Preparing for Friday Prayer: A Path to Spiritual Renewal
Friday, the blessed day, holds a special significance for Muslims worldwide. It's a day to gather in congregation, seek forgiveness, and connect with the divine. To maximize the spiritual benefits of this day, it's essential to prepare both physically and spiritually.
Physical Preparation:
* Wudhu: Perform ablution (wudu) to purify yourself before prayer.
* Modest Attire: Dress modestly and cleanly.
* Early Arrival: Reach the mosque well in advance to secure a good spot and engage in pre-prayer activities like reciting the Quran and supplications.
Spiritual Preparation:
* Reflect on the Quran: Read Surah Al-Kahf, a chapter known for its blessings and guidance.
* Seek Forgiveness: Repent sincerely for your sins and seek Allah's forgiveness.
* Intend Good Deeds: Make a sincere intention to perform good deeds and avoid evil.
* Focus on the Khutbah: Pay full attention to the sermon, as it often contains valuable lessons and reminders.
Beyond Prayer: Acts of Kindness
Friday is also an opportunity to extend kindness and compassion to others. One of the most rewarding acts is giving sadaqa (charity) to the needy. By sharing our blessings with those less fortunate, we not only fulfill a religious obligation but also purify our hearts and draw closer to Allah.
* Give Generously: Donate to charitable causes or directly to individuals in need.
* Volunteer Your Time: Help those in need by volunteering at local organizations or community initiatives.
* Offer a Kind Word: A simple act of kindness, such as a smile or a word of encouragement, can make a significant difference.
By combining prayer and good deeds, we can truly maximize the spiritual benefits of Friday. May Allah accept our prayers, bless our efforts, and guide us towards a righteous path.
May Allah bless you for reading this text!

Jummah in the Modern World: A Blend of Tradition and Contemporary Relevance
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Jummah, or Friday, holds a sacred place in the Islamic calendar, representing a day of congregational prayer and reflection. Its significance is deeply rooted in the Quran, emphasizing the importance of communal worship and spiritual renewal. In the modern world, where the pace of life can be relentless, Jummah serves as a unique opportunity for Muslims to reconnect with their faith and community. This article explores the timeless importance of Jummah in the Quran, delves into the benefits of reciting Surah Kahf and Surah Jummah on this day, and examines how these traditions remain relevant in the contemporary world.
Jummah in the Quran:
The Quran, the holy book of Islam, explicitly mentions the significance of Jummah in several verses. In Surah Al-Jumu'ah (Chapter 62), Allah emphasizes the obligation of the Friday congregational prayer, calling believers to leave their business and hasten to the remembrance of Allah. The Quran underscores the communal aspect of Jummah, bringing together Muslims from diverse backgrounds to worship collectively and strengthen their bonds.
The modern world, with its fast-paced lifestyle, often pulls individuals away from their spiritual core. Jummah, as emphasized in the Quran, provides a designated time for Muslims to pause, reflect, and redirect their focus towards matters of the soul.
Benefits of Reciting Surah Kahf and Surah Jummah:
On the day of Jummah, Muslims are encouraged to recite specific chapters from the Quran, amplifying the spiritual experience. Two such chapters, Surah Kahf (18th chapter) and Surah Jummah (62nd chapter), hold special significance.
Surah Kahf: Surah Kahf, also known as "The Cave," recounts stories of faith, trials, and steadfastness. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged the recitation of Surah Kahf on Fridays, as it contains timeless lessons applicable to the challenges of contemporary life. The surah prompts believers to seek knowledge, reflect on the transient nature of worldly pursuits, and maintain resilience in the face of adversity.
In the modern world, where distractions abound, the recitation of Surah Kahf on Jummah serves as a spiritual anchor, guiding Muslims to navigate the complexities of life with steadfastness and wisdom.
