Snapchat is popular among teens for its disappearing messages, which can lead to privacy and safety concerns.

What would be the ewanverse boys’ social media of choice be if they had access to it?
Spin off question: What would they all be like on Snapchat?
Abraham - horny reply guy on Instagram. Same approach on Snapchat.
Aemond - no socials, doesn’t know what Snapchat is. Has a burner Facebook profile with the name A Targ that he uses to login to apps. The only occasion he’s ever used it properly is when Aegon changed his profile pic and Aemond left a comment saying “wow, I didn’t know you could suck in a double chin. Magic!”
Billy Taylor - has his own Twitch stream for gaming. Has Snapchat but rarely uses it.
Billy Washington - has Twitter and uses it to post the worst takes you’ve ever seen. Is a screenshot fiend on Snapchat.
Ettore - has IG and Snapchat. Sends endless unsolicited dick pics on both.
Genyen - has Facebook for the sole purpose of scamming people on Marketplace. Doesn’t use Snapchat as he doesn’t know how to turn the location tracker off.
Michael - has Twitter, gets into petty disputes with people and has to have the last word. Doesn’t know what Snapchat is.
Osferth - loves making moodboards and looking for recipes on Pinterest. Doesn’t understand Snapchat and keeps accidentally sending flower crown snaps of himself to all his contacts
Tom Bennett - posts endless thirst TikToks of himself. Has all the girlies on Snapchat sending him risqué pics.

hey! do you know if blokada works with youtube+twitch as well? tired of wanting to watch things to get ads in my face
Not sure, I don't personally use those apps. But you have options!
Use a "front-end client" app. Basically an unofficial youtube app that can fetch yt videos, comments, etc, but blocks the ads itself. For ad-free Youtube I recommend using NewPipe. For ad-free Twitch, I've heard Twire is good. (I have a longer post about how to do this stuff here. It also links to an app for ad-free Spotify Premium, if you're interested.)
Try it out and see if it works! Blokada is a filter for all your phone's network connections, so if those apps use separate connections for ads versus regular content, then you can block just the ad connections. So, open an app you want to try, (you may need to wait til you see an ad), then go to Blokada and look for connections that look ad-related. Block em and see what happens. It will either A) block some ads, B) block some other functionality, or C) do nothing. Worst case, you can always unblock the connection again. Just by toying around with this, I've discovered some domains can be blocked for Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat to reduce ads and trackers.

Hello! I already use this app and love it, but recommending it in case it could help someone else! It's called Daylio, it's for journaling and mood tracking. It's free to download and use, but there is a premium option, but I've only used the free version and never felt it was lacking. It has a daily streak incentive, mine is 1841, I've been using it since 2019, as well as some other accomplishments for various things. I find it easy to use and you can customize activities to be anything, like it comes with pre-set ones like "relax" and "friends", but you can add and change and delete them, so I also have ones like "Baking" and "excited...?". It's a nice way to look back at memories and a quick and easy place to record them. I write a lot in the notes section of the entry, but you don't have to, you can leave it blank, or add images or voice recordings (but I've never used those so I don't know how they work). And if I miss a day and break my streak, it's very easy to go and put one in for that day so my streak remains because I like it when the number goes up. As someone with memory issues, I find it a comforting habit to make a record of something everyday and these are my thoughts!! Have a great day :) !
Daylio: Mood Logging
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/89ad17418be269b1a89b1a8194a37b0c/fdb94d32d3225661-57/s540x810/d6171256b1a496285b380a6207cd3708656905ac.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2f69b0bdb47cf950c242b922509e2044/fdb94d32d3225661-ed/s540x810/b921d0c945d3516b43fe24c46429d1e82d96882d.jpg)
This is actually another app I already have the premium version for, lol. I bought it before it became monthly (Really unfortunate that it became monthly)
Rating: Certified, If what you're looking for is a mood tracker and/or diary app
does feature a to-do list daily tasks options, but it's very much a secondary feature
cute, very customizable (especially with premium), easy to use
Celebrates milestones and gives you a lovely visual overview of things.
