What are some favorite rarer pairs in KH?

And just what do you like about them, what makes them cute?

Mine has to be Vanitas and Repliku RepliVani or Vanipliku I think it is referred as and honestly for me/ and it doesn't even have to be exceptionally romantic. Even og Riku with him can work.

I'm not sure what ships are considered rare too. Like I like some popular ships.. Soriku AkuSaï but I like some medium ones too like Zemyx and Kailette

Namshi is also cute but I think it's medium (I'm not hundred percent if that's the name though since I don't talk about it that much)

Okay, so after half joking about Kairi and CoM under Steam's post, I went into dms with Xion and I dragged myself into rarepair territory a second day in a row. So if you would like, I'm gonna toss those ideas down there

So this goes off the headcanon I have that Selphie and Kairi got close in the year between kh1 and kh2. In the case of this au, Selphie formed a one-sided romantic attraction for Kairi, while Kairi is closeted and may or may not have feelings, but 1000% wouldn't be aware of that.

So in kh2, Kairi hits it off with Olette, and at some point in this au they get together and Kairi realizes she was closeted and all that jazz

Eventually, Selphie hears about this and is pretty sad, but like, what can ya do?

So somehow, Selphie learns that there are other worlds and she meets the radiant garden crew, and she just goes "I vibe with Yuffie. We're gonna be irritating together". They start dating so they can just cause chaos together

And before they start dating, Yuffie just makes sure Selphie is ready for this life

Here enters, Selphie and Yuffie Protection squad.

They are here to be pieces of sh#t and stand up for people

Someone's trying to force you into something? Yuffie and Selphie are there to intimidate and then attack if needed for your safety

You too afraid to correct an order someone got wrong at a restaurant? The duo got your back

Also, prime time to have a Yuphie and Kailette double date

Then after Kairi leaves DI for kh3, Yuffie starts to visit DI to take Selphie on dates. Yuffie has Selphie's schedule memorized so she knows when she can and can't come (gotta have boundaries bro. Yuffie can't just show up and take Selphie from school on the daily)

So it'll be lunch at school or a free day where Selphie is at home or on DI, and sometimes Yuffie tells her in advance, but other times she surprises her with a picnic or a trip to another world.

Now Selphie has offhandedly mentioned she has a girlfriend and how much she loves her, and Tidus and Wakka are skeptical because "Why haven't we seen her yet?" They don't believe her until Yuffie shows up while they happen to be there. So then, because only Selphie is aware of the existence of other worlds, Tidus and Wakka begin this conspiracy theory about Yuffie. They try to find her house and ask around, but most people aren't aware of her existence. They try to folow her "home" but they always lose her. They try to ask Selphie, but she either says something sappy like "The best place in hell. No one else could capture my heart" or changes the subject.

The boys never find out, unless they become aware of the existence of other worlds one day

Also, between KH3 and Limit Cut, Yuffie's trying her best with everyone else to find Sora, but she sometimes needs a break from all this depression. So sometimes she "sneaks" Selphie into Merlin's house and Selphie helps them with their looking for Sora work, but when they need a break, they take a walk in Radiant Garden and hang out together. It really is nice to clear your head with your girlfriend sometimes

So yeah, this is a bunch of jumbled ideas that I 100% have to write after I post that 100 follower milestone fic I promised. First I clown myself into Xuaning, and then into Yuphie the next day🤡🤡🤡

What are all your Kingdom Hearts pairings?

I am so sorry I never answered this:( I kept meaning to, but every time I’d get distracted with family being over for the holidays.

I used to have a ton of KH ships, but I’ve kind of cooled down on a lot of them now (for some reason. IDK why I think I’m just not as interested in romance as I used to be. I still love it, of course, but now I value other kinds of relationships in series, too.) So for the most part, I’m really only going to tell you the ones I search for in the tags every day and maybe a few others.

SoKai is my ultimate OTP forever and ever. It always has been and it probably always will be. I don’t really ever see that changing. I should maybe mention that I also like the fandom’s invention (that I helped to create;)) of dark Sora and Kairi. And, yes: that even includes the rare dark Kairi… that I should really finish my fic of.

