I live in the desert. If I set my air lower than 78, it will run non-stop and blow out in a week. Today it was 119 outside. That’s a 43 degree difference; do you know how much of a strain it is on your ac unit to cool your home to below 80 when it’s nearly 120 outside? It’s the lowest I can go without spending $16,000 on a new unit. And trust me, when you’ve been outside in 119 degree heat, 78 feels FUCKING AMAZING 😂
We got back from vacation in the middle of the night last week and our ac wasn’t working. The house was 95 degrees. Husband slept outside on the patio, I slept on the couch with a soaking wet sheet on and a fan aimed at me, the kid slept on the loveseat by me and the dog sprawled on the tile. We managed. It sucked satans ballsack but we managed.
The coldest it gets where I live is roughly in the 50’s, with some nights getting fairly cool and the occasional random midnight snow. I dunno……anything below 70 is freezing to me; I need a jacket to be comfortable. We all acclimatize. The summers where I live would kill most Europeans but at the same time, I cried the first time my desert rat ass saw snow, so…..you know…..we thrive where we survive I guess.

𝐁𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐓 𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐓 ⊹₊⟡⋆
Tumblr media
𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐄!𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐗 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑 - TW: Gore description at the end of the chapter . icky stuff, reader has a little bit of androphobia .
Tumblr media
ׂ╰┈➤ Ever since you were a little kid you dreamed of being a nurse, any kind of nurse, you really just wanted to help for the greater cause. Was it you trying to indulge a savior complex? Perhaps.
Now that you were in fact at camp, training under a more experienced nurse you came to realize that this place was so so much worse than you expected.
These soldiers were no walk in the park, many of them were traumatized from war, sometimes even refusing to take their medicine because it would numb their pain, the only thing that let them know that they were in fact alive.
It broke your heart.
Then came the harassment, some shouted and tried to swipe at you, doing all they could to keep you away from them. sometimes it was just lustful men, not seeing a woman in so long causing them to grow impatient, some would grab you, look you up and down like a fresh piece of meat. Ugh, disgusting.
You hauled around a basket full of medicine and fresh gauze, turning and weaving through the make shift hospital until reaching a white tent .
You unzipped the “door” and shimmied inside the tent, two people came into view, you greeted your senior nurse and the injured soldier politely.
The nurse turned around, clasping her hands together in what seemed a pleading gesture.
“Oh! (Y/N) there you are, can you take over this one for me? There’s another man badly injured in another tent.”
What? No, please don’t leave me with him!
You sent a pathetic look to the other nurse, begging her not to leave you all alone.
You turned your gaze over to the man sitting on the stretcher, the grip on your basket growing tighter.
He was fucking huge, his body being muscular and tall at the same time. His face obscured by dirtied bandages, all sorts of grime and dried blood splashed on his bandages like faded watercolor.
The nurse gave you a soft pat on the shoulder as she left in a haste.
You cleared your throat, shrugging off the discomfort in your system and getting to work swiftly.
You approached the sink, letting the cold water run over your skin, allowing the soap suds to cleanse the impurities and leave a fresh and pure exterior.
You patted your hands against a paper towel and grabbed the basket containing the various first aid equipment.
“I’m (Y/N) and I will be your nurse for today.” The practiced words rolled off your tongue smoothly, although your expression betrayed your confident rambling.
The man glanced up at you, steely blue-grey eyes glaring at you through golden eyelashes.
You swallowed thickly, quickly observing his physical state, you could point out two or three injuries. But with his face covered you can barely make out if he needs anything to be done on his face.
“I need to remove your bandages to clean injuries below them.” You folded your hands in front of your stomach, furrowing your brows while waiting for him to shout at you.
But the boisterous voice never came, instead a soft grunt answered along with the shuffling of fabric.
The dirtied bandages coiled around his neck, draping over his shoulders as he nodded his head to get his hair out of his vision.
You gazed at his features.. He was beautiful.
Not the delicate flower type of beauty, not something to be gently handled or protected. It was more like a rough, jagged beauty, alike to the beauty of a rusted, jagged claymore, flowers curled along its hilt and blade.
Blonde hair curled in between his eyebrows in a sort of X shape. His features were strong and sharp, his expression stony and serious. His slightly tanned skin decorated with scars and small cuts.
“Are there any serious injuries you have right now?”
The man rolled up his stained tank top to reveal bandages wrapped around his ribs, light pink stains splashed on the surface of the yellowed bandages.
You took a deep breath, putting some gloves on to begin inspecting the wound.
You slowly unraveled the bandages, revealing a half-scabbed half-fresh wound underneath, you glanced up at the large man to get a look at how well he was fairing with the pain.
Only the slightest twitch of his eyebrow and the soft flushing along his cheekbones were telling you that he was feeling pain.
He glanced down at you, pupils dilating for a moment before looking entirely away.
After a little you made sure to send him on his way, his right side was wrapped in bandages and thoroughly disinfected.
You made sure to clean the minor cuts on his face too, medical tape covering some of them.
You grabbed your clipboard, recording his visit today and a simple report on what was done.
“Can you give me your whole name and birthdate?” You asked softly, glancing down at the white boxed paper.
“February 14.” His accented voice answered, folding his old bandages in his own hand.
“..Marcelle Briar.” He glanced at you from the corner of his eye shyly.
“Alright, I believe that is it..” you muttered, taking out some pain killers and handing them to him “You can take two every six hours to keep down the pain.. Is there anything else you wanted to speak about?”
Marcelle looked up from his hands, gently taking your in his,
“Yes, right here.” He placed your hand over his chest, right over his heart, it was erratically beating against his ribcage almost as if it were about to jump out of his tórax and run off.
“Every time I look at you. My heart.. em.. how do you say..? Fast.” He explained, pressing your hand into his chest even more.
His cheeks were flushed a red tint, small sweat suds forming over his scarred skin.
You laughed nervously, prying your hand away from his relaxed, soft muscles.
Your ears were beginning to feel warmer, how do you explain this to him without outright embarrassing him?
You started “Erm.. Well—“
“Lieutenant cottontail!! There you are.” Another deep voice cut you off as he stepped into the tent.
“..Salvador.”
It was another burly man of Marcelle’s size, big muscular and intimidating handsome..
But this one was a stark contrast to him, he seemed more extroverted and.. louder, you suppose.
His black hair fell over his face loosely, styled in a messy half-up-half-down type of way.
His gaze shifted to you, eyes widening just a little bit, giving you a curious look.
“hello there.. sorry for the intrusion, muñeca.” He waved at you, his shoulders relaxed.
You stayed quiet, before just nodding your head.
“You must be the new nurse, right?” He walked closer to you, you tried to ignore how his boots were tracking blood and mud into the sterile tent..