HOWEVER: While the achievements and the streak counter and the visuals are cute (especially because you can retroactively add things to keep your streak) this app works best if you're inclined to micromanagement and willing to update it at least once a day, and personally that's not something I can keep up too long
Red flags: none, no data shared with third parties, data safety all seems good, and the app itself comes with a pin-lock if you want to be extra cautious with your entries.
Dopamine hits: So the visuals of the emoji calendar are cute and fun and a nice layout, particularly if you've got the premium and have the extra emojis, and the ridiculously high streak counter and achievements are also nice, but personally this app doesn't give me enough from day to day to keep me going. You have to really enjoy the logging process or making the streak number go up to make this work. If you're the kind of person with a really long snapchat streak, this one's for you? otherwise, eh, it can be a bit touchy.
Features + Price
Major Events: Basically pretty milestones for you to record as big letters in your diary
Mood tracking: obviously the main focus, your moods are color coded so you can view sort of how you're doing mental health wise on a pie chart, which can be really handy if you struggle with a mood disorder or want to see how certain activities are correlating with other things in your mental health. Do you always feel like ass when you talk to your boyfriend? this app might be able to help you clock that trend
Visual calendar overview: pictured above
goals: the goals checkoff is actually a must faster process than logging your moods, which is a few screens of selecting one of your preset moods and then the activity you're doing and then maybe adjusting the time. It can be a little finicky.
so this is Freemium.
Premium: 4.99 a month or 35.99 a year (USD)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5ab032eb3e6960c49a255aa5e9b237a5/fdb94d32d3225661-15/s1280x1920/f0652f2d99f97429faa9c7638b4ed46779d95d4a.jpg)
So i'll admit, I downloaded this app back before they Had important days and goals so I suppose there must be a limit on them for free users? I bought it so that I could add custom moods and track my migraines.
This app is fundamentally not really For to-do stuff. You can use it that way! But where I think i'd find this app has the most usefulness is if you're struggling with short-term mental health trends and you need something to keep track of how you're feeling and where your moods are coming from. As far as ADHD goes this is sometimes useful if you're struggling with RSD, or with sensory issues, or just not clocking which parts of your life are making you overstressed. That said, I could definitely see this working for someone who wants to keep a diary in a short simple easy way. However if you're just looking for text entries, this is also not necessarily the easiest way to do it, since it's focus is mood logging. which it is very good for! it does that job effectively! it's the other stuff it's a little eh about.
Roadmap: This app was updated at the start of this month to add easier searches, and has added a lot in the years since I opened it last, so I definitely believe they're committed to following through and keeping posted. I'm not so sure about the pricetag for premium, but if you're looking for a mood logger and the format works for you, by all means, keep on keepin on.
#adhd#diary app#mood logging#app review#review request#Ik you weren't really asking for a full review but it was on my list to do so I was like I can say words about this one

Thoughts and Observations From The Movie, Part 2/4
Welcome to part two of the silly things and fun details I picked out from the Rise movie!
My sister and I often pause the movie here to reread the options on this whiteboard for destroying the key, and it never fails to make us laugh. My one question: when and how did they test Donnie’s stomach? He wasn’t even there!
Also, feels like a callback to TummyTello, somehow. It also leaves me wondering why Donnie’s Stomach was an actual idea for destruction, regardless of whether it involves TummyTello. Guy must eat some crazy stuff XD
Further content below the cut!
“So… You’re Running Out of Ideas.” by Syr E. Piphany.
Okay, okay, bear with me- I actually have a little theory for this one. This is a screenshot from when Leo asks Donnie to locate Raph. Donnie tells him that Raph is practically- and then that he actually IS- on top of them. What I noticed here is that on this visual locator he has, none of the little character icons are oriented the same way their real life counterparts are. All six characters are in the same area and standing pretty close to each other, and I would assume that, kinda like google location sharing or snapchat location maps, you have to zoom in further on the map to get more specific locations.
