One of the best things about being married to a PIC is that he almost always has a sub for Sanders. When Sanders calls in at six in the morning with another case of the flu from her kids, Matt doesn’t have to stress. Sylvie’s literally a nudge away and always more than willing to help him out.
She’s better than some floater and of course he has another reason for always suggesting her name. He loves working with her. He really enjoys operating under the same house together again. Especially because his off time is always much more fun when she’s around.
Half the time, they shamelessly make out in his office, but he’s earned that. He spent enough time without her during the long distance.
Matt truly loves having her around at work but sometimes, he regrets his offer. Sometimes, he unintentionally puts her in a dangerous situation. A situation that turns his blood to ice.
This is that situation.
He and his crew had been on the way back from a small self set fire in an alley. It was a simple hose down that didn’t take them longer than ten minutes to put out. Afterwards, they loaded into the truck to head back to the station.
However, they were rerouted when Jones, the less experienced paramedic at his firehouse, came over the intercom. She frantically told him how the ambulance witnessed an accident. A car apparently lost control and veered off the road, coasting down a slight mountain, crossing a fairly busy hiking trail before plummeting into the Willamette river.
That information wasn’t positive, but it wasn’t necessarily urgent either. Accidents happen all the time and whatever squad truck is closest would respond. He doesn’t have the equipment needed for that rescue, but he does have a wife.
He has a wife who goes above and beyond in her job. He’s married to a selfless hero who to his absolute horror, dove into the river herself to try and remove the driver.
Sylvie’s in rough waters without the proper gear and that makes him wish he just let her sleep in and found a different sub.
They get to the scene in record time. His crew member Tim has a lead foot which came in handy for this type of situation. He gets to Sylvie and her partner within five minutes of the call.
Tim hasn’t even parked the rig on the edge of the road before Matt is jumping out and running for the riverbank. The terrain is uneven, but he makes it to the paved trail. Sylvie must have parked the ambulance here, so she was close to the patient.
He doesn’t see anyone aside from the crowd of hikers gathered around, watching the water.
“Sylvie! Jones!”
“Down here!”
It’s not his wife’s voice who calls back to him and he tries not to think about what that could mean as he skids down towards the rocky riverbank.
Jones is crouched on the edge, looking out towards the water. It’s pretty calm today aside from the giant red SUV sinking towards the bottom. Matt can just barely see the top of the car.
“She hasn’t come up,” Jones says. “I told her not to jump in. I told her to wait for a rescue crew.”
Oh god.
He shrugs off his turnout coat and slides his suspenders down each shoulder. The less weight he has on, the easier it’ll be to get Sylvie out of the water.
“How long has she been under?”
Jones glances at him, tears shinning in her brown eyes. This is only her first year on the job and she looks as young as she probably feels. “Almost four minutes. The driver never resurfaced. She thought he was probably unconscious which is why she wouldn’t wait.”
He’s not surprised. Sylvie’s not the type to sit on the sideline even if he really wished she would. He wishes she was dry and safe on land.
He’s about to kick off his boots when he hears commotion in the water. Splashing and gasping.
It’s his wife.
Sylvie’s barely able to keep her head above the water with the weight of the teenage boy she’s holding up.
“A little help over here!” She cries, taking in water.
He springs into action, leaning as close as he can to the edge with his arms out. “I got you, Sylvie.”
She pushes her way closer, dragging the victim with her. “Get the kid. Please help him, Matt.”
He wants to help her.
“I need help down here,” Jones tells his crew. “Grab a backboard!”
Matt snags the kid’s t-shirt material and pulls him upward, passing him along to Tim who gets him laid flat on the ground. Matt hears Jones announce the kid isn’t breathing and start CPR but he doesn’t offer his assistance.
He grabs Sylvie’s hand before her head completely submerges into the water.
“Come here, baby.” He gets his hands under her armpits and is able to pull her up in his arms with minimal struggle. Even soaking wet, Sylvie feels light in his grip.
Sylvie grabs on, digging her cold fingers into his neck. She’s shivering and panting against his cheek.