“C-correct.” He leaned down to your level for a moment, observing you intently for a moment, his dark eyes narrowed.
You were about to pop a blood vessel, you could hear the blood pumping through your ears frantically, did you do something wrong? Why was he looking at you like that?
“..You’re pretty cute.” He whispered to himself before he backed away completely, swiveling around to greet the blonde man on the cot.
“We have a new unit of rookies, cmon.” The new man(Salvador) motioned with his head for the other male to get moving.
“See you around, (Y/N).” The black haired one bid his goodbye with a nod of his head and a pat to your head.
The blonde one stared at you for a second, you swear you saw the corners of his lips twitch up slightly before muttering a farewell too.
Marcelle might have been struck with Cupid’s arrow. Unfortunately it seemed that he wasn’t the only one under the mischievous cherub’s control.
his “friend” had been shot too. Marcelle could tell, Salvador was laidback and a good personality, complete contrast to him but even with that arrogant exterior Salvador adored to display, Marcelle knew that something changed.
When he spoke to you the tips of his ears were slightly flushed, he toned down his prideful side too, truly a miracle.
as far as Marcelle knew, Salvador loathed physical touch. However he didn’t hesitate to brush against you. Male-Whore.
And what did the blonde man do this whole time? Seethe as he watched the interaction. He was pushing 34 years old and he was still too shy to speak to a girl. Pathetic.
He now had competition, he hoped that it was just a puppy crush and would lay over and be forgotten by Salvador and him.
Oh how wrong he was.
It had been a while since you begun to feel at home at base, and now you had.. friends, you suppose.
Those two soldiers were becoming close to your heart, both of them paying you almost daily visits, gifting you small trinkets they found and wild flowers from their outings.
Salvador liked giving you flowers, especially red ones for some reason, he was the more flirtatious one out of the pair, but you just laughed it off. not like he could have feelings for a puny person like you, could he? He was probably playing with you..
God, are you dense or do you think he doesn’t like you? Salvador has tried everything, he has flirted, shown that you are special to HIM, he has gotten rid of all the nuisances, he literally worships the ground you walk on and you still don’t get that he is hopelessly I love with you?!
Marcelle was sweet, you honestly didn’t expect it from him, he always had an annoyed look and seemed milliseconds away from tearing your head off your shoulders clean.
But he was.. basically a human sized teddy bear—at least towards you. He liked physical proximity(surprisingly), gently hugging your head closer to his chest, burying his nose into your hair, you name it.
Salvador never had any of it, shooting nasty looks at Marcelle and muttering jabs at him, They were both like two brothers fighting over a plushie.
Somehow they both would always end up hugging a part of your body after bickering for a while.
Lately there has been various soldier deaths, strangely enough they were men you knew, both in your good and not so good graces.
They were admitted into the infirmary for life threatening wounds and most of the time died due to blood loss or a punctured organ.
It was traumatic. Having to drag the body out and into a sealed bag to the corresponding family.
Your ears pricked at the sound of screams, you were used to hearing those cries for help. You learned throughout so many years that you were to mind your business, not to investigate and much less wander near the forest.
Bloodcurdling screams resounded from the woods, only the birds and bears present to hear the sound of death.
A blonde man grabbed onto the lower jaw of the bloodied man lying on the floor, thick fingers lodging onto the frenulum of his mouth.
The sound of cartilage tearing reached his ears, a sick laugh reverberating from his chest as blood streamed out the injured soldiers mouth.
“Fancy seeing you here.” A lax voice sounded from behind Marcelle.
Salvador dragged a body with him, creating a dark trail of guts and blood on the dirt flooring.
The man Marcelle was finishing with flailed and cried on the ground, his tongue sticking out from his mouth as there was no more jaw to hang on to.
He flailed for help to the black haired fellow, only for his hopes to be crushed when he started laughing at his misery.
“I know this guy. He groped (Y/N) did he not?” Salvador cracked a rare smile, walking up to the male on the floor and landing a powerful kick to his gut.
Blood gurgled out his mouth, eyes wide as he stared up at both of the devils with fear.
Marcelle scoffed, nodding his head as he placed his foot on his head, applying pressure on hid frontal lobe until it exploded.
Making a mess of blood and brains under his black boot, even after death Marcelle had decided he hadn’t had enough though.
Lifting his leg he stomped down on his head, over and over. And over. And over again.
The deceased man’s face was unrecognizable, being pulverized into the soil as only remnants of skin and meat suggested there was a head on his body once.
Marcelle ripped his name off his uniform, taking out his lighter and burning it.
Salvador threw his own body next to the headless corpse, nudging it with his foot lightly before spitting on the corpses.
“Let’s go. (Y/N) is waiting for us.” Marcelle mumbled, eyeing the bodies one last time before leaving.
You enjoyed your lunch with both the soldiers. But you couldn’t help but notice the slight red tint to Marcelle’s usually honey blonde hair. The red under Salvador’s nails scared you, but you just figured they must have hurt themselves.
You tried to ignore the insanity behind the pair’s eyes as they stared at you, they were looking at you as if they had placed their hearts on silver platters and were waiting for you to take them.
You just smiled, thinking it was just your mind playing tricks on you from exhaustion. Sadly that wasn’t the case. ♡

mechanic sevika
ty for requesting @sunflowerwinds ILY
a/n: i only know basics about cars so here's something that actually happened to my shit ass car LMAO
INSPIRED BY THIS
while you were pulling out of the parking lot from your weekly errands, you heard some sputtering from your car
it freaked you out a little bit, but then it went away so you ignored it for now
then the battery icon popped up
pulling into an auto parts shop, you had the cashier check your battery only to see coolant splashed all over the place
he said that your battery was fine, but your serpentine belt had snapped
whatever that meant
you felt nauseous, worried about how much this was going to cost
not to mention that most mechanics were shutting down for the night
the guy offered to take you home in his car in a flirty way, which was disgusting since he was well into his 60s, MAYBE 70s and ugly as fuck
as you backed away from him and gripped your car door handle, she appeared
like your knight in a shining jumpsuit
"we already chatted earlier, she's coming over to my shop to get her car fixed, she doesn't need a ride," she said firmly, wrapping an arm around your shoulders as she walked up from behind you
she had heard everything in the store and the story you rambled out, figuring out the problem pretty quickly
she also knew the owner was a bit of a creep
the owner quickly nodded and scurried back inside with his equipment
you deflated with a sigh of relief, but still needed your goddamn car fixed
"thanks, i definitely didn't want to get in a car with him..."
