that Blake was anxious to get her weapon sorted out.
“Do you want some help with Gambol Shroud? Ruby’s a huge geek when it comes to these things so…” She started to ask, only to be interrupted.
“Actually, I was kind of hoping that you might help me?” “Of course.” Yang cooed softly into Blake’s hair after a moment. “What did you have in mind?”
It was an honour to help somebody with their weapon and as such required a certain level of trust that must not be taken for granted or abused. Something that Yang would never do to the incredible woman sitting beside her.
Yang didn’t know why it threw her for a loop. She really shouldn’t have been surprised; ever since Blake had come back, the girl had been more affectionate and open with her friends. Perhaps it was only natural that she trusted her partner with her weapon.
“Kintsugi.” Yang blinked at the simple reply. “Come again?” She asked, somewhat confused. She felt, more than heard, the sigh that left Blake as she sat up and wiped her eyes to look at Yang.
“Sometimes I forget that there’s such a difference between our cultures.” Blake mused as she rolled her eyes slightly. Yang tilted head down at Blake.
“So, it’s a faunus culture thing?” Yang asked, genuinely interested. She had always loved listening to Blake talk about her culture; her eyes would light up when talking, almost seeming to sharpen from warm amber to molten gold. She always spoke with so much passion; it was something that Yang had always found immensely attractive.
“Yes. It’s, well, it’s the tradition of repairing broken items with gold. Usually pottery, but we tend to use it for broken weapons as well. It’s actually a really important part of our culture.” Biting her lip thoughtfully, shifting so that she could lay Gambol Shroud out on the bed between them.
“I was actually thinking of using gold to repair my blade. Maybe extend it a little. What do you think?” Yang knew that there was a very different reason for the choice, but she couldn’t help the way her cheeks suddenly felt a little bit too warm at the thought of Blake having gold on her weapon.
She shook herself out of it and placed her hand on Blake’s. “If it’s important to you, I say go for it.” She replied, smiling softly. Blake cocked her head slightly, a small, almost bashful smile crossing her features.
“It’s very important, Yang. We believe that when something is broken, it’s beauty is not diminished. If anything, it adds to it.” Blake adjusted their hands, idly fiddling with Yang’s fingers. She almost seemed nervous. Yang’s brows furrowed, but she opted to remain silent.
“For some of us, it can be difficult at first. But if you give your gold the opportunity to fill the cracks, you’ll realise that those cracks show how special something is. The journey that’s been traveled.” Yang gazed at her partner with a renewed sense of awe. There was something in her words that made her suspect that she wasn’t talking about Gambol Shroud anymore.
“I think it’s kind of like you and me, you know. You helped fill the cracks that he made. Helped me see that I’m no less worthy because of the scars he left. You helped reforge a broken, scared girl into the person that you saw that night in Mountain Glenn. You’re my gold, Yang, my kintsugi.” Blake’s voice was filled with conviction, as though she held no doubt in her words.
Yang’s jaw had dropped. She knew that Blake cared for her. However, the degree of which she cared had stunned her into silence. What could she even say to that? How could she possibly begin to explain how much Blake’s words meant to her? She looked away for a moment and tried to swallow the lump that had formed in her throat. But perhaps words were necessary; she did believe in actions speaking louder than words, after all.
Yang attempted to blink back the tears that threatened to fall before moving Blake’s weapon aside. “C’mere, you.” Yang croaked out before pulling Blake into a tight hug, nuzzling into her neck in a desperate attempt to hide the tears that fell. Deceptively strong arms immediately wrapped around her, while a gentle hand ran soothingly through her hair. Yang, for the first time in years, allowed herself to receive the comfort that she had so freely given and so seldom been returned. There was no doubt in Yang’s mind about whether or not her feelings mattered to Blake; together they were here and together they would heal.
There was no doubt that they still had a lot to talk about. Both women knew that. But for the moment, they were content simply knowing that something was forming between them. Or perhaps it was something else entirely; something that existed long before their eyes met across the body of an Ursa, just waiting for them to find the missing fragment of their broken souls. The one that would become their kintsugi.

war, peace, and parents
Bumbleby Week Day 2 - Meeting the parents
Blake meets Raven first, and the woman is both nothing and everything like she expected.
Blake meets Yang’s parents, one at a time, while the war rages on.
Blake meets Raven first, and the woman is both nothing and everything like she expected.
It happens in the frozen tundra acting as the unofficial border of the Atlas kingdom, in the middle of a fight that team RWBY is loosing. Qrow and the others are still at the Academy, protecting the relic, but the four of them followed a mysterious trail of evidence, which lead them out of the city - and right into an ambush.
So here they are, surrounded by Grimms, tired and wounded and desperate. Ruby has stopped talking, face drawn in concentration as she fires shot after shot. Weiss is out of Aura, blood dripping from a nasty cut on her left arm, thrusting her weapon in wide circular motions to keep the monsters at bay. And Blake and Yang are fighting back to back, both Aura-less as well, and exhausted, but determined to stand together till the end.
Suddenly, the air vibrates with an eerily low hum, and a red cloud forms as reality tears itself apart. A woman emerges from the void, her long sword drawn out, and cuts a giant Beowulf in half with one brutal strike. Blake freezes, shocked. Yang tenses behind her too. The woman doesn’t talk, just keeps carving a path through the Grimms, and the evil creatures, perhaps sensing a turn of the tide, hesitate.
It’s what saves the four of them. Jumping on the opportunity, they all attack at once, with renewed energy and sheer will power, until the Grimms have all been reduced to black dust on the snow, and the only sound in the tundra is their ragged breathing.
The woman sheathes her sword. Blake finally gets a clear look at her face, and she gasps, audibly, because she sees Yang. An older Yang, whose mouth has a bitter curve to it, whose eyes are burning red yet so very cold, whose posture screams confidence and loneliness.
“Mom,” Yang says, confirming Blake’s guess. Her voice is neutral, but Blake notices the way her human hand shakes ever so slightly, so she grabs it, instinctively, hoping to comfort her. Raven’s eyes follow the movement, fixed on their joined hands for a few seconds, before she cocks her head and smiles at Yang.
It’s not a sweet smile.
“You’re welcome,” she says. Yang bristles, immediately.
“Yeah, so nice of you to show up at the end of a fight, to take all the credit.”
Raven shakes her head, playing at the disappointed mother. “That’s the thanks I get for saving your life again, Yang?”
Blake tilts her head, intrigued. Raven is obviously mocking them, everything in her tone and words carefully crafted to appear both dismissive and critical, but… But there’s something else, buried under the pretense and affectation, something genuine, something that sounds like a plea.
“Thank you for your help, Raven,” Blake says on an impulse, politely, calmly, and oh, that gets her a reaction, both from Yang, who glances at her incredulously, and from Raven, whose jaw tightens like she’s expecting a fight.
Weiss takes a step forward, glaring at Raven. Ruby makes her way to Yang instead, one arm outstretched like she wants to reach for her sister but isn’t sure she should.
Raven ignores them both, eyes locked on Blake. “So, you’re the one who left her.”
It hits Blake in the chest like a punch, stealing her breath, even though she should have expected it.
“Don’t you dare talk to her like that!” Yang starts, hotly, and though Blake feels infinitely grateful for her loyalty, her protectiveness, she squeezes Yang’s hand, once. Yang understands at once the wordless request and stops talking.
“It’s okay,” Blake says, voice dangerously soft, looking Raven straight in the eye. “I came back.”
Raven’s eyes widen, and her mask of indifference crumble, destroyed by the unsaid, yet indisputable truth implied in Blake’s words. I came back, you never did.
Silence falls on them all, heavy and stifling. Yang’s hand is shaking again, minuscule tremors in her fingers, but Blake is holding her tight, anchoring her to the ground.
And then Raven’s shoulders drop, her hands fall open at her sides, as if the fight just melted from her body altogether, and what’s left is a woman filled with regrets. “I’m here now,” she lets out, softly, not looking anyone in the eye.
“And we could use your help to make it back safely to Atlas,” Blake says as a peace offering. “So, will you stay?”
Raven raises her head, but this time she’s looking at Yang. She nods, and waits. After a few seconds, Yang nods back.
“If you even think of betraying us again, I’ll end you,” Weiss says between gritted teeth, before gesturing with her hand. “Lead the way.”
Raven strides past them, and Weiss and Ruby follow suit, clumsily treading through the snow. Before they start walking as well, Blake turns to face Yang, worry bubbling in her stomach.
“Hey, are you okay? I hope I didn’t overstep…”
“Are you kidding me? That was amazing. You’re the first person I’ve seen who made her drop the act like that.” Yang brushes a strand of hair away from Blake’s face, tucks it underneath her winter hat. “Thank you,” she murmurs, so tenderly that Blake’s heart leaps out of her ribcage, pulling and tugging until she gives in and kisses Yang on the lips, right here in the middle of nowhere, feet deep in the snow and body sore from the fight.
***
Taiyang meets up with them in Vacuo, and Blake feels immense gratitude for his presence, because when she sees him, Yang smiles a real smile for the first time in days.
Since their terrible defeat in Atlas, none of them has been in the mood to smile. Salem took the relic, the winter maiden, and Maria’s life, and left them hopeless and crushed, fleeing in a stolen airship while Atlas crumbled and burned.
So they travel to Vacuo, to lick their wounds and live another day, and Taiyang is waiting for them on the aircraft field when their ship lands, blond hair bleached by the desert sun. Ruby and Yang run towards him, and he catches them both in his arms, hugging them tightly against his chest. Blake watches him drop a kiss on Ruby’s forehead, his hand curled around the nape of Yang’s neck. She looks away, waiting on the side. Weiss comes to stand near her, bumping shoulders together, while Jaune and his team unload the bags.
Blake and Weiss exchange a glance, and she knows they’re both thinking of their own family right now - of Winter, still in Atlas somewhere, of Whitley, evacuated to Mistral with Weiss’s mother, of Jacques Schnee’s body buried under the ruins of his mansion. She takes Weiss’s hand in her own, and feels Weiss gently squeezing her fingers in response.
Blake spares a thought for her parents, heart bursting with love and worry, and hopes they’re back in Menagerie, far away from the war. When they parted way in Haven, Ghira had told her they wanted to travel through Anima and Solitas, building the new Faunus movement one town at a time. Selfishly, she prays they weren’t able to do their trip. She just wants them safe.
Taiyang lets go of his daughters, so Blake and Weiss approach the trio. Before any of them can talk, he catches Blake by the shoulders, and smiles. “You must be Blake!”
His voice is much lower, a little gravelly, but something about it - the intonation maybe, or the warmth - reminds her of Yang so strongly she’s momentarily too stunned to reply. He doesn’t seem to mind, pulling her in a loose hug, and releasing her while she mumbles an awkward Nice to meet you.
While he turns to greet Weiss - who very firmly extends a hand - Yang comes up to Blake, hands thrown in the back pockets of her shorts.
“So…that was my dad. Sorry he’s kind of intense.”
Blake chuckles. “Don’t apologize. I’m glad he seems to like me.”
“Babe,” Yang says, looking at her intently, and Blake’s cheeks darken a little at the word, “I don’t see how anyone could not like you.”
Blake shakes her head but accepts the compliment, smiling despite herself. She hasn’t felt this light since before Atlas, and it’s nice, to joke around with Yang, to flirt casually, to just breathe.
The respite doesn’t last long. That night, she wakes up drenched in cold sweat, head filled with images of the battle, of the dead, pulse beating erratically in her throat. Yang is still asleep, sprawled on the thin mat next to Blake in the tent they share. She looks so peaceful, her face relaxed at last, that Blake can’t bring herself to wake her up, so she quietly exits the tent, hoping for some fresh air to calm her nerves.
It’s freezing outside. They’re camping in the desert, on the outskirts of Shade Academy, and the cold surprises her. She’s used to the Menagerie nights, hot and humid, but this reminds her of nights in Atlas, despite the sand dunes surrounding them. She shivers, and heads towards the campfire.
Taiyang is there, by the fire, sitting on a wooden bench and standing guard. When he sees her, he waves, welcoming. She sits down in front of him, wishing she’d brought a sweater. There’s a big clay teapot hanging above the flames. Taiyang reaches for it, pours some tea in a banged up tin cup and offers it to her. “Can’t sleep?”
She nods, and cradles the cup in her freezing hands, grateful for the warmth.
“She’s loved you for a long time, you know.”
Blake jerks her head up to stare at him, so fast something twinges painfully in her neck. “I’m sorry?”
He chuckles, mouth twisting in an amused smile. “You should have seen the letters she sent me when you guys were in school. My partner is so cool, Dad!” he says, high-pitched voice obviously meant to mimic Yang’s as a teenager. “She’s really witty, and an amazing fighter, I think we’re gonna be great friends, I can’t wait for you to meet her!”
Blake snorts. “I’ll have to read those letters someday, if only for the self-esteem boost.”
“Well, you’re welcome to our house in Patch anytime.” There’s a pause, a silence, and his face grows serious, contemplative. “You broke her heart when you left.”
Well, she kind of expected him to bring that up. “I know,” Blake says, staring at her cup. It hurts a little, still, to think about that time, how lost and afraid and guilty she felt. It’s like poking at an old fracture, and feeling the faint ache where the bone broke. She wonders if some wounds are too deep for the pain to ever fade away.
Taiyang is waiting for her to say more, she realizes, so she steels herself. “I am sorry,” she tells him, meeting his gaze steadily. But this isn’t what he wants from her, because he starts shaking his head.
“No, there’s no need for an apology, Blake.”
“Why not?” she asks, before she can stop herself. “I did leave her behind.”
“Well, we’ve all made mistakes, haven’t we? Gods know I’ve made my fair share of them. You’re with her now, and that’s all she ever needed, I think. Someone who stayed.” He pauses again, looking like he’s struggling with words. “I’m not here to blame you, the only reason I’m bringing up the past is… I want to make sure you…” He rubs the back of his neck, sighs, looks up at Blake. “She’s loved you for a long time,” he repeats, simply.
Blake sips her tea, and thinks of a promise she made, months ago. “And I will love her for even longer,” she whispers.
Taiyang’s eyes soften. “She’s very lucky to have you, Blake.”
She smiles. “We’re lucky to have each other.”
***
Summer’s grave is a simple tombstone in a small clearing, at the top of a high cliff. Trees rise all around it, a curtain of deep green leaves, and the heady scent of wildflowers permeates the air. There are words on the white stone, but moss is slowly creeping up on them, and Blake can’t quite decipher the epitaph.
Yang inhales, shakily, and takes a few steps forward until she’s standing right in front of the grave. She’s limping, still, from a bad wound to her left knee. Blake doesn’t look much better - even her aura couldn’t take care of all the cuts and bruises she received in their final battle against Salem, but it doesn’t matter, now, the pain and the blood and the tears. The war is over. They won.
