Moral Alignment Test
Tumblr media
You are 43.3% good, 14.2% chaotic, making you neutral good.
Neutral Good
People who are Neutral Good are guided by their conscience and typically act altruistically, with only secondary regard for whether their actions are lawful or in line with cultural expectations or traditions. Neutral Good individuals have no problems with what is lawful as such, and nor are they rebels by nature, but they believe in furthering kindness and good deeds through whatever means seem necessary to them. If fostering good means supporting an organized society, then that is what must be done. If good can only come about through the overthrow of the existing social order, then so be it. For many who are Neutral Good, insistence on either lawfulness or rebellion is seen as detriments to or distractions from the greater goal of promoting true kindness in the world.

The fact that Riz surprised Kipperlilly so much that she gave away her position with a “what the fuck?“ is so funny to me bc she really thought she had Riz 100% figured out! She thought she could mastermind plan for him.
But the truth is, Riz is just as insane as the rest of the bad kids! She never stood a chance and I hope she dies mad about it.

drawing her with straight hair just healed me i think
[id: three images with digital drawings of nya from ninjago. on the first image there is a colored drawing of her from the thighs up. she is standing with one hand on her hip and the other holding her trident in front of her casually. she is wearing a gray tank top and her maroon gi is tied around her waist. she is looking at something straight on, with her chin tilted down and a serious look in her face. next to that there is a headshot of her with short hair in a bowl cut. she is frowning and looking to the side.
the second image has three doodles. the first one is a headshot of her turned to the right but looking left. she is smiling, her eyes squinted slightly, and she has one brow raised. she is drawn with with her hair in a high ponytail, a chunk of hair falling off the ponytail and onto her neck and her bangs messy on her forehead. next to that theres a doodle of her with her head tilted up and to the side as she smiles wide, her eyes squinting. she is facing the left but is looking at something over her shoulder. the last drawing is of her with short hair. she is drawn from the waist up, she is wearing a tank top and her arms crossed; she is frowning as if judging someone.
the last image has three headshots, two of nya and one of kai from ninjago. the first one is a side profile headshot of nya turned to the left. she is drawn with east asian features, mostly her nose and she is drawn with her bangs messy, her hair in a high ponytail except for some strands that stay on her neck. below that theres the other two headshots. these are drawn sude by side and facing the viewer completely. kai is on the left and nya on the right. they are drawn with similar features, nose and eyes, and they are both drawn with neutral expressions with their eyes looking towards the right./ end id]

Nia Bloodwen x GN!Reader
Tumblr media
From the moment you were born, you were shaped by a world of duty and honor. As the heir to the revered L/N family in Xelera, your life was a tapestry woven with the threads of tradition and responsibility. From your earliest years, you were taught the importance of your family's legacy, and instilled with a sense of purpose that guided every step you took.
When your mother introduced you to Melanie Strater, it was not just a union of families but the beginning of a deep and heartfelt connection. Melanie’s warmth and kindness drew you in, and over time, your feelings for her grew into a love that felt like a beacon in the complex world of nobility. Your marriage was a joyous occasion, and the arrival of your two sons brought a new level of happiness to your life. The mansion, once cold and silent, was filled with the laughter and love of a growing family.
Tragically, the joy you found with Melanie was short-lived. A sudden and mysterious illness took her away from you far too soon. The silence that followed her departure was overwhelming. Your home, once alive with her presence, now felt hollow. Your sons, though young, sensed the depth of your grief and did their best to offer comfort. Their efforts, small but heartfelt, were a testament to their love for you and their mother.
Years passed, and you slowly began to find solace in the daily routines of life. Despite your best efforts, the absence of Melanie remained a poignant ache in your heart. Your sons, now grown up, became your closest allies in facing the outside world. They were determined to protect you from the advances of ambitious nobles who sought to court you, driven by their own desires rather than genuine affection.
Theodore, your eldest, used his natural charm and extensive network of friends among the noble children to keep potential suitors at bay. His ability to weave tales and spread rumors about these suitors kept them away, sparing you from the discomfort of their attention. Theodore’s actions were a silent but powerful declaration of his loyalty and love for you, ensuring that your focus remained where it was needed most.
Henry, your younger son, had his own way of protecting you. At social gatherings, he would craft elaborate schemes to capture your attention, from feigning injuries to claiming he felt unwell. His antics, though often playful, were a means to keep you close and shield you from unwelcome advances. As he grew older, his methods evolved, but his intention remained the same, to keep you by his side and away from the clutches of those who sought to intrude on your life.
But it was Queen Nia’s presence in your life that grew ever more unsettling. Initially distant and even antagonistic, she had come to respect and admire you. Or perhaps it was something more. Nia’s feelings had twisted into an obsession that she carefully concealed beneath a veneer of professionalism and support. She couldn’t stand the thought of you being with anyone else, especially after Melanie. Her jealousy was a consuming fire, her thoughts constantly drifting to ways she could bind you to her forever.
Your children, however, posed a significant challenge. They seemed to have an uncanny sense of Nia’s intentions, and they did everything in their power to keep her away. Whenever Nia invited you to her palace, your sons followed closely behind, never giving her a moment alone with you. And when she visited your mansion, they were always present, like little sentinels guarding their most precious treasure.
Once, when Nia playfully presented you with a box of cupcakes she had made herself, she tried to create a lighthearted moment between the two of you. "Hello there, my dear, yes it is I, your Queen! Kneel before me~! Haha~ I’m just kidding, look what I made for you, however! Cupcakes~ Open the box! There’s a secret message for you!”
“Oh, how sweet! Thank you, Nia, I—”
Before you could finish, your children came charging down the hall, laughing. For some reason, they couldn't go any other way but directly between the two of you. One of them bumped into Nia, causing the box of cupcakes to fall onto the floor. A gasp escaped both of you as Nia glared at the children. You pulled them aside, sighing at yet another disaster caused by those little pests. In her mind, Nia seethed. If only she could eliminate them too… No. She could never hurt you like that. Or could she? The thought lingered, dark and dangerous.
Nia tried to maintain her patience, but her frustration grew. She needed you to see her, to need her as much as she needed you. Once, she sent flowers to you every day for a month while away on diplomatic business. When she noticed the lack of grateful letters from you, she knew your sons had interfered. “So, did you receive anything while I was gone? Like… flowers?”
You looked at her, eyes bright and wide. “No, should I have?”
Her nails dug into her palms, her patience fraying. She had poured her heart into every flower, every petal, every handwritten note. "…No."
Even her attempts at verbal confessions were thwarted.
“Y/N… I am deeply—”
“CONSTIPATED!!!” Henry’s voice suddenly rang out, and he appeared, waving his arms frantically. “PAPA, I NEED TO POOOO!! IT HURTSSS, PAPA, IT HURTS! I NEED A DOCTOR, PAPAAA!!!” You hurriedly caught him, giving Nia an apologetic look as she sighed, begrudgingly letting you go.
