I’ve been working for a while on worldbuilding the inner workings of the Jedi Order. Below is a flowchart of the administrative bodies, their duties, and any other admin bodies they oversee. More details on each below the cut.
These are different groups involved in running the Jedi Order. For different roles within the Jedi, see my Jedi Order Corps and Subdivisions.
High Council: (Finance, bylaws, PR, major trials)
Determines the budget(s)
Relations with the Senate
Only body that can expel members

Set criteria for certifications/ degrees
Help members get degrees from external organizations
Council of Reassignment: (Oversees transfers & is Jedi CPS)
New Initiate paperwork
Transfers between corps and/or branches
Helps members leave the Order
Checks the CoFK when necessary
Padawanship paperwork filed here (crèchemasters sign off, padawan signs off, check master for red flags/ not allowed to take apprentice, sometimes mind healer signs off)

Try & punish cases committed by Jedi & internal to the Jedi Order
Mediate interpersonal disputes
Lawyers for the Order
Cannot expel members

In charge of the cleaning droids
Coordinates trash & recycling with Coruscant government
Has the occasional member who can do specialized maintenance (ex. plumber, electrician)
Volunteers sign up to fix things
Hires outside contractors when there isn't a Jedi with the necessary skills
Assigns Jedi to living quarters
Interior decor
Delegates chores such as taking out the trash, mopping, dusting, etc.
Padawans and initiates are often assigned these chores as punishments
Kitchenmasters: (Mess halls)
Make & serve food in the mess halls
Label the food with which species can eat it
Order food supplies
Supervise initiate clans helping in the kitchens
Quartermasters: (Distribute supplies & manage finances)
Bulk-order supplies for the Order
Provide mission allotments
Desk operators help members pick up supplies
Accounting
Transport Office: (Run the hangar bay & speeder pool)
Responsible for the Order's vehicles
Mechanics
Vehicles are checked in & out like a library for cars & ships
Hire external staff when there aren't enough Jedi
Temple Guard: (Security & emergency response)
Guard against exterior threats to the temple
Security during criminal situations
Really good at sensing danger to temple inhabitants
First responders (fire & police-- MedCorp handles EMS)
Change lightbulbs and smoke detector batteries

Comparing Gated Communities vs. Standalone Plots: Pros and Cons
Gated communities and standalone plots are two of the most popular types of residential developments available today. Both offer unique advantages and disadvantages, so it’s important to understand them before making a decision about where to live. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at the pros and cons of gated communities plots in Hyderabad vs. standalone plots in order to help you make an informed choice.
The first benefit of living in a gated community is security. With restricted access points monitored by guards or cameras, these neighborhoods provide extra protection for residents from potential intruders or criminals looking for easy targets outside their homes. Additionally, many gated communities also have amenities like swimming pools or playgrounds that can be enjoyed without having to leave home – something not always possible with standalone lots due to limited space around each property line.
On the other hand, there are some drawbacks associated with living within a guarded perimeter as well; such as higher homeowner association fees, which cover upkeep costs related to maintenance, staff salaries & equipment repairs/upgrades among other things needed to keep up appearance & safety standards throughout development. Additionally, because all properties share the same entrance point(s), there may be more traffic congestion during peak hours than would otherwise be experienced if had separate driveway leads directly into individual lots.
Standalone plots offer greater freedom when it comes to design choices, since they don't need to adhere to any specific rules or regulations set forth by homeowners' associations - meaning one could build whatever type of structure desired (within the limits of local zoning laws).
Also Read: Vila Plots in Hyderabad
Furthermore, while they might lack certain communal amenities found inside gates complexes (such as pools tennis courts etc.) typically come equipped with larger yards allowing more room for outdoor activities, such as, gardening playing sports etc. However, downside of being completely independent means responsibility for maintaining the entire property rests entirely on the shoulders of the owner, including mowing the lawn, fixing roofing issues, etc; which can become costly over time, especially for those who don't possess a handyman skillset themselves nor hire contractors regularly.
Ultimately whether to choose to live inside the gates complex versus a stand-alone plot depends largely on lifestyle preferences budget constraints, keeping both short-term long and long-term goals in mind when considering purchasing a new home or future residence location!

Headcanons on how the LIs would react to the Oracle suggesting they could start a family once their situation becomes more peaceful.
This request is, as the kids say, “BUSSIN’” (Admin Yara help!!! My older millennial is showing 😫)
Cipactli:
Surprise will be the first thing that crosses his features. Sure, as a royal its was always expected of him to produce an heir to the thrown, however he never expected to find someone he truly loved and that would love him back in order to do so. And then you entered his life and basically turned it upside down and now you have the AUDACITY to come in and tell him that you want to start a family with all misty eyed and looking the way you do.....sign him the fuck up.
He will be so thrilled and just might get slightly misty eyed with you. After all that has happened in Huatzintepec and now finally living in a world surrounded by true peace; he couldn’t imagine a more perfect world and partner to raise and grow a family in and with.
Regardless of wether you both decide to adopt or have your child the fact remains that Cipactli will absolutely R E A D E V E R Y B O O K A V A I L A B L E that might help/ease him into parenthood an DESPITE his preparations he still was not ready (cause who really is am I right). As soon as the child is here he will panic; is he good enough, is he prepared enough, will his child love him, etc., etc. You will most definitely need to help him get out of his own head and reassure him that he will be a wonderful father.
Mukondi:
Mukondi would be ecstatic at the idea of starting a family with you. Although she will be slightly apprehensive at first due to her duties as the human representative of Saiph; most of her insecurities and fears would lie on whether or not she would spend enough time with your child when, as it is, she barely has enough time for herself. Of course, this would be something discussed between you both before any definite decision is made and you both mutually agree that this would be easily solvable by hiring or staff/representatives to take her place in her absence (make👏🏻her👏🏻 realize👏🏻she’s👏🏻not👏🏻an👏🏻island👏🏻and👏🏻it’s👏🏻OK👏🏻TO👏🏻ASK👏🏻FOR👏🏻HELP👏🏻AND👏🏻NOT👏🏻BEAR👏🏻EVERYTHING👏🏻ON👏🏻HER👏🏻OWN👏🏻).
She would be the first one to bring you ideas for baby names whether you like it or not. Lists, upon lists of baby names and meanings, Mukondi does not want to give her child a basic name that everyone has. To her there is allot in a name and it’s important to her that this child knows the thought and care that was meticulous placed in choosing a name that they would be proud to bear.
Mama Mukondi is simply the best mother, hands down, no 🧢. She will spoil them rotten but she isn’t above disciplining when she has to. When it comes to her family pride is the only word that comes to minds, so many things were lost during that time in Huatzintepec but so much more was gained, and for that she couldn’t be more grateful.
Ariki:
At first, he’s super excited, 10/10 yes lets have a child together (very excite, much wow). However, after his initial reaction, there may be some doubts that will settles in. Not because he doesn’t want to, but because he needs to make sure that this child will be supported and loved by both of you. By this, his intentions are not doubt IN you or your capabilities to love anyone but it’s more security that he seeks in your relationship.
It is commonly known for merfolk to be very particular about their life partners, some spend years assessing and building a relationship until finally they feel secure enough to start dating, get married, etc. and this is no exception when it comes to building a family together. There is no doubt in Ariki’s mind that the depth of is love for you is endless, so even though he has his initial hesitations, it’s not something you can both talk about. Set up a game plan, share your insecurities, assure him about your intentions, be completely transparent. Once everything is discussed you can expect Ariki to go right back to the happy baby boi that he was when you first mentioned starting a family together.
Expect Ariki to be super excited about decorating his future child’s room. He would come up with motifs and colors, and of course you would put everything into a cohesive idea which you can both execute without the child’s room being overwhelmed with Ariki’s excitement. HAND MADE DECORATIONS FROM PAPA ARIKI!!!!
Dior:
“....so like...you wanna get a puppy or something...?” (let me also express that if you have a puppo/catto that you call family you are very valid cause same...anyways) Don’t hold your breath on getting an excitable reaction from Dior...you won’t. They might even, lowkey, seem repulsed by the idea of family mainly cause most of the time it involves children.
Look me in the eyes and tell me that Dior would find the idea of a small humanoid being that needs constant attention, screams when displeased, and might have the nerve to grow up and defy any rule set in place by Dior appealing in the slightest. Dior already fills out all those position why in the world would they want a second them. But being serious for a moment; Dior, much like Ariki or any species of merfolk, most definitely consider this a very prominent step in their future. So it is a very real thing that Dior may suggest getting a pet before a child. Much like Ariki, sit down with them, talk with them, discuss any insecurities (cause believe me they’re there). And in reality, it might take a long time for Dior to come around to the idea of a family with you. The one thing that Dior most certainly wants to make sure is that you know that they love you and they consider you their family/whole world regardless of children status.
EVENTUALLY, and with lots of physical, emotional, and mental preparations, Dior will come around, they might lean more towards adopting a child that may be slightly older but still young enough that they can help raise. Trust and believe that Dior will have matching outfits with their mini me. “You may be only 3′ tall and know a total of 4 syllables but thats not an excuse to not look your best, especially not when you’re with me”.
Waauru:
You and Waauru must’ve been together for a long time for you to bring up the possibility of raising a family together, and even more surprising still that she agreed so plainly to you.
Waauru is not one to beat around the bush specially not when it comes to you, she has always prided herself of being completely open to you. You will always know how she’s feeling even when she tries to shut you out, so when the time came in which you began to plan, envision, and execute a future with her with the possibility of children she was roarin’ and ready to go. Topics like these are oddly comforting to Waauru due to the love she has with her own family and with you as her partner the conversation most definitely came up even before you were to meet her family.
The idea of starting/continuing her family’s legacy with you fills Waauru’s heart with so much joy. She loves you so much and the fact that you’re in her life simply astounds her. Waauru never thought she could reach this level of serendipity and sereneness in her life after everything she’s been through. Most of her amazement comes from the fact that she is inspired by you and all that you were capable of doing despite being thrown in the thick of a political discourse and was the tipping point in bringing it all of it to a climax. Now she gets to do life with you as you both prepare for the latest addition.
Halle:
*ERROR 404 HALLE’S FUNCTIONING BRAINCELLS COULD NOT BE FOUND*
Oh boy, you did it, you broke the man. Only the heavens know how much was taken out of him to even talk to you in a full sentence, he still doesn’t know how he’s in a relationship with you, and now you want a F a M i L y!!! He’s gonna need a minute...no really. The request will catch him so off guard that he might need a moment alone to himself and his thoughts and in all honesty it might bother him slightly that you asked this of him. This will, of course, lead you to ask why to which he responds : “Well aren’t ‘we’ enough, why do you want to bring another being into our dynamic?!?!” With that he’ll storm off leaving you confused and a little hurt, but for know you drop the topic and just let him reconvene with himself. In his moments alone he sighs and thinks to himself: “...why did I say that?...you know thats not true Halle...?” Deep down, yes, yes he does want a family to call his and he couldn’t imagine doing so than with you; now he’s left rattling his brain trying to figure out what could’ve caused such a reaction...fear
After several hours of processing and coming to terms with himself, Halle comes back to you. Bright red face with so much embarrassment over his behavior with you, apologizing profusely for walking out on you. In these cases just hold his face, look him in the eyes, center him, ground him, and sit him down. When his able to breath at a steady pace again, expect the flood gates of emotion to open. He very rarely opens up but when he does it’s to you and only you. The main thing he focusses on though is this feeling of fear in the back of his mind much like Cipactli, only difference is that his is rooted in his own self conscious view of himself. Remind him how great of a friend, partner, lover, and man he is; remind him that what you asked doesn’t have to be done now, it is a very big step and something you can both talk and prepare for. This eases him, you both want this, just not right now and that is perfectly fine with both of you. Whenever you’re both ready he will be the proudest man in all of Saiph with you and your family by his side.
Taqtu:
*Queue the water works 🥺*
This man will be ✨E M O T I O N A L ✨Let him get it out, crying will ensue, but don’t worry these are happy tears. Taqtu has always been a family man, whether its been with his own family or his people in general; he considers the people he grew up with, raised him, played with him, babysat him, the children in his clan that came after him, all of them he considers family so it’s safe to say that when you brought this desire to his attention he was so excited.” WAIT?!?! REALLY?!?! Your not yanking my chain are ya...wait...really, you meant it? Oh Sweetpea, you’ve made me the happiest man”. He didn’t think it was possible to fall more in love with you, but here he is, head over heels (SIMP)
The other thing that has him all giddy is that he also gets to tell his tribe about this newfound journey you both are to take. The Ijiraat as a whole have suffered so much loss that whenever there is a new addition its a full on celebration. When you and Taqtu decided to begin your relationship, the whole tribe threw you both a party celebrating you as one of their own. The news of starting a family won’t be any less of a celebration, if anything it will be even more so. It’s a new chapter in both of your lives that might spring forth a new life. It has been one of his unspoken dreams to start a family of his own one day and finally being able to do so with the love of his life by his side elates him. Taqtu does not know what he did to deserve you, but he thanks every star in the sky for that fateful day he ran into you in the streets of Huatzintepec.
Seneca:
Seneca, like Halle, will be freaking out about it as soon as the suggestion leaves your lips; most of his reasoning being out of insecurities as well. However, unlike Halle, the main reason for his objection is because in reality he never knew what family was. How can a man who grew up without family be able to take care of a family of his own. Seneca does not expect you to do all the work in creating and raising this family by yourself, he wouldn’t allow it. Even so, he couldn’t see himself playing any significant part in the family dynamic that you so desire to have with him.
The idea of a family seems really nice to Seneca, poetic even, something he has probably talked about and studied as a disciple of the Sun god. It is a concept that is hard to grasp when the closest thing he has had to family is you. He, like Dior also, will take allot of: time love, and most definitely patience in order to even begin processing what you’ve asked. It is advisable in these instances to let him know that you understand where he comes from and that there is absolutely no rush for him to decide on this. In reality, family is more of a wound to him than something to look forward to, which is something that he is able to comfortably disclose to you after giving some thought to your request. Seneca follows by later stating: “...wounds are meant to heal, not fester. And if you will continue to have me and love me, the wound will heal...when that day comes I will be more than willing to create the most beautiful life that you deserve my sunshine...” (I’m NOT crying, you are).
Whether you both decide to have or adopt your new member of your family, on that day Seneca will learn what it means when people say love at first sight is real. One look at your child and his heart soars. He is grateful for the time that you gave him; it allowed him to heal so that way he could stop bleeding on the people that never hurt him, and with his new future with you he is certain that your family will only grow in love.

