Carey ‘W’Recs Wednesday(。•̀ᴗ-)✧ presents: After Eden by Rickey
(੭ˊ͈ ꒵ˋ͈)੭*⁺˚. * ・ 。゚☆
Excerpt:
The next evening, when Draco still hadn't shown by five-fifteen, Harry Apparated to Wiltshire. He knew that Draco lived in a small cottage that he had built on the Malfoy property. He just didn't know exactly where. Armed with his Auror tracking skills, he set off to find Draco. Having to cast every spell multiple times in order to get it right, it took him almost an hour to find Draco's home.
Harry could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins as he knocked on the front door. After three sets of vigorous knocks, Draco still hadn't answered.
"Come on, Draco. Open the door, please?" Harry called out.
He waited a moment. When nothing happened, he yelled, "I had to Apparate to just outside the Manor and walk here using my wand to point me. Two miles. Please, Draco, let me explain. I didn't mean it." Again Harry waited. He could sense that Draco was just on the other side of the door.
"What I said— I don't feel that way at all. Actually, I feel the opposite. Draco? Open the—"
The door swung open to reveal a stiff and cold looking Draco Malfoy. The man took two steps back and allowed Harry entry and then slammed the door shut behind him.
Feeling bare and exposed, Harry stood in front of the other man and continued his heartfelt plea. "I'm sorry. I didn’t think you were feeling what I was feeling. I didn't even understand what I was feeling. I was being stupid."
"You are stupid." It was said as a statement of fact, not an accusation.
"Can I make it up to you?"
"There's really no point, is there?"
"Of course there's a point."
"The point being?"
"That I like you. That I'm attracted to you and think that, maybe, you're attracted to me."
"I was."
"Oh." Harry noted the use of past tense. "Could you be again?"
"I don't know," Draco said, looking at his fingernails.
"How about dinner? At the snootiest, stuck up place that won't let you in anymore? No limit. Champagne? Caviar?"
"I don't like caviar."
"Really?" Somehow that struck Harry as impossible.
"Foie gras and oysters."
"That's the spirit." Harry smiled. He knew he had him.
"Send an owl to Pierre's. Tell them you want a quiet corner booth for eight o'clock. Tell them it's a special celebration. Tell them— oh never mind, I'll write it all down."
Harry followed Draco to his study, where Draco crafted a letter full of dinner instructions, champagne vintage, and special menu items.
"Here." Draco handed him the letter. "Now sign that all powerful 'Harry Potter' and send it off."
"Wow, that's a lot," said Harry as he looked over the list.
"You have a lot of stupid to make up for. Now go. You can use my Floo. I'll meet you at your flat at seven forty-five."
Acting on impulse, Harry reached for Draco's hand and pulled it to his lips. He gave it a gentle kiss and then held on to it as he said, "Until then."
The stunned look on Draco's face was worth the overtly saccharin romantic gesture.

Chapters: 2/2 Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter Characters: Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Romance, Injury, Disability, Angst and Humor Summary:
Life threatening injuries are an occupational hazard even for a seasoned Auror, but Harry Potter never considered the possibility of life altering injury. And why is it that Draco Malfoy has to be the one to help him?
Excerpt:
The quill fell from Harry’s loose hold and he kicked the table leg in frustration. Malfoy studied him for a moment and then pulled out the Boomerang Ball from the box.
“Hold this.” Malfoy held the ball out to Harry, who took it with his left hand.
“Put it in your right hand,” instructed Malfoy.
Harry gently placed the ball on top of his right palm.
“Squeeze it.”
Nothing.
“You need to level with me, Potter. You’re not doing yourself any favors.”
“Shut up.”
“Put your hand on the table.” When Harry didn’t move, Draco yelled, “Do it!”
Harry let the ball roll out of his hand and rested it atop the table.
“Palm up.”
Harry complied.
“Close your eyes.”
Untrusting, Harry scowled at Malfoy.
“Potter, cooperate.”
Harry closed his eyes and waited.
“Tell me when you can feel something.” Malfoy touched the middle of Potter’s palm with his finger, but Harry didn’t react. Malfoy pressed down harder. “Open your eyes,” he said softly.
Harry opened his eyes and looked at Malfoy’s index finger pressing firmly into the middle of his palm.
“You’ve been lying,” said Malfoy.
Harry shrugged.
“You can’t feel a fucking thing!”
“Fuck off.”
“Why the fuck are you telling everyone that you’re starting to get feeling back?”
“I didn’t.”
“That’s not what your Healer pal, Mrs. Longbottom, said.”
“Stay out of this.”
“Gladly, only you’ve hired me to work with you.” Malfoy took a deep breath, calmed down, and then said, “Maybe you should just concentrate on your left hand.”
“I’m an Auror. I need to be able to use my wand hand.”
“I’ve got news for you, Potter. Your right hand is no longer your wand hand.”
“Fuck off.”

any recs for jealous harry? especially before they’re in a relationship. i think i’ve read most of them. but just in case i’d love to see if you have any!
thanks :)
Hi anon! I’ve seen more and more jealous Harry recently, good food 🤌🏼 here’s my reclist with jealous Harry and some additional recs for early jealousy before they get together. Enjoy!
The Real Thing by @skeptiquewrites (M, 5k)
Harry only means to cheer Draco up after a terrible breakup. He doesn't mean to fall in love.
Two of Us by @sorrybutblog (E, 5.5k)
The gang goes to a gay bar. Or: five times Harry accidentally pretended to be Draco’s boyfriend and one time Draco told him to put out or shut up.
Deadheading the Odd Dahlia by @peachpety (E, 8.7k)
Harry is content to spend his days at Draco’s flower stall at the farmers market, burying his true feelings in artisanal coffee and rose bouquets. When forced to find new lodgings, he accepts Draco’s offer to live in a cottage at Malfoy Manor, and his long-hidden crush blossoms out of control. Turns out, proximity makes the heart grow fonder.