I love RokuShi a lot, but I’ve even cooled down on them a little. They used to be one of my ultimate OTPs–and to be fair, they still kind of are–and were my second favorite KH pairing (heck, there was a hot second where I even liked them more than SoKai. Weird, I know), but now they’re probably more equal with my other ships and most don’t even come close to reaching SoKai level for me.

Namiku. I love it a lot and mostly always have. RokuShi and Namiku are my ideal pairings when it comes to shipping Roxas, Xion, Riku, and Naminé with people. Though I do love RokuNami now, and have for a while.

Speaking of: RokuNami.

Terqua. But maybe not as much as the above. IDK. I’ve kind of flip-flopped on this one over the years. And KHIII really made me love them again… but at the same time, I’m okay with them being platonic and like siblings… which is apparently what their relationship in canon is, along with their relationships to Ven and vice versa. (According to the KHIII Journal and Ultimania).

Gulava. They’re precious and I love them a lot.

PlayerStrelitzia.

Epheplayer (I’m also okay with SkuldPlayer, or EphemerSkuldPlayer being OT3d, but I probably prefer PlayerStrelitzia and Epheplayer first… and the latter one is funny, because I think I used to prefer SkuldPlayer over it. But not anymore. I blame all you people who make cute Epheplayer stuff:)

VentusStrelitzia, because of the fandom. Because of the fandom (also with a side bit of VanitasStrelitzia because of the fandom). But not if Ven in any form is her killer.

IraInvi… just because of that one line in Back Cover about Invi not wanting the others “to get the wrong idea about them”… even though I kind of don’t like Ira that much (yet. Hopefully that’ll change), because he kind of feels like a wet blanket to me so far.

Maybe Aced and Invi, but just because of Terra and Aqua feeling somewhat similar to them, if I ship AcedInvi at all. I don’t know if I do. Also, maybe Ava and Invi. IDK.

SoRiKai… Because I can take the things I don’t like about S*Riku if Kairi’s involved, though it’s not my favorite (I’ll always prefer SoKai by itself. But I’ll still happily take SoRiKai posts, since it’s better than the alternative… which is Kairi being left out of everything, that I can’t stand).

RiKai. I ship RiKai a lot. Mainly because my old best friend loved loved loved loved them (and a few other of my RL friends, oddly enough), and she was always trying to pull me over to the RiKai side… And while I still prefer SoKai, she did make me like RiKai a lot. And because this pairing is made up of tropes people usually love, so I don’t get why it’s not more popular. And because their story in KHI (mainly on Riku’s side) breaks my heart in the best way possible.

Roxiri… for some reason. I blame awesome YouTube editors for this one.

Vanaqua (that I actually ship a lot, and also look for in the tags a lot. Even though I don’t love them as much as the first pairings I posted here, but still maybe moreso than some of the other ones I put in the middle here. I don’t know why I put this ship so low).

Vennami (same thing as VanAqua).

Venaqua… or at least I did until the age difference.

SoNami in CoM only (and also kind of one-sided on Naminé’s part).

Replinami. But I probably don’t ship it as much as I should, especially if Nomura’s now trying to sell that Naminé’s always had some great love for him (that I don’t really buy, but shh).

Rion… but more because so much of the fandom ships them, and I feel I sort of have to because of that and not so much because I really want to. They’re okay. And I get why people ship them, but they’re kind of meh for me, but maybe getting a bit better. I’ve just… always had some issues with them (mainly that I feel like Riku kind of goaded Xion into committing suicide to save Sora: which is an issue I had with RokuNami for some time, too, and took me many years to get over for them. But now I have and they’re one of my fave pairings). But at the same time, I wouldn’t hate it if it happened.

Riku and Aqua, for some reason (though that darn age difference!). Maybe because I ship Terqua and this ship has stuff in common with it, and Riku’s sort of the version of Terra that passed with flying colors?

RikuShiki.

ZackAqua.

Perhaps Marluxia and Larxene, since I think that’s where the narrative is going. Perhaps.

Haynette. I also don’t mind Pencette. I also like Roxette quite a lot.

I shipped Larxel long ago, but not anymore. And yet I always feel the need to still put it down for some reason…

Ira and Aced, maybe: they did have a good arc in Back Cover.