“She would be so proud of you,” Blake says, quietly. She’s standing a few feet behind, giving Yang some space.
Yang’s shoulders shake. She doesn’t say anything. A small blue bird flies low, and lands on the grass to Blake’s right - in the trees, the cicada sing. It’s a beautiful summer afternoon, sunny and peaceful. Stillness, after the chaos of war, is something they won’t ever take for granted.
“I used to come here a lot when I was a kid,” Yang says after a long silence. “Sometimes I took Ruby with me, but often I came alone. Dad was working a lot, Qrow was almost always away on missions, and I… I missed her. So I’d hike to the top of the cliff, sit on the grass, and talk to her.”
Blake thinks of a lonely, grieving girl in front of an empty grave. Her throat tightens painfully. She walks up to Yang, and brushes the back of Yang’s hand, softly, fingers gently following the knots and dips of her knuckles. Yang glances at her, with a small smile at the corner of her lips. “I still miss her.”
“I wish I could have known her,” Blake whispers. She leans against Yang’s side, tucks her head in the space between Yang’s shoulder and her neck. Yang’s arm comes around her waist, as natural as breathing, one hand holding Blake’s hip, and she rests her cheek on top of Blake’s hair.
“Me too. She would have loved you.”
“You think?” Blake asks, and is surprised to find how much this matters to her.
“Oh, absolutely. She was as nerdy as you, always with her nose in a book. You guys would have definitely driven me nuts.”
Blake snorts. “Oh, please. Like you don’t steal all my romance novels to read them at night when you think no one’s watching. Ruby told me she caught you actually crying over the last chapter of Ninjas of Love.”
Yang huffs, fingers drumming against Blake’s hip. Blake can’t see her face, but she hears the smile in her voice when she grumbles: “Nobody knows the concept of privacy in this team.”
Blake laughs in her neck, and then they stand in silence for a bit, pressed so close together Blake can barely tell where her own body stops, where Yang’s skin begins.
Eventually, Yang presses soft lips on the top of Blake’s head, and nudges her hip. “We should go back. It’s getting late, and I promised Dad we would help him cook dinner.”
It’s true, but Blake looks at the white grave, and there’s something she wants to say, something she needs both Yang and Summer to hear. So she turns around to face Yang, and raises one hand, cupping her cheek, careful not to touch the barely-healed cut on her jaw. “You know, there’s another reason Summer and I would have gotten along well,” she murmurs.
Yang’s eyes are wide and earnest, glinting like gemstones in the afternoon sunlight. “What is it?”
“We both love you.”

Yellow and Purple... And Purple... And Purple
This is for the second day of the Bumbleby Week! Meeting the parents! Hope you guys enjoy it ^-^
Yang didn't know why she was this nervous. She had seen Kali and Ghira in various other occasions. That time when Haven almost fell. That time in Vacuo, when they and Blake reunited. That time they were planning on the final battle against Salem. That time they were celebrating the Grimm lady's defeat. Hell, they had even talked and laughed together.
This was the first time the four of them were going to have dinner together, though. Yang was not a fellow warrior, she was their daughter's girlfriend. She felt like there was a whole new weight there. Not that she thought they would kick her out of their lives and shout at her, but she did want to make a good impression on them as a person. More than just as that, but also as the person who wanted to spend the rest of her days with Blake.
"Tie or no tie?" She asked her girlfriend, who was sitting in their bed. Blake was wearing a long violet slitted dress and black high heels. Her short black hair was free, looking silky and beautiful as ever. Her yellow eyes contrasted with her clothes, and were as striking as ever. She looked gorgeous.
"Yang, I already told you. Whatever you decide will be okay with them. My parents love you already, you don't have to try to impress them." Blake answered, smiling softly at Yang. The blonde was dressed in brown leather shoes, dark jeans, a yellow button up and a purple vest. The shirt's sleeves were rolled up, showing both her forearms as she held the black bow tie with her right hand. Her hair was up in a ponytail, exposing the tattoo she had gotten with Blake's emblem on the right side of her neck. It matched Blake's own of Yang's emblem, which was in the left side of her neck.
"But... I don't know if it's overdressing to put it, or if it'd be too informal." Yang sighed, looking at the piece of clothing in her hand. Blake got up, going to the other's side. She kissed Yang's tattoo, and then the blonde's jaw. Then, she pulled away a bit and took the tie from her girlfriend's hand, wrapping it around her neck. With that, she pulled Yang to her, using the cloth. She kissed Yang on the lips, surprising her.
After a few seconds, Yang put her hands on the other's waist and pulled Blake's body flush to her. The faunus bit the brawler's lower lip and then licked it, making the taller girl moan lightly. Blake, as the tease she is, pulled away and left Yang wishing for more. The two looked into each other's eyes for a few moments, and the raven haired smiled at her partner.
"You look perfect to me, sunshine."
"Uh... then I guess it's settled, huh?" Yang said, a bit dreamy.
"It is." Blake chuckled. "Let's go?"
"Let's!"

As they entered the restaurant, they immediately spotted Kali and Ghira sat in a four chairs table by the window. The place was not that big; it was a cozy and beautiful pizza place that Blake and Yang had found after they moved back to Vale. They loved going there, and when Kali called telling them she and Ghira would spend some time in the city, the girls knew where they would take Blake's parents first. They didn't offer for the pair to stay in their apartment because it didn't have much room, though, so the older pair stayed at a hotel.
Blake and Yang walked to the table, and were met with opened arms. Ghira hugged Yang, while Kali held their daughter before they switched.
"Yang, sweetie, you look terrific!"
"T-thanks, Mrs. Belladonna! You look amazing yourself."
"Oh, please drop the formalities. We're already past that."
"Sure thing, ma'am. I mean, Kali."
"I think your girlfriend is nervous, Blake." Ghira commented to his daughter, grinning at his wife and at Yang.
"You had to see her earlier. She was about to explode."
"Was not!" Yang protested, as they sat in their chairs. "I just wanted to look good."
"As if that would take much effort." Blake smirked, nudging Yang's arm. Ghira served them some of the wine he had ordered before the girls arrived. "You're very good looking already."
"Uh... ehehe... yeah, I am."
"Her confidence in her looks matches Ghira's when we were your age." Kali smiled at them.
"It runs in the muscles club!" Ghira exclaimed, flexing. His biceps were designed by his black blazer, and were visibly enormous.
"Yeah!" Yang grinned back, flexing as well. "These guns can kill with how they look!"
"What are yours named? Mine are Mogli and Baloo."
"Mine are Nemeia and Lerna!"
"Now, now. You can bond over your 'guns' later." Kali said, smirking at them as Blake glared at some girl who was staring at Yang. "How have you two been doing here in Vale?"
"Oh, it's been great! I got a job at Beacon to teach combat to the students there. Kids are great, and I'm glad to be a part of their learning experience." Yang smiled at the image of her students. "Funny how I always saw myself running the world at twenty five, and now I'm stuck in Vale, teaching a bunch of kiddos."
"Life does have a lot of surprises for us in its course. We can either learn from them, and embrace the changes that come, or keep running and be stubborn." Ghira shared his wisdom. "I'm glad you were able to find something that, while surprising to you, makes you happy."
"So am I." Kali smiled at her daughter's girlfriend. "You deserve to be happy, Yang. You both do."
"Well, I'm not the celebrity here, though! Blake's the youngest senator ever elected in Vale, and is the first faunus to ever achieve that here!" Yang said, taking the attention off herself.
"It's not that big of a deal, Yang. And 'celebrity' is a bit of a reach. I'm at the service of the people of Vale. And I have a duty with the faunus and the Faunus Rights cause, which includes conciliating their interests to whatever is good to the rest of the people, combat prejudice, and make sure that the rallies don't become anything harmful to either of the parties." Blake explained.
"Well... you're also a famous writer now, so I still stand with celebrity." Yang teased.
"Famous writer?" Kali raised an eyebrow. "And why haven't your works reached Menagerie yet? The disrespect..."
"Um... i-it's nothing much yet, mom. I'm still, uh, starting here, in Vale before I get big."
"She writes smut and doesn't want it to get to you guys." Yang blurted out.
"Yang!" Blake shouted at her girlfriend, ears down and face color a bright shade of red. "That was one scene in one book. Why can't you let it go already?!"
Yang was laughing out loud, hands on her belly. Ghira and Kali were shocked for a few moments, before joining Yang in her laughter. "It always g-gets to her!" Yang managed to say as laughter dimmed to wheezing breaths.
"Oh my goodness." Kali wiped her tears of laughter away. "Blake, why didn't you just tell us already?"
"I-I... it's just... you're my parents, and... ugh!" Blake hid her face in her hands. "This is so embarrassing."
"C'mon, baby..." Yang put her left hand on Blake's exposed back, making the young woman shiver a bit. "It's not like they're mad."
"Yeah." Ghira agreed. "As much as I don't like to admit it, you're a grown woman now, Blake. If you write those... um... things, it's not a problem. You're free to do what you please with your writing."
"I agree with your father." Kali smiled at her. "And I would actually enjoy reading your books. Knowing you, they must be great."
"Oh, they are!" Yang's voice showed a lot of excitement. "I've beta read them all, and Blake is a great writer. She puts a lot of effort in them, and it shows that she practiced and read a lot to get where she is now. She's very hardworking, and deserves all the attention and praise her readers can give."
The eyes of Blake's parents shone in emotion. They were glad to see someone who talked about their daughter with such emotion, such affection. Yang was clearly in love with Blake, and every little movement showed it. There was no way in this world they would be able to hate this girl.
"I like her." Ghira said, pointing at Yang with a smile. "I like her a lot."
"You've been saying that ever since the moment you saw her back in Haven." Kali smiled.
"At least I got it right. Blake likes her too."
"Well, she liked Sun when they first arrived in Kuo Kuana."
"Kali, she glared at him more than I did."
"I glared at you a lot too."
"You stared at me with affection, Kali. Like, heart eyes and all."
"We're not debating this right now, are we?" Blake questioned through clenched teeth. "Sun was a friend, I already told you that."
"Blake," Yang put a hand on her girlfriend's arm, smiling at her. "We all know you crushed at him at some point. No need to get angry."
"I crushed on him, yeah. But I love you."
"I know, I know." Yang pecked Blake's cheek. "Just teasing, love."
Blake gave her a small smile, and gave Yang's lips a small kiss. Kali awed and Ghira smiled softly at their small display of affection, remembering their young years. They knew how it felt, being young and in love.
The night passed by smoothly, and they ate pizza together and laughed a lot. They were all enveloped by a pleasant atmosphere, feeling good in each other's presence. Yang's worries seemed very dumb to her by the time their dinner was over. Blake was right, Ghira and Kali already loved her. It was easy to be in their company, just like it was easy to be in Blake's. She could see many similarities between her girlfriend and her parents, and it was endearing.
"Well... this was a great night." Ghira said after giving both the young women a tight hug.
"The greatest." Kali smiled at them. "Now answer me, when's the wedding?"
"W-wedding?" Yang asked.
"Yeah." Ghira answered. "It's a generations old tradition in Menagerie. When one's girlfriend or boyfriend is introduced to their parents, they must get married. That is, if their intentions are good."
"Oh, um..." the blonde felt cornered.
"Yeah, Yang. If you wish to keep dating me, you must propose."
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't know of that. I... uh... I don't have a proposal ring with me right now, b-but I'll get one once my payment is out this month! I meant no disrespect, I-"
She was cut off by laughter, and looked at the three faunus in front of her, confused. The three seemed to be having the time of their life. Did she say something funny? Did she sound too desperate? Why in the world were they laughing so hard at her?
"She... she actually fell for it!" Ghira's laughter was the loudest, deepest sound Yang had ever heard coming from him, beating even his loud roar.
"W-what...?" Yang let out, voice shaky in confusion, and she barely caught Blake as her girlfriend hugged her, giggling.
"Oh, Yang, you're too pure for this world..."
"I still don't get it. Is the marriage thing true or not?"
"Of course not, dear." Kali smiled at her. "Your time to marry is for the two of you to decide."
"Geez..." Yang sighed, a bit of relief. "I do propose some times while talking to myself, but I wasn't ready for the real thing all of sudden."
The four of them laughed a bit more, enjoying the aftermath of the prank. They said their goodbyes, and the black and yellow duo got in Blake's car, and headed home.
"See? It wasn't all that bad, was it?" Blake asked when they stopped in a red light.
"Not at all! Your parents are lovely. I really liked getting to meet them outside of a battle planning occasion." Yang smiled, and pecked Blake's cheek just before the light turned green. "About the proposal, though... do you really, y'know, think about it?"
Blake tuned a left before answering. "I mean... we do live together already. A marriage would be making it official, right?" Blake's response was a bit nervous.
"Yeah..."
"Yang?" Blake looked at Blake briefly. "You okay?"
"It's just... I promised myself I would only marry someone I was sure that would be with me for the rest of our days. That wouldn't leave when we had a child, or... or die all of sudden. It's... kind of a big deal to me." Yang rubbed the back of her neck. "I don't wanna do it unless you're not completely ready, though. I know you're the person I want to go into afterlife with, but I don't want you to feel pressured into marrying now."
"I..." Yang's confession made Blake's heart swell with affection. "Just a few more years. I don't really feel ready right now."
"Okay. Whenever you're ready. I don't think I'm ready yet, either."
Blake smiled at her girlfriend and reached her hand to give Yang's thigh a small squeeze, before wrapping it back around the steering wheel. Then, they kept talking about other subjects, such as random moments of the night. The two of them were glad they talked about the marriage item, and were grateful that Ghira and Kali brought it up. The dinner was such a nice encounter, one they would have in their memories for a long time.

Day 2 of Bumbleby Week - Meeting the Parents
(Quick shout-out to the user @rwby-party, who made the post I got the idea from.)
The humidity would dry up the further west they got. Landing in Vale, however, the summer was hot and the moisture in the air bogged them down. Yang had already ditched her bomber jacket on the airship; even in Atlas, she’d started wearing it less and less. Hot days weren’t completely unheard of in Solitas, she’d come to find out. She sighed and pressed her water bottle against her throat, grateful for its coolness.
“It’s hot,” Blake agreed, sidling up to her. She tucked her hair behind her hair, a habit that had popped up with its new length. Yang grinned at her.
“I am.”
Blake tilted her head, wry amusement twisting her smile. “I can’t tell if you’re being suggestive on purpose or not.”
“Yes.”
Blake’s laughter rang out, the sound a tickle to Yang’s ears. In spite of all the challenges that Atlas had presented, the heavy burden that Blake had carried had visibly lightened. That ever-present shadow of a madman no longer weighed her down. Laughter came more easily, smiles were wider.
They were closer than ever before, and Yang soaked up every minute of it. She slid an arm around Blake’s waist, giving her a quick peck on the lips as she did so.