Let Me Roll It by @lagerloutfic (E, 9.5k)
The thing about Harry was, he hated most people. And there was no one he hated more than Draco’s boyfriend Justin - certified knob and all round wanker. So when he finds out Justin is just as selfish inside the bedroom as he is outside it, Harry can’t help himself.
Peep Show by @kbrick (E, 10k)
To everyone’s surprise, Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy have become maybe-possibly-sort-of friends. When Harry moves into the building next to Draco's, they become neighbors, too. Actually, Harry can see directly into Draco's flat from his window. And as it turns out, Draco gets up to some interesting things at night.
Take These Lies by @pennygalleon (E, 20k)
There’s a portrait of his godfather in Draco Malfoy’s potions shop and Harry needs to know why. But that’s not why he keeps coming back.
We Might Be Too Old for a Bildungsroman by @wellhalesbells (T, 21k)
Harry finds something he’s been looking for since the war’s end. Admittedly, the packaging’s a bit odder than he expected.
I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor by birdsofshore (E, 28k)
Harry felt lit up from inside as soon as he entered the bar. There were blokes dancing together, their bodies close to one another, not keeping a wary distance as Harry was always careful to do when he was near another man. God, he wanted this – wanted it so much he could taste it, a metallic tang of heat and desire. He suspected nothing would ever be the same again – especially when he saw who else was in the room.
Around You Moves by ignatiustrout (M, 29k)
Harry knew Draco was gay when he invited him to move in. He’s never had a problem with this. So why does he feel so weird about Draco bringing men home all of a sudden?
LA, Who Am I To Love You? by @epitomereally (E, 42k)
Harry’s summer in LA is not going as expected. Pansy Parkinson keeps inviting him to parties in the Hollywood Hills and harassing him to finally go to the physical therapist, Blaise Zabini keeps slipping new strains of his company’s magical weed into Harry’s pockets in hopes of an endorsement, and Draco Malfoy keeps having sex with everyone but Harry.
Modern Love by @tackytigerfic (E, 61k)
Harry Potter, of all people, knows that life isn’t always fair. And no one gets to be happy all of the time. But surely there’s something more—something better—than a rubbish Ministry job, and a lonely old house, and that feeling that everyone out there is doing a better job of living than Harry is.
Can't Sit Still by wilteddaisy (E, 193k)
Five years after the war, Harry finds himself drawn to Draco Malfoy by memories that aren't his own.

i read this drarry fic literal years ago but i can’t remember the name or find it anywhere. i figured i’d describe what i remember on here and maybe someone will recognize what i’m talking about lmao.
so basically harry was an auror and through some events i can’t remember he got hurt and had to have one of his legs amputated. i think draco was his physical therapist or a nurse (?) of some sort, and they ended up falling in love cause duh. the only other thing i remember other than the general plot is that it was hella angsty cause harry struggled with being disabled. and he had a golden snitch tattoo.

My opinion on Fictional Incest
Incest is a relationship with any people related by blood, (parent/child, cousin/cousin, sibling/sibling) and people ship fictional characters in this position. Such as, Lucifer x Draco from Harry Potter, Charlie x Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel and many others. In real life, it’s messed up.
Science has proved that if 2 family members have a baby due to their relationship, the genes will mess up, having an unusual result. People do point out if the incest has consent from both sides, it’s fine. Yet, it’s still a big hush topic and serious one, as the people share the same blood in their genes. It’s socially unacceptable as there’s 9 billion people in the world, yet someone chooses a blood relative to have a a romantic/sexual relationship and (might) share body fluids.
Incest can also be a form of abuse. When family members prey on other family members, more likely younger ones. Many people that have been SA’ed have been assaulted by one of their own family members, making the situation complicated and difficult to get Justice for the crimes. It’s a serious topic with mention of abuse of all sorts, assault and crime, as many people have been forced to have incest.
Yet, fictional characters are different right? Many people have different opinions. People say characters have chemistry and the writers of the characters even gave the characters a romantic moment. People get confused about the lines of Romantic and Platonic. And since many people might be confused on the lines, they might think a daughter and father bonding moment have sexual tension when the father acts like a parent, (saving the daughter from danger). This includes any pairing of family members. Or people completely know when the lines are drawn, but uses the scene and twist it into their favour, changing the truth, shoving their opinion into people’s faces and saying it’s the truth, when it’s not.
Some people say it’s boredom, saying it’s the only way so they won’t inflict harm on others or themselves. This is where people use self harm/mental and physical harm on others as an excuse, knowing full well so many people suffer from those problems. If a silly fictional pair where a daughter and father simply fuck, is the only thing saving you from the urges to harm, that person is mentally unstable. I would suggest therapy and discussing these thoughts to your therapist in full detail. The whole situation, no leaving stuff out or sugar coating it so you look like a saint.
People might say to mind your own business and that is a valid reason. Yet for example, so many other people can speak up about anyone’s opinions but not yours? You can speak up about your own opinions but the moment we question yours, we are the shitty people here.
Conclusion, incest is incest. No matter if it includes fictional characters or people in real life. The idea of family members fucking each other and sharing body fluids is socially inappropriate to talk in person, so why say it online where the entire world can see it. If so many people disagree with you, maybe you might be the one in the wrong. Incest is serious as so many people have been through SA in the form of their own family members sexually/romantically doing things to them without consent.
If your mad at people saying the truth about your kinky thoughts, then why say it online. Of course you have free speech, but we all also have that right. If you can’t handle the backlash, don’t say it in the first place and stop throwing excuses in our faces against the truth. Ask your family members about incest. How would they act? Probably what we’re saying right now. If you want to see family members to fuck each other, do it in real life and face the consequences. If you wouldn’t do it in real life, why do it online.
Prove me wrong or not. Argue your faces off. Throw little fits that we’re doing right now. Keep feeding the fire. Show me real proof that it’s socially acceptable to fuck and love your family members romantically.

Day 195.6: Hobbies (Part 6)
It's been a minute since I worked on this one. Feel free to start here if you'd like.