aaaa pls tell me stuff abt your ocs they're all so cool!! 🥺💚
Omg I finally finished answering this!!!!! 👀👀
Farcry 5: Zoë Seed!!
Omg that’s me 😏 she was an entomologist checking out the cool insects of Hope county and unfortunately for her she doesn’t believe in private property when it comes to discovering nature. One day chosen find her trespassing on John seeds property. They think she’s a spy for the resistance as she has a camera, binoculars etc. They take her to the main church (conveniently was a Sunday) once service is over shes handed over to the father and himself and John go through her camera. They only find insect pictures and omg wow she’s not a spy. She’s indoctrinated into the cult and ends up eventually becoming John’s right hand of god 😌🙏 sinners who happen to be an extra annoyance go to her where she makes them confess in whatever way possible. Or they die in the process, whoops 💅🏻 She’s polyamorous with all of the seed siblings including Faith cos like come on now let’s be real they all crave and need loving. However she’s married to John Seed because that baby boy is everything 😤❤️ She also likes to do cult posters and help write songs and sing them cos it’s fun as hell. She is closest with John and Faith Seed specifically out of the 4 Seeds. Other cultists are scared of her, or is it respect? Hmm who knows 😌 She also tortures sinners for fun and chases them around the forest making them as shit scared as possible. Oops 😏
The Magnus Archives: is my oc who is an Avatar of the eye and Rayn Porter is my oc who a avatar of the corruption. They both have the same last name as they are both the same person just if they had gone down different entity routes in their life. I’ll talk about Rose first! (I also have an avatar of the flesh and the vast but I haven’t worked on them yet or got them ‘fully fleshed out’ 😏
Rose Porter: avatar of the Eye, marked by the stranger, the spiral and the vast.
From an early age Rose always felt the need to watch people, to know, to understand. As she got older these feelings only became stronger and she begins to stalk people, not because she finds that person special for any particular reason they just happened to look to long at her and she saw them doing so. That just sets something off In her so now they must be followed, acknowledged, understood and scrutinised (me self projecting right into my ocs 😌). She found the Magnus institute one day as she started stalking Rosie. when she had seen the woman walking into a large glorious building she knew something was off, like the itching feeling you get, the feeling in your gut, the sensation of something important. She did not know what had over come her to walk in the building so quickly as that would ruin her chances of learning further about this person who dared make her feel so uncomfortable. But there she was. She was hired immediately of course as a librarian, then moving on the be an archival assistant, shocking to her. But obviously not to Elias Bouchard who knew just how useful her alignment to his almighty beholder. To say she had a crush on him would be an understatement. She can’t explain it. Some would call infatuation, some would call it chemistry, but smart ones say it’s because they are both devotees to the eye and she is in so much deeper than she has ever anticipated or even realises 👀
Rayn Porter: avatar of the corruption, marked by the flesh, the lonely and the stranger.
Rayn despises people (same queen 🙄) they put animals on a higher level of respect than humans. The corruption took ahold of them as a young child, they would always follow and play with cockroaches as a child. However their mother was to say the least an unempathetic, transphobic and cruel woman to say the least. Rayn was raised in a household full of scrutiny, hate and fear. Because of this had very little friends as the only social interaction they knew was their bitch ass mother they turned to the ‘pests’ of their home. Whether these were the slugs and snails in the basement of their home, or they were the cockroaches, house centipedes and rats that dwelled in their attic. They loved and appreciated them all, but their was still something deeper to it. A deep rot had started to form in Rayn and they hated their mother and family. They hated them for how they had cast them aside for not being female, they hated them for all the mistreatment they had faced as a child. The rot started small, a odd old smell that started to lurk around Rayn. Eventually others would notice the smell but would shrug it off as the smell would soon be covered by the smell of Rayns chain smoking. Then one day Rayn was staring in mirror poking at their face and squeezing. They found a sore on her face and squeezed it, pus comes out but something moves underneath. They squeeze harder and something wriggles forth, it’s a very small, juvenile cockroach, streaked slightly in something slimey. As you can imagine that fucked them up a bit, but they learnt to embrace it. Learnt to love that crawling away just underneath their skin are thousands of little legs connected to cockroach’s of many sizes. Sometimes if not managed roaches will find themselves sneaking out of nostrils, mouth and ears. Sometimes even out from behind her eyes. One way they feed the corruption is they set forth the filth at a selected location. All it takes is for them to place a cockroach down in a building and within a week there will be a infestation so strong causing the people in said building to be taken down with it. The Cockroaches will feed on those that they can over power and The Corruption always needs feeding... (Also just want to add cockroaches themselves aren’t actually dirty, they’re actually obsessive cleaners. the locations they live in are dirty)
Telltale Batman- Roz Traegers:
first encounter with John Doe (the eventually to be known Joker) was at the bar he frequented. They had never once seen him drink a drop of alcohol. He would order beer constantly for his alcoholic sure but never consume it himself. Aside from his alabaster white skin nothing about him seemed out of the ordinary to them. Well except the fact he liked to stare, a lot. You would constantly worry it’s because he was just judging you based on your appearance (a lot of people do) however John just likes to stare at people and found you interesting for some reason (cliches I know, but me and John Doe are basically the same person and I like to think he’d think I’m interesting). Roz has a great dislike towards the people John works with, they don’t appreciate how badly they treat him. Especially Harley. John is so obsessed with Harley and she treats him like absolute shit. Roz had a plan to get Harley arrested, however John found out and threatened to never speak to Roz again. Roz has a soft spot for Mr Freeze specifically from the gang also.
Vampyr: Rose Pine
works as an assistant to Camellia at the florist. Rose isn’t a very chatty person and has had quite a traumatic up bringing. Her mother, sister and father are all unfortunately deceased. Her father killed her mother, then sister, then Rose, then turned the knife on himself. Rose survived her injuries (hence the scar on her throat) and was put out into the adoption system. Roses father believed he had been doing his family a service by taking their lives before they could be claimed by Ekons. Roses father had been a vampire believer long before they had even breeched the city. Rose always waves hello to Jonathan Reid when she sees him galavanting around. He always waves back and occasionally they will exchange a conversation. One evening they exchange more than just brief chit chat when Jonathan is required to save her from a group of feral Skals. Rose is very badly injured from her encounter and Jonathan ends up having to change the sweet little florist he sees most evenings into a Ekon. Rose is also good friends with Charlotte Ashbury and Charlottes mother Elisabeth. I haven’t played Vampyr in a wee while, I want to get back into it soon so plan on adding more to her story.
Outlast: Rosie Porter
Rosie worked as a live in psychiatrist for those at mount massive asylum. She lives on the premises that way patient can be attended to at any time. Her experiences throughout life gives her empathy for those that are locked up, that the other guards and majority of other staff just don’t have. Rosie has always been able to empathise with those who would be considered ‘evil’ whether she empathised out of her own sick fascination or because of her heart hurting too much is another question. Rosies favourite patients are Eddie Gluskin and Chris Walker. She was hired after Jeremy Blaire forcibly admitted Chris Walker. Rosie is enamoured with Eddie and he knows it. Knows he has his little psychologist wrapped around his finger. However Eddie would be a hypocrite if he said he also wasn’t wrapped around her finger. Rosie is forcibly committed to the asylum by Jeremy Blaire they start Project Walrider on the patients. Rosie was against it and threatened to blow the whistle on the whole thing (dumb idea) and Jeremy uses her as the first female Walrider test subject. Rosie has engaged in an affair with her boss Jeremy Blaire when she first started working there. Due to their past ‘hands on’ relationship, Rosie is allowed more time with her patients and allowed to be alone with her patients. This has allowed for her to further her work with her patients, as they’re quite open when the know they aren’t being openly judged by the security staff.
Hannibal: Jessi Trees
is a forensic entomologist who works alongside Beverly, Jimmy and Brian analysing dead people n shit. Jessi first met Will Graham on the scene of a crime when they had both been called out. It was the mushroom killer from memory as the soil was packed with invertebrates filled with evidence. Will has just finished doing his whole ‘this is my design’ when Jessi walks up to him and stands quietly beside him, where they say: “These fuckers are filled with worms and I don’t know shit about worms” Will Graham turns and looks at them like what the fuck? Those are dead people. Jessi merely shrugs, smirks and walks off. Jessi can be described by a lot of people as ‘a cold person’ or ‘indifferent’ but passionate. They dehumanise the corpses they’re working with at that’s the only way they can get justice for them. If they get too caught up in all the sadness of it, they can’t move forward from it. Jessi has a crush on Will Graham and Beverly Katz. Jessi questions Will and Hannibals relationship quietly from the background but never really comments.
Bonus character!! Stardew Valley: Zoë
This bad ass came all the way from Zuzu city in need of a better and different life. They inherit their grandfathers old farm and get it up and running. The town is filled with wonderful, amazing people. But of course Zoë has to want to become close friends with the person who hates me everyone: Shane (they’re kindred spirits, Shane isn’t aware of this however because he seems to think he’s the only person who can suffer from substance abuse and sever depression haha.) Shane hates them of course until they keep harassing him and he reasilizes she’s a lot more screwed up than he was aware. Zoë is close friends with Shane (ends up marrying him one day), Linus (I would fucking die for him and anyone who’s cruel to him gets my foot in the butthole), Leah (they hang out frequently and like to paint in the forest together), Emily (I have a massive crush on Emily haha, she’s so similar to me it’s great), is also friends with Sam’s dad and Jodis husband Kent (Kent suffers from PTSD and I’ve developed a lot of my own techniques to help with my own PTSD so we help each other out. Also Jodi I’m stealing your husband, just kidding, unless). Zoë’s favourite animals on her farm are her blue chickens (raised by Shane) and her horse Aaron. Zoë’s favourite yearly event is the moonlight jellies festival!

