Solas x Macha (Qunari Female)

The Fade rippled around him, eerie silence, shadowed forms. The forest scene was too precise and void of life, save the windless ripples upon the lake.

“Stop playing games, kossith, it has been a long day.” Instead of staying in the trees as he normally did, playing up his role as dread, he gracefully made his way out into the clearing. Silver light from the sister moons caused his armour to glint, the fur on his shoulders to glow. If the Inquisitor was going to play games after all this time, he would end it here.

Ripples spread, large and hungry across the argent lake, upon its shore they soon break. In a swirl of mist and fade Macha coalesces, her horns twisted and sharp. Eyes shifting between green and gold, fade and ancient. Her face seems to be caught between anguish and defiance at the insult uttered.

At the sight of her, Solas suppressed a twitch of surprise, eyes and brow shifting in scrutiny. 

“I was correct, it was you that visited me that night, tempting me away from my path.” Motioning at her hala horns with a careless wave. Arching a brow she grinned, fangs glinting. Moving closer she inspected her claws. 

“I’m sorry, Solas,” she  canted her head to the side, I didn't realize you would have picked up on that so quickly.

 She moved to caress his chin,  but he tilted his head away at the last moment, denying her the chance to ensnare him.

 “You are absolutely inseparable, Macha.  You take the guise of desire, and yet you only had to ask.”

She clicked her teeth, her grin shifting to  sultry pout. “It was your own pride that conjured the form of desire. I much prefer delight. Though I must say the Dread Wolf's eyes are quite pretty when he's sated, his ego fed.”

Solas  grasped her hand, entwining fingers with elegant claws. “My hunger is far from sated. And you appear far more true to form than prior rendezvous.”

She's scoffed, her voice light and full of mirth. “I am as I appear nothing more, nothing less. An object of desire called to you and this fade conjured realm.” She raised their hands to her lips, brushing soft kisses to his knuckles, jade eyes watching him intently.

“I know from the weight on my horns, the scent of scotch on your breath and the warm flush on my cheeks,” she paused as his eyes darkened, his  tongue darting our to wet his lips. “Should we wake now, I would be in your chambers,” He swallowed hard, breath catching.

“And I am sure,” she raised on her toes, lips nearly touching. “We are right where we want to be.” 

Solas closed the distance between them in a rush, a snarl of desperation in his throat.

The Fade bled around them as they came too, the fire crackling in his fireplace, her hands on his thighs, his hands at the base of her curled horns, fingers tangled in her hair.

Summary: Asala Adaar has a few words with Solas about how he talks to Bull about the Qun.

A/N: just a little something between my inquisitor and solas before they're in a relationship. I had been tossing the idea around in my head and decided to write it down.

Asala  didn’t know how the argument started. She had only wanted to ask some questions about the Fade, and the next thing she knew, she and Solas were arguing about the Qun. 

“I am not saying you have to agree with him, but I’m only saying that maybe you don’t have to argue with Bull about the Qun every time we go out.” She pleaded. “Just…keep an open mind.”

Solas frowned “It is him who you should tell to open his mind, not me. I only wish for him to understand that the Qun-”

Asala cut him off, frustrated, as they kept talking in circles. “Look, I get what you’re doing, but who is that going to help? He grew up under the Qun, and he understands it better than either you or I ever could. You questioning him about it won’t change that fact.” 

“Just because you believe things cannot change, does not mean I do.” He said, harshly. “If you do not wish to question the status quo, you are free to do so, but do not ask me of the same.” 

“That is not what I am saying.”

“Then what is it?” 

Asala took a deep breath, calming her nerves. “I don’t know what I am asking, but I know this. Living in this world when you look like me or Bull is hard enough as it is. Everyone thinks we’re all savage beasts.”

She sighed. “And I don’t know how he feels, if he is even bothered by these comments. But we already get enough shit as it is and maybe, not being incessantly questioned about his beliefs and how they are definitely wrong, in your opinion, is not going to make him have an easier time.”

The frown left Solas face, as he tilted his head. “I am surprised that you would offer such understanding to him, seeing as the Qun does not look fondly to those outside of it.”