Harry paced around his living room for what had to be the hundredth time by this point. He hadn't been able to stop pacing since he'd left Draco's office, wondering what the other man thought, wondering if he was going to come to see him. Wondering if this latest revelation was too much.
Wondering if Draco could see now that Harry was too much.
The knock on the door took him by surprise and he turned and stared at it uncertainly for a moment. Admittedly, he hadn't actually expected the other man to come.
Another knock and Harry stepped over to the door and opened it to find Draco standing on the other side. "Hi," he murmured.
"I need you to start that again," Draco said, as he pushed past Harry into the living room and collapsed on his sofa. "Rewind to the bit about you being a horocrux."
"Can I say a different thing first?" he asked, nerves sparking in his palms and the tips of his fingers.
The other man looked over at him and raised an eyebrow, "Of course."
"I don't actually want you to be my healer," he said, words all coming out in a rush. "I want to be better because I like you. Like a lot," he said and he could feel the heat rushing under his skin at the confession. "I really like you," he said again because he couldn't quite help himself. "I want to be safe for you."
Draco blinked at him and his breath rushed out in a long sigh. "Harry," he whispered.
"I thought I was okay if I never got to touch anyone again, you know? It was enough for me," he continued, trying to get the words out before he lost his nerve, "to not be a danger to others. Too many people died because of me, you know?"
(Read more below the cut)
"That wasn't your fault," Draco inserted quickly.
He nodded, "I know that," he said. "I know that now," he clarified. "Therapy really helped me to sort through my guilt and shame about things that weren't my fault but still happened because of me. There were a lot of deaths and injuries," he said, pausing to take a slow breath, "They weren't my fault, but people died because I wasn't ready to defeat him yet. I was a child," he added, "and it wasn't my fault but I wish I could have changed it."
Draco nodded, "You've done a lot of really good work."
"Then why am I still shocking people?" he asked.
"I have some theories about that, actually," Draco said, eyes bright, "but since I am not your healer, could I treat this like a conversation and say a few other things first?"
Harry folded himself onto the other end of the sofa, facing Draco as he nodded.
"I really like you too."
He couldn't stop the grin that spread across his face.
"A lot. And I don't think you need me to be your therapist," Draco said. "I'm not saying that you shouldn't go to therapy," he continued, "I think everyone should go to therapy. I go to therapy," he added, "it's really helpful for me."
Harry felt his body relaxing, magic settling under his skin. Draco didn't think he was crazy.
"But I don't think that you need me to be a therapist for you," he said steadily. "You don't need what I specialize in because that's not what your body is doing."
He tilted his head, "What do you mean?"
Draco hummed, "Your core has actual, physical damage done to it. Your magic isn't spiking out of a nervous system response most of the time. An instance like today being the exception. And I might argue that even with it being really triggering, if your core didn't have gaping holes in the shell, you wouldn't have lost control of your magic."
Harry hummed, he'd like to believe that, he really would, but it was hard to imagine that he was right about that. "I was really triggered by the people following me."
"Right," he said. "And that would make anyone nervous. That was a lot."
He swallowed and looked down at his lap, not quite sure how to accept Draco's easy acceptance of his panic attack earlier.
"That was really difficult," he repeated, "You intentionally put yourself in a very triggering environment, your response was completely understandable."
Harry swallowed around the tears that were threatening. He'd cried in front of Draco before but this felt different.
"Harry," he said softly, and he looked up to meet Draco's eyes. "I don't want you to feel like you have to do that for me."
"Sorry?"
"It's okay for you to have boundaries," he said softly. "I want you to have boundaries. I want to help you have boundaries that keep you safe and healthy."
He blinked, throat too tight around the tears there.
"I'm sorry I made that the only way for you to reach me." He took a deep breath before squaring his shoulders and giving himself a little nod, "The truth is that you did way more to let me in than I did to let you in."
His brows furrowed, "What-"
"It wasn't until the last time I saw you that it occurred to me that I'd stopped really trying to 'cure you'," he said with self-deprecating air quotes, "and was just enjoying being your friend. I'd been doing it for a while unconsciously, but it scared me to be just actively trying to build a relationship with you."
He took a slow breath, waiting, giving Draco the space he needed to be able to say the things he needed to say.
"Because it felt ridiculous, you know?" he asked. But before Harry had the chance to feel hurt, Draco was continuing. "It didn't make sense to me that you would want to be spending time with me if I couldn't give you anything other than my company."
"Draco, what-"
"I went to see my own therapist today," he said. "Because this is me," he confessed. "This is the thing I struggle the most with."
"Sorry," he said, shaking his head, "I want to understand. Please help me understand what you're trying to say," he said as earnestly as he could. "What do you struggle with the most?"
Draco took a deep breath, "The idea that someone could love me for who I am and not for what I can give them."
"Draco," he breathed, heart feeling like it had burst inside of him, hot brackish lava spilling out and burning up his insides.
The other man spread his hands like he was putting himself on display.
"I want you," he said. "Godric, I want you so much."
"Harry-"
"I love spending time with you," he continued, unable to stop himself now that he knew what Draco needed to hear. "I love all of the time we've spent together, I've loved getting to know you. I have treasured every little piece of you that you've given me in our conversations. You-" he shook his head, "You're amazing. You amaze me. I want you all of the time."
"Harry," he breathed, eyes full of tears, and Harry ached with the desire to hold him.
"I want to be able to touch you," he confessed, the next best thing to pulling Draco into his arms and holding him until the aches inside of both of them subsided. "I want to hold you so badly."
"Your magic isn't going to hurt me, Harry."
He huffed a laugh, "You keep saying that."
"Because I mean it," he insisted.
"Right, but the healers I saw before I left-"
"Had a fundamental misunderstanding of magical cores, magic in general, and trauma," he inserted smoothly.
He sighed, rubbing his forehead, "tell me more."
Draco straightened, "Your magic isn't going to hurt me because you don't want to hurt me."
"It can't be that simple."