"no problem sweetheart, and i was serious about taking your car in. i got my truck right here and my shop is just up the street." she offered and respectfully took her arm off your shoulders, the two fo you now facing each other
your eyes widened as you shook your head and started stuttering, "oh i couldn't its probably past your working hours and i don't want to be an inconvenience-"
she chuckled and held up a hand to stop your rambles, "it's fine doll. i was planning on working late anyways and your belt's an easy fix, you’ll be in and out in half an hour."
you thought it over in your head and accepted her offer, grabbing your essentials out of your car before she hooked yours up to her bright red truck
she opened the passenger door for you and offered her hand, which you happily took as you climbed up the tall truck
she had a pair of fuzzy dice hanging over the central mirror and the truck had a smell of stale cigarettes and weed despite the (probably old) air freshener hanging in the middle of the dice
the seat covers were leopard printed and faded, but added to the overall charm of the car
the two of you sat in a semi-awkward silence as the radio played old divorce dad rock
as sevika backed up your car into the garage with her arm reaching around the back of your seat, you had to ignore the blush that was creeping up you cheeks
you hopped out of her truck as she unhooked your car, parking hers out into the parking lot
pacing in the lobby and glancing at the window to the garage to see her working on your car, wiping her forehead with the back of her hand
if you weren’t so stressed about your car you would’ve taken time to appreciate how hot she looked more
sevika walked into the lobby with a reassuring smile once she was done and wiped her hands off with a grimy towel, “should be good as new sweetheart.”
she grabbed a post-it note off of her desk and scribbed her number down onto it, holding it out to you across the counter after you paid for the part, “call me if you have any other problems with your car.”
“could i call you just because i want to,” you blurted out before you could even process what you were saying, a deep flush covering your cheeks
sevika raised her eyebrows and smirked, rubbing her chin with a crooked finger, “ ‘course doll, i’d love that.”
you aimlessly nodded and smiled, bumping into the doorframe on your way out to your newly fixed car
driving home, you couldn’t help but hope that you broke down on the side of the road
a/n: WHO WANTS A FUCKED ON HER TRUCK AFTER HOURS FIC‼️‼️‼️

Behind the scene's - enhypen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-you and enhypen as actors
Lee heeseung - 이희승
The scene had just wrapped up, and the director called "cut." Heeseung gently set the little girl down, who had been happily straddling his waist as they filmed the family scene in the kitchen. You had just walked in from behind, slipping your arms around his waist to create the perfect family shot, completing the image of a loving, picture-perfect couple.
As soon as the cameras stopped rolling, you and Heeseung found yourselves completely taken by the little girl’s infectious laughter. She tugged at Heeseung’s shirt, and he crouched down, lifting her again into the air with a playful grin. You couldn’t help but join in, making silly faces to keep her entertained, forgetting for a moment that this was just a set, just a role. The kitchen echoed with the sound of her giggles as Heeseung swung her around gently, and you clapped along, beaming at the adorable sight.
Unbeknownst to you both, a camera in the corner was still rolling, capturing every sweet, candid moment. Heeseung’s eyes sparkled as he looked at you, a soft smile playing on his lips as the little girl nestled her head into the crook of his neck. He then turned to you, still holding the child, and you both shared a warm, silent moment, the kind that seemed to erase the boundaries between your characters and who you really were.
As the day ended and you two wrapped up, the crew packed away equipment, and you thought nothing more of the playful exchange. But the following morning, social media was buzzing. Fans couldn’t stop talking about the unplanned footage that had somehow made its way online. Comments flooded in about the “perfect family” chemistry, with fans shipping you and Heeseung nonstop, speculating on the sparkling tension they had always hoped was real.
Everywhere you looked, there were clips of you and Heeseung laughing, playing with the child, and sharing those quiet, tender moments that seemed to blur the line between acting and something more. The fans had latched onto it, making the video go viral. And as much as you both laughed it off, there was something in those moments that even you couldn’t deny.
Park jongseong - 박종성
The set was buzzing with action as the directors and film photographers were prepared for the next scene. You and Jay had been cast in the lead roles of an upcoming romcom, and the directors were beyond pleased with how effortlessly the two of you brought the characters to life. The chemistry between you and Jay was undeniable, so much so that they often allowed you to improvise, trusting that whatever you did would be perfect.
Today’s scene involved you accidentally falling into a pool, and Jay’s character rushing to help you out. The water was chilly, and as you splashed in, the shock of the cold made you gasp. Jay, ever the professional, stayed in character, but the moment the director called “cut,” he was by your side, concern etched on his face.
“Are you okay?” Jay asked, his voice soft and filled with genuine care. Before you could even answer, he had already grabbed a towel, wrapping it around you to keep you warm.
You smiled at his attentiveness, “I’m fine, really. Just a bit of a shock.”
Jay didn’t seem entirely convinced, but he let it slide, gently rubbing your arms through the towel to warm you up. It wasn’t just during scenes that he was like this—his care extended far beyond what the cameras captured. Whether it was making sure you had eaten, asking if you were comfortable with a scene, or whispering reassuring words during more intimate moments, Jay’s concern was always there.
Later in the day, as you prepared for a kissing scene, Jay leaned in close, his breath tickling your ear. “You’re doing great,” he whispered, his voice steadying you in the moment. It was something he always did, a little ritual that had become a comforting routine.
The camera rolled, capturing the perfect chemistry between your characters, but it was the unspoken connection between you and Jay that made the scene so real. Fans would see the spark on screen, but they had no idea just how deep that connection ran off camera as well.
As the day ended, and you both headed back to your trailers, you couldn’t help but feel grateful for Jay’s presence in your life. On-screen, your characters were falling in love, but off-screen, it was the unwavering support and care that made everything feel just right.
Sim jaeyun - 심재윤
The set has just gotten quiet after some busy time preparing for another take of what was supposed to be a serious, emotionally charged scene. You and Jake Sim had been cast as the second leads in this ongoing romcom, and from the moment you met, the chemistry between you two was undeniable. But while your on-screen roles required a more somber, intense dynamic, behind the scenes, it was a completely different story.
The director called for action, and you both got into position, trying to channel the gravity of the moment. Jake's character was supposed to deliver a heartfelt confession, and you were meant to react with a mix of shock and sadness. But as Jake took a deep breath to start his line, you noticed the tiniest twitch in the corner of his mouth, and that was all it took.
The serious expression you'd been struggling to maintain crumbled as a giggle escaped your lips. Jake tried to keep his composure, but the sound of your laughter set him off too. He quickly turned his head away, biting his lip to stop the smile threatening to break through. But it was no use—his shoulders started shaking, and soon enough, he was laughing right along with you.
"Cut!" The director's voice rang out, but it was tinged with a hint of amusement rather than frustration. It was the tenth take, and somehow, you still couldn’t get through the scene without one of you cracking up.
