First encounters

Easily my favourite to write would have to be Amy. She's the main of team Sonic that gets written [in depth] at all, and the three of them have such a fun and interesting dynamic that I love getting to play with!

When I say written, I mean having a part of the fic in which the point of view is theirs.

Amy is displayed as someone who is rather chill! She's introduced immediately with a very lighthearted argument between her, Sonic, and Tails, and all around appears to be very sweet and friendly! Within the fic, it mentions that she'd end up helping this stranger in the end no matter what. It's simply the way that she [and Tails, and Sonic] is.

And then time goes on, and in further chapters, she's shown to be able to be cold, secretive, too blunt, good at picking up the hidden meanings behind people's words, and has a complicated set of morals.

It's fun! She's a complicated character that should very clearly be Amy, but beyond that, is more mature and was built into the person she is through a different life than Amy Rose from the Sonic games.

Easily my favourite character to draw is Jewel. She has a cute dress, I like her bug face, and I don't have to deal with cowboy hats of which I loathe drawing. Thumbs up

I read @sh-0-w-1-sh's fic Walking on Gun Shells and it's been stuck in my brain ever since

So here's Shadow and Tails getting up to wanted cowboy shenanigans in a scene from said fic

One day while Sonic is hitching up to ride out of town, Tails runs up to him and asks if he can join him for the trip. He makes the excuse that he wants to get research in for a new invention, but in truth he's just in awe and admiration of Sonic after he saved him from being napped by Eggmans robots and wants to spend time with him. Sonic says sure the more the merrier!

Tails is unsteady on his horse because he doesn't ride very often, nor is he outdoorsy at all. Tails admits that he spends most of his time indoors tinkering and blacksmithing. Sonic asks why he's out here at the ends of the earth if he's more of a city boy, and Tails stammers having a hard time admitting that he was basically run out of civilized society for being a quack and a crackpot. Sonic interrupts his stumbling answer and just says "oh well, none of my business, no worries ^^ "

The first day Tails struggles a lot with keeping pace and the physical demands of hitting the ol' dusty trail. Sonic is patient and helpful with him the whole time but Tails starts feeling self conscious about it. Finally once sun sets they set up camp for the night and Tails is a bit of a wreck with tangled up fur and disheveled clothes. He apologizes for being a load and making Sonic burn so much daylight, but Sonic just says it's not a big deal he isn't exactly heading for any particular destination anyway.

Tails perks up in confusion "you're not heading for a ranch for another cattle drive?"

"Naw, next one isn't until next month."

"Then... Why aren't you staying in town until then?"

Sonic is laid back on a sleeping bag, hasn't even set up a tent for himself. Arms behind his head and just looking up at the sky. Tails lingers for a bit waiting for an answer, then slowly starts looking up to the sky following Sonic's gaze.

It's beautiful. Tails is transfixed. In the cities it's impossible to see much of the night sky, and in Town he's always inside tinkering away into the midnight hours. This is the first time he's ever properly seen the untainted majesty of the sky.

He lays on his back as well and the two just quietly marvel at the view until the embers of the campfire burn out. The twinkling stars reflecting in Tails' eyes in the darkness. He doesn't notice when he falls asleep.

come on wildbrain. TWO multiverses??? (cross-fandom context: sonic prime and ninjago are produced by the same studio. ninjago just revealed it’s latest season is ALSO about multiverse stuff. shenanigans abound.)

There's two ships within the au -- anything else that happens in fic 2 or 3 is whoever I accidentally give chemistry to

Both are a little bit of a slowburn- whispangle is real in the au, but you won't be able to tell for like. until the 3rd fic. jewelamy is also real! That one was an accident, I didn't mean for them to have chemistry, it just happened while I was writing out the draft so by the 14th chapter I just went oh. okay. cool. This is happening now.

Nobody else is really in a romantic relationship. Cowboy au is more about the friends we made along the way.