My first 1.5 months as a school counselor
Wow, what an amazing first several weeks it's been.
But before I get into it…
I received my NYS school counselor certification in May 2017. In March, I compiled an extensive list of over a hundred schools. I started to cold call them, briefly introducing myself, and asking if they had or were expecting any vacancies for a school counseling position. I knew that the NYC DOE (Department of Education) was not hiring school counselors due to a hiring freeze, but I still went for it. And as expected, I heard barely anything back except from a couple principals who let me know they would keep my resumé on file.
I continued this for the next couple years. I cold called, I found out which DOE schools had vacancies from current employees, emailed schools my resumé and cover letters, which, by the way, took a long time to tailor to each school's job requirements and mission/vision, and applied to all charter, private, and independent schools as vacancies opened up (which were not many). During this time, I worked on and off as a private tutor, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), after school teacher, and a HR/CSR Representative at a homecare agency.
In August of 2019, I interviewed with an insurance company. I went through three 1-hour interviews that all went well, and I had a feeling that I would be offered a position.
At the same time, I had an interview with a public specialized high school in the city for a school counselor position. At the interview, the assistant principal repeatedly told me how much their school needed someone like me, and how despite the hiring freeze, she will try to figure out how to find a spot for me there. Wait. Did I just get an informal offer??
I received a call from the insurance company, and was offered a job, and about 15k more than my position at the homecare agency (my latest salary position). It was a big improvement in salary, the work would teach me some "real world" professional business things, and the team supervisor seemed to be an understanding and kind person. But, I wanted the school counselor position. It had been two weeks, however, and I had not heard back from the school. The insurance company gave me a couple days as a deadline to accept or decline, and I felt extremely stressed out.
Do I accept the insurance job, tell them I can start in two weeks, and wait for the school's response? Will the insurance company give me two weeks before I start? What if I start, and the school asks me to come in again for a 2nd round interview? How can I take time off when I've just started working? Do I decline the offer, and risk not getting the school position either?
So many thoughts and options flooded my mind, and I felt overwhelmed.
As I knelt down and prayed, I simply kept telling God I wanted to fully trust in Him and believe that He will provide the perfect job for me. I admitted that I had no idea what to do. During these few hard days, a good friend reminded me not to settle for less when God is capable of giving me the best.
On the day of the deadline, as I prayed about what I should do, I felt strongly that God was telling me to decline the offer, and I sobbed because I was afraid. But, at the same time, I felt peace in my heart. I emailed a declination letter, thanking them for offering such an amazing opportunity.
The next day, I received an email from the high school.
She wrote that I interviewed well, but would not be offering a second interview.
My heart sank.
I sat in the car with the same friend who had encouraged me not to settle. As I told him the news, I cried. I went home that night, and cried some more as I prayed.
The next day, my heart was filled with peace. I knew that I had made the right choice.
10 days later, I had a phone interview with an elementary school in the South Bronx. The interview went really well, but I didn’t think much of it because of all the past rejections and also because I wasn’t all that excited to work in the Bronx.
Soon after, I was invited to an on-site interview where I would have to deliver a demo lesson. I adapted a lesson plan I had already created for a prior interview, and didn’t even take time to test out my demo.
On the morning of the interview, I complained to my mom that I didn’t want to go, and debated whether I should turn down the interview last minute.
On the train, I realized I hadn’t prepared one of the materials for the lesson plan. I took out a big pair of scissors and started to cut away, shoving paper scraps into my bag.
After I got off the train, I rushed because I was going to make it just on time, and not the recommended 15 minutes earlier. When I made it to the door, the security guard asked me to wait because they were having a fire drill. As I waited for about five minutes, I was able to catch my breath and observe the school students and staff as they filed past me.
As I sat inside, waiting for my interviewers, I realized I had not prepared any end of the interview questions. Wow, I was not prepared for this interview - my heart wasn’t fully in it.
Perhaps because I wasn’t so nervous, I was able to be myself during the demo lesson despite there being a student on the spectrum who refused to follow directions and do my lesson plan activity. I handled the situation as best as I can (good thing I have experience as an RBT!). I passed the demo lesson with flying colors. The three interviewers took turns praising me for what I did well, and not one said anything negative. I was smiling from ear to ear, and just kept saying “Aww, thank you so much.” After answering a bunch of questions, I was given papers to fill out. Then, the HR director told me that the principal wanted to meet me. I was taken aback at how quickly this seemed to be progressing.
As I left the principal’s office, she suddenly stopped me and asked me to go with her to another office, where she introduced me to a few people.
I left thinking that I might have a really good shot this time.
Two days later, after two and a half years of rejections and tears (and a lot of growth, too!), I finally heard the words I’d been dreaming of.
I texted every family member and friend who had supported, encouraged, and motivated me during this time. How grateful I was to God not only for the job, but also because I had so many people to share my joy with.
The job that I have right now was prepared for me well in advance, before I even got certified. God spent more than two and a half years molding me and disciplining me to fit right in and serve where God has been working. After six full weeks. I have not a single negative thing to say about my job. I love my students. I love the staff members I work with. I love the 4 hour round trip commute. I am also great at what I do not because of anything I can do or who I am, but because God has been preparing me all these years to know what words to use, how to react to certain things, how to work with certain students and parents, how to deal with students with disabilities, etc. (I worked as a private tutor, Sunday School teacher, summer school teacher, after school teacher, day care teacher, RBT, etc. for 10 plus years.)
There is simply so much grace poured upon me in every single counseling session, every situation that I’m involved in at work, and meetings with parents. For example, one student who has not opened up to any adult in the building can’t stop talking when he’s with me, and he even frolics into my office to say hi. Another example is that the students who staff members have much difficulty handling (and have to call in the parents) do an exceptional job when they’re in my counseling groups. Every single parent who I have called so far in order to get consent for me to see their child (due to at-risk behaviors or simply needing a little extra support) has given me permission despite some of them not having given permission in the past to other counselors.
This is amazing grace.
This is my faithful and good good God pouring His love onto me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, God!!!
And this is just the beginning. I’m so excited for the things to come - to continue to see what God is doing in my life, and in the lives of those around me.

