HOW I’VE BEEN SUCESSFULLY LOSING WEIGHT: Notes from a former binge eater ♥️
*this guide is to show how ~I~ do things and offer advice on how to do it MY way. I am in no way encouraging anyone to do themselves harm. First off,
HEALTH IS WEALTH.
That being said.. this is literally the longest I’ve ever gone without bingeing. It’s just,,, easy this time. Once you get a feel of what it’s like to be skinny you just don’t crave junk as much anymore bc you KNOW it’s not worth it. The trick is to eat clean 90% of the time and allow your favorite treats 10% do the time. Fit them into your calorie limit!!! Here’s some personal favorites that have helped me lose like 20lbs in the past 2 months.
I tend to do one higher- calorie drink during the day (protein shake, Starbucks, etc) and one healthy filling but low cal meal and a sweet snack at the end of the night.
LOW CALORIE 90%
Mediterranean salad (~150): mixed greens, chopped bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, red onion. Little bit of feta cheese. Balsamic vinegar (not dressing or vinegarette!!!!) I don’t add meat but you could totally add chicken for low cal high protein choice. You could also add olives but I don’t fw them.
Chocolate Protein shakes from the gas station (loll). They’re 220 cal on average and a great treat. Strawberry one is good too.
SEAWEED SNACKS they’re literally 30-60 calories for a pack and kill my urge to eat chips!!! Please give them a try!
Soups. Soups that are already portioned and have the calorie amount posted. I add extra seasonings and spice to boost metabolism.
Coffee!! With almond milk and a little coffee creamer. It’s worth the calories if you want a coffee just make one it’s better than going to Starbucks.
Sushi: I’m vegetarian so I get an avocado and cucumber roll. It’s so good with fresh ginger and a little soy sauce. Sometimes I will be craving it allllllll day and have it as my OMAD so rewarding 🥹
Miso soup>>>>>> add tofu and seaweed and onions!! And mushrooms if you like them.
Monster Ultra energy drinks,,,, yeah I know they’re bad for you but I love them.
Fruits!!! I especially love strawberries, watermelon, cherries, blackberries, pineapple and mangoes.
TREATS 10%
Trail mix: dried cherries, pecans, walnuts, pistachios, cashews. High in calories but perfect for killing hunger. High protein keeps you full and muscles strong, high healthy fats will keep your hair and skin and nails beautiful.
Chocolates: SMALL PORTIONS. if you can’t eat just eat a piece without bingeing, do NOT buy a big bag. what I do is I buy a bar of whatever chocolate I’m craving for my bf and we share it piece by piece. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white, hazelnut, with coffee beans, with toffee, fruits, chocolate is the best thing ever 🍫
Starbucks! My fav drinks are matcha lattes (hot/iced), iced white chocolate mocha, caramel macchiato, and occasionally a pumpkin spice latte. Peppermint mochas on the holidays. Oat milk always
Baked goods. Same deal as the chocolate, ONLY BUY THE PORTION YOURE GOING TO EAT. If you have been craving a croissant, go get one. One. Don’t buy a whole dozen of them. You will end up bingeing trust me. My favs are cinnamon rolls <3
Habits
I’m going to the gym!!! Consistently for the first time in my life. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Spend 30 min on the treadmill alternating between incline walking and easy paced jogging. Put on a YouTube video. Wear pink and bring a cute water bottle. You have to make an experience out of it! I stick to cardio and full body stretches plus ocasional (light) strength workouts w my bf.
I don’t drink anymore. Just 🍃. Alc is so high in sugar and carbs and it’s literally poison bro. I know it’s hard to stop but once you do you’ll feel so much better.
I rarely weigh myself. I’m at my bfs house all the time so I only step on my scale maybe 3 times a month. It’s been a game changer!!!
MINDSET
I practice mindfulness and speak kindly to myself. Basically sweetspo + affirmations to myself all the time.
Taking more pride in your appearance will also help motivate you. You think you’ll still want to binge after you took a full body shower, clean PJ’s or outfit, painted your nails, skincare and makeup done, whitened your teeth and lit a candle? No thanks.
Limit stupid, negative, useless media consumption. Watch things that have to do with your hobbies/ interests and your social media algorithms begin to kinda clean themselves up over time. My pages are all about exercise, study blogs, beauty tips and sciencey stuff. No more drama or celebrity nonsense. Cut down your following!!
Remember you only have one life on earth. You’re young and hot once. Don’t you want to grab this chance while you have it? Unfortunately your beauty is your currency especially as a woman, so if there’s anything I can do to give myself a better life I will. Losing just a few pounds of fat will make the craziest difference in ways you’d never expect. Free and discounted stuff. More people smile at you and listen to what you have to say. Both literal and figurative doors will be opened for you.Clothes fit better bc they’re more flattering when your body is fit and healthy. While it feels good to get validation from other people, the best part of it is looking in the mirror and feeling proud instead of ashamed. The inner confidence that comes from successful transformation………….there’s no other feeling that compares. If you know, you know. I’m just saying,, the choice is yours 🤷🏼‍♀️

As requested by @theannoyingurge let's take a detour from our regular schedule and talk food preservation in medival settings / before everybody had a refrigerator so you can write the bg3 fic of ur dreams and be realistic even with details that keep getting in ur way:
Underground cellars/basements. No rly. They can be incredible cool even in summer or even if they're not too deep, and they've been used to ripen and store food such as wine or cheese or meat since ages. Cooling and freezing has been no new invention, we've been refrigerating food (where possible aka northern regions and those with real winters) since forever. The only difference is that it's more convenient nowadays.
Your food can't spoil if you let it rot deliberately aka fermenting. Whether it's fruits and vegetables, honey and grape wines, beer, cheese, or soy sauce. People have been using fermentation since ancient times to preserve foods. Remember Surströmming? The canned fish that smells incredibly bad? Yeah that's just fermented fish.
