I want to write an S/J preschool (nursery, daycare, whatevs I’m js British) AU, but idk if it would have the vibes? Like I know very roughly what I want to happen, it’d be an AU where Jack has Charlie, Charlie is like three years old and going to preschool, maybe Jack and Sara will be divorced but on good terms? Sam’s working at the preschool, and Charlie LOVES her, because she talks about Space all the time and Charlie is obsessed with space. Normally Sara picks Charlie up, but she’s having to work late so Jack is picking him up instead (the starting point of the fic) and he and Sam meet, and you know, he adores her almost straight away.

I mean, obviously our favs would still all be in it. Teal’c, Daniel, Vala, Janet(with toddler Cassie), Cam, Jacob, General Hammond, etc. I’d fit them in.

I don’t know I’m coming up with ideas as I type.

I could do it, but i feel like I’d need help sorting certain things about it out. Like the situation between Jack and Sara, the timeline of it all, all that jazz.

Like Jack and Sara are divorced on good terms but who does Charlie live with?? Does he just alternate between the two? Because I don’t want to make it an AU where Sara’s just dead, but idk how I’d do it.

If anyone has any ideas and would like to help me out, please reach out, because I wanna do this as I can’t get it out my head but I don’t know where to start.

I've put in Teyla, 'cause I love her and she definitely is deserving both of pie and of Lorne's attention :) But also any of the above, and any combination! I may have a thing for Sheppard and Mckay getting the same pie and for each of them it takes them a while to understand of course, and then when they do, they're like "Ok, but then why did [Sheppard/Mckay] also get get some pie? Oh..."

honestly we need more fics and headcanons about a city wide text chain i refuse to believe you put that many nerds and jocks in one place and they don't make some sort of texting system

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #413

I went to therapy today. Admittedly, going only once a month is a little difficult; I really like my therapist; they really seem to get me. It feels good to go to a place that is safe and to speak with someone who actually understands me. I spoke about the recent conflict in my house. I spoke about what happened to K. And I spoke about someone else, too.

I felt emboldened by my therapist's response to the conflict in my house. I guess... I guess most of the time, I am quick to assume that I am the cause of problems when they occur. I did not do that this time. For once, this conflict is squarely on M's conditioning and anxieties, not on mine.

I think from this point forward, I'm going to start having more faith in my own judgment and perceptions than in M's. Not because M's judgment and perceptions aren't worth considering (they are!), but... because my own are also astute and on point most of the time. M has taught me a lot, but... he's got his own issues to work through, too. He's not some kind of paragon with all the answers to everything. And neither am I.

When I returned home, I made myself a nice tea. This one was a spiced black tea with rose petals; I really liked how it turned out:

I was hungry and there was rice in the fridge that needed to be used, as well as some old Frito cheese. So I decided to make rice, eggs, and fried Spam for me and for J; M didn't want any. It's easy enough to slice up the Spam and get the outsides all crispy on the griddle. And it's easy to make over-easy eggs on the griddle, too; I used the leftover garlicky butter from the confit garlic to make it:

...Simple, yet very satisfying.

Between then and going to physical therapy, I got a call from one of the many state jobs I applied to!!

I am scheduled for an interview on February 14th!!!! I got some paperwork via email to fill out, so I filled it out and sent it along! Now the thing to do is wait!!!

I went to physical therapy after that. K's injury is... pretty bad, even for what happened. I asked if there was a donation box. There isn't one. But because I asked, they're gonna talk about making one. I'm eager to put stuff in it once it exists.

I will be seeing a new physical therapist for the foreseeable future. Fortunately, this one is also familiar with hypermobility, and is also on the autism/ADHD spectrum. I gave him a quick summary of everything that I had been doing with K. And then... he started working on the leg I injured years ago. Specifically, he did some work on the joint between my tibia and fibula, and then he used a fancy tool to get some crunchy spots out of the surrounding muscle. The ankle and foot of my left leg move around a lot better and is stronger than before.

...This is significant because K proposed, in the past, that part of my ribcage issue likely stems from the fact that I put more weight on my right leg, due to the fact that it's uninjured. Apparently, when you do that, it compresses the ribs on the same side that you're putting more weight on. So the idea is that if we strengthen the injured leg, some of the compression on the right side of my ribs will go away.

I hope it works. Goodness, but bodies are wild, aren't they...?

M and I went out for snacks afterwards. And now we're home. M and J are downstairs watching Stargate. I am up here, in my art room, where it's warm, writing to you.

At some point today, it occurred to me that, although I am getting better at holding the worst case scenario of any given situation in my mind as simply a possibility rather than as a fundamental truth about what will occur next, I still become upset and rattled by the possibility of the worst case scenario. I think of how I initially perceived the new manager at my store. I think of how I perceived M's words last Tuesday.

I got all upset and worried and bent out of shape... and for what? For what? A mere perception, and one that wasn't even true. All that wasted energy. Hm.

...I'm not sure exactly what I'll do with that thought just yet. My brain has to chew on it for a while, methinks. I want to be someone who can account for the worst case scenario as a possibility, but without getting upset at the fact that it exists. I don't have all the answers to all the things, but... I still gotta remember a little more often that I'm smart and capable and able to handle difficult things. I don't have to be afraid.

...I'll try to bring that mindset to my interview in 10 days. Wish me luck, okay?

If you've followed me long enough, you've probably seen me vent about the weird shit I see on /r/asksciencefiction. 99.9% of the time, the subreddit is just full of people asking questions about the lore of various scifi and fantasy franchises. Some are silly, some ask for deep dives, some ask for clarifications on things that aren't obvious from a wiki search, etc.

Then you get the people weirdly obsessed with a single topic and refuse to let it go. Like the guy who repeatedly asked about the age of consent in various fantasy worlds. Or another who asked a dozen questions about Boba Fett in the span of an hour, spamming the subreddit with threads.

Right now I'm seeing someone obsessed with Stargate to a weirdly specific degree. Their multiple questions all hinge on a single jaffa character, the teenager Rya'c, and how his alien strength would compete against other human teenagers if he were transported to a real world school. This person has asked at leas four or five different questions on whether it would be cheating if an artificially enhanced teenage alien were to play sports against humans of a similar age.