This kinda sounds like it’s going nowhere, but what I’m getting at is the idea that when multiple people are in the same location, given that we know the icons will not be oriented perfectly to the people they represent, they’ll probably appear in the same orientation every time.
Which would mean!! that Donnie has intentionally designed his tracker app to have icons show up with this orientation when people are close together, furthermore meaning that he chose to put his big brother in the center of them all on purpose. As an artist myself, this could be coincidental, but very rarely are things like this done without purpose, and I like to imagine it’s a subtle way to represent Donnie thinking the absolute world of his big brother; that he would turn to Raph for guidance even before Splinter, whose icon is on the other side of the circle from Donnie’s.
I also love that the icons for Donnie’s best friend and Donnie’s “twin” are on either side of his.
And, as one last afterthought, I think this could also be a subtle nod to how Raph’s krangification becomes the center of the story and main motivator for all the characters for a huge chunk of the movie.
Does ANYONE ELSE SEE THIS?????
That absolutely looks like a masked face in the biogrowth at the top of this building. In truth, it actually looks a lot more like one of the paper ninjas than it does the Shredder, but the similarities are still there, and it works as further evidence that the Shredder and the goals of the Foot Clan were all hinged around the Krang.
Is anyone else floored by the size of this skull that Krang 1 or whatever is sitting on? I always would forget about it pretty immediately given Leo’s cheeky “surprise!” here, but this thing looks like the head of a freakin’ dragon or something. I wonder what it is? And how it got to, let alone died in, the technodrome.
One genuinely non-serious theory my sister and I occasionally talk about is the idea that the technodrome is actually a massive egg, and this was the incomplete embryo of whatever it would have become. Further non-serious evidence, which can be seen in the next images, is that the technodrome, in spite of being extremely technologically advanced, is clearly… alive, not just pure tech. Actually, everything the Krang use seems to be bio-mechanical in nature, to some degree.
It will probably be made pretty clear here that Donnie is my favourite character, just a fair warning XD But man I love this scene- one, because of the Autism-ADHD solidarity shown between PB&J immediately previous, and, two, because it’s actually a seriously incredible show of strength from Donnie.
Many fans of Rise, and of Donnie especially, also have Autism (like Donnie is confirmed to have) and/or ADHD (including myself) and understand that sensory issues mixed with New Things You Don’t Understand can be absolute hell. Like, ruins your day, renders you inactive, unfocused, nonverbal, made to be a shaking ball of anxiety, hell. Not always, but the point still stands.
Additionally, and as much as I am all for Donnie’s softshell not being seen as a big weakness because it’s natural and still more protection than any normal person has (not to mention the advantages it offers him in terms of swimming and flexibility (also probably feels really nice for scritches and sleep piles)), it actually does seem a relevant point here that this is, technically speaking, the most vulnerable part of Donnie’s body. So actively choosing to expose it to an unfamiliar and highly advanced, invasive and living technology on top of the difficulties that come with the above described neurodivergent tendencies goes against his nature in so, so many ways, but he does it anyway.
Mikey being worried about his vulnerability here, in spite of feeling out of place before, makes a lot more sense from this perspective. Knowing all that, honestly-- it just never fails to impress me.

earlier last year a regional gas station chain offered a whopping twenty five cents off per gallon. many terms and conditions applied. the one that made me scoff and delete the app right there at the pump was that location data had to be on at all times. not just when you were using the app or in a geofenced area around the gas stations, all the time. i hate people knowing where i am. i despise my data being sold. do not advertise to me. fuck off.
last year this made me briefly wonder about the loyalty programs i have with the regional supermarket chains, big y and stop & shop. i don't even want to think about whatever instacart was collecting on me much earlier in the pandemic. unfortunately i can choose not to drive as much but i really should not eat less and i do love a loss leader sale. and then i had to move again and forgot about it. earlier this week my favorite data scientists at The Markup dropped a...upsetting article on kroger's data practices, which can include in-store tracking, biometrics, facial recognition, and when shopping on kroger.com: "Third-party trackers send your product page views, search terms, and items that you have added to your shopping cart to Meta, Google, Bing, Pinterest, and Snapchat." did you know they have their own spinoff data company? for why, you might ask?