My personal fav: The burial method. Foods would be burried in dry soil (the deeper u go the cooler it gets) to protect from, well, the sun, but also and very importantly, pests and that stuff. Sometimes the food would also be tightly packed in salts or some marinades to infuse some flavour and to dry it out even better, it's a method still used today for food such as Graved Lachs (lit. buried salmon) a 'delicacy' and yeah shit tastes awesome actually I highly recommend trying it.
Can't have fermenting without pickling. Even ancient Romans loved pickles. Everyone knows that wine can turn into vinegar, and guess what they took advantage of. Also you can pickle pretty much everything. Fish, meat, fruits, veggies. It's edible? You can pickle it. And apparently people will.
Boiling stuff with sugar or honey, aka, making jams and jellies. Sugar can preserve food, and while they didn't have those cute lil glasses we do, they still very much enjoyed their jam. Ofc this was used primarily for sweeter foods. Strawberry jam has been used as a treat for God knows how long. You wouldn't believe how old some cake recipes really are.
Curing and smoking: a method we still very much use to this day to make sausages and prepare other sorts of meat and fish. People have ever since loved the smoke flavour and dangerous amounts of salt. Jerky is certainly no new invention.
Drying: yep. Grain, nuts, fruits, veggies. Lots of shit lasts nearly forever if its purposefully dried. Just make sure you don't screw it up and treat the not yet so dry produces carefully. Garlic ropes may keep out vampires but the biggest advantage is that it'll keep it from spoiling so fast.
And most importantly; the take only what you need approach. You need only 2 tomatoes? Only pluck 2 off the vine. You need meat 3 days from now? Well, only get it on the day you'll need it. You need bread today? Bake it today. People we're very conscious about their foods and what they needed. Doesn't hurt to leave the apple on the tree for one more day if it's not close to overripe already.
Now for the fun part, the random trivia regarding food;
Originally it was a woman's job to brew the beer
Beer can be used as food and it often was used as a cheap tavern food or in times of need
Island nations and coastal regions love to eat fresh, raw fish. A lot of culture from this region somehow includes raw fish in their cuisine for a plethora of reasons. Coastal people love their raw fish. Also algae. They do love algae too
Not a single hair on an animal was wasted. Hair = brushes, fat = soaps and cosmetics, blood = can be cooked and eaten. Blood sausages and all that stuff. Lamb's intestines were famously used as condoms. I meant it when I said everything.
The 'trash' meat aka scraps and very non tasty looking stuff was mixed with grain and fried in times where food was rare. Great source of protein and very filling.
Meat was expensive, so it was rare to come by and very much valued.
Normal middle/lower class people would often only eat the "good stuff" once a week or on special occasions.
During outbreaks of the pest and other illnesses even kids drank beer. Water was too dirty and contaminated.
In fact the primary drinks were wines, beers, ales all that stuff. Water had to be boiled first.
Pretty much everything that wasn't poisonous would be eaten by people. Wasting food really didn't happen a lot outside of the upper class.
Religion was heavily influenced by food. Meat will spoil very quickly in the deserts heat, a sober soldier fights better than a drunk one, fish is rare outside of coastal towns so it's expensive and rare, cows are much more useful if they're alive rather than dead, you took a life to feed yourself so be responsible about it, that kinda shit. Food influences religion. Has always done that.
Hope this helps or this is what u were looking for. I somehow crave Graved Lachs now so I shall hunt some in the supermarket or smth.

Per the University of California, Berkeley, a mussel's foot secretes thin, hair-like strands of liquid proteins, called byssal threads. These byssal threads anchor the animal to the surface of its choosing.
These creatures make a mixture of proteins, which have a unique chemical group called catechol. "It introduces a type of cross-linking chemistry that you don't get with normal proteins," Wilker continued. "We took some compounds that have some of the chemistry we see in the sea creatures, and we added that to the system."
The researchers also took the petroleum-based epoxy compound and substituted in epoxidized soy oil, as soy oil is "one of the most widely produced sustainable organic materials," according to Wilker.
Though Wilker was careful not to make promises, he relayed that this innovative glue system has an fairly low environnmental footprint.

Ive had this idea stuck in my head for months now and I got reminded of it today - I want some p2-flavor soypilled forcefem degeneracy in the vegan hardline apocalypse bunker, idfc if it makes no logistical sense or how they got there
I want Patrick to start growing tits from eating nothing but raw soy full of phytoestrogens (this is all fake-science man0sphere BS but shush) and now all the brainfucked stir-crazy dudes in this shitty bunker are giving him Looks, bc these homophobic hardline idiots locked themselves and their naive teen boy proteges in an underground silo with lots of guns and soy protein powder and NO WOMEN and they can't just fuck each other bc That's Gay but now Patrick's hair is getting long and his chest and hips are getting soft and full and he's looking reaaaaal pretty all of a sudden, and everyone's starting to notice but Pete is especially Noticing, and Pete is also Noticing how much attention patrick is getting from everyone else, so he just ends up hovering near patrick constantly, always touching him somewhere on his body to demonstrate that he belongs to pete and no one else. He loves to stick his hands up Patrick's shirt and grope his growing breasts, and patrick is kind of pissed that he does this in the common areas too, but his chest IS achey and sore, and Pete's hands feel sooooo good massaging his tits, he doesn't want to make him STOP.... They have sex for the first time in the bunker kitchen while patrick is doing the dishes, pete fucking patrick from behind against the metal sink while he calls patrick Pretty and Beautiful and Doll, tells him he was meant to be his wife and how he's going to put a baby in his belly and make him a mommy over and over and over again, every chance he can get, so Patrick can be his pretty girl forever

《BAKUGO! M! READER X BLUE LOCK》
《CROSS POSTED TO WATTPAD》
《WARNINGS!: Mentions of death, kind of crack fic, curse words, kind of explicit words, slight angst, lazy writing, crossover MHA x Blue Lock》
"SHUT UP YOU DAMN LOSERR!!"
Of course. Early to bed and early to rise makes (Name) a massive bitch.
You'd think that for a guy with such a good reputation among his fellow football players would have a good personality, wouldn't you?
No, turns out they were only talking about his skills. In real life, his personality is worse then trash. With anger issues, a superiority complex, and an inferiority complex, he also has a foul mouth that goes with his foul attitude.