“Did the pilot say how long we’ll be here?” she asked. Blake’s body brought additional warmth to the hot day, but when it was Blake, Yang didn’t mind so much. Blake shrugged.
“Maybe a couple hours. Just long enough to refuel and pick up the huntsmen.”
Their last week in Atlas had ended with a call to arms. Vacuo needed them, as well as all the huntsmen and huntresses who were able to come along. While the bulk of the Atlas military was making a straight shot for Shade Academy, Team RWBY had opted to take the more roundabout route, helping to recruit every able-bodied huntsman or student along the way. Not that they needed to beg; so many of them had rallied to Vale at the first notice, quickly filling up the airships.
It was heartening, that after so many setbacks, people were finally cooperating with them.
While Ruby and Weiss had run off to get a view of Beacon, Blake and Yang had opted to remain behind. It would have been interesting to see Ruby’s stone wyvern, but the Beacon that loomed over the shambles of Vale wasn’t the Beacon that had brought them together. The school was still a ruin, and looking at it would have reawakened too many memories that Yang would rather remain buried.
Instead, they stayed at the airship’s landing site. Atlesian military personnel were doing the quick intakes of licensed huntsmen, more for their own records than an actual vetting process. With what was going on in Vacuo, they couldn’t afford to be picky. Yang had looked through the crowd at first, hoping to catch the eye of any old teachers or classmates she might have recognized. There was Oobleck, and Port, both eager and ready to come along. Goodwitch, however, felt bound to her school, empty as it was, and chose to remain in Vale. But for the most part, the faces in the line were unknown to her. Most of these huntsmen and huntresses were strangers.
It was probably for the best. She wasn’t sure how many of them would make it out alive. She couldn’t even be certain that her own team would make it through. She bit her lip.
“Come back to me, Yang,” Blake murmured, sensing she was no longer mentally with her. Yang snapped to attention, looking at Blake with wide eyes. “I can tell you’re worrying again.”
“Oh.” Yang shrugged it off, not wanting her own fears to drag them down. She had to live in the moment, she reminded herself. She couldn’t afford to fear for an unknown future. “Sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologize.” Blake found her hand, squeezed it. “We’ll get through this.”
Yang nodded, and for a moment, they watched in silence as the queue steadily moved. The professional huntsmen, the ones who had been at it for years, were easy to pick out. Their packs were small and light, weapons within easy reach. The newer ones and the out-of-practice ones had more luggage than was probably wise. More than once, someone would protest as they were told to leave luggage behind. There was limited space on the airships, and there was a strict limit as to how much baggage someone could bring.
“But they only brought one bag. Surely that means I can have just one extra one!” someone complained. Yang rolled her eyes.
“If I’m ever like that, shoot me,” she told Blake in a low voice. Blake snorted.
“Yang? Is that you?!”
She nearly jumped at the recognition of that voice. She whirled, staring as a tall blonde man approached. His blue eyes were wide in disbelief, mirroring her own. “Dad?!”
Blake let her go, backing off as Yang and Taiyang embraced. It was so surprising, but it shouldn’t have been, not really. Taiyang Xiao Long was a huntsman in his own right, a teacher, and someone who would always leap headfirst into a fight.
Of course he would sign himself up to go to Vacuo.
“I’m surprised to see you back in Vale,” he remarked. “The last I heard from Qrow, you were trying to get to Atlas.”
“And we made it. We’re just laying over here for a bit to pick up some more huntsmen.” Yang jutted her head to the line. “Ruby’s here, too, but she and Weiss ran off to try and see the school.”
“I see.” Only now did Taiyang’s gaze flicker to Blake, and Yang was dismayed to see the way it hardened. “So this must be…”
“Blake.” Defensively, Yang lifted a beckoning arm to Blake. After a moment’s brief hesitation, she approached, allowing Yang to hold her close. “My girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend,” Taiyang repeated, almost as if the word was foreign to him. Still, he didn’t let whatever his own impression of her overrule his courtesy. He extended a hand. “Taiyang Xiao Long.”
“It’s… nice to meet you,” Blake replied, a slight shake to her voice as she gripped his hand. His manner wasn’t lost on her, either. “I’ve heard so much about you.”
Yang looked from Blake to her father, trying to figure out the unevenness of the interaction. Taiyang was friendly to a fault, and the fact that he could be so cold toward someone made absolutely no sense. She frowned at him. There were pieces that weren’t fitting together, and it made her uneasy.
“So have I,” he replied to Blake, and there it was. His demeanor suddenly made sense. Yang’s gaze softened.
“Dad… Things are cool now,” she told him, grip tightening on Blake’s waist. “We met back up in Mistral, and we… figured things out.”
Taiyang raised one eyebrow, the hairs oddly pale against his tanned skin. “Figured things out?” he asked, voice suspiciously light. Yang sighed.
After the Fall of Beacon, she had returned to Patch a wreck, only a shell of the girl she’d been. It hadn’t just been her missing arm, though losing it had presented its own challenges. Her biggest wound had been one that couldn’t be replaced by fancy Atlesian technology. Her last memory of Blake had been seeing her sprawled on the floor, a man in a mask standing over her with a sword in hand. When she had woken up, it wasn’t just her arm that was missing.
Blake was gone, too.
Yang had supposed Ruby had filled him in on the murky details of that last night in Vale, probably putting words to the hurt, grief, and the rage that vied for dominance in Yang’s heart. She’d never spoken Blake’s name to her father, nor the intensity of their bond, nor the constant ache she’d felt since that bond had snapped. But Ruby had told him enough to make the connection, and as a man who’d been broken by love before, he could understand.
So, too, could she understand his wariness now that Blake was with her again.
“Dad,” she said, determined to right this before it had a chance to warp further. “So much has happened since I left. Both of us… me and Blake… we’ve made mistakes. But we’re moving past them.”
Blake turned to her quizzically, and Yang flashed her a reassuring smile. Still, Taiyang didn’t seem convinced. He looked from Yang, to Blake, and then back to his daughter. He sighed. “Sure thing, kiddo. But listen, I need to get in line. We can talk more on the airship.”
“Right,” Yang replied, heart sinking. What he gave her then couldn’t exactly be called a hug-- it was closer to a headlock, full of the warmth that he hadn’t spared for Blake-- and then he was darting off, duffel bag in hand. Yang frowned after him, watching him go as he joined the line and clapped another huntsman on the shoulder.
“What was that about?” Blake finally asked. This was what finally broke Yang’s reverie, and she turned back to her partner, guilty.
“I think Dad might be a little… jaded.”
“You don’t say,” Blake commented dryly. Yang laughed, the sound unexpected, but she was grateful that Blake had managed to pull it out of her. It cleared her head a little. “About what?”
“Well…” She paused, trying to figure out exactly how to put it into words that wouldn’t make Blake spiral into guilt. Blake tilted her head, which always looked so cute with her haircut that it almost distracted Yang from her thoughts. Almost. “I guess… Most of what he knows about you is what he found out after everything at Beacon… happened.” Were there any words on this subject that wouldn’t hurt her? She bit her lip, and forced herself to go on. It was better to be honest. “And… I was kinda… not doing so hot. Not just the arm, but when you…”
Her courage faltered, but Blake’s golden eyes widened. She didn’t have to finish.
“Oh,” Blake said, cheeks blooming with color at her past shame. She looked down.
“Hey.” Yang stepped closer to her, resting her metal fingers on Blake’s forearm. “We’re fine. We’re more than fine, okay?” She smiled at Blake, soft and encouraging and full of the love that was the undeniable current of their relationship. “Dad’ll come around. He’s not a bad guy. He’s just… maybe a little protective, I guess. But he’ll come around. Don’t waste your time worrying about him.”
“I don’t know,” Blake replied uncertainly, still looking off after Taiyang. “I never really imagined what it would be like to meet him, but this definitely isn’t what I would’ve expected.” Her ears flattened sadly as she went on. “Maybe I should have, though.”
“Don’t even think that,” Yang said firmly, dragging her fingers down to Blake’s wrist. She caught it, and held loosely. “What’s done is done. We got through it, and now things are even better than before. It’s okay.”
She saw Blake’s gulp before she nodded. For further reassurance, she pressed a light kiss against Blake’s mouth, The important things were clear between them. They didn’t need guilt sullying their path again. So Yang was heartened when Blake returned the kiss, slightly harder than Yang’s own.
Between them, things were still okay. That was all that mattered.
Not that it prevented awkwardness later on, however, when they ran into Taiyang again on the airship. At seeing Yang, his smile was bright. Blake, he outright ignored.
“Ruby brought me up to speed,” he told Yang warmly. “And I’m telling you the same thing I told her: you need to remember to think before you jump in and do whatever this new incarnation of Ozpin tells you to do. He--”
“I know,” Yang interrupted. “We’ve figured that out already.”
“You’ve always been smart girls,” he replied with a sigh. “I suppose you already know, too, that you need to be careful.”
“Well, we’re as careful as we’ve always been… which probably isn’t saying much.” Her grin was full of humor, but it seemed to be the wrong thing to say to Taiyang, who scowled.
“And that’s what I’m afraid of.”
It wasn’t like Yang didn’t try to bring Blake into the conversation, but each time, Taiyang would find a way to interrupt, or, at worst, not even respond when she did manage to slip a comment in. It frustrated Yang, and she could see Blake’s resolve begin to crumble before her eyes. This wouldn’t do, Yang thought. Something had to give.
“Dad,” she finally said, voice wearing thin. “Enough.”
“Huh?” He had settled onto the seat across from them, and Yang leaned forward, placing her elbows on her knees to look him straight-on. Even Blake looked startled; her ears pricked up at Yang’s tone.
“You’ve been ignoring Blake. For a while now.”
Taiyang blinked, caught off-guard. Maybe he hadn’t expected to be called out, or maybe his treatment of Blake had been completely unconscious. Now, though, his eyes darted back over to her.
“I haven’t been--” he began, his protest weak, but Yang cut him off. She had no time for that.
“Dad,” she said again. “I know things were… rough, after… after I came back to Patch.” She took a deep breath, steadying herself. It still hurt, to think about those long, lonely months. Things could have been so different, she knew, but what was done was done. As she’d told Blake, things were okay now. Things had been fixed, hearts had been repaired. “But… it wasn’t Blake’s fault. She had… some things of her own to deal with. And we went through hell to deal with them. Together.”
She felt light pressure on her knee. Yang didn’t need to look to know it was Blake’s hand, a calm touch that spurred her on.
“So if you’re, like… holding it over her head, or something… don’t. I told you before: we’ve figured this out.” Yang held her stare, gratified when he broke it first. She let the look soften. “Dad… I trust her. Can you trust me in this?”
His astonishment almost hurt. Yang was grateful for Blake’s firm hand. It held her steady in the wake of her father’s reaction, his wide eyes and the soundless opening and closing of his mouth. She tried to imagine it from his perspective; when she’d left Patch, she’d still been so emotionally fragile. Of course he would have trouble reconciling that version of her with the woman who sat in front of him today.
“Yang,” he finally said, sounding, for once, like the aging man he was. He opened his mouth, reconsidered, and grimaced. “I suppose… I haven’t been fair,” he conceded at last, turning back to Blake. He attempted a smile, which looked even worse than the grimace.
“You haven’t,” Yang replied, voice flat.
“Mr. Xiao Long?” Blake’s words were hesitant, as if uncertain he would actually listen to her this time. To Yang’s relief, he met her in the eye as she spoke. “When I… ran away. After Beacon. It was… a mistake. I thought I… I thought I was protecting her, by doing that. The man, the one that cut off her…” Even now, months after they’d sent Adam to his grave, Blake still struggled to say the words. “The man that cut off her arm. He promised to destroy everything I loved, and I knew he wouldn’t stop till he’d finished the job. So I left and thought it would be the end of it.”
Blake inhaled, the sound ragged. “I messed up,” she added, voice softer. “And I wish I could go back and change that. Neither of us deserved that, least of all Yang.”
“And now it’s done,” Yang finished, steel in her voice. She slid a hand onto the small of Blake’s back, registering the dampness of sweat against her palm. “We’ve paid our price, it’s over, and we’re good.”
Taiyang frowned. A change had come over his face while Blake spoke, and while Yang’s words alone hadn’t seemed to hit home, Blake’s had. His brows furrowed, concern crossing over his face.
“It’s done?” he repeated, looking from Blake to Yang. “What’s done?”
At this, Blake looked away.
“We killed him.” Yang wouldn’t run away from that statement. She could own it, and she knew Blake could, as well, though perhaps not to the complete stranger that was Taiyang. “Blake… was right. He followed us, and he would have killed her. He would have killed us.”
She felt Blake shift against her, moving slightly closer on the bench. Yang let her hand drift to her waist, not out of protection, but in solidarity.
“I appreciate the sentiment, Dad, but I don’t need it.” Yang forced a smile. “I’m not asking you to adopt her, or anything. But, at least… give her a chance? That’s literally all we’re asking.”
Taiyang leaned back, letting out a long breath of air. It was… a lot of information, dumped all at once, but he was sensible. If he had thought Yang was trusting blindly, of course he would have had something to say about it. But she wasn’t, so he wouldn’t. He nodded, the movement miniscule, but as his confidence grew, the nod became more decisive. He leaned forward.
“Thank you,” he told Blake quietly. “For telling me this.” He paused. “I’m… sorry for being rude.”
Blake’s ears sagged in relief. “It’s… okay, Mr. Xiao Long. I get it.”
Taiyang smiled weakly, his eyes crinkling with the effort. “Tai, please.”
They spoke for a little while longer, with Yang telling him about her visit to the Branwen tribe and filling in any gaps Ruby had left out. To her surprise, he only nodded when she spoke of Raven. He’d already heard.
“She visited me, y’know,” he told them, stretching out against the wall. “She had some pretty interesting things to say.”
“Really?” Yang’s eyes widened. Blake must have felt her twitch, for she ran a soothing hand up her back. “What’d she say?”
“What you told me, for one,” he replied, one eyebrow raised. “But the rest… I should probably tell you guys tonight, when we’re all together. Oz will want to hear it.”
Yang groaned. “Figures,” she muttered, and she heard the huff of Blake’s laughter.
“Speaking of, I’ve wanted to see how Oz looks these days,” Taiyang remarked, smiling slightly. He stood up and shrugged, rolling his shoulders. “But I’ll see you all in a little bit. It was wonderful to meet you, Blake.”
“You too,” Blake replied with a nod up at him.
“See you soon.” Yang nodded at her father as he strode away, maneuvering through the sweaty crowd of people on the airship. She sighed, and flopped her head onto Blake’s shoulder, hair slipping into her eyes. “Well, that was stressful.”
“Parents, right?” Blake asked, amused. She kissed the top of Yang’s head.
“Y’know, you… didn’t have to tell him all of that, if you didn’t want to,” Yang told her, lifting her head back up to meet Blake’s eyes. They stared levelly back at her, the gold looking only brighter in the dim glow of the airship.