A Close Look At Hiring Security Companies In The Uk
If you're considering hiring security companies inside london however they are unsure if it's the best decision for you and the business, then you should keep on reading. Most people work with a security company for the obvious reason, which is to provide security for the business, employees and customers. However, there are lots of more benefits of hiring one of these simple companies and we'll now have a look at a number of them.
The first benefit is the fact a security alarm company will offer you protection as actual guards, which adds a human element to your security. Most people and businesses assume that having videos cameras, surveillance and alarms is sufficient but that may be not. Remember, these devices don't have a mind of their own unlike a human security officer and will only do whatever they were made or developed to do. Consequently these units are predictable as well as smart burglar or some other security threat can outsmart them. It is much simpler to outsmart a device than to outsmart a human security guard who are able to react in different and unpredictable ways to be able to intercept the threat. Additionally, a camera could only record precisely what is happening plus it can't do anything whatsoever about it, unlike a true security guard.
An additional benefit of obtaining security officers at your enterprise is that they can help with keeping order, peace and aid the prevention of any problems that stem out of your own employees. While you possibly will not want to assume that your workers can be a potential threat, the reality is, it is a possibility. So, by getting real security officers on your own premises, it might prevent one of your employees from acting in threatening ways or other negative and unwanted behaviours. Also, the mere presence of the guards will guarantee that all of your current employees follow the rules and policies in the workplace. In case a protest or strike occurs, then you'll be delighted to curently have a security alarm team on the webpage to cope with it and be sure peace and order is maintained.
Thirdly, security officers can offer much not just security because they are typically taught to be first responders in the event of a natural disaster or maybe someone is having a health crisis. So, if there is an earthquake, fire, storm etc, the safety guards may help your staff and customers to safety and also provide any emergency medical aid like CPR until an ambulance arrives.
As you have seen, there are numerous great things about hiring security companies in the uk. However, choosing one can be difficult and you should never just go with a security company randomly. It is advisable to require references, look at past client satisfaction, look at the kind of training the security guards have etc. It may be best to have a trial period so that you can decide if you're happy with the business and wish to extend the contract.
To wrap things up, these are just a couple of benefits associated with employing a security company as well as easy methods to choose one. Be sure to do your research as well as request feedback through your employees and customers with regards to their performance. This data plus your own observation needs to be more than sufficient to locate a great security company that will serve your company well.