Surah Jummah: Surah Jummah, named after the day of congregation, highlights the importance of the Friday prayer and the significance of listening to the sermon. The surah emphasizes the transformative power of knowledge, urging believers to prioritize learning and understanding their faith. In a world shaped by information and technology, Surah Jummah serves as a reminder of the timeless value of seeking knowledge and growing in spiritual understanding.
The Benefits of Tradition in the Modern World:
In the hustle and bustle of the modern world, traditional practices like attending Jummah prayers, reciting specific chapters of the Quran, and engaging in communal worship might appear at odds with contemporary lifestyles. However, these traditions offer invaluable benefits that resonate with the challenges of the present day.
Community Connection: Jummah prayers foster a sense of community and brotherhood, countering the isolation often experienced in a technology-driven society. The physical presence of individuals in a congregation creates a unique bond, promoting unity and mutual support.
Spiritual Reflection: The recitation of Surah Kahf and Surah Jummah on Fridays provides a dedicated time for spiritual reflection and growth. In a world filled with constant noise, these practices offer a moment of tranquility, allowing Muslims to center themselves and strengthen their connection with Allah.
Balancing Material and Spiritual Pursuits: The obligation to pause worldly activities for Jummah prayers aligns with the Quranic guidance to strike a balance between material and spiritual pursuits. In a world where success is often measured by material achievements, Jummah serves as a reminder of the importance of nurturing one's spiritual well-being.
Conclusion:
Jummah, with its roots deeply embedded in the Quran, continues to be a beacon of spiritual guidance for Muslims in the modern world. The practices associated with Jummah, including the recitation of Surah Kahf and Surah Jummah, offer a timeless framework for navigating the complexities of contemporary life. By embracing these traditions, Muslims can find solace, community, and a renewed connection with their faith in the midst of the rapid pace of the modern world.

Ramadan Reflections [Day 17]
Since finishing school, I’ve started to shift my mindset from an academic one to a professional one. In other words, I’ve started looking for work. It’s not as stressful as I thought it would be, but I am also not so pressed for funds at the moment. I feel like it will hit me once mid-May comes around.
As it is Friday today, I listened to this week’s recitation of Surah Al-Kahf; the only (and most important) difference is that I followed along with the reading. The surah itself is longer than I anticipated and I couldn’t sit still for the life of me. At least I know now that if I intend to read the surah without following, I need to break it up into sections. Aside from those two things, I’m contemplating on making a Twitter thread dedicated to special times where duas are accepted. I know it’ll be extremely beneficial, not just for me, but for everyone that reads it. Perhaps I’ll dedicate tomorrow to researching specific hadiths.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Jumu’ah will have a light that will shine from him from one Jumu’ah to the next." "There is a special hour on Friday, during which all prayers are accepted and answered by Allah, all Glory and Praise be to Him. This is part of the blessings that Allah has blessed this day with, over all the other days of the week."
Reported by Imam Muslim, Abu-Dawood, Al-Nasai, and Al-Tirmizi, that Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺhad said, "The best day during which the sun have risen is Friday. It is the Day Adam was created. It is the day when Adam entered paradise and also when he was taken out from it. It is also the day on which the Day of Judgment takes place."
Rasulallah ﷺ is also reported to have said, “Recite Durood upon me in abundance on the day of Jummah since they are presented to me.”

This is a special series of Blogs which describes my time and experiences during Hajj this year.
Part 33
DAY 34 – 23 August 2019 – 22 Zilhajj 1440
Friday at Haram Shareef
Friday prayer at Haram Shareef always attracts large number of visitors. This being Hajj time, the number of people present in Makkah is much bigger than usual days. There would be hardly anyone who could but would not offer Juma prayer in Haram Shareef.
I had some idea due to previous experience. I did the same thing which I did on last Friday. I came late night, prayed Qiyam ul Layl, and Fajr and did not go back to building. Instead, I got out of Haram, had a cup of tea anda piece of cake from the shop outside, and went inside again.
It was still early morning and the crowd was at its lowest.