“I’m not ashamed of what we had to do,” she replied quietly. She leaned her head in, forehead resting against Yang’s. “I’m only ashamed of what I’ve done. And I wanted him to know... that I still live with that. Every day, I still live with knowing that I’ve hurt you. I know there’s nothing we can do about it now… but I wish I hadn’t left you.” Her breath was heavy, choppy, and Yang could feel its edges on her face. “Out of everything I’ve ever done… that’s been my biggest regret.”
“Blake,” Yang murmured, closing the gap with her lips on Blake’s. They were still so smooth, even after living in the chill of Atlas for months. “We’ve all done things we regret. Dad probably knows that better than anyone. But we still keep going on. We’ve picked up what we can, and we’re okay.”
“You keep saying that,” Blake said, her laugh fragile, and Yang could hear her tears in the sound.
“Because it’s true.” Yang kissed her again, now feeling Blake’s tears on her cheeks. “I love you. So much.”
“I love you,” Blake replied, a ghost of a smile curling on her lips.
“See?” Yang said, pulling her in again. “As long as we’ve got that, we’ll be okay.”

Silence in Atlas 22/?
Once more, this is a dark take on Volume 7 from a Bumbleby standpoint. It has scenes of graphic violence. If there are any specific trigger warnings I will specify it.
HOW DID I FINISH THIS CHAPTER? I don’t know. Honestly I didn’t think I’d be able to write more this week but the gods of lesbianism and angst have given me sudden inspiration and I birthed this chapter. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE LOVE! Hope you like this one. It’s a long one :D
--------------
It was dark and she was on the ground. A familiar sense of panic started to drown her. She had been there before. Blake remembered that smell, that silence, the feeling of the cold hard floor against her cheek. She opened her eyes to find her own hands in front of her, shackled. She tried to stand up and found her body too weak to move, her ankles in chains. There were cardboard boxes around her, dismantled, wet and old. In front of her was a door. A metal door. Her breathing started accelerating and she could feel her heartbeat in her ears.
Footsteps.
They were slow and heavy and she had a hard time hearing them at first but then they started getting louder. Closer. Blake felt this had happened before. Many times. She tried to sit up and could barely bring herself to lean against the wall. There was a metal collar on her neck that made breathing uncomfortable. The steps stopped and she could recognize the sound of keys unlocking the door. As it cracked open a dim light made its way into the room.
“I told you didn’t I?” she heard the voice before she could make out the image of whoever was speaking. It seemed to come out of the walls themselves. “Wherever you go, I will always be there”. She remembered those words. The name came to her as soon as she saw his brown eyes staring down at her.
“Aleph” she tried to say but no sound left her mouth.
“Still trying to talk are we?” he snickered. Blake tried to stand up but her legs were useless.
“You really want to kill me right now don’t you, kitten?” Aleph said as he took out something from his pocket. “Look who we have here” he laughed. “Our friend the clicker. Aren’t you going to say hi? It’s been a while and you two were such good mates”
Click.
The world exploded in pain and she couldn’t scream. She felt her body breaking apart and then coming back together as the waves of pain receded. Aleph walked towards her and then kneeled down to look her in the eyes.
“I’ve missed you” he said as he raised a hand to Blake’s cheek. She flinched back. Aleph laughed and slapped her hard on the face. “Do you even remember your training?!” he shouted in her face. “I’ll make you remember then, kitten”.
Aleph stood up and grabbed her by the hair. She had no strength in her to resist. He pulled hard, making her fall on her face against the floor. Then she felt his weight on her back and a hand on the back of her head. This was also familiar. No. Not again. This couldn’t be happening to her again. Blake tried to move, she tried to do anything but her body would barely react. She heard how Aleph unbuckled himself. Please, no. No. No.
No.
Blake’s eyes shot open and a silent scream died in her lips. She couldn’t breathe. She felt like someone was trying to choke her. Her entire body was shaking and she started panicking more and more as she ran out of air. She looked at her side and remembered she was not alone. Using all the strength she had left she lifted a hand and placed it on Yang’s back hoping it would be enough to wake her up.
The first sound she registered when she woke up were Blake’s silent cries. She had come to recognize the subtle noises that her girlfriend could do. Yang turned around quickly and found the faunus’ in the middle of a panic attack unlike any other she had seen.
“Baby, I’m here” the blonde whispered as she held Blake close. “Nothing bad is going to happen”.
Blake could hear her, but it was like her voice was far away and it was drowning under Aleph’s voice.
“Wherever you go, I will always be there” he repeated again and again, his voice loud, getting deeper and deeper every time.
“Blake, look at me” Yang called as she looked her girlfriend in the eyes. It was clear something was very wrong. It was like her eyes couldn’t see what was in front of them. They were frozen in a look of absolute terror. “Baby, please, come back to me” she whispered. There had to be something she could do to help her. She looked so terrified, so in pain. There had to be something she could to calm her down.
“REN!” she shouted with all she had. “REN!”
If his semblance could mask emotions from the Grimm maybe they could help Blake calm down enough so she could get to her. She heard doors opening, people talking and then saw light under her bedroom door. She was glad Ruby made sure all the light switches in the house were silent. She didn’t need anything to make Blake’s panic attack get even worse. The door shot open and she could see every inhabitant of the house in the hallway. Ren entered the room.
“What is happening? Why did you…”
“Help her, please” Yang begged with tears on her eyes, holding a terrified Blake in her arms. Ren ran towards them and kneeled. He placed a hand on Blake’s arm and activated his semblance. The only sound in the entire house was the loud wheezing coming out of Blake’s mouth every time she tried to take a breath. Slowly but surely the shaking stopped. “Blake, it’s me. Come back” the blonde said. She looked straight into amber eyes and this time they looked back at her.
Aleph’s voice disappeared and she could finally see clearly. He heard hurt like hell and every breath felt like a fight. The first thing she recognized were Yang’s eyes, covered in tears and looking at her. She looked around and saw Ren holding her arm. Ruby and Weiss were in the room and the rest of the team looked inside from the hallway.
“Blake?” Yang called her and she could feel her soul finally coming back to her body. She turned around and hugged the blonde with all her strength. The nightmare had felt so real. She had feared for a second that it was and that getting rescued had been a dream but her girlfriend’s arms around her convinced her otherwise.
“I think you should take her to see the doctor” Maria said from the hallway. “It sounded like she was seriously choking”
“Yeah” Yang replied softly as she and Blake broke the hug. The faunus looked around and felt really bad for having caused such a scene. She brought a fist to her chest and rotated twice in a clockwise motion.
“You have nothing to be sorry about” Ruby said “It’s not something you can control”
“You understood her?” Yang asked her sister. The team leader smiled proudly.
“Weiss and I might have been learning a bit of sign language on the side”
“More like I’ve been learning and then teaching her but yes” the former heiress added. The faunus smiled, the panic attack officially behind her. How could she feel anything but safe with people that loved her so much? She took a deep breath. Things were fine. Nothing bad was going to happen.
“We should all go back to sleep now. Big day tomorrow, right?” Jaune proposed. Yang looked at her puzzled.
“Big day?”
“”So I guess the whole don’t tell Blake and Yang thing is pretty much out the window now, isn’t it?” Nora said looking at her friend with an exasperated look.
“I’m sorry” he replied.
“What is going on?” Yang asked, this time her tone a bit more severe.
“Ozpin told us where the relic is. We are going to try and get it before Salem gets here” Ruby revealed. Right, Yang thought, they were supposed to save the world. She had forgotten for a second.
“We know Blake isn’t ready to… She’s still healing”  Qrow said as he entered the room. “And we know you won’t leave her side”.
“I get it” the blonde replied. She cared more about Blake that she did for the rest of Remnant. Until she was completely healed she wasn’t going anywhere. Her friends understood and they seemed to respect it. “We’ll stay put but next time don’t hide it from us. We are still part of the team”
“I’m sorry, it was my idea” Weiss said, her eyes looking down at the floor. “I didn’t want to burden you with anything else”.
“It’s okay”
Silence.
“I’m going to bed and so should all of you” Maria yelped as she went back to her room. The sound of her door closing triggered everyone else to follow her steps. They said their goodnights and left. The last one through the door was Ren.
“Thank you” Yang told him and the boy smiled.
“Always” he said and then closed the door.
Once they were alone Blake got the scroll tablet out and started writing. Yang looked at the screen over her shoulder.
“You should go. I don’t want to keep you from the mission” the faunus wrote.
“Baby” Yang said as she gently pushed the scroll tablet down. She cupped Blake’s cheek with one of her hands and brought their faces very close. “You aren’t keeping me from anything. I want to be here with you. I’ll always choose you”. The blonde inched forwards to bring their lips together and the faunus felt tears running down her face.
“I love you” Blake mouthed between kisses even though she knew Yang couldn’t hear her. She needed to say it because it was real and it came out of every pore in her body. Loving Yang was the most real thing she had ever felt. She snuggled close to her girlfriend and tried to fall asleep. Her head still hurt and her breathing wasn’t really back to normal but the feeling of Yang’s warmth against her was all it took to forget how much the world sucked.
-------------------------
They went to the hospital the very next day. Yang tried to convince them to take off her cast but the doctors were adamant about leaving it on for a couple more days. Once she accepted her fate they went to see Doctor Yu. After a short physical examination he asked for some tests. Blake was nervous but Yang’s company made the situation bearable. Waiting for the results in the room outside Yu’s office seemed like an eternity. Yang couldn’t stop thinking about the million things that could be messing with Blake’s breathing.
“Ms. Belladonna?” a nurse called. “The doctor is ready to see you”. They both stood up and walked swiftly towards the office. Yang noticed the nurse looking at Blake with disapproval. Guess she was one of the rotten ones. She wanted to punch her but there were more important things to do than beating a racist.
“Sit down please” Yu said and both women obliged.
“So, what is it? Why is she having such a hard time breathing?” Yang asked as she pulled up a chair.
“It looks like Ms. Belladonna’s vocal cords are scarring and the excess tissue is causing several problems. That would explain the shortness of breath” the doctor said, looking at the test results. “We’ll have to perform surgery to remove the tissue before it causes any more problems”.
“Won’t that damage her vocal chords even more?” Yang asked, holding Blake’s hand tightly. “Won’t that make it harder to have corrective surgery later?”
“I’m afraid it will but we don’t have another option” the doctor explained. “If we don’t remove the tissue it will continue to scar until it makes it impossible for her to breathe”. Both young women looked at each other, knowing they had no other road to take. They didn’t need words or signs to understand what the other one was thinking. I’ll be there, Yang’s eyes said. I know, Blake’s replied.
The faunus turned to the doctor. She made a circle with her hand and then raised her index and middle finger.
“We’ll do it today then. Before it gets any worse. I’ll have them prepare a room for you two” Yu said as he started to make his way out of the room. “I’ll send a nurse once it’s ready”
“Make sure it’s not the one that called us in” the blonde requested, making sure her voice was loud enough for the woman outside to hear.

RWBY Volume 6 Episodes 12/13 “Seeing Red” and “Our Way” Micksterecaps: TWO RECAPS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!
Tumblr media
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO doggie, youse KNOW I can’t wait to talk about the finale, so you get not one but TWO recaps! Also doing the same thing with Gen:Lock as they released the first two eps of that on the same day-EITHER WAY LET’S GET TO DANCIN’!
THE EP STARTS OFF WITH-
Tumblr media
-the ARGUS MILITARY-watching their boss waste military hardware, while being away from their FREAKING STATIONS-where a threat the Colossus was MADE to fight is coming close to the city. ALL WHILE RUBY-
Tumblr media
-HANGS-in there? EH?! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEH?!
After a nice little cliff climb, Oscar informs the team that the shields go down EVERY time Cordo fires missiles, which is the time to STRIKE! Ruby while on board-DOES-point out the difficulty of it though.
Tumblr media
Ruby:-I’d have to be practically staring down the barrel of her canon.
FORESHADOWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!
Ruby than jumps onto their legitimately stolen airship, while Maria does what she does best-
Tumblr media
Maria: HEY CORDO-your mother wears NON-combat boots!
Tumblr media
Cordo: SHUT UP I HAVE ALL THE MISSILES!
SADLY-though-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-sheeeeeeeeeeee catches on.
*BANG*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*TING*
Tumblr media
*CLOSE*
Tumblr media
Cordo: SURELY you know Atlas perfected missile launcher door quick-closing technology!
Ruby: BITCH YOU GOT LUCKY AND YOU KNOW IT!
Tumblr media
Cordo: FUCK YOU I HAVE A LIGHTNING CANON!
Tumblr media
OOH-and she WINGS them even, DAMN that’s gotta smart!
Tumblr media
OOH-spoke too soon, Maria got the worst of it! MAN-that’s gotta sting.
Tumblr media
Looks like its up to farmboy to SAVE THE DA-
Tumblr media
*CRASH*
...EH-he’s a 14 year old farmboy, did the best he could with no fly knowledge or help (WINK).
Tumblr media
See that? A NICE clean crash, Launchpad McQuack would be proud!
Ruby realizing how fucked things are, decides to pull a make or break move-RIGHT BEFORE-this scene-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Qrow: Ruby, stop!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ruby: I need you, to trust me.
And he then lets go of her hand. Its a small yet powerful scene, and I really loved it, just wanted to point that out.
Tumblr media
Ruby then makes a passionate speech to Cordo about how they only stole from her because she gave them no choice, especially since their supposed to be on the same side, and hopes she listens to reason.
Tumblr media
Cordo: Hm....
Tumblr media
Cordo:...NAH-I’ll just kill you.
Tumblr media
CAROLINE CORDOVIN FOLKS-the defi-NITION of excessive force!
But does THAT scare Rubelubes?!
Tumblr media
FUCK NO-she dashes herself RIGHT in there! SEE-foreshadowing!
Tumblr media
She sees the target-
Tumblr media
-LINES up the shot-
Tumblr media
-while Cordo reevaluates recent life choices-
Tumblr media
-gives herself a nice SNIPER breath-
Tumblr media
-SHOOTS THAT FUCKER-and with-in a SECOND-
Tumblr media
-PETALS HERSELF AWAY! Ace huntress right here! ALL right before-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-THAT FUCKER GETS CRYSTALIZED-good on you Ruby!
Tumblr media
OOH-still got that aftershock crackle though! Thankfully Weiss uses her reverse gravity glyphs to slow her down ‘cause she’s a GOOD girlfriend, either figuratively OR literally(Bumblebee is canon fo sho, but STILL not sure on Iceflower, BUT still hopeful).
Qrow then catches her, and Ruby smugly replies with-
Tumblr media
Ruby: ...toldja.
Oh Ruby, you SASS!
End the scene with a bit of Maria sass-
Tumblr media
Maria: OH-don’t tell me I MISSED it!