He honestly has no idea how she was able to extract a victim twice her size and swim him to safety on her own. He can tell she’s exhausted from her breathing and weak grip.
“Oh my god,” he mutters, kissing her cheek. “I can’t believe you jumped into unsafe waters like that.”
She laughs. “Like you wouldn’t have done the same thing. You have done the same thing.”
She has a slight point.

In the next 16 days we’re going to see a ring on Sylvie’s finger, a Brettsey family photo, and Sylvie wedding planning 🥹🥹🥹. Then in episode 4, we’re going to see Sylvie as Julia’s mom for the first time 😭😭😭. And when we get to see our babies actually get married, I will need 5-7 business days to form a coherent sentence again 🫠🫠🫠

Fans of GD have this idea of who she, this grand person, but she was human and very flawed. Nothing wrong with that but both the character and her fans don't seem to realize this. If she did not get her way, she didn't want it. She had the love and the support but SHE choose to walk away, what happens after she left is not others fault.
Also, I agree with you, let people enjoy what they want. One, these are fictional characters, so to get pressed and angry over a fictional world is ridiculous. Two, it's not hard to ignore and scroll on by. Let people enjoy what they want, don't be an @ss about it. To those angry (both in CF and PD) talk about your ships favorite scenes or moments with your own fandom. Believe me, its more fun to talk about things you love than things that make you angry.
*Sorry to go off in your asks but I'm just so annoyed with some people in the fandom.
The thing that really pisses me off as far as the D@wsey of it all, is that most of their fans are also fans of Upste@d and see no issue with the hypocrisy of Halstead being able to move on but not Casey. They like to bring up "girl code" as if it actually matters. Maybe if Gabby didn't do what she did to both Casey and Brett, as far as leaving and not keeping in touch (especially with Brett), and generally being an awful wife and best friend at the end, it'd be different. These same people that love Gabby hate Erin for doing practically the same thing to Halstead. Gabby was worse, imo, because she was married! So, how exactly is it fair for Halstead to move on but not Casey? I don't give a damn if it's only because Gabby and Brett were supposed "best friends". They're not anymore, and probably never really were. Kidd and Foster (god do I miss Foster, even if I love Violet) are her actual best friends. Like I said, I don't hate Gabby, and I wish the writers knew how to write characters off without ruining them (though I think them writing Gabby off the way they did was because Haas was trying to convince Monica to stay until the very last minute), but her fans drive me insane. Also, this rant may be because Twitter (fuck X) now doesn't block the tweets of people you block anymore and I see the toxic side of that fandom again.
And thank you! I might be ranting in general here, but I've never once said anything to anyone about who they ship, even if I'm not a fan of that ship. I never will. How hard it is to not go into the tags of other ships and talk shit and actually tweet directly at those shippers? I feel for them, but when I thought Brettsey had no hope, I stayed away from Fire and read fanfic. It was a much more pleasant experience not interacting with something that mad me sad, or mad.
Feel free to rant and talk all you want about it! This is my outlet for that because no one else watches Fire that I know besides my parents. My mom isn't that invested anymore and my dad likes everything no matter how bad it gets, lmao.

Chicago Fire 12x1: Barely Gone
What I Liked:
Opening with a Stellaride shower scene! They're just so beautiful!!
I love when Kelly gets an OFI case. Always good stuff.
Herman & Kidd fighting over Ritter.
Brett just being her normal supportive, happy self. I squealed at that picture of her & Julia. Then I laughed at the others b/c it's terrible photoshop.
Severide, Carver & Cruz!!!
Brett suggesting Carver take Violet as his date to the wedding. She knows Violet has or had a crush.
What I Didn't Like:
Gallo leaving.... but I understand family comes first.
The disagreement over Kelly working the OFI case. I get both sides but yeah....
Something's up with Herman & I have a feeling it's not good.
Gallo, Ritter & Violet goodbye. Tears! Gonna miss them.
