If anyone struggles with Metal Sonic in acts like Future Angel Island and Wasteland (Forgot what it calls), use a fire shield or activate the star move on him specifically if you're playing as Knuckles, Shadow or Silver (Metal Sonic mimics whoever you play as)

If Silver activates his ESP to you, then you have to sit back and wait for it to be gone or do the reversal move (I remembered I deciphered his ESP, when you press your right then you pressed the left arrow)

If Knux activates his Knuckles Slam, prepare some fire shields to prevent yourself getting stunned

As they bond, their feelings deepen as they come to understand each other a little better, but at the same time, the plan Eggman cooked up is ruining their social lives as a pair of robots made to look identical to the hedgehogs are wreaking havoc in their name… and are programmed to be in love. Very angsty but also very passionate.

2. Beyond a Promise by but_why_not

Synopsis: After Shadow helped Sonic to stop the Eclipse Cannon from destroying Earth and disappears, Sonic can’t stop thinking about him, wondering if he survived and if he was alone. Then he discovers that not only is Shadow still alive, but he tracked Sonic down and has been watching his family since the event, living in Sonic’s old cave in the Green Hills woods. Sonic starts building a friendship with him in secret as tension builds with GUN post-moon destruction, and Sonic and Shadow are faced with the same GUN operatives that held Shadow captive all his life while also being separated from their family. Mostly fluffy but very story driven.

5. Coming Home by nottheweirdest

Synopsis: Shadow hasn’t spoken to Sonic in years, not since confessing his feelings and getting rejected. Now Sonic is getting married in a few days, and Shadow got the invitation and decides to go with the encouragement from Rouge, who seems to think Sonic actually returns Shadow’s feelings and shouldn’t marry Amy. Angsty but ultimately has a happy ending

6. Wolfboy by Trenchcoatgecko

Synopsis: Shadow, the notorious and world-famous werewolf hunter, is in town for a hit based on a tip he got for a blue werewolf for a bounty. But as he conducts his investigation trying to track the wolf, he discovers that the townspeople don’t fear him at all— rather, they talk of him like they want to protect him. In the meantime, a friendly (and devilishly handsome) local named Sonic has been more than welcoming to Shadow, and as they strike up a friendship it becomes pretty clear that Sonic is the very wolf the town is trying so hard to protect, and Shadow wonders if their relationship was built on Sonic’s last desperate attempt to save his own life or something real, and Sonic will have to find out if he was right about Shadow, and he really does have a sweet heart. Fluff and also angst

7. Clean Slate by nottheweirdest

Synopsis: Sonic lost his memory in a battle and he’s stuck with Shadow trying to get back to friends he can’t even remember. But something his body seems to remember is the way it feels about Shadow… which makes things complicated as they get heated during isolation. Fun forbidden love and unintentional cheating vibes, very flirty

8. Silly Hats and Party Favors by Nebrasska

Rating: 10000/10

Takes place: All Sonic universes

Synopsis: Shadow crashes his beloved motorcycle and Rouge strikes a cheeky deal with him to get it back— attend five parties with her so she can get closer to Knuckles. Since the deal is a little too sweet not to take, Shadow finds himself going along with it, but every party he manages to find himself in some unwanted alone time with his annoying rival, Sonic. Enemies to friends to lovers with amazingly accurate characterizations and some of the best writing style I’ve seen, definitely a personal favorite to reread

Happy Valentine's, I wrote a short Sonadow!! 💙🖤🦔

As he ran across the hill, Sonic's head turned this and that way in search of familiar black and red quills; he spotted his target at the very top of the incline. He beamed, heart beating faster.

Sonic was about to do something very dangerous.

Give Shadow a gift.

"Hey Shads!!" he zipped right up to his side, hands hidden behind his back. "Phew, nice view from up here!"

Illuminated by the warm rays of the sunset with a backdrop of grassy plains and crystaline lake, arms crossed and eyes half lidded, Shadow was a postcard picture of serene exasperation.

He gave Sonic an up and down look--suspicious, clearly--before turning back to the landscape, "It's okay."

"Me, or the view?" he couldn't help teasing, and it earned him an eye roll.

"You may draw your own conclusions, Hedgehog,"

"I think," Sonic shimmied closer, "you're happy to see meeee," a little closer, "and Igotyousomething!!"

In one swift movement, he shoved the flowers he'd been hiding behind his back against Shadow's chest; with the same impulse, while Shadow was distracted, fumbling with the bouquet, he planted a noisy kiss against his muzzle.

"Happy Valentine's day!" he stepped back, grinning at the befuddled look on Shadow's face--wide eyes, mouth a little agape.

And before Shadow had time to respond, Sonic zoomed away down the hill. His face was burning but he was giggling in delight: mission complete! Now to wait--

A flash of light blinked in his periphery and Sonic got tackled to the ground. He and his assailant rolled on the ground, down the incline, grass and dirt collecting in their quills.

At the bottom, Shadow pinned Sonic down to the ground. His muzzle was flushed, his brow furrowed, eyes bright and searing. The five or six flowers he'd picked and hastily arranged in a bouquet were tucked between Shadow's quills (for safekeeping?) and still mostly intact.

"Bold move," Shadow said, "Thought you could get away with it?"

"I thought I'd get to run a liiittle farther before you caught up," Sonic laughed, "Maybe find a nice spot for a date."

"Ridiculous."

"So?" Sonic tipped his head back, smirking at his rival, "What's it gonna be?"

"Hmph," and Shadow finally smiled, cradling the back of Sonic's neck, "I would be remiss not to return the gesture."

When Shadow bent down to crash their lips together, he smelled of grass and daisies.

Okay I just need to say that I knew I'd like this Tailstube as soon as I saw the thumbnail (after all, I am a Sonadails enjoyer, and Tails is literally in the middle of them in the thumbnail)

But I think probably something that stood out the most to me when I watched it was just

The hints that Shadow and Tails have a relationship outside of Sonic??

The first thing that tipped me off to this was that not only did Tails convince Shadow to join in on his show, he also convinced him to stick around to its natural end?? You know, Shadow. The guy you can't force to do anything and frequently will just dip if he's bored or doesn't want to be there. But even while Sonic was annoying him and he made it clear he wanted the "interview" over with, he still never made a move to chaos control out of there because of any of this.

And the second thing that tipped me off was this:

When Shadow is both confused and annoyed at Sonic, he chooses to complain to Tails about Sonic. And so Tails steps in to try to "explain" what Sonic meant by what he said (i.e he told Shadow something much nicer in the interest of getting them to be on better terms). The fact that he looks to Tails to complain to about Tails' own best friend and possibly even to explain that which he does not understand in a social context tells me just how highly he regards Tails. And since both Shadow and Sonic are being childish here, it's amusing to see Tails regarded as something closer to a trusted figure with more power here.

From an objective analysis standpoint, of course this means they have their own friendship. And this is a prospect I enjoy (The idea that Tails and Shadow are good friends)! It actually means a lot to me that Tails could form a frienship or bond with Shadow outside of the context of Sonic (in terms of who initiates it and for what reason it's initiated).