Brain and Lauriam, possibly, because of the fandom. I’ve seen some Ephemer ships here too, I think, that could be cute.

I feel like part of me would have shipped Sora and Roxas somewhat, if they weren’t Nobody and Other…

TerraVen a bit… Well, maybe I did a bit before I knew their ages… probably not now (I shipped them a bit back in the day, when I felt like in BbS they cared way more about each other than they ever did Aqua).

Xion and Repliku a bit… maybe. But I’d prefer them more to have a sibling bond.

Sora and Ariel for crack… and a bit of Sora and Rapunzel.

Terra and Cinderella and Aqua and Cinderella (also, Aqua and Philip) for the above reason. Maybe even Ven and Snow White.

Roxas and the Accessory Shop Girl for crack.

Yozora and brown-haired Stella! I will go down with this ship, as I’ve been shipping “them” since Versus XIII, essentially. And maybe Yozora with some of his bros, but we’ll see.

There are probably some FF ones, too (though I don’t care about them that much)… usually the canon ones, like CloTi, Zerith, Clerith, TiYuna, Squinoa (because Nomura eluded long ago that she was a part of the fall of Radiant Garden and why Squall changed his name to Leon, in losing her for the time being), and maybe Seifer and Fuu. But I’m also okay with things like Selphie and Tidus, Leon and Yuffie, Leon and Aerith, and even Leon and Tifa because of one amv (where he started liking her in seeing her as a replacement for Rinoa, and then began to fall for her as her).

Oh, and Neku and Shiki… slight JoshNeku, and maybe Joshua and Rhyme (because I’m still somewhat Joshyme trash, gosh darnit) and some BeatJoshua (though this is moreso for TWEWY, of course, than KH. But they seem to be their true TWEWY selves in KH, so…)

All of the canon Disney couples, of course.

Edit: Maybe Ven and Skuld, now that Ven asked her to build a snowman together and all. Their interaction there was cute.

…I realize I told you I was going to make this list short, and really I pretty much put everything I could think of. I apologize (and a lot of this did not end up in any good order whatsoever), but SoKai, RokuShi, Namiku, RokuNami, Terqua, Gulava, Skulmera, PlayerStrelitzia, and IraInvi (for some reason) are the ones I look for in the tags every day (also, Vanaqua. And sometimes Vennami). Then, it’s probably RiKai and SoRiKai at this point? With some of these others thrown in there? Like the “If Kairi died and sadly stayed dead, maybe Sora and Naminé could be a thing” kind of ones? Even though they don’t come close to the other ones? IDK.

vanven. w/o a shred of doubt. they have crazy potential and intrigue and i’m So Weak for rivals/enemies to lovers pairs in all regards.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO WRITE WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?

so my Modus Operandi(tm) is that i’m usually willing to write almost anything, but there’s a disclaimer, and that disclaimer is: you really need to be down to play and plot for the long haul bc development and build up matters So much to me.

this isn’t to say that i need every little thing played out frame by frame! filling in gaps with ooc discussion is beyond fine and encouraged! but the development definitely needs to be present and explored to some capacity.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?

it honestly depends. in this particular case, seeing as ven is ~16-17 in the predominant verses that i write him, i’d probably say like.... more than one year if they’re younger, more than two years if they’re older??

for a hypothetical verse in which he was 18+, i might be less picky so long as the gap doesn’t go beyond ~5 years and there are no power imbalances at play, but this leniency would never extend to adult characters who he already knew AS adults when he was a child.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?

not extremely selective, but selective enough in that there needs to be good chemistry between my character and the other character(s) in question! everyone has different spins on their portrayals and all, and sometimes they just don’t mesh as well as you think they will when you start roleplaying.

i'm really big on good ooc chemistry too. like..... if you wouldn’t want me leaving a bunch of mushy thoughts or analyses about our pair in your dms @ a weird hour, it might not be the best idea to ship w/ me. ghhggh.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED N-S-F-W?

uhhhhh ig the best way to phrase it is that anything that could be interpreted as steamy within the situation in question is already n-s-f-w in my eyes.

i.e. if someone else’s character were to, say, innocently kiss the back of my character’s neck just bc they’re cuddling and their lips happen to be there and it didn’t go further than that, that would be fine. neck kissing Can be steamy, but in that particular case, it’s not. if there’s a deliberate intent of going further or it turns into biting, or something, then that’s definitely n-s-f-w and way too much for this particular blog seeing as the character i’m playing as is a minor.