I did Tawaf and prayed to Allah to get to Multazim and Hateem. Hateem is the semi-circle adjacent to Ka’aba tul Musharrafah, of which it is considered to be a part of. At some point in history, it was actually part of Ka’aba tul Musharrafah for a while. When Ka’aba tul Musharrafah was rebuilt in the time of our Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him), it was kept half built like it is today. Later, when Hajjaj bin Yusuf attacked and damaged Ka’aba tul Musharrafah, the same design was kept in rebuilding. It is therefore considered that praying nawafil is Hateem is like praying inside Ka’aba tul Musharrafah.
I reached Multazim a few minutes later. There was a big crowd there, but everyone would get the opportunity. I got mine. I stood under the door of Ka’aba tul Musharrafah for some time and prayed to the contentment of my heart. Then I left. I was more comfortable standing at Multazim because getting out from there was quite an effort.
A few steps ahead is the small door to Hateem. It was closed. Others were also standing there, waiting. Someone asked the security when they would open. He pointed to the opposite door and asked to go there. We went there. As soon I reached there, the door opened. At the same time, the insiders tried to come out and outsiders tried to go inside. Of course, it created a huge human entangle which took superhuman force to unentangle. Finally, I was inside Hateem. I started to pray two nawafil. When I bowed in Sajda, some people started falling on me. It might have led to anything, but someone took my hand and raised me to stand up. I was saved. After a little while, I came out of Hateem.
I settled into a covered space adjacent to Mataf from where I could see Ka’aba tul Musharrafah but would be protected from direct sunlight as the sun came up. It was still quite hot in Makkah Mukarramah; temperature being 46-47 Co. I would sit there till Friday prayer.
I sat there. Recited Qur’an. Recited Surah Al Kahf; it is masnoon to recite Surah Al Kahf on Fridays. And waited for Juma prayer. Many people were doing Tawaf in bright, hot sun. They would return often to drink Zam Zam. It is very tough to do Tawaf in these conditions, but people do out of devotion. Devotees do not always go by logic.
Looking at the contingent of pilgrims coming from Pakistan, three groups could be distinguished.
One. These are simple people who have worked hard and saved pennies all their lives to be able to perform Hajj. Or at old age, their children have arranged money for them for Hajj. It is quite likely that they might have been unsuccessful in Hajj Draw couple of times previously. These people are ever grateful, head to toe, morning to night, end to end. Their faces glow with the gratification and satisfaction that comes from achieving a lifetime goal, and their talk is only gratitude. They do not demand anything, accept what they get and remain busy with Ibadaat. This is a relative minority.
Two. These are well-off, affluent people. They opted for government scheme because they had checked that government arrangements were better and cheaper than private operators. They have come with families and their resourcefulness is obvious. The government fee this year was 456000 per person (amount between 25000 to 55000 was refunded just before going for Hajj). If a family of six applied, they would deposit 27,00,000 (2.7 million) rupees. They brought ample money and long shopping lists also. For such a family, it would be a project costing 4.5 – 5 million rupees; which by any standard is a large sum. Many of these belonged to business community. These people used all facilities to maximum and then demanded more. They had too many objections and did not let any trouble-creating occasion go; them being resourceful and powerful. This is the majority; the largest group by far.
A respectable looking gentleman forgot a small bag in the dining area. Upon preliminary search, he could not find it. He started raising hell right there and shouting that all Pakistanis were petty thieves. After some more search, his bag was found from the same area; the Pakistanis were not acquitted, however. Irony was, that he himself also came from Pakistan. This is a glimpse of this group’s attitude. They take what is due to them, and some more, and are always ready to take on others’ share also. Most of the complaints heard during Hajj come from this group, and not all are well-founded. Remember, this group formed the majority.
Three. These are highly placed people; privileged; good education, good money and good status. Allah knows why they got stuck with the government scheme. They moved with caution and did not mix up, probably to avoid getting infected. This a really small minority and they do not create fuss otherwise.