But, my friends, from a biased standpoint, I'm shipping trash. And to me this Tailstube was a fun show for Sonadails fans. Honestly, Tails staging this episode to get Sonic and Shadow to talk and "bury the hatchet", as well as how he acts during the show, read a lot to me personally like a guy trying to get his two boyfriends (who happen to be rivals) to get on better terms, if not just tolerate each other. I quite like the idea of Tails dating both of these idiots and just trying to get them to play nice when they're all together (although frankly I think the ideal scenario for Tails in my biased reading is that Sonic and Shadow get together as well).

This is also not to mention the dynamics showcased here! Sonic and Tails as best friends, with Sonic assuming that he and Tails were gonna talk shit about Shadow behind his back, and Tails trying to get him to play nicer. Shadow and Tails as friends, with Tails trying to convince him why he and Sonic are in the perfect position to become friends and helping him out socially, and with Shadow choosing to do something he doesn't want to because of Tails, as well as looking to Tails to complain to when Sonic is annoying him or when he doesn't understand something. And then there's Sonic and Shadow. In short, their relationship in this episode reminded me a lot of the dynamic I plotted out for that Sonadow post I wrote up where the two just beat the crap out of each other. In slightly longer terms, I find interesting how Mr. Flynn maintained Sonic and Shadow's dynamic during SA2 (with Sonic bothering Shadow and trying to fight him, while Shadow is just annoyed that Sonic won't leave him alone) while also showing the audience that they are rivals. And in longer terms...Sonic was clearly seeking a fight during this episode. And the facial expression, the mocking, his tone of voice, it doesn’t really matter whether or not he actually dislikes Shadow and believes they could never be friends. He's trying to annoy Shadow and goad him into a fight because he wants to fight Shadow so badly it makes him look stupid. And we can tell by how he expresses his confusion to Tails that Shadow is just not getting this. To him Sonic is just being annoying and confusing. Sonic is targeting him specifically, and Shadow shoots back with his own words. And so it's also pointed that Shadow reciprocates/actually decides to fight Sonic when Sonic specifically challenges him. He doesn't respond to Sonic trying to goad him on, but when Sonic challenges him specifically he's much more interested in opposing him.

Anyways guys I love Shadow and Tails having a soft on the side relationship while Sonic flirts by convincing Shadow to fight him somehow😂💖

Remember the episode “Two Good To Be True”? How there’s an alternate universe where Knuckles and Sonic are sort of switched, Dave’s a good, smart guy, and Eggman’s color is actually green? I decided to make some headcanons and ideas for it!

To be honest, this is partially for the 6 people who always like these kinds of posts of mine, which I appreciate. You guys are sweet!

•Sonic is dumb, sure, but he’s surprisingly knowledgeable about first aid, a bit of cooking, and the basics of wilderness survival. He mostly knows it because he looks after Tails.

•This Knuckles lives in a treehouse. I can’t explain why, I just think it’d be fitting.

•Both Sonic and Tails live in a house built inside a cave, and Sonic has a hammock inside and outside.

•Dave does his best to make sure Meh Burger’s food isn’t a health hazard and works on his inventions in his spare time.

•Dave’s mother disapproves of him being a hero instead of a villain and they’ve fought about it before. The fights are slowly getting more frequent. Dave is considering the possibility of moving out, and he’s told Knuckles and Amy about this. They both plan to support their friend every step of the way, whatever he chooses.

•Dave tries to insist that his friends don’t have to pay, but knowing how bad the pay sometimes is for him, the group will sometimes put money in the tip jar or on the table and run. Basically the good version of eating and leaving without paying. (Sonic: *whispering* Quick, Tails! While he’s not looking! / Tails: *puts a ten dollar bill in the tip jar* / Sonic: *picks him up and runs* Come on!) I like to think that they were both stifling some giggles, and when Sonic runs, Tails lets it out and it’s this really wholesome scene.

•Tails is obsessed with airplanes. He likes all of Dave’s inventions, but airplanes hold a special place in his heart. Sonic takes him to the library every week to either reread the books he’s already read about them or check out any new ones.

•Knuckles grew up on Bygone Island.

•Tails and Sonic both washed up on the shore one day. (It was a nightmare when they woke up because they both thought they were in danger and panicked.)

•Knuckles looks down on Sonic a little, and not in an ill-intended way?? He just makes comments sometimes. For example, what he said in the beginning of Two Good To Be True: “Now, if you’ll excuse me, the grownups have a job to do.”

•This Sonic simply has to keep at least some of his sass, okay? I really liked that part of his character.

•Tails sometimes figures out the flaws in Dave’s inventions. He’s crazy smart for his age, and Sonic’s proud of him for it.

•Sonic, like Original Boom Knuckles, does have his moments where he says something sensible and smart. Example— Knuckles: Wow, Sonic! I expected you to have more trouble with leg exercises. / Sonic: Knuckles, I run, hit, and kick at the speed of sound. If my legs weren’t strong, they’d be broken to the point where they might as well be amputated a long time ago. / Knuckles: …You make a fair point.

•Instead of Shadow, the “rival” in the story is Rouge. The reason is largely unknown, but my guess is because she keeps stealing stuff. (I wonder when they’ll notice the pattern of the things she’s stealing…)

•Yes, like in the episode, it seems pretty likely that Amy x Knuckles will be a thing. And honestly, I can see them being a pretty healthy relationship. Don’t get me wrong, Rouge and Knuckles being shipped in this AU would be interesting, but I think the main one is going to be Knuckles and Amy.

•Knuckles has Phasmophobia, and there’s definitely a Halloween episode or story of him trying to face this fear. Sonic dresses up as a ghost to try to help, but the costume wasn’t convincing enough to instill any true terror.

•Knuckles is unfortunately a “hit first, ask later” when someone’s causing trouble. Sonic is the opposite, he tries to reason and ask the trouble maker about their motives, usually by disguising it as a joke or jab at the enemy.

•As for Shadow… Well, I guess you guys would have to wait and see, huh?

Movie Amy rider AU

I’m not sure what the trope is called, but basically, that racing trope when a new guy arrives in a new town, encounters a rival racing gang, they meet a cute girl who also happens to be a part of the racing gang, they train to beat their rival (to prove something or to win something), mentor or girl teaches them some tips and tricks to help them win in the end, then they win the race and win the girl heart.

Context:

(This is if she doesn’t show up enough third movie and they adapt other games to introduce her)

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles arrive on a different planet on a new adventure. They somehow get wrapped up in an extreme gear racing tournament where the stakes are high (either because of a new villain or Eggman’s evil ploy). To prevent the prize from landing in the wrong hands, the gang has to win the race but there’s only one problem… None of them have experience with extreme gear.

Fortunately, for them, a friendly competitor, Amy Rose, is kind enough to offer her assistance. Sonic is not only happy for the help, but He’s also excited to meet another fellow hedgehog that wasn’t trying to kill him (plus she’s super cute). Unfortunately for Sonic (…and the gang) Amy’s aid is limited by her teammates, a rival extreme gear team, the Babylon rogues who are dead set on winning the tournament by any means necessary.

Bonus context:

Amy and Jet are not a thing, but it doesn’t stop Jet from giving Sonic the idea just to get under his skin. Fortunately for Sonic, Amy is pretty quick to clear that up.

The Babylon rogues use Amy’s quills to power their extreme gears, giving them more durability and speed.