AND CUT TO OUR FAVORITE NEW POWER COUPLE!
7:25
Tumblr media
BEHOLD the holding of the hands, FEEL the gay energy it creates, while pissing off Blake’s creepy predatory ex, who was probably a creepy senior like Daniel Tosh when they started dating and needs to die(WINK).
Blake then says she and Yang are gonna KICK HIS ASS, because she made a promise to stick with the people she cares about-PROMPTING ADAM-to say this-
Tumblr media
Adam: Y’know, she made a promise to me once, that she’d always be at MY side. HA-and look how well she’s kept it.
Your ex likes girls dude, GET OVER IT!
Either way it prompts Yang to say THIS badassery:
Tumblr media
Yang: Did she make that promise to you? Or to the person you were PRETENDING to be?
Fuck yes. Either way, time for talk is over-ITS ACTION SCENE TIME-
Tumblr media
-OOH-start out with a splitscreen, NICE!
Tumblr media
Blake and Yang keep hitting him from both sides-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-and uses her shot-gauntlets to get distance, as a STRATEGIST does!
Tumblr media
Blake goes in on the offensive, but ADAM ATTACKS-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-HER SHADOW-because he keeps forgetting how her semblance works like the dirty bitch he is!
Tumblr media
Blake somersaults over him-
Tumblr media
-KICKS-him back in the best pic I could get, because it happens in like a MICROSECOND-
Tumblr media
-to a Yang Xiao Long that’s RARING to go with her shaunt-gauntlets-
Tumblr media
-AND YANG KNOCKS HIM BACK...trust me, she did, this fight has a LOT of quick action and getting the pics I want is a nightmare.
The battle is INTENSE y’all, either way Blake gets ENOUGH distance-
Tumblr media
-to get her partially broken gunsword back-
Tumblr media
-tttttttttttthrows it over to fuckface magee-
Tumblr media
-OOH-but he blocks it, no goal for you Blake-BUT-
Tumblr media
-YANG GETS CONTROL OF THE BLADE-they may just make this count-
Tumblr media
-she flings her over withe classic “infinitely stretchy band of stretchiness” to INITIATE-
Tumblr media
-BATTLE CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH-but WAIT-
Tumblr media
-OOH-knock back on both sides-
Tumblr media
-Adam lands on his feet while Blake-
Tumblr media
-OOH-she got crackle folks, we’re nearing the endgame (copyright Marvel studios...nah just kidding, RWBY’s a DC property). It ALSO almost knocks her off the cliff-
Tumblr media
...I feel there’s a joke about a cat poster I can make here, but I’m not sure if right now is the right time to say it.
Yang is of course READY to save her-
Tumblr media
-WHILE giving Adam an obvious deathglare for obvious reasons(MURDER HIM).
SADLY though Adam uses his greatest power of all-
Tumblr media
Adam: MOMENT of truth Yang, do you think your faster than you were at Beacon?
Tumblr media
*GASP*
Tumblr media
EMOTIONAL manipulation( MURDER HIM, MURDER HIM). ALSO-sorry for the arrows, they wouldn’t go away and I couldn’t edit them out without ruining the gravitas of the shot.
Then a punch, A KICK, Yang’s on the ropes, will her aura hold out? CAN BLAKE HANG ON?!
Tumblr media
OOH-apparently she can! MAN-the endurance these young women had, she lost a forcefield and now she’s climbing a MOUNTAIN, made of STEEL that one!
Adam than acts like the most OBVIOUS psycho-ex ever-
Tumblr media
Adam: What does she even SEE in you?!
Yang: A person who doesn’t let their psychological baggage be an excuse to be an abuser!
Blake: Someone in my own age group who isn’t a creep who peaked his senior year of High school!
Adam: YOU SHUT UP I’M A PERFECT SUNFLOWER!
Adam then uses MOONSLASH on Yang but if you don’t know our girl-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yang: Gotcha.
-you’d know it’d be NOT very effective y’all-SUPER SAYAIN YANG ACTIVATE!
Tumblr media
FUCK YEAH-punch him OUT!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-AND HE GOT THE CRCKLE Y’ALL-its aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallmost over!
Tumblr media
OOH-but so does Yang, BUT she’s got his sword so ADVANTAGE Bumbleby!
EITHER WAY-everyone’s running on fumes, its SUDDEN DEATH SMASH TIME Y’ALL!
And dear lord...its amazing-
Tumblr media
-Yang THROWS that shit off a cliff-
Tumblr media
-Adam goes after it-
Tumblr media
Blake: SHURIYUKEN!
Yang: Wait I saw you climb UP the mountain, how’d you get back there-
Blake: WHATEVER-let’s kill this guy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She sees the broken sword at her feet-
Tumblr media
-she grabs ONE half-
Tumblr media
-Yang graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabs the other-
Tumblr media
Yang: RAH!
Tumblr media
Blake: EYAH!
Tumblr media
YANG/BLAKE USED DOUBLE STRIKE-
Tumblr media
Adam:...oh-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*SPLASH*
-and its SUPER effective-CRITICAL HIT! RPG BUZZWORDS! AND THEN BUMBLEBY-
Tumblr media
-gives themselves a tender cry scene while both promise to be there for each other. DAMN that was a fight scene, emotion, action, DEATH, I love this show!
Blake: *SNIFF* I just really really-REALLY-hope he stays dead!
Yang: Don’t worry, he can’t get maiden powers so he’s gone for good.
Blake: I love you babe.
Yang: I love you to.
A THEN CUT TO-
Tumblr media
-CORDO-dealing with the consequences of her actions in MORE ways than one!
Tumblr media
Nubuck: HEY UH M’AM-
Tumblr media
-Godzillallegory is on the horizon-
Tumblr media
- and it brought a BUNCH of friends, we could REALLY use the giant Collossus mech made SPECIFICALLY for fighting giant Grimm!
Tumblr media
Cordo:...I am SO fired.
AND THAT’S ep 12, SEE YOU...in 2 SECONDS for the next Micksterecap as this is a DOUBLE feature!
The FINALE starts off WITH-
Tumblr media
-with a VERY nice airship! Look at that woodwork, now THAT is craftsmanship! The ship opens TO REVEAL-
Tumblr media
-NEO-and her SNAZZY new look! Look at that jacket, just FULL of snazz! SPEAKING OF SNAZZYNESS-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-HOT DAMN-I never thought wearing a cape the wrong way could look GOOD but Cinder proved me wrong! After the minor fashion show-ITS SHIP SHIFTING TIME!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cinder:(DAMN I am im-PRESSED by this, SO glad we’re friends now!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get it Neo, your semblance is OP, QUIT SHOWIN’ OFF!
Tumblr media
Either way, our girls are looking fly as hell and are READY to fight Team FWBYQOMJNR....NEXT volume. Yeah, turns out it was one of THOSE build-ups where its for next season. I know, I’m pissed of too.
But enough about that-A CUT TO-
Tumblr media
GOJIRA-slowly making his way to Tokyo bay to REEK ATOMIC TERROR!
This is the time when one could REALLY use a giant robot with a laser canon-
Tumblr media
-if not for the fact that a senile old racist wasted it on minor offenders like a crazy person.
After the team realizes that they had a SLIGHT hand in ruining Argus’ defenses against a kaiju level threat, they decide to FLY OFF! Right before CORDOVIN-
Tumblr media
“This is YOUR fault, your fault....
Tumblr media
....your...fault”.
-ADMITS her own guilt in this to herself! Didn’t expect character development from her, NOW all she has to do is apologize to Blake for casual racism and it’ll be AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL good!
MEANWHILE-on the ship-
Tumblr media
-Blake apologizes for her psycho Ex stalking them, ALL while only her, Yang, Nora and Maria(off panel) are sitting down. YOU ARE IN A PLANE-I do not believe that they are hogging all the seats!
Despite the obvious chaos, Maria basically suggests this-
Tumblr media
Maria: Okay...what if we just BAIL?!
Everyone:...
Maria:...YEAH I know, gotta be superheroes and what-not, I just REALLY want Cordo to die.
They then all decide to get up close and personal with the thing, Ren and Jaune plan to do their combo move a.k.a. the ONLY semblance Jaune will boost this season-BUT THEN-the monster resurfaces!
Tumblr media
*RESIN COATED GLOVE AGAINST A BASS GUITAR!*
Look it up bitches. Its ALSO at this point that Mrs.Terra Cotta-Arc-
Tumblr media
-regrets recent life choices that inadvertently lead to her brother in-law and his entourage to destroying Argus’s last defense...also what’s up with that girl in the background? The one with the diamond logo and the bare mid-riff? She a superhero or something? If so...GET TO WORK-there’s a monster to fight!
Tumblr media
AW-she’s there for her family and...I’m sorry I just can’t get over that background character’s design, I mean LOOK AT HER-does she have ANY hips to speak of?! I know its just a background character, but STILL bad design.
BUT LUCKILY FOR ARGUS-
Tumblr media
-THE SHIELDS GO UP-which I’m sure won’t be damaged at all!
Tumblr media
SEE-look at that, COMPLETELY impenetrable!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BAM-even blocks the beast’s elemental attack, NOTHING can break this shie-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*BOOM*
...w...WAIT A MINUTE-the SHIELDS are impenetrable but the pylons MANAGING the shields AREN’T?! That is...a HUGE design flaw, DAMMIT CORDOVIN, this is what you get for spending your defense budget on your Gundam hobby!
This is when everybody just wants to get the HELL out of there but Ruby calls it in-
Tumblr media
Ruby: EVERYBODY-me and my scrappy team of rogues is gonna take on that beast, we JUST need you to back us up!
Nubuck: UH-no thank you, we’re nameless soldiers in a fantasy story, WE KNOW what happens to us in this situation!
Either way Ruby is ready to use her magical laser eyes to slow down the beast, by her OWN dang self!
Tumblr media
Ruby: Fine, we’ll do it alone if we have to.
Tumblr media
Ruby: Let me repeat, I-A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL-am going to fight a monster ALL by myself...with NO military support...alone.
Look at Cordo, see the GUILT emanating from her!
Either way the plan is set-SUPER TEAMWORK COMBO-
Tumblr media
-EMOTION MASK TIMES TWO! Seriously, the ONLY semblance he enhances this season.
Tumblr media
They then fly undetected through the chaos while ONE plane gets hit! Exactly ONE...no lie, maybe this army isn’t as bad as I thought if only one plane got knocked down so far.
Tumblr media
After just NARROWLY avoiding the blast-
Tumblr media
-the beast takes out the SECOND barrier due to the worst design flaw in the world-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-DESTROYING THE TOP TO EXACTLY ONE BUILDING! DAMN-lucky Argus, this is a generally destruction free monster attack!
Tumblr media
OOOH-but also RIGHT at the moment Ren and Jaune get crackle, CLOAKS DOWN PEOPLE-cloak is DOWN!
But have no fear-OUR LEADER HAS A PLAN!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Weiss:...giant bee?
Ruby: GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIANT BEE!
Yang: You rang?
Blake: Oh YOU!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nora and Yang give cover fire while Blake just...stands there, because her weapon broke. Hey, sometimes your ex smashes your gun-sword in half, it happens.
Tumblr media
SEE BLAKE-you just upgraded yourself to Weiss...holder, way to seize the initiative and HOLD THAT WEISS!
Tumblr media
Ruby: I know this is stressful but riding a giant bee is still FREAKING AWESOME!
Nora: I CALL NEXT!
Yang: Aw man, I wanted to fly next.
Qrow: QUIT YAMMERING AND KEEP SHOOTING!
Tumblr media
Rubalubes than squares up with the great beast and then-
Tumblr media
-STARTS A CLIP SHOW TO PSYCHE HER POWERS UP! She ALSO-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-throws that PESKY earpiece RIGHT into the ocean...because turning it OFF is impossible apparently(freakin’ Atlas tech, TOO many design flaws). Either way-CLIP SHOW TIME!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What NICE memories, nothing that would trigger feelings of doubt which would mess with her hea-
Tumblr media
SHIT-memories of the dead almost girlfriend-SHIFT FOCUS!
Tumblr media
YES-memories of the vomit boy-FOCUS ON THAT!
Tumblr media
Nooooooooooooooooooo-
Tumblr media
-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Tumblr media
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
Tumblr media
Focus focus focus FOCUS!
Tumblr media
NOT ON THAT!
Tumblr media
NOR THAT!
Tumblr media
Stay calm, STAY calm-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-AND she’s boned.
Tumblr media
Ruby: DAMMIT silver eyes, WORK WHEN I WANT YOU TO WORK!
The beast is in her sights, her powers aren’t working, only ONE thing that can save her now!