A Common Man’s Hajj – Day to Day Recount of Hajj 2019 – Asrar Qureshi – Part 33 Dear Colleagues!  This is Pharma Veterans Blog Post #251. Pharma Veterans shares the wealth of knowledge and wisdom of Veterans for the benefit of Pharma Community.

Instill love of Friday in ur child!
Instill love of Friday in ur child from an early age by making Friday special.
If u have new clothes for ur kids, put on them on a Friday. If they ask to wear it before tell them that u can wear it on Friday as Allah loves Friday
If u have bought a new toy for ur child, give it to them on Friday. This will make them realise Friday is important. They will anticipate Friday & will start to love this day in shaa Allah
Send ur kids to Salaat al Jumu'a with the father. Dress them up nicely in their best clothes.
When they come back from Salaah, give them their favourite treat, an ice cream, a lolly (its OK once a week!)
Give them some money tell them to give in charity at the Masjid. Get the child to put the money in the box. This will teach them to be generous. Explain to them this is for the poor kids who have nothing & concept of sharing our wealth & donating for sake of Allah
Make Friday special. Recite Surah al Kahf get ur kids to sit & listen. Tell them the story of the people in the cave. The importance of relying on Allah & always asking Him for Help.
These tips will only work when YOU as a parent take Friday as an important day. If u stay in pyjamas all day dont dress up for ur Friday Salah, dont read Quran, dont send Salawaat but spend all day on Facebook or watching TV or making money, then ur kids will never know the importance of Friday.
In shaa Allah this is beneficial..baarak Allahu feekum

Friday Jummah: Why Muslims pray on Friday
By: Sheikh Kayiwa Abubakar
Friday is the sixth day in Islamic week. The literal meaning of Friday is congregation. In islam, this day is given the most importance than any other days of the week. Every Friday, Prayer of Jummah is offered and for this prayer special time is taken. Imams of all masjids deliver khutbah on a special topic every Friday.
From authentic ahadith, it is taken that Prophet Muhammad ﷺadvised Muslims to recite surah al-Kahf on every Friday to keep safe from the fitnah of dajjal.
From various ahadith, it is proven that Prophet Muhammadﷺused to celebrate this day and he declared jummah as weekly eid for muslims. He ﷺ used to wear clean and new (washed) clothes, used to take bath, wear fragrance, wear surmah for this day specially.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺdescribed the virtues of Jummah prayer in the following hadith with these words;
”When the Friday comes, at every door of the Masjid there stands Angels who write down (the names of) those who come First, then who comes next. When the Imam sits down, the records are closed and they come to listen to the reminder , i.e. the Khutba….”
From authentic ahadith, it is taken that Prophet Muhammad ﷺadvised Muslims to recite surah al-Kahf on every Friday to keep safe from the fitnah of dajjal.
While the fast on Jummah is forbidden i.e. the single fast in a week cannot be observed on jummah but it can be observed in pair i.e. with Thursday or with Saturday.
From the history, it is proven that Jummah was most important day for the previous nations as well. It is still considered a blessed day in many religions for example Hinduism. Thus, Friday is considered a special and important day right from the very beginning of humanity.
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺsaid, “Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel (in Allah’s cause); and whoever goes in the second hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e. starts delivering the Khutba), the angels present themselves to listen to the Khutba.” Bukhari,2:425, Muslim,2:582 ( Book of Friday Prayer)
Imam Bukhari and Muslim reported that Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺhad said, “We (Muslims) came last and yet we are the first on the day of judgment. They have received the books before us (meaning Torah and Injil). We have received the book after them (meaning the Qur’an). Friday was their day to be glorified. However, they disputed on that while Allah had told us Friday is the day to glorify. Thus they will follow us. The Jews glorify Saturday, and the Christians glorify Sunday.”
Also reported by Imam Muslim, Abu-Dawood, Al-Nasai, and Al-Tirmizi, that Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺhad said, “The best day during which the sun have risen is Friday. It is the Day Adam was created. It is the day when Adam entered paradise and also when he was taken out from it. It is also the day on which the Day of Judgment takes place.”