The other man gave him a little smile, "It is and it isn't. I'd be willing to bet that your accidental magic is the stuff of legends."
He huffed, "There have been a few memorable instances."
Draco quirked a grin at him, "Could you repeat what you'd said about being a horocrux?"
"When I was an infant, when Voldemort tried to kill me, he left part of his soul behind. We had a weird connection throughout my childhood. I could feel his magic, feel his imprint inside of me before I understood why. It went both ways, both limiting and enhancing my magic, I think."
"Can you say more about that?" Draco asked.
He laughed, "Now you really sound like my therapist."
"I don't mean to," he said with a frown.
"It's okay," he said. "I want you to know me," he added, then thought about those words for a moment, "Yeah. That's true," he laughed, "I want you to know me."
Draco smiled at him, "I want to know you."
He grinned dopily at Draco for a long moment because he enjoyed the sound of that sentence so much. "Right," he said, shaking his head. "So. Basically, the piece of Voldemort's soul inside of me magnified emotions like fear and anger in particular. My biggest incidences of accidental magic happened from those emotions. Which makes sense when you think about the way a horocrux does that too."
"I think you probably understand the effects of horocruxes better than anyone. There's not a lot of modern understanding of them," Draco said.
"Fair," he conceded. "Well, maybe you can trust me when I tell you that they do that? Like, have you watched Lord of the Rings?"
"I have no idea what that is."
Harry groaned and made it part of the mental list he kept for future movie nights. "Never mind. We'll watch it another time. My point is that I could feel him in my anger and fear in ways I couldn't in other parts of my magic. It makes sense to me that he was magnifying and fortifying those parts of my core. And it makes sense that when he was taken out he left holes that fear and anger would leak out of."
"Can I challenge you on that?" Draco asked, "Just a little?"
He nodded, "Sure."
"I don't think your core is only seeping those things. I think your core is seeping magic that relates to any emotion but your anxiety and fear of hurting people hijacks it."
"What do you mean?"
Draco hummed and seemed to be switching tactics, "What is safe magic for you to perform?"
"Cleaning," he replied immediately. Cleaning had been one of the first things he started allowing his magic to do again.
"Great," he said, "So cleaning never feels like it's going to hurt someone?"
"How could it?"
He nodded, "Right. But," he continued, "if you're feeling something like anger, that could be dangerous for the people around you."
"That seems logical," Harry said, certain that this was what he'd just told Draco. It made sense that his anger spewing out in the form of magic would be dangerous.
"Imagine a time when you were sad, did you feel like it was dangerous for the people around you?"
He shrugged, "It could have been," he said, remembering how his sadness had manifested as anger in his lifetime. And it was fair and true to say that he didn't like to feel too sad around other people; he didn't want to burden them with his grief too often.
Draco gave him a little grin, "I'm setting you up," he informed him.
Harry rolled his eyes, "Thanks for the warning."
"Imagine the last time you were feeling something akin to love for someone. What happened then?"
His mind was immediately drawn back to that night when they'd kissed on this very sofa but he pulled back hard on the reins, that was way too much of an admission, way too fast.
"Like with Ron and Hermione," Draco suggested. "Or perhaps Teddy?"
That was easier. "Alright."
"How did you want to respond? Did you want to touch them? Give them a hug or a pat on the back?"
"Sure, I wanted that," he said because it was true.
"Did you do it?"
He shook his head, "No. Because touching them could hurt them."
"Ready?" he asked, looking at Harry like he was about to drop a bomb on him.
"I would have said 'yes' but I don't really like the tone of your voice," he replied.
Draco hummed. "I could be wrong about this, but I don't think I am."
"Oh good."
He shook his head and took a deep breath, "Do you think it's fair to say that you are afraid that loving people could hurt them too?"
And his gut reaction was to say no. He wanted to simply deny it. Love had saved him; many times over. But his love hadn't saved others; his loving people and them loving him in return had put them in harm's way a lot of times. "I meant it when I said that I didn't believe it was my fault that people died."
Draco nodded, giving him space to work through his thoughts.
"I don't think that I caused their deaths," he said, testing it out to see how the words felt. "But," he said softly and Draco's head tilted in sympathy, "I do feel like maybe if I hadn't loved them and they hadn't loved me that they might not have died." He felt a tear spill down his cheek. "I'm not responsible for their deaths," he repeated, a mantra he'd carried with him for years at this point. "But I do think that if it weren't for love, they would still be here today."
"Yeah," Draco whispered softly, warm and full of understanding. "It feels like what is coming out is fear or anger, but what's coming out is all of your emotions until your anxiety takes over."
"That's," he blew out a breath. "That's a lot."
"Yes," he conceded. "You aren't going to hurt me, Harry," he repeated.
"How do you know?" he asked again, because that's what this seemed to prove, really. Love triggered anxiety which made him zap people.
"Because you don't want to," he said again. "Your magic has never hurt me. Your magic has tried to keep me safe, your magic has tried to tell me you feel safe, your magic has tried to make me feel really-" he broke off and bit his lip.
"Really?"
"Good," he breathed. "Your magic really wanted me to feel good," he finished.
"Yeah?" he asked, throat going a little dry.
Draco's eyes met his and Harry felt like he was on fire, "Yes," he whispered, licking his bottom lip.
"Draco-"
"Kiss me," he murmured.
"Draco-"
"Harry," he said, voice soft and a little desperate. "Please."
He swallowed, "I have an idea."
Draco nodded, "Yes."
Harry laughed, his magic bubbling under his skin, "You don't even know what I was going to say."
"I don't care," he replied. "I'll do anything if it means you'll kiss me again."
"Merlin," he sighed, closing his eyes and trying to make his brain work correctly. "I really like you."
"I really like you too," Draco replied and at the sound of how much closer his voice was Harry opened his eyes to find Draco leaning closer, mere inches from him.
"I don't trust myself," he said. "I want to kiss you but I don't want to touch you."
"Okay," Draco replied, eyebrows furrowing as he tried to work out a solution.
