(Image originally shared on Facebook by the On The Buses Fanclub).
The producers of On The Buses initially approached London Transport for permission to shoot depot scenes at one of their facilities. They declined, worried that it would be bad for their image.
As a result, London Weekend Television negotiated with a depot in East London, which ran services to the Essex coast, hence many of the green buses featured in the series displayed advertising posters for Cliffs Pavilion, Southend.
Some filming took place amongst depot operations. Reg Varney is pictured here with some of the real bus crews.
Stephen Lewis (Blakey) shadowed one of the depot inspectors in preparation for his role. On one occasion, following an altercation with a shop steward, the real inspector uttered, "Ooh, I 'ate 'im. I 'ate im!" As a result, one of the most recognisable catchphrases in British comedy, "I 'ate you, Butler", emerged.
With the success of the television series, London Transport couldn't say yes quick enough when approached about assisting with a feature film, including granting access to the driver training skidpan. Hence the buses in the movie adaptations were red, rather than green as in the TV series. (Continuity was never much of a priority).
On the Buses ran for 74 episodes from 1969-73. There were also three critically derided but enormously profitable feature films made on impossibly small budgets.
In 1990 there were plans for a revival, Back to the Buses, which were sufficiently advanced for the original cast to appear on an episode of Wogan to promote it, and Reg Varney was a guest on This Morning talking about the new series. After all that, the project was shelved prior to the pilot being produced.

A roll of Paisley Positivity wallpaper was bought by a customer today. They chose the large-scale yellow version. The type of wallpaper they chose was Prepasted Removable Smooth. If you're decorating a room in your home with a yellow colour theme, this wallpaper could be an ideal choice. Paisley Positivity wallpaper is available in a large range of attractive colours. The "Paisley Positivity" design has large intertwining paisley symbols and lots of small decorative details. It was designed by Patrick Moriarty in Southend-on-Sea, UK in 2020. Steve Hackett is renowned as an immensely talented and innovative rock musician. He was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic line up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford, who produced several of the band’s most acclaimed albums including "Selling England by the Pound" and "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway".
With Steve's extraordinary versatility in both his electric guitar playing and his composing, he involves influences from many genres, including Jazz, World Music and Blues. He is equally adept in his classical albums that include renditions of pieces by composers from Bach to Satie, his own acoustic guitar compositions that have gained the admiration of many, including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar/orchestra albums such as “A Midsummer Night's Dream”, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic.
His most recent studio album is 2019’s “At the Edge of Light”, which was met with critical acclaim and charted in several countries all around the world. It reached number 28 in the UK Album Chart (number 3 in the Rock chart), number 13 in Germany and 12 in Sweden.

Hip-hop star Nelly has sexual assault case dropped by UK police.
U.K. police are taking no further action over a case against American rapper Nelly, who allegedly sexually assaulted a fan after a December 2017 concert in Essex. (AP Photo/Seivan M. Salim, File) U.K. police are taking no further action over a case against American rapper Nelly, following allegations that he sexually assaulted a fan following a December 2017 concert in Essex. An anonymous British woman accused Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., of sexually assaulting her in his dressing room after a concert performance at Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, BBC News reported. UK prosecutors dropped the case against the rapper after the woman allegedly refused to cooperate. NELLY SETTLES WITH WOMAN OVER SEXUAL ASSAULT LAWSUIT The Essex police launched their investigation in January after interviewing the rapper but will not take any further action on the case. The accuser filed a separate lawsuit in the United States. The anonymous accuser filed a federal lawsuit under the name “Jane Doe” in St. Louis that alleged Nelly masturbated in front of her and forced her to perform oral sex on him after the concert, reported USA Today. The rapper’s lawyer filed a response Thursday, objecting to the plaintiff remaining anonymous. In September, Nelly agreed to settle a different lawsuit filed by an American woman, Monique Greene, who claimed Nelly raped her on his tour bus in suburban Seattle when she was a 22-year-old college student. CLICK HERE FOR THE FOX NEWS APP The rapper countersued, claiming the sexual encounter was consensual and the lawsuit was filed in an effort to defame the rapper. The claims in the case were dropped in a dismissal agreement. The Associated Press contributed to this report. . As found on Youtube Read the full article