But recently, Nia had learned of their schedules. There was a half-hour sweet spot when both children were occupied with their tutors. It was her golden opportunity, a precious thirty minutes for her to finally confess—and perhaps more.
“Bye bye, Theodore, dear! Have fun with your tutor! Oh wait! Where is Henry? Ah, right, he’s also being tutored! Isn’t that fun, my dear? Just you and me, all alone for half an hour!” Theodore seethed as he was led away by his tutor, watching Nia’s wicked smile as she locked the doors to the living room.
She turned back to you, her gaze intense. “Well, we don’t have much time, so let’s get this out of the way, hmm?” You looked at her, confused, your usual soft smile still on your face.
“I am madly in love with you. I have been since you married Melanie. May she rest in peace,” she said, though her eyes betrayed her true feelings—may she not rest ever.
“Oh, Nia, I don’t—” You tried to gently reject her, but she interrupted.
“Dare you reject me, I will bring down your entire family, kidnap you, and leave your sons to rot in this soon-to-be-forgotten mansion. Pick your poison, dear.” Her voice was almost feverish, eyes wide with a manic intensity. You felt a chill run down your spine. You agreed, there was no other choice. It couldn’t be that bad, right? At least your family would be stable and successful, and your sons happier and healthier in the palace… right?
Meanwhile, Henry, having been alerted by his brother about Nia being alone with you, frantically tried to open the living room doors. Despite finishing his lesson as quickly as possible, he found the door locked. Knocking and pounding, he yelled as loud as he could, knowing they could easily pull at your heartstrings. “PAPA!! PAPA!! I CUT MY HAND ON ACCIDENT, PAPA, HELP!!!”
The door burst open, and your worried face came into view. “Where?!” You looked disheveled, dark red lipstick smeared around your lips, and your coat discarded. Henry glanced past you at Nia, who was lounging against the couch with a cocky smirk.
Nia’s heart raced with a twisted sense of triumph. She watched your son scramble around you, desperate for your attention. They were losing this battle, and she was so close to finally having you all to herself.
The Queen always wins.

Love Quinn x yandere/dark! reader; you express your displeasure with her giving her attention to someone else
Tw: yandere/dark content, gender neutral reader, the reader and Love are married, toxic/unhealthy relationship, implied infidelity, kidnapping/murder, very brief mentioned wine drinking, pretty graphic self harm (cutting) used as a form of "punishment" (you'll see what I mean), Love is kind of scared of you but also loves you because of it, this is really gory and dark and I'm not even sorry
You watched from the background as Love spoke with one of the regular customers that frequented her bakery, trying not to scowl as they touched her arm and moved in closer. Couldn't they see the gold band on her ring finger? She was already taken by you, and they'd be stupid not to know that.
Love glanced over when she felt your eyes on her, trying not to react when she saw the stormy look in your eyes. It could mean so many different things, you looking at her like that, which meant she had no idea whether she should feel frightened, aroused, or angry. Maybe a combination of all three.
"Excuse me," she politely spoke to the customer before making her way over to you. "Hey, honey. How are things? I wasn't expecting you to come visit the bakery today." She smiled, that bright, charming smile that you so adored. If you hadn't been so pissed off, you might've smile some yourself.
"Who was that person you were talking to?" You asked instead, subtly pointing in their direction.
"Oh, them? They're just a customer. They come in once a week to try a new pastry." She merely shrugged it off, trying to act natural as she walked past you, heading for the kitchen in the back.
"Is that the only reason why they come in?" You further pressed while you followed behind her, not ready to drop the subject just yet.
Love stopped and turned to face you. "What are you trying to imply here, exactly?" She snapped, her tone firm and harsh. Anyone else, and they would've cowered in fear, apologizing before quickly running for cover.
But you weren't just anyone. You were her spouse, and more importantly you weren't afraid of her, despite knowing what she was capable of.
"You know what," you hissed out in an equally harsh tone, narrowing your eyes as you glared at her. "I know you've been cheating on me, I just didn't think you would be so stupid as to do it right in front of my face."
She scoffed, as if offended by your words. "Don't be ridiculous, I'm not cheating. You're just paranoid. Now, get out. I have orders to fill, and I don't need you of all people getting in my way."
Despite the resentment you were currently harboring towards her, you did as she said. Besides, you had your own work to keep you busy.
Later that night, she returned home to find her not-so-secret lover tied up and dead in the kitchen. She both admired and resented you for your determination to get rid of anyone who thought they could touch your wife and get away with it.
"Hello, dear," you greeted casually as you sat at the kitchen table, a glass of wine in one hand and a small knife in the other. "Please, won't you sit with me?"
She gulped, knowing better than to argue. "What, um, what are you going to do with that knife?"
"Oh, I think you know." Setting down your wine glass, you pulled up your sleeve and held out your arm wrist up, positioning the knife over the skin there.
"No, please-" she gasped as she realized what you were going to do. It wasn't the first time you'd cut yourself as a punishment for her infidelity, and you doubted it would be the last.
"You know better than to fool around with people behind my back. And since their death doesn't seem to have that big of an affect on you, maybe this will."
Holding the knife in a steady grip, you took it and slowly cut open the inside of your arm, barely flinching when the blade hit your skin. She watched with horror as you cut yourself, her heart starting to beat rapidly inside her chest as panic and dread bubbled up inside her, threatening to explode.
"D- Don't! Don't do that, please -" she begged desperately, tears filling her eyes and streaming down her cheeks in salty rivers of sorrow. The mere sight alone of your blood spilling out onto your skin was enough to send her into a fit. "I'm so, so sorry, I'll- I'll never cheat on you again, honey, I swear, I swear I won't-"
You tried not to allow a smirk to crack your otherwise aloof expression, well aware that you were about to get exactly what you wanted. Her, you would never dream of hurting in a million years. Not physically, anyway. But emotional manipulation? Now, that was right up your alley.
"Sh, Love. It's alright, it's okay," you murmured gently as you set down the knife, which was now stained with your blood. "Go get me the first aid kit so we can fix this, alright?"
She nodded her head in agreement, obeying your command as she quickly got up and left to find the first aid kit for you. When she returned, she sat down next to you, her tears having mostly dried despite the lingering proof of her sudden outburst on her face: her lashes were wet and dewy, and her eyes were puffy and red.
You knew just how much it tore her apart to see you get hurt, especially if it was you hurting yourself over something she did. After this, you had no doubt that she'd think twice about running into the arms of someone else, and that she'd have all of her attention on you for at least the next few months. The thought alone made you want to smile.
Her hands were shaking as she carefully cleaned the wound and patched it up, and you could tell she felt guilty for being the one to cause such a thing. "I'm sorry," she breathed out in a trembling voice, her bottom lip stuck out in a sad and apologetic pout. "I'm so, so sorry, I- I never, ever meant for something like this to happen."
