Eric and Donna’s Wedding Fiasco Meta (Part 2)
Now, an analysis of Donna’s POV.
As mentioned, Donna did get cold feet before the wedding but she makes several comments throughout the course of season 7 about the wedding that indicate she is bitter over this. Let’s see.
In S7xE12 “Don’t Lie to Me”
Eric: I happen to know a lot of ways out of a pact, my friend.
Donna: That’s true. We once had a pact to get married and then he just didn’t show up!
from the same episode
Donna: Well I have one last wedding thing to return and once this is done the only thing I’ll have left to remind me we almost got married will be you [points to Eric][They kiss].
Donna also avoids Stacy Wannamaker (Jenna Fischer!) the whole episode because she doesn’t want to have to tell her she didn’t get married.
In S7xE19 “Who’s Been Sleeping Here”
Eric: Maybe you’d like to talk about how I didn’t show up to the wedding, too?
Donna: Oh, well I don’t need to talk about that because I relive it every morning when I wake up, ALONE.
Donna definitely had cold feet (her subconscious knew something was off - it wasn’t Eric, it was the way she was acting like she had to give up everything else) but I also think she actually did want to get married.
But what was driving independent, kick-ass feminist Donna to act like this? Why’d she buy that godforsaken trailer? Why the hell would she talk about giving up college?
I actually think a lot of it had to do with her parents’ unstable marriage, and her desire not to replicate it now that she’s entering her own.
Bob and Midge were Donna’s primary example of marriage, and they were... a fucking disaster, to put it nicely *lol*. Donna’s well aware of this. Now that she is getting married, she’s probably terrified of replicating those same unhealthy behaviors/patterns in her marriage with Eric. I think Donna’s very thoughtful in her decisions during this time (though not necessarily right), even if on the surface they don’t make sense or seem to contradict what she’s wanted in the past.
In S6xE23 “My Wife” Eric and Donna have this exchange,
Eric: Donna, all you ever talked about was seeing the world. And my dad’s better now. I mean, we can get out.
Donna: Well I don’t wanna get out. I just want to focus on doing this marriage thing right, and I think that means curling up every night next to you on that dining room table that doubles as a bed.
In the same episode, Donna has this conversation with her ex Casey Kelso,
Casey: I’m surprised to see you’re still in town. You’d always talked about gettin’ outta here. I always thought you’d be some place more glamorous by now like Paris. Or Reno.
Donna: Well I’ve got Eric, and my job, and a great place to live and or pull behind a car. I mean, it’s not what I expected but it’s definitely the right thing to do.
Donna thinks she’s doing the right thing by settling down with Eric in Point Place, and prioritizing building a home with him. She thinks that’s how you have a successful marriage, and even though she has other dreams like her career and traveling, they’re not as important to her as Eric is.
It’s not what she saw modeled from her parents - who never prioritized each other, who fought over Midge’s ambition, who weren’t faithful to one another and experimented outside of their marriage, who had explosive fights in front of (and involving) Donna all the time. It seems like she’s maybe she’s inspired by Red and Kitty, methinks - or just the desire to have a traditional, loving, stable marriage in general.
Which we do see, thanks to That ‘90s Show, that Eric and Donna ultimately achieve. Although there are no trailers involved, they left Point Place for the big city, and Donna has a fulfilling career as an author. 🥰💕

Lou. 35+. She/her. Ao3 / Tumblr Writing
This is a multifandom blog. My main interest will likely always be Dragon Age but you will find anything and everything: other video games, MCU, old Hollywood, films, art, architecture, books, astrology, cats, fashion, etc. etc.
I always try to tag so if there are things you aren't interested in you can filter them out. I will tag "common" triggers but obviously I can't catch everything. If there's something I post frequently that you need a warning for just let me know! I also try to tag anything NFF as such but consider this blog NFF as a whole.
I like a lot of ships and tropes that some people may consider problematic. You can either accept that or unfollow me. If you message me on anon complaining or accusing me of being gross I will simply ignore you so don't waste your time.
That being said, my askbox is open and I would love to get (friendly) messages or prompts!
Current ships under the cut...
This is absolutely not an exhaustive list! These are pairings I have read and/or written and will continue to do so. I didn't include pairings I adore and support but wouldn't necessarily seek out fic for (eg. Elena/Nate from Uncharted).
Dragon Age - Cullen/Dorian, Cullen/Dorian/The Iron Bull, Dorian/M!Inquisitor, F!Lavellan/Solas, Alistair/F!Cousland, Fenris/M!Hawke, Anders/M!Hawke, Anders/Fenris, Fenris/Sebastian
Mass Effect - Kaiden/M!Shepard, Garrus/F!Shepard, Harry/M!Ryder, M!Ryder/Reyes, Bain/Reyes