"Who are you call a loser, PUNK?!" And Raichi, an equally hot headed football geek.
No, he's not a pokemon.
With how hot headed the both of them are, they're constantly butting head in disagreements, sometimes even getting into physical fights because of such disagreements.
Everyone is annoyed by it.
"YOU HEARD ME, SHIT HEAD! OPEN UP YOUR DAMN EARS FOR ONCE AND MAYBE YOU WON'T BE DEAF!" (Name) shouted incredibly loud, making everyone wince as he glared at Raichi fiercely, his red eyes almost glowing from rage.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP, HUNK OF JUNK! YOU AIN'T WORTH SHIT!" Raichi fired back, showing off his sharp teeth with a scowl while (Name) scoffed, everyone in the room with them sighing annoyed.
"WORTH MORE THAN YOU, OBVIOUSLY!" (Name) snarled like a dog, eyes enlarged with veins showing while Yoichi sweated in the back, trying to hold him back before (Name) threw him back effortlessly. Damn. RIP Yoichi, you will be missed. But some were eyeing his muscle with faint blushes.
"SAY THAT TO MY FACE, BITCH!-" Pokémon bitch attempted to shout, before a someone got annoyed and interrupted.
The girls were fighting.
"OH MY GOD WE GET IT YOU'RE BOTH GAY SHUT UP!" Bachira shouted, quickly quieting everyone down as they stared at him in silent horror, some even praying for him as they waited for the blondes to explode.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP, DUNCE FACE!-" The girls are back at it.
Tumblr media
"Hey, Bakubro! How's everyone treating you?" Kirishima asked, glad that his calls are actually getting through.
(Name) actually scored enough goals to get his phone back, so he took the chance to call back anyone who was blowing up his notifications (his mom, shitty hair, dunce face, racoon eyes, soy sauce, and Deku, who he blocked before,) and of course the best comes first.
So he called Shitty hair back first.
"I don't care about them. How's Dunce face and Racoon eyes? Are they stealing my shit again?" He asked, getting straight to the point as he finished his work sheet, noticing how everyone slightly quieted down to hear the call.
"... Haha, no! In fact, I haven't seen them act this good in your room before!" He said, noticeably not talking in the beginning, as if he was staring at someone or someone was talking to him. He calls bullshit.
"They're stealing my protein powder, aren't they?" He said, voice bland and face stoic, just waiting for the other to confirm what he said as the other in the room sent glances to each other, sometimes even sneaking a peek at his face.
"Yeah man I'm sorry. But! Good news, I got the job! So I'll be able to pay you back when you get back! No worries! Oh, and Deku was trying to call you too! He wanted to asked what it was like to be with the best football teens in one place!" The red head chuckled, listening to the pink haired girl and the charge bolt boy thank him profusely before waving them off, waiting for the blonde boy to speak.
"Tell Deku that I ain't telling him shit. And tell the old hag that when I get back, I want some spicy tofu! Spicy enough it makes my taste buds bleed!" (Name) shouted, grinning his evil grin like he always does when he's hyped about something, which makes the red haired boy on the other end laugh wildly. (Name) can't wait until he gets home and is able to eat the spicy tofu his mom makes. The shit they call spicy tofu here isn't even spicy, it barely even burns.
(Everyone else is scared of what his definition of spicy is. The spicy tofu they give him looks like death.)
"Yeah, okay! Oh- sorry, your mom's calling us, I'm gonna hafta hang up!" Kirishima said, loud enough that those close enough heard him clearly.
"Kay." A loose reply.
"See ya, Bakubro!" Affection through words, Kirishima loves telling him that.
"Kay." Another loose reply. Man, he is so tempted to just hang up.
"Say it back!" Kirishima whined, making (Name) feel as though he was able to just see the pout and teary eyes he gets when he's joking around dramatically.
"No." Then he hung up.
Tumblr media
"Hey, hot head, let's play 21 questions!" Bachira asked (more like demanded- but (Name) is the same, if not more stubborn-) dribbling a ball as he lightly treaded on the grass, playing with (Name) to pass time until one of them got annoyed.
"Fuck no." Sharp reply. (Name) didn't want this creepy 'monster' boy to know anything important about him. The way he kept talking about a 'monster' being in him and telling him what to do and who to talk to? Creepy. It's a miracle that he's even talking to him now.
"Aw, why not?!" Bitch boy Bachira whined, gaining a fake pout while (Name) scoffed, stealing the ball and running quickly, making a goal before Bachira got the the ball, continuing their 'conversation.'
"'Cause I don't fuckin' like you." Truer words have never been spoken. Whenn he dies, he wants 'my only regret is not flipping more people off' on his tombstone.
"Aw:(" (Name) wondered how the FUCK he said that out loud. Fuck, sometimes he wanted to put that boy in full body cast.
"Shut yo goofy ass up." Amazing. He's barely been talking to this fuck face for 5 minutes and he already wants to throw him under a bus.
"Anyway, let me go first! What's the color of your nipples."
"..."
"What's the color of your nipples."
"I'm fucking done with you. Get the fUCK AWAY FROM ME YOU FREAK-"
Tumblr media
"Hey, brat! You know better then to call me while I'm at work! I already know to make spicy tofu when I get home!-" Mitsuki said, answering her ringing phone with a rough voice as she began to change her clothes, looking at the ones her dear husband made himself with admiration.
"Excuse me, are you Bakugo (Name)'s guardian?" A sudden cold voice interrupted her, making her pause before looking at her phone, making sure it was (Name)'s number.
"Uh- Yeah? Listen, if he's in trouble just tell me where he is-" Suddenly feeling unsettled, she felt like something bad was about to happen. But that always happens with (Name). Sometimes he gets too mad and just beats someone up for being arrogant or something. Maybe he was in jail or something.
"I'm sorry to tell you this, but your son has been involved stabbing incident. He's in surgery right now.. We don't think he's going to survive." The cold voice said, and Mitsuki felt her heart drop. That couldn't be right. No, her little boy was always careful when out and about. Even if he was tired, he made sure that he knew where he was going and what to avoid. This had to be some elaborate prank his friends thought of.
