Dream log 186
I watched an entire movie about the punk on the bus in star trek 4. in the movie he was trying to start a restaurant or something and then someone kidnapped his boyfriend and then he got all his friends together who greatly resembled the scooby doo gang minus scooby and more punk to find them. they go to a furniture store that was full of 1980s technology then they walk through the woods and find an old house with an angry lady in it. They finally make it to the abandoned rail yard and the punk on the bus from Star Trek 4 rescues his boyfriend. the guy who kidnapped the boyfriend got away but not before dropping a suitcase full of cash they can use to start the restaurant. the angry lady in the old house decides to go work at the restaurant too and then they moved to gainesville florida and open five star pizza. (Which is a real restaurant and a fest staple) throughout the movie he talks about the time he met those time travelers from the future and wishes that they were here to help now but nobody from star trek ever shows up but apparently this was still a star trek movie.

Blog 3: Tales Along the Senescent Trail: Part 3
"At my age, flowers scare me." —George Burns
Damn! I couldn’t stop shaking. It was cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey!* I tried hugging myself, but it didn’t help much. The icy wind blew past with a shriek and a deathly caress colder than my evil stepmother’s last kiss. We slammed the front door shut and teetered forward into the frigid air,
We rolled into a frozen February for the hour-long trip to the hospital in Gainesville. Dr. M insisted that we get there early, but, I mean, getting up a four-thirty in the morning is kinda—no, it’s real early, even for a former Marine. I hadn’t had to get up this early since my days in boot camp on the rifle range at Parris Island.
Even so, I stretched a yawn and stepped carefully towards the white Colorado, taking note of the icy brick patio.
“You’d better take my arm,” I told her. June wasn’t as nimble as she used to be. We called it the Bashir shuffle, after watching an episode on Star Trek Deep Space Nine when the station’s doctor, Julian Bashir, was hexed by an alien and began to age rapidly. At the end of the episode, he was talking in a high-pitched voice and taking little tee-tiny shuffling steps. We got such a kick out of it, we named his gait the “Bashir shuffle.”
It’s not so funny now.
In any case, it was too early and too cold for a couple of old coffin-dodgers like us to be wandering around. I mean, a slip could mean a busted hip, a cracked skull, or worse. It was bad enough that I had to go so Dr. M could “take a look in there” to see what was going on.
I made a fist with my right hand and unconsciously started lightly tapping on my upper chest. I stopped for a moment to catch my balance. My heart started racing. I could feel the slowly tightening chest constriction take hold.
“Hold up a minute, Momsie.” I steadied myself against her, and she gave me a quick worried look.
It was that old familiar painful squeeze--angina.
Years ago, in the beginning, there was no pain, only an immeasurable slowing down and a faint feeling of all-encompassing tiredness. Even the smallest incline taxed my physical abilities. I hardly even noticed it at first, but then there were the episodes.
In one instance, after cutting three-fourths of the front yard, I started to feel weak. I could hardly even push the self-propelled mower or keep it in a straight line. I stopped and leaned over the handles to catch my breath. I felt faint and clutched tightly at the bar.
“Are you okay?” Momsie hooted from the porch where she had been sitting, watching.
I didn’t answer. I couldn’t answer. Suddenly I couldn’t breathe good.
She stood up and hollered for Nghia, one of my students, who was working on wooden dummies in the back. Nghia shot out the front door at the sound of urgency in her voice. He was a strapping young Vietnamese boy and always seemed to know what people were thinking by the sound in their voices.
She pointed at me and shouted, “Help him!!”
Nghia came scrambling down the hill. It looked real easy for a sixteen-year-old, but he was lanky and real strong.
He grabbed me by the shoulders with one arm and by my belt with the other as he helped me back up the driveway, through the front door, and into the recliner on the other side of the living room.
They hovered over me like a pair of helicopter parents until I felt the hotness and the pain recede out of sight into the center of my chest. The thumping was not as wild and scary as before.
“We’re taking you to the emergency room right now!” Momsie cried.
“No. Not yet. It’ll pass.”
It would take a more serious episode to break my stubbornness.