If her lover's dead body that was still residing in the kitchen gave her cause for outrage before, it was certainly forgotten about by now. Everything was playing out exactly as you'd hoped.
You reached your hand out to hold her cheek, giving her a reassuring look as you used your thumb to wipe away a stray tear. "I know you didn't, sweetheart. It's alright, I'm not upset with you." Not anymore, anyway. Certainly not after teaching her a lesson she'd remember for a good long while.

a temple to the seas
summary: as dottore's assistant, you run into a variety of creatures. however, this one seems a little too human for your taste...
word count: ~3.4k
-> warnings: major dehumanizing language and behavior (towards character, temporarily by reader), minor mention of a (presumed to be) dead body, mentions + minor depiction of blood, titles of two harbingers not shown in game (written pre-natlan), some sort of weird power dynamic going on but neither of them are winning
-> gn reader (you/yours)

dottore worked with a myriad of strange and wondrous creatures, both with and without natural origin. on the tamer side of things, you’ve been called in to inspect slimes with weak or nonexistent elemental charge, a crystalfly with six wings, and a strangely docile lawachurl. on the other end, you had to tear apart ancient ruin machinery, pistons firing to grind moss-covered gears against each other. you’ve even fixed up your fair share of segments, one of the few entrusted with their delicate circuitry. hubristically, you thought you’d seen it all, because what could surprise you more than the blue heart of an abyss lector placed in your hands?
you flash your keycard in front of the reader beside a thick steel door, the hallway light creeping along the floor as it slides open. the room is dark, with a large cloth covering the back half. it’s roughly taped up, with dark… mystery liquid bleeding out from the bottom. it’s surprisingly empty, with neither person nor furniture to keep you company. you’re left with a covered cart, the tools strapped to your sides, and the paper in your hands. your target is behind the curtain, it seems.
you don’t think too hard about it, instead pulling the cloth off the cart and messily pushing it through the handle on one side to keep it off the floor. the door shuts and plunges the room into darkness, so you take a small penlight from your pocket and tuck it behind your ear, reading the paper on the board.
you’re to study a specimen from the sea, strangely. the doctor usually kept his study to terrestrial creatures, an observation already noted on the page. a fishing party had reported something strange in the water, which had only turned into a concern once it had attacked one of the fatui’s ships. commoners were able to sail through the area fine, even in small fishing dinghies, but it chose to specifically attack the ship sent for negotiations with mondstadt. il capitano had expended several dozen squads retrieving both the mora lost and the beast itself, which was wounded by the ship’s anchor and made for a fierce capture, blah blah blah. you couldn’t care less about the details. instead, you skip to your short list of duties at the bottom: repair the enclosure, determine the intelligence of whatever you’ve caught, and establish a line of communication if sufficiently advanced.
you’re not sure why they think you’ll be able to talk with whatever’s in there, but that’s a problem for later. you take stock of what you were left, searching in the thin beam of your penlight and squinting through the light reflected off the steel cart. the lights haven’t turned on yet, so they must have either been manually set to off or damaged when the subject was brought in. not including your pen, the only light is from the card reader behind you and what slips through between the cloth and the walls, both a pale blue that do little to illuminate the room at large. you give up on the cart and scan the walls for the light switch, finding it closer to the door than normal. thankfully, it was just set to off, but the lights flicker when you turn them on. you click off your penlight, looking up at them oddly. why would they be flickering?
having apparently given its answer to your unspoken question, the cloth trembles with a dull thud. the liquid at the bottom spreads out a bit further, looking clear now that the lights are on. your instinct says it’s water, but it could just as easily be alcohol or gasoline. the cloth itself is already dark, so it’s hard to tell how much of it is soaked.
then again, it is a supposed sea monster, right? it makes sense that it would be held in a tank, but the water spilling doesn’t reflect the loudness of the thud. if it had rammed the glass, then the water splashing over would have been visible as it hit the cloth. on the other hand, you were told to repair the enclosure, so-
another thud, louder, the water spreading out in another surge. you quickly discard your train of thought, tucking away your pen and checking over the cart with much more ease. there’s a first-aid kit, silicone sealant, and a roll of thick, clear tape that you grab. it’s a temporary fix, but you need to get a grasp on the situation before you can decide on a proper course of action. you push the tape into the large pocket of your lab coat, freeing both of your hands to grab the cloth over the mystery tank. you pull, quickly yanking it off and letting it drop. it doesn’t feel soaked yet, so it can hopefully absorb some of the water on the floor.
the tank itself is… boring. the water is murky, a tumultuous mess of air bubbles and thick black strings of something. chains? no, then it wouldn’t have been able to hit the glass. you wouldn’t be surprised if it had broken the chains, however, as the cracks spiderwebbed through the glass are alarmingly thick. you unspool some of the tape, sticking strips over the sections where the cracks intersect. water still drips through, but at a far slower pace. it’ll do for now.
as you patch up the glass, the water slowly begins to settle. sediment falls to the bottom, and you can’t tell if the shine is natural or because it’s reflecting the light streaming through from the ceiling. the tank is still dark, though, a deep fog covering the back half. there should be lights all the way to the far wall, so they’re likely damaged.
as if it heard your thoughts—were you superstitious, you’d be worried by now—one of the lights on the near side breaks with a shatter, glass and sparks falling into the tank below. you step away, moving well out of range of the puddle on the floor despite the minuscule charge. the other light breaks in a similar fashion, though this time you catch something small and dark being flung at it. you bring out your penlight again, crouching beside the glass to catch a glimpse of whatever it is. you’re expecting a link of the chain-like structure you saw before, maybe a rock or shell, so of course it’s none of those things. there, at the bottom of the tank, is a single coin of mora. it shines as innocently as the glass slowly sinking around it, oblivious to the gears turning in your mind.
you can’t believe that a sea creature would have want for terrestrial money, but you can believe that it’s attracted to the glimmer. it’s smart enough to use one of the smaller coins, though you’re not sure if that’s to make it harder to see as it flies or if it knows its value. you don’t hold your breath about it. if squid can open jars and slimes can plan ambushes for their prey, you don’t expect anything impressive from whatever this thing is.
the glass and mora are still there, so it didn’t care about either enough to actually grab it. it’s either waiting for you to back off, dislikes the light, or both. you stand, making your way back to the cart. you trade your tape for the proper sealant, scribbling a small note about your findings on the second, blank page on the clipboard. you reread the original file, this time catching that a non-insignificant amount of mora was missing from the wreckage. it was packed in sealed bags, so it wasn’t as if it was carried away by the tide. your mystery friend was in possession of ten thousand mora, give or take, a fact you tuck away for later. there’s plenty of scrap metal to be found around the lab, which can potentially be used as bribes if your theory proves correct.