Asala crossed her arms. “Maybe it’s misguided, especially when this…understanding, as you put it, is not given to me or other vashoth.” She looked away, thinking out loud. “Because I really shouldn’t, right? I mean, the first time I talked to Bull here, he made a point of telling me we were not the same, when I was just trying to find a connection. Because me, my parents and my brother, and my friends, we’ll always be hunted down because we chose not to follow the Qun. We’ll never belong to the only other group of people who look like us.” 

She looked at Solas, and he remained silent, his expression neutral as he listened. Asala continued rambling. “Understanding is all I can offer, even to those who don’t deserve it, because then, I will be just like them. Close minded and my efforts will be for nothing. I can’t change Bull’s mind, or every Ben-Hassrath’s mind by debating them, but I can hope that by listening, and by acting against what they believe of me, they could maybe…” 

Asala shook her head, uncrossing her arms. “But perhaps it doesn’t matter, right? Because no matter how many people I help, I’ll still get called oxman behind my back, and people will never change their minds about the qunari.” She rubbed her face. “I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore. Keep doing what you want, I guess. I’ll go see if Cassandra needs anything.” 

She turned around, marching to where the Seeker usually was, when a hand touched her wrist. “You’re wrong.” 

Asala sighed as she looked at him, not ready for another debate. “Solas-”

“You have changed minds. At the very least, one. Don’t think your actions are for naught.” He told her. “Our conversation was…enlightening. I will take what you said into consideration.”

“I…thank you, Solas.” He gave her a tight nod before walking away. She gave herself a small smile before shaking her head and going to find Cassandra.

My inconsequential pet peeve with the dragon age fandom is the erasure of male Lavellan and the assumption all Lavellans romanced Solas. And that's the devs' fault cause like Solas should be a bi option or AT LEAST discuss the vallasin (i am not looking up how to spell that) thing with male Lavellans also. But that didn't happen soooooooo like...I don't do bald dudes and I like to play as funny little guys. Where is my funny little guy Lavellan rep???? He's very silly and he loves buff, emotionally constipated women who devalue his religious background and who leave him to become the pope (it's problematic tbh)

me going on a solavelyan kick

SO, i am a weirdo who ships solavelyan (solas x female trevelyan) and it's a smaller crack ship but i think it's a tasty a$$ ship

lavellan already has certain brownie points with solas upon meeting him due to being elven (dalish, i know, but she is still one of THE people) but a human? as solas says to trevelyan, what he thinks of humans "humans are short-sighted, brutish, blind to the beauty of the fade". so, when we initially meet him as a human, he really doesn't have many positive things to say of us (to be fair, same for an adaar and cadash inquisitor but i'm talking about trevelyan here)

so, in my perfect little shipper brain i like the idea of solas having to do more work within himself to even just DEEPLY RESEPECT trevelyan let alone FALL IN LOVE with her and I THINK IT'S *chefs kiss*

ANYWAY, this long-winded post of me explaining my love for solavelyan was so i could share one of my favorite fanfics of them.

"Tethered" by Azzandra on AO3 is not tagged as a solavelyan fic, it's actually just a solas and trevelyan friendship fic (which is great i love that) but for myself i like to headcanon it as something intimate that happened between solas and my trevelyan.

we ALL KNOW that solas is no doubt touch starved and i really can only see the inquisitor as the only person that solas can trust and be close with for him to feel comfortable with them touching him. so i'm here to share this beautiful moment created by Azzandra <3

General Likes:  I really like UST and mutual pining, also the corny stuff like “fake married” or “bed sharing” or “arranged marriage” tropes. I LOVE Soulmate AUs more than anything else, I’m an absolute sucker for those. I also like the enemies-to-friends-to-lovers trope. I also really like cats, so if you give a character a cat, I will be happy

General dislikes: I love angst, but not really hurt/comfort. I love canon deviation and certain AUs, but I really don’t get into any AUs that change the setting for Dragon Age

DNW: any kind of abuse, bathroom kinks, bestiality, crossovers, humiliation, incest, modern AUs, mundane AUs, noncon/dubcon, omegaverse, pregnancy, PWP, second-person POV, underage, whump.