Experts told The Markup that companies that sell products in grocery stores don’t have much visibility into what happens after their items are placed on shelves. These brands want granular shopping data that only supermarkets have in order to gauge the success of the brands’ products. In recent years, this data has become harder to come by and therefore more valuable.
i try very hard not to be be doom and gloom about tech bc reporting already tends toward the hysteric, and usually there is stuff i can do or a different option i can take to avoid a package of my data being sold and linked to other packages of my data. however, it is unrealistic to leave my phone at home and pay with cash, and financially i can't afford to opt out of these loyalty programs. sucks! sucks real bad! The Markup articles are pretty good at making the american senate take notice, but they are very slow and do not always fully understand tech abuses, bc their average age is sixty fuckin three.

watching
im ticking along in adventure time, in the middle of season six, the last real long season before we get down to twenty and fourteen episode seasons. there has been an amusing string of episodes where finn and jake aren't present or are only present briefly. this show will wander off to tell the most heartrending story about a character you will never see again, and this episode will stick with you for ten years.
ive also been looking at the fandom (i know) wiki page for each episode, bc why not, and it is a very funny fan wiki. a great deal of emphasis on animation errors with the caveats that maybe the miscolored arm of a princess in episode whatever actually means there's two princesses of that kingdom and we're only seeing the second one for the first time now. whenever the show references a classic work, the note in the wiki has the tone of "ugh this weird old thing why is my show making a joke about it". if an episode won an emmy (this show won fifteen emmys btw) it is usually the very last thing on the page bc that's not lore or errors or connections to other episodes why should you care??? either a very specific type of guy or a bunch of young teens wrote this. probably a bunch of young teens that grew up to be a very specific type of guy.

playing
thank u for all ur open world rpg recs, i think horizon zero dawn is the closest thing to what i want but i will probably end up playing Prey first (which has exactly one of the many qualities i want and is not open world even a little bit) bc it is a game i actually own. but im here to say i know im having a depressive episode when im listening to a lot of mother mother and playing f/allout 4. anyway we're back at it again in far harbor, which at least contains the most interesting storytelling in the game. can we all say hello to andre, bethesda's eleventh first gay character?
coming up on this drive-in theater with an incongruous neon heart looming out of the mist and spooky music plus screams from the horror movie trailer that's been playing on loop since the bombs dropped is SO fun. nothing on the mainland is quite this atmospheric. the fog really does heighten the fun of exploration. i know dead money did it first and better but this is less dire than dead money. usually.
also i forgot they're showing a western staring Legally Not Lee van Cleef if u switch the reels. this is not even getting into the delightful enemy encounter at this location bc i have a different location i want to talk about
GOD the MS Azalea (the one screenshot that isn't mine and is from the wiki) is so fun to run around. a rusted out, ripped in half cargo ship with five different sections (guardpost, top of ship, shipping container apartments on top of ship, inner sheltered harbor within ship and floating kitchen/pool table parlor, floating bar and clinic lashed to ship entered by swimming or elevator down from the top of the ship, sheltered harbor between two halves of the broken ship. each of these sections uses vertical space in interesting ways bc the ship is so fucking big. there is a straight up House underneath that boat. and everything feels very lived in, there's clutter and signs of life everywhere. these guys are just vibing with their little stores and their little apartments. a smarter game or a game with more time would have leaned into "you were sent to kill these guys by the townsfolk bc they felt threatened by an unaffiliated settlement" but alas. the trappers on the boat are just xp.