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Reasons I ship Bumblebee/Bumbleby
(Re uploading due to some issues sorry for bugging people.) Please keep in mind that these are my reasons and yes while a lot of them might not make the greatest of sense some might not even appeal to you. A few of these I did get from watching a video or reading a topic but a lot of this I try to explain in the best way I can. Enjoy and if you have any you’d like me to throw in for a future topic please don’t hesitate to ask or message or whatever you want. I ask for no hate please if you disagree that’s fine not everyone has to agree with me but please don’t hate or attack because you don’t ship them. —————- Now before I begin this let me go ahead and explain to you that this will be a long journal. This may or may not take some hits from or towards other ships and I may rant and kinda drift off for a moment but let me do my best. It will start off with an analysis of each character and how compatible they are among the other reasons why they should be together. First things first we are going to look at the lyrics of some of the songs. Ones that stand point out Blake and Yang in a sense and while yes this doesn’t really prove much to the ship being canon but it already points out a few significant points to the characters as a whole. I will not take the Bmblb song into consideration because it was denied to be a song towards that ship. Whether it’s denial to stop fanbases from fighting or genuinely true is for us fans to consider but I will not add it in here as a bit of proof on my end. Red like roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest White is cold and always yearning, burdened by a royal test Black the beast descends from shadows Yellow beauty burns gold While this is the lyrics to Red Like Roses Part 1 it actually goes into a bit of detail of each character with only just a few words. Of course we’ll be focusing on the third and fourth verse. Black the beast descends from shadows and Yellow beauty burns gold. Thus giving away Blake and Yang. Now we all know who Blake and Yang are suppose to represent within the fairy tail world. Blake is meant to be belle from beauty and the beast while Yang is meant to be goldilocks not a great connection I know but when you dive further into the story itself you see there is far more to Yang then simply beauty just as there is far more to Blake then dark and mysterious though it suits them both just as well. There is also a song on the v1 volume known as Wings. Which if listened to could be directed to Yang talking to Blake. However this is just for speculation it isn’t confirmed either but if you listen to some of the lyrics here it kinda makes you think. However I am more or less taking this bit here from a youtuber known as RarityDash. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHLCU9a0KKI (Go to 2:53 if you want to hear his side or listen to the whole video.) A lot of these will come from other people’s perspectives too so keep in mind I will try my best to give credit where credit is due. ———————————— Now with this introduction lets get to know each character personality wise. Looking up Yang’s information on her personality this is what we get, Note it will not be the full personality because it dives into v3 and I’m trying to focus on what we know around v1-v2. And yes I know a moment from v5 is kind of in here but it might help along when I forget. Yang’s voice actor, Barbara Dunkelman, has said that when Yang’s character was described to her, she was described as “the kind of person who would teach someone how to swim by pushing them in the water”. This speaks volumes about how Yang approaches most things in life. She is very straightforward and confident. Yang is also described as being a cheerful, energetic and bright young lady. She is arguably the most flippant, carefree and adventurous member of her team, frequently making sarcastic comments and jokes even in the heat of battle and often taking combat and hostile situations lightly. Yang is very sociable and extroverted, even in unfamiliar situations. Blake considers Yang the personification of the word “strength”. However, Yang’s “brawler” fighting style is evocative of her personality. Her anger, one of her main assets in battle, can lead her to act predictably. —- As it states Yang is more or less a down to earth confident young woman with a cheerful attitude and a straight forward sense of direction. She is also a huge extrovert but like many she has her faults. One of which is her anger that as stated can lead her to act predictably. It causes her to run head on in the face of danger not thinking before acting which we’ve all seen where that leads. But I’ll get more into that later, For now lets focus on our next character. Blake Belladonna. —- Blake is described as being “mellow” by her voice actress, Arryn Zech. She displays a cool, reserved, and serious personality most of the time but does not lack a humorous side usually in the form of dry wit and sarcasm. Blake is a righteous person, respecting other people’s lives regardless of whether they are Faunus. She strongly despises those who judge and discriminate based on racial prejudice. Blake is outspoken, going so far as to indirectly insult the Schnee Dust Company in front of its heiress and defend Faunus of any kind. Blake is shown to be an introvert. Though she reads books to distance herself from the discussion at hand, as the series continues, she is shown to be more facetious and friendly. Blake appears most conversant when discussing the history and plight of her people. As a Faunus, Blake has faced discrimination in the past and wears a bow when around humans in order to be treated for her character and not her species. However, despite having no hate for Humans, she has seen how the real world works and wonders how she can undo so many years of hate and pain. —- As this personality information states Blake is more or less closed off and always hidden. She prefers to keep to herself and likes to keep her past in the past. Because of all the years of pain she’s had to go through both by human and faunus Blake has major trust issues, even with other faunus (Like Velvet or others) Blake comes off as kind of a well as the post says an introvert, Blake has no desire to make friends or get close to anyone she just wants to become stronger and find a better way to figure out her life all while running from her past. She prefers to be by herself and in this is where things start to get a little interesting to me. —- V-1 & V-2 analysts: Blake and Yang’s introduction to one another and their development through v1 and v2. Now to get off upon Blake and Yang’s very first meeting is more or less. Stiff I guess would be the best way to put it. The one character that actually brings the two together is Yang’s younger sister (half sister) Ruby. Wanting to encourage her sister to make more friends Yang tries to converse with Blake as she reads. Yang tries very hard multiple times to get Blake to open up and make conversation, going out of her way to compliment everything about her but it is ultimately shot down just as many times as she tries. After growing frustrated she proceeds to tell Ruby that she’s a lost cause. This is within the first episode of all of them meeting keep in mind these episodes we’re insanely shorten the beginning of it’s run time. Now lets go to the first initiation, where the teammates are meant to find their partners on their own being sent off into the woods one by one and the first person they make contact with is the first person they’re destined to be with for the next four years. We see Yang looking for anyone but is intending to try to find her sister Ruby but instead finds a few rather agitated Ursa who waste little to no time starting a fight with our lovely blonde heroine. Upon fighting the ursa the first one is taken out with little to no problem up until it cuts her hair which Yang ends up going on a rampage and destroying it within seconds. Taking out the second was easy an she was pumped to take out the third only for Blake to come out of nowhere and take it out for her. Yang implies she could have taken him and honestly I think Blake knew that. So here’s where my curiosity gets the better of me lets skip back just a little. Now skip back a little a few seconds back into the video and before Yang finds the ursa you see something shift past the screen. That something if paused at the right time is more or less identified as Blake. Now here’s something that interested me, Yang openly admitted that Blake was a lost cause the very night before, Blake showed little to no interest in talking to Yang and going out of her way to ignore her kind actions as best as she possibly could. Yet Blake is following Yang willingly stalking her until the perfect moment. Blake could have very well picked anyone else but she chose to be Yang’s partner. She witness Yang take on an ursa by herself, witness her anger get the better of her and that alone should have been a red flag to find someone else but she chose to stay and chose to reveal herself to Yang. Chose to be her partner, right off the bat something is off here. Blake was made out to be an introvert who wants as little human interaction as possible or at least as little interaction with people as possible. She didn’t come to beacon to make friends we find that out later on so why choose the second most friendly and outgoing person in the bunch. One who is the complete opposite of her in almost every way where Blake prefers the dark, Yang shines in the light and where Blake prefers to be alone, Yang prefers to be in the crowd. These two are more opposite then you can get and yet somehow they make it work, Blake even smiles a few times at Yang’s rather dorky yet sometimes slightly oblivious behavior. So my question for this is what made her pick Yang over anyone else. She could have chose Weiss, the two would have avoided each other barely became friends or chose Ruby someone who of course wants to be friends but is too shy to really be open and talk about anything other then books which probably would have settled better with Blake. (NOTE: This is more from an idea on how I think Blake’s perspective would be before Team RWBY was even assigned) However she chose someone who actually wants to get to know her and here’s where my reasoning comes into play. ————– Blake was always someone who was judged simply on her looks never one to be approached with a kind nature and her somewhat stiff persona often led others away then towards. Yang however was more then willing to outright introduce herself knowing nothing about Blake but never stopped to try to make her feel like she could be comfortable if that makes sense. Also if we take into account the first thing Yang compliments is Blake’s bow the one thing Blake uses to hide her secret that she feels would change how the people acted around her, as we find out a little later on Blake wants people to like her for who she is not for what she is. Yang right off the bat accepts every part of Blake without even knowing anything about her. Yang while wanting to know about Blake never pushed her into giving away more then she was comfortable with. While Yang is a boisterous character with a somewhat childish personality at times she genuinely shows a great amount of care and respect for the people she meets something Blake probably didn’t come into contact with often. In her eyes out of the choices she had Yang was probably the best choice by far. ————– Now lets go to episode 15 of Volume 1: After a fight with Weiss over a group known as the White Fang, a group of faunus who thrive to make the world better for the faunus but have turned rather dark over the years. Blake accidentally lets it slip that she was not only a member but is also in fact a faunus upon discovering this she wastes no time in leaving for fearing they would not accept her. During their search for Blake, Yang is kinda well not harsh but firm on Weiss for not being more concerned about their teammate. Ruby wanting to know Blake’s side of things while Weiss is quick to judge Yang’s only concern is for Blake’s safety, they’ hear her side of the story when they found her and when they knew she was safe. That was Yang’s first and only concern for the time being was for Blake’s safety. She not only goes out of her way to worry for her saftey but is more inclined to hear her side of the story before jumping to any harsh conclusions like Weiss did, meanwhile Ruby is honestly just trying to be the neutral party wanting to avoid as much conflict between her friends as possible. Eventually she does grow frustrated with Weiss asking if she even cares if they find Blake putting Yang in a more frustrated state of mind but does put that behind her for the sake of Blake being safely found. In Volume 2 episode 1 Blake is staring at her notebook while looking a bit out of it which causes Yang’s once again kind nature to shine on through and ask if Blake’s alright. Again something I’ve noticed with Yang is she tries not to force the situation when Blake doesn’t want to talk but instead of pushing the issue she goes straight to trying to cheer her up. Making her smile and laugh quite a bit in this episode more near the end though I’ll admit it was mostly just a food fight scene so it’s kinda hard to really look into this episode in any other way but comedic. Anyway in the next episode Blake is once again troubled and when she opens up to her friends on what she wants to do. Yang is one of the first to agree stating in a rather odd tone that she says and I quote.“Yes, I love it when you’re feisty.” and Blake even kinda gives a small smile to it enjoying the fact that Yang loves that she’s passionate about something that means so much to her and is enthusiastically wanting to help fight along side her. The tone alone in how Yang says that line however kinda leads you thinking and wondering what Yang really meant and for me it was more of a curiosity as to how often is Blake feisty around Yang that she has to point out how much she loves it. Anyway lets keep going. In volume 2, chapter 4 Blake shows a lot of concern for Yang while she’s fighting against the paladin. Now here’s something that has been also pointed out by RarityDash. Blake was aware of Yang’s semblance, she has seen it in action during the initiation yet still shows a great deal of concern towards Yang when she’s hit. She’s been with Yang long enough to know how her semblance works yet calls out for her like this is the first time she’s seen it. Now comes to the more obvious scenes people have grown to love and that is Chapter 6 of Volume 2, When Blake goes into an all out funk trying to figure out the White Fang’s plans, barely eating, barely sleeping and not stopping to just relax and have fun not only does it worry Ruby but it also worries Yang. While Yang doesn’t show it she makes it clear that whether Blake wants to or not she does intend for Blake to be at the dance one way or another. After a rather amusing way of distracting Blake to follow Yang, she takes her off somewhere alone so they can talk in private. Instead of Yang giving her a hard time or forcing her to relax she opens up to Blake, she bares the pain of losing her mother both her real and her step mom as well as her abandonment issues too. Sharing a part of her that one can only assume she never really shared with Ruby. Her being too young to know any better and Yang being too ashamed of her own mistake at the fact that she had put her and her sister’s life in danger just to get answers. She had opened up a deep wound for herself on how her mother abandoned her for reasons she hadn’t ever got a chance to figure out. She explains to Blake that her selfishness to finding answers should have gotten her and her sister killed, More or less telling Blake that she’s afraid if Blake continues to go down this road it could very well lead her to her death. Blake is-or at least tries to be understand but also gently pushes Yang’s bode aside claiming that she isn’t a child and that show knows better which eventually does anger Yang and in this flares up her semblance. Something else I took notice too that when it comes to Blake, Yang can turn it on and off at any given moment. She expresses a great deal of concern walking up to Blake looking angry before hugging her and telling her that she doesn’t want her to stop she just wants he to slow down for her and for the people she cares about. Her plan was to put her trust out to Blake and hope Blake would trust her judgement enough to give herself a break if only for a night so she could relax and enjoy herself. Yang believed Blake trusted her that much and was willing to give that trust back ten fold just so she’d rest going out of her way to share something that deeply troubled her in hopes Blake would let it go at least for a night. That right there should speak in volumes on how much Yang cares for Blake. Not to mention the scene that happens after their open conversation but this is a scene that really set it for the fans was Yang actually temps Blake by telling her if she shows up, she’ll even save her a dance before winking at her and then walking away. She says and I quote.