"... Huh? Hey, if this is a joke, it's not very funny. Put him on the phone, let me talk to him." She demanded, putting her clothes back on before she stormed out, trying to find her husband frantically.
"This isn't a joke. He's at Musutafu hospital, Shizuoka Prefecture. I imagine you would want to spend his last moments together." Then a click and it went quiet.
"MASARU!"
Tumblr media
"This morning the young football prodigy, Bakugo (Name) was discovered to have died at a local hospital in Musutafu, in Shizuoka Prefecture after being a victim to a stabbing by an unknown stalker. Witnesses and CCTV footage have said and shown that he was walking when a man wearing a black hoodie and sweats ran up with a knife and stabbed him in the stomach. Officials still do not understand why the man did this. In later news, we'll talk about the wake and funeral of this young star. Thoughts and prayers to his parents."

For the ask game:
what are 3 things you'd say shaped you into who you are?
what's an inside joke you have with your family or friends?
what's some good advice you want to share?
For the Ask Game!
What are 3 things you'd say shaped you into who you are?
Friends, places/locations that I've lived (California, San Francisco, etc.), and the experiences that I've had. Very cliché in a way but it's the truth.
What's an inside joke you have with your family or friends?
With my roommate: a very obnoxious fake Jon Snow vibe: "She's ma queen, I don't want it." anytime we don't like or don't want to do something a la the disastrous and just horrendous season 8 of game of thrones. I hope my fanfiction writing is never as bad as that catastrophe.
It's mostly a long list of like variant versions of back and forth echolalia with my roommate because we're both ND and that's just how we roll, honestly.
What's some good advice you want to share?
Here's some medical advice I've had to learn over the last few months through my own issues and fighting to find out what's wrong. Also shout out to the failures of the US's scholastic teachings (mitochondria is the power house of the cell lolol):
Advocate for yourself and remember that you're the only one who will. You don't know medicine maybe, but you know when something isn't working the way it should in your body.
Hydration affects every bodily function including your heart and your dry eyes (omega-3s also affect eyes). Drink water and eat your fruit and veg with higher water content (cucumbers, watermelon, etc.).
If you're a vegetarian, pescetarian, vegan, or just don't consume too many meats and animal products, check if you're vitamin B12 levels (energy) are okay. It's the only way to get them as they aren't produced in the body. Legumes and soy are all fine and dandy for protein, but not B12. B12 is a required nutrient and affects the skin, hair, liver, heart, etc.
If you live in the Pacific Northwest or other far northern climes and/or you don't get out a lot and/or you don't eat a lot of animal byproducts, please check your Vitamin D levels! Also affects heart, brain, skin, etc. Your body does make vit D naturally, but that assumes that you're getting enough time in the sun for you to produce it and that you don't have any underlying issues that affect it's production and/or absorption. Vit D levels also affect your body's calcium intake, which especially for AFAB people, can affect bone health and the likelihood of osteoporosis later in life.
Movement (as much as you can) will keep you alive and your circulation flowing. Even if it's just one part of your body, move it. Stand up and move every half hour if you can.
Sleep matters. Undisturbed sleep matters. Movement helps sleep.
Soreness is okay. Tiredness is okay. Exhaustion, constant fatigue, and long-term pain is an indication that something is wrong.
Stress will kill you.
Different fruits and veg have different nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. Don't just eat the leafy greens because they're "healthiest".
Relationships take work. Not really, "how do I improve and make things better all the time (though this can be important)", but just reaching out and saying "hi how are you" every so often.
If it took you 20 years to get to a point, it's going to take more than a couple of weeks to reverse it.
If your body is telling you to rest and you can, do it.
You spend the latter half of your 20s making adjustments and changes to the life that you've been leading. Everyone goes through this and it's normal. You're a little crazy until the 30s/40s. That's fine. Roll with it. Your life is just getting started.
Life is hard. Life is so hard. It has it's ups and downs. Enjoy that cup of coffee or that cup of tea or 5 min in the sun.
Community matters more.
Stop trying to "better yourself" all the time. You're probably a fine person with fine and great qualities. You can improve, but spend time just being or else life will pass you by and you won't have a lot to say for it.
You're doing better than you think you are.

Narancia whines when he can’t be by your side. He’s your guy- your man! It totally blows to have to go on jobs where he can’t see you, but he’s held to a certain standard in passione. He can’t slack just because there’s a bombshell in his life- whether you’d agree that you’re actually in his life or not is debatable. To you, he’s just some kid that keeps showing up on your shifts at Libeccio.
And God you hate that job. There isn’t a moment of peace in there. There’s this group of men- You might have noted that some are actually late teenagers, young adults max- that practically rent the place out, tourists pile in all throughout the summer and don’t treat you like a person, sometimes people come in who don’t even speak italian- it just sucks. What’s worse is you’re actually waiting tables today instead of hiding in the kitchen. Your boss insisted- Bucciarati’s “sons” are here, whoever that is, so you have to put on that pretty smile of yours and go humor god knows who.
When you go over to take that table’s order, you can feel the migraine coming on. The guy with the- GUN? Ohh, you’re absolutely never getting used to the mafiosi that live around here. The guy with the hat is asking those “what if” questions again. Part of you wants to correct him, vegetarians can use leather, they just don’t eat meat, you can get protein from soy, there’s also different types of shoes than leather, but you don’t really have the time. You just take orders, give it to the kitchen, hover over your tables a bit, and leave. It looks like blondie’s ripping into him today, but the other one’s quiet. Weird. He’s normally such a talker.
Whatever. You come over and do your normal song and dance. The blond guy, Panna, you’d wager, does most of the talking and ordering normally, but it looks like the little one wants to talk to you today- and over him.
“What’s your name?” He practically trips over himself to ask. Pannacotta makes the most disgusted face you’ve ever seen.
“Narancia, you did fucking not just interrupt me to pry. I am so sorry. He’s a bit behind, please ignore him.” You can’t see under the table, but you should know Narancia’s getting stepped on under there.