You tried to pull yourself together, wiping the tears from your eyes as you wheezed from laughing so hard. “Okay, okay, we can do this,” you managed to say between breaths, though the look on Jake’s face suggested he wasn’t convinced.
“Right, super serious this time,” Jake agreed, but the mischievous glint in his eye said otherwise.
The crew, by this point, had given up on you two. They knew the drill—any scene that involved both of you would inevitably lead to some kind of behind-the-scenes blooper. Your fans had even coined the nickname "Dumb and Dumber" for the two of you, not because you were actually dumb, but because of the sheer amount of goofiness that happened whenever you were together.
The director sighed, though there was a smile playing at the corners of his lips. “Alright, take 11, and please, try to focus this time.”
You and Jake exchanged a quick glance, both of you trying to put on your most serious faces, but it only took a split second before you burst into laughter again, this time leaning on each other for support as you tried to catch your breath.
The director threw his hands up in defeat. “You know what? We’ll take a break. Go get some water, calm down, and we’ll try again in ten minutes.”
As the crew dispersed for a break, you and Jake were still chuckling, completely unable to stop. “We are never going to get through this scene, are we?” you asked, grinning at him.
Jake shook his head, still smiling. “Probably not. But hey, at least we’re having fun, right?”
The truth was, while your characters were caught in the middle of a dramatic love triangle, behind the scenes, you and Jake were just two people enjoying each other’s company, full of youth and laughter. And maybe that was why your chemistry worked so well—it was real, and everyone could see it, whether you were in front of the camera or not.
Park sunghoon - 박성훈
It was quiet as everyone prepared for one of the most emotional scenes in the project. You and Sunghoon had been cast as the main characters in, ever since you both been casted as the cast your chemistry sparked truly undeniable from the start. Sunghoon, known for his introverted and well-put-together persona, had gradually shown a more playful and goofy side around you. It was a side of him that most people, especially his fans, rarely saw.
Today’s scene was intense. Sunghoon’s character had just been shot, and your character had to discover him, break down, and hold him in your arms as the realization of his injury hit you. You were both fully in character, the atmosphere heavy with emotion as the camera began to roll.
Sunghoon lay on the floor, his body limp and eyes closed, as you knelt beside him, cradling his upper body in your lap. The heartbreak in your character’s eyes was palpable, and you felt the tears well up as you delivered your lines with raw emotion.
“Why did this have to happen to you?” you whispered, voice trembling as you stroked his hair, the anguish in your tone making everyone on set hold their breath. You were so lost in the role, the tears streaming down your face, that you didn’t even notice the small drop of snot that escaped, landing squarely on Sunghoon’s cheek.
Sunghoon, ever the clean freak, would normally have been mortified by something like this. But in that moment, as you held him close, he didn’t even flinch. He remained perfectly still, completely in character, even though he was fully aware of what had just happened. It was as if, for him, it was no big deal—just part of the scene, part of being in the moment with you.
The scene continued, your performance flawless, your grief palpable as you held him tighter. Finally, the director called cut, and you stayed in your role for a few moments longer, letting the emotion settle before you realized what had just happened.
Your eyes widened in horror as you saw the drop of snot on Sunghoon’s cheek, realizing you had been so into the scene that you hadn’t noticed. “Oh my god, Sunghoon, I’m so sorry!” you exclaimed, your face flushing with embarrassment as you scrambled to grab a tissue.
But Sunghoon just chuckled softly, his usual reserved demeanor replaced with a gentle smile. “It’s fine,” he said calmly, sitting up and wiping his cheek with the back of his hand. “Really, don’t worry about it.”
You were still mortified, your hands covering your face as you mumbled, “I can’t believe that happened. I’m so embarrassed.”
Sunghoon shook his head, his expression kind. “It’s not a big deal. You were amazing in that scene. It’s just… part of the job, right?”
You looked up at him, surprised by how unfazed he was. Sunghoon, who was usually so meticulous and careful about everything, had just brushed off something that would have bothered anyone else. It made you realize just how comfortable he had become around you, how much he had let his guard down.
“Thanks, Sunghoon,” you said softly, feeling a warmth in your chest at his words.
He smiled at you, the goofy side he reserved only for his friends peeking through as he teased, “Just try not to cry on me too much next time.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, the tension easing as you realized that this was just another moment that had brought you two closer together, both on and off the screen. The chemistry between you was undeniable, and it wasn’t just the characters you played—it was real, and it made every scene, even the bloopers, that much more special.
Kim sunoo - 김순우
After a long day of filming, you and Sunoo finally retreated to the cozy behind-the-scenes area, a place where you could both relax and shake off the intensity of being in front of the camera. The scene you had just wrapped up required Sunoo to act extra cute to win over your character’s approval. He absolutely nailed it, putting on an adorable performance that had everyone on set cooing and melting at his charm.
As soon as you were out of sight of the crew, you couldn’t help but start teasing him about it.
“You were so cute back there, Sunoo!” you teased, nudging him playfully. The way he had scrunched his nose and widened his eyes in the scene was still fresh in your mind, and you couldn’t resist poking fun at him for it.
Sunoo pouted, clearly trying to maintain his cool persona, though the slight blush on his cheeks gave him away. “I wasn’t trying to be cute,” he muttered, his voice laced with a mix of pride and embarrassment. “I was just… doing my job.”
“Sure, sure,” you replied with a grin, leaning in closer as if sharing a secret. “But you know what? You’re always cute, even when you’re trying to be all serious and cool.”
He huffed, crossing his arms over his chest in an exaggerated display of defiance. “I can be cool too, you know! I’m not just cute,” he insisted, his tone almost desperate to convince you—or maybe even himself.
You couldn’t help but laugh softly at his attempt to sound tough. There was something inherently endearing about the way he tried to be serious, only for his natural charm to seep through. “Oh really? Show me your cool side then,” you challenged, raising an eyebrow and smirking, genuinely curious to see how he’d pull it off.
Sunoo straightened up, determination flashing in his eyes. He adopted what he probably thought was a serious, stoic expression, narrowing his eyes slightly and gazing off into the distance as if he were contemplating something profound. For a moment, he really did look kind of cool—until his lips twitched, betraying the small smile he was trying to suppress.
You burst out laughing, the sound filling the small space, and Sunoo’s faux-cool demeanor crumbled almost immediately. He sighed in defeat, dropping the act and giving you an exaggeratedly exasperated look.
“See? You’re teasing me again,” he complained, though there was no real heat behind his words. Instead, his eyes sparkled with amusement, his frustration mingling with fondness.
“You make it too easy,” you shot back, still giggling. “You’re just too cute to take seriously sometimes.”