Stellaride
Ok so Kelly is clearly passionate about this OFI stuff. What he did was wrong. Not contacting her at all b/c you can easily conclude that he loves the work more than her. She was an afterthought. She's scared that he will do the same thing again, but a compromise has to be made. He took his name off the Special Investigators List & he's clearly upset about that. It can quickly turn into resentment. Considering his comment to her before they got married "of course you're happy b/c you got what you wanted" something like that. It can get bad fast. I just hope they don't turn him into Jay.
I don't see this ending well & I think they might be headed for divorce if something doesn't give.
Brettsey
Don't care about Brettsey. It's just such a boring & forced ship. However, I'm happy for Brett. Specifically for her & baby Julia. She finally has the family she's been wanting. I loved this storyline with Dawson even tho it ended in 💔. Wishing the best for Brett/Julia.
Stella/Carver
Until I get confirmation with actions/words, I'm going to assume Carver still has feelings for Stella. It has been six months so maybe those feelings started to die when Stella went after Severide. They still have a past together that hasn't been revealed yet & I suspect they are saving it for a reason. I just know he's really good at hiding his true feelings when it comes to her.
Violet/Carver
Either they are hooking up or it's something else entirely. I think they are cute & there's chemistry. Although she seems annoyed or that's just a front.
Violet/Brett
Another duo I'm going to miss. That scene was so sweet. Violet is going to be amazing as PIC b/c she had such an amazing example.
Top 3 characters:
Hermann
Severide
Brett
POSSIBLE EXITS:
Severide & Hermann

I’m going to slightly disagree with anon about the Fire fandom being obsessed with biological children but I see where they are coming from. I do agree with people wishing Brett was pregnant before leaving so “they could finally be a family” was weird. That would’ve been so strange in my opinion. They just adopted Julia. She’s like 8 months old. They don’t need another baby right now. I also don’t like the idea that only a biological baby will complete Brettseys family. Feels icky, especially knowing that Brett herself is adopted. It gives the vibe that an adopted child can never be as loved as a biological child.
But, I don’t think it’s right to say we prefer biological children over adopted. With Stellaride, yes we want them to have a baby. But keep in mind that of the 4(?) main characters that have gotten pregnant, 3 were miscarriages across all of One Chicago. Natalie was the only one who had a successful pregnancy and she was pregnant before the show started. I just want one main couple in One Chicago to have a successful pregnancy because their track record is awful right now. If One Chicago had a better track record, I wouldn’t care if Stellaride adopted or if they had a biological baby. I’d be fine with either because they’d be terrific parents either way. I could personally see them fostering an older troubled teenager who they both can relate to.
Also, I think it’s just a very interesting storyline for Stella to be pregnant and then come back to work. Because that happens in real life. Women in the fire industry, even a firefighter, get pregnant, give birth, and still come back to work. It would be very interesting to see Stella being temporarily stepping down as Lieutenant, how she and Severide deal with the pregnancy, and how Stella deals with the aftermath of becoming a firefighter again after having given birth. I think it would be an interesting arc for Stellaride.
I don't interact much with fandom anymore so I'm not sure what was going on before the ep aired but the narrative that a family is only "complete" with a biological child or that an adoption should be last resort is disgusting. Yes, there are many problems with adoption as it's conducted in most countries but that's also due this whole narrative in the first place. And as you said, Brett was adopted. Julia is her child. Matt agreed to that when he asked her to marry him. That should've been the end of the story. It's a good send off. Just take the win and leave it at that. We all know how One Chicago exits can be controversial and badly executed so this one (and again I'm not a fan of them so this isn't biased in any way) is a great one.
As you pointed out and I've said before, I don't trust One Chicago writers with pregnancies storylines. I'll admit that I'm scared if that's the direction they'll go with Stellaride. Would I love to see them have a family? Yes. Would I love to see them tackle a woman in a male dominant career be a mother and still kill at her job after birth? Absolutely!!