the tank thuds again, and you turn quickly. you’re only able to catch a glimpse of black retreating into the fog, though, the flash of scales a microscopic indication of what you’re dealing with. plenty of sea creatures have scales, though this eliminates most of the ones with tentacles. scales, with enough force to crack the glass of its tank. what are the chances it’s just a particularly aggressive shark?
none, of course—capitano’s squadron’s could likely take down a shark one-handed and half-blind—but it’s fun to play pretend.
you approach the tank, pulling the tape from the bigger leaks and put it over the thinner cracks instead. silicone is scraped over the main breaks, the excess smeared to the edge of the tape. you peer into the tank as best as you can, but it’s too dark to see anything. even with the broken lighting, what does get through isn’t diffusing naturally. the darkness seems to swirl, collecting the dirt off the floor-…
the mora’s gone. so is the glass. you stare at the place they used to be, briefly lost in the sight of the concrete flooring. you hadn’t noticed any movement, so it was either masked by fog or a sufficiently slow creep. both? the ‘mist’ inside seems to ripple and flutter with invisible currents, never parting to let anything through.
another coin of mora shoots through the veil, hitting a weak spot dead-on and pushing the cracks higher through the glass. you’re starting to suspect the thing can read your thoughts… or it can just use whatever brain is left to know that you’re watching. what’s gotten into you?
you shake it off, pushing sealant into the new fracture. some of them spread too high for you to reach without a stool, though they’re fairly thin. you’ve been pretty lucky, not having to put yourself in a vulnerable position yet—unless, if you step back, it was intentional? you’re only halfway across the tank, but you take a break to do just that, actually taking in the patterns of the rifts instead of logging them as another problem to be solved.
the room is fairly tall, though the tank doesn’t stretch all the way to the top. you can only reach about three quarters of the way to the top of the glass, and there’s a sizable space of air above the tank. instead of focusing at the top and trying to widen that opening, the damage is nearly entirely in the bottom third. everything that reaches higher are hairline, not intended to spread that high. whatever it is, it wants to flood the room, enough that it’s prioritizing that over escape.
definitely smarter than a squid.
you approach your cart to make note of your realization, using your penlight to write. you angle yourself so you can barely see the tank out of the corner of your eye, sketching a rough diagram of the room and marking where the major breaks are. like last time, the water begins to twist, the mist receding from the glass. you draw random shapes on the side of your paper to stall, interspersed with writing-like loops in case it’s somehow able to understand the difference. the sides of the mist curl in, forming a bubble in the middle. it swells, rushing forward, and you quickly flick on your light and point it toward the tank.
your light is weak, obviously. it’s a pen, a focused beam meant to fit in tight spaces and illuminate them efficiently. it’s dispersed somewhat by the distance, glass, and water, but you know what you see no matter how unclear. a large, glittering tail lashes forward, wrapped in heavy gray chain and dense fog. it’s yanked back as quick as it came, but you’re no fool. the weight of the ship’s anchor hitting the glass makes another low thud, barely-there crackles heralding new fissures. it was softer this time, likely thrown off from your light.
smart enough to use tools. scaled. deep-dwelling, or otherwise nocturnal. you don’t know much about the sea, but that doesn’t seem to add up into anything remotely normal. sea lions don’t have scales, neither do dolphins, whales, or squid, and none of fontaine’s aberrants could survive either the cold or the salt. snowstriders are large, but they’re naturally a bright white. whatever you have, it’s an anomaly.
you shouldn’t be so surprised. since when did the doctor deal in the mundane?
you leave the rest of the tank’s cracks as is, instead picking through the lower level of the cart. there’s a small slate and marker, a larger light, some gloves, and a bunch of other stuff you don’t bother with. you tuck the slate under your arm and put the marker with your pen, pulling off the large light and a battery pack. it’s heavy, but you manage. the water agitates when you set it by the tank, as close as you can without risking water damage. it should be water resistant, but you’re not about to test that theory and get yourself in trouble.
the thing must have an idea of what you’re doing. it also must not be native to too deep waters, or else itd be blind. but if it was in the shallows, how did it manage to grow so large without ever being seen?
you insert the battery, hovering your hand over the knob. there’s no telling if it’ll get aggressive in the light, so you prime yourself to run just in case. you look up into the dark fog of the tank, twisting the light to full power.
your first, horrific thought is that it’s somehow brought a corpse into the lab. sure, the fatui aren’t exactly known for their top care of fallen soldiers, but surely it would have been separated from one before being put in its tank. the body is half-hidden behind a mass of scales, a deep violet that shines despite the fog—which itself isn’t fog. you’re not sure how or why, but it’s shifted from black to brown, clearly just dirt constantly kept in motion. your light cuts through it easily as it begins to settle, the tail shifting to hide the body. you can’t see a head yet, is it an eel of some kind?
and then you understand. the body’s shoulder moves, led by a black hand. dark ink stretches up their forearm like an infection, leaving behind claws instead of nails. it reaches down, behind the wrap of scales, and flicks another coin at the glass with far too much strength to be puppetted.
that’s its body*.* you physically recoil from the realization, hand tightening on the light and dimming it a little more in the process. black scales shine purple as it approaches, ripped and jagged fins twitching and sweeping the dirt away from impossibly far off. still likely an elemental, you think dully, watching as it approaches. another coin of mora flashes between two long claws and flicks towards you quick enough to leave a small trail of vacuum bubbles behind it. it hits the glass with a sharp click, right over the light.
you know what it wants. you’re still reeling from the idea that something can look so human when deep beneath the sea, struggling to fit its silhouette together in your mind, but you can still think properly. the dirt continues to sink, revealing more paper-thin fins shredded by the anchor’s chain. the floor is marred from thousands of claw marks, though you can’t see the full extent of the damage. its curled up over the well, wrapped tightly in its tail. all you can see are purple scales and lavender fins, waving gently in the water. if you’d seen a picture of it like this, you’d only assume it was a strangely large eel that had been unlucky enough to wander into the wrong side of a harbor.
but you knew better. the scales shift and a dark claw sticks out, another mora flung towards you. it hits with more force than last time.
you don’t know what to do. it’s hurt, obviously; dark blood seeps from between every scale, whether because of the anchor or the torn fins or something else you can’t see. you’re surprised it was able to whip the anchor as fast as it did. with how dark and blurry everything is, you can’t help but wonder if blood was a substantial part of the mist you saw before. not many morals last long under the doctor’s instruction, but you don’t like seeing it recoil from the light. maybe it’s another hallucination, maybe it’s pulling on your neurons to make you do what it wants, but the end result is the same.
against your better judgement, you lower the light just slightly, keeping your hand on it in case things turn south. the monster’s tail slowly unwinds, revealing more of the body within. their skin is bluish, with dark streaks across the ribs. you watch in a daze as it crawls forward, finally coming face to face with the monster in the tank.
it looks painfully human. bright yellow eyes, the same color as the mora it not-so-discreetly swipes off the floor, surrounded by a cloud of black hair. you could almost fool yourself into thinking its a free diver, a particularly foolish one who left his wetsuit on the shore and was slowly succumbing to hypothermia. blackish gills flutter along his neck and ribs, your hand unthinkingly turning off the light when its scales press against the glass. he seems perfectly human from the waist up.
and then it hisses at you. his lips pull back over layers of shark-like fangs, your hand alarmingly twisting forward instead of back with the rest of your body. the knob clicks under your fingers, the light entirely turning off, and the thing has the gall to look proud.
right. dangerous sea-thing that risked its life to try and flood the lab. you’re usually better under pressure than this, but to be fair you usually don’t deal with subjects that can maybe-probably read your mind.
you pull yourself together, pulling the cap off your marker and writing a simple question across the slate in your neatest handwriting. your hand is strangely shaky. when you’re done, you turn it towards the glass.
