Spartan Saturday — Olympia Vale

A child prodigy with innate linguistic skill, Olympia Vale became fluent in Sangheili to pass the time on a prolonged trip to Earth. After graduating from university, Vale followed in her mother's footsteps and joined ONI.

Vale became a liaison between the UEG and the Swords of Sanghelios, eventually participating in a joint mission to the Ark where she proved to be a capable soldier as well. Following this, she was recruited as a Spartan-IV and assigned to Fireteam Osiris.

During the Created crisis, Spartan Vale was stationed on Sanghelios, where she worked closely with Arbiter Thel 'Vadam and others within his faction. In late 2559, Vale became involved in a hunt for a weapon that could defeat Cortana's Guardians.

Happy birthday to Spartan Tomas Horvath!

Today is his -504th birthday!

Horvath was an ODST until an equipment malfunction left him with a shattered spine. He was offered the opportunity to join the SPARTAN program, whose augmentations would permit him to not only recover, but become stronger than before. He accepted and was attached to Spartan-IV Fireteam Intrepid. Horvath was present during the siege of Infinity and the battle for Zeta Halo. He was separated from the rest of the survivors, as the fragment of the ring that he was on was not connected to where most of the survivors crash-landed. He wandered Zeta Halo alone, disrupting Banished operations where he could.

During his time alone, he discovered the remains of a skirmish and a severely-wounded Gorian, a Jiralhanae Bloodstar who was pinned and dying. Seeing as though they were both stuck and at a disadvantage, the two agreed to a truce until they could get off the fragment, at which point they could have a fair fight. Horvath was eventually able to ride an Aggressor sentinel off the fragment, but was impaled by it upon impact. Gorian found him but, true to his word, freed Horvath the same way he had freed him, and agreed to kill him only when it was fair.

Once he was on his feet again, he continued to wander the ring, searching for survivors. His current status is unknown.

In canon (~2560), he is turning 32!

How do you feel about the Spartan-IVs? You seem to be pretty proprietary (might be the wrong word) of Spartan-IIs, so I'm just curious.

Hadn't really thought about that.

When I talk about the past... that's just how it was, with the other Spartan-IIs. I was responsible for them. My team. My people. I knew all of them. They knew me.

Spartan-IVs are different. Physically. Culturally.

They're Spartans, but they're not Spartans the same way.

They're strangers.

Yeahhh, I have no more motivation to work on this further, so here is my Spartan-IV and Circ [with a human to accompany her usual appearance]

The regular trooper/marine rules comes first, as that's the core of the system I want to make, but I have a deep love for the Spartan IVs, and how they're pulled from the rank and file just like the ODSTs are. For players who want a less cannon fodder/osr/die-in-three-shots kind of experience, I'm keen to include mechanical variants that help you play as a Spartan IV from the POV of a regular soldier. That is to say, a S-IV that feels exceptionally lethal with all the regular equipment and trappings the regular troops can pick up and use (Gen 2 MJOLNIR armor withstanding)

Spartan Saturday — Frank Kodiak

Serving as a foot soldier in the Human-Covenant War, Frank Kodiak lost his right arm to N'tho 'Sraom's energy sword during a battle in the 2540s. He received a battle-grade prosthetic and became Spartan-IV after the war.

In 2555, an urgent joint UNSC-Swords of Sanghelios mission to Installation 00 led to Kodiak's reunion with the very same Sangheili who had maimed him. However, Kodiak came to forgive 'Sraom over the course of the mission's harrowing events.

If you had the chance to build a Four-man Spartan 4 Dream-team made out of any Spartan 4 you've read about, met, encountered, or otherwise know of. Who would you pick? And would any members from team Osiris make the cut?

Maybe.

Tricky part in team assignment is you need to know how the whole team works together. Strong individuals don't mean much without the rapport. One personality malfunction can crack the whole foundation.

I don't know any of them well enough to make an assignment like that.