Personally, I don't think Stella is there? With Gallo leaving she's building her team again. I think I'm also a bit against it right now because of how much drama plots they've given them lately with both Miranda's and Taylor's absences. I hate both (which is the same) reasons they've given. It's super out of character for either Stella or Kelly to go radio silent on the other. It's even more out of character for Stella to be this distrustful of Kelly after EVERYTHING they've been through, after how much Stella suffered from her last relationship. It doesn't add up. But since that was their way to explain the actors time off, it'd be super quick to throw a baby in the mix. A couple who didn't know whether the other would return home wouldn't in their right mind decide to have a baby. I'd prefer for them to build their trust and relationship back up before getting to that.
But after that, I'd love to see them form a family in any shape or form. I think it's important to show a female firefighter tackle all of that as you pointed out, specially as she's the only one in the show. We had Dawson and she stepped down as a paramedic right before the miscarriage if I'm not mistaken.
In my opinion, I believe Kelly would be far more ready to have a family and a baby than Stella. The man almost had one with his gay best friend like he wants it, it's clear and he's meant to be a dad and heal and break all the generational traumas his dad passed on to him.

Chicago Fire 11x13 thoughts:
The Hermans. that's all.
Carver is really giving me bad vibes. He kind of always does, but right off the bat this is just annoying.
HUH??? I'm so confused. Sylvie loved Matt at first sight??? Okay, we really are throwing previous storylines out the window now. (I'm not anti brettsey, but like make it make sense they worked together for years before they didn't start showing feelings til like season 8 or 9???) and Violet is giving logical advice and I admire that view.
I will always take more Sylveride team-ups if they are going to be like that. The best parts of an ensemble cast are the mix in partnerships!!!
Hermann, there is nothing wrong with accepting help, and I hope Gallo and RItter conspire to do something kind for them because they are really good guys. Ugh, they are so trying!!!
OH, WE ARE NOT DOING THIS CARVER. that smirk needs to go, I'm so glad I still don't like him because now I can see where this is going and I'm not about this.
Stella is doing what every good lieutenant would do; keep an eye on her team.
I'm supposed to remember that Kelly and Sylvie can't take gifts right??? this is a question for @agent-bash. That also seemed like a veiled threat right?? This might come back and bite them later on?? I'm not sure
Stella knows complicated pasts like no one else. But I just have a bad feeling about how this relationship between them might develop going forward. It could be good, but with Derek spearheading this I don't trust him.
The Hermanns need help. They need their firehouse family more than anything else. Stella's "this is what you did for my wedding" ugh THE FOUND FAMILY THAT I LOVE
Okay, this Sylveride gift thing is good. It's funny.
CHIEF THAT WAS SO OMINOUS WHAT DID YOU GIVE STELLA!!!! please be good please be good.
oh, lovely Hermann I'm sorry you walked in on that, and CINDY HERRMAN I LOVE YOU!!!!!
Severide messing with bows is adorable. Sylveride being friends is actually a good thing, it keeps Casey closer to both of them. Yea he might not be close to them right now but they have each other.
I'm concerned about Stella playing wingman with Carver. Do I agree that she is trying to do the right thing because he needs someone to ground him?? Yes, but in the mystical land of One Chicago I don't see this going all sunshine and rainbows. I'm proceeding with caution.
FIREFIGHTER AWARD OF VALOR!!!!!!! let's go lieutenant KIDD!!! (and carver yes he did well too but the guy freaks me out) Hold on his name is Sam??? have we established that already or did I just forget.
Sexy Stellaride!!!!!!! I really appreciate Stella being self-aware enough to understand and say that. And Kelly recognizes that even though they do things differently that's okay??? That's the communication that fosters a good marriage. It's so great to see this for them. TALKING. not assuming.
The Hermann kids in this episode are really really great. I hope they stick around more often now.
Stella backstory??? This I'm here for. Long time coming too.
All of these camera pans to Carver and Stella make me nervous. It screams foreshadowing of something we're not gonna see coming. OH NEVER MIND I SEE IT AND I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. Carver is catching feelings for a married woman and I want to throw up. I had a gut feeling that I was begging was wrong. Carver THAT'S A MARRIED WOMAN IT'S GROSS.
