Also realized something alongside the naming issue

So, Nurse Eomin, the ermine nurse OC, who was conscripted by the Weasel Unit who don’t know she’s actually from Flower Hill, was originally a black fox combat medic who joined willingly because the rule of the weasels was all she knew.

I had this idea of a black fox, sometimes only visible to anyone via the red crosses on her helmet and coat, crawling through the mud to and digging fox holes to treat the injured, and then bring other injured into the hole if it was safe enough. If they were in a hole, they would raise a flag with a Red Cross so the are didn’t get bombed by accident, and since I had a bit of Geneva Convention in my AUs, no one would shoot them.

But I figured she had a soft spot for hedgehogs, especially after a few of them might slide into the hole before the flag went up, get surprised, and leave peacefully while apologizing, whereas other countries she’s fought in would try and take advantage of the situation and kill both her and the wounded.

I kind of had a From Russia With Love idea going on, where she either falls in love with a hedgehog soldier who keeps falling into the medic hole, or the Flower Hill Commanders find out about her interest in hedgehogs (college days), and send a scout to try and convince her to change sides, since she is so good at her job, getting her out of the way would increase the amount of casualties in the Weasel Unit and demoralize the enemy. Would also boost the morale of the Flower Hill soldiers, since they start attributing legends and folk tales about the black fox combat medic who is some sort of angel savior for the other side. Also black foxes might be reverted by the weasel cultures, so the Flower Hill commanders would love to target that.

Or maybe the Weasel Unit captures a hedgehog, and she is assigned to treat his wounds after each interrogation and falls in love. Or her squad accidentally captures Bamsaegi and mistakes him for a child soldier, and hands him over to her to guard him, and eventually they try to deprogram the other, and then the black fox helps Bamsaegi escape.

Or one idea where Nurse Eomin and the fox are roommates and ‘adopt’ Bamsaegi who recognizes the squads mistake and plays the part of a confused child soldier while he hopes for rescue to come in time. But Norse Eomin knows who he is, but can’t let on that she’s from Flower Hill in case he does get interrogated.

But I kind of liked the White Ermine idea better since the fox sounded a bit too Mary Sue-ish, so I went with that. But why not have both fox and ermine in the same AU? They can be friends, your honor. Or even classmates, or in-laws.

A Sonic the Hedgehog au where the hero and villain characters swap places! Here are all the swaps so far!

I'm still working out swaps for other characters, (Both Rouge and Blaze have been considered for swapping with The End, Merlina possibly being swapped with Elise,) so look out for those post when they come!

I can't wait to keep on yapping and making content about this au!

Update on the Squirrel and Hedgehog AUs from March

Geumsaegi AU:

Plans for this are coming along nicely for the most part. I plan to have parts of the war spill into and affect other countries, so I might have to look into creating AU nations surrounding Flower Hill or on the other side of the ocean. Honestly, I might create a faction with Joo Ho Jo from the current AU, explained below. Or I might keep OCs to a minimum in this one.

I had somehow completely forgotten that even Commander Seungnyangi plotted against Dr. Huinjogjebi to steal his research and take over the army by attempting to manipulate Geumsaegi, so that actually changes a few things.

Absolutely going to be the funny guy here and find a way to force Geumsaegi and Mulmangcho to reluctantly work together for a few chapters, at least to survive some dangerous situations. Does not stop them from hating each other though, could be a nice dynamic.

Kidnapped Scientists AU

Nunsongi is definitely going to be the name of the military research scientist squirrel. But the name Uisa still means 'doctor,' so Uisa Darami can still be in use as a forced pen name on their publicized research. I see them as a relatively young scientist who was extremely good at their job and became famous for it in the foreign university. Their fame follows them when they graduate and return to Flower Hill, even though they try to keep it low key.

She tries her best to stay loyal, but over a period of time with no rescue in sight, allows herself to understand that she can further her research by complying with some demands, and not all of the tasks and research topics will harm Flower Hill directly. Maybe even rise in the ranks and sabotage the army.

Jilmunja is still the name of the weasel interrogator/warden/head guard. I know it is also the name of a minor character hedgehog in my current AU, but who says I can't reuse some names for vastly different characters?

Since the idea for the prisoners in this cell block is that they need to be kept alive, he is firm but knows how to wear them down slowly over a long period of time (months to years) into compliance, using a system of rewards (research material, extra food, allowed to see outside, online schooling) and punishments (threats to other prisoners, isolation, etc.). Also very protective of them, and more of an affably evil vibe.

His idea is that eventually, overall, he will convince all the prisoners to work for the Weasel Army, allowing for them to concede ideas slowly. He has time. Although he also deals with other prisoners in different cell blocks, where information is needed quickly. He can be fast and far more brutal, there.

The civilian hostages are mainly used to keep the important prisoners in line, but they can still be used by the Weasel Army. The online school programs from foreign universities he permits are used as a compliance tool with the idea that the students might use what they learn for the Weasel Army someday.

The young adult hedgehog on his first day of conscription (assuming 17/18 years old) who opened a window at the wrong time and was abducted alongside the older hedgehog will be named Wonsi (Farsighted). The Weasel Army recognizes that he is from a long line of excellent to legendary snipers, so he is a good 'acquisition.' No one knows that he is essentially legally blind and very colorblind, least of all Wonsi.

Wonsi is absolutely gung-ho about being a loyal Flower Hill soldier, and immediately assumes that he is going to be killed or should die to protect Flower Hill, but is confused about himself finding some joy in the online schooling system.