it is very funny that the lighthouse on the south end of the island refuses to load in properly, no matter where i am
this dlc, more than anything else in the game, actually does feel like my choices matter. i do the missions for the mariner and the barricade physically changes. i do enough fairly complex quest chains for enough of the town and they decide they like me enough to go build settlements. seeing the settlement fog condensers off in the distance from across the island feels very different from the mainland, where generally your settlement's buildings don't pop in until you're pretty fucking close.
i really don't care about how big the map is, i want the main game to be this dense and this bold in telling a stories, start to finish, that feel very interconnected and grounded to its location. i am feeling a little conflicted with my playtime, bc i gotta lotta fucking bones to pick with this game, but i am having fun with this dlc. part of it is "what if fallout/the rest of the game was good" and part of it is the depression making any scrap of delight feel weird. so it goes. february will end eventually.

How do Parental Spy apps track children's online activity?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1367ed28d1a4c5edd905771be1dd6535/070b3a12d970682d-37/s540x810/ad8a50c48e06d2117978e510d405edb5a33b6d53.jpg)
Parental spy apps are a tool that give parents the privilege to track their children’s online activity. They also allow parents to control and set certain limits to these activities but that depends on the features and other factors based on which one can perform these activities.
Today, the kids are technologically very advanced. Every kid is equipped with smartphones and also has a presence on the internet. This is the reason why parents are so concerned about their safety and monitoring children’s online behavior has become crucial for them.
In this article, we will read about how these spy apps function for your child’s online activity tracking and assuring the internet safety for kids and your loved ones.
What Are Parental Spy Apps?
As mentioned above parental Spy apps are a tool with the help of which you can track your loved ones’ online activity. You can view the content they watch, the people they interact with, their real-time location. You can also block the websites that you think are not right for them and much more.
There are numerous phone monitoring apps available on the internet that you will find, some could be free while most of them would be paid apps. Usually, the free apps offer less features and security as compared to the paid apps. Also, despite offering similar services, different spy apps would have something different in them in terms of features, packages, and performance.
We will now read about the features that are commonly offered by the mobile spy apps that can help you track your child’s online behavior.
Features Of A Phone Spy App
There are many features offered by a phone spy app that are helpful in tracking your child and also allow you to take certain actions based on what the kid is doing. Let us learn more about these features.
Call Recorder: The hidden call recorder is an effective feature when you want to remotely listen to the calls of the concerned person. Not only you can listen to the calls but also get the information of the complete log that provides you the details of the other person on the call also like their name and phone number.
Location Tracker: You can remotely track your child when you want to know about their whereabouts. The GPS tracking feature shares accurate and timely information.
Social Media Monitoring: To track your child’s social media, you can use the social media tracking tool that allows you to see their activity on the social platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
Web Browser History: The websites your child visits is a major concern for parents and to ensure that, you can access their web browsing history with a spy app for android.
Website Blocking: You can block the websites that you think are not supposed to be viewed by your child by remotely blocking the site through certain settings.
Screen-Time Management: Most of the digital parenting tools allow you to manage the screen-time of your child so that you can ensure that they are not spending too much time in front of the screen.
How Are Digital Parenting Tools Helpful?
The digital parenting tools are the software that you need in today’s digitally advanced times. Digital parenting is the solution for digital children. The features mentioned above are not only beneficial when you have tried most of the resources available to look after your child when nothing works, but also when you intentionally want to monitor everything your child does on their phone.
We will discuss how these mentioned features can help in digital parenting. Starting from the call recording feature, this feature works well when your child is constantly on calls and won’t let you around them when they are talking on the phone. With the help of the hidden call recorder, you can remotely listen to your child along with the other person talking to them. Once the call is completed, the mobile spy app will store all the information on the dashboard.
The other feature that parents commonly look for in a phone spy app is the live location tracker. This feature allows you to view the real-time location of your child to ensure that they are exactly where they are supposed to be. Usually children lie about their whereabouts and that is when this feature comes in handy.