Carver you can just shut up if you want to be mad by yourself, don't drag the rest of the firehouse into your pity party. Firehouse 51 is a family whether you like it or not. You can't beat them down but you can join them.
I had a feeling that was Lana's Dad.......
Yes, Carver is a hothead. And Stella has learned as a lieutenant with him being on her squad. Stella and Kelly are both right. This is the turning point with Carver as a character I think. It's either he stays or he goes and I have a feeling I know where this is headed.
Again for the 1 millionth time, Chris and Cindy Hermann and the kids deserve every good thing in the entire world.
Overall: The episode was 7/10. The Hermann family and firehouse team up alongside the side Sylveride storyline were the best parts. I'm bothered by Carver, and I'm concerned about how this fledgling "thing" with Stella is going to pan out because I don't even know how to describe this yet. Stella is trying to be a good lieutenant, I don't know what Carver's deal is I can't read him. I'm more concerned because they have to write Severide out of an undisclosed number of episodes now, so if this is going to be the filler I'm not going to like it.

Ok, so those scenes you mentioned are not parallels. Sev watching them was just realising what he really wants. Dawson and Casey were dancing around each other, got engaged, broke up, get back together, get married. Long story short.
Kelly and Stella had perfect meet and cute that ended up badly, meet again years later, had a fling, broke up, get back together and basically stay together till now.
There are barely any parallels to their stories. Dawsey and brettsey had way more and partly because of that brettsey was criticised lazy writing.
That being said, messing Carver’s character so much like they did definitely made the ship less interesting and exciting
by parallels i didn’t mean direct references or similarities in their scenes or development, i more so meant things that show that their love stories are very similar, which the scenes i mentioned directly prove

Do you think they'll ever divorce Stella and Kelly? I know showrunners for the 3 shows are different but they like to repeat stories and I just watched Med for first time and they barely kept couples together for a season and Adam and Burgess on PD are the closest to stellride time on the show and they stayed separated for seasons and just got engaged last season. I know sense of family is stronger on Fire but I'm worried bringing Benny affairs, Damon and Stella reaction to kids. And they have many stable couples Mouch, Hermann and Cruz and Stellride are the show lead. In the end, this is a drama show they need drama look at grey's anatomy.
as much as i have problems with some of the ways andrea does things and writes some storylines, i don’t believe she’d ever divorce stellaride at this point in the show. they are the longest running main couple in the entirety of the one chicago universe and they’ve also been married the longest (again just talking about main couples).
them divorckng over the damon stuff just wouldn’t make sense. it’s not kelly who abandoned damon and kept him hidden from stella, it was benny.
as for the baby thing, i still think stella wants kids. in the premiere there might be a chance that stella says she doesn’t want kids at the moment, but i still believe she does want kids. there’s been too much to say that she doesn’t want kids.
the thing about stellaride is that since season 10 they’ve been the only major couple on fire. brettseys on screen relationship started in the season 9 finale and stopped when casey left. not even hawkami was a major couple because jimmy wasn’t a regular. so stellaride is the only couple that could’ve gotten the drama that a main couple gets. do i think that it’s too much drama and they should get some peace now? absolutely. with carver and violet potentially getting together now, im hoping they get the drama now while stellaride get happiness.

Would you ever write fanfic for Stellaride?
Hey, Anon. I've written a few fics for Stellaride, and definitely would, again. I just haven't had inspiration to write for them in a while. I stopped watching Chicago Fire after Brettsey got married and left. But if I got an idea or prompt for a ficlet or one-shot, I'd write for them. I just don't write chapter stories.
Fics:
Heart and Soul
Take It From Me
Flowers
How Much You Mean to Me

Yeah I’ve reached the part where we get to see how “Brettsey” (which is ugly ship name btw) formed. it’s weird for Stella who was supposedly dawson’s good friend to say that what Casey had with Gabby is, “ancient history,” when they were full on MARRIED—which means it wasnt just some fling/random relationship mind you—just to encourage Brett to give Casey a try. It’s odd how the writers did that fr and anybody that says different tells me exactly how y’all move regardless if it’s just tv lol.