Narada Michael Walden (born April 23, 1952) is a musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
He began his career as a drummer, working primarily in the jazz fusion realm, appearing with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Chick Corea, Jaco Pastorius, Wayne Shorter and Weather Report, and Allan Holdsworth. After being mentored by Quincy Jones, he transitioned into a role as a songwriter and producer, working in the 1980s and 1990s with numerous R&B acts such as Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and Mariah Carey, as well as other singers across several genres. In 2020, he became the drummer for Journey, replacing Steve Smith. In 2021, he became one of two drummers in the band alongside the returning Deen Castronovo before leaving. He appears on the band’s album Freedom (2022), having co-produced and played on the album before his departure.
He was born in Plainwell, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University for two years.
He played with rock bands in Miami after he graduated from college. He was a member of the ‘second incarnation’ of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, playing drums and providing vocals. Atlantic released his first album, Garden of Love Light, in 1977 with a single that reached the R&B chart. This was followed by I Cry I Smile and The Awakening. The latter album reached #15 on the R&B chart. His singles continued to be popular in R&B during the 1980s. These included a duet with Patti Austin and an appearance on the soundtrack for the movie Bright Lights, Big City.
He built his studio in 1985 and produced music for The Temptations, Stacy Lattisaw, Aretha Franklin, Angela Bofill, Lisa Fischer, Sister Sledge, Herbie Hancock, Patti Austin, Whitney Houston, Clarence Clemons, George Benson, Sheena Easton, Kenny G, Lionel Richie, Al Jarreau, and Mariah Carey.
He has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, winning three: Best R&B Song for “Freeway of Love” (1985); Producer of the Year, Non-Classical (1987); and Album of the Year for The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album (1993).
He married former Catholic school teacher, Katie Mersereau (2013). The couple has two daughters and a son. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Women and Oregon breweries, a post-1984 list.
When I heard there was no list of women who owned or co-owned breweries in Oregon I knew I had to make it right.
I pulled together a list of women listed as owners (and a handful of brewers) using the information in Oregon Brew Tour (2011), Oregon Breweries (2014), on Jeff Alworth’s blog, the breweries identified on the Oregon Brewers Guild site, and a Google Maps search combined with the info in the Oregon State Business Registry Database.
Note: Some of the women included in this post include women who are listed as owners / co-owners in the forms filed and uploaded to the State Business Registry Database. I’m not sure how involved they are in day-to-day operations.
I'll be filling in gaps as I do more research, but email me at [email protected] to add names and make my job easier!
Note: people leave jobs and businesses close, and I have not noted that here. This is more a tally of “all time” rather than a current list.
June 10, 2021: I had what felt like a brilliant, though tedious, idea to search the State Business Registry Database for “brew*” (wildcard at the end of that search word because librarians roll like that), but after spending way too much time opening a lot of business records looking for female owner / co-owners I scrolled to the bottom to see how large my task was, only to find that the site would only display the first 1000 names. It stopped at Heater Allen. 🙄I’ve added what I found here, but note that some may have been registered and never opened.
I’ve done many, many, many interviews with women related to brewing in Oregon (many brewers who could be added to this list). You can find those on the guide to OHBA collections.

OCTOBER 15, 2021 UPDATE:
I got a question that asked: “Do you have a sense of what overall percentage that reflects?” The short version of the long answer is that it’s really hard to find out.
Learn more about how to research the industry on the Beer Research Guide.
What’s below still gives some data edges.
TOTALS: According to the Brewers Association:
In 2020, there were 312 breweries in Oregon
In 2019, there were 311 breweries
In 2017, there were 266 breweries
In 2015, there were 215 breweries
In 2013, there were 181 breweries
In 2011, there were 124 breweries
According to portlandbeer.org (a now defunct new blog), in 2007, there were 64 brewing companies operating 90 brewing facilities (so lots of McMenamins and other breweries with multiple locations).
CLOSURES
In 2020, 21 breweries / taprooms closed (New School Beer)
In 2019, 18 closed (New School Beer)
In 2017, 24 opened (Portland Business Journal) and 10 closed (New School Beer)
And it seems there was an average of 7-ish closing each year before that (Register Guard)
Another list that includes numbers on closures (ratebeer.com).
I have found state guidebooks (which are immediately out of date, so immediately “historical” useful in this search. They are listed on the Oregon Hops and Brewing Archives guide.

For anyone wondering why I care so much about Cunningham's Gap, here's a list;
The Gap (as it's nicknamed) is a national park, and home to many species of birds.
The Gap is also an old volcano.
It's named after a dude named Alan Cunningham since he walked across the Gap sometime when white people decided to explore Australia more.
The Gap is close to an area that has a mountain/large rock naturally shaped as an elephant which was home to an Aboriginal tribe, who's massacred spirits actually haunt it.
The Gap is the quickest route from Ipswich/Brisbane to New South Wales if the truckies don't need to go to Toowoomba. This pass is now burning and now EVERYONE has to go through Toowoomba.
People fucking live at the base of the mountain. There's a fucking town a few minutes away and if the fire goes north, the little town of Aratula will be devoured.
People live on my side of the Gap, including two places with many animals. These two places are Bestbrook Mountain Farmstay (who own horses, sheep, dogs and peacocks among other small petting zoo animals small children love) and Ron's Gap Creek horse riding and campsite (which is also known as Gap Creek Moto).
Where I live is about 30 minutes to an hour's drive away from Cunningham's Gap, however, I know the family who owns Bestbrook and now I'm terrified.
Fischer's Park Truck Stop and Stacy's At the Gap are both in the line of (literal) fire.
Spicer's Gap almost got hit.
The Gap is the fastest thing between me and my mum and she's probably going to panic despite me being independent.

With many personalities, all of the drama that you can get, surprising interactions and unique challenges from these many countries on TV, this race is looking super ridonculous.