Jumu’ah Mubarak: Alhamdulilahi

The Spiritual Significance of Reciting Surah Kahf on Jummah
Tumblr media
Introduction:
In the bustling rhythm of our lives, the sacred day of Jummah (Friday) stands as a beacon of spiritual reflection and communal worship for Muslims around the world. Among the many cherished practices on this blessed day, the recitation of Surah Kahf holds a special place. Surah Kahf, the 18th chapter of the Quran, is not merely a collection of verses; it is a narrative rich with wisdom, lessons, and spiritual guidance. Reading Surah Kahf on Jummah is a practice deeply rooted in tradition, carrying profound significance for believers.
The Historical Context:
Before delving into the spiritual benefits of reciting Surah Kahf on Jummah, it is essential to understand the historical context of this remarkable chapter. Surah Kahf is a Meccan surah, revealed during a critical period in the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It comprises four distinct narratives, each conveying unique lessons that resonate across time.
The Cave, the Sleepers, and the King:
The first story narrates the tale of the Ashab al-Kahf, the companions of the cave, who sought refuge in a cave to escape persecution for their faith. Their unwavering commitment to God serves as a timeless example of steadfastness in the face of adversity.
The story of the sleepers and the king further emphasizes the ephemeral nature of power and the ultimate authority of the Almighty. It encourages believers to prioritize the pursuit of righteousness over fleeting worldly gains.
Moses and Khidr:
The encounter between Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) and Khidr in the second narrative offers profound lessons in humility, patience, and trust in the divine plan. It highlights the limitations of human understanding and the importance of submitting to God's wisdom.
Dhul-Qarnayn:
The third narrative introduces Dhul-Qarnayn, a righteous ruler endowed with immense power. His journey and encounters with diverse communities underscore the themes of justice, humility, and the recognition of God as the ultimate source of authority.
The Parable of the Two Gardens:
The final narrative revolves around the parable of two gardens, illustrating the transient nature of material wealth and the significance of gratitude. It urges believers to reflect on the consequences of arrogance and ingratitude, emphasizing the importance of utilizing blessings for the greater good.
Spiritual Benefits of Reciting Surah Kahf on Jummah:
Protection from Dajjal (Antichrist): The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the protective nature of Surah Kahf against the trials and tribulations of the Dajjal. Reading this surah on Jummah is believed to invoke divine protection and fortify one's faith.
Illumination of the Heart: Surah Kahf acts as a source of light for the believer's heart. Its verses illuminate the soul, providing clarity, and dispelling the darkness of ignorance. Regular recitation on Jummah nurtures spiritual growth and awareness.
Forgiveness of Sins: The Prophet (peace be upon him) stated that the recitation of Surah Kahf on Fridays results in the forgiveness of sins committed between the two Jummahs. This practice serves as a means of seeking divine mercy and purification of the soul.
Increase in Provision: The surah's emphasis on gratitude and reliance on Allah for sustenance aligns with the Islamic principle that expressing gratitude leads to an increase in blessings. Reciting Surah Kahf on Jummah is believed to attract divine abundance and prosperity.
Guidance and Wisdom: The stories within Surah Kahf offer profound insights into various aspects of life, guiding believers on the path of righteousness, patience, and wisdom. Regular recitation fosters a deep understanding of these lessons and their practical application in daily life.
Conclusion:
In the tapestry of Islamic practices, the recitation of Surah Kahf on Jummah stands out as a thread woven with historical significance and spiritual depth. As believers gather on Fridays to offer prayers and seek closeness to the Divine, the recitation of Surah Kahf becomes a sacred tradition that transcends time and connects hearts across generations. It is a journey through narratives that impart timeless wisdom, providing solace, guidance, and a profound sense of connection to the Creator. May the echoes of Surah Kahf on Jummah continue to resonate in the hearts of believers, illuminating their paths and drawing them closer to the eternal light of God's guidance.