Before Sunoo could reply, you both noticed something out of the corner of your eyes. The camera crew, who you thought had packed up for the day, were still lingering nearby, capturing the entire exchange. Sunoo’s eyes widened in mortification, and he quickly turned to you with an exaggerated glare, his cheeks flushing deeper.
“This is your fault,” he whispered harshly, though his voice was tinged with laughter.
You couldn’t help but grin wider, reaching over to ruffle his perfectly styled hair, knowing it would only add to his playful annoyance. “Hey, you’re the one who’s just naturally cute. Can’t blame me for pointing it out.”
Sunoo tried to look annoyed, but the smile he was trying so hard to suppress finally broke free, lighting up his face. He let out a resigned sigh, though it was clear he wasn’t actually upset.
“Maybe I should try being cute on purpose more often,” he mused, half-joking.
You chuckled, leaning back in your seat. “If you do, just know I’ll be here to tease you every step of the way.”
He shook his head, finally giving in and laughing along with you. Even when he wanted to act cool, his cute side always seemed to shine through, especially around you. And honestly, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Yang jungwon - 양중원
The set was buzzing with activity as the crew scrambled to address the unexpected issue. The scene, where you and Jungwon were supposed to be hiding from a horde of zombies, had taken an unexpected turn. Both of you were covered in fake blood, and in the midst of the suspenseful scene, you found yourselves actually stuck in the cabinet you were supposed to be using for cover.
The initial realization hit you with a rush of panic. Your heart raced, and you could feel the walls of the cramped space closing in. The claustrophobia was starting to overwhelm you, and you took a shaky breath, trying to keep calm.
Jungwon noticed immediately. His hand reached out to yours, offering a comforting squeeze. "Hey, it’s okay. We’re just temporarily stuck in here. You’re doing great," he said, his voice calm and reassuring.
Despite the situation, a little chuckle escaped you, and Jungwon’s comforting presence helped ease the tension. "Yeah, just a little unplanned 'close' encounter," you joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Jungwon's eyes sparkled with amusement as he grinned. "I guess we’re really committed to our roles if we’re this immersed in them," he quipped. "If only the zombies could see us now, they'd be laughing too."
Your nervous laughter mingled with Jungwon’s, and the humor of the situation began to replace your anxiety. "At least we’re in this together," you said, giving his hand a grateful squeeze.
"Always," Jungwon replied softly. "We make a great team, on and off screen."
As the crew finally managed to get the cabinet open, freeing both of you from your temporary confinement, you felt a surge of relief. Jungwon’s presence had turned what could have been a terrifying experience into a moment of connection and support. His ability to ease your fears and share a laugh, even in the midst of an intense scene, made you realize that his role in your life extended far beyond that of a co-actor.
Ni- ki -남편
On set, the atmosphere was buzzing with activity as the crew prepared for the next scene. You and Ni-ki, who had a well-known frenemy dynamic off-camera, were getting ready for a scene where you had to act as though you were deeply in love. The role required a lot of emotional intensity, which you both managed to convey convincingly, despite your off-screen rivalry.
As the day progressed, the director gathered everyone for a brief meeting. With a grin on his face, he approached you and Ni-ki, who were standing together in a corner, looking slightly apprehensive.
“Hey, you two,” the director began, “I wanted to share some exciting news with you. We’ve been getting a ton of positive feedback about your on-screen chemistry. Fans are raving about how believable and intense your scenes together are.”
You and Ni-ki exchanged a quick, amused glance. Despite your frenemy status, you both knew how to deliver a compelling performance together. The director’s praise was met with a mixture of surprise and mock disgust.
“Seriously? Us?” you asked, raising an eyebrow with a playful smirk. “I thought we were just good at pretending to be in love.”
“Yeah, pretending,” Ni-ki added with a teasing tone. “We must be really convincing, huh? Maybe it’s our secret talent.”
The director chuckled, nodding. “It seems like your dynamic really works on screen. People love the way you interact, even if you’re just acting. It’s great to see that kind of chemistry translate so well.”
You both laughed, leaning into the joke. “Well, if we can fool the fans into thinking we’re madly in love, I guess we’re doing something right,” Ni-ki said, playfully rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, but don’t get any ideas,” you added with a grin. “We might be able to act like we’re in love, but off-screen, we’re still frenemies.”
The director smiled, clearly enjoying the playful banter between you two. “Keep up the great work. It’s making a real impact.”
As the meeting wrapped up, you and Ni-ki exchanged another glance, both of you trying to stifle your laughter. Despite your playful disdain for each other off-camera, it was clear that your on-screen chemistry was hitting all the right notes, much to the delight of your fans.
“Guess we’ll just have to keep up the act,” Ni-ki said, shaking his head with a smirk.
“Yep, just don’t expect me to be all lovey-dovey with you when the cameras aren’t rolling,” you replied, chuckling as you both headed back to your respective places on set.
The playful banter and fake disgust were all part of the fun, proving that even frenemies could make a great team when it came to delivering memorable performances.

Tumblr media
In the past few years, the definition of fun has changed by leaps and bounds for commercial builders. Kids zooming around, giggling, and getting drenched while the adults are having fun, right? Well, having a splash pad with water shooters can do it for you! Instead of staring at computer screens, these bad boys get the muscles moving. It's like a mini workout disguised as fun! And while they are busy having a blast, they are also fine-tuning their coordination and balance. Who knew staying active could be this cool?
More Social Interaction
Have you ever seen a water battle going down at a splash pad? If the answer is yes, you probably already know, that it’s like a scene straight out of an action movie! Water shooters aren't just for solo missions; they are all about teamwork and camaraderie. Whether it's teaming up to hit targets or engaging in friendly water duels, these nifty gadgets bring kids together like nothing else. And hey, sharing a laugh and diving into splash pads with water shooters builds friendships that last a lifetime!
Stimulating Imaginative Play
Prepare to enter a world of make-believe, where anything is possible! With water shooters in hand, kids transform into fearless pirates defending their ships or brave firefighters battling imaginary flames. It's a creativity explosion! And the best part? This imaginative play isn't just for kicks – it's a brain-boosting adventure that hones problem-solving skills and fuels storytelling dreams.
Refreshing Relief
When the sun's blazing hot, water shooters are your ticket to cool, refreshing fun! As kids splash and play, they don’t just have the time of their lives; they also stay hydrated and beat the heat like champs. Bid adieu to sweaty afternoons and hello to endless hours of refreshing relief because splash pads with water shooters are designed to do so.
The Bottom Line
Gone are the days when you had to find the right supplier for water shooters in your nearest brick-and-mortar location. Now, depending on your budget, the theme and idea of the spray park, and of course, your space constraints and audience demands, you can get interactive water play features online at Empex Watertoys®. No matter if you are setting up a large-scale water playground, or a small one just for recreational purposes, you can always get interactive water features from us and set up your spray park without any hiccups.