Davrin & Merrill (Dragon Age) - LET! MERRILL! PET! THE! BABY! GRIFFON! Ok apart from Assan, I really would love to see Merrill able to make friends with another Dalish elf, and as a Grey Warden Davrin is likely less anti-blood-magic than average. Or at least I’m going to headcanon that he is, until proven otherwise. 

Fenris/Neve Gallus - All the joy of pairing Fenris with a mage, with less drama because she’s 100% with him on hunting down maleficars & helping Tevinter slaves. Also I have one word for you: Casefic.

For general Veilguard stuff: I'm planning to play as a lady Rook that is a Dwarven rogue archer named Rhea. If there's a background for Rook that doesn't involve being part of the Carta I'll be over the moon. That's not at all required to include, but I thought I might as well include it

Ah Trespasser; i honestly love this DLC so much even though i get teary eyed every time i play it.

Something i love about Inquisition is that every time I play Ive found something new i didnt know about before. This time i found the armour my Inquisitors wearing (only took me til my 6th playthrough to stumble upon it XD) and the enchantment you can give armour that causes bees! to attack your enemies.... its amazing 😂

Reluctantly, begrudgingly, Solas has to admit that the Inquisitor is everything that he had ever dreamed of his people becoming. She is exactly what he would have hoped for as a representative of The People.

The only problem?

She's not an elf.

Despite all his best resolutions, Solas is hopelessly attracted to everything he never wanted to get involved with and meeting her constantly in the Fade is providing a temptation he can't resist.

Oh dear, I'm actually embarrassed! 😅 I did open two different one-shots with a sentence along the lines of "By the time when/that..." and to others using the same metaphor ("tired to the bone"). As mentioned on Twitter the other day, it feels like I'm sampling the same two to three sentences over and over and over again. Goodness, I really need to look out for this, or I'll soon start repeating myself not just in the first line but in the entire fic. 🙈

I'm very proud that only one first line is a massive run-on sentence, though! I had a love for those when I started writing – which is why I still tend to cram as much information in the first line as possible (like the setting, time of day, mood, etc.)

The naughty ones I can’t write at work, this will verbatim show up in their fic with much more added lol lime artwork at the bottom. 

 18. Forbidden

Draconian eyes stared up through dark lashes. Shifting from gold to fade green and back, the living goddess before him was dazzling, but he was unsure if this vision of beauty was fade induced, or merely the libation he had enjoyed earlier that evening.

“While I know very well I’m a novelty,” her soft voice startled him, “I would appreciate it if you would kindly stop staring.” Clawed hands glide gently up his calves, while fangs glint between her pouting lips. “You do know how I so enjoy leaving you speechless, but I rather hoped it wouldn’t have been this easy, da’fen.”

Dragging a hand down his face, he peered down at her from between curled fingers, a glass of scotch in his other hand resting against the arm of his chair.  “You’re not real, begone with you” he shooed her, then downed the glass, the bitter liquor causing him to grimace in displeasure.

Taken aback, they started, quickly standing and glaring down at him.

 “Not real? How incredibly rude of you. You invited me here in the first place.”  The iridescent sheen of scales along their hips caught the firelight as they tapped a foot, the previous mood of decadence condensing into palpable annoyance.

“This is a dream and she doesn’t have scales, you’ve taken the liberty of a stray thought.” Drawing a long, slow breath, in through his nose, out past his lips. He met the eyes of the creature before him.

As a shimmer of Fade energy ripple down her form, there was only a subtle change; skin shifted to a warm periwinkle, face elongated, hair a deep blue, rams horns turned to Halla. Draconian eyes glared daggers at him, and a flame tipped tail twitched in irritation.

“How would you know if she had scales or not, you’ve yet to bed her.” The creature’s arms crossed against their chest, nostrils flaring in an all too familiar way. 

“She’s kossith, they don’t have scales.”

“And just how,” she pressed a clawed finger into his inner thigh. “Do you,” pressing harder she drew closer. “ Know?” She was firmly nestled between his legs now, dark intent lighting her eyes. Watching him breath deep again, the hint of a flush across his cheeks, she knew she was close to having him.

“Be gone desire. This is both ill received and forbidden.”