‘can you read common?’
his eyes flick first to the slate, and then to yours, his hair shifting in an invisible current. it parts enough that you can see his ears have elongated into spiny ruffs, each flared out wide. you don’t know what that means. you go to write as such on the board, and a sharp click draws your attention. he waves at the slate, then nods.
what was his previous reaction, then? if he understood that nodding was an agreement, then why not do that to begin with? if you mapped the movement of his ears onto another animal, would it be a stretch to interpret it as annoyance? could he be offended you thought he couldn’t read?
another coin shoots toward your face, the click startling you out of your thoughts. you blink, and he waves to your board again, with more emphasis. was he used to this style of questioning, then? you’ll have to ask the segment who was in charge of him prior about what they did.
‘what’s 2 + 2?’
how many times have you been shot at since you’ve come in here? you should start a tally.
you continue with basic questions, slowly increasing their difficulty. he looks almost bored through all of them, laying over his tail. you can never see further than his waist, irritatingly, and he keeps summoning more mist when you aren’t looking to further fog the transition. you’re tempted to go get your clipboard, but figure that’ll break whatever rapport you’ve built up. he’s not aggressive anymore, so you’ll settle for sneaking glances at the patterns of his fins.
‘do you know the name snezhnaya?’
he’s rather fond of giving you looks you’d dare to call condescending, your only answer coming in irritated ruffles of his spines until he gets tired of waiting and nods again. you somewhat wish you could give him a slate to write on himself, but he could easily break it into dangerous shards. not that it would matter much, considering his claws…
he clicks two fingers together in an unmistakable snap, and though the snap is lost in the water you know you’ve been caught. you quickly write down some random question about the capital to distract him, but it doesn’t work. his teeth flash in the light, though it seems to be more of a smile than a jeer. his shoulders bob, unnatural fangs gleam beneath a sharp cupid’s bow, and you’re not sure when he stopped being an eel and started becoming a person.

Now that I have Drizzt mutuals I am once again reminded of the funniest phenomenon of people getting into drow lore that I seem to see. Which is “Wait a minute this Vhaeraun guy kind of rules.”

fancy spells that show the truth
Ominis Gaunt x GN!Hufflepuff!Reader (MC from game = Eliza Fig, Gryffindor) part five of the fancy series - [ToC]
Summary: The group of wayward students arrives to help- but causes problems along the way. (So I wasn’t planning on making Eliza an evil-type but the story goes as it does i guess. Hope no one got to attached to her)
Tumblr media
“Diffindo!”
“Bombarda!”
You shot your head upward at the sounds of spells being cast, looking across the way through a bit of forest to see lights flashing back and forth, a multitude of colours. Reds and greens pop out mostly, and you sit there holding your breath. This could be it.
“It’s them!” Marcus calls out, running up to his boss. Having sat here long enough, you eventually got a look around. You were currently put aside from the rest of the encampment, close to ‘The Boss’s tent. He seemed annoyed at his entire party and set up his tent- the largest tent- away from the rest of the group. Not trusting them, he also had set up the creature cage nearby, with a table and campfire in the centre of the area. You currently sat among a group of five fwoopers, one of them a lime green colour that slept in the middle of the huddle. The gleaming silver keys to the cage hung on Ed’s belt, who was leaning against a tree nearby after being ordered to watch over the cage.
“But why!” Ed had complained loudly, huffing and crossing his arms. “You finally gave me my own crew and it includes Marcus and now you want me to- to watch over a cage of creatures-”
“I want you to babysit the child you decided to kidnap, actually,” The boss had sneered, glaring at the man you had once thought was the leader. “I’m certainly not going to sit out here watching them, that sounds exhausting. I have boss duties to attend to. Sales to be had, people to talk to, you know how it is.” The boss waved his hand in a dismissive manner, and you wondered if he actually did anything for the encampment besides being absolutely horrid to everyone.
“Fine, okay,” Ed agrees, too easily in your opinion. The boss seems to agree as he narrows his eyes, taking a step closer to the poacher.
“And there will be no pawning this job off to Marcus. I can’t stand that man.” With a slump of his shoulders, Ed agrees quietly. It seemed that had been his plan after all.
“Who is what?” The boss barked, leaning against the table in the centre with some assortment of papers spread out across it. At one point the wind had blown, and the boss had drawn a dagger from his hip and jammed it into the table to hold one of them down.
“The-” Marcus was breathing heavily, leaning down to rest his hands against his knees. “The attackers! It’s the kid! The student!” Two sets of eyes immediately look at you before looking back to Marcus, the boss straightening up.
“What are you talking about Marcus? Spit it out.”
“It’s the kid! That defeated Ranrok! The one that goes around spewing Unforgivables at us constantly!”
“Oh fuck this,” The boss spits out, then spins on his heels and immediately disappears. The air surrounding this area was quiet, only interrupted by sounds of battle just enough away that neither man felt threatened, yet. Ed and Marcus meet eyes, the latter seeming scared and curling in on himself.
“What do we do?”
“What the hell do you think we do? We fight back!”
“But it’s her!” Marcus pleaded, walking closer to Ed and grabbing his arm. “Look, I don’t want to die, Ed. Just unlock the cage, I’m sure they’re here for the kid.” Neither looked at you as they discussed your fate, and your eyes constantly wandered back toward the flashing lights through the trees. If you paid close attention, it almost seemed like it was getting closer.
“We’re not cowards, Marcus. If we fight and win, we can take over this operation. Fuck the boss, he ran! What do you think the rest of them will think?”
“The rest of them will be dead, Ed! Just like us!” His yell was surprising, having seemed like he was afraid of confrontation. Though honestly, out of everyone here, you probably felt the most for him. He just wanted friends, to fit in, and everyone condemned him for being ‘annoying.’ You hoped he could find better friends- and maybe a better profession. Maybe an actual profession.