Amy and the Babylon rogues have a genuine bond with Amy they won’t admit it in front of Amy

When Amy eventually leaves the team to join Sonic in the game, the Babylon rogues are a bit salty, but they generally do miss her when she’s gone (They also miss her cooking).

Mini Fanfic #1216: Small Beach Crush (Sonic X SSBU)

4:42 p.m. at the Smash Local Beach..........

A race has been going on in the bright, sunny day at the Smash Beach, that specializes in Extreme Gears founded and provided by the Babylon Rogue Inc.

The two racers, Sonic The Hedgehog and Jet the Hawk, appear to neck to neck towards the Finish Line, in the last lap.....That is until the final racer swoops in outta nowhere, with more vigorous speed, sweeping both of his competition off their boards and onto the sandy ground, much to their surprise.

The crowd begins to roar in applause the very moment he crossed that Finish Line before sticking a gnarly, perfect landing on the ground. It wasn't long before a Shy Guy announcer runs in to announce the winner helping him holding his own arm up, which just so happens to be...I...

Announcer: The Winner of the 5-Lap Riders Prix.....FUUUUNKY KOOOOOOONG!!!

Sonic: (Groans a Bit While Getting Himself Back on his Feet) Darn...... The folks weren't kidding when they say he's the Best Extreme Gear rider of this part of town.

Jet: (Sighs While Getting Up From the Ground as Well) The guy's a natural born surfer. He can make even the most uncontrollable board a cakewalk to ride on.

Sonic: (Begins to Stretch his Back Forward Befire Stretching his Arm Up Next) Welp! If that's the case, I'm gonna that means I gotta to work a little harder next time. Can't afford to be in 2nd Place forever, you know?

Jet: (Scoffs While Rolling his Eyes) More like 3rd Place...

Sonic: (Turns to Jet With a Raised Eyebrow) Pardon?

Jet: You heard me! 3rd! The place- (Points at Sonic) YOU are currently in!

Sonic: Oh get real. (Starts Butting Heads with Jet) I clearly crossed that line before you could even get close to me!

Jet: Big talk for a guy who's tip of his board Isa millimeter shorter than mines!

Sonic: Oh, so we're measuring boards now?

Jet: If it proves that I'm better than you, why the hell not at this point?

The rivals turns to see the Certified Moms giving both of them their collective Motherly Glares in the mid.

Peach: This is a place for fun and relaxation.

Moms: NO. FIGHTING!

Sonic: (Sighs in Defeat Along with Jet) Yes, ma'ams......

Jet: Won't happen again.....(Turns to Sonic) Forgot how scary your moms are..........

Sonic: (Shrugs) They gotta take their jobs seriously somehow....

The duo turns to see the winner of their race, Funky Kong, walk over to them along with the crowd, with a bright, chill smile on his face.

Funky: No need to fuss n' fight now. You both did great out there. Actually had me to workin' up a sweat just to keep up.

Sonic: (Smiles Softly at Funky) Thanks, man. Congratulations on the win.

Jet: Yeah, congrats. But uh...('Clears Throat') Who would you say is the fastest between the two of us here, hm?

Sonic: (Rolls his Eyes at Jet) Could you not waste his time asking that dumb question? The answer's obviously me.

Jet: (Glares at Sonic) Lies! It's me and everyone out here knows it.

Sonic: Yeah, keep telling yourself that you-

Funky: (Breaks Up the Potential Fighting Between Hedgehog and Bird) Hey-Hey-Hey! No more of that now. We're a the fastest here in this wicked beach time. (Holds Both Sonic and Jet's Hands Up) AM I RIGHT, PEOPLE!?

Tails: (Watches the Crowd in the Distance With Amy and Coco Sitting Next to Him) Never thought I'd see the day someone would actually out speed Sonic in anything, but...here we are.

Amy: (Sighs Dreamingly at her Man) He may have lost the race, but he'll always be The Fastest, Most Handsomest Thing in my eyes and heart~ (Takes a Look at the Time on her Phone) What is taking Wave so long to get here? (Starts Pouting a Bit) If her boss starts picking fights with Sonic again, there's gonna be heck to pay!

Coco: You know Wave: Have to make extra sure her work is completely done before she could do anything else. (Notices Something) Ooh, speaking of which- (Points Tails and Amy to Their Swallow Friend Walking in the Distance) There she is right now. (Raises an Eyebrow in Confusion) Looking a lot more girlier than usual......

Tails: Girlier?- (Eyes Widened at the Sudden Realization) Wait s second! Is she looking pretty for someone?

Amy: (Happily Clasps her Hands Together as Her Eyes Starts to Sparkle) A secret admirer perhaps?~

Wave: (Playfully Scoffs) Please. There's a lot of things that would drive me up the wall. But winning a race against Jet is definitely not one of them.

Funky: Good, good. So, now that you're out and about, what you plan on doing from here on out?

Wave turns around to see Amy giggling softly and Coco and Tails waving at her with teasing grins on each of their faces before letting out an annoyed sigh and turning back to Funky.

Wave: I have a couple of twer-I mean-('Sigh') Friends I gotta to hang out with.

Funky: (Smiles Brightly) Nice! Friends are the one thing that could help build up your character after all, especially in an awesome place like this!

Wave: (Rolls her Eyes a Bit in Annoyance) To an egregious sense maybe.....(Puts on a Small Smile on her Face) Catch you later then?

Funky: (Happily Nodded) Sure thing. Go out and enjoy yourself, Wave! You've earned it after all the work you've done.

Wave: ('Sighs in Defeat') Okay, so maybe I do have a tiny bit of mushy feelings for him these days. We've been working together on a few business projects as of late. Didn't care for him at first glance, but the more days we work, the....(Starts Blushing a Bit) More I started to enjoy his company a bit. Tails: (Gives Amy an Uncertain Look on his Face) You sure you want our help on this? We're not really that knowledgeable when it comes to anything romance related.

Amy: Yeah, but you guys know Wave way better than I do these days, so you're crucial for this operation. (Gives Tails the Sad Puppy Dog Look) Plus, I really want us to spend more time together these days~ I miss you-

Sonadowtober Prompt 20+22: Adrenaline & Fearless

Sonic's reckless, to the knowledge of everyone that has ever met him. Shadow knows it the most of all

How stupid is he?

That’s a question Shadow asks a lot about Sonic. Unironically. He’s somehow so idiotically reckless in his actions yet at the same time, things somehow always work out. He’s either so dumb he’s smart, so smart he’s dumb, or just insanely lucky.

Or perhaps a mixture of all of them.

Case in point, right now. 

“Sonic!”

Said hedgehog paid Shadow no mind, leaping fearlessly from building to building— if they could even be called buildings anymore, the world around them falling to pieces as cyberspace fails and everything reverts to a white void. A white void that they could very easily fall into.

Maneuvering about this place and looking for the exit at the same time was hard enough with cooperation. But Sonic, being the reckless idiot he was, decided it’d be a good idea to run off to seek thrill rather than stick together. How he managed to get so far without getting hit was beyond Shadow. Was he even looking at where he’s going…?

A giant chunk of something featureless nearly clocks Shadow in the head, stopping his chase. In his haste to dodge, he loses sight of his target. 