They hummed, letting their hands glide to his waist. “Forbidden by who I wonder, ancient one.” Solas had yet to act, to force them from this portion of the Fade, so they grew bolder.

“You’ve enjoyed your other spirit friends' company, why not let us get acquainted.” Their appearance shimmered again, Inquisitor's appearance returning. “I can even give you what you’re aching for, all alone up in this room.” 

A look of utter desperation flickered across Solas’ face and they knew they had them. Fangs gleaming they leaned up, eager to claim his perpetually pouting mouth.

Strong hands grasped them by the horns, holding them but a hair's breadth from their prize. Wide eyed, they startled as a mask of pure devilish dominance took over.

“I’ll lead this dance, dear Desire,” he claimed their mouth in a crushing kiss, their eyes all but glowing from the raw emotion they were about to feed upon.

Macha awoke with a start, skin flushed, body aching. Her room deep under the keep had gone cold, her fire out, so she gathered her furs around her. Glaring at her cold hearth, her nostrils flared and the embers soon burst to life.

She couldn’t remember the last time she had such a dream, and wasn't sure the last time she had encountered such a spirit or demon. Regardless, whatever possessed her mind, whatever took his face, was definitely better than her imagination.

She had no idea how she was going to meet that man’s eyes come the morrow, what with blushing the shade of purple he was so fond of. Wrapping the furs around her tighter, she scooted out of bed, her feet seeking her slippers and missing.  She hissed, toes touching the icy floor.  Now more annoyed than embarrassed, she fumbled into her slippers, then strode to her hearth to add what wood she had left.

Gazing idly as the flames lapped up the splintered morsels, she felt the Anchor pulse, slow at first, like the beating of another beings heart. Bringing it into view, though she was loath to let go of her furs, she watched as it flared and crackled.

“What, the hell!?” She yelped. The pulsing was growing stronger, forcing her fingers to curl as she fought to dominate it’s will.

“I need to get to Solas, time of night be damned.” She hissed to herself. Trading her furs for a dressing gown and fade stepped to the throne room. The moon shone through the high windows behind the throne, casting spiraling shadows across her path. Walking with purpose, while clutching her palm to her chest, she forced her way through the wards on Solas door. Shadow stepping again, she walked up the final flight of stairs, casting her eyes about the dark room.

‘Solas’ she whispered loudly, ‘Solas!” She turned to look behind her, the wards back in place, then stepped into the room proper.

The light from the open balcony cast a sliver of silver across the floor, across the sleeping form of the man she was seeking. Asleep in his chair, empty scotch glass on the ground beside him, she walked slowly, her mind racing as she drew near. 

He shifted in sleep, his ear tips and cheeks flushed as she reached to gently shake him.

“Solas, wake up,” she spoke softly, nervous energy beginning to dance in her veins. The anchor throbbed, its green energies crackling, casting the elf in an eerie glow. He winced, then peaked an eye open. His brows drew into a scowl, sleep still holding him hostage. 

“Hey, I need your help, da’fen.” Macha reached out with both hands and cupped his face softly, brows furrowed. “Can’t you feel it, wherever in the Fade you’ve gone?”

Squeezing his eyes shut, a wolfish grin appeared on his face, eyes opening slowly, shining silver in the moonlight.

“I didn’t summon you, ‘ma’lasa,”  Voice was rough with sleep, he leaned into her Anchored hand, watching as a blush spread across her cheeks.

 She stared at him, her eyes wide and  lips parted in a surprised smirk. 

“Solas, what are you doing?”  The Dreamer's grin grew, leaning forward he claimed her lips in a crushing kiss.

Default Tarot Card: The Empress (upright)

How they are recruited: Ashariani can be found talking to the druffalo from Where The Druffalo Roam. When approached, she will:

(if Trevelyan) - Step back cautiously, but look on in amazement, introducing herself.

(if Lavellan) - Introduce herself, asking you if you remember her from the clan. You can either say yes, which will allow her to respond with excitement, or no, which will make her smile fade as she shrugs and mumbles, “Figured.”

(if Cadash or Adaar) - Show visible excitement and claim she’s “never met your people before” before panicking and expressing she hopes that doesn’t offend.