“Petrificus Totalus!” A familiar voice called out and Marcus suddenly became as stiff as a board and fell sideways. You immediately jump up- as much as you were able, so really you were just standing on your knees- and clutch at the bars to push yourself further. You could just barely see him.
“Ominis!” He paused and you watched him heaving in a breath. Beside him, two more people ran forward- Poppy and Sebastian. They both called out spells, aiming toward Ed, who had jumped away and was trying to use the trees as cover.
“Y/N?” Ominis called out, taking a few steps forward as if unaware of the flashing of spells careening so close to his head. “Y/N?! Call out again, I can’t find you!”
“Ominis, I’m over here!” He immediately spun in your direction, his wand pulsing with red as he ran toward your voice. You could see a healthy flush across his face- and maybe right now wasn’t exactly the time to be checking him out, but c’mon. He’s literally saving your life right now. A healthy appreciation is warranted. “Over here Ominis! I’m in a- a cage right now.”
Ominis finally slowed his approach as he got closer, his eyebrows furrowing together tightly, his expression pinching into annoyance. “I know you’re here,” Ominis muttered, and you could barely hear him over the sounds of spells being flung around. It seemed the rest of the poachers had apparated nearby, hiding among the trees nearby Ed. Marcus still laid still on the ground nearby, but you could see his eyes frantically looking around as much as possible. Other students had filtered into the area- Natty and Garreth, and- wait. Wasn’t that the new fifth year- or perhaps, ‘used to be’ the new fifth year? What was her name again, Eliza Fig? Her smirk was cruel, and she muttered her spells under her breath, but the lights that sprung from her crooked wand were green.
“I know you’re here, but I can’t see you,” Ominis continued, drawing your attention back to him. “I can see like- a big box?”
“It’s a cage, Ominis. It’s likely enchanted, wards weaved into the bars.” Ominis began to nod, coming closer with his hand stretched outward. He found one of the bars, wrapping his hand firmly around it, serious expression in place. You raise a hand to place atop his, thankful for the contact, and you watch as Ominis’ breathing stutters, his huff of a breath as he finally falls to his knees in front of the cage, in front of you.
“I was so scared, Y/N. When you didn’t get back to your common room-”
“You were waiting for me at my common room?”
“Well, yeah, Y/N. I never want you mad at me.” Ominis’ voice was low, but he was close enough this time that you could hear him clearly. “I thought we agreed you wouldn’t go to the forbidden forest on your own anymore.”
“I didn’t realize I was going there, by the time I noticed I thought a quick brush would’ve been fine,” You were speaking quickly, your eyes constantly scanning the area behind Ominis for any sign of hostility aimed at him. Why he would turn his back to an active battlefield, you didn’t know. You were gearing up to berate him about it when you heard Eliza call out in a wicked, gleeful voice.
“Crucio!” You felt Ominis immediately tense under your hands, and you tighten your grip on him, glaring at the Gryffindor across from you. Sebastian immediately stomps over, throwing a hand down against her wand hand to make her drop the spell, immediately muttering something at her with an angry expression. You couldn’t hear him, however, you heard her reply.
“What’s it matter? They’re only poachers, they deserve it.”
“Where’s the lock, Y/N?” Ominis’ voice was deep, heavy with something you couldn’t quite place. You take his hand holding the wand, moving it before removing your hand from the current cross-section it was at to a closer one, taking his hand and dragging it the rest of the way. One there you tap his wand against the keyhole, muttering under your breath. Your eyes never leave the form of Eliza Fig.
“You choose interesting company, Ominis.”
“I did not choose her. She forced herself along, and the rest of your friends are apparently enamoured by her.” Ominis muttered angrily, tapping the lock and muttering Alohomora under his breath. It took three tries of him doing this and Ominis progressively grew antsier as it wouldn’t work. Finally, the lock clicks open loudly and the gate just barely swings outward. Ominis audibly sighs in relief, reaching forward to take hold of the gate and pull it wide open. You take initiative, rushing out of the cage and crushing Ominis in a hug.
“Thank you for coming for me.”
“Always, Y/N.” He immediately wrapped his own arms around your midsection, pulling you close and squeezing you. He holds you close for a long moment, in no hurry to release you- and you the same. Your arms were wrapped around his shoulders, face buried into his neck. You weren’t sure how long, exactly, the two of you stood there, but it did take a long minute before you realized that silence surrounded you. You lifted your gaze and saw the fighting has stopped, the colourful flashing of spells having ceased and all of the poachers were nowhere to be seen. Your friends stood around awkwardly, most watching you, and Eliza had a long smirk on her face that you wished you could hex away.
“It’s safe now,” Sebastian calls out, glaring toward Eliza before jogging over to close the distance. He places a hand on one of your arms as they were wrapped around Ominis, trying to gently smile for you. “Glad we got to you in time.”
You heard a mumbling against your neck from Ominis. Sebastian furrows his brow in confusion, unable to make out the grumbling tones, but you could’ve sworn you heard him say, “Go away.” You bit your lip to hold back a giggle, tightening your hold on Ominis and placing your chin on his shoulder.
“Thank you for coming.” You grin cheekily at him, your eyes dancing between all of your friends before landing back on Sebastian. “You didn’t have to.”
“What are you talking about? Of course I did.” Sebastian scoffs, crossing his arms with a self-satisfied smirk. “If I hadn’t helped you out, I wouldn’t hear the end of it from Ominis. Or Poppy.” You felt your chest shaking in a laugh, looking between Poppy and him a few times before raising your eyebrows. It was still dark outside, but you could’ve sworn you’d seen Sebastian’s cheeks grow dark at your nonverbal insinuation.
“Let’s get going,” Ominis finally spoke, pulling away from you mostly, but leaving one arm wrapped around your midsection, pressing his side against yours. He faces the rest of the group, void of the emotions that seemed so vibrant to you earlier. “We don’t want anyone reporting us missing.”
“Yeah, Merlin forbid,” Eliza mumbles under her breath, raising a hand to inspect her nails. You grit your teeth at this, narrowing your eyes at her.
“Why are you here, anyway?” You asked, then watched as Natty raised her eyebrows and took a few steps to get closer to the huddle of students forming, stepping up right next to Eliza. Eliza, instead, stands her ground but raises her eyes toward you, sizing you up. She drops her hand to place it on her hip, tilting her head.
“I’m sorry, who are you again?”
“They’re the student we literally came here to save, Eliza,” Ominis responded, venom spewing from his voice.
“Hey, hey, what’s with all the hostility?” Natty steps into the middle, holding her hands out on either side. She looks to Eliza and they seem to have a small conversation with their eyes before Natty turns her back to her, facing you and Ominis. “She literally came here to help, what’s the problem with that?”