Today, every child is on social media and we know how impactful this platform is in both positive and negative ways. While some children find it cool to be on social media, other kids are there just because of the peer pressure. Whatever the reason is, the bottom line is that all the children are online. In the online world, all types of people are present and there are also people who wish to harm others digitally leading to a traumatizing experience also in some cases, so it is important that parents use the digital monitoring tools to ensure their children’s safety.
When new to the internet, kids would want to explore everything they see online. They may also see content that is not age-appropriate. Later on, this may become a habit to view the violating content that can turn into serious addiction. To ensure that they do not watch anything inappropriate, one can use the web browsing history tracker to see which websites the kids are visiting and if you think that it is inappropriate then you can also immediately block them, restricting your kids to not be able to watch any exploiting content.
The Spy App You Need
There are multiple apps available on the internet that provide parental monitoring but be sure to invest in an app that delivers results. Phone spy apps like Onemonitar has shown great results as it is one of the most trusted spy app providers with more than 60 features. There are basic to premium plans that you can choose from as per your requirements and the support team at service also guides you through the process from choosing the right plan for you to installation of the spyware.
The support team is also available through live-chats, emails and calls and if requested, they can also install the application on the target phone remotely for you. With so many facilities and features it is safe to say that Onemonitar can be the right choice for your digital monitoring needs.
In The End
The parental control apps are a valuable and beneficial tool when it comes to monitoring your children’s online activity as they give you proper insights of how your child is using the internet. It is also considered a more relaxed and approachable way to parenting in today’s times.

Rottmnt Headcannons (cuz why not?)
💙 Leo~
-Snorts when he laughs.
-Goes Mom Mode at nighttime.
Will grab a mug of coffee and peek in on all his brothers while they sleep, especially after the movie.
-A lot more tired than Donnie, he just trained himself not to yawn.
-Has Instagram and is constantly updating his profile.
-Will cross his arms and tap his foot when he's angry.
-Will just sit on the floor silently when he's sad.
-Sometimes he wishes Donnie would come and Turtle Pile with him.
-Will be pesky and annoying just to distract everyone from the trauma.
-Very observant and can pay close attention to detail if he pleases.
-Is absolutely heartbroken when Donnie says they aren't twins.
-Absolutely. Loves. Plushies. And will steal Raph's to snuggle with at night.
-Definitely has a unicorn hoodie and hides it from his brothers.
-Tried to convince his brothers to make a secret handshake with him but they didn't want to. (Mikey wanted to but Leo just didn't care at that point.)
💜 Donnie~
-Has the purest laugh on Earth.
-Became the funniest turtle on accident and it just boosted his bad boy image when Splinter praised him for it.
-Won't admit it, but loves Raph's plushies because of how soft they are.
-Loves cats but doesn't admit it because Leo says he like a grumpy old cat.
-Installed two more trackers on Splinter after the movie.
-Will stick close to Raph, a signal for a needed hug, when he is frustrated or overstimulated.
-Has a weird thing with fingers.
Will squirm is he sees someone bend them back to far or crack their knuckles.
-Has secretly given April permission to touch his shell when needed.
-Sometimes craves validation from April since she is a big sister to him, and an older person figure.
-Has all the social media apps.
-Is incredibly observant and takes note of everything.
-When he says he records everything, he records EVERYTHING. His systems recorded the moment Leo was beaten in the Prison Dimension, and Donnie had to sit in his lab for days to recover after coming across it the day after the invasion.
-Has to reapply his eyebrows every week.
-Boasts to his brothers about his eyebrows.
❤ Raph~
-Has plushies. And not just a few.
-Used his big blanket as his pretend shell to retract into then his brothers did so with theirs.
-Is jealous that his brothers can retract into their shells when he can't.
-Has to stay in physical contact with someone so he won't perish, especially after the movie.
-Always super duper scared for his brothers.
-Likes the idea of Donnie's trackers, although he never says it aloud.
-Secretly becomes scared, out of sadness, when his brothers or Splinter yell at him.
-Had to learn the hard way that his brothers could protect themselves, and came up with the training idea.
-Enjoys being the caretaker of his brothers.
