This is a colourization I did of the late Indian cinema actress Sridevi Kapoor. Today (August 13 2023) would have been her 60th birthday. Sridevi was born in Meenampatti, Madras State (present day Tamil Nadu) on August 13 1963. She became a child actress at 4 years old starring in Tamil films. As she grew up she began a long career in Indian cinema including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. She was considered a Bollywood Superstar. In 1996 she married Boney Kapoor and they had 2 daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. Both of her daughters are now Bollywood actresses. On February 24 2018 while attending a wedding in Dubai Sridevi fell and drowned in her hotel bathroom. Her funeral was one of the largest funerals with up to 7000 fans showing up to pay respects.
Sridevi was one of my favourite Bollywood actresses. Google made a "doodle" for her today on their front page.

Remembering #YashChopra, the legendary filmmaker, on his 12th death anniversary (21/10/12).
Yash Raj Chopra (27 September 1932 – 21 October 2012) was a distinguished Indian film director and producer in Hindi cinema. He was the visionary founder and chairman of the film production and distribution powerhouse Yash Raj Films. His illustrious career earned him numerous accolades, including 6 National Film Awards and 8 Filmfare Awards, marking him as one of the paramount filmmakers in Hindi cinema, especially revered for his romantic narratives with compelling female protagonists. His remarkable contributions to the film industry were recognized by the Government of India with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2005. Further, in 2006, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts gave him a lifetime membership, a first for an Indian.
Chopra's cinematic journey commenced as an assistant director to I. S. Johar and his elder brother, B.R. Chopra. He debuted as a director with Dhool Ka Phool in 1959, a melodrama exploring illegitimacy, followed by the social drama Dharmputra (1961). His directorial finesse gained prominence with the critically and commercially acclaimed family drama Waqt (1965), which introduced the trend of ensemble casts in Bollywood. In 1970, he launched his own production entity, Yash Raj Films, with its maiden venture being Daag: A Poem of Love (1973), a melodrama delving into polygamy, which garnered success. His winning streak continued through the seventies with iconic films like the action-thriller Deewaar (1975), which catapulted Amitabh Bachchan to stardom; the musical romantic drama Kabhi Kabhie (1976), and the ensemble family drama Trishul (1978). Chopra crafted two of his magnum opuses with Sridevi: the romantic musical Chandni (1989), which played a pivotal role in veering Bollywood away from violent themes towards romantic musicals, and Lamhe (1991), an intergenerational romantic drama, which, despite underperforming domestically, enjoyed overseas success.
Following the critically lacking Parampara (1993), he helmed the musical psychological thriller Darr (1993), marking the onset of his collaborative journey with Shahrukh Khan. This partnership flourished with romantic hits like Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Veer-Zaara (2004), and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). Although he announced his retirement in 2012, his dedication saw him working until his demise during the production of Jab Tak Hai Jaan due to dengue fever. Yash Raj Chopra's directorial legacy, embodied in his extensive work, cements his position as one of Bollywood's timeless directors.