“And if you feel like coming out tomorrow, I’ll save you a dance.” This scene alone told me Yang was flirting and inviting Blake to join her for a night of fun and no I don’t mean the dirty kind but pretty much asking her to dance with her just came off as a bit more flirty then it should have. This scene didn’t even need to be added but RT threw it in anyway. If there was nothing there or no hopes of anything being there why throw in Yang teasing Blake this way. The talk sure but the flirting was just something they didn’t need to add if they didn’t intend for us to think something like this. Now Blake does go to the dance with Sun but makes it clear her first dance was spoken for which I found odd. Yang said she’d save Blake a dance, never insinuated that he first dance had to be with Yang yet she went out of her way to dance with Yang first and for the rest of the night while Blake’s having fun. Yang just watches, she doesn’t join in, doesn’t dance with anyone else she just kinda watches Blake from a distance. Even when dancing with Sun Blake looks in Yang’s direction if only for a few brief moments before continuing to dance. Now lets go to episode 9 of volume 2. During the teams first mission. Profess-..Doctor Oobleck goes out of his way to ask why Weiss, Blake and Yang want to be huntresses which they give but while their motives are clear they start to slowly question why they’re here, why they really chose it and what their real reasons really we’re. The three do talk it over each expressing their own insecurities on what they’ll do with their career. After hearing Weiss get down from her choices Yang doesn’t fall too far behind, however this kinda changes once Blake admits that she doesn’t know how she’s going to help her people. Yang’s attitude changes right off the bat as she tries to comfort Blake telling her that she’ll figure it out and she’s never one to back down from a challenge. In the second part of this episode (Episode 10 volume 2) Blake is still showing a lot of uncertainty on how she’s going to fix her problems. Claiming all she knows how to do is run which again Yang goes out of her way to make it clear she’ll figure it out. ———————- Now we’re onto v3 and v4 During the fight with Mercury while everyone is clapping Blake is actually the only one out of the team to stand up and clap for Yang (Again this is another part I got from RariDash, a lot will be used from other youtubers and topic post makers but I will be doing my best to add my own into it as well. After the fight with Mercury however and Yang is sentence on lock down Weiss and Ruby show no hesitation in believing Yang when she says Mercury attacked her first even if they din’t see it happen that way. However Blake is hesitate and that alone greatly worries Yang, she fears she is losing Blake’s trust and that hurts her more then anything else, she breaks down into tears almost begging for Blake to believe her. When Blake explains why. claiming “I had someone very dear to me change, It wasn’t in an instant. It was gradual, little choices that began to pile up.He told me not to worry, at first they we’re accidents, then it was self defense. Before long even I began to think he was right. This is all just very familiar..” she finds it hard to believe Yang she goes into detail that she her previous quote on quote partner (Romantic partner at that) had changed so quickly and part of her was afraid to give Yang that trust back in fear she was becoming like Adam. The fact that Blake compares the two of them says a lot on how she felt for Adam says even more about how she could possibly feel for Yang. The fact that Ruby and Weiss saw Yang attack Mercury but we’re still willing to believe her over what they actually saw barely gets any real reaction from Yang because all she wants is Blake’s trust in her. She wants Blake to believe her and the way she says Blake’s name just kinda breaks your heart it doesn’t sound like a friend hurt you no it sounds like someone who is very close broke your heart in a matter of seconds. This alone, the way Yang acts and the pleading in her voice makes Blake second guess herself, telling yang and I quote and is willing to believe Yang even after momentarily witnessing it for herself she is willing to put past what she saw and put her trust in Yang even if she has a slight bit of doubt she is willing to put that aside for the sake of Yang. After explaining her situation Blake then counters with.”But you’re not him, and you’ve never done anything like this before. So I want to trust you. I will trust you but first I need you to look me in the eyes and tell me he attacked you, I need you to promise me you regret having to do what you did.” After Yang confirms that Mercury attacked her first Blake just simply closes her eyes smiles a little and says.”Okay.” She is willing to put her own trust on the line simply because Yang told her so. The fact that she was willing to believe so much after being hurt by someone like Adam again it speaks in volumes on how much trust and care she has for Yang. When the battle for beacon finally does start Blake’s very first action is to call Yang and make sure she’s safe they both continuously make sure the other is okay. Her first concern is Yang and Yang’s first concern is Blake, something I found odd was that she didn’t dial Yang’s number on her scroll she just flipped it open and Yang popped up which brings to question does she have Yang on speed dial lmao sorry sorry anyway back to the topic at hand another scene that comes into play is something that always bugged me and made me wonder why. Upon Blake and Weiss splitting up, Yang doesn’t question where her sister is, her first and only concern is where Blake is. She puts her sister’s safety on Weiss who is very much tired and goes off to find Blake on her own. The fact no one has any idea where Ruby is doesn’t even get to Yang as she dashes off to find Blake. Now here’s something that got to me. Upon Blake and Adam’s fight once Blake is pinned down Adam makes to point out these exact words.“I will make it my mission to destroy everything you love.”  Literally no sooner does he say that does Yang come into view calling out for Blake. Upon seeing Blake’s reaction Adam continues with “Starting with her.” Which given v5’s sudden reveal it is possible that Blake is confirmed to be bi to some extent. Or at least curious. He actually stabs Blake in the gut just to get a reaction out of Yang and the reaction that Yang has when seeing Blake hurt is one that is both terrifying and heart breaking. She screams at Adam to get away from Blake before launching herself straight at him, eyes red filling with tears, hair ablaze and Blake is left witnessing in horror as Yang is easily cut through. Her arm is sliced like fucking butter I kid you not he makes it look too easy and Yang passes out from her aura being completely drained from her as well as probably from the pain in her arm (Or lack there of.) sorry. Adam goes to finish Yang off and despite Blake’s injury she puts herself in front of Yang to try and save her. Now here’s something people have been pointing out. Blake actually managed to make her semblance stronger due to needing to protect Yang. Meaning she not only made a duplicate of herself but quite possibly of Yang as well so she could get away with her. The fact Blake is able to get away holding Yang as well as dealing with her own injury again should speak in volumes. Then we have that heart breaking scene of Blake clutching Yang’s hand saying nothing but sorry over and over again while Yang lays unconscious. Now during V4 a lot of people complained about this but this volume was literally a recovery volume. For people to get over everything that happened at Beacon and to heal from their injuries both mental and otherwise. The ones who had to heal the most we’re Yang and Blake. Blake left in fear Adam would hurt or kill Yang so she went to the one place she assumes Adam wouldn’t think to look back home while Yang has to once again suffer through the fact she was abandoned by the people she trusted most. First she loses her mother, then she loses Summer, then her father goes into his own bout of depression leaving Yang to raise Ruby alone for a little while. Qrow constantly leaves on missions leaving Yang alone with her thoughts. As V5 explained Yang had no one she had to deal with this loneliness by herself. Also while this might not be something really big we can cling too if you to the episode with Yang watching TV she’ll stop and just glance over at a stack of books. Just staring at them for a moment before her father walks in. A lot of people speculate she was either A: Thinking of Blake, B: Thinking of Ruby or C: Just wanting to read. I can go with either first two choices, just figured I’d point that out. While she is dealing with her own personal demons as well as some triggering PTSD. We often go to Blake who is trying to come to terms that because of her Yang got hurt. Her guilt made her run, while it put these thoughts in her head that Yang would be safe if she left. As we delve in deeper Blake does nearly break down in front of her father after he apologizes for worrying about her. If Sun hadn’t come in I am almost willing to bet Blake would have poured her heart out to her father. Not confessing anything just how she felt and how she felt when Yang was hurt how and in v5 as Weiss somewhat put it “Everything she was afraid would happen did happen the second she let those walls down.”  During that time we are introduced to Ilia who had triggered another fear out of Blake when she had hurt Sun. Blake was furious with Sun before she once again poured her heart out. She never asked for them to put their lives on the line for her, she wants them to hate her because she feels like it would be easier to be hated then to be loved, She tells Sun she’s done seeing her friends hurt because of her, admits that every day she thinks about them and listing off each character Yang’s comes out the worst. Weiss and Ruby are equally missed but Yang. Blake comes off as if Yang is someone she misses so terribly that it hurts to even say her name. While yes she does admit that she loves them, all of them. The way she says Yang’s name leads me to believe that when she says “They we’re my friends, I love them like I never thought I could love anybody”. She thinks no- she believes they’d be better off without her that no one can help her and she’s better off doing everything alone, then Sun kinda does something out of character, for someone who has feelings for Blake he actually in my eyes it seems like he willingly admits defeat by saying this. “You think you’re being selfless but you’re not, and yea your chameleon friend got me good. But I’d do it all again if it meant protecting you and I can promise Yang would say the same.” He didn’t have to add Yang into that statement. He could have just kept it at I’d do it all again if it meant protecting you but instead he added Yang to it knowing how much Blake cares for her. Then he goes and adds to it by saying. “ You can make you’re own choices sure, but you don’t get to make ours. When your friends fight for you, it’s because we want too. So stop pushing us out, it hurts more then anything the bad guys could ever do to us.” In my head this is also something that is triggered towards Yang cause once again in V5 we see Yang state that Blake doesn’t have to do it alone and that she needs her as much as Blake needs Yang. ————————- EDIT: I Added a little more I had missed out on. It’s things like these if they’re small or insignificant to you that’s fine. Everyone has their reasoning for why they like something if my reasoning isn’t enough that’s fine. I just wanted to share. Sorry this was long and I’m sorry I didn’t offer pictures. Tumblr and the way it works is still an odd thing for me. But I hope you all enjoy reading it just the same. Also someone suggested I try White Rose next. I just might actually. I know it’s less likely to be canon but that doesn’t mean I won’t try and think of reasons.

Small Talks Of Something
Fandom: RWBY
Pairing: Jaune/Ruby
Notes: Future AU with fluff and small amounts of angst. I don’t know if this info is really needed but in this AU, Jaune is a teacher at a newly reformed Beacon, Ruby is still a Huntress with a new team, Weiss had started a new company, Yang is also a Huntress and Blake leads the new White Fang (they live in Menagerie and are also getting married so there’s some slight bumbleby)
“...Ok. Now that we can see how the armies are set, with the red chalk being Army 1 and the blue chalk being Army 2, can anyone tell me what a smart first move is?” Jaune Arc asks, turning around from the chalkboard set before him to look at his students. He stands tall, with long blond hair pulled back into a bun. He is one of the more casually dressed teachers at Beacon, with his worn jeans and t-shirt, hoodie tied around his waist. But Jaune figures as long as he is comfortable and can move around freely than it’s fine.
His classroom is set up in a wide half-circle, his students spread out. This is a class for third-year leaders, so there is only a handful present. A few hands shot up, a few more following as he waits a minute. Finally, he calls out. “Ms. Alice?”
A young girl with short, spiky pink hair speaks up. “If Army 1 could split their forces, then half could distract Army 2, while the other half flank them.”
Jaune nods. “Ok, that’s a pretty good move. Can anyone tell what could be wrong with this strategy?”
A few more hands. Jaune points to another student, a boy this time. He also stands up, answering  “If you halve the army, that halves the manpower. Army 1 will be crushed before they can fully flank.”
“That’s certainly a worry.”
“But it depends on the army.” Alice pipes up again. “If the distracting half of the Army can hold their own, and if the flanking half of the Army is quick, then the strategy still works.”
Jaune moves to sit on the edge of his desk, watching Alice and the boy (Cadet) argue back and forth. He smiles as a few more students started adding their own suggestions. Just as he is about to break in, the door to his classroom bursts open.
On instinct, he reaches for Crocea Mors, the sword is a comfortable weight against his side. But his hand stills at the sound of a familiar voice. “Jaune!”
“Ruby?” Jaune asks, a frown waring with the smile that threatens to take over as Ruby strolls into his classroom, seemingly oblivious to the commotion her appearance is making.
“Is that Ruby Rose ?”
“That’s totally Ruby Rose! I can’t believe she’s here!”
“Do you think I could get an autograph?”
“Do you think she could teach me some moves?”
Jaune ignores the whispers of his students. Instead, he walks forward to meet Ruby. “Ruby, what are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you until tomorrow?”
Ruby shrugs, taking Jaune’s hands and giving him a peck on the check. “I rushed home to see my husband. Is that so bad?”
The frown wins out. Jaune looks her over. “And you aren't hurt? Right?”
Ruby grins. “Yep!”
Jaune purses his lips. “Uh-huh.”
Ruby doesn’t relent. “Jaune, it’s fine. I’m here now, right?” She grins, wide, spreading her arms out. Jaune runs his eyes over her quickly. She doesn't  appear to be hurt beyond a few bandages on her hands. Jaune has no doubt that she had been well taken care of by her teammates while away on her mission, but he still worries.
Sighing, he lets it drop. He could take a closer look later. “So what are you doing here?”
“I came to surprise you.” She exclaims. “And to tell you that you now have the rest of the afternoon off.” There is a mischievous look in her eyes, a twinkle even.
“Really? I’m finding that hard to believe that you got that cleared.” But Jaune can see that the damage is already done. At the promise of the class getting out early, his students start to get antsy. Combined with facing the great Ruby Rose, no one is paying attention anymore. Scrolls are out and friends have clumped together to talk.
“Come on.” Ruby pleads. “I’ve been gone for two months. Don’t you want to hang out with your wife?” She batters her eyes at him.
Jaune can feel his resolve crumbling. Taking one more look at his students, seeing the way they are looking at him, anxious and hopeful, makes the last of his willpower disappear. Taking a deep breath, his shoulders slump. “Fine.”
Chaos breaks out. Students rush to pack their bags and leave. Over the sound of rustling and talking, Jaune tries to call out their homework. “Please write a half-page of what your first move would be if you were the leader in this situation. It will be due by next class period.” He feels Ruby pull at his arm, trying to force him out of the room. He digs his heels in, still calling out assignments. “And please remember, your essay on weapons and war is due next week.”
Eventually, Ruby hauls him out the room and down the hallway.
                                                       ~
They end up having lunch at a nearby cafe. Hidden between two larger buildings and only a few tables wide, it wasn't the most well-known place. But the sandwiches are like heaven to the tongue and Jaune loves their coffee. He watches, with a small smile as Ruby digs into her food. He knows that food on the road isn’t the best, that the rations that are often given to the Hunters were better used as ammo. So he doesn't say anything as Ruby orders another plate of fries. Instead, shrugs his shoulders at the waitress.
When Ruby finally settles back in her chair with a happy smile and a pat on her tummy, Jaune knows it's safe to talk. “So tell me about your adventures.”
Ruby’s eyes lit up. She leans forward. “Oh Jaune, you would have loved it. I mean, not the Grimm part but you should have seen the view. And I got to meet some new Hunters. Just out of school. A bit cocky, but good kids. They should go far.”
Ruby babbles on, sometimes tripping over her own words in her haste to get them out. Jaune continues to listen. He loves the way Ruby talks, the high pitch of her voice as she describes fights, the way other’s names are cradled on her tongue, the one place they can always be safe. Comrades who have fought side by side with her for years now. Her hands are just as expressive. They cut through the air, showing Jaune what her words can not say.
“And guess who I ran into?”
“Who?”
“Weiss!” Ruby’s grin turns bright as she leans in close. “I was even able to get coffee with her.”
“Oh? How’s she doing?” It’s been a few months since Jaune last saw Weiss was when she had come to stay with them during her business trip in Vale.
“Good. She had another breakthrough with some weapons she's been designing, something to help the metal from wearing down. And she made top ten Women of the Year for science and technology for the fifth time, which is exciting. I'm pretty sure I convinced her to hold a party for the event Oh. And I think she broke up with her latest boyfriend. Again.”
“Wait. I thought she was dating that Atlas Huntress?”
“No, she broke up with her early this year, remember?”
Jaune chuckles at that. Weiss still holds a Huntress badge and would go out time from time to help protect Atlas’ borders. But she had given that up as a full-time job years ago. Instead, she focused her attention on creating a more equal and powerful dust company than that of her brother’s. Jaune was glad for her, Weiss was determined and inspirational, a force to be reckoned with. She was well on her way clawing to the top.
She also seemed to be taking those same traits into her personal life. She made no secret of the line of lovers she had coming into her office. As she told them one day, “Why should I keep it a secret? Whitley would find out anyways and use it against me. Might as well get it out in the open.”
Jaune figured she was still revealing in being free from the restrictions of her family.
“Considering she just released her new line of dust based battle gear, I’m sure she’ll be fine,” Jaune says.
Ruby shakes her head, smiling. “That’s what Yang said too.”
“How is she by the way?”
“Stressing about the wedding. So the usual.”
“She knows it’s going to go off without a hitch, right? Especially because Kali and Taiyang are busting their ass off to make sure it goes well.”
“Oh, she knows. But she’s sure that something is going to go wrong.”
“I thought Blake was the one to get uptight about these kinds of things? What happened to carefree and adventurous Yang?”
“I know! It’s so weird. It’s like they switched personalities or something. It’s freaky.” Ruby shudders. “Anyway, I offered our help if she ever needs it.”
“I’ll bring my muscles,” Jaune says, flexing. Ruby snorts and Jaune pouts at her. “Hey.”
“Aw, I’m sorry but do you think Yang needs help moving anything.” Ruby reaches across the table to grab Jaune’s hand. “And besides, I’m pretty sure if she needs extra muscles, she’ll call Nora.”
“Ok. Fair.”
“Or maybe Ilia.”
“Sure.”
“Sun, too.”
“I get it.”
“Probably Ren.”
“Now you’re just getting insulting.”
Ruby smirks, sticking her tongue at him before bringing his hand up for a light kiss. Jaune smiles back, enjoying their shared warmth, the way a light breeze blows through his hair, the way everyone else seems to disappear. “I’m glad you’re back.” He whispers. “I missed you...missed this.”
“...I did too.” But something flickers in her eyes and suddenly Jaune is sitting straighter.
“You. You are staying, right? At least for a few weeks?” He asks.
Ruby looks away. He silence is answer enough. Jaune looks down. “How long?”
Ruby clears her throat. “They want me in Mistral by the end of the week. I’ll be taking a ship in two days time.”
“Two days?” Jaune wrenched his hand away, leaning back in his chair. “You only get to rest for two days? Ruby. Don’t you think that’s pushing it a little?”
Ruby frowns. “Jaune, they need me in Mistral.”
“Do they?”
“Yes.” Ruby reaches her hand across, reaching for Jaune. “They need all the Huntsmen they can get. I know...that I haven’t been spending a lot of time home but I need to do this. I need to.”
Jaune sighs. “I know you do. But, Ruby. You can’t keep doing this. You were gone for two months. Then before that, you did a three-month mission. Before that, it was five weeks. You barely get a rest in between each. You’re going to burn out.” But he holds her hand again.