“I’m sorry that I don’t enjoy being rescued by someone who would willingly- and joyfully, might I add- use Crucio on a person.” You watch Natty’s eyebrows furrow, her head tilting in confusion. There was no way she hadn’t seen that… right?
“I’m with Y/N on this one,” Ominis mumbled, tightening his hold on you. Natty’s face crumbles slightly, her head shaking from side to side. She turns around to face Eliza, a question clear on her face, though she still voices it.
“What they’re saying can’t be true, can it?” Eliza looks away, biting her lip and refusing to meet Natty’s gaze. Natty takes a step forward, raising a hand toward her. She looked to be in the middle of saying something but was interrupted by a shout.
“Crucio!” The green bolt flew from behind you and Ominis, aimed directly at where Eliza stood. Except Natty had taken two steps forward instead of one, and the green bolt hit her back instead. Her screams were horrid, haunting, and she fell to her knees and curled up in pain. You and Ominis spun around, him with his wand held outward and pulsing, and you with your eyes wide, looking for danger. You could just barely see one-half of Ed’s face behind a nearby tree, very close to where the spell was originating from.
“No!” Eliza called out, and you spun back around in time to see her on the floor in front of Natty, shaking her head quickly. The Gryffindor then jumped up, snarling in the direction of the spell. Taking a few steps forward, she lifts that crooked wand- the sight of which was beginning to shoot fear through you- and aims it toward the trees. “Avada-”
She was interrupted when, once again, Sebastian strode forward and slammed his hand down on her wand. She snarled at him, raising a hand to throw a punch, and you spun around at the sound of another voice.
“Depulso!” You see Garreth not five feet from you, standing at the entrance to the cage you had been in and pointing toward the trees as well. The green light that had been aimed at Natty fades away and everyone hears a pained grunt, followed by the sound of something slamming against wood, the wood cracking.
“I’m defenceless here,” You mumble, causing Ominis to pull you close and wrap himself around you like a personal shield. You didn’t want that- of course, you’d never want Ominis hurt- so you begin to pull away until you hear Poppy’s soft voice right next to you.
“I have your bag, Y/N.” Ominis finally releases his grip on you, his eyes flying wildly from side to side as if trying to see anything that could hurt the group of you. You take one step closer to Poppy, reaching forward to take the bookbag. “I put your wand in there too. You must’ve dropped it when they nabbed you.”
“Yeah, they petrified me. I dropped my wand, I don’t even know where it rolled to. They didn’t think to look for it until we got to camp. It wasn’t on me so they couldn’t take it.” You immediately flipped open your bag, pushing past the scattered fwooper treats and reaching down the side to pull out your wand from where it rolled to. Sighing in relief, you shoot Poppy a grin. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.”
“Not to rain on this charming parade,” Garreth finally intones, stretching his arms out to either side to herd the three of you closer to the rest of the group. “But this forest is creepy, I hate spiders and there are spiderwebs everywhere, and we just got attacked by a stray poacher. I say we do like what was originally suggested and get out of here. The arguments can wait until we’re in Hogwarts.”
Eliza wandered back over to Natty, helping her up as the two mumbled to each other. Poppy sticks close to your side that wasn’t plastered to Ominis, and Sebastian- walking with blood running down his nose- walks on Ominis’ other side. Garreth sighs and, with a shake of his head, walks lonely between the two formed groups.
Tumblr media
“So what the hell was that, Eliza?”
Your group had only just made it through the Hogwarts gates, not even halfway through the courtyard to the castle before Sebastian finally spoke up. It made sense that he would be the first to break, he never was very patient. But Eliza had been quietly carrying Natty along the path with nary a word, although that only seemed to ramp up the antsiness between the rest of the group. Even Garreth began to lag behind, walking closer to your group than the two women ahead of you.
“What was what?”
You shook your head, aggravated that someone so smart would pretend to be dumb. Ominis tightened his hold on you, halting your movements and turning you to face him. You complied, looking into Ominis’ milky eyes as he keeps his head bowed toward you. He was obviously listening, wanting to know how this would resolve, but it seemed almost like he didn’t want you involved. Was there something more to this than you realized?
“You know damn well what was what,” Sebastian spat out, and you tilted your head in confusion. He could have a temper for sure, but you’ve never heard him sound so nasty.
“I’m sure I don’t know-”
“Like hell,” Sebastian growled, and you almost instinctively moved to calm him down, but you stayed in place with Ominis’ gentle insistence. You turn to see Sebastian taking a step closer to Eliza, who had also stopped. Eliza sat Natty down on the edge of the fountain, turning to sneer back at Sebastian. Garreth had ended his walk sooner, ending up closer to your group than the argument. He had an arm wrapped around Poppy currently, pulling her into his chest- almost like shielding her from the fight. With how she held her hands close to her face, it seemed she needed it. “You told me you would stop.”
“I never said that,” Eliza growled, taking her own step toward Sebastian. “You told me that you thought we should stop. I never agreed with you, I just let you go.”
“Let me go?” Sebastian scoffs, laughing with astonishment. “So you’re telling me all this time? You’ve been practising Unforgivables after everything-”
“Fuck you, Sebastian! You’re the one who left me!”
“I never left you! I tried to be friends!” Sebastian yelled back, anger mixed with something foreign colouring his tone. “You were the one who pushed me away! But I get it now,” He laughs again, the normally jovial sound now tinged with something bitter, and he continues with a quieter voice, “I do, I really get it now. You kept going, you kept up the research.”
Eliza remained quiet, her sneer slowly transforming into a stoic expression. Garreth began walking Poppy slowly toward Hogwarts, and you couldn’t blame them. You’d talk to Poppy later about the whole ordeal. But you stayed, you waited with Ominis. Sebastian was his best friend, and he even seemed to know what this whole argument was about. You also couldn’t help your curiosity.
“After everything that happened,” Sebastian continued, his voice a low growl now, “After having to perform the cruciatus curse on me. I thought you would stop, I thought-”
“You thought wrong,” Eliza interrupted, her voice cruel. It was silent for a moment, crickets chirping in the background. When Eliza opened her mouth once more, ready to spout out some sort of excuse or reasoning, she was interrupted by weak coughing. She spun quickly and rushed to Natty’s side, kneeling down and placing a hand on Natty’s knee.
Natty flinches away violently, scooting away from Eliza on the fountain with wide eyes. You watch in trepidation as Eliza’s shoulders fall, followed by her head.
“Stay away from me,” Natty coughs out, scooting away again before stumbling and falling onto the ground. You take a step forward to help, Ominis’ hands falling away from your hips and letting you. You stop yourself, though, once Eliza stands and takes a step toward her as well. “I didn’t want to believe it. There was so much-” A wracking cough interrupts her sentence, and at this point you rush forward. You help Natty to sit up straight, letting her rest her back against you as you hold her. “It was too loud, out there during the battle. I didn’t hear it. I saw the green flashes but wanted to fool myself into believing it was the poachers.”