Deja vu hits him in the worst way as he frantically scans his surroundings, eyes darting among floating bits and pieces of things now unrecognizable. It reminded him of the void between shatterspaces that he’d gotten trapped in, that he’d traveled through fruitlessly as he struggled to enter portals, that he’d raced through in one last bid to save that damn hedgehog because he could not live in a world without that smile. 

Shadow shook the memories off and snarled. He needed to find that idiot and get out of here, preferably before he got himself hurt, or worse.

Adrenaline rushed through his veins as he launched himself off the platform he stood on, curling into a spin dash and ricocheting off obstacles like he was in a giant game of pinball. 

Curse that idiot.

“Sonic!”

That was the last thing Sonic heard before he lost sight of Shadow. For a black-and-red hedgehog, he was sure difficult to spot in a white void.

It wasn’t that he was worried, no. Shadow could handle himself perfectly fine, perhaps even better than Sonic could— not that he would ever say that to the other’s face. The hero had no doubt that Shadow could find his own way out of this mess if it came to it. It… was more an unspoken obligation to make sure the other was okay.

At least this was fun! The broken cyberspace gave way to plenty of new challenges. Sonic flipped off of a floating… platform? Close enough. He flipped off of a floating platform, twisting midair and grabbing onto an upside-down rail, whooping as he slid down it like a zipline.

His heart pumped wildly and he barked out a laugh in excitement, taking the trip as an opportunity to look for either Shadow or a portal out of this crumbling place. But not only did he see nothing, he also didn’t realize the rail had tapered off until he was suddenly grasping at nothing, falling through the emptiness… well, almost emptiness. 

“Umph—!” Sonic gasped as he smashed face-first into… he didn’t know what. He does know that the force of his impact caused it to tip, flipping around and dumping him back into a fall. “Whoa— ACK!”

Safe.

“Idiot.” his savior spat, and if Sonic didn’t know him so well, he would’ve thought the underlying tone to be contempt. But if it were contempt that Shadow felt, he wouldn’t be princess carrying his so-called rival.

“Hey Shads! Sorry I lost ya back there!”

Shadow rolled his eyes. “Do you not have an ounce of self preservation in your body? Or even fear? It’d do you good.”

“Nah,” Sonic smirked. “Besides, what’s the point of that stuff when you can have fun instead?”

“Not dying.”

“...Eh. I suppose you got a point. But I have you to help me do that!”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“What do you think?” Sonic gestured at his position cradled in the other’s arms. “You know I can stand by myself right?”

Shadow flushes a bright red, embarrassment hidden poorly with a growl. “Do you want me to drop you?”

Yet he doesn’t let go. Perhaps he holds Sonic even tighter. Whatever the case, the hero hooks his arms around Shadow and flashes a cheeky grin. “You wouldn’t. I know you wouldn’t. Portal’s behind you by the way!”

“Damn you.” But there’s no real malice to his voice as he turns around, rocket skates firing as they blast toward their exit.

And if it’s reminiscent of a previous time, when risks were higher and Sonic’s implied words had been put to the test, neither hedgehog mentions it. For after all, they know how the story ends.

(650~ words about exploding motherships and being in pain)

Nine's vision swam with heady energy as he turned towards the mothership that blotted out the Grim's skies. His methodical anger now blazed into animalistic rage at the sight of it in his path, smoking cannons still aimed at where Grim Big once stood.

He was getting tired of this.

An ugly, pained yowl involuntarily tore from his throat as his tails drew in the exhilarating power of the Paradox Prism. He knew eyes had been drawn towards him by the cry but he paid them no mind. Energy buzzed throughout his body, rattling his bones, frying his nerves, tails spasming and curling as they strained to diffuse the power up his spine-

They had shocked him.

His mind would go blank and tails slack as the one hundred and fifty thousand volts shorted out both his thoughts and myoelectric sensors embedded deep into his central nervous system.

A weapon of that caliber could disarm anyone.

Two would be aimed at his head at all times.

Shaky growls rumbled in his chest as he rose through the air, twin tails holding him steady despite it all.

The burnt fur smell that accompanied the shocks would snap him out of his momentary stupor and the pain gave him something to latch onto. Some 'geniuses' those doctors were. Trying to use the brain they were intent on frying.

Burning energy pooled in his abdomen and Nine winced, holding steel claws over what felt like his body burning a hole in itself. He convulsed and let out another strangled cry.

For a moment the power cooled. Sonic's words pierced the ringing in his ears but he couldn't understand any of them. Something nagged in the back of his mind. Nine greedily gulped in air as his dazed mind struggled to catch up with what was happening. The Grim was trying to tell him something. Feverishly glancing around, Nine stared at the flickering dome he worked so hard to upkeep. Between each flicker he could see the tears across the shatterverse. They would swallow the Grim whole.

The Council had used him.

Of course they had. Nine's technical prowess rivaled their own. But hehad let his guard down. Letting them get their hairless paws onto the Shatterdrive had been a terrible mistake. This was all their fault. Even when they were using him for their own gain, they wouldn't listen. He could've fixed all of this by now.

But Sonic had led them here.

Worked with them.

What a fool.

Fangs chattering against each other, Nine redirected all the energy back towards his tails. He curled in on himself as the painful yet comforting strength of the Prism drained from his limbs.

Nine had to rebuild the Grim and that was not going to happen with the Chaos Council in his way. Sonic would come to him eventually, he knew of it. But the Council was betting on that as well. Once Sonic is out of the picture everyone will fall apart and they'll snatch the Prism for themselves.

But Nine wasn't going to let that happen. While the pounding in his head waned, he reined in his frenzied rage. An unfocused blast could wipe out everyone, including himself, in one fell swoop. With icy restraint that clashed against the jittering tendons in his hands he narrowed the scope of the energy, eyes flitting up to stare down the Mothership. It would just be Mr. Dr. Eggman in there.

The one who started all of this.

His grasp on the energy slipped, explosive pain tore through his spine as the energy shot from his tails with a deafening boom. Nine watched with a mix of horror and amazement as the beam struck the Mothership. All of that had been inside of him? The explosion that followed sent a wave of giddiness.

That was all short lived as exhaustion crashed over him. He fell back onto the tower, trembling tails falling to his side even as white hot energy still gathered at the tips. Searing agony scrambled his head and his breathing turned into ragged growls.

This power was going to tear him apart.

Shatter Me, Entry 5: Shatter Me - Sonic X Shadow Generations

Shadow's crimson eyes widened, their colour reflecting that of the sky, which was covered in dark clouds, thunder rumbling and lightning glowing in an eerie blood red light. Black and red alien-like creatures appeared from the clouds, dropping all over the city that Shadow had been observing earlier, causing carnage and destruction in their wake. Shadow could only stare in shock in disbelief as the realization of not only where he was, but also what was going on, hit him.

''Impossible! The Black Arms were supposed to be extinct!''

Somehow, he found himself back at Westopolis during the siege the Black Arms aliens laid upon it, but he didn't understand how this was possible. He knew that the Black Arms were gone, having not only personally defeated Black Doom as Super Shadow, but also annihilated the Black Comet via the Eclipse Cannon. Despite not acknowledging himself as such, he was the sole survivor of the Black Arms race, being a hybrid who had Black Arms DNA imbued in his person.