You just tap the little nametag on your apron in response. You’re used to humoring nosy customers, and the name on your tag isn’t even yours. You repeat your question, tapping your little memo pad with your pen.
“Oh, uh. The usual. So anyway, my name is Narancia. It’s nice to meet you. You’re really pretty.”
You’re not really sure how to take that, considering this is absolutely not the first time you've met. Blondie just smacked Narancia on the back of his head, and is profusely apologizing on Narancia’s behalf. Should you be insulted? Should you be flattered? He’s been eyeing you since he walked in, but you figured he just has a staring problem or something.
You suck it up and stop yourself from expressing how much you don’t want to hear that from a customer. After you get what you need, you excuse yourself and remind them to call for you if they need something. Or someone else. Preferably someone else, you little weirdo…
Narancia is in such a good mood after that. You actually spoke to him! He’s practically beaming, and the table is relatively quiet for the rest of their stay, minus the chiding. When you come to give them the receipt that they get to take home, he’s all jittery. He takes it right out of your hand despite Mr Tiger Pants paying.
And when he gets home, he pins it on his little corkboard of all the receipts you’ve ever given him. In front of it lives a pen you used to use when you first got this job, in a cup you gave him, and a couple of your hairs he found on the floor near the kitchen door. He’s assuming it’s your hair, anyway…

I'm A Woman Struggling To Get Wet... - xoNecole: Women's Interest, Love, Wellness, Beauty
Shellie R. WarrenSep. 29, 2021 06:40AM EST
I love being a woman. I really do. I'm reminded of this, every time I read, research or revisit something about us that is so intricately designed that I can't help but smile. And yes, vaginal lubrication is on the list. Aside from the fact that it helps to make sexual intercourse so much more pleasurable (because the wetter we are, the less friction and/or pain that we feel), when the glands in our cervix and vaginal walls produce lubricant, it also helps to keep our genitalia from tearing or experiencing some other type of injury.
While it should go on record that on the wetness tip, there is cervical fluid (it's what switches up based on where we are on our cycles), vaginal sweat (which comes from the sweat glands) and white secretion (which is what many think comes out when we squirt), when it comes to actual lubrication and what we need to keep us "wet enough", it's cervical fluid — a fluid that's made up of carbohydrates, proteins, and amino acids — that's most essential. When this isn't flowing as consistently or as much as you're used to, it's usually a sign that one (or more) of the following seven things are happening. Are you ready to learn more about what those things actually are?
1. Dehydration
I will be the first person to say that water is boring. The way I tend to describe it is, it's like drinking wet air. That doesn't change the fact that we all need it — every part of us too. For instance, did you know that one telling sign that you very well could be dehydratedis if your vagina isn't producing enough lubrication? This doesn't just mean your actual vagina (the internal canal that goes all the way up to your cervix) but your vulva (your labia which consists of your outer and inner lips) too. When that happens, it could lead to vaginal irritation which could eventually trigger a vaginal infection. So, if you can't remember the last time that you had 6-8 glasses of water in a day, let this be your inspiration. A wet vagina is a healthy vagina and water certainly helps to make it all possible.
2. Hormonal Imbalance
This point right here is a bit of a doozy because all kinds of things can play a role in your hormones being a bit off kilter including your period, pregnancy, perimenopause (the years that lead into menopause) and menopause itself. The reason why is because estrogen plays a really big role in how much lubrication your vagina produces. This means that when this particular hormone level is low, it can result in your walls feeling dry, thinning out or becoming inflamed.
What this all boils down to overall is you should be proactive about keeping your hormones balanced. You can do this by first seeing your doctor if you sense that things are a bit "off". Also, there are things that you can do at home including consuming more protein, exercising, keeping your stress levels down (more on that in a bit), drinking green tea (it helps to keep your insulin levels intact which ultimately can keep your hormones balanced out) and getting a good night's rest — not some of the time…all of the time.
3. Poor Diet
Having a poor diet affects everything about us. No doubt about that. That said, did you know that in order for your vagina to remain "moisturized", you need to consume less salt, sugar, alcohol, soy and fried foods because all of these are linked to dehydration? Instead, check out the article that I wrote a while back entitled "These Foods Will Give Your Skin & Hair The Moisture They Crave". Also, foods that contain a lot of water (like watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, zucchini and lettuce) and foods that are high in fatty acids (like raw pumpkin, tuna, spinach, flaxseeds and Brussels Sprouts) can help you to get those juices flowing too.
4. Infections
When you've got a vaginal infection, it can literally infect the mucous lining of your vagina and that can lead to dryness as well. Which infections can cause this to happen the most? From what I've read and researched, it's bacterial and yeast infections that top the list. Surprisingly enough, an STD doesn't typically lead to women not producing enough lubrication. Either way, if you're experiencing burning, itching, irritation, change in discharge or yes, vaginal dryness and none of the other things on this list seem to check out, make an appointment to see your doctor. There could be an infection lurking around that you didn't know was happening.
5. Depression
Remember how I talked about estrogen a little while ago? Well, another indication that yours may be lower than it should is if you are feeling signs of being depressed — anxiety, a low libido, sleeplessness, constant fatigue, helplessness, irritability, excessive crying, overeating or undereating, constant negativity and/or suicidal thoughts. The reason why low estrogen is tied into all of this is because, when estrogen is flowing well throughout your system, it helps to trigger the production of serotonin which helps to keep you in a positive mood. That's why, if you sense that you may be depressed, it's a good idea to not only speak with a reputable counselor/therapist but to get your hormone levels checked too. Sometimes, a little bit of hormone therapy can get things back to where they're supposed to be — from head to toe.
6. Wack Ass Foreplay
A couple of years ago, GQ published an article that made me chuckle a bit. The title was "This Is How Long Sex Should Last (From a Woman's Point of View)". The reason why I found it to be so humorous is because, once again, it's a reminder that there is entertainment culture and then there is real life. While I have shared before that it typically takes us somewhere between 20-25 minutes to climax while it only takes guys (on average) a whopping five minutes (chile), what the article stated (according to some polls) is most women only need (and even want) 11 minutes of foreplay and 10 minutes of intercourse — contrary to all of those R&B songs about having sex all night long.