It’s Firecountry all over again with these thrown in relationships and it really gives me the ick. Ofc I’m going to keep watching because I’ve come this far binge-watching but I don’t ship it at all. Will my mind change? I don’t think so but I definitely don’t vibe with it in present time and past (meaning watching season 7) and it’s giving soap opera.

Brettsey Appreciation Week Day 7- Free Choice
Wrote a little married Brettsey Drabble🫶🏻🫶🏻
She doesn’t work with her husband often anymore. When she moved out to Portland, she and Matt had a long talk about next steps. One of them included a discussion about whether they could work at the same firehouse again.
She wanted to. She did. She loved the idea of seeing him all the time, back in action. It’s just she knew that it might not be the greatest idea for their marriage.
Truth is that the marriage had changed a lot for her. Matt Casey is her husband now. They’re together for the rest of their lives after so much time apart. She hadn’t seen him in danger in years and she realized it’s different now.
It’s harder to separate their love life and professional lives now that she wears his ring, and they have a child together. She knew deep down that she couldn’t just turn off her wife instincts. She also knew Matt wouldn’t be able to not treat her like his wife.
They both decided that it was best she took a position at a different firehouse. That way they could leave work at home and focus on their marriage. If they worked together again, Matt would probably undermine her to keep her safe and she’d probably break down and beg him to quit the next time he almost dies in front of her.
Neither of them wanted to do that to one another so Sylvie took a job as the PIC at station 14.
It leaves for a good distance between Matt on calls, but they often overlap depending on how big the call is.
Today is one of those times and she forgot how much she loves watching Matt in his element. He’s so damn good at his job.
A guy behind the wheel of a car suffered a heart attack and crashed into a group of civilians who were protesting outside an animal shelter.
Luckily, the civilian injuries were mostly minor, but her ambulance was dispatched to help triage. She arrived on scene to find his crew hosing down the vehicle’s engine with a fire extinguisher. Her husband was cutting the driver’s side door with the saw. His control and commanding voice were very hot.
Now, the chaos has wrapped up. Matt was able to extract the victim from the car and load him into the ambulance. The minor injuries on site were all treated, and it really is a miracle that no one ended up dead.
She’s packing up the rig when she catches Matt’s eyes. He grins at her, and she smiles back. She watches him pat his candidate on the back and direct him to do something. Then, he heads her direction.
She’s known Matt for years. He became one of her best friends. She fell in love with him. Hell, she’s even married to him, but he still makes her nervous sometimes. He still has her ducking her head, trying to hide the blush creeping across her cheeks.
She bites her lip, trying to remain professional when he stops in front of the ambulance’s open doors. She feels his eyes on her every movement.
“Captain,” she greets, sparing him a quick glance as she packs away rolls of gauze.
She spots the confusion over her overly professional tone. She’s relatively new in her position and her partner is already a little sexist. If he sees her cuddling up to Matt, he’ll have further evidence that she somehow only got the job because of him.
It’s not true. She had several firehouses in the Portland area begging for her to take the position. She has a pretty impressive reputation. Not that her new red blooded male partner believes that though.
Matt leans against the rig and his expression pinches like he’s in pain. Did he injure himself during the extraction?
Her overly cool demeanor switches at an instant. “Hey, are you okay?”
Matt passes a hand over the back of his neck. “Actually, I’m feeling a bit flushed and my heart is kinda racing.
Oh god.
Sylvie sets down the paramedic bag and closes the space between them. Her fingers fly up to his pulse point and her other hand lands on his arm.
“What do you mean your heart is racing? Are you feeling any pain in your arm? Numbness?” She asks in rapid fire succession to which Matt shakes his head.
She feels his thumping pulse against her fingers but it doesn’t feel fast. In fact, it’s at his normal resting rate. She knows what his pulse feels like, and this isn’t out of the ordinary.
It’s averagely slow. He’s always had a low resting heart rate which pisses her off a bit. Matt’s perfect in every damn way so of course his average is about sixty beats per minute. Hers on the other hand has a much faster average heartbeat. She’s always a bit more wound up than her ridiculously calm husband.