He blew out a breath, "I don't mean this to sound kinky-"
Draco's eyes sparked as they darted from Harry's lips to meet his eyes, clear and eager. "I'm not opposed."
Harry huffed a laugh again, "You still don't know what I was going to say."
"It doesn't matter."
"I want you to tie me up," he finally managed, blocking out all of the ideas flooding his brain. "Then you set the pace, you have the control. If it's too much or it hurts you, you can just stop."
Draco's fingertips brushed feather light over Harry's cheek and Harry's eyelids fluttered shut, his magic rushing under his skin, flooding his body and his senses. "I'm not afraid of you," Draco murmured and Harry clenched his fists at his sides to resist the urge to grab him. "But if that is what it takes to make you feel safe, I will gladly do it."
All of the heat from Draco's body disappeared suddenly and Harry's eyes snapped open to find that he was standing in front of him.
"Show me the way to your bedroom," he said. "And you can read into that as much or as little as you like."

ABOUT
As a boy there was nothing Scorpius wanted more than to grow up to be just like his father. Astoria and Draco sheltered their son from the realities of their past, and Scorpius knew very little of his parents involvement during the second Wizarding War. It wasn’t until he arrived at Hogwarts when he became the subject to his peers bullying and torments that he learned of the crimes his father committed.
The sorting hat desperately wanted to sort Scorpius into Ravenclaw, but all Scorpius wanted was to be in Slytherin like his parents and the hat gave in. This would be a decision that Scorpius would regret for the rest of his time at Hogwarts. Not long after arriving at Hogwarts he become disillusioned by his parents, feeling hurt and betrayed that they would hide their past from him and throwing him to the wolves.
Scorpius was technically a genius and his IQ was off the charts, and he was leaps and bounds beyond the other students in his class. He easily excelled in his classes, leaving Scorpius bored and wanting more from his classes. His boredom manifested in aggression and despite being the smartest he quickly became Hogwart’s ‘problem student’. He would starts fights – magical, verbal and physical –, talk back to his teachers, blow off class, and became a regular in detention. Despite his immense intelligence he barely graduated from Hogwarts.
After graduation all Scorpius wanted to expose the truth, so he became an investigator reporter for the Daily Prophet. He is known for writing brutally honest exposés, not caring who he pisses off or what bridges he burns in the process. He will do anything to get the scoop, and he stops at nothing to expose the dirty underbelly of the wizarding world.
Scorpius has never been a particularly social person, and would always prefer to stay home and work or walk his dogs than go out and socialize. He has always struggled making close friendships, what with his ingrained distrust for people and raging anger issues. He’s currently working with a therapist to get his temper under control.

This seems like fun! Thanks for the tag, @swissmissing!
1. AO3 handle: SilentAuror
2. Ships I write: Johnlock. Oh, and maybe a touch of Freebatch. In the past I wrote a crapton of Harry/Draco and a few other scattered ships hither and thither, but these days it’s pretty much pure Johnlock over here.
3. Ships I read: I don’t read much fanfic, but if I do, it’s definitely Johnlock!
4. When I started writing: I don’t remember my first piece of fiction ever, but it was definitely sometime in childhood! My first fanfic was posted in 2002, I believe!
5. First fic I wrote: In this fandom? Resurrection.
6. Favorite fic I wrote: I really can’t say!
7. Hardest fic I wrote: Again, I really can’t say. Different stories have been hard for different reasons. Against the Rest of the World comes to mind, just for sheer length and complexity & detail of plot, but Scars was very different to write for the emotional and physical abuse it contains. Some of the angst-heavy stories I’ve written have practically given me ulcers. Sometimes I make the cases so complicated that I have to keep a whole separate file just on case notes (witness The Bells of King’s College, which features not just six cold cases, but they all had to be related to: a) the murderer (obviously), b) each other, and c) a potential seventh victim, and d) Mary!). Bridging the Ravine features something like 21 named OCs, about 8 of whom have fairly major parts. And The Final Proof was hard as hell to write because it made me cry throughout, lol. Along with basically 98% of the people who have read it, which was sort of the point, but there you go. :P (See warnings!!!!!)
8. Most research-intensive fic I wrote: That has to be a toss-up between Against the Rest of the World for the location research specifically, and Scars, for which I did extensive research (including interviewing three separate therapists who specialize in female->male abuse and gaslighting).
9. Fic that is most dear to me: This is like asking me to pick a favourite among my children! Of which I now have 84 in this fandom alone! Really can’t say!
10. Favourite trope to write: I mostly avoid actively writing tropes, though I’ve unapologetically used fake-couple-for-a-case twice now (once where it goes quite well for them (Bridging the Ravine) and once where it goes quite badly for them (The Bells of King’s College)), and smaller tropes like sexual coaching (Isosceles), bed-sharing (numerous), and then apparently I’ve used some accidentally, such as amnesia (The Wisteria Tree). Lol.
11. Something I wouldn’t write: An unhappy or non-Johnlock ending, a version of Mary that doesn’t line up with her actual canon behaviour, fluffy familial sitcom that’s wholly out of character (which isn’t to say that parentlock can’t be IC, but it’s a stretch to make it fit with these two particular men, IMO).
12. Favourite scene I ever wrote: I’ve just written too many to choose only one. :/ Sorry, I keep saying this!
13. Where I get my inspiration: From Moftiss’ resolute determination to prevent these two from having an honest, direct, and complete conversation about their relationship, their history, and their feelings. I WILL make them talk, damn it! And then kiss. Like a lot. :)
14. Hardest scene I ever wrote: There’s a rape scene in chapter 3 of Scars. I avoided writing it for days. Then, once I finished it, I remember literally just closing my laptop, standing up, putting on my shoes, and walking out of my apartment to clear my head.
15. Favourite characterisation I wrote: Oooh. Okay, I’m giving this one to Sherlock in Against the Rest of the World, specifically because it’s told in first person, which means that I spent four solid months living inside this version of his head, and I found it very difficult to not be in it once the story came to its eventual finish!