Introduction Ready-made-garment export is the lifeline of the Bangladesh economy. According to the last report Bangladesh has earned more than 83 percent of its export earnings from this sector (Nikkei Asian Review, 2018) where the total RMG export in the last fiscal year 2017-18 was US$33.93 billion (BGMEA, 2019). How much of this huge export is accounted for our own benefit? Is the textile and garment industry safe and sustainable for the local professionals? The industry has its own way to find solutions through different stakeholders- buyers, factory owners, governments, NGOs, buying offices, human right activists, local government, etc. Let us see the types of workforce we have in the garment industry, the evolution of the availability of skilled workforce, building capacity for the future workforce, expats working in Bangladesh, and our responsibility to leverage own hard work and intelligence to retain our hard-earned foreign currency in our own country. Workforce in Bangladesh garment industry If we divide the workforce in the garment industry then there are broadly four categories: Garment workers including supervisors, line-chiefs, QCs, helpers, etc. Sub-sector workers Support staffs, including clerks, peons, chefs, guards, etc. and Professionals- CEO, Executive Directors, GMs, Managers, Merchandisers, QA, and Inspectors, The latter workforce is the intelligence of our garment industry. They are the brains for the industry who really run the show by means of managing, operating, giving technical support, and marketing the factory products. There is a government concern about increasing the wages of workers, government employees etc. but this group is the most hard-working people in the country for them there is no wage board, no government intervention on illegal employment of foreign expats, no legal retirement benefits, no medical benefit, etc. Self-reliance in the technical and managerial workforce When the textile and garments industry started in the late ‘70s, it was the Japanese and Koreans who brought those orders and tried to find local partners to make the shipment. In the ’80s, quota benefit attracted investors from all around the world and they hired professionals from their own country as well as from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines. The ’90s was the era for mushrooming of knit composite factories because of comparatively lower initial investment cost and a handful of local textile engineers dared to run them. This industry showed us that we could run the factories with our own capabilities. After 2000, it is probably the golden decade for Bangladesh textile and garments industry amid negative speculations of post MFA era, when local professionals started to replace those foreign nationals in managerial positions, maintaining the export growth, graduates from local textile and fashion universities take up the communications quite strongly, worked out the chemical threats and child labor issues. Just when it looked like Bangladesh is all set to become next RMG sourcing hotspot by securing 2nd largest apparel exporter ‘Tazreen Fashions Fire’ and Rana Plaza Collapse’ brought a big question mark on country’s safe handling of the work environment. In the last 5 years, Bangladesh textile and garments industry has done well with Accord and Alliance for a rapid improvement in that area. Building capacity in the workforce Bangladesh has signed the MDG and SDG where it will give a mammoth growth in our economy by achieving those targets by 2030 (SDG, 2017). This target was set mainly based on our ability to achieve US$50 billion export target from RMG by 2021 (Textile Today, 2018). To maintain this growth, we need to increase our export quantity by increasing productivity or doing more value-added products or increasing the number of factories as well as a number of workers and professionals in textile and garments industry. Recently, the government has taken steps to enhance the quality of our professionals by arranging free training for them (Islam and Islam, 2018). We also need lots of vocational, TVET institutes for technical professionals, and make as much space in the industry for managerial professionals. It is obvious that the local professionals alone are capable of running the whole textile and apparel industry. It is a matter of sorrow that there are still many factories who hire foreign nationals in key positions. What is the number of expats? According to The Daily Star dated December 31, 2016, the number of foreign employees working in the RGM sector is about 200,000 (Two Lakhs). In the year 2014, they draw nearly US$5 billion as salary and allowances. From September 2009 to September 2019, a total of 7,030 work permits were issued. In 2014, The Board of Investment (BOI) issued 3,511 extensions and in 2013, it was 2,907. From this data, it is quite evident that most of the foreign nationals working in this country are under illegal contract and residing without valid documents violating the immigration rule of an independent country. New Age (2018) in one of their recent issues has claimed that more than 5 lakh foreign nationals are working in Bangladesh and the same amount as reported by The Daly Star in 2015 is draining the hard earned foreign currency out of the Country. The sectors include apparel, textile, buying house, telecommunication, information technology, poultry, and poultry feed sector. Bangladesh Garment Manufacturer Association (BGMEA) after enquired 5,000 of its member factories to submit a report of a number of foreign employees they have. Only 233 of those member factories replied out of those 5,000 factories. As a matter of fact, most of those expats do not have a legal work permit and this is the reason factories cannot report them to BGMEA. Foreigners and expats mainly come from India, Sri Lanka, China, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, and some European and African Countries as per security and immigration sources. Indian publication, Daily Industry (2018), in their report showed that Bangladesh has become 4th largest remittance source for India with US$10 billion in 2017. They also reported that about 1 million Indian workers working in Bangladesh, mostly, through illegal channels. As per Reserve Bank of India, this amount is deposited in different Indian banks with the declaration. The actual value through non-declaration could be even higher. Though Bangladeshi E-paper, Daily Sun (2018), has claimed it to be false news and further claimed that Bangladesh earns 35 times that of India earns from us. Such contradictory reports reflect our level of patriotism towards solving the drainage from remittance outflow. Threat from foreign professionals A Study carried out by Islam et. Al (2017) for Center of Excellence for Bangladesh Apparel Industry (CEBAI) revealed that expats have specialized skills in communication, negotiation, leadership, decision-making, and operational skill and are reported to be paid two to five times higher than the local professionals. Categorically, we cannot say that professionals working in our textile and RMG industry are facing tough competition from foreign nationals. It is because most of our local professionals are nowadays highly educated, experienced, and gained industry exposure to run by themselves. Then why are we nourishing such highly paid foreign nationals against our national interest? For decades, our textile and RMG factory owners believed that foreign experts are more skilled and there are a few still believe the same way. Firstly, it is not uncommon not to get the best result with some specific local professional but from here making a generalization would be a fallacy. Read More: Is the foreign expert more capable than locals? Secondly, it is also a part of some bad politics. There are lots of liaison offices working in Bangladesh. Many of those offices, mostly US-based, controlled by their regional office located in our neighboring country. In those offices, the decision-making employees are foreign national from a neighboring country. The factory people doing marketing is also from that country. Even many professionals and technicians of that factory are also from that foreign country. It is like making of a little cantonment or a gang of foreigners in those buying office and factories whereas the same responsibilities (may not be the purpose) can be served by local professionals at a low cost. The reason I mentioned purpose because social and cultural aspects should not be a bar in international business which is greatly driven by technical knowledge and most of the people nowadays understand the English language. The possibility of unethical trading as a team cannot be denied too. Lastly, many of the owners are accused of money laundering by using their highly paid foreign employees as a medium for transferring money to other countries. Most of these foreign professionals working in this textile and RMG industries do not have a valid work permit. Most of those come to Bangladesh in tourist visas and extend their visa by liaising with immigration officials. There are lots of talk about this but no action had been taken about this very simple legal matter. Bangladesh has been a target of terrorist attacks and it is not unlikely that there are foreign agents dwelling in Bangladesh in the guise of a garment expert. Most of the foreign offices employ Country Managers preferred to be non-Bangladeshi. The government must check their skill, experience and managerial capacity in order to give them work permit with a valid reason for working in Bangladesh. One of the reasons buyers need them is to screw prices, put penalties and recover claims. Whereas, in such position, a local national would perform much better at a reasonable price to get the right quality for on-time shipment. Understanding the local culture is very important for the Country Managers. If you talk to any of them working here for more than 10 years will speak very badly about our working condition, delivery, on the other hand, push us to be 10 cents cheaper than last season. This whole thing is not only relegating our good name in the international market but also the country is renounced from foreign currency. Most ridiculous thing is that you got to ask this question when, why and where we do need a foreign expert. It is not only the case that they are working as Country Managers or General Managers. They are working massively in woven mills and we should admit that we might still have some lacking in that area, especially in dyeing and finishing. But you will find them working in laboratories, R&D, warping, sizing, and looming, etc. areas too. Though Bangladesh is a forerunner in knit composite but yet you will find foreign professionals in knitting, dyeing, finishing and even in cutting, pattern making, sample making, quality control, fashion design, washing plants, accessories factories, fabric marketing, yarn marketing, etc. However, I must not admit that there are a few advantages of hiring foreign professionals. They work hard because they do not have any social works here. They do not leave the job in short notice. An office with foreign staffs gives customers the feeling of visiting in a multi-national corporation. And of course, individuals have their own personal charisma which makes them different from others. Recommendations It is very easy to leave some recommendations to improve the present scenario. Ironically, everybody understands the fact but do not take any actions about it. Firstly, we have the correct data. The Ministry of Labor and Employment does not have any data related to the actual number of foreign employees working in our country. According to various reports, it could be higher than a staggering 1 million foreign workers and from valid sources, it is half a million workers. We need the actual count in order to control it. Secondly, MNCs often assign expatriate to facilitate knowledge transfer and enhance foreign direct investment purpose. Here is this case, we need to check the capability of the foreign expats working here to teach our technicians, managers. In case, they are here only to learn we are making big accounting mistake by assuming them as FDI. Thirdly, according to the Income Tax Ordinance 1984, tax officials can impose a penalty on companies up to 50 percent of their total payable income tax, or BDT 5 lakh, and deny all other tax benefits as a fine for hiring unauthorized foreigners. It is now up to the integrity of the tax department to investigate those or they keep quiet of being allured with greater personal benefits. There are also a few other recommendations which are the key topic for today’s discussion. That is, how to make our textile and RMG industry safe and sustainable for Bangladeshi professionals. Many of our textile and garment owners complain about the poor knowledge and English literacy of our local professionals. It is very common that academic knowledge, experience, and English as communication will not be the same for everybody. In general, the expats working in our industry has on an average better English. This does not mean that there is no local professional who speaks better English than expats. Nowadays, there are young breeds from public and private universities educated in textile engineering, fashion design, business administration, physical science, applied arts, and many of them having a foreign degree from renowned universities. They could be a much better worker for now and for the future who can work for the company for the rest of his/ her life. There must be some professional institutes like there is for Doctors, Engineers, or even Lawyers where the professional institutes will be able to certify the employability, and also conduct technical and management workshop, a symposium to improve the skills and knowledge of local professionals. It is natural, in Bangladesh, to have good demand for technicians, managers, merchandisers, marketers, etc. However, we have complaints about them that they leave the job even with a small raise from other companies. One of the most popular theories on motivation was given by Frederick Herzberg (1959) which sets forth management theories for workers. He believed that workers are motivated anything other than money. Those are praise, responsibility, achievement, and advancement. Our industry owners are in fact lagging behind in their knowledge in management theories by believing in Taylor (1900) theory where money is the only motivator. Many of the factory owners are applying Herzberg theory in practices, and there are a lot of examples where the best performers in the industry are management hires young managers, gives them the responsibility, praise them while performing, rewards when achieves and promote them as advancement. In today’s world, everybody wants to have a young worker who is keen to learn. It is because of the change in technology, work processes, motivational factors, etc. As the phrase says, “unlearning is difficult than learning”, it is wise to recruit young staff who later is trained with various on the job training so as to capable of giving new knowledge for improving the work process. If we compare the compensation package between the expat and local professionals then there is a big difference. If the local professional is more qualified we still do not want to offer the same package that we offer to a foreign professional with more than US$10,000 as salary plus house rent US$2,000 plus airfare twice a year with family and profit bonus. How could we expect the same dedication from a local professional giving only a part of it and expecting he would sacrifice all his social and personal life? For real professional, they deliver results not his working hours like foreign professional work in Bangladesh. Next thing is that the factory owners must introduce pension and gratuity like other countries which are used as an effective tool against employee’s turnover. Richard Branson, one of today’s most illustrious and successful entrepreneur, quoted about employees, “Clients do not come first. Employees come first. You take care of your employees, they will take care of your clients”. References: BGMEA, 2019. “Total Export of Bangladesh”. The Importance of Speed while Hiring Frontline Workers
Frontline workers, or blue-collar workers as they are more popularly referred to as form the backbone of the Indian economy. Almost every industry - be it Healthcare, IT, FoodTech, Delivery/Logistics, Hospitality or Manufacturing provide employment to a staggering percentage of India’s population. As per an ET report, India has nearly 170 million people employed in skilled and semi-skilled blue-collar jobs. These jobs have a very high demand but hiring right and screening candidates remains slow, while attrition also makes the process slower.
According to a whitepaper published by Apna, approximately 12.5 crore jobs were lost in India as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of them were either completely laid off or had received severe pay cuts or no salaries for the majority of the year. More than 30 % of the job losses took place in major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Delhi. As a result, India saw an exodus of laborers migrating back to their home towns and villages from these larger cities. Those working in hospitality, salons, field sales, and back-office administration suffered the most layoffs, while there was a surge in last-mile delivery and logistics, frontline health workers, and allied technical categories.
As industries get a new lease of life, pan-India unlock guidelines unfold, and the fear of the pandemic subsides, it is imperative for companies to hire their frontline workforce. In order to ensure a speedy economic recovery for most industries, their hiring personnel must set the foundations strong. This implies that for a hotel to operate back at optimum efficiency, it must hire sizeable staff and train them in-time. Call centers must reopen with a substantial number of phone operators. Retail stores must have manned salespersons. Supply chain and logistics companies’ must hire an adequate number of delivery personnel. Construction companies must acquire carpenters, HVAC technicians, so on and so forth.
Industries that are leading the resurgence of blue-collar hiring is delivery segment, including food and grocery with demand returning back to 100% of the pre-COVID level. One of the key factors that can salvage several companies in industries that need blue-collar workers, is their talent acquisition, which needs to be fast but effective. Hire candidates in Bangalore, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur & Ranchi
Here are a few ways in which you can optimize your time and efforts and improve the speed at which you hire blue-collar workers:
1. Be clear on the job profile and pay scale
While most jobs in the blue-collar sector do tend to be vague, it would be extremely effective if hiring managers can nail down the key responsibilities and the average pay scale for each distinguished role, to set the right expectations from day zero.
2. Differentiate between skilled and unskilled laborers
While some jobs do not require specific skillsets such as that of a security guard or facility personnel; others like carpentry, painting, etc. do need relevant skillsets. In order to save time during on-job training, it is important for hiring managers to differentiate skilled and unskilled laborers and seek suitable candidates accordingly.
3. Narrow down platforms and vendors
Most blue-collar laborers thrive in communities and get their next gig via networks. In order for a hiring manager to acquire blue-collar laborers in bulk, and at record-time, it is important that they make a list of relevant portals, platforms, and vendors that can understand their needs, and fulfill them accordingly.
4. Harness the power of the internet
With the Jio phenomenon taking the country by storm, and increased digital literacy in semi-urban and rural areas, a lot of the daily wage and blue-collar laborers can be seen using the internet. This has given rise to several platforms that streamline opportunities for these workers and connect them with relevant employers. Apna, Aasaanjobs and Work India are few among the many that operate in this segment. Identify what works for you, and leverage it for results.
5. Create a pipeline to fight churn
Employee retention is a major concern, especially among blue-collar employees that jump ship for meager raises or other benefits. To mitigate the downsides of frequent employee churn, partner with platforms like Apna that helps you replace the workforce in record-time. Having a healthy pipeline of potential candidates to take the place of the current ones is important to ensure smooth business operations.
All in all, in order for your company to operate back at pre-COVID levels and even better, hiring plays a crucial role. In industries where most of the jobs are meant for blue-collar laborers, the challenge does not lie in quality but speed and efficiency. Unlike white-collar jobs, that need a curated approach and demand high cognitive aptitude and specific skill sets, blue-collar jobs require urgency. These are the jobs that lay the ground for any company upon which to stand tall. Hence, it is important to not just hire right but also hire fast.