She will explain her clan sent her to look for another member who had not returned and either bring them home or report back what happened to them. She tells you she’ll return the druffalo home if you help her find her clan member. If you agree, the cutscene ends and she and the druffalo disappear, Where The Druffalo Roam being replaced by the quest Lost and Found. Following the quest marker, you find her in the hills. When spoken to, a cutscene begins where she expresses she doesn’t feel safe. A battle with a few Templars takes place. After combat is over, another cutscene starts, and this time Ashariani finds her missing clan member. They are badly injured. She will heal them with her magic, and expresses disappointment as they rush off without a word to her. She’ll turn back to you, explaining that as much as she loves them, she feels out of place with her clan. She offers to join the Inquisition, offering Dalish knowledge (if not Lavellan) and friendliness. If you agree, the cutscene ends and you can add her to your party. If disagree, she will become upset and rush away quickly.

Where they are in Haven: She can be found next to Varric. The two of them seem to be in constant conversation. She is normally sitting on the stone wall behind him, but will occasionally get down and walk around, usually to warm her hands in the fire. The initial conversation with her will have her remark on every companion you have so far, focusing heavily on Varric and/or Iron Bull, if you’ve recruited him by then. She will also express her delight to be accepted in the Inquisition and promises she won’t get into too much trouble, then asks you how you’re doing.

Where they are in Skyhold: She can be found by an empty spot near Cassandra. The initial conversation with her will have Cassandra looking up, yelling at her to come down. You can ask Cassandra who she’s talking to, which will make her scoff and begrudgingly admit it’s Ashariani. You then call up to her and wait a few seconds as she climbs back down. She admits with a smile that she likes to climb and Cassandra walks away, throwing her hands in the air. You can then talk to Ashariani about how she likes Skyhold. She’ll say it’s magnificent and that she’s happy you closed the Breach, but will then sober up and ask you how you are. You can:

tell the truth, admitting Haven shook you up

crack a joke, but eventually admit you’re fine/you’re shaken up

lie, telling her not to worry and that you’ll be just fine

ask her if she’s alright

If asked if she’s alright, she’ll be taken aback and confess Haven scared her a lot, gaining you approval. With medium-high approval, at the end of the conversation, she’ll admit she likes that you’re friends. With high enough approval, you can flirt for the first time, and she’ll become flustered before the conversation ends. Neutral-low approval will gain you a “I’m glad you’re okay” with no follow-up.

Companion Quest:

For What?

(after Another Very Important Request)

When spoken to, Ashariani will request you personally go to the map location previously mentioned in A Very Important Request. If denied, she will disapprove and claim she is going there herself and the cutscene will end. If this happens, she will not be available for your party the first time you leave Skyhold after that conversation (she will return after). If accepted, Ashariani is locked into your party and a temporary location appears on your map.

Upon arriving, you are immediately attacked by bandits who had heard the Inquisition had visited. After the battle, Ashariani apologizes and asks you to collect the metals and herbs. Once you find all of the materials, she will exclaim, “Perfect!” which will gain some confused remarks from your companions, which she will not truthfully respond to. You are then allowed to leave the location and it disappears from your map.

After visiting two more locations after that, upon returning to Skyhold, Ashariani will run up and greet you. She will ask if you’ll take her and Iron Bull to slay a high dragon and collect its bone and webbing. You can:

say yes / say yes and flirt (female only)

say yes, but ask her why

say no

express confusion, as she has protested to killing dragons before

Option 1: Causes her great joy, she jumps in the air before giggling and running off, thanking you in the process. The cutscene ends.

Option 2: She’ll get excited, then give you a cryptic answer before thanking you and running off. The Inquisitor says, “She’s determined to keep it a secret, huh?” and the cutscene ends.

Option 3: She will ask you if you’re serious, to which you can reply yes or no. If yes, she will become very upset and mumble something about you disappointing her, and the cutscene ends, gaining you major disapproval. If no, she’ll breathe out a sigh of relief and smile, punching you in the arm for teasing her. She thanks you and the cutscene ends.