Imagine Miguel Feeling Guilty For Accidentally Scratching You
Tumblr media
Miguel “Spider-Man 2099″ O’Hara X FemReader
Rating: T+
Warnings: Blood, Miguel has nightmares, suggestive themes, slightly spoiler-y, steamy
Word Count: 1k
(A/N:) I wasn’t expecting to go see Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse and leaving with a new crush. But here we are and I could not NOT write something for Miguel. Yep count me amongst the fangirls. So here is my offering to this specimen of a Spider-Man (I’m pretty sure it’s the fangs and claws. I’m a sucker for those not gonna even lie.). Hope the rest of the fangirls enjoy it! Until next time happy reading! ~Countess
Mild Spoilers Below for Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse
Miguel’s story broke your heart the first time he had finally opened up and told you. It’s what broke the ice that remained between you both and let your relationship move a little further along. Deep down you knew you could never replace the family he once had and you never wanted to. But you did want to help him through the pain and find joy once again. Though life brought bitterness there was light in every situation. You wanted to be that light for Miguel.
You stroked your fingers through his hair as Miguel let himself be lulled into sleep. He’d been restless here lately and he couldn’t sleep well. He put so much pressure upon himself that you were afraid it would drive him mad. The exhaustion wasn’t helping him either as the bags under his eyes only deepened. Plagued by nightmares, you had to beg for Miguel to try and get some rest. He finally; but begrudgingly, gave in and now he found himself wrapped up in your warmth floating away as sleep began to drag him under. You continued to stroke his hair, until you too fell asleep.
Miguel felt himself in a familiar place, his family playing and laughing in the park he brought them to regularly. His daughter scampering around, her giggles echoing in the air. He turned around, taking it all in when the world shattered around him with the sound of screams. Blood splashed the playground equipment and once again his family was gone. He held the lifeless form of his little girl, screaming his pain and anguish to the darkening sky.
Miguel thrashed, waking you from your slumber. His claws and fangs glinting in the moonlight. Without thinking of your own safety you grabbed onto the struggling man. Pressing him tightly into your chest and calling out his name.
“Miguel,” you called while tears trailed down your cheeks. “Please wake up it’s a dream!”
He snarled before jolting awake, finding you in the darkness. With his cheek pressed against your breast, his chest heaved as his sweat soaked into your shirt. Though he couldn’t see your face he could smell the salty tears of your grief in the air.
“I’m alright now,” he grunted trying to pull away but you wouldn’t allow him.
“Stop for a minute,” you ordered. “Just relax and then I’ll let you go.”
He gave in, letting himself lay in your arms while listening to your steady heartbeat. With your soothing pulse, he began to calm down. When you were finally satisfied you loosened your hold. Miguel couldn’t see your face, but the tension was evident in the stiffness of your body.
“Bad dream,” he said before reaching for the lamp.
You grabbed his hand, stopping him from turning on the light. If he saw what he had done to your cheek, it would only make the situation worse.
“What’s wrong,” he asked while trying to free himself from your grasp.
“We don’t need the light on,” you replied. “Just try to go back to sleep. You’re exhausted Miguel.”
“I can’t right now, just let me turn the light on.”
You still held tightly, causing a slight twinge of annoyance to shoot through Miguel, until he scented a twinge of blood in the air. The metallic tang was unmistakable and his heart sank. Using his strength he ripped away from your grip and switched on the lamp. The light revealing what you didn’t want him to see. Your cheek had three slices in the skin, the wounds dribbling blood. Though not life threatening, Miguel felt guilt crushing him. He never wanted to hurt you with his powers and he feared he had just scarred you because he couldn’t control his mind. Reaching up he smeared away the crimson, only streaking it worse on your beautiful skin.
“Why didn’t you tell me,” Miguel growled the rage at himself barely contained.
“Cause I knew you would torture yourself with guilt,” you sighed.
“I’m a monster.”
You sighed again, “Here we go again. You are not a monster.”
You cupped his cheeks, making Miguel look you in the eye. His eyes darted from yours back to the wounds he caused, still dripping blood.
“You are my handsome Miguel O’Hara and these,” you pointed to your face, “will heal. Stop beating yourself up and get some rest you’re going to kill yourself if you don’t.”
He finally relented knowing that you were right. He was tired of feeling so burdened and weighed down by his failures. He removed the distance between you both and captured your lips with his. You melted against him, his large arms encircling your figure, letting him press you against him. Miguel grew desperate at your taste as he couldn’t get enough. His fangs elongated in his excitement, eyes drawn towards your wound once more. You were about to tell him forget it when his tongue darted out quickly, lapping at your blood. You shivered at the  caress of his tongue against the skin of your cheek. But with his help the blood finally stopped.
Before you could thank him, Miguel captured your mouth once again. Letting himself fall into the trance that only you could bring. He moaned laying you back down without breaking apart from you. You held tightly, letting him do whatever he needed to ease himself back down. You buried your fingers in his thick hair, scratching at his scalp. Miguel deserved so much love as he had lost so much and you wanted to be that person for him. You kissed him back, not wanting him to do all the work until once again he was satisfied. Without a word he collapsed back on his side of the bed, his chest heaving. You nuzzled in closer, laying your head on his bare chest. Your body heat and gentle touches finally had Miguel falling back into sleep. The only difference this time was the nightmares left him alone this time, letting him get the much needed sleep he needed.

A BTAS style title card for the DP reboot/au that lives in my head rent free
if I were in charge of a DP animation reboot and I had an unlimited budget, I would make significant and meaningful style changes. The basic change: everything that happens in the 'human world' would be black and white, and only the ghosts would be in color.
for more details, keep reading!
I've been calling it the "Pleasantville AU" in my head, though it's really not an AU as much as a lore-relevant stylistic overhaul reboot.
Humans and everything in the human world is black and white; ghosts are full technicolor
Danny, as a halfa, is still mostly black and white, but his eyes are green and his skin is. Skin colored idk. (Also black sclera because it's cool shh this is my fantasy reboot au)
The more powerful a ghost is, the more colorful it is. Moreover, the most powerful ghosts are capable of changing their coloration to "hide" in the human realm
Humans can't see colors well, and most recording equipment can't "capture" the image of a ghost well. You need special equipment to see them clearly and special cameras to photograph them
Places where ghosts have had a prolonged presence or big impact start to "bleed" colors. If you get wounded by the ghost, you get splashed with color (will fade to white "if you take care of it")
The Guys In White find these colorful, ghost-touched areas and "clean"/bleach them
The longer Danny hides, the more his presence in Amity Park starts to affect things
I didn't love the "Sam is responsible for Danny getting ghost powers" storyline in the OG, so in the reboot Danny was alone when he had his accident and he didn't tell anyone. He thinks he's a straight up ghost/is becoming a ghost and will eventually become evil (in this au becoming a ghost is thought to be a long term process a la vampirism. This isn't actually the case but I love "bad scientist Fentons" so that's their prevailing theory)
(He'll tell them eventually but I love identity shenanigans so I think it's more interesting if he hides it from them for a bit while also interacting with them as Phantom on occasion)
Oh yeah, because Phantom is mostly black and white, he's the first ghost that a lot of people are able to see.