In this fandom, I’ve now written in the POVs of 12 different characters (not counting the “characters” of Ben and Martin in my four Freebatch fics), and I’ve loved writing every single one of them, even if I don’t necessarily love the character themselves! The breakdown goes like this, though for the last two, it’s only single chapters/parts of stories, never a full stand-alone story: Sherlock (36 times, including both novels), John (37 times), Mycroft (3 times), Lestrade (3 times), Mary (3 times), Molly (twice), Rose (Rosie at age 19, once), Janine (once), Ella (once), Vee (Mummy) Holmes (once), Mrs Hudson (once), and Sally Donovan (once).
My current project is one of my rare mixed-POV stories, heavily John-POV, but with contribution scenes from Sherlock, Ella, and Molly.
16. Sequel I would write, if I had the chance: I’m actually somewhat planning, pending my muses’ inspiration and general whims, a sequel to Isosceles, where Sherlock and John visit Corey Graham in LA. :)
17. Story I want to write, but I don’t think people would enjoy reading: It’s so masochistic, but I never let that stop me! :P I did suppress my urge to write my first Freebatch fic (The A.G.R.A Complex) for about eight months before finally giving in. I fully expected to be shot for writing Scars, and I’m somewhat expecting people to hate my current project, but if the muses demand it, then I write it. What can you do. :P
18. A line from a WIP: I never do lines. It’ll have to be a snippet, lol. Not to channel Culverton Smith or anything...
Ella thinks of the long story Sherlock told her one stormy afternoon only a few weeks ago, during one of the appointments she cannot, by dint of professional vow, acknowledge to John that are happening, and of the fact that Sherlock admitted that he’s never yet found a way to casually bring up the snipers in conversation with John, his hesitancy to rock the boat, the surface stability they’ve seemingly found in the wake of the events with Sherlock’s unbalanced sister. She sighs inwardly, but keeps her expression neutral. “You’re still angry about that,” she says. It isn’t a question; after all, she knows John rather well by this point.
John frowns, but nods, still looking down.
“And how has that anger come out?” Ella asks, conscious to keep her tone even.
John’s mouth opens, his breath drawing in sharply and stopping in his chest.
19. A recent comment on a story that made me smile: That someone commented at all makes me smile! Unless it’s overt hate, I guess. :P
20. A discontinued work I would love to finish: I have never, in my 2.1+ million words of Sherlock fiction, or 1.5 words of HP fiction, not finished a story that I started.
21. Fic writers I admire: Honestly, for these last two, I just don’t read enough to be able to comment well on this! I also know that if I list anyone, I’ll leave out someone who really, really should be mentioned. I’ll just say this: anyone who is actively working at the craft of writing and putting themselves out there deserves all the praise and admiration in the world. Same goes for artists! You’re putting a naked little piece of your soul out there for the world to see, criticize, hopefully (but not necessarily) love, and that is SO brave! So the truest answer here is: all of you!
22. A story I recommend: Same answer as above! I would recommend @swissmissficrecs for recs!
Tagging: anyone who reads this post and writes. You’re tagged. :)

Browsing past Salt & Pepper Fest prompts.
(Keep in mind: Some users have submitted the same prompt across more than one year, and these are not necessarily the only prompts that are interesting. Most here have ‘Any’ for the suggested pairing, but other - equally intriguing - prompts for the fest would involve alterations if I didn’t want to stick to the suggested characters or pairings.)
From 2021 - gracerene
Prompt: You're never too old to start a new career. Suggested Characters/Pairings: Any Theme/Tone: hopeful, determined Additional Info: Character realising that their career/profession isn't what they actually want to do and deciding to start over with something their passionate about. Maybe going back to school, becoming a trainee/apprentice as an older person, and what that experience is like.
From 2021 - pauraque
Prompt: They've always been kinky in the bedroom, and now that the kids have left home, they're finally able to pursue a 24/7 D/s relationship. Suggested Characters/Pairings: Any (doesn't have to be characters who canonically have kids) Theme/Tone: Fun & loving, lots of focus on the characters' emotional satisfaction in their dominant or submissive roles, and how it strengthens their relationship. Additional Info: Whatever flavor of D/s you like would be fine here, but if you want suggestions... Service submission? Daddy/Mummy kink? Petplay?
From 2021 - pauraque
Prompt: People always assumed he/she would eventually settle down with someone, but as he/she gets older, he/she only grows more confident in the choice to stay single. And it's awesome. Suggested Characters/Pairings: Any would work. Luna? Minerva? Draco? Theme/Tone: Learning to feel okay about being yourself, reaching the age where you no longer care about other people's judgements. Additional Info: Could be an asexual character, but equally well could be someone who just prefers not to be in a relationship!
From 2021 - kelly_chambliss
Prompt: Retired. Now what? Suggested Characters/Pairings: Pomona Sprout, Filius Flitwick, Minerva McGonagall, Rolanda Hooch. . .any Hogwarts teacher. Theme/Tone: Could be bittersweet, humorous, dramatic. Anything but crack.
From 2020 - ayebydan
Prompt: Sirius is fifty now and has seen Harry through the war, into marriage, and kids. The lad has been to a therapist, got his head sorted and now happily holds down a day job. Sirius has done his duties to James and Lily and Harry and happily allows snot nosed kids to call him grandpa, but now it is time for him. Suggested Characters/Pairings: Sirius/Narcissa, Sirius/Severus, Sirius/Andy, Sirius/any Theme/Tone: A look at how the war really beat them all down and getting over it was not an easy thing. Additional Info: Jaded but still hopeful Sirius. Unhelpful grandchildren lols are a bonus
From 2020 - kiertorata
Prompt: virgin character in their 50s starring in a wholesome love story Suggested Characters/Pairings: any Theme/Tone: healing, wholesome, fun Additional Info: [Not filled in.]
From 2020 - sdk
Prompt: “I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.” - Madeline Miller Suggested Characters/Pairings: Any slash pairing Theme/Tone: Whatever the quote inspires!