Speaking of calm, he really doesn’t seem that worried. He’s a bit too relaxed for having chest pain.
She’s terrified he’s feeling the precursor symptoms of a heart attack.
“How are you feeling now?” She places her palm on his cool forehead. He’s not warm or clammy. “Does your chest feel tight.”
He shakes his head. “No, it doesn’t.”
Okay, that doesn’t make much sense. It rules out the possibility he’s having a heart attack. He doesn’t have any of the symptoms beside a mysterious racing heart that she hasn’t once detected while monitoring his pulse.
“Okay, your vitals look perfectly normal.”
He nods, resting his hand on her waist. “Hmm.”
He’s acting very strange.
“Does your heart still feel like it’s racing?” She lays her palm on the side of his face.
Matt meets her gaze. The corner of his mouth ticks up. Does he think this is funny?
“Yeah, just a bit.”
She doesn’t understand what could be wrong. His vitals are fine. Maybe she should take him to the hospital just in case? They might be able to diagnose something she’s missing.
She’s busy coming up with a plan to get him to a doctor when he brushes the back of his fingers against her cheek, smiling.
Okay, what the hell is happening?
“Matt, what is going on?”
“Well, I guess all this heart racing has to be because of you then.”
She raises an eyebrow.
He winks at her.
This man. She can’t believe he just did that. She presses her lips together, shaking her head.
“Are you hitting on me right now?” She asks.
He nods. “Yeah, most definitely. Not bad, right?”
She wants to tell him how stupid that line was because how dare he worry her like that just for a cheesy pick-up line delivery.
She nudges him. “You had me worried out of my mind! I thought you were about to have a heart attack.”
“I still might if you keep looking this good on a call,” he teases.
She tries to mask the fondness on her face. He scared her but she can’t lie and say these dumb come on moves don’t affect her. He does this all the time and each one, she never sees it coming.
She just didn’t think he’d go this far to flirt with her.
“You are ridiculous,” she chuckles, smacking his shoulder. “How long have you been waiting to use that on me?”
He shrugs. “Since I saw you climb out of the ambulance today. You take my breath away, Casey.”
God, he’s so good.
She grins. “You just called me Casey.”
He nods. “I did. I mean, it is your last name now. I’d call you Brett, but I might get weird looks.”
Screw it. She’s been professional long enough. Sylvie grabs his face and kisses him.
“Mixing business with pleasure now, huh? Who knew a last name could make you such a rule breaker.”
She blushes. “Are you complaining.”
He turns serious, shaking his head. “Absolutely not.”
“Would you two wrap it up!” one of the firefighters on Matt’s truck yells. “Save all the foreplay for the bedroom.”
Matt rolls his eyes. “I hate him.”
He doesn’t. He actually really likes the guy, but she gets it. She doesn’t want to say goodbye either.
“I love you,” she says. “Very much and I’ll see you at home.”
Matt kisses her quickly. “I’ll see you at home. Be safe, baby.”
She mock salutes. “Always Captain and right back at you.”
He squeezes her fingers and heads back towards his rig. He stops and turns to her. “I love you too by the way.”
She knows but she can never hear it too many times. She blows him a kiss and then shuts the back of the rig.
She needs to get back to her firehouse too.

I’m pretty sure that Andrea must know how some CF fans feel about brettsey. So I’m confused why they keep doing them dirty and make it impossible to like them, I’m talking about people who aren’t fans of course. Wedding at Molly’s? The same Molly’s that was founded by Dawson? Where Dawson and Casey celebrated their engagement? Where Trudy and Mouch got married? Didn’t they have enough repeated storylines?? Seriously, they could figure out some new place but they again chose to use a place / storyline that we’ve already seen
How the writers want me to care about Brett and Casey while they clearly don’t care about show history?
I have lost every sense of understanding when it comes to the writers

Is it true that Jesse sold his home in Chicago and won’t be returning as Matt anymore because of it?