“Natty-”
“Every time.” She coughs again and you tighten your hold on her, reaching a hand up to push a stray, thick lock of hair away from her sweaty forehead. “Every time we’ve gone out together, I saw those flashes. That colour. You were doing it every time, weren’t you? Casting Unforgivables like they were any other spell.”
“Yes.” You widened your eyes in surprise, turning quickly and locking eyes with Eliza. She couldn’t seem to meet Natty’s eyes, but she glared into yours like she could will herself to trade places with you. You were surprised at her blatant honesty. Especially knowing how Natty would react to it. Predictably, Natty’s voice was cold as she glared at Eliza.
“You’re worse than them. Worse than the poachers. Worse than the bandits from Uagadou.” Natty begins to push herself up, and you help until she’s fully stood. You watch as pain wracks through her body in waves, the after-effects of Crucio, but you drop your hands away once she’s standing stable. You could tell she needed to do this, needed to show independence and strength when facing someone she used to consider a good friend. The castle grounds were quiet for an extended time before Natty finally huffed, shaking her head. “I’m ashamed to share a house with you. Just stay away from me.”
Natty stomps away, toward the doors that Garreth and Poppy had disappeared through earlier. You stood there frozen, wondering what exactly you inserted yourself into. Turning slowly to face Ominis, you’re taken off guard at how close Eliza was to you. You widened your eyes as she took another two steps closer to you until only a few feet separated the both of you.
“Don’t think this is over,” Eliza harshly whispered toward you, a sneer lighting up her face. “If you hadn’t been stupid and vulnerable then this would’ve never happened.”
“This isn’t their fault, Eliza.” Sebastian’s voice interrupted the harsh words, and you quickly glanced with worried eyes to Sebastian a few paces away, who held his arm out to hold Ominis back. Ominis looked livid, both hands on Sebastian’s arms were squeezing with visible effort, but he remained in place as Sebastian wanted.
“I don’t give a flying fuck,” Eliza spat, reaching a hand out to grasp hold of the front of your robes, pulling you in closer. “Your idiotic actions took Natty away from me. Turned Garreth and Poppy away from me.”
“I think those were your own actions,” You mumbled back, raising your eyebrows. She was scary as hell, but you weren’t to blame for anything. “You were the only one flinging the un-”
You were cut off abruptly as you were pushed to the ground, Eliza pulling her wand and kneeling down on top of you, pressing the tip against your neck. “Shut the fuck up-”
“Y/N!” You look over toward Ominis, watching Sebastian fully holding him back now. He was struggling, Ominis was insistent on breaking free. You couldn’t even smile at him to calm him, so you tried to clear your throat and raise your voice for him to hear.
“Everything’s okay Ominis. It’s fine.” You watched his struggle lessen some, but he still angrily pushed against Sebastian’s arms. “Just a little cuddle session. You can be next.” Eliza’s scoff takes your attention once more, meeting hazardous eyes.
“You’re so pathetic. No wonder I didn’t know you existed until tonight.” She stood up once more, pocketing her wand. “You better stay out of my way, Hufflepuff.”
“Fuck you, Eliza,” Ominis called out, hatred lacing his voice. “Stay the fuck away from them.” He finally broke away from Sebastian- not for lack of trying on Seb’s part- and ran toward you on the ground. Eliza took a few steps back, turning to face all three of you as if realizing her back had been turned against potential threats. Ominis’ hands on you were a welcome treat as he assured himself you were fine, then pulled you up from your laid-out position.
“Seems we have the same idea then, Ominis.” You turned to meet her eyes after those words but were struck short when she wasn’t there. She had disappeared, and you turned questioning eyes toward Sebastian.
“She apparated. We’re alone.” He added on the last part for Ominis’ benefit most likely, and you let yourself finally relax in Ominis’ arms. “I’m sorry I let her come along, Ominis.”
“You didn’t,” He mumbled, pulling you closer to him. You let your head rest on his chest, closing your eyes to hear his heartbeat. “She had everyone else fooled, just like she fooled you in fifth year. But it’s fine now, they’ve seen her true colours.”
You didn’t hear a reply from Sebastian aside from a sigh. It was quiet for a longer time and you opened your eyes to see Sebastian approach slowly and sit cross-legged next to the two of you. Eventually he spoke, keeping his eyes on the stars above. “Perhaps sitting out here isn’t the best idea. Wouldn’t want to get detention.”
“We could spend the detention together, at least.” This was your suggestion, a smirk forming on your face as you stared at Sebastian, resting against Ominis.
“We’re just studying for our Astronomy class, that’s all,” Ominis mumbles, pulling you closer before he mimics Sebastian, raising his face to the sky. You laugh, shaking your head at him. “They look very pretty tonight.”
“You’ve never seen stars before in your life, Ominis,” Sebastian muttered, but you were pleased to hear a return to his jovial tone.
“I’ve been told they’re the same every night.”
“They are,” You affirm, sitting up further to be able to look at his face again. He really did have the prettiest face, his gaunt features highlighted by the half-moon’s light.
“So then if they were pretty two weeks ago, I’m sure they’re still pretty now.”
“Who said they were pretty two weeks ago?” Sebastian asks with a laugh, plucking grass between his fingers before throwing the handful back down and repeating the process.
“Y/N.” Sebastian raises his eyebrows toward you, a slow smirk forming on his face.
“Don’t give me that look, Sallow. We were actually studying for Astronomy that night.”
“Sure you were,” Sebastian mumbled, earning an elbow to his side from Ominis. “Well! With that,” Sebastian throws his hands down onto his knees, a loud slap echoing around the trio. “I’m tired.” That was the only goodbye you received as Sebastian stood and made his way inside. The night was quiet around you, silent aside from the insects buzzing and owls hooting in the distance. You both waited for the sound of the great door closing before speaking.
“So,” You begin, taking in the way the moonlight played against Ominis’ cheekbones. “I should probably get back to my common room at some point.”
You felt his hands tighten around you before he slowly, gently begins to pull you closer. You knew you could easily back away from this if you wanted, this wasn’t a forceful movement at all. But you wanted this, wanted him, and you didn’t care how much this action showed the heart on your sleeve. You gave in, laying against him once more.
“I don’t want to let you go tonight,” Ominis muttered against your hair, dropping his head to curl around you. His voice wavered, full of emotion. “I feel like I almost lost you and I-” He doesn’t continue his sentence, leaving whatever he had meant hanging in the air between you.
“What are you going to do, sneak me into the Slytherin rooms?” You giggle, shaking your head against him. You lifted your gaze to see him, watching a scrunchy type look cross his face.
“Maybe another night, but not tonight. I don’t want to be around those boys- I don’t want to be around anyone else but you tonight.” You breathed in deeply, hoping to calm the butterflies that scurried at those words.
“Then, what are we to do?”
“I know a place.”