Nevertheless, having his memories fully restored and having resolved to protect the world in his own way, Shadow decided to put a stop to this invasion. It didn't matter to him whether this was some kind of illusion or if he had traveled to the past, he was not going to let Black Doom, or anyone for that matter, manipulate him again. Having made his decision, he skated off towards the city, fighting off any of the aliens that got into his way.

If the Black Arms are here, then Black Doom should also be close.

Shadow blasted a Black Warrior with a well-aimed Chaos Spear, continuing his chase through Westopolis, looking around for Black Doom, as he suspected that his supposed ''father'' might appear eventually and demand that he finds the Chaos Emeralds. However, something that he took note of was the fact that the streets seemed to be almost empty. There were no civilians running away nor G.U.N. soldiers fighting back against the invasion, keeping Shadow wondering. He was suddenly blinded by a flash of light, placing his arm over his eyes to shield them, and to his shock, he found himself skating through the Space Colony ARK, devoid of all life aside from one entity that emerged from a red portal.

''You!''

Before Shadow was a black and dark purple starfish-like creature with six black-tipped squamous probes and a brutally large red-orange eye in its center. Emerging from its eye and moving along its limbs, it had six blood-red lines. The dark hedgehog furrowed a brow, gritting his teeth as he glared daggers at what he came to knew as Doom's Eye.

''You are late, Shadow… We have returned to take over this pathetic planet you call home! Its annihilation is near! It is time to embrace the dawn of your demise and despair!''

To Shadow's shock, the space station around him started to break apart, with reality warping in itself, turning into a spiral-like landscape. Shadow turned his attention back to Doom's Eye, who was now escaping through the tunnel and sped up, determined not to let it get away. However, the ground below him gave away, and a kaleidoscope of buildings emerged instead. It was as if the world was falling apart and trying to rebuild itself again. He saw Doom's Eye flying past him, stopping for a moment as if to taunt him, before disappearing once again as Shadow fell back into a reality that was either the past or his own memories; he didn't know.

''Shadow!''

Shadow felt someone grabbing him by the wrist, turning his attention upwards and seeing Sonic holding his arm. The azure hedgehog was just as stunned to see the environment around them becoming more and more twisted, but nevertheless happy to see his rival.

''Brace yourself!'' Sonic exclaimed, suddenly throwing Shadow towards a nearby skyscraper, with the dark hedgehog landing on top of it. Sonic then used his homing attack to zero in on the skyscraper, skidding to a halt once he landed safely. Both hedgehogs exchanged glances, before looking back at their surroundings, which were a twisted reflection of the reality they knew.

''Sonic, what is going on? The Black Arms…'' Shadow trailed off when he suddenly spotted another newcomer to their little reunion – a light blue hedgehog wearing red shoes and carrying himself with a swagger Shadow had already seen in one other person. His eyes darted from Sonic's younger self towards the older one, who just gave him a confident smirk.

''It's a bit of a long story involving saving the world again… But, do you think you can handle yourself here?'' Sonic asked. Shadow gazed back at the warped image of Westopolis that was once again invaded by the Black Arms, before turning his attention back to Sonic, responding in an equally confident manner.

''Of course I can. I'll take care of this.''

I think in order for Silver to come off as socially awkward and not just socially blind, he'd have to do something that goes against his usual character, like keeping a secret or having to lie. He doesn't exactly do either for whatever reason and blunt truth and honesty is huge parts of his personality so having to do the opposite might trip him up.

I don't think him keeping that Sonic was the Ibis Trigger from Amy counts as a lie or secret since it's more of a half truth. Kinda a 'not saying Bruce Wayne IS Batman, just saying you'd never see them in the same room togther' type deal

Those are good points: I think Silver wouldn't be good at lying if he had to come up with something on the fly (as stated by a Sonic Channel post as well iirc), perhaps unless he got specific instructions about what to say. But I find it hard to place him in a scenario wherein he would see the necessity of lying, if that makes sense. Silver always speaks the truth and he's a very honest guy, and he acts according to that. So in what scenario would he himself come up with the idea that deceit is the way to go? He's certainly not always 100% clear, as seen in the Rivals games: e.g. Shadow in R2 asks him why he's in the haunted mansion and Silver responds that he's "Just looking for something, that's all." He is, he's looking for the secret room with the Chao, but he's not saying it outright. Thus Silver does seem to know that there's situations in which being vague is a good choice, but he's not lying outright about what's going on either. So I'm very curious what a logical tipping point would be wherein Silver deems lying more worthwhile than being either honest or vague!

Though, with Amy, I would say Silver didn't really deliberately keep things from her to deceive her: because he didn't know the Iblis Trigger is named Sonic. Mephiles never told him that; all Silver knows is that the Iblis Trigger is a blue hedgehog. Meanwhile, to the best of my knowledge Amy never tells him what Sonic looks like, just that she's looking for some rando named Sonic whom she mistook Silver for. Silver didn't mention he was looking for a blue hedgehog (he just talks about "the guy"), but Amy did not either; thus both Silver and Amy were unaware of the fact Sonic and the Iblis Trigger are the same person.

So overall, I kinda just wonder what would push Silver to the point of outright lying. Though, maybe he doesn't even try because he knows he'll be very bad at it, haha!

[Review] Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (PS5)

Jet Set Radio Future 2 is here, and it's all I ever wanted.

When Team Reptile made Lethal League and—more precisely—its sequel, they did an excellent job capturing the feel and aesthetic of Sega's Jet Set Radio games in a new genre. Now they've only gone and bloody done it - made an actual Jet Set Radio homage game, and it's an absolute stunner! Specifically, this is a pitch-perfect pastiche of Jet Set Radio Future, acting as a sequel to the 2002 classic in all but name, and since that particular instalment is a personal favourite of mine, I couldn't be happier.

BRC seems to deeply understand what was great about JSRF and then faithfully and lovingly recreates it, with some new ideas and refinements to boot. In case you need catching up, it's a sort of urban street punk adventure: you get around, grind, and trick on inline skates, tag graffiti all over, contest with rival gangs, and avoid the overzealous police force. The world is colourful and detailed but a bit low-poly with a cel-shaded filter, and levels are set up as huge skatepark playgrounds. All the while a soundtrack of fresh beats including hip-hop, house, and electropop accompanies you.

In BRC the structure of story-related tasks broken up by exploration returns, the levels full of collectibles to give you new colour schemes, music tracks, graffiti designs, etc. as well as just setpieces to "platform" around. A fast-travel system helps you get between areas, some of which replay the hits of JSRF while others explore new territory like a mall complex or industrial oil rig; the setting of New Amsterdam nods to the developer's Dutch origin but in practice it feels like it would easily fit in Tokyo-to (disclaimer, I have never visited The Netherlands). In addition to skates you have skateboards and BMX, each one having slightly different manoeuvrability plus the chance to open certain doors in the game world: for example, a skateboard can trick on fire hydrants to get elevated to a handful of secret areas. This gives more of a reason to have different ones on hand but can feel like an arbitrary passkey check.

Movement is aided by the new boost pack mechanic, which gives you an enormously useful air-dash. A boost meter gives you some speed but can also freshen up trick combos and extend your manual, while it's refilled by tricking (like in Sonic Rush), so doing these cool lines and combos feeds back into movement in a satisfying way. Cans have been done away with entirely so you can tag at any time without worry, and graffiti minigames have actually been brought back from the original JSR, except here they're super quick and snappy, and your inputs determine which of your unlocked tags goes up which keeps the visuals fresh.