============================================
* In the British Navy, they would stack cannonballs on a brass plate with holes (aka a monkey). If it were cold enough, the holes in the plate would contract to the point that the bottom balls could no longer rest in the holes and rolled loose, and thus the term, “it's frozen the balls off.” This became common marine terminology and morphed into sailor slang as “it’s cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey when referencing uncommonly icy weather.

What is Worlds Better Than a Hotel Room?
They say that the typhoons frightened a few people off from Florida. Indeed, I just thought of a truly valid justification for you to return to the state. Florida contains the absolute best Bed and Breakfast hotels in the country, and underneath I present a portion of the ones that stand apart to me.
1. The Addison is a tranquil 14-room motel addressing a novel mix of old-style class with present-day conveniences. Generally, the qualities might appear to conflict yet the developers and proprietors have combined them in a wonderful mix. This Inn was chosen as one of the ten Best Overall Inns of 2009-2010 by BedandBreakfast.com. It likewise reliably keeps the main positioning on TripAdvisor.com. Situated on Amelia Island in the historically significant area of Fernandina Beach, the rooms include patios for unwinding and a charming wellspring yard. The region is a nature sweethearts heaven with perfect seashores, four significant State Parks, and a National Park. One can bicycle, climb, play golf, horseback ride, shell, bird watch, or go backwater or remote ocean fishing. Mark breakfast dishes incorporate new natural product smoothies, breakfast in a boat (prepared potato shell loaded down with fried eggs, cheddar, and disintegrated bacon), banana hotcakes with walnut toffee syrup, fiery breakfast quesadillas, praline French toast, and amazing Peruvian espresso.
2. If you can look past the wild and astounding site, the Cedar Key B and B is a hotel worth visiting! Situated in the second most seasoned city in Florida, the notable hotel was worked in 1880. Initially, the town was known for its cedar, out of which Eagle and Eberhardt pencils were delivered; today its distinguishing strengths are shellfish cultivating and the travel industry. Other than bragging some of the cleanest and most agreeable lodgings possible, this current hotel's draw is likewise the stunning exhibit of exercises nearby: sailing, kayaking, airboats, fishing, bird watching, playing with dolphins, trekking, climbing, scuba plunging, in addition to a well known Arts celebration and the October Seafood Festival. Or on the other hand on the off chance that you like football, go to a Florida Gators game in neighboring Gainesville. A couple of pleasant added components of the motel is the pet cordial status, last moment specials, flavorful breakfast, and an interminable exhibit of conveniences like teas, treats, biscotti, hot cocoas, espressos, an endless container of the freshest custom made treats you've set at any point ever in your mouth.
3. Casa Grandview is situated in the lively, upscale city of West Palm Beach. This Bed and Breakfast joins the absolute most positive provisions of the confined and curious B and Bs with the administrations of an extravagance resort. The Casa offers heartfelt houses, interesting cabins, workmanship deco cabana suites, a la mode tropical waterfront manors, and exemplary city desert garden withdraws. What a marvelous cluster of decisions, numerous with kitchens, elaborate showers, and extensive living regions. The proprietors stock every suite with unquestionably the best exquisite cuisines for your morning meal, and, whenever wanted, for extra suppers. All that you need is accessible including free Wi-Fi, HD TVs, premium satellite assistance, music and film stations, iPod docking stations, and CD players. You can even browse messages and surf the web while enjoying some sunshine poolside or resting in a lounger. You will be looked out for with 5-star administration or left alone for some superb security. Anything you desire is the thing that you get at Casa Grandview.
4. Elizabeth Pointe Lodge is a Nantucket 'shingle style' hotel that disregards the rich blue Atlantic. Nothing more needs to be said. USA Today considered this oceanfront hotel as one of the 10 biggest spots to sit on the patio. Travel and Leisure magazine remembered it as one of the fifty incredible seashore resorts in our country. The book, 1000 Places to See Before You Die, labeled this as where the accentuation is on unadulterated unwinding. The Road Best Traveled recognized the motel as one of the 12 Best Waterfront Inns in America. The distinctions continue endlessly. Other than offering full attendant service and 24-hour room administration, there are additionally connoisseur treats offered the entire day, luxurious wine and appetizers gathering each evening, and an oceanfront breakfast with scads of rich contributions in the sunroom. Inside and out, Elizabeth is not settled to blow away your necessities and assumptions.