Hi Anon! Jesse put his Chicago loft up for sale (https://www.chicagotribune.com/2023/04/27/actor-jesse-spencer-who-starred-on-chicago-fire-lists-fulton-market-loft-for-18m/) and moved to Boston in May 2023 when his wife got a job at Boston Children’s Hospital (https://x.com/drkaligator/status/1661887453026742272?s=46&t=oTBzZeUqh3t8ER-XPR4Spw).
He still came back in February of this year for the Brettsey wedding and Kara’s last episode, so he could still guest star on the show. However, I doubt he will be back any time soon, even though they had Matt say that he’d be back soon and him and Sylvie will always come back to Chicago in the episode. My best bet is that we see them again in the series finale, whenever that ends up being. I’ve always pictured Matt taking over as Battalion Chief at 51 at the end of the show, and since they’re now married, I’d imagine we’d see Sylvie too. As a Sylvie stan, I’d love for her to be an ambulance commander or paramedic field chief depending on how long it is, especially after they gave her zero advancement or recognition before she left 😩.

How do you think Chicago Fire is going to go forward with no ships onscreen for the foreseeable future? I'm not sure how they are going to write off Severide's character but I assume he's either going to have a big OFI case, transfer to another house (as kind of mentioned in the last episode about married couples working together), or visiting Matt in Oregon?
I'd hope other characters such as Boden and Ritter get some interesting storylines and that Sylvie and Violet have storylines that don't involve their romantic life. If anything I hope the second half really focuses on the family aspect of 51 and to add more calls to each episode!
It's going to be an interesting second half, that is for sure.
The thing about these network shows is that it draws a lot of casual viewers in. Fandom is such a small subset of people so I don’t think the writers and producers are too worried about where the show is going, ratings, etc. The OC shows are still rating machines despite some really shoddy writing this season.
That being said, I think the writers will need to get creative again given how much they’ve leaned on ships since season 9 with Brettsey, Stellaride and Hawkami. To be honest, I haven’t seen a full episode since 11x05. I’ve been watching clips here and there but haven’t managed to catch up. I hope they lean into the family aspect of the show too. It’s been missing a lot and so has the action. The paramedics used to get a lot more interesting calls in the earlier seasons. I hope Ritter and Boden get more screen time too. It would be nice to see them bonding. That’s a duo I did not know I needed. I also hope that the house will be there for the Herrmanns. I think Derek said in an interview that the season would be dark but hopeful. I like that they’re giving Herrmann a storyline but I really wish it turns out well for them! I want to know more about Violet. I want to see Sylvie thriving. I do not want Stellaride drama because it would be repetitive and exhausting. Also, it’s likely they will write off Taylor in the meantime by having Severide move to OFI for a large arson case. I don’t think he’d visit Casey since he’s married and it wouldn’t make a lot of sense.

Still can’t believe we’re gonna get to see their wedding, this is incredible❤️❤️❤️❤️💍💍💍💍😭😭😭😭!!!! I still believe though, that Sylvie is moving with Julia to Portland, OR to be with Matt and the Darden Boy’s❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!! I just think it makes the most sense and unlike some other Brettsey Fan’s, I never got the sense that Matt really wants to return to Chicago or 51!!!! I think he just wants to be with Sylvie❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭😭!!!! I think Matt has moved on beyond the need for being in Chicago or at 51!!!! I believe Sylvie is also growing beyond the need to be in Chicago or at 51!!!! This why I said I believe this time she chooses personal happiness over her career needs or wants!!!! Matt and Sylvie’s career’s are important to them, but I think their personal happiness with each other and raising a family together has become more important to them!!!! It almost mirrors what happened to Jesse and Kara in their personal life’s!!!! Their priorities changed, just like their characters!!!! Even though they’re married to different people in real life❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!! Still hope after these last 6-7 episodes this isn’t the last time we get to hear from or about Matt and Sylvie with their children ( offscreen ) or get to see them ( onscreen ) again with their children before the show ends❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭😭!!!!
WE’RE GETTING THAT WEDDING OH MY GODDDDD