A handy new feature is the flip-phone menu (reminiscent of The Arcane Kids' vaguely JSR-esque Zineth). It's great for flavour but also lets you get tips from teammates or contact new recruits, check out your range of graffiti designs and how to write them, consult a persistent minimap while highlighting tag spots, or change the currently playing music. And speaking of the soundtrack, it's sublime, a heady mix and perfect tonal accompaniment that even includes three tracks from the funky uncle himself Hideki Naganuma (much like Hover before it)... and if you ask me they're some of his best.

Another way BRC expands slightly on JSRF's template is a bit more emphasis on plot, with a central mystery revolving around recently-decapitated protagonist Red, his new cyberhead, and his connections to the previous top dogs in the city's counterculture. This framing fumbles at times, but it gives more purpose to your interactions with other rudies and conflicts with the cops, and interstitial sequences between chapters lets the game reinterpret JSRF's surreal climax in a dream context.

I've been eagerly awaiting this game and as a big fan of JSRF it didn't disappoint. BRC takes everything I loved about that (now slightly creaky and inaccessible) game and gives it a fresh coat of paint. I've seen people gripe about the price and playtime but both are about on par with the game that it styles itself as a love letter to, so it would be disingenuous of me to complain about either. Better by far to celebrate what an awesome achievement this game is in recapturing a unique classic while brilliantly modernising it. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk reminds me why I love video games.

False-head type monsters are a favourite of mine, so a quick sketch for one such concept. The hood is bigger than depicted. - KOBADRA Title - Dragontail snake Monster class - Snake wyvern Known locales - Fringes of volcanic regions, miasmic zones Element/ailment - Confusion + Dragon Elemental weakness - Ice (3), Dragon (3), Water (2), Thunder (1), Fire (0) Ailment weakness - Poison (2), Stun (1), Blast (1), Paralysis (1), Sleep (1) Kobadra is a snake wyvern that is usually found on the fringes of volcanic regions, uniquely adapted to deal with toxic gases and zones of miasmic residue. As its title suggests, Kobadra is distinguished by the false head upon its tail that resembles a dragon's maw. The black-purple scales and iridescent hood of the snake wyvern are oddly beautiful, but it appears truly intimidating to most other monsters with its false dragon head. Kobadra is a scavenger whose strategy revolves around scaring other monsters away from their kills. The snake wyvern meticulously searches for other carnivores to steal from, supplementing its diet with dragonfell berries or minerals forced upwards by subterranean activity. Kobadra very rarely hunts directly, and even then only small monsters it can easily overpower. This opportunist lifestyle actually makes Kobadra quite dangerous to humans, as it may perceive them as easy meals. Fortunately, the snake wyvern can be deterred from attack by use of flash or sonic bombs, convincing it that humans are too troublesome to prey on. The key to Kobadra's imposing reputation is the combination of its false dragon head and the iridescent membrane of its hood. The snake wyvern confronts other monsters with both, disorientating rivals and victims alike by alternating attack patterns. The false head is heavy, effective as a cudgel, and specialised ports on its tip emit dragon energy in burning clouds. The hood can display luminescent patterns, disorientating observers and invoking Confusion. Enemies attempt to attack the tail may be met by a surprise attack from its fangs and claws. In turn, should they focus on Kobadra's head, they can be caught out by blows and blasts of the false dragon. Researchers have not yet determined how Kobadra employs dragon energy without exhibiting the same aggression as the like of Deviljho or Ebony Odogaron; it is believed the quality of its energy is less powerful, or its supplements of dragonfell berries and minerals help maintain its coherence. Surprisingly, given dragon-element monsters are usually fiercely territorial, Kobadra is cordial towards its own kind. Females (distinguished by their greater size and bolder colours) establish territories where dragonfell berries and minerals are abundant, which they share with several males; territorial disputes with other females are settled by display, not violence. Throughout most of her life, the dominant female produces only sons, who leave for new grounds when mature. Past a certain point in age, the female then produces daughters, who compete to succeed their mother and oust their siblings and fathers, forming a fresh clan with new arriving males. Kobadra is a respectably powerful monster wherever it lurks (Low Rank - 4, High/Master Rank - 3) and challenges hunters to test their cunning. Hunters must avoid fixating on one end of the snake wyvern lest they be baited into a surprise attack from the other. The use of traps is advised, temporarily stymying the snake wyvern's movement and making it vulnerable to attack. As Kobadra will come to their own kind's aid, hunters must be sure to isolate the target from its clan.

Its skill in intimidation and confusion means Kobadra usually deters attack from stronger carnivores or aggressive herbivores. It has few natural enemies beyond elder dragons, even if it is not necessarily as strong as the likes of Rathalos. However, Kobadra does have a nemesis in the form of Zykitin Cerra, a powerful neopteran who covets the snake wyvern's dragonfell berries. Zykitin Cerra is resistant to dragon energy and not easily fooled by displays, making it well-suited to overpowering the snake wyvern. - Thank you for reading and take care.

Shadow in a dress aiming a pistol. Shadow carried bridal style by Sonic. Originally considered a Masquerade AU but the artist’s tags about Body Double AU had me reeling with its potential. Got carried away so here’s some loose brainstorming. It’s long.

Imagine an AU with mutual Sonadow and/or one-sided Mephonic where:

Mephiles from ’06 game is the prince and prolly brother to crown princess Elise of Soleanna Kingdom. Referencing that re-color of a character design joke bc it has potential if his ‘crystalline’ final form is used instead of the re-skin.

Maybe Mephiles was adopted or maybe he was also the result of science experiments like Shadow. Except instead of mixed hedgehog-alien DNA it’s similar to that ‘messed with their sun god Solaris’ concept resulting in his creation.

Could even have similar backstory of ‘experiment found a sister in his creator’s daughter’ for fun. Sonic would delight in annoying Shadow with all those fun facts.

Mephiles’ crystalline form: Coarse black-purple fur, jagged white-tipped quills, notched ears, clawed hands with no gloves. White muzzle with fur so fluffy it looks like he has no mouth…

Bonus points if the pink sclera switches btwn white and pink depending on if he’s using his purple-pink powers or not. Green reptilian irises could be considered unsettling on his non-reptilian face.

Extra bonus points if lack of gloves are seen as scandalous by other mobians. Soleanna is a human-majority kingdom so Mephiles wouldn’t understand the culture-shock Team Dark and co would experience. But Sonic could blush, politely avert his eyes, and wonder what Shadow’s bare hands look like.

Mephiles’ powers could be liquified chaos energy and his body crystallized chaos. Could melt or solidify btwn liquid and solid states at will.

Either way his general shape is still similar to Shadow from far. FAR away. To humans anyway. Could act as a joke: ‘species blindness’ where humans struggle to notice differences btwn mobians bc ‘they all look the same’ 

Extra bonus points if mobians feel the same way about humans. The reason Eggman is so distinctive is bc he’s ‘notably egg-shaped’ Or something silly.

ANYWAY. All that is to establish Mephiles as his own person distinctly separate from Shadow. A person who happens to be a prince and the latest target in an assassination and/or kidnapping attempt ordered by humans from a rival kingdom. 