Option 4: She’ll shrug, trying to look nonchalant, and say, “someone has changed my mind.” You can press this further by asking who, but she’ll only press her finger to her lips. Options A, B, and C are offered again and the cutscene follows accordingly.

If accepted, she and Iron Bull are locked into your party. You’ll get a few lines of dialogue between Iron Bull and Ashariani as they approach the high dragon, and some after. After collecting the bone and webbing, she thanks you and you gain major approval. After a visit to Skyhold and back, when arriving at Skyhold again, a cutscene immediately starts.

All of your companions (minus Blackwall and Vivienne) and the advisors are found in the Herald’s Rest. Upon your arrival, the tavern bursts into cheers, and Ashariani reveals that she’s been making gifts for everyone, explaining that Vivienne already has hers and she didn’t want to come to the party and doesn’t even mention Blackwall (but implies he didn’t get a gift). Some are clothes, jewelry, weapons, and armor, and each companion has their moment of showing off their gift. Iron Bull makes note to mention that his is a pink shawl with dragon bone accents, and he loves it. Ashariani then tells the Inquisitor she arranged the party and they had a gift of their own, which is a powerful set of armor. You can:

accept the gift and thank Ashariani / accept the gift and flirt with Ashariani (female only)

accept the gift but shut down the party, telling everyone to get back to work

deny the gift and lash out at Ashariani for wasting so much of your time

Option 1: She will give you a hug and the cutscene will end, fading to black as the crowd sings and dances. (note: flirting with her will gain some positive teasing companion comments).

Option 2: You will gain disapproval from every companion present, mostly Ashariani. Iron Bull will try to convince you to change your mind. You can accept or deny. If denied, you will walk out and the cutscene will end with Iron Bull comforting Ashariani. If accepted, Iron Bull punches you in the arm and the mood shifts back to a good one, the cutscene ending with a fade to black as the crowd dances.

Option 3: You will gain major disapproval from every companion present, mostly Ashariani. Iron Bull and Varric will step up to defend her.

Iron Bull: Come on, Boss. She was trying to do something nice for us. 

(if in a romance with Bull): Kadan. Is that necessary? She was trying to do something nice for you.

Varric: (sarcastically) Calm down, Inquisitor. We’re all just having a bit of fun during the apocalypse.

(if in a romance with Solas) Solas: (sternly) Vhenan. May I speak to you privately?

You can then choose to apologize or leave the party without a word. Leaving the party will gain more disapproval from Ashariani, enough to completely end the friendship. If apologized to, Ashariani will put on a brave face and accept your apology, but leave the party looking dejected, earning you disapproval. Sera will exclaim, “What’s up [their] arse, huh?” and the cutscene will fade to black with companions filing out of the Herald’s Rest, looking angry/upset.

Romance Quest:

A New Beginning

(after For What?)

Upon visiting Ashariani’s normal spot, you find Varric instead. He tells you he hasn’t been able to find Ashariani all day, and he’s getting worried. Not knowing where to find her, you go to Solas, who tells you she’s swimming in a lake not that far from Skyhold. You can ask him if anything’s wrong, to which he will simply purse his lips and say, “It is not my place to say.”

The scene shifts to approaching the lake, where you find Ashariani sitting outside of the water, talking to a halla. When approached, she will become startled, then bashful, hiding her face. Tears are noticeably glistening on her cheeks. She then draws attention to the halla, petting them again. She explains that the halla’s name is Annwyl, and she was her friend back in the clan. Clan Lavellan had sent Annwyl to Ashariani for her efforts in the Inquisition, as well as some gifts for the Inquisitor, which she gives to you. You can ask her why she’s crying, to which she will respond with, “I don’t know.” You can press further or leave it be, which will end the cutscene.

