too cheese to go with November 1 2005 but it's tempting. Especially when we see Sam in those pilot clothes in heaven. Instead let's say...

for Sam: I think it'd be the church wedding of sorts in Sacrifice. Not for the 'wedding' but because I think he really believed Dean, for the first time in a long time, and got what it meant. Even with what came after and how hard it was. Allegedly that was May 21, 2013, and Sam may not remember the exact day (esp given the coma immediately after), and May's a hard time for them in the anniversary department in a number of ways, but I hope there are times Sam looks at the handkerchief bundled in his memory box and remembers waking up in the hospital and having Dean leaning over him, worried as always, and thinks -- nothing he'd put before me, and knows it was true.

for Dean: going with 10.23 -- again, not for how warm and fuzzy everything felt after, but just because... after all he'd done and all he'd put them both through, here Sam was anyway. It's the real honest-to-g proof of what happened to you being okay with this? // I lied. Another thing to feel guilty about and it's all wrapped up in the terror of the Darkness and all that shit but -- god, Sam came for him after all and he did everything after all and it's proof that maybe it goes both ways -- that it really, truly does go both ways, when Dean always thought this was a lopsided seesaw.

That'd be late May, too. Summer's usually not good to them, canon-wise. Even so, maybe when the days are brighter and Kansas is getting hot and there are baseball games to go to, maybe they take some days. No jobs and some time to bum around and do... nothing, but they're doing nothing together. The seesaw balanced between them. That's worth a twelve-pack and some folding chairs in the warm grass and Dean bitching about getting a sunburn and Sam finally getting to finish that book he's been meaning to get to. And then back to a motel, skin hot from the day out, and a pizza getting delivered later but for now just the bed and the a/c unit pumping cold under the window and turning toward the familiar.