5. Florida Trend Magazine expresses that the Herlong Mansion of Micanopy, Florida is "effectively Florida's most rich Bed and Breakfast." on the off chance that you don't have the foggiest idea, this calm little town is south of Gainesville, close to Cross Creek, the town the creator of The Yearling made popular. The ten chimneys and high roofs of the motel are impeccably highlighted with mission oak woodwork and mahogany decorated floors. Photographs can never do equity to the warm magnificence of this spot. Wide verandas between tremendous columns on the first and second floors contain padded swings that disregard an immaculately manicured grass with antiquated transcending oaks. The morning meal isn't stunningly extravagant yet offers delightful customary passage like handcrafted rolls and amazing omelets, rich espresso, and apple bread. One of Auburn’s top targets told reporters this weekend on visit that the Tigers hold the lead and a decision will be coming soon.
4* Buck Richard Jibunor has been on commit watch for quite awhile. In fact, back in March I speculated that Auburn looked like it was about to land the talented athlete out of Athens, GA. However, he didn’t make the follow up visit and since then has made it clear that no decision would come until he had visited a handful of schools. That list appears to be down to one: Florida. Jibunor told Benjamin Wolk over at SECCountry that he is planning on visiting Gainesville for the Florida-Tennessee game on September 16th. He plans to have a decision very soon after that which should be good news for Auburn as he also finally admitted publicly this weekend that the Tigers are his top team and have been for awhile.
From the very beginning of this recruiting cycle, Auburn has made the Nigerian native a priority. He’s very raw having only played football for a few years now but is an elite athlete who has the chance to be an absolute force as a pass rusher at the next level. Over the summer, he won the DL MVP at The Opening Regional in Atlanta and the LB MVP at Rivals 5 Star Camp. He also took reps as a CB at another camp and plays WR for his high school team. This is a kid with a lot of ability, a great attitude and the raw tools to be something special in a few years. If Auburn can lock him down in a few weeks that would be a huge win for this staff and a big boom for this recruiting class.
Jibunor isn’t the only Nigerian native to track though. 3* DE Kayode Oladele seems to be trending Auburn’s way as well right now with the last 7 Crystal Ball picks pointing to the good guys. The Tigers would like to land five defensive lineman this class and Oladele seems to be emerging as one of the top defensive end targets to go with 3* Andres Fox. For both Jibunor and Oladele, the fact that Auburn already has two Nigerian natives on campus in Prince Tega Wanogho and Prince Sammons appears to be playing a major role. Commitments from Jibunor and Oladele would solidify that Nigerian pipeline that seems to be emerging and give Auburn two high ceiling athletes on the defensive line. Definitely something to track over the coming weeks and months.
Recapping Weekend Visitors
Of the four expected 4* 2018 visitors, three made the trip this weekend. 4* OG Trey Hill, 4* DT Coynis Miller and 4* Richard Jibunor all made the trek to the Plains Saturday to see Auburn open the year with a dominating performance. Unfortunately, 4* WR Seth Williams ended up not making the trip but I wouldn’t read too much into that as he didn’t visit anywhere this past weekend. He was supposed to come with his team but the trip got called off.
I am starting to really believe that Trey Hill could end up an Auburn Tiger. He’s visited AU now more than ten times and seems to love the fact that the Tigers have made him a priority. He also told Wolk that he likes the look of Auburn’s depth chart and thinks he could find his way onto the field pretty quickly.
Hill won’t judge his entire decision on playing time, but he sees a channel to the field with the Tigers.
“The depth chart situation, you’re going to have backups at either school that can play. It’s just a matter of coming in and working hard and fitting in. I’m paying attention to it, but I’m really not [looking at it too much],” Hill said. “Most of their [interior] guys are seniors. If I come here, I feel that I’d fit in.”