INSIDER THREAT DETECTION: 05 SURESHOT WAYS THAT WORK!
Recall those days when we first heard about COVID-19. Did you ever imagine the quarantined lives we were heading to back then? I did not either. And yet, here we are, letting our staff commence their tasks from their bedrooms. But is it safe for your organization?
According to a report, the new employees in any corporation currently were the primary cause of security incidents about four years back. While you do your best to safeguard your data against IT security threats like malware and ransomware, you must never forget that some of the biggest threats to your business might be handling your company’s next big project.
You must learn to identify and eliminate such folks from your workspace before it’s too late- a process known as insider threat detection.
There are various ways to identify and track any employee who poses a risk to your organization and its data security. In this article, we are going to discuss some of the primary ways in which you can do it. But before we get into insider threat detection, let us discuss a bit about insider threats.
WHAT IS AN INSIDER THREAT?
An insider threat is any current or former employee who worked in your organization and has access to your profile’s systems & data and can use it to harm your company in any way.
Insider threats are of two types:
1. Accidental
2. Malicious
When we refer to insider threats, we are, most of the time, referring to the malicious ones. They are the employees/ ex-employees who commit data leaking and breaching on purpose. They tend to have personal intentions of sabotaging your infrastructure, stealing your intellectual property for personal gain, fraud, etc.
The accidental insiders, on the other hand, are the employees who unwillingly lead to malicious activities due to a lack of proper information and training regarding handling the company data. Cyber attackers such as hackers use various malware and phishing tools to trick such people into handing over your personal information without them even being aware of it.
Any organization must be capable of tracking both of these threats before they cause any significant damage. They are highly dangerous for your integrity, and it is why you need a protocol for insider threat detection among your staff. Let us get right into it.
BONUS-
WFH UPDATE: HOW REMOTE WORK CULTURE AFFECTS SENSITIVE SECTORS
BEST PRACTICES FOR INSIDER THREAT DETECTION
Every organization must implement specific policies and software on their premises and also among their remote workers to ensure discipline among all. Follow all the steps from the beginning to implement insider threat detection in the long run. Below, we have outlined 05 ways in which you can do it:
1. APPLY USER ACCESS MANAGEMENT
According to a survey, about 62% of employees say that they have access to the company information that they shouldn’t see. Limiting access to an organization’s data is very crucial in protecting company privacy, or else it would get really tricky to catch the culprit in cases of data breaching.
Prohibit the sharing of unnecessary documents among the staff from the different departments. Even if you allow sharing of the files, restrict allowing editing access to any employee unless deemed necessary.
For instance, it is okay if an employee shares articles and website links from the same company with their colleague, but they must not share the doc files that contain the content of these websites unless asked to do so.
2. PROVIDE SECURITY AWARENESS TRAINING
Insider threat detection, in most cases, concerns tracking the malicious staff who willingly pose a threat for all, but what about the accidental breachers?
You can, undoubtedly, catch them off guard as well, but the solution to accidental insider threats is not punishment but prevention. What you must strive to do is train your employees beforehand so that they don’t become a security risk later on.
Introduce various employee-friendly, easy to grasp IT security training. Teach your colleagues how cyber attackers target their emails and IPs, make them understand why they must never work in a public WiFi. Educate them about the remote access risks, the dangers of firmware security, how to identify and get rid of malware, adware, etc.
Also, keep in mind the shadow IT risks and the repercussions of not using VPNs while performing particular tasks.
The more your staff knows about cybersecurity and data management, the more they can identify, report, and avoid any abnormal or risky behavior prevailing online or among their fellow employees.
BTW,
ARE YOU FOLLOWING EMPLOYEE MONITORING ETHICS OR BUGGING YOUR STAFF?
3. MONITOR ABNORMAL BEHAVIOR
It doesn’t matter whatever you do- the truth is that you need to monitor everyone’s actions in order to maintain discipline and decorum among your workers.
Employee monitoring will only be fruitful when you decide to have a baseline of what is and isn’t abnormal behavior and stick to it. Observe, compare, and assess the actions of everyone- the usual working hours, the shared files, total working hours, etc.
The signs of abnormal behavior may include:
✔️ Transfering unauthorized files;
✔️ Installing suspicious and buggy applications;
✔️ Logging into the working devices at odd hours;
✔️ Copying info unrelated to their jobs;
✔️ Creating unauthorized accounts on platforms.
Look for any such behavior mentioned above, and intervene immediately to find out what they are up to before it’s too late. Deploy monitoring tools like EmpMonitor on your staff’s systems to keep a close eye on their movements without breaching their privacy.
4. STRICT RULES AND LEGAL ACTIONS
Making rules is not enough if you cannot maintain decorum on your premises. Make rules that abide by the laws and make sure you take necessary action against the people who violate it. It is plausible to warn your employees for the first time, in case their actions do not lead to gruesome results. But you must never consider an error if it causes significant harm to your company’s reputation or intellectual property.
Also, make sure you do not treat your old employees differently or consider their mistakes. Or else no one will take the policies seriously. When your staff is aware of such strict rules, they seldom cross the line, and thus, insider threat detection becomes more feasible.
5. DECREASE THE OPPORTUNITY OF THREAT
Because prevention is better than cure. Insider threat management is a plausible way of having control over your company’s data. Implement policies that suit the privacy of the employers as well as the employees and still allows them to access the necessary documents whenever required.
For instance, you can create separate official accounts for your staff on Email, Drive, Dropbox, Editing software, social media, etc. Restrict them from using any personal accounts on the system. This way, you can monitor their official IDs without breaching their data. It is a better way of insider threat detection because you can practically check everyone’s account and look for any suspicious activities.
PRO TIP: HEAVILY SCREEN THE NEW HIRES
A virtual hug for my folks who are still reading ahead! Here’s additional advice for you- monitor the screens of your new employees a bit more carefully. The chances of accidental information leakage are higher among the people who are new to any organization.
As a matter of fact, many employees are not at all aware of any online threats and tend to click on any link that they find enticing. Protect your systems from a malware attack by keeping a close eye on each and every staff- especially the newly hired ones.

Insider threat detection is an inevitable step that no organization can skip, especially when working with remote staff. It doesn’t matter how protected you keep your company’s data- you must always keep an eye on the potential threats lurking on your premises.
Train your IT employees in the best possible way to track and avoid any such mishaps and make sure that all the policies that you implement are truly securing your business.

About Hyundai keys and locks platform
Hyundai is South Korea's global well-known car manufacturer of prevailing motor vehicles and develop into being one of the widest South Korean car maker since 1946.
Hyundai started employing transponder chipped keys in 2007. Decrepit Hyundai chipped keys can be reproduced by an easy economical control panel duplication process.
Latest designs according to year and model switched the key-lock instrumentation to a ciphered transponder type of keys that need an exclusive key programmer and diagnostic machinery in order to copy an extraneous key.
Beginning at 2007, Some Hyundai designs employ push-start ignition and Proximity Key as either standard or optional instrument.
Ignition cylinder repair
By cause of locking and unlocking the ignition countless of times, it is very typical to withstand some type of ignition trouble and the symptom could be dash board security lights are on, ignition key is hard to turn, ignition key turn freely in the ignition and key caught in the ignition and you can't burst your car.
The reason for those troubles could be a worn key or an ignition lock complication and for the two scenarios, ignition replacement or repair is a task for a sharp ignition locksmith, so our recommendation to drivers not to try to repair the ignition lock by unskilled hands since it may going to lead to a fundamental damage.
Worn Hyundai ignition key
If the complication is a result of a bad key, basic duplication of the key going to likely copy the fault to the made key. Alternately to copying the bad key, an experienced vehicle key smith ought to use relevant Hyundai diagnostic tools, programmers and cutters to issue a fresh key in consonance with the vehicle ID number.
Damaged Hyundai ignition cylinder
If the complication is a result of the ignition lock, it could be due to the fact that dirt or obstacle sized in the ignition key-space or possibly a broken or loose axis or arbor inside the ignition cylinder barring the lock from turning around. Using relevant ignition repairing, programming and diagnostic devices a lockman will need to remove any dirt or obstacle from within the keyhole strengthen or alterate ignition cylinder or even outplace the whole ignition.
Transponder chipped key issue
A transponder key is basically antitheft device. With transponder key, hot wiring or lock picking a car is not going to be sufficient no more if someone thinking about stealing a vehicle.
The main idea behind an immobilized key and lock instrumentation is a microchip concealed commonly in the cork of the key, when a driver place a key in the ignition key-pit, the micro-chip send an exclusive ciphered signal to the car's computer. If the immobiliser doesn't detect an appropriate authorization code, the vehicle will not crank.
Although several years and models auto manufacturers offer dash-board console accoutrement to make an extraneous key on your own, vehicle key replacement, programming and repair evolved into being highly pricey then before and furthermore, if all keys are missing, the car computer has to be re-programmed by appropriate key programming machine owned by a locksmith or the dealer.
Hyundai proximity key
Key-less entry remotes, also called (RKS or RKE) let a user to unlock and lock their car or truck with the click of a button and furthermore other traits such as unlatching the trunk or kindling the beam light to boost visibility in inclement weather or at night. Also, a lot of the contemporary keys include remote starting feature which is becoming standard on modern vehicles.
Majority of smart-keys include a proximity-detector-based instrument that is triggered when the smart key found within a set range of the vehicle. This Smart key are hands-free which means that the car can be unlocked and locked or kindle and turn off the car without driver input.
Copy vs lost car keys
The days of outplacing a vehicle key by buying an inexpensive metal blade key blank and cut at the locksmith or a home depot store by the vehicle ID number are long gone. Exceedingly all modern cars supplied with immobiliser and transponder keys and furthermore smart keys and push-start ignition.
The keys accommodate an assembled chip which interacts with the ECU in the vehicle. If the vehicle ECM does not identify the key, the motor vehicle does not start.
This modern electric key-lock technology add supplementary convenience and security and turn out to be incredibly practical anti theft instrumentation, still cutting and programmig new keys if they get stolen or broken must be done by the dealership or a mobile locksmith with a distinct Hyundai diagnostic devices and key programmer and regularly can be pricey.
24 hr car lockout