Unpopular opinion: Tripti Dimri is on her way to becoming Margot Robbie of Bollywood (saying this with no hate to either because I love both but in context to how men loved Margot till she did Barbie and everyone is just hating on her now for no reason). I loved Tripti in laila majnu and bulbul and I mean I'm sure it has something to do with her plan for her career but Bad Newz is just bad news for her career rn. She's been getting extremely sexualised ever since Animal came out.... Idk what's the point of this film either. Personally I have no issues with the film per se but it's giving 'Revamped Bridget Jones Baby' vibes except usme neither of the men knew who the father is. Plus with the current situation of women hating going on people are going to be like see this is what women do and shit! Idk why everyone is making women the villains 🥲
I really don't want it to be the case but I don't think Triptii is going to have much of a career unless some miracle takes place and she begins to be recognised as a serious actor
It's so fcked up how Animal was the movie that gave her a big break 😔 a movie where an Outsider like her had to literally lick a Nepokid's shoes 😔😔 Vanga is such a violent misogynist, I hope he's rotting and never makes another film
I wish she hadn't done Animal because I don't think she gained anything from the film. The whole "national crush" thing is fake PR hype and most people don't find her attractive or feminine and slut shame for that movie :((( the amount of comments I see on IG reels about her calling her "cheap" or "masculine looking" is insane 💀
I know she made a ton of money and achieved mainstream recognition post - Animal but at what cost???
And she's Pushya Moon 😪😪 doing a film that clearly went against a principles is not going to help her in the long run (Saturnians always suffer when they act contrary to the rigidly righteous nature of Saturn)
If she had stayed on her indie film trajectory she would've eventually received a big break. Maybe it would've taken longer but she'd have been taken seriously as an actor and enjoyed a much better reputation.
I don't want to sound like I'm blaming her because as an Outsider with a handful of films under her belt, Triptii wasn't in a position to turn down a film as big as Animal and I get that. But she's now isolated herself from every demographic. The average Indian just thinks she's cheap or slutty because of her nudity and sexuality in the film (not the greatest first introduction for an actress in India) and the woke liberal crowd thinks she's a sellout lacking intergrity for working with an asshole like Vanga in a movie as horrendous as Animal.
Right now, Triptii is standing on shaky ground. Idk how big of a hit Bad Newwz will be or what it'll do for Triptii's career but the way it's currently going, I feel like she'll do a handful of films and then dip. She isn't really focusing on picking good scripts and is going for commercial appeal which I understand but I don't think the Indian general public likes her very much atp for her to sustain herself as a commercial actress 😔😔😔
It's really hard to be a female superstar in India and only a handful of women have ever achieved it. Hema Malini, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit and to lesser extents Aishwarya Rai & Deepika Padukone. They're all women who were "known" for being traditional and modest irl (a lot of times it wasn't actually the case but at least they tried to maintain that image lmao and it worked) and they were also more cute and beautiful than straight up sexy 😶‍🌫️
I hope it all works out for Triptii and at least she'll make hella $$$$
I hate that Outsider women are treated like they're disposable in this industry whereas untalented nepo kids like Janhvi and Sara repeatedly get big budget movie offers even though they haven't had a hit in years lol. They'll never be written off like an Outsider and be given endless chances to prove themselves.
Nepotism sucks

Hey?!I crave telugu james potter but the world is not ready for it z so please please do telugu james potter hcs
AHHHHH you have no idea how happy i was to see this?? i was pleasantly surprised when i first saw that there was a popular hc in the fandom that james was indian?? its fun but sometimes its just very superficial - he celebrates diwali and throws in one or two hindi words, lol.
my hc:
Honestly the strongest point i have is that he is from telangana lol (warangal bidda if you will)
he listens to telugu music (only knows what his dad listens to tho). it was hard to connect to the telugu popculture (hogwarts doesnt have technology and he's in the U.K. anyway)
James would probably be a chiranjeevi fan (he was very campy and talented!) if he cared. He would crush on sridevi, it's just natural.
He didn't care for cultural festivals, and his parents are Christian, but he devoured Ugadi pachadi. (laddoos and kaja for Christmas?? anyone?? Sirius would be so fascinated with putharekulu and remus' sweet tooth would be happy with all the sweets-his fav is peda!)
I tried to be period friendly (even looked up media in the 70s lmao), but if it's just any era: James would be a hoe for 2000s films. probably loves okkadu if I'm being real.
his cousins in the mainland definitely gave him shit for his accent, and he doesn't care enough to code switch.
if he was a muggle in India, definitely would go to hps for school (very self-indulgent, lmao)
he uses dad and amma. (Nanna feels a little awkward, okay!!!)
saying "abbaaaaa" when things don't go his way, (any chance for an ABBA telugu pun shouldn't be left out, btw) and "cheeee" when disgusted.
he used to tease his parents for their 4 p.m. chai habits and call it unhealthy but would pick it up during the first war. just a reminder of normality in the chaos and would give a moment with loved ones. he finally understood why his parents always had their chai and biscuits out in the garden, at 4 p.m.
his mum would insist on oiling his hair (to somehow manage the messy mop on his head) during holidays. he'd fight back hard but give in when she threatened to do it with magic. (he'd be super relaxed cause of the massaging but will never admit). he misses that later and cries hard into lily's shoulder one day, when she casually rubs his scalp in a way it reminds him of his mother (and how she'd never oil his head now!)
feel free to add on (or dismiss anything you don't like hahahaha)