I'm still a little stuck since the vast majority of the characters in Squirrel and Hedgehog are just called by their rank and species name, if not just their species. Very few have given names unless it is of a big identifying feature that everyone can see (Nunsongi being born during a snowstorm instead of spring giving an out of season birth date unlike other squirrels, Aekku having one eye, Oegwipali having one ear). I would like to be creative, but I also know it would be more likely for the military strategist hedgehog to just be called Strategist Goseumdochi. I could call him Jeonlyagga (Strategist) or Him (strength, will) if I wanted to I guess.

I've recently begun seeing Strategist Goseumdochi as an older hedgehog. Where Nunsongi is young, he is older and established, with a long record of successes, which is why the Weasel Army wanted him. Fiercely loyal to Flower Hill with an iron will, but even he knows that eventually even he can be worn down over time to give some information or assistance, even if the weasels are not physically hurting him directly.

Hagsaengi, I've decided to split him into two separate characters, maybe young teenagers.

The squirrel students are named Minji (sharp intellect), and the other Injae (Talented and wise scholar). Both are extremely intelligent prodigies who happened to be in the same building Nunsongi was abducted in, so they are a bonus to the Weasel Army. I'm thinking on if I want them to be twins, or academic rivals from different families that the weasels and mice would try to pit against each other.

The twins idea could pull a bunch of scenes of the two finding out the other is alive, resulting in emotional plotlines where separating the two is a punishment to keep them in line. The rival idea could pull that they are pretending to hate each other in front of the Weasel Army, but they wouldn't even think to betray Flower Hill, and may be using the fighting to make plans to escape or sabotage behind the scenes. Rival families could also introduce a secret childhood friends plotline.

I'm still working on how many other hostages there are. I think I can easily name the duck Murori (no relation) and the rabbit Tokki, and have an array of other prisoners that are needed alive for a time to come in and out.

Everyone's kidnapping is done or orchestrated by a mouse with gold earrings named Geumbanji (Gold Rings), who is a a spy leading a special unit to help carry out abductions, who took the time to gain most of the victims' trust over a period of time before abducting them.

I just remembered the other day that Nanbaka exists, but the vibes are far different since the prisoners in that show actually want to be there. I probably won't be making Skippy's List jokes, though, since there is not much I could turn into a reasonable story with this or any of the AUs.

White Ermine AU:

The white ermine nurse's name is Nurse Eomin. She refuses to act flirty and sexy with the troops like the other nurses and female servants, but the Weasel Army and Wolf Unit soldiers think it is funny that the white one is so cold hearted and call her Yepa, which translates into 'Winter Princess' or 'Ice Queen' in Korean. Interesting enough, it is actually a Native American term that was taken up into Korean, but it could fit with what I have planned since they are foreign invaders coming to steal things.

Not sure if that is culturally insensitive, though, so I could use Seoli or Chadonyeo (slang for cold hearted yet intelligent girl from a big city) instead.

She might appear cold, but she is easily frightened at her situation deep within.

Ermines (also called stoats) are not native to Korea, but are native to Russia, China, and Japan, which can help hide the fact that she is actually from Flower Hill.

I saw in a recent post that there is a definite lack of crow OCs. I know I made a bunch of White-Naped Crane OCs since they live in the Korean demilitarized zone in real life, but it is not the same. It could be interesting to create a few crow characters for this AU. Maybe have one of them secretly be a Flower Hill duck.

Cage of Eden AU:

I am thinking of at least having two characters named Gasi (Thorn) and Baneul (Needle). A squirrel and a hedgehog who are great friends, and they joke about their names. Most of the characters in this AU are going to be named their occupations since they are active soldiers.

Going to have the Takashi Nishikiori inspired character as a White Naped-Crane though.

I don't think I can put any crow OCs in this one, since the ability to scout from the air would solve most plots before they began, and I really want to have fun with the Sturgeons and Dr. Huinjogjebi on this one.

Still going to mix canon characters and OCs from other stories into this one.

Other:

Joo Ho Jo was supposed to be a one off joke character in Chapter 20 of the Lily Bell in the Thorn Thicket AU. But honestly? A weasel who is part of a royal/upper class family, until they were deposed by the commoners a few generations ago, and is extremely angry about it and plans revenge, can make for some interesting or amazing plot ideas. Might as well work with the names Paola, Bolasaeg, Nogsaeg, and Holli as well at some point in the future, although drop the parody elements.

Jinro still just chilling like Ginko from Mushishi, except he's being hunted like Super Doctor K but for his cooking skills.

It turns out tufted ground squirrels are rumored to slaughter deer in localized folklore? So a hyena having one as a bodyguard could be fun.

I'd like to have an actual romance between a hedgehog and a wolf or hyena where the hedgehog is the dominant one in the relationship, but that might be a oneshot where the canine is accused of trafficking the hedgehog through Flower Hill, when the couple is genuinely there for innocent reasons.

Haven't worked on the Hyena, Nope, or Mistaken Identity AUs in a while. Otherwise doing some research on Nuke EMP resistant vehicles and if they can be mixed with a TIV modified truck as a tank, because honestly they look cool and can come in handy for some plot or story ideas.

While Vector is a sweet (but intimidating) croc raising his bee boy Charmy with Espio being assigned to look after Charmy so he doesn't get in trouble?

Or maybe you could like Flesh-tize Gemerl and Robotize Espio!

I dunno maybe Cream could keep her Chao and that's how they got the name 'CHAOtix'? And they're little gremlins like Cream?