As for Miller, he continues to state that Florida holds the edge though not by much. It sounds like Auburn continues to feel really good about where they stand with him and having 4* RB Asa Martin committed could really help as the two are close. Throw in his former teammate Tadarian Moultry being on campus along with his close relationship with Rodney Garner and it’s hard not to think that if Auburn takes care of business on the field this season, Miller will end up a Tiger.
Wolk put together a nice summary of info on some of the top targets that made it to campus this past weekend. Here’s who looks to have made it on campus, always a chance I missed somebody:
4* OG Trey Hill
4* WR Matthew Hill (AU Commit)
4* DT Coynis Miller
4* RB Asa Martin (AU Commit)
4* Buck Richard Jibunor
3* WR Shedrick Jackson (AU Commit)
3* ATH Josh Marsh (AU Commit)
2019 4* WR George Pickens (AU Commit)
2019 3* OT Carter Colquitt
2019 3* CB Jalen Alexander
2019 LB Kameron Brown (Derrick Brown’s little brother)
2020 4* WR Dazalin Worsham (#1 player in AL)
2020 DE Andy Boykin
2020 LB Quanderrius Robinson (Coynis Miller’s teammate)
Commit Tracker
Auburn’s pair of running back commits had big nights this past week. 3* RB Shaun Shivers bounced back from a rocky first game with a 23 carry 163 yd performance in a 14-13 win over Miramar. He apparently even took some snaps at cornerback, shutting down 3* WR Dominick Watt in the second half. Not to be outdone, 4* Asa Martin rushed for 4 TDs and 200 yards in a 41-14 beatdown of Bob Jones. That’s 363 yds and 4 TDs between the pair of them. Auburn is adding two very explosive backs to the backfield next season.
While Martin is having an insane start to the season, you might argue that 4* QB Joey Gatewood has been the best of Auburn’s commits so far. The 6’4” 232 lb beast put on a show on ESPN2 two weekends ago in a tough loss to Cartersville then followed that up by leading his Bartram Bears to a 35-24 victory over Mainland, a team that was on a 30 game regular season home winning streak. Gatewood rushed for 68 yds and 2 TDs to go along with 144 yds through the air and 2 more TDs. That’s 7 TDs through two games and over 500 total yards all while rotating every other series with teammate 3* Riley Smith. Gatewood is quickly silencing the haters and establishing himself as one of the top QB prospects in this class.
Here’s how the last week went for the rest of Auburn’s commits:
4* WR Matthew Hill scored on a 58 yd punt return, rushed for 22 yds on 2 carries and caught 5 passes for 46 yds in 35-7 beatdown of South Gwinnett.
Can’t find any stats on 4* S Quindarious Monday but his team lost a tough one to Douglas County 37-32.
4* LB Michael Harris had a 16 yd rec in 35-21 loss to Colquitt County. Haven’t found any defensive stats yet. Auburn coaches were at this game to see Harris, 4* OT Dylan Wonnum, 4* LB JJ Peterson and plenty of other prospects in action.
Due to lightning, 3* S Jamien Sherwood’s game was cut short but he did get a pick and score on a 9 yd rushing TD before then.
Haven’t found anything on how Jalil Irvin’s Stephenson team did this past weekend.
3* DL Daquan Newkirk had quite the debut recording 7 tackles, 2 TFL, 3 QBH and a pass breakup in a wild 42-41 win over Itawamba. Excited to see what he does this fall in a very strong Junior College division.
3* WR Shedrick Jackson did not play in Hoover’s win over Meridian last week due to lingering injury from Grayson game. Expected back this week.
According to Keith Niebuhr, 3* OL Kameron Stutts was pulled in the 2nd half after a head to head hit. Niebuhr believes he will be back this week. Stutt’s team lost 33-20 to Fayette County.
Tough night for 3* S Kolbi Fuqua’s Cordova team who got spanked 47-6 by Pleasant Grove. Haven’t found any stats on Fuqua’s performance.
According to Wolk, Josh Marsh sat out this week due to minor knee injury.
Also according to Wolk, 2019 4* WR George Pickens had 3 catches for 41 yds in Hoover’s win.
