Theme: Reincarnation/Ships in Parallel Universes

The Universe was infinite, the matter that filled it was not.

Sometimes they were called Spencer and Trina, other times Ginny and Marcus. In one rare life, they were called Jeremiah and Belly.

In one particularly spooky, mysterious, and kooky life, they were called Wednesday and Xavier.

Sometimes their love was instant, other times they were stubborn. In one life, it grew over time after a chance meeting at a funeral.

Sometimes it was tragic, other times it was happily ever after that ended with a kiss.

The how and why was always in flux.

But they always found a way to each other.

Their love echoed through the Infinite.

It was always her, it was always him.

I find it interesting that during the pool scenes Trina was talking about missing how how her family used to be and had Spencer say “bottom line you and and your mom have always had a great relationship, u know I’ve always been jealous of that”. Spencer stays giving Portia the grace that she doesn’t give him or when he sees that Trina doesn’t want to give her the grace at that moment. I think he know if he particularly likes Portia, but I do think he sees how his relationship is nonexistent with his dad and doesn’t want Trina to experience having that same hole in his heart that he’s feeling right now.

Yeah the way Spencer talks to Trina about her family issues is always interesting to me, because it's his roundabout way of revealing how he feels about the state of his own family. He doesn't even really leave it as a open question that Trina and Portia will repair their relationship, he sees it as inevitable.

Is part of that because he still hopes the same for him and Nik or is part of that because he assumes the opposite for him and Nik, that what's happened between them is irreparable. I genuinely don't think Spencer has any issues with Portia beyond how she's hurt Trina, and that mostly comes from a space of being protective of Trina. He seems to genuinely respect her as a parent.

Like I said, I think Spencer is envious of the structure and solid foundation that Trina grew up with. Portia was the main provider of that. So there's a sort of selflessness to Spencer keeping Trina's faith in her relationship with her mother steady despite his awareness that Portia does not approve of him for Trina. He's focused on what he thinks is good for Trina in that situation, not what's the best case scenario for him.

And I completely agree that the undercurrent of all of this is that even after everything, he still misses his dad. I still think his obsession with demon spawn is about attempting to fill that Nik-sized hole in his heart with the next best thing. I am waiting for someone, anyone, to call this out within the context of the show lol.