From 2020 - pauraque
Prompt: Someone comes out as trans or nonbinary later in life. Suggested Characters/Pairings: Any Theme/Tone: Realistic struggles, but with a happy or hopeful ending. Additional Info: You could do some worldbuilding with this around how magic could be used for transition (maybe it used to be forbidden and now attitudes are changing?) but physical transition doesn't have to be the focus or included at all.
From 2019 - writcraft
Prompt: After years of feeling uncomfortable in their own skin, in a changing world they can finally live as their true selves. Suggested Characters/Pairings: Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank, Millicent Bulstrode, Teddy Lupin, Nymphadora Tonks. If you have another idea though, please go for it. Open to any pairings but also happy with non-ship fic. Theme/Tone: Exploration of coming out as trans later in life. Additional Info: Nope!
From 2019 - gingertodgers
Prompt: childless by choice Suggested Characters/Pairings: any Theme/Tone: slice of life Additional Info: A couple talks about their decision not to have children. Do they regret it, or are they happy with how things worked out? If it's a couple who had kids in canon, I'd love to see how that might have changed things for them.
From 2017 - writcraft
Prompt: “You may forget but let me tell you this: someone in some future time will think of us” (Sappho) - Character A finds letters revealing a same-sex love affair between people in their past. It makes them view Character B in a whole new light. Suggested Characters/Pairings: Any slash or femmeslash. Theme/Tone: Poignant but hopeful, Romantic, Exploring sexuality later in life Additional Info: None
From 2017 - Technically, lightofdaye’s prompt is for the Golden Trio, but I wanted to keep track of University of the Third Age (U3A).
From 2015 - blithelybonny
Prompt: A & B have been partners for decades when gay marriage is legalized in wizarding Britain. Now they have to decide whether or not they want that piece of paper. Suggested Characters/Pairings: I'd love to see a femslash and/or rare pairing, but really any. Theme/Tone: Lived-in, if that makes any sense. Additional Info: Not a fan of scat/vomit-play or character bashing.

hi! thanks for your blog. do you have any recs for realistic mental health fics? thanks!
Hi anon! I can share some fics that resonated with me but please keep in mind that I’m no expert on the topic and cannot attest nor validate these portrayals in a professional capacity. I hope they work for you!
Touched by @writcraft (T, 7k)
On the insistence of his parents, Draco begins to see a therapist to discuss his difficulties with physical intimacy. When he changes his appointment time, Draco discovers he’s not the only one seeking assistance as a result of events which occurred during the war and he finds comfort in the most unexpected of places.
The Body Keeps Score by amorsindolor (E, 13k)
Draco cries during sex. A story about touch, intimacy, and the healing we find through mutual trust and love.
Edificabo by @doubleappled (E, 18k)
Numb and exhausted after the war, Harry returns to the only real home he’s ever known. Hogwarts needs help, too.
All That Remains by lordhellebore (M, 21k)
In a Great Britain destroyed by war and plagued by magical epidemics, those who are left behind struggle to survive and find meaning. While Draco battles his guilt by becoming a social worker, Harry is headed down a path of self-destruction.
Come Hell or High Water, anon (M, 22k)
In his bed under Mungo's floating candles, Harry sips tea, watches reality TV, and does his best not to pay any mind to the curse which has invaded his body.

Draco’s world gains a new component just when he thought he’d sorted everything out.
Holly and Hawthorn, Thistle and Thyme by bryoneybrynn (E, 31k)
After the war, Harry can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong with him and he has a terrible feeling he knows what that “something” might be. He has a terrible feeling Malfoy might know, too.
(Un)wanted by @aibidil (E, 36k)
Ginny's pregnant, then she's not and Harry's single. Harry, again with no family, doesn't know what to do with this turn of events, or how to find a new life—post-war, post-Ginny, post-abortion—in which he belongs.
He Who Must Not Be Normal by lettered (E, 41k)
Potter has fame and fortune and posh clothes and all he wants is a simple life. Draco has a flat and a cat and a steady job and all he wants is a complicated life.
A Piercing Comfort by talithan (T, 44k)
When Harry Potter hits the lowest point of his life so far, it is not his friends who keep him honest. With Draco Malfoy's patience and guidance, Harry learns to stand on his own. The thing is, after the fact—he's no longer sure he wants to.
The Four Doors by @fluxweeed (E, 49k)
It’s been four months since Harry lost his memory. Four months of dead ends and no answers. With time running out until his memories are gone for good, Harry agrees to a course of Legilimency therapy with a renowned specialist: Mind Healer Draco Malfoy.
Here's The Pencil, Make It Work by ignatiustrout (M, 49k)
Harry thinks "Why is Malfoy working in a coffee shop in muggle London?" is a much simpler question than, "Are you going to accept that auror offer and, if you don't, what will you do?"
Chocolate and Pastry by agentmoppet, anemonen (E, 50k)
When Pansy bets Draco that there is no chance he and Harry could carry out a genuine romantic relationship, he and Harry form a plan. But as their fake relationship progresses, Draco sees a side of Harry he never expected.
(We'll Call This Fixer-Upper) Home by @phdmama (E, 52k)
Draco Malfoy hasn’t set foot on English soil in ten years. After the war, he fled to America, where he found himself in a community, and healed himself through following his heart into music. He’s now the lead singer and songwriter for an internationally known band, who have come back to headline the Wiltshire Music Festival.
Meet Me at Midnight by @the-starryknight (T, 57k)
Harry was beginning to wonder if he’d ever make anything again when Malfoy stormed through the door of Harry’s furniture shop. Now Harry’s got an impossible Ministry commission to finish, and even less energy than ever to deal with his elusive muse.
The Way Down by lettered (T, 65k)
Harry is overwhelmed by his own power and fame and angst, so he's become a hermit. Draco Malfoy is tired of the melodrama.
