Misconceptions about Nomura "debunking" rikunami and why the misconceptions arent true/why I personally believe-and will until clearly said otherwise-they are canon.

Foreword: This thread will be decently long and feature translation work from mutuals in other fandoms who do not have any horse in the game as far as Kingdom Hearts is concerned, making their work unbiased. The mutuals in question are @turquoisehammer on bluesky and @chiisaistars on both bluesky and X/twitter if you would like to validate their detachment from kingdom hearts and thus their lack of bias.

Please note also, this thread in no way addresses other pairings, and thus no other pairings should be brought up in discussion surrounding this thread. This thread will primarily draw evidence from the english version of Kingdom Hearts as that is what I am most familiar with and the scenes in question do not differ drastically in meaning from the JPN script. Reminder again, no other pairings are brought up or diminished in these words....so I hope those engaging with this will do so in genuine good faith of seeking to PROPERLY interperet Nomura's words and meaning, not to push any other pairings they would prefer.