WHO ARE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH?

vanitas aside, sora and naminé are the biggies!

DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU?:

not necessarily! but even if i’ve already expressed interest myself, you have to do something to express interest too, whether it be in the way of a direct comment you make ooc, the nature of an inbox prompt you send in or something indisputable that your character says / thinks / does within one of our roleplays. bc otherwise i’ll never push it further than a crush on my character’s part.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU LIKE TO SHIP?

a heck of a lot, but i also really love platonic relationships!! a healthy dose of both is the ideal for me. not to mention the fact that i think a strong platonic relationship is a necessary foundation for anything meaningfully romantic, so the latter always needs to come before the former regardless.

speaking of having a healthy dose of both.... this blog hasn’t seen Enough romantic action in comparison to platonic action, so if you’re ever interested and you think we’ve got a good thing going, you know where to find me. 👀

Probably one where the boy has had some issues with darkness. Terqua would probably be a good one for that, and I know people have done that before (and you could also gender swap it too, now that Anti-Aqua is a thing and have her be the Beast and Terra the Beauty). I know at least one other person has attempted it with Vanaqua, too.

Vanitas pairings in general could be good for it, if you want to Draco in Leather Pants him...

RiKai, SoRiku, Namiku, or Rion perhaps (if we’re talking about “Riku is the Beast” stories)...

Roxas has some darkness to him, too, so you could do RokuShi or RokuNami. Or Roxette, RoxasHayner, or what have you. Dude, I’m not picky. You just do you with any of these, if you want to.

And, yes: I do think you could do Sora and Kairi--or Sora and Naminé, or Sora and Riku with Sora as the Beast if you wanted, just give him some of Vanitas’ traits at first but then he becomes Sora more and more as the story continues.

But while I have put some gay ships even in the above, here’s a few more: especially if you want to do a gender reversal where the Beast is the girl:

Xion (as the Beast) and Kairi or Naminé as Belle. (I also know that Kailette is popular, and you could do this too, if you wanted. Maybe Kairi being the Beast--and all of her insecurities finally being dealt with this way--and Olette being the Beauty? You could also do “Kairi is the Beast” stories with that idea about Kairi in general.)

Naminé as the Beast and Kairi or Xion as Belle.

Larxene as a Beast.

You could potentially make Player a Beast too, with the whole Dark Chirithy thing.

Xehanort (the Beast) and Eraqus (Belle).

The Master of Masters as a Beast (Luxu too, for that matter, could work as one?)... though that could get into some sketchy territory, depending on how you pair him with there.

Aced or Ira as Beasts.

Brain or Lauriam as Beasts.

Ava as a Beast, since I think she’s the traitor and “The Foreteller situation is a loaded gun, and Ava has her hand on the trigger”, or whatever that Nomura quote was.

Darkness as a Beat, if you want to make up their entire character that we don’t know yet.

Yozora as a Beast, for sure and his Stella, or one of his bros, or whoever else you might want as the Belle?

-shrugs- This is all I’ve got right now.

Edit: More on the “making KH girls the Beast thing”, you could maybe do so with Skuld, too. Since she was really pushy with Chirithy, in kind of making him do something he didn’t want to do--that she knew could get them all in trouble and potentially be really dangerous. And Skuld seems to get angry when the situation calls for it, like when she’s so aghast when those two Union Leaders are fighting each other and says it’s “irrelevant” with an angry face when they ask what Union she’s from. And how she does have a bit of snarky-ness to her too (like Kairi and Xion do--and now even somewhat Aqua--and Larxene, though Larxene’s is in the “evil” category), like when she says “What? Surprised to see me?” or something like that, when she meets Ephemer at the Graveyard or whatever.

Invi could also be a “Beast”, in that her believing in the Master so much--when she should have used her head about the situation more--led to such corruption.