Maybe by G.U.N itself? Or a traitor within G.U.N’s ranks? Could work as juicy inner conflict for Shadow if he also works for G.U.N. Their government would be a structured way for him to ‘help the world be a better place’ while also keeping a close eye on them should they try to massacre innocents like they did decades ago on the ARK.

Thus the reveal of G.U.N trying to secure more ‘weaponry’ by kidnapping ‘a rogue, dangerous experiment’ a.k.a Prince Mephiles could put him at odds with them. Having to decide whether the entire organization needs to be destroyed and built anew. Or to root out out any parasites to prevent the dastardly infection from growing.

Someway, somehow, Shadow hears something about some prince from somewhere who looks remarkably like him and might be in danger. Maybe his teammate Rouge informs him because she’s a nosy spy and has been smelling somethin’ rotten brewing in their G.U.N ranks?

Or maybe their boss is unaware of those treasonous plans and sends Team Dark on a mission: Go Undercover and Protect Prince Mephiles of Soleanna Kingdom.

Shadow begrudgingly agrees to act as the body double to the prince. 

He doesn’t think they look similar at all but then the first time he had truly interacted with people outside of the ARK they had all mistaken him for his rival. His rival who is bright blue. A lovely shade of blue, yes, but blue all the same. Sometimes he wonders if the mix-up was deliberate.

Regardless, he accepts the task and learns the role. Supposed similar appearances or not, his behavior and knowledge had to mimic the prince well enough to be passable. 

Still. He doesn’t understand why he can wear clothing like a dress but not clothing like gloves. It is so… immodest. Ugh. Prince Mephiles may have been raised by humans but so had Shadow and he at least understood common decency!

It doesn’t help that Sonic of all people shows up.

Ok. So. Not sure what would be more fun:

1] Established Sonadow relationship:

Sonic and Shadow are a couple but the public doesn’t know that because it’s their private lives and they’d like to keep it that way. But then when Shadow has to pretend to be the royal prince of a famous kingdom and Sonic comes swinging by to visit, he naturally flirts with his boyfriend whenever they think they’re alone because it’s probably been awhile and undercover missions take time.

So Shadow’s firmly cemented as Prince Mephiles while the real prince is away at a vacation home or something and Sonic is all up in Shadow’s business. Maybe they’re fight-flirting and taking turns pinning the other against the wall of the empty hallway when one of them knocks over something that makes a soft thud and of course someone goes to investigate.

They’re accidentally spotted while swappin’ spit, maybe someone even scored a sneaky photo of them but only got Shadow’s back and Sonic’s front, and the crowd goes wild! Social media, news outlets, tabloids. Anyone and everyone everywhere starts talking about how the Hero of Mobius (“Hero of Earth” some commenters, presumably human, would argue. A never-ending debate btwn the two species) and Prince Mephiles are not only dating but are undoubtably soon to be engaged!

Sonic shrugs it off. “That's gossip rags for ya. So long as we know it’s not true then what’s the big deal? We could say it’s our big couple reveal if we wanna!”

Shadow and everyone else who’s ever had a life outside running around wherever and whenever they wanted and leaving anarchy in their wake, do not shrug it off.

Basically playing with social consequences of someone as famous as Sonic and someone as high ranking/politically influential as a royal prince (even one not immediate heir to the throne) being mistaken for a couple by the masses. 

Sonic would not immediately realize this means civilians AND villains would not only assume Prince Mephiles has emotional significance to him, but would target both of them in diff ways.

The prince’s personal council would see Sonic as a pawn to use in their political games. Get him to marry their prince and that would boost their own power/influence alongside their kingdom. Lots to gain. Like control over others.

Political allies would the see the same. Could either turn them into enemies of Soleanna due to seeing the courtship as a threat to their own power. Soleanna gaining more power would cause a power imbalance amongst their circle of allies and thus threaten that circle’s status quo. 

Or the allies could see a way of keeping status quo and/or gaining power by making a point to ‘aide their ally in this endeavor.’ Take credit for getting the two together. Legally binding contracts or whatever.

Enemies or rivals to Soleanna would see the courtship as a threat and would make plans to cripple Soleanna’s budding power. Maybe team up with Soleanna’s resentful and/or nervous political allies to either stop the courtship through legal means. Or through underhanded means like threats of assassination.

Coincidentally, this sudden surge of conflict amongst the collection of kingdoms would really help whoever was targeting Prince Mephiles in the 1st place and the reason why Shadow had to act as a body double at all. They’d absolutely take advantage of the chaos to plan an attack.

Villains like Eggman would see this as a chance to attack Sonic on a personal level. Target the prince and they’ll be getting the upper hand over Sonic emotionally. Supposedly. 

Who the heck knows where or what Prince Mephiles is doing. Maybe he returns to the kingdom to try and turn the false courtship into the real one because he sees the value in securing Sonic as a legal partner on a political level. He likes power. 

Though it’d be hilarious if he actually develops a crush on Sonic because “What an adorable spitfire. He’ll be a delight to crush beneath my heel.” 

Sonic doesn’t realize all this could also affect his boyfriend Shadow.

Legally, Shadow would have to “clean up this mess we've made, Sonic” by awkwardly clarifying to his G.U.N superiors that yes, he is in a romantic relationship with Sonic the Hedgehog and that, no, he had not intended for his personal life to affect his work life especially not while undercover as Prince Mephiles in the Kingdom of Soleanna but that, yes, he would work non-stop to fix this national nightmare they’ve created. 

So he’s running around trying to sort this out and stop world leaders from trying to poach his boyfriend while also figuring out how to stop the masses from fueling the fire because “How many copies of this one photo can possibly exist, Omega?” 

Emotionally, Shadow is upset that his private life has not only been blasted all over the place but that everyone got his identity wrong. So if he wants to kiss his boyfriend outside of this ridiculous charade then their reputations will be smeared. 

Sonic doesn’t care about reputations. But Shadow does. Cue conflict of personal values and the diff btwn ‘stability and right to privacy’ vs ‘freedom and public figures as public property’ 

If Shadow’s seen as a scandalous, shallow harlot who’s trying seduce the planet’s beloved ‘can-do-no-wrong’ hero away from ‘top-of-the-food-chain’ royal prince then how could he be taken seriously ever again? He has a job to do and no one in a position of power will listen to ‘arm candy!’

Shadow grumbles to himself as his partner oozes his way across his shoulders and down toward the desk where the paperwork he’s working on sits. “You’ve made my job tremendously harder.”

“Sorry.” Sonic cringes where he slumps half-folded like a prickly scarf. The weight of his warmth is nice. “In my defense, neither of us saw this coming. We were careful. Kinda.”

“Clearly not careful enough.”

2] Not established Sonadow. Mutual pining but presumed unrequited. One-sided Mephonic.

Could play with Prince Mephiles still living in palace instead of going to a vacation home for whatever reason. Maybe during timeframe of him teaching Shadow the role and having Shadow shadow him to learn subtle nuances like Mephiles’ body language that he himself isn’t aware of? Dunno.

Either way Prince Mephiles sees a cute piece tagging along and flirts with Sonic.

Sonic is very much not into it.