Listen, I believe I've still got a good three rounds in me (I think…LOL); however, I've had past sex partners who seemed to go on and on FOREVER and all it did was lead to soreness. So no, I don't think most of us want to have sex for hours on end. At the same time, a guy who sucks at foreplay is someone who can definitely cause your vagina to not be very impressed — and a great sign that "she's" not is if she remains dry. Barely damp even. Moral to the story? A great lover is gonna make you more than moist. You can take that to the bank every time.
7. Stress
The older I get, the less I allow stressful people, places, things and ideas infiltrate my space. I refuse to choose to let things wreck my physical health and peace of mind. You shouldn't either because, aside from a billion other things that stress has a tendency to do, one that goes oftentimes overlooked is it can — yep, you guessed it — result in your vagina not getting as wet as it should. How? Well, when you're mentally or emotionally anxious, upset or tense, that can affect your blood circulation and that can hinder vaginal lubrication. Why would you let someone or something dry out your vagina when you can prevent it? For the sake of your health and well-being, please do (prevent it), sis.

vi really likes dollar store shampoo and conditioner! specifically V05, the one you can get anywhere. it's actually pretty good stuff and gets the job done for him, sulphates aside. the soy milk protein helps too. like yeah he has his more expensive products he uses when he wants to take the time, but when he just wants to hop in and out of the shower, he prefers that $1 V05. his fave ones are
blackberry sage tea
strawberries and cream
ocean refresh
idk they're just right for him! they get the job done and they smell good. he's not looking to re-invent the wheel. also his hair is lush as hell by nature, he doesnt need a boost.

[ID: A TikTok of a Chinese girl with long hair dyed pink at the ends cooking in a kitchen. The video is captioned.
Cutting and tearing a cabbage in half, she says "When I was on my college dance team, we used to perform at all the football games." Chopping the cabbage up, she says "My mom would tailgate every game." Shaking salt onto the chopped cabbage, in a bowl, she says "Instead of bringing typical tailgate food, she would bring trays of Chinese food." Mixing the cabbage and salt together with her hands, she says "One of the things would always be spring rolls: who doesn't love fried stuff. I just chopped up some Napa cabbage, salted and massaged." She holds the bowl up to the camera. "Now we love her, leave her alone to release it's moisture." She places the bowl off-camera. She says "Chop up some shittake mushrooms, carrots, green onions, cilantro-- if you have a soap gene, just leave it out," as she cuts up those respective foods. "And then we need ginger and garlic," she says, holding up a garlic clove. She smacks her hand against the flat side of a knife on top of a garlic clove, making a "boop!" sound effect.
Now standing at a stove with a pot on it and pouring in some oil, she says "Now we cook up our filling. Carrots first 'cause it's a harder veggie." She pours in the carrots and starts stirring it with a wooden spatula. "Sauté and let that cook down, and add in my mushrooms and green onions." She adds those in. She tilts up the pan slightly to show the camera, then says "Once the mushrooms start to cook down I'm gonna push everything to the side," and does so. She holds up a large chunk of meat and says "I've decided to add like a half a pound of ground turkey." Adding it to the pot and chopping and stirring it with her spatula, she says "Use any ground protein you want, you can leave this meatless-- I'm simply doing this because I should probably eat more protein." She tilts the pan up again to show progress and says "Once it's majority of the way cooked I'm adding in my garlic and ginger, and sauté aggressively!" She adds in those ingredients and mixes them energetically. The pot is steaming now. She says "now we add in soy, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, just a touch of sugar, white pepper--no measurements just vibes--cornstarch to keep everything moist," as she adds in those ingredients, and then says "cut the heat and then add in some sesame oil." She does so and then stirs it around again, saying "Final stir...stunning." She tips the pot up to view once more-- the ingredients have been thoroughly mixed.
Back at the counter, she holds up the bowl of cabbage and says "Cabbage has been sitting, it's released all its moisture. Now we rinse well and squeeze out all the cabussy juices. You already know the deal." She makes a squeezing motion with her hands as she says this. Holding the pot from the stove above the bowl, she says "to the cabbage, we add our meat and veggie mixture, and the cilantro." She mixes both of these in. Now with a bowl of white noodles in front of her, she says "The last and final piece of the filling is the vermicelli noodles." She holds the noodles, which are very thin and white, up out of the water and says "These are mung bean vermicelli noodles-- when they're dry, they look like this." She shows a packet of dry noodles, which are all stuck together. "I've just been soaking these in warm water." Taking the bowl of noodles, now without water, she says "Strained them. Now using kitchen shears, just cut them into smaller pieces." She does this, holding the kitchen shears in the bowl and slicing. She empties the noodles into the bowl and says "now add those noodles in, give that a good mix." Mixing the noodles in, she says "I love using vermicelli noodles in my spring rolls 'cause it acts as a sponge: all of those extra juices and sauces will soak into the noodles, keeping all the flavors really strong but also keeping the outside really crispy and the inside really moist."
Taking flat squares of dough out of a package, she says "Now the fun part, we get to roll up. Best part of the day! Take your sheet, face it like a diamond." She lays the sheet out so that its facing her and the camera in a diamond shape. "Add some of the filling, not too much." She adds filling on the side of the square facing her. "Fold over the bottom corner. Tuck it, make sure there's no air." She folds up the corner of the dough over the filling and tucks it in. "When you get to the side corners, tuck those in." She tucks the two side corners over the roll. "Continue the roll. Then at the last corner, brush with a little egg wash (egg beaten with a little water.)" She brushes the roll with a small brush. "Then complete the roll. Now you have the perfect little spring roll!" She holds the roll up to the camera.