Why Temporary Staffing is Here to Stay
More and more companies are relying on outsourcing or temporary hiring to supplement their regular staff. Most companies hire contractual personnel to fill the short-term requirements for qualified employees while retaining employee-related expenditures.
Temporary Staffing is not a modern-day phenomenon; it was quite prevalent in traditional time also but was not recognized well. Let’s understand the concept in a layman’s language. Assume how we used to get our house built/constructed. We either used to hire a contractor with whom we used to fix lump sum cost of fully built/constructed house or we used to arrange everything from labourers to concrete, bricks etc and used to micromanage their work. The second arrangement, used to be very tiring, time-consuming, requires a lot of efforts and pain whereas the first arrangement seems quite peaceful, tireless and effective. That’s how temporary staffing became the need for every organization.
Metaphorically, hiring of talent for a short term based assignment is termed as temporary staffing or contractual staffing. The temporary staffs provided by the outsourcing firms are recruited, screened, trained and are on their payrolls, then assigned to client organizations. The concept is gaining popularity in most of the new age firms for its numerous advantages.
Temporary recruitments reduce the liability for the organizations as such projects/contracts may not include all the perks for the temporary staff which the company may otherwise give to its permanent employees. Also as the temporary employees are not part of the permanent staff, they are less likely to be affected by office politics or management issues in the company.
Most companies hire contractual personnel to fill the short-term requirements for qualified employees while retaining employee-related expenditures. The short term assignments make the transition of the talent post the project hassle-free for the companies.
The major reasons that modern day organizations prefer outsourcing are mentioned below:
If they require a huge number of manpower for their business operations and recruiting them is difficult.
They want to concentrate on their core business and don’t want to keep them involved in non-productive activities.
Attrition is very high and backfilling is difficult.
Entry level or blue-collar staff is required in large numbers.
Do not want to involve their company into legal litigation.
Don’t want union formation.
Only want to keep skilled/trained/productive resources on their own payroll after observing their performance while keeping them through the contractor.
Nature of business is seasonal; hence require manpower during the seasonal time.
Flexibility in employment. Companies can reduce or increase their strength as per business requirement.
Employing someone on a temporary contract with a chance of renewal if they perform well can be a great motivating factor for the temporary staff to be more productive and prove themselves in the work. Also, the contractual employees give their best performance in their tenure in order to enhance their reputation with the parent company. Thus they try to put the “best foot forward” to achieve targets and impress the employer with quality work.
The companies after evaluating the employee’s performance can establish whether or not he/she is suitable for the full time or on-going position. Entrepreneurs who choose the option of outsourcing have greater chances of hiring value employees. Thereby saving time and efforts on recruiting and training of the new joiners.
More and more companies are relying on outsourcing or temporary hiring to supplement their regular staff. There are different types of outsourcing prevalent in the market, some are discussed below:
Functional outsourcing: like company accounts and its management outsourced to an Accounting Firm. Tele-calling function outsourced to BPO etc.
Project outsourcing: generally happens in IT, large real estate and infrastructure development industry. If a company wants to develop software for its business operation, then an IT firm develops that software in the client’s premises through their resources is an example of Project outsourcing. IT outsourcing is a type of professional outsourcing for the technology-related work which can be used for a wide range of function like the development of infrastructure, IT management, software maintenance and support and so on.
Need-based outsourcing: like security guards, PSO’s, housekeeping managements etc.
Offshore outsourcing: implies having outsourced business operations done in another country. With the advent of future internet and globalization, offshore outsourcing is a smart business strategy to explore new markets.
Different companies opt for outsourcing for varied reasons like minimizing expenses, skilled employees, and timely completion of projects and so on. The concept of temporary staffing is here to stay and provide solutions tailored to the company’s requirements.
Herein, temporary staffing agencies like KVB Staffing Solutions can come to your requirement by facilitating temporary staffing when candidates aren't to be hired on a full-time basis. Get ready to build staff strength without going through the cumbersome processes of hiring full-time employees.

Reflection: Google Lab Case Study
This week there was no case reading to prepare with, so going into the study I had no idea what was going to be expected of us.
Question:
It was said that we were a security engineer at Google. Google are setting up a new research lab near UNSW for a new secret Google project. You have been asked to design the physical site security, listing both the main things to protect for the new office, as well as the three key features of the security design (ranked and justified).
Individual Work:
Rather than getting into small groups to begin discussing this problem, we were instead told to attempt the problem individually for 20 minutes.
A tip given when attempting these ‘threat modelling’ style questions is to work through them using the following strategy:
1. Assets: What you are trying to protect and what do you care about.
2. Vulnerabilities: How could these assets be lost, stolen or damaged?
3. Remediation: How you will prevent this from happening.
Using this above strategy, I first begun by outlining the main assets to be protected (and ranking them to make it easier to determine my order of recommendations later on):
- The safety of the people working within the building
- Any information about the project, including documents and other files (to avoid other companies copying the idea, as well as the general public knowing of the project before they should).
- Any information about the people who are working on the project (as if they were discovered they could be blackmailed or targeted by a phishing attack to release information about their work on the project)
- The building itself and the equipment within it (would be quite expensive, also could be hard to replace)
Once I had all of my assets outlined, I could then determine the 3 key features of my physical security designs:
1. Fencing surrounding the lab and a single point of entry that only allows entry after a guards verification (ensures only those authorised can enter the building, increases the safety of those within the building which should be the top priority).
2. Files should be spread between multiple google offices across the globe, rather than all at this one lab. Removes a single point of failure if a breach does occur, ensuring the attacker doesn’t get all information about the topic. Also within each office, files should be stored in different locations and using different mediums (cloud, hard drive, printed documents etc.).
3. Low visibility within the building and entry should only be allowed through an escorted car. This ensures those working in the lab cannot be identified either entering the lab or working within it, protecting them from any spear phishing attacks or blackmailing.
Group Discussion:
After finishing my individual analysis, we then formed into groups of 3 and combined our results to form a final list of features for this lab. Whilst we were tempted to just start discussing recommendations, we thought we should again go through the key assets to be protected:
- Staff safety and identity/integrity
- Physical copies of important documents
- Physical server hard disks
- Important hardware equipment
From this list, we could now discuss our recommendations. We not only discussed ideas that I hadn’t thought of individually, but also challenged and improved upon my original recommendations. For example, whilst I originally suggested entering through an escorted car, the idea of having an underground entrance to serve the same purpose was also interesting.
There were many ideas that we discussed yet failed to make it into our final recommendations, with some being the use of multiple guards watching surveillance, guards in groups patrolling both inside and outside the lab, regular psychological checks for staff, a lockdown procedure that destroys all information in the event of a breach, and only hiring staff that are undetectable by authorities/other organisations (off the grid) .
However, our final three recommendations in order were:
1. Entry and exit protocol. Require a full body scan when entering and exiting the building, alongside using a key card and biometric authentication. Could backfire if there’s a power failure.
2. Storing files across various branches to remove a single point of failure, as if a breach does occur, the attacker doesn’t get all the information about the topic. (protects important information/files)
3. Low visibility both of building and when entering. Could enter either underground or through an escorted car. Building could be fenced off and have tinted/no windows. Protects the identity of the staff either working in the lab or entering it, protecting them from any spear phishing attacks or blackmailing.
Final Thoughts:
This exercise was not only good preparation for the upcoming mid semester exam, which would be tasking us with completing case studies individually like this, but it also highlighted the benefits of analysing such situations in a group, allowing both more ideas and also feedback on already existing ideas.