His coloration is the driving force for the Fentons to declare him "the worst ghost", because they accuse him of trying to pretend to be human.
His coloration is a big reason why other ghosts dislike/distrust him, too, because he looks too human
The Vlad is a halfa reveal happens way later and way differently in this reboot; Danny meets him and knows he's "ecto-touched", but the Vlad = Plasmius moment would have more impact if Danny has had interactions with Vlad before, imo. Anyway I have Plans(TM) for Vlad but I'll leave it at that for now😏

Coming Home
Hello Lovelies! Thank y'all so much for the support and love the past day! I have decided to write a little quick Folio Fic! Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
18+ warning
CW: [implied unprotected p in v but no descriptive details, drinking, fluffy fluff, smooching, longing]
It started like any other day when Folio was home, a quick morning text letting you know he was finally home after a long touring schedule. Not only was Nick your best friend, but you lived in the same rural neighborhood. You spent your summer days riding bikes throughout the twists and turns of neighboring streets. You spent the evenings watching Folio play drums in local bands in concrete basements, ears ringing for days afterwards. Winters were spent surrounding bonfires, wrapped in blankets and reliving old times together.
One by one each friend left your hometown but Folio stayed, except when it came to touring, recording, and anything else Bad Omens. So when the opportunity came to spend time with him, you always jumped on it.
And what did he want to do? Go fish...
Equipped with fishing poles, his dad's truck, and a cooler full of Natty Boh's, Folio arrived bright and early like he said he would.
The river was a short drive from your neighborhood. You sat in the passenger seat while Folio took all the familiar turns. At the end of a long road, that had since turned into dirt from asphalt, Folio pulled to the side. The sound of the parking break indicated it was time to gear up. You opened the familiar creaking door, moving to the now open truck bed. You reluctantly accepted the wader pants, earning a small chuckle from Folio's lips.
"The last time you complained about the leeches for hours, y/n," Folio said looking down at the pants then into your eyes.
You practically melted at his chocolate brown eyes, nodding your head as you begun pulling the waders over your leggings.
Once geared up you both trekked through the woods on a barely-there path, but you both knew exactly where you were going. At the rivers edge, you cracked open a beer, prepared your fishing poles, and waded out into the flowing river.
"I reckon I'll catch the biggest fish this time," You teased as you both cast out your lures. Folio chose a simple blue spinner lure, while you opted for a rainbow jerkbait.
Hours passed by as you both cast out lines, reeled in, and repeated. A few small bluefish made their ways onto your hooks, nothing noteworthy. The trout Folio caught was small and did not meet regulation to keep.
Despite the lack of fish, you both had fun. You earned a few splashes from Folio when you cast your line too close to his, he didn't want you to steal his prize fish. You splashed him when his back turned to you, earning a scold from him that you 'scared the fish away' when his line came up empty once again.
After another hour or so more, you both waded your way to shore to sit on the bank and drink a few beers. The sun had begun to set casting deep shadows from the trees. You both sat silently, enjoying each other's company. Every so often you caught Folio's eyes light up when looking at you, earning a shy smile and blush as he quickly looked away. It all just felt right. You loved his goofy smile, the way his face was so expressive even in simple moments like this.
When dusk settled, you both packed up your gear walking back to the truck. In the cover of the trees it was almost impossible not to trip over fallen branches and tree roots. When you made it back to the truck it took all but a few minutes to wiggle out of the waders. Although, Folio caught you when you tripped taking your left foot out. You caught his gaze, mere inches from his beautiful face. His eyes now as dark as the night creeping its way in. His nose ring catching the last light that was left behind.
Then his lips crashed into yours, it was slow but hungry. It started as just lips, and then teeth, and then tongue. The kiss grew urgent, hungry. Your body electrified, it had been so long since you imagined what it would be like to be Folio's. You gave up on that idea long ago when Folio wanted to pursue his dreams.
One shirt came off, then another, one bra, then pants were on the ground. You both had made your way into the backseat of the truck driven by a string you both knew was there. Folio took his time, sneaking glances into your eyes to make sure every move he made was ok, was right.
Fingers snaked under the bands of underwear, both cast aside somewhere in the front seat of the truck. The windows had begun to fog from the pure ecstasy of two friends exploring the deepest parts of themselves for the first time.
The silent night was filled with breathless moans; small gasps when the right spot was found. Pleasure was building slowly, powerfully running between the two of you. And then it was over as fast as it had started, ending in small screams of the others' names. You both clothed quickly, knowing you had already missed the opportunity to eat a hot dinner around your dining table.
Folio drove home, taking the familiar turns once more before pulling in front of your house. Lights illuminated his eyes, which you caught one more time before opening the door and going home.
If you had looked back, you would have noticed Folio's stare lingered on the back of your head for a moment too long. He wanted to say something, but he knew it wasn't the right time.
He would always come home.

Hope you enjoyed :)

P.
One of the best things about being married to a PIC is that he almost always has a sub for Sanders. When Sanders calls in at six in the morning with another case of the flu from her kids, Matt doesn’t have to stress. Sylvie’s literally a nudge away and always more than willing to help him out.
She’s better than some floater and of course he has another reason for always suggesting her name. He loves working with her. He really enjoys operating under the same house together again. Especially because his off time is always much more fun when she’s around.
Half the time, they shamelessly make out in his office, but he’s earned that. He spent enough time without her during the long distance.
Matt truly loves having her around at work but sometimes, he regrets his offer. Sometimes, he unintentionally puts her in a dangerous situation. A situation that turns his blood to ice.
This is that situation.
He and his crew had been on the way back from a small self set fire in an alley. It was a simple hose down that didn’t take them longer than ten minutes to put out. Afterwards, they loaded into the truck to head back to the station.
However, they were rerouted when Jones, the less experienced paramedic at his firehouse, came over the intercom. She frantically told him how the ambulance witnessed an accident. A car apparently lost control and veered off the road, coasting down a slight mountain, crossing a fairly busy hiking trail before plummeting into the Willamette river.