“I’m fine.”
Jaune is silent for a second. “Do I need to stage an intervention with Yang, Blake, and Weiss?”
“You wouldn’t.”
“I would and you know it.”
Ruby slumps in her chair. “That’s not playing fair.”
“When it comes to getting you to take care of yourself, I can’t afford to play fair.”
“Oh look who’s talking.” Ruby sticks her tongue out at Jaune before giving him a small smile. “You’re still seeing that therapist, right?”
“Yep. She thinks I’m making great progress,” Jaune says. “I don't as anxious anymore when you or Ren or Nora or anyone else leaves. It would help though, if I knew you were taking care of yourself, though.” He gives Ruby a pointed look.
“Point taken" Ruby shakes her head. “I’m am glad that you’re still working on it. I would like to keep having you in my future.”
“Likewise.” Jaune gives her hand a squeeze. Ruby looks away for a moment but quickly looks back.
“One more mission. Then I’ll request for time off.”
“Not just for a week?”
“Not just for a week. A couple months at least. A proper vacation.”
Jaune’s shoulders drop, all tension leaving him. “Thank you.”
“Anything for my nagging husband.”
“Your nagging husband who loves you very much.”
“My nagging husband who loves me very much, yes.” She brings Jaune's hand up for a kiss. “I love you, Jaune, nagging and worrying and all.”

Silence in Atlas 27/30
Once more, this is a dark take on Volume 7 from a Bumbleby standpoint. It has scenes of graphic violence. If there are any specific trigger warnings I will specify it.
I'm sorry this took so long. I really had to invent some time to finish this but I promised myself I wouldn't abandon this story so I AM GOING TO FINISH THIS. HERE WE GO!
------------
Yang woke up with Blake in her arms. She could see the back of her head, black hair sprawled over the pillow, and feel the warmth of her body against hers. This was what she wanted to wake up to for the rest of her life. It amazed her that she had caught any sleep at all that night. Her mind was racing with all the different scenarios that could take place during her mission with Ironwood. She wondered if the intel he had was real. She wondered if The Traders were still there. She wondered if she would be able to find Aleph. But, most of all, she wondered if she could keep herself from killing him. Then, out of nowhere, a certain faunus began purring and all Yang could focus on was the way in which Blake snuggled against her. Somehow that was all it that took for her to fall asleep.
The cat eared girl woke up not long after her, stretching her arms before turning around. Their noses brushed against each other and Yang could feel herself blushing. Amber met lilac. Blake’s ears twitched twice before she snored. Yang grinned. Whenever the blonde thought her girlfriend could not be cuter something like that happened.
“I love you” Yang said before kissing the faunus’ lips gently. She would give everything to hear Blake say she loved her back. It wasn't  because she needed any confirmation, of course. She had no doubt that her feelings were reciprocate but Blake's silence would always be a reminder of the hell she had been through and all the things that had been taken from her. Deep breath. She wanted to keep her mind at ease, at least until it was time to leave.
They spent breakfast explaining the mission to Blake’s parents. Yang wasn’t sure if they should be frontal with them but her girlfriend insisted. Their reaction was calm. They understood. Ghira even considered tagging along but talked himself out of it when he realized he would not be able to control himself after what those people had done to his daughter. When the conversation was over, Kali asked Yang to help her with the dishes while Ghira and Blake cleaned the table. Once they were in the kitchen, she pulled her to a side.
“You have to stay calm” she said “Don’t lose yourself, sweetheart”.
“I will and I won’t” the blonde replied before the woman pulled her in for a hug. It still amazed her that Blake’s mother could actually care for her in that way after everything that had happened. When Kali broke the gesture she looked deep into Yang’s eyes before speaking once more.
“Make sure you get them all”.
------
When the aircraft landed on Mantle, Yang was already standing next to the door. She had no time to lose. As soon as it opened she stepped outside, Ironwood close behind her. The operation was simple: get as close as possible to the Trader’s hideout without getting noticed and then rush in. They had the surprise factor in their favor and did not intend to lose it. Yang, who had been headstrong and loud most of her life, had to learn stealth when looking for her girlfriend and it was coming really useful.
“Yang” Ironwood called. “We have some walking to do, once we are close enough I’ll order the attack” he explained. Yang nodded. She was too focused in controlling her rage to even speak. The Traders were so close she could feel it in her skin. Aleph. The man that had kidnapped, electrocuted and raped Blake was just a few kilometers away. Deep breath. She had to keep her promise.
The woods were pretty dense but, luckily, it seemed like the atlesian military had done its job and actually knew where they were going. They walked swiftly and without doubt towards the faint sight of artificial light. Yang’s hands were sweating with anticipation. She couldn’t stop thinking about Blake. She was probably having dinner already. Kali said she was going to cook her daughter’s favorite dish that night and Agape was supposed to be over. Yang had invited the bear faunus herself, thinking her company would keep her girlfriend’s mind distracted from the fact she was going after The Traders.
“Halt” a voice whispered and they all stopped moving. Ironwood walked into the darkness and out of their sight. In the silence of the night all they could hear was the wind against the trees. After several minutes the general came back.
“We are very close. They have several guards but nothing we can’t handle. They seem pretty sure they are safe” he said, his voice low but audible. “Walk behind me and when I give the sign you run”. The order was passed ear to ear. They couldn’t risk being heard.
Yang focused her eyes on the back of Ironwood’s head. Deep breath. She wanted to run already. She wanted to run with all her strength and find Aleph. Time seemed to slow down dramatically until she saw the general raising his hand. This is it. As soon as Ironwood's hand moved the blonde started running.
She felt the trees scratching her face as she rushed through the forest. She could hear the soldiers getting left behind but she didn't care. The sooner she got there the better chance she had at finding Aleph. Blake had told her about the man's semblance. He could, apparently, sense when someone was planning to attack him. She knew he'd try to get away as soon as he felt how much she wanted him dead.
Yang reached the hideout before anybody else. The place reminded her a bit of her mother’s tribe. However, unlike Raven’s camp, it was pretty clear that this was an improvised hideout The Traders moved into after the military started to look for them all around Atlas. In spíte of the circumstances, they had made sure their hideout was completely walled  up. She could see the entrance in the distance, two men guarding the door.
Deep breath.
She waited until the men turned their backs to make her first move. Yang had to take advantage of the fact that Ironwood’s men hadn’t arrived yet and find Aleph. She wanted to be the one that got him. The blonde picked up a rock and threw it as far as she could. The sound it made startled the guards. They argued and one of them left to investigate. This was her chance. When the men were about fifteen meters away she ran. They never stood a chance. Ironwood was right: those bastards felt safe and untouchable. They hadn’t really sent their best to guard the entrance and Yang was going to make sure they regretted it. She jumped the guard that was still at the door. He had been looking at his pal when a metallic arm caught him by the neck.
“In two minutes the Atlas military are going to break into this camp. If you tell me where Aleph is I will let you go and you can get out of here” she said into the man’s ear. “Do you understand?”
“Yes” the man managed to say, his body frozen in fear.
“Where is him?” she asked, applying a little bit of extra force in her hold.
“He’s in the second largest tent. A blue one on the farthest right, close to the wall” she let him go as soon as he finished speaking and didn’t stay long enough to see if he had actually left. She could hear Ironwood’s men arriving in the distance, just like she had in Staub. The hideout was slowly waking up. Where the fuck was this tent?

Silence in Atlas (15/?)
Once more, this is a dark take on Volume 7 from a Bumbleby standpoint. It has scenes of graphic violence. If there are any specific trigger warnings I will specify it.
I DID IT, GUYS! I’m kinda proud of myself for finishing this jajajaja. Like I said I never upload unless I have finished the FOLLOWING chapter so I had to finish ch16 to publish this one and I pulled and all nighter (it that how it is written?) :P I’ll try to keep uploading at a good pace. My life is kinda cramped and busy right now but there is always time for Bumbleby. Always. NOW ONTO THE CHAPTER!
-------------
Blake looked so small lying in her hospital bed. Her eyes were tightly closed and her face spoke of pain. She had bandages on her neck and her wrists. The rest of her body was covered by white hospital bed sheets. She was bruised all over. There were wires coming out of her like roots, connecting her to several medical machines that kept track of her vital signs. The beeping sound of the heart monitor was steady and it gave Yang a sense of peace. Blake was alive.
“We’ll keep her asleep for a couple of days” the doctor said as they walked inside the room. With all of them there it was kinda crowded but he didn’t mind. He’d never had a case like this so regular protocols were pretty much out the window. “It will allow her aura to recuperate and help with the healing”.
They all stared in silence. The sight was heartbreaking. None of them could believe that actually was their friend and teammate. It wasn’t fair. Blake was strong and brave and kind and it made no sense that somebody would do something like this to her. After everything they had gone through, after all the people they had helped this was how Atlas had repaid them.
Thanks for trying to save the world, here’s your broken friend.
Weiss stared at the bed, her eyes wide open in disbelief. She had tried to imagine how Blake would look when they found her, she tried to be ready. She wasn’t. There was nothing that could prepare her for all the thoughts that were racing through her mind. Every single wound and bruise in Blake’s body had been caused by someone on purpose. Someone that thought it was okay to do so. She had been tortured horribly just for being a faunus. What had she gone through? What had she seen?
This was sick.
“Oh, Blake, I’m so sorry” Weiss said, her voice breaking the silence. She took a hand to her mouth and felt her body shake. It didn’t take long for tears to appear. How could this have happened to her friend? The former heiress could not stop thinking about how her family’s heritage was built on the exploitation of the faunus. How many others had gone through this? How many others were never rescued? Ruby hugged her and she let herself break down. The silver eyed girl wanted to cry too, but she had to remain strong for her team. For her friend. For her sister. She looked at the bed and couldn’t help but to wonder if things would ever go back to normal.
Would Blake ever be the same?
No one said anything else. The only sound in the room, besides the machines, were Weiss’ cries. Jaune looked down, feeling useless after failing to help the faunus with his semblance. Nora held onto Ren as she closed her eyes, not wanting to see what was in front of her. He looked up, tears pooling in the corners of his eyes. Oscar didn’t even enter the room, the sight from outside was too much for him. Qrow just wanted a drink to forget for a second all of this had actually happened.
Yang walked towards the bed, pulled up a chair and sat down. This was going to be her place from now on. Until Blake was healed she was going to stay next to her. Whatever it took to bring her back from the darkness. She had rescued her from the mine but she knew right then and there that was just the beginning. She took one of the faunus’ hands in hers and closed her eyes. Blake was here. Blake was alive and that would have to be enough for now.
---------
Yang paced around the room while the scroll made the call. What was she going to say? How could she put into words what had happened? A part of her wanted it to go to voicemail. It would be easier. She could just tell them and be done with it. Have someone else answer if they called back. That would be great, then she wouldn’t have to hear their voices when she broke their hearts. Why were communications being restored just now? She wished silently they would go down again before the call connected.
“Hello” a female voice answered. This was it. Deep breath. No turning back.
“Hi, is this Kali Belladonna?” she asked. Of course it was her. This was her number. How much of an idiot was she?
“Yes, it’s me” the woman answered . She sounded so nice, so happy. How could she be doing this to her?
“Hey, I’m Yang. I’m Blake’s... teammate” she said, choosing no to call her “girlfriend”. That was a complete different talk they would have later. That is if they ever wanted to talk to her again. Back at Mistral she met them very briefly, but she had imagined having a very good relationship with them. She imagined Blake officially introducing her as her as her girlfriend, both of her parents smiling at her, feeling happy they had found each other in the midst of this war. Now that scenario was gone. There was no way it would happen after what she was about to do.
“Oh, hi, dear” Kali replied. “Is everything okay with Blake?” she asked, her voice taking a concerned tone.
“Could you call your husband, please?” her voice started to break.
“What happened?” she asked again, a crack in her voice.
“Please, I need to tell you both” Yang replied, trying her best no to give away how serious her message was. She failed.
“What’s the matter? What’s happened to my daughter?” the woman said, her voice now clearly altered. When the girl didn’t reply she yelled at her husband. “Ghira!” she called. “Come here, dear!”. Yang felt like choking on her tongue. There was no running away from this. She was going to tell them the truth. She could hear Blake’s dad getting close.
“What is the matter?” the man asked.
“Blake’s teammate is on the phone...Something happened to her” Kali replied. There was a brief  silence before Ghira reacted.
“WHAT?!” he exclaimed. “Is she all right?”. Deep breath. Speak. Say something. Anything.
“She is out of danger now but… A couple of days after arriving to Atlas, Blake was walking back to the place we are staying in and she…” Yang’s hand started shaking. Just say it. Get it over with. It’s not gonna get any easier. Deep breath. “She was kidnaped. I don’t know if you are familiar with The Traders. They are a group that…”
“THE TRADERS?!” Ghira’s voice interrupted her. “No… Not my Blake. Please. No”
“What’s going on? Who are this people?” Kali asked, clearly not as aware as her husband about the situation.
“What did they do to her?” he asked. Yang wanted to die. She wanted to disappear. She should have walked back home with her.
“They… They tortured her. They cut her vocal chords and sold her into slavery down in the mines. I was able to get her out but it took eight days to find her and…” she started crying. There was no going back. “I’m sorry. I am so sorry. She’s in the hospital now. She’s getting better but… I just… I’m sorry”
“How could this happen?” Kali said, her voice trembling. “Not my baby, please”.
“We are flying to Atlas right now” Ghira said. Yang knew this would happen and she was afraid of what his reaction would be when she told him they couldn’t.
“I don’t think that will be possible for now. Atlas is in lockdown. Nobody enters. Nobody leaves” she explained. Kali’s cries were the first thing she heard when she stopped talking.
“We’ll find a way” Blake’s father said. “I can’t believe this. How could you all let that happen to her?” there was so much anger in his voice. Yang felt like shit. She wanted Ghira to punch her in the face. She deserved it. How could she let this happen to Blake? If she hadn’t been such a hothead maybe all of this wouldn’t have happened. If she had listened to her and hadn’t lashed out at those racist idiots they wouldn’t have had that fucking argument. Now all she could do was say she was sorry.
“Is she awake?” Kali said, her voice weak.
“Not right now” the blonde replied. “They’ve given her a lot of meds for the pain. They say she needs to sleep a lot so her aura can heal her better. She’s being treated by the best doctors here”.
“Could you call us when she wakes up?” the woman asked.
“I will”
“Okay” Ghira said before finishing the call. Yang remained still, the scroll still pressed against her ear. It was done. Blake’s parents knew what had happened and there was no turning back. She tried to imagine how they felt, knowing their daughter had gone through hell. They had just gotten her back after everything with the White Fang and Adam and now... Yang placed the scroll back in her pocket and sat down on the couch. Deep breath. She covered her face with her hands and tried to control herself from breaking down.
Why did she choose to do this herself?