20 Ecommerce Advantages and Disadvantages You Need to Know http://bit.ly/2Ipt8wW
Are you thinking about starting an ecommerce business? The good news is that worldwide online sales are expected to grow to $4 trillion by 2020. In 2018, in the US alone, ecommerce retailers made $504.58 billion in sales revenue. There are many more benefits of ecommerce. In this article, you’ll discover the advantages and disadvantages of online stores so that you can decide for yourself if this is the right business type for you. These advantages of online business will help you stay excited and motivated throughout your entrepreneurial journey.
What Are the Advantages of Ecommerce?
You came to learn what are the advantages of having an online business. Top of the list of advantages of ecommerce is low financial cost but other pros include selling internationally, retargeting customers, personalization of the buying experience, etc. These benefits of ecommerce will help you determine if starting an online store is right for you.
Ecommerce Advantage #1: Low Financial Cost
One of the ecommerce benefits is that it has a lower startup cost. Physical retail stores have to pay up to thousands of dollars to rent one of their store locations. They also have several upfront costs such as store signs, store design, buying inventory, sales equipment, and more. Physical retail stores also have to pay staff to work and run each location. They may also need to hire security staff depending on the product value in the store.
However, for a dropshipping store startup costs are estimated at $418 in 2019 and ecommerce stores only pay $3192 a year on Shopify at most for virtual ‘rent’. Shopify also includes an easy to use platform, hosting, free Shopify themes, great apps like Oberlo, and lots of other great perks. Depending on what type of ecommerce business you run, you may only need to hire employees when you grow to a certain level. As your online store is online these employees can work remotely, making it easier to find staff that will suit your company.
If you choose to dropship online, you won’t need to buy bulk inventory saving you a lot of money. Your store logo is often more affordable than a store sign. Your business expenses are generally much lower in ecommerce. This is one of the most attractive benefits for new entrepreneurs looking to keep their costs low.
Ecommerce Advantage #2: 24/7 Potential Income
Another advantage of ecommerce is that online stores are always open for business. With your Facebook ads, you can attract someone at 11 p.m. or 4 a.m. in any part of the world. Most physical location stores are open between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. By being available at all hours, you can attract people who would normally pick up a product in stores, if the store were open.
Think about your audience who don’t work normal hours or who are too busy to pop into a shop to buy something. An ecommerce store allows you to attract those who may have odd work schedules or who don’t have time to shop in-person. For a customer to order at night, you don’t need to have employees working the night shift to ensure all orders get processed. You’ll never need to hire a security guard! All you need to do is automate your ordering systems so that customers receive a confirmation email when they place their order to give them peace of mind.
Ecommerce Advantage #3: Sell Internationally
Next on the list of ecommerce benefits is that a new brand can sell to customers around the world easily. You have the ability to discover your audience whether they’re in the U.K., South America, or neighboring countries. If you choose to dropship from AliExpress, many products offer affordable ePacket shipping or free shipping. This allows you to price and ship your products competitively to a worldwide audience.
Selling worldwide is a great feat as it helps you build your brand a lot faster, broadens your marketplace exponentially, and allows you to see profit long before your local competitors.
Ecommerce Advantage #4: Easy to Showcase Bestsellers
Ecommerce benefits like being able to easily display best-sellers makes it easier to show off products to customers. While you can design a brick and mortar store to sway people to buy certain products, it’s easier for a customer to find the best-sellers in an online store.
The reason why you want customers to buy your best-sellers is because they’re proven. Other customers have already bought them and are happy with their purchase. If you want to showcase new products to customers you can include them in your upsell, email marketing or retargeting ads. With an ecommerce store, you can include great product photography and product descriptions to sway the customer’s choice.
Ecommerce Advantage #5: Personalized Online Experience
Website personalization, one of the online business advantages, can enhance the online shopping experience. Creating personalized landing pages for different audiences can entice them to buy from you without much extra work on your side. It is not like customers coming into a physical store who you need to nurture from the first minute. You can do all the hard work before you launch a campaign and then relax once you release the campaign to your customer base.
Try segmenting your email lists based on purchases made, location or even how much money a customer spent. You can also retarget a customer who visited your online store showing them an ad for a product they added to their cart and forgot about. If your online business has a login feature, you can have a welcome message appear such as ‘Welcome back (name).’
Product bundles can help the customer buy more for a better price increasing average order value. You can also personalize upsells based on what the customer has looked at or what you think they might like based on their purchase behavior.
Ecommerce Advantage #6: Affordable Employees
One of the benefits of ecommerce is that hiring employees is affordable and, as mentioned before, you can hire from anywhere in the world. You can choose to outsource work to virtual assistants in countries where the cost of living is much lower. You’ll need fewer employees in an online business than a retail location. A huge advantage of online businesses is you don’t need to hire employees at launch. You can start and run an ecommerce business all by yourself. Only when you start to grow or when you have the capital should you start to hire employees.
Ecommerce Advantage #7: Easier to Encourage Impulse Buy
Another ecommerce benefit is that you can capitalize on impulse buying as online shoppers are more inclined to partake in this. If you have attractive product photography, with vibrant color or human emotion, you can create ads that drive impulse buys. You can also execute a range of scarcity tactics such as countdown timers or showcasing limited quantities.
Ecommerce Advantage #8: Easy to Retarget or Remarket to Customer
It’s easy to create retargeting ads to reach out to customers in your area when running an online business making it one of the most profitable ecommerce benefits. You can create a Facebook pixel. You can use the Shoelace Shopify app to retarget the browsers who visit your store but don’t buy.
With ecommerce stores, you can retarget people who add products to cart but don’t abandon and don’t buy or who visit a blog post and never buy. You can collect email addresses easily with an effective pop-up or lead magnet and continue marketing to your customers after you’ve made the sale.
Ecommerce Advantage #9: Customers Get a Less Invasive Experience
Some people dread walking into a brick and mortar store as they’re forced to interact with the store’s employees. Whether learning about a sales promotion or being asked questions throughout the shopping experience, some may prefer online shopping as it can be a little less invasive making it one of the best benefits of ecommerce. If a customer wants to contact the store owner, they can click on a live chat feature, email or send a Facebook message.
Ecommerce Advantage #10: Gain Access to Customer Data Easily
One of the best ecommerce advantages is that you can easily gain access to data for analysis on your customer. Most people feel uncomfortable giving away email addresses or postal codes to physical retailers. In ecommerce, you can get your customer’s name, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number. That means you have at least three different ways to communicate and build a relationship with them. You can even have them fill out marketing surveys, share their birth date with you, and more. If you ask them to create an account, you can obtain even more information from them to better serve them. If your customers are based within Europe be careful of GDPR regulations when contact customers.
Ecommerce Advantage #11: Able to Process a High Number of Orders
If you choose to dropship, you can process a high number of orders with ease. As your business continues to grow, you might choose to hire employees to help with order processing. Also with dropshipping you don’t need to physically have the product in order to sell it to a customer, therefore you do not have to worry about stock control like physical stores have to
In retail stores, long queues can deter people from shopping. With ecommerce, there’s no waiting time. A customer can place orders on his or her own schedule with no delays allowing you to accept a high number of orders.
Ecommerce Advantage #12: Can Scale Business Quickly
One of the benefits of ecommerce is that it’s easy to scale the business quickly. You can increase your ad budget when ads are performing well without having to worry too much about keeping up with the demand, especially if you dropship.
With brick and mortar stores, it can be hard to grow product lines or add more cashiers due to finite space. You’ll need to find a bigger space, renovate or wait for your lease to end in order to scale your business. If you create informational products, you run into a challenge again as it takes time to write ebooks, courses, and more.
With dropshipping, you can add new products to your store without having to worry about shipping products or holding inventory allowing you to grow quickly.
Ecommerce Advantage # 13: Grow Your Business Organically with Content
With ecommerce, you can grow organic traffic and sales with ecommerce blogging. From making videos to writing blog content, you’ll be able to optimize your store to drive traffic and sales without having to spend more money. With ecommerce, you’ll be able to not only get traffic organically through content creation, but you’ll also be able to monetize those customers with retargeting ads.
A brick and mortar retailer would need to market to their customers to encourage visits or ensure they’re located in a high traffic area to get more shoppers.
What Are the Disadvantages of Ecommerce?
As with every pro, there is a con. When starting an online store it is important to be realistic so below are a few ecommerce disadvantages that our merchants have run into, that do not apply to a physical store.
Ecommerce Disadvantage #1: No One Can Buy During a Site Crash
The worst of the ecommerce disadvantages is when no one can buy from your store if your site crashes. That’s why it’s important to ensure your website is hosted on the right platform. For example, if you’re paying the minimum hosting fee and get a surge in traffic from a high converting ad or a television shout-out like Shark Tank, your site will likely crash.
Fortunately, Shopify offers free hosting in their monthly fee allowing you to have one of the best servers on the market. In recent memory, there was only one time where sites were down. However, ecommerce stores weren’t the only sites affected. Twitter, Spotify, Soundcloud, and more were affected by this crash. The issue was resolved the same day. Yet, site crashes on Shopify are so rare that it’s likely not to cause problems in your business.
Ecommerce Disadvantages #2: Customers Can’t Try Before They Buy
While this is currently a problem for many retailers, this won’t be a long-term problem. With augmented reality, more stores are starting to add AR elements to their store to allow customers to try products on. Augmented reality ecommerce companies offer solutions for businesses to create a more interactive experience with your customers. If you own a cosmetics store, you can check out Sephora’s Virtual Artist app for an example of a beauty retailer with an augmented reality experience.
Ecommerce Disadvantage #3: Ecommerce Is Highly Competitive
Finding the right niche is another one of the worst ecommerce disadvantages. The reality is the best niches are often the most competitive that’s why people are drawn to them. The more competitive a niche is, the more expensive ads for that niche are. There are a couple of ways around this. First, you can go after a different audience than your competitors. If all your customers are being targeted by competitors through Facebook ads, you might try ranking organically with SEO optimization. If all your competitors are using Pinterest, you might try Instagram marketing if your audience are very visual beings.
Second, if your ads are expensive, you can send traffic to blog posts and retarget your customers who visit them to create lower cost ads. Working on CRO campaigns can help you be much more successful than your customers.
Ecommerce Disadvantages #4: Customers Can Be Impatient
If a customer has a question in store a salesperson is on the floor ready to answer them. However, an ecommerce disadvantage is that most businesses experience a delay responding to customer inquiries. The reality is most customers expect a response from a business within the hour on social media. If you delay in responding to their message, they can become angry and shop somewhere else instead. You need to be online 24/7.
You can hire customer service representatives who are trained to make your customers happy via Upwork. Or you can work with a chatbot to help customers find their answer any time of the day or night. But all of this still doesn’t equate to a person who is able to look after each person, in person.
Ecommerce Disadvantage #5: You Need to Ship Your Products
Customers consider shipping times to be one of the worst ecommerce disadvantages. When a customer shops in person she can take the product home right away. But, with online shopping, most customers receive their products in a week or more. While Amazon offers same day shipping, it wasn’t a profitable model until they created Amazon Prime. It only became profitable because they have tens of millions of Prime members. The solution is to be transparent with your customer. Let them know when they can expect packages when they place an order.
Ecommerce Disadvantages #6: Physical Retail Is Still More Popular Despite Decline
Even though one of the benefits of ecommerce is that it’s growing, physical retail still owns most of the market share. In 2014, the retail industry had accumulated over $22 trillion. Yet, online commerce had only made $1.3 trillion worldwide. Having an online business in the early stages allows you to become a leader in your niche. Yet, most money made is in physical retail stores making it an ecommerce disadvantage. Hence, why Amazon, despite being the biggest online store, is now creating in-person stores. But, keep in mind that $1.3 trillion in sales isn’t a small number. There’s still a lot of potential that online retailers can cash in on. And this number keeps growing.