That information wasn’t positive, but it wasn’t necessarily urgent either. Accidents happen all the time and whatever squad truck is closest would respond. He doesn’t have the equipment needed for that rescue, but he does have a wife.
He has a wife who goes above and beyond in her job. He’s married to a selfless hero who to his absolute horror, dove into the river herself to try and remove the driver.
Sylvie’s in rough waters without the proper gear and that makes him wish he just let her sleep in and found a different sub.
They get to the scene in record time. His crew member Tim has a lead foot which came in handy for this type of situation. He gets to Sylvie and her partner within five minutes of the call.
Tim hasn’t even parked the rig on the edge of the road before Matt is jumping out and running for the riverbank. The terrain is uneven, but he makes it to the paved trail. Sylvie must have parked the ambulance here, so she was close to the patient.
He doesn’t see anyone aside from the crowd of hikers gathered around, watching the water.
“Sylvie! Jones!”
“Down here!”
It’s not his wife’s voice who calls back to him and he tries not to think about what that could mean as he skids down towards the rocky riverbank.
Jones is crouched on the edge, looking out towards the water. It’s pretty calm today aside from the giant red SUV sinking towards the bottom. Matt can just barely see the top of the car.
“She hasn’t come up,” Jones says. “I told her not to jump in. I told her to wait for a rescue crew.”
Oh god.
He shrugs off his turnout coat and slides his suspenders down each shoulder. The less weight he has on, the easier it’ll be to get Sylvie out of the water.
“How long has she been under?”
Jones glances at him, tears shinning in her brown eyes. This is only her first year on the job and she looks as young as she probably feels. “Almost four minutes. The driver never resurfaced. She thought he was probably unconscious which is why she wouldn’t wait.”
He’s not surprised. Sylvie’s not the type to sit on the sideline even if he really wished she would. He wishes she was dry and safe on land.
He’s about to kick off his boots when he hears commotion in the water. Splashing and gasping.
It’s his wife.
Sylvie’s barely able to keep her head above the water with the weight of the teenage boy she’s holding up.
“A little help over here!” She cries, taking in water.
He springs into action, leaning as close as he can to the edge with his arms out. “I got you, Sylvie.”
She pushes her way closer, dragging the victim with her. “Get the kid. Please help him, Matt.”
He wants to help her.
“I need help down here,” Jones tells his crew. “Grab a backboard!”
Matt snags the kid’s t-shirt material and pulls him upward, passing him along to Tim who gets him laid flat on the ground. Matt hears Jones announce the kid isn’t breathing and start CPR but he doesn’t offer his assistance.
He grabs Sylvie’s hand before her head completely submerges into the water.
“Come here, baby.” He gets his hands under her armpits and is able to pull her up in his arms with minimal struggle. Even soaking wet, Sylvie feels light in his grip.
Sylvie grabs on, digging her cold fingers into his neck. She’s shivering and panting against his cheek.
He honestly has no idea how she was able to extract a victim twice her size and swim him to safety on her own. He can tell she’s exhausted from her breathing and weak grip.
“Oh my god,” he mutters, kissing her cheek. “I can’t believe you jumped into unsafe waters like that.”
She laughs. “Like you wouldn’t have done the same thing. You have done the same thing.”
She has a slight point.

wow I totally forgot to post the fantastic dream i had this morning. I was having a really good Sparks dream and then got a phonecall from my aunt telling me extended family were coming over and being the only person home i needed to be the host, so it ended possibly before it ever even got to the meat and potatoes. but as it was...
I was with my family in our old family van, which is technically my car now, but back then it was the family van. anyway, here comes a recurring theme from many past Sparks dreams: the boys were set to play a venue close to my old hometown, so we needed to give them a lift for some reason, although I guess Russell already got to the venue so Ron was riding with us.
We got tremendously lost. I meant to tell my mom to circle around to a different parking lot to redirect us and instead we drove to like...a whale exhibit (?) and the whales were huge and splashing overhead with no glass or anything while we walked up a ramp to get to the next part of town. didn't make much sense but ron liked the whales. It was really surreal seeing him just sitting upright in a carseat i'd sat in many times, completely blasé to the whole situation as if he were just a random man we picked off the street. i always look at him then look away quickly in my dreams. he would sometimes reply to situations in a very drab and matter of fact way that we found amusing.
anyway, guess what our mystery venue was? my childhood church, although as is typically the case in dreams, it looked nothing like the real thing, yet by dream logic nothing seemed different. Russell plus the band's entourage were there setting up equipment, i think russell was kind of like "what took you so long?" as there were a lot of mishaps along the way (including us accidentally hitting a kid on his bike while parking but don't worry he was fine). I asked ron if he ever considered reversing their roles and doing the singing while russell played the keyboards. he said he could probably sing but russell only knows how to play one note on the keyboard. they both snickered at this. I do not know what this means.
in the church auditorium with my family + the audience, there was an opening act of a magic show that involved. eggs? it went on for too long and impressed nobody. And then there was like...a free-for-all act where we voted on Simpsons characters. I don't know either. this briefly fused into a family guy segment before we were like "its 11pm can we please get Sparks onstage" so we did. but i don't remember anything about the show and i'm not even sure there was a show, because for all the talk of playing and equipment, apparently tonight's event that we reserved tickets for was actually the premiere of a brand new sparks BIOPIC.
it opened with 70s-esque footage of a teenage girl talking into the camera from her bedroom reminiscing about the band from her perspective until "amateur hour" kicks in and pretty decent-looking actors portraying the boys are shown playing onstage during the 70s. i'm thinking, this is pretty cool, i always wondered if a movie like this would happen. and then...
through some sort of stylized shot transition, the band are being played by kittens, singing and prancing around onstage. russell doing all his usual movements but in feline form. Haha what a funny and oddly stylish bit, i'm thinking to myself. what a fun way of depicting their personalities. but it just...continues like that? punk russell in 1976 singing "i wanna be like everybody else" while twirling around with the microphone but as a kitten, thrashing about? everyone is laughing. it's so good.
the movie truly does continue on in this fashion yet for as confounding as its sudden shift in direction is, we become oddly immersed in its storytelling enough not to even notice the boys are still being played by kittens, in a stroke of auteuristic magic a la todd haynes' superstar: the karen carpenter story. a sequence depicting "girl chasing" in their younger years in the form of kittens climbing onto the legs of girls who are walking away from them up some stairs while they mew desperately has the audience both cackling and aww'ing. another scene that stands out is a roadie saying "you guys don't eat enough!" and putting both ron and russell kittens in a bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy.
I was under the impression ron and russ were really proud of the film and likely had direct involvement themselves, but had kept it so tightly under wraps that no one knew what was coming. I wish I could tell you more but then i got that phonecall.