He’s not into it right up until he sees Shadow clenching his jaw in the background and is absolutely delighted by this fact. Perhaps Shadow feels something for him after all? Or maybe he’s just mad Sonic is interfering with his job. Could never tell with him sometimes. Could be both. Hopefully both. 

Sonic would very much like his friend to reciprocate his feelings. But since he’s an emotionally constipated idiot with a death wish, Sonic decides to mess with Shadow and see what happens. 

Why be direct and honest and painfully vulnerable with such things like feelings when he could just. Not. It’s gotten him this far and it’s worked just fine, after all! Why fix what ain’t broke?

Cue Sonic flirting with the prince. Always watching for Shadow’s reactions instead of Mephiles’. 

Checks to see if he ever looks jelly or interested in any way. Maybe Shadow will finally make a move or do something that makes it clear that he wants Sonic to be his romantic partner instead of just an occasional teammate or rival. Something. Anything. Shadow is so chaos-damned hard to read but maybe being in close quarters and flirting up a storm with someone else while he’s standing right there will help Sonic read him better.

This will not end well for anyone. Feelings will definitely be hurt. On all sides. Consequences will ensue.

A prince with too much power will not allow such insult to slide.

Cue Prince Mephiles deciding to retaliate against Sonic because “How dare you play a game only I may play? You are not a player in this game of life and so you shall bow down to me. Your king.” 

Or something equally demented where he tries to box Sonic into something bad. Like agreeing to an arranged marriage.

Or to openly support the kingdom in a political way. Like advertising Soleanna’s latest controversial research project or something? Who knows.

Some sort of payback for Sonic having no romantic interest in him despite having the gall to flirt back like he was some commoner of no importance. How dare he!

Maybe Mephiles targets Shadow as a way to lash out against Sonic? Either way he’d antagonize Shadow because: 

1st] He delights in spreading misery. Fanning Shadow’s jealousy is a fun pastime. 

2nd] Sonic is a villain who fancies himself a hero. How dare he not be sincerely enamored with Mephiles! It was one thing when that playboy played the game to rile that boorish stunt double. It was another when he realized the jerk only played because of genuine interest in that stunt double. How dare!

3rd] Mephiles shall not be used like a mere pawn! He is the prince. Only he can use people and throw them away.

There's so many ways for this Body Double to roll!

Jet set radio the original one is my favorite video game ever. So I thought, why not give YOU 👊 some cool tips n tricks for the game!! In this one I'll talk about some general tips and run down the first level!! Im not a speedrun expert or true gamer champion im just a girl that thinks it's neat when the guy with the headpones goes 'nice! :)' and the dog busts a move

You can play as Gum the entire game as she's the second best character. The best character in the game is Yo-Yo. Then after you unlock her near the end, you can use Piranha, who I'd consider roughly on Gum's level. Thankfully with the exception of Yo-Yo you are optimally playing as a cute girl the whole game. The reason why Gum/Yo-Yo/Piranha (among some secret characters) are so good is because of their graffiti stat. You get a higher score with your tags, so you don't need to trick as much to get a Jet ranked high score.

You have to become good at general movement, dashing and momentum. Is this what it's like to enjoy a Sonic game? I wouldn't know. My only tip for this is to be aware you're wearing rollerskates and to not play it like a Tony Hawk game

Get good at doing Gum's difficult(quote-unquote) graffiti motions, which are really just 180 circles that eventually feel like second nature. The player's ability to tag quickly and get ahead of the pigs is pivotal.

Optimize pathing around your 15 can limitation (Gum/Yo-Yo/Piranha are all confined to 15 cans maximum)

For stages where you tag the backs of rival gangs (known in JSRF as 'Tagger's Tag') you can play as Tab, Garam or any other character that can hold more than 15 cans.

This stage is obviously really easy and softly nudges the player toward its infinite grind even during the tutorials. You can do that to easily get a high score in the level and it's definitely not one of the harder infinite grinds in the game. My tips for this infinite grind are I guess to really get a feel for how your speed fluctuates and moves as your character jumps and when. It's something you figure out as you keep playing, but eventually you learn exactly when to adjust your speed just so to keep the infinite going.

Tags #1. The first three tags I always go for are the busses in the middle of the stage, the ones being tagged by Love Shockers as the stage begins. These tags are annoying to get to when there are police around, and for the introductory stages you aren't expected to deal with constant police presence from the beginning of the level. You can bump into the Love Shockers to get cans to do the sprays. If you're like me you then go ahead and start grabbing Graffiti Souls, particularly the ones under the overhang which you need the cars to access (they go away once the police enter the level).

Tags #2. The next tags are next to the busses, the taxi cars you tag in the tutorial to the game. It's better to get these earlier since they're on the ground floor where the police are.

Tags #3. Next we head to the grind rail that Gum wanted you to grind on in the tutorial. The tags here are easy to nab while grinding and lead you toward the next grind rail, which heads to the overhang, which leads to the rooftops you're going to next. So, you can grind all the way from here to the last tags in the level and see no cop the entire run.

Tags #4. Like I said, the only tags left in the level are the big ones on the rooftops. You can jump over here by grinding from the overhang or several over bus-terminal-roof methods, or you can jump up some cars, which puts you in range of Zenigata/Onishima

The first batch of levels are really easy especially when you know what you're doing so yeah. That's the path, like I said the rest of the points are up to how fast you can execute and/or the tricks you do, most of which will invariably involve the series of grinds that make up the infinite grind (including the Gum grind, overhang and doing a wall jump off a taxi rooftop advertisement). Once you get a hang of the infinite grind you can get a Jet on this level in your sleep.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

At first, it was just "Faye the Fox," because she was an independent character. Then I thought of giving her a family, so I wanted to have a family name, so I chose "Moreau*," a surname meaning "black-haired" in French. I chose "Faye" because it was a very soft-sounding name and I liked it.

[*I looked it up again to double-check and it actually means dark-skinned. Now that doesn't make any sense! Faye's family is very very white. One of the very few times I actively make the choice to white-code my OCs. There are reasons for this.]

Faye is 8 years old, same as Tails.

No.

Grandma's meatloaf!

She is a child and does not work, but she does help Mother with chores in the basement sometimes.

Faye loves dollmaking and taxidermy. She also loves to play pretend and make up stories, as any child does.

She has a genuine talent for dollmaking and sewing in general. She has a nack for the tiniest of details, probably in half thanks to her abnormally small hands.

Faye loves playing in the garden and collecting materials for her dolls. She doesn't like doing chores for the house, though. Or fighting 1-on-1.

Nope! This clay figure of her is her oldest design--

She still retains most of her features, but this "Beta Faye" has an oversized bow instead of a tiny hat, a ribbonless black bow on a white bib, and no purple trimming on her black dress at all! She also has black ear furnishings and is missing her heart-shaped ear tips.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

Sonic Forces and Little Nightmares. One of my first fangame ideas was a horror game inspired by LN. I still have a game in mind for Faye, but it looks very different compared to how it used to be then.

Psychological horror.

Unlabeled. She's a little girl and hasn't been thinking about those things yet. Also, with the way her family reproduces, she never needs to worry about boys.

Quite a few, it's hard to keep track. She's the youngest, though.

Mother can be quite strict and a little mean, but she's nice to her. Mostly.

Pretty much never, which is a shame. This is the most I've talked about Faye in a while.