At the stove again with a pot, she says "I have some oil heating up-- not making too much today." She holds up a chopstick. "Chopstick test!" It shows the chopstick in the pot of oil, with bubbles coming off of the submerged chopstick. "It's bubbling so it's ready." Holding up a spring roll in chopsticks, she says "Carefully drop them in." It shows the spring rolls frying in the oil. As she gently turns them around with the chopsticks, she says "Because I don't have a lot of oil in here, I'm kinda flipping them around, but they should only take about 5 minutes." Removing them from the oil with chopsticks and setting them on a tray, she says "Once they're golden brown, you can carefully remove." It shows the fried rolls sitting out on a tray as she says "Crispy crispy." She scrapes off a roll with a knife, chops it in half, and holds the halves up to the camera so you can see the insides. "Just beautiful." Now with several rolls on a plate, she pours some sauce into a bowl and says "These don't even really need a sauce but we're just gonna add one anyways. This is a nuoc mam." She holds a half veggie roll up to the camera and says "First bite bestie," before dipping it into the sauce and taking a bite. She sighs happily and does a delighted wiggle dance while eating. "The noodles stay nice and soft and tender, but the outside is so crispy," she says, continuing to eat and dance. "My mom gets down. She don't play," she concludes. End video description.]

DHT Blocker Food, Best Hair Transplant in Delhi
Hair loss is often linked to the hormone DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, which shrinks hair follicles. Incorporating DHT blocker foods into your diet can counteract this effect and support natural hair growth. DHT binds to follicles, causing them to shrink over time and leading to thinner, weaker hair. To combat this, consuming certain foods can help block DHT production. Also, reducing stress levels and avoiding harsh hair treatments can promote healthier hair.
Tumblr media
While blocking DHT can aid hair growth, results vary, and it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional or dermatologist before starting a new regimen. The expert at Dr A’S Clinic suggests that combining dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and holistic approaches, individuals can help block DHT and support their hair’s health and appearance effectively. Best Hair Transplant in Delhi.
Foods That Block DHT and Help in Hair Loss
Here are some of the foods that you should consume in order to reduce your hair loss:
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a natural DHT blocker that supports natural hair growth due to its high lauric acid content. Lauric acid inhibits the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into DHT, thereby reducing the risk of hair loss and fostering healthier hair growth. Coconut oil can be applied topically to the scalp or consumed in food or supplements to harness its benefits effectively.
Beyond its DHT-blocking properties, coconut oil enhances scalp health and reduces inflammation, addressing additional factors contributing to hair loss. This can help your diet, i.e., it not only blocks DHT but also holistically supports hair health, potentially leading to improved hair growth and reduced hair loss over time.
Edamame
Edamame, a type of soybean, is the best DHT-blocker food rich in nutrients like protein, fiber, and vitamins. It contains isoflavones, compounds that inhibit DHT production, a hormone linked to hair loss. A 6-month study involving 58 males showed promising results. Participants consumed soy protein with high isoflavones, soy protein with extracted isoflavones, or milk protein.
Both soy protein variants, regardless of isoflavone content, were more effective than milk protein in reducing DHT levels at 3 and 6 months. While the 6-month reduction in DHT wasn’t statistically significant, it’s still practically significant with potential clinical implications. Incorporating edamame and other soy-based foods into the diet can contribute to blocking DHT and supporting healthier hair growth.
Berries
Blueberries are rich in antioxidants that play a crucial role in blocking DHT, a hormone linked to hair loss, and fostering robust hair growth. They also boast vitamin C, which is vital for collagen synthesis and maintaining resilient hair follicles. The flavonoids present in blueberries have been shown to improve scalp blood circulation, which is conducive to healthier hair. Additionally, proanthocyanidins found in blueberries can expedite the shift from the resting phase (telogen) to the active growth phase (anagen), thus promoting accelerated hair growth.
Consuming blueberries, which are one of the best DHT blocker can contribute significantly to combating hair loss and supporting the development of strong, vibrant hair. Their antioxidant properties shield against DHT, while the vitamins and compounds they contain nourish the scalp and encourage optimal hair follicle function, resulting in improved hair health and growth.
Carrots
Carrots are a valuable addition to your diet for maintaining healthy hair and combating hair loss. They are rich in beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, which plays a crucial role in blocking dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone associated with hair thinning and loss.
Vitamin A, derived from beta-carotene in carrots, helps regulate sebum production in the scalp. Balanced sebum levels contribute to a healthier scalp environment, reducing the risk of hair follicle inflammation and subsequent hair shedding.
Carrots are packed with antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, which protect hair follicles from oxidative stress and damage caused by free radicals. This protection helps maintain the strength and integrity of hair strands, reducing breakage and promoting overall hair health.
Therefore, including carrots, a natural DHT blocker in your diet can thus aid in blocking DHT, regulating scalp sebum, and providing essential antioxidants, all of which contribute to healthier, fuller-looking hair and reduced hair loss.
Turmeric
Turmeric stands out as one of the best DHT blocker, making it a top choice for promoting hair growth and curbing hair loss. This vibrant spice is renowned for its anti-inflammatory properties, which have been found to significantly reduce DHT levels in the body, fostering an environment conducive to healthy hair.
The active compound in turmeric, curcumin, plays a pivotal role in this process by inhibiting the action of the alpha-5 reductase enzyme. This enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone into DHT, a hormone linked to hair thinning and loss. By blocking this conversion, curcumin helps maintain optimal DHT levels, supporting hair follicle health and growth.
Turmeric can be seamlessly incorporated into your diet as a spice in various dishes or taken as a supplement for enhanced benefits. Numerous studies have corroborated the efficacy of curcumin in lowering DHT levels, making turmeric a valuable natural remedy for combating hair loss and promoting thicker, healthier hair.
Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds emerge as a leading DHT blocker due to their rich zinc content, a crucial mineral that plays a pivotal role in inhibiting the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone closely associated with hair loss. Zinc’s ability to interfere with the conversion of testosterone into DHT helps maintain a balanced hormonal environment conducive to healthier hair.
Moreover, aside from their DHT-blocking capabilities, pumpkin seeds are packed with antioxidants and an array of nutrients that actively promote robust hair growth. These nutrients include vitamin E, essential fatty acids, and plant-based proteins, all of which contribute to nourishing the scalp and strengthening hair follicles.