When pressed further, she will get emotional, exclaiming that she’s found out her brother has died. She explains the incident and sits back down, crying into her hands. You can:

sit down next to her and talk to her (flirt)

ask her if she wants to go back to Skyhold (flirt)

leave her alone without a word (no chance for romance after this)

Whether you sit down with her or ask her to go to Skyhold, the conversation is the same: after telling you a bit about him, she asks you if she can attend her brother’s funeral. A yes answer is locked in, however she will ask you to go with her, and this is what you can say yes or no to. You can:

say yes (flirt)

say no (no chance for romance after this)

ask why she wants you to go with her

If no, she’ll nod her head and say she understands and that she appreciates the time you’ve given her to talk about him. The scene will end there. If yes, she’ll smile, and it will cut to his funeral. If asked why, she’ll tell you she holds you close to her heart and it would mean a lot to her if you were there with her. After the funeral, when you return to Skyhold, Ashariani will express her gratefulness for your support. You can then kiss her (starting the official romance) or accept her thank you and move on, ending the scene and any chance of romance.

If kissed, she will hold her hand over her mouth in shock, her face becoming red. She’ll then surge forward and kiss you again, throwing herself into your arms. You both kiss for a moment before Ashariani whispers, “Thank you,” while looking at the ground. Here you can make a sweet, snarky, or silly comment, to any of which she will smile and kiss you again. With that, she’ll grab your hand and say goodnight, holding onto your hand for as long as she can before your fingers slip out of hers. The cutscene fades to black.

(after Demands of the Qun - only if Chargers were saved)

Acquire a powerful axe for Iron Bull hidden somewhere in the Hissing Wastes. You will gain approval from both Ashariani and Iron Bull, and later, when talking to Iron Bull, will experience a cutscene where Iron Bull is thanking her for the gift.

Bianca 

(after Here Lies The Abyss - only if Hawke was sacrificed)

Acquire enough materials to craft a powerful addition for Bianca for Varric. Once crafted, equip Bianca with it. Once equipped, a cutscene will play where Varric is shooting with Bianca, showing off to Ashariani. As you walk away, Varric has a soft quiet moment where he thanks Ashariani and promises her he’ll be okay.

It’s A Date Then?

(after A New Beginning)

Acquire a gift for Ashariani and she’ll say she loves you. The gift (a pressed leather journal) can be obtained from the Dalish clan in the Exalted Plains. This will trigger a small cutscene where she expresses excitement over it and confesses that she loves you. You can say you love her too or that you’re not quite there yet, and either way she will be happy.

Cole’s reflection on their thoughts:

“So engulfed and yet, so alone. She fights and fights to stay something they could be proud of.”

“Bubbles, popping to the surface of a still lake. Change, but not too much. Warm, fuzzy feelings in her chest. Happiness is in reach, she hopes.”

Dorian: (laughs) You are simply adorable.

Varric (if in party): Oh, don’t worry, Glimmer. Cassandra just doesn’t know the definition of fun.

Sera (if in party): That’s nothing compared to our secret handshake, yeah? You should see it, Seeker. It involves our butts!

Cassandra: (Disgusted noise).

Iron Bull: You know, you’re surprisingly light.

Ashariani: Really? I didn’t hurt your shoulders?

Iron Bull: (laughs) Kid, you’d have to weigh about 60 pounds more to even make a dent on me.

Inquisitor: You really have to stop letting her ride on your shoulders during battle.

Ashariani: But it’s fun!

Sera (if in party): Can I have a go? No reason why she should have all the fun, yeah?

Vivienne (if in party): Fun does not always mean safe, my dear. I would proceed with caution when tempting fate as such.

Ashariani (to Sera): Of course! (to Vivienne): Yes, ma’am.

Solas: Do you miss home, Ashariani?

Ashariani: Sometimes. Do you?

Solas: No. Though the thought of a home to return to is a pleasant one.

Ashariani: You have no home?

Solas: (chuckles) The Inquisition is my home now. Isn’t that more than one could hope for?

Ashariani: Yeah...I guess so. I’m glad you feel at home here.

Solas: I wish the same of you, Letha’lin.

Varric (if in party): Are you guys done with the sappy, cryptic talk yet? This isn’t good material for my stories.

Ashariani: (giggles).

Leaving the Inquisition: It takes a lot to get Ashariani to leave, but if you gain enough approval, she will come to you in tears, and tell you she doesn’t think the Inquisition is the right place for her anymore. She will wish you well and ask you to tell the others she says she’ll keep in touch. You can choose to beg her to stay, in which she will, but only if you don’t net any more disapproval before new approval, or tell her she can leave.