I Am Not Who I Became by mab_di (E, 93k)
Draco left England after the trials and has travelled the world meeting wizards and Muggles from different cultures and with vastly different relationships to magic, each other, and the natural world. Now he's a fisherman in Finland on commercial vessels. Harry has been struggling since the war and has become a recluse while trying to write his autobiography.
By the Grace by lettered (T, 140k)
Harry is an Auror instructor. Malfoy wants to be an Auror.

Hi, I hope youre doing well! :) I know there is already masterlists about it but do you maybe know even more fics where Harry is jealous of Draco? Its my favourite trope and you just always deliver 🫶🏻
Hi anon! You’ve probably checked my old reclist for this trope so here are some additional recs for you. Enjoy! ☺️
Byzantine by @oflights (T, 1k)
“He bought them at auction,” Draco says in a hushed sort of voice, beaming down at the dangly gold earrings Harry is frantically casting on. “I can’t even imagine the price—not that that matters, of course, it would be thoughtful either way, but look—those are genuine pearls, Harry. Byzantine! Sixth century!”
Once Upon a (Wet) Dream by InnerLilith (E, 13k)
Once a year, Harry has a very strange dream. Meanwhile, in real life, he’s falling for Draco Malfoy.
The Matchmaker's Spell by @kbrick (E, 21k)
Thanks to a spell cast over all of wizarding Britain, Draco is forced to marry Harry Potter, who still hates him. But Draco refuses to live a cold, sexless existence, choosing to fill the emptiness in his life and his bed with a parade of lovers. And while Harry may not be able to stand Draco, he despises seeing him with anyone else.
LA, Who Am I To Love You? by @epitomereally (E, 42k)
Harry’s summer in LA is not going as expected. Pansy Parkinson keeps inviting him to parties in the Hollywood Hills and harassing him to finally go to the physical therapist, Blaise Zabini keeps slipping new strains of his company’s magical weed into Harry’s pockets in hopes of an endorsement, and Draco Malfoy keeps having sex with everyone but Harry.

liv I love your blog so much. thanks for being here <3 I've been looking for a very specific theme recently and can't really find any fics with it. I've read so many fics with one character being ace and that resulting in miscommunication and intimacy issues, and I love love all of them!! But I was wondering, do you know any where they have intimacy issues due to one character just being afraid of intimacy ect sex in general, not due to them being asexual? Doesn't have to be them being a virgin necessarily..thank you in advance babe!! Appreciate everything you do :)
Hi anon! This is quite specific but I think you will enjoy these fics. It’s important to mention that not all of them revolve around sex after all that’s just one form of intimacy :) enjoy!
Once Bitten by Frayach (E, 5.6k)
Harry likes to bite and fortunately Draco likes to be bitten.
Catch and Release by @shealwaysreads (E, 11k)
Wizarding Britain is changing; a slow integration with the Muggle world has begun, and Draco Malfoy has been summoned from his quiet life crafting wards in France to help. But that’s not what this story is about. This story is about Potter, and magic, and the courage it takes to reach out.
The Body Keeps Score by amorsindolor (E, 13k)
Draco cries during sex. A story about touch, intimacy, and the healing we find through mutual trust and love.
Vale Sanare by RurouniHime (M, 23k)
Draco’s world gains a new component just when he thought he’d sorted everything out.
As Souls From Bodies Steal by Femme (E, 41k)
Hope may be found in the oddest of places, even in the bleakness of winter.
Embers by @shiftylinguini (E, 41k)
Werewolf Alphas aren't meant to be alone, or to suppress their ruts indefinitely like Draco has been since he was bitten eight years ago. He needs company, companionship, to knot ― he needs an Omega Heat Companion. At least, that’s what the Healers say, and even Draco can admit contacting the person they’ve referred him to might be nice. Of course it turns out to be bloody Potter.
Touch by @bixgirl1 (E, 45k)
When Harry is referred to a professional cuddler for the soothing power of touch, he’s dubious — even more so when the Cuddler who shows up turns out to be Malfoy. But in the years since the war, Malfoy’s changed, and over the next several days Harry is confronted by how much he still doesn’t know about this new version of his old enemy — and by how much he wants to learn.
Another Heart Whispers Back by @slytherco (E, 53k)
At twenty-five, Harry Potter is still a virgin and sorely lacking in options to change that state anytime soon. To help him find a plus one for Ron and Hermione’s wedding, and maybe kill two birds with one stone, Harry’s friends set him up on a series of blind dates. The only problem is, there’s something not quite right with each of their candidates.
A Room Up There (And You In It) by @the-starryknight (T, 59k)
When Preservationist Draco Malfoy was assigned to work on Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, he was excited to delve into the gorgeous Black family antiques. His excitement quickly ended when something in the House decided it did not like his presence one bit. Featuring a grumpy antiques lover who most certainly did not sign up for this, encounters with a vengeful apparition, and a healthy application of Christmas spirit.
Monster by @orange-peony (E, 71k)
“Hmm,” Hermione hums, tapping her index finger against her bottom lip and then smiling at Harry. “A broken music box, you say…” “A cursed one,” Harry corrects her. “Well, it’s still a music box that is not working properly,” Hermione points out with a very intent grin. “That will give you a chance to see him.”
Nothing Like the Sun by Lomonaaeren (E, 144k)
Harry finally realizes that he has trouble keeping lovers both because of his looks and because he isn’t very good at sex. He does what he can to alter that, but it seems he’s never going to be good enough to satisfy a wizard lover. When Draco Malfoy offers, Harry thinks a casual relationship with him might be the solution to his problems. But he should have remembered one thing: when it comes to Harry, Malfoy has a problem staying casual.

Hi! Would you happen to know of any fics where Harry or Draco is very guarded/reticent or struggling with trust/intimacy issues etc and the other slowly breaks down their walls/helps them work through their issues? Thank you <3
Hi anon, absolutely! Here are a few recs:
Touched by @writcraft (2014, T, 7k)
On the insistence of his parents, Draco begins to see a therapist to discuss his difficulties with physical intimacy.