Adding pumpkin seeds to your diet is simple and versatile, as they can be consumed raw, roasted, or incorporated into various dishes like salads or smoothies. Their multifaceted benefits, from blocking DHT production to providing essential nutrients for hair health, make pumpkin seeds a valuable dietary addition for anyone looking to combat hair loss and support optimal hair growth.
Onion
Onions are a natural powerhouse when it comes to combating hair loss due to their high quercetin content. Quercetin, an antioxidant abundant in onions, possesses potent anti-inflammatory and anti-DHT properties that contribute significantly to promoting healthy hair.
Research indicates that quercetin plays a crucial role in blocking the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by inhibiting the alpha-5 reductase enzyme. By impeding this enzymatic process, quercetin helps maintain balanced DHT levels, which is vital for preventing hair follicle miniaturization and subsequent hair thinning.
Furthermore, the antioxidant properties of onions, particularly quercetin, help reduce oxidative stress on the scalp. This reduction in oxidative stress supports overall scalp health, fosters a favorable environment for hair growth, and minimizes damage that could lead to hair loss.
Soybean
Soybeans and their derived products, like soy protein, are recognized for their efficacy as DHT blockers, making them valuable in addressing hair loss concerns. Soy protein contains isoflavones, plant compounds with properties similar to estrogen, which contribute to reducing DHT levels in the body.
Studies have highlighted soy protein’s impact on DHT levels, particularly in individuals at risk of conditions exacerbated by elevated DHT, such as prostate cancer. In one study, men consuming soy protein, whether rich in isoflavones or not, experienced a slight decrease in DHT levels. In contrast, those consuming a milk-based protein isolate showed a minor increase in DHT levels.
The mechanism behind soy’s DHT-blocking ability is attributed to its isoflavones, which modulate hormone levels and inhibit the activity of enzymes involved in DHT production. By reducing DHT levels, soy protein helps maintain a healthier hormonal balance, which can contribute to mitigating hair loss and promoting stronger, thicker hair growth.
Green Tea
Green tea stands out as a powerful, natural DHT blocker, aiding in natural hair growth and combatting hair loss. This beverage contains catechins, compounds that have demonstrated the ability to inhibit the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone closely associated with hair loss.
Regular consumption of green tea can support healthy hair growth by maintaining optimal DHT levels. Catechins in green tea work by interfering with the activity of enzymes involved in DHT production, thereby helping to prevent the negative effects of excess DHT on hair follicles.
Apart from its role as a DHT blocker, green tea offers various health benefits, including a metabolism boost and reducing the risk of certain diseases. To maximize its effectiveness as a DHT blocker, it’s recommended to consume high-quality green tea or opt for green tea supplements if preferred.
Conclusion
Therefore, consuming DHT-blocking foods in your diet may offer a natural and holistic approach to combating hair loss. The nine foods discussed contain nutrients and compounds that can potentially inhibit DHT production or activity, thereby promoting healthier hair growth. However, it’s important to note that individual responses to these foods can vary, and dietary changes alone may not completely reverse hair loss caused by genetic or hormonal factors. Maintaining a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, along with adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and stress management, can contribute to overall hair health and well-being.

FAQ
How do you block DHT naturally?
Natural DHT blocking includes dietary modifications, lifestyle improvements, and in some cases, the use of herbal therapies. Diet is important because some foods include chemicals that can prevent the development of DHT or lessen its effects. Foods high in lycopene, such as tomatoes, or green tea, for example, may have anti-DHT qualities. Furthermore, the ability of herbal medicines like saw palmetto to suppress the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT has drawn interest. Because scalp massages increase blood flow to the hair follicles, they can also help lower DHT levels. Moreover, studies have looked into the potential of essential oils like peppermint and rosemary to prevent DHT when administered directly to the scalp. Another natural remedy often suggested for managing stress is to practise mindfulness or physical activity.
What reduces DHT the most?
The best choice when it comes to drastically lowering DHT levels is medication. The FDA has approved finasteride and dutasteride as drugs for this use. They function by preventing the conversion of testosterone into DHT by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. Clinical research has shown that these drugs can lower DHT levels by as much as 70%, which makes them the first choice for people who want to significantly lower their DHT levels in order to prevent hair loss, especially in cases of male pattern baldness.
Is egg a DHT blocker?
Eggs do not directly block DHT, but they do contain biotin, a B vitamin that is necessary for keeping hair healthy. Eating foods high in biotin, such as eggs, can help general hair health, as biotin deficiency can contribute to hair loss. Nevertheless, there isn’t strong scientific proof that eggs particularly inhibit DHT. Rather, they offer nutrients that are good for the upkeep and growth of hair.
Will reducing DHT regrow hair?
For those suffering from androgenetic alopecia, also referred to as male or female pattern baldness, lowering DHT levels can in fact slow down or stop hair loss. In certain instances, hair regrowth could also result from it, especially in regions where hair follicles are still functioning. However, each person responds differently to DHT reduction, and outcomes might not show up. Before discernible increases in hair growth are seen, it frequently takes several months of constant therapy.
Is Onion a DHT blocker?
Onion extract isn’t typically thought of as a DHT blocker, despite research suggesting it may encourage hair growth. Rather, onion extract may function by increasing blood flow to the scalp, supplying vital nutrients to the hair follicles, and lowering inflammation, all of which may tangentially promote the development of healthy hair. According to some research, 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that turns testosterone into DHT, may be inhibited by onion extract. To verify its efficacy as a DHT blocker, more research is necessary.
Can DHT thicken hair?
In people with androgenetic alopecia, DHT is usually linked to hair thinning and the miniaturisation of hair follicles. DHT, however, can affect hair development differently depending on the body part. For instance, throughout puberty, it is in charge of promoting the growth of body and facial hair. Increased DHT levels in diseases like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) can cause hirsutism, or the excessive growth of hair on the face and body. DHT regulates hair development in various parts of the body even though it may not directly thicken hair on the scalp.