-Partially mad at Splinter for ditching them.
-Loves when Donnie performs musical numbers when they watch movies.
-Asked Mikey for help when figuring out how to use social media. (poor thing!)
-Crushed every single one of his 27 phones, either from mistake or outright anger, and Donnie has completely lost it, being the one to make all the phones.
-Is the mom when they go out to eat.
-Doesn't have amazing hearing, either from screaming his ears out or born with it, and is conditioned to yelling loudly without making his ears bleed.
-He knows his family loves how incredibly sweet he is, and he loves that.
💛 Mikey~
-Has Wattpad, Tumblr, Snapchat, Tiktok, ProCreate and Pinterest.
-Appreciates his brother's hugs and always claims that they strengthen the family bonds.
-Loves painting April's nails and doing her hair.
-He knows he intimidates his brothers with Dr. Delicate Touch and absolutely loves it.
-Will help Raph name his plushies and arrange them on his bed.
-'Assigned' everyone plushies.
-Has books lining his wall about art, animals and pshycology.
-Became the family therapist because he wanted something to make him stand out. (and because he noticed everyone's insecurities)
-Frighteningly observant.
-Clingy, but takes it to a whole new level after the invasion.
-Helps Casey choose clothes after the apocolypse.
-Helps Donnie save money for the fam.
-Does graffiti all over the lair and on his train car.
-Got a huge plushie for Raph once.
-Chose short mask tails because he wanted to be like Donnie.
-Will paint on his brother's shell sometimes. (Not Donnie's! Don't worry!)
-Thought Raph was the parent when they were younger and was extremely confused when he was forced to learn that Splinter was the Father.
-Get's stickers from April every now and then.
TELL ME IF I MISSED ANY! Have a lovely rest of your day, friends! 💕

Hi TikTok and Xiaohongshu (REDNote), user here! Yes, everyone is having a genuinely good time! Also, I want to point out the on-coming boycotts!
With the looming TikTok ban (which has the American users pissed because "this is your first concern" instead of the other pressing issues in the country), many users suspect this ploy that was very clearly devised at least in part by USAmerican Social Media CEOs to get more users to use their applications, and more frequently to continue to steal, sell, and manipulate data and users alike; including the new roll-outs of removing fact-checking, including community notes, and stealing all imagery (especially art) for AI training on META apps.
As a result, many users are pressing and imploring to delete/stop using all such apps. These include: Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Threads, Whatsapp (and other variants such as Whatsapp Business or Messenger Kids, etcetera). They are also lobbying to leave Twitter/X.com, especially with his recent political actions (which many users were already doing, but they're lumping it in with META/USAmerican data-stealing mediums).
This is to show that (especially with their censorship) the "US" social media applications are not going to corrupt and continue to brainwash the American people. Instead, users will flock to where the USAmerican government can not just "buy" their data so easily.
Many social ecosystems are about to be flooded with an influx of users, which will be highlighted with the use of RED Text.
The proposed replacements include (but are not limited to), as well as their confidence:
TikTok -> Lemon8 - Lemon8 is owned by TikTok's parent company ByteDance Ltd. It connects to your TikTok account and transfers your followers/following, but that is it. Opinions are shaky, as many believe that with the fall of TikTok, ByteDance (and Lemon8 by proxy) will be just as likely to fail, especially as a replacement app.
TikTok -> Snapchat - Snapchat is an app that prides itself on privacy and temporary. A walking bout of FOMO, which also drives its user base into using it for personal rather than social media. Users are not confident in this, despite its laxness, due to its temporary snaps (posts), location trackers, and difficulty finding others in seemingly a sea of people that you also can't find.
TikTok -> YouTube - With their new 3-minute video feature, YouTube is trying to flock users over much like how Instagram tried with Reels. However, much like Reels, YouTube is dependent on the cross-posting of TikTok users. Without it, many users weren't ever likely to use YTS (YouTube Shorts) in the first place. Now that it's being banned, confidence in YouTube is plummeting as its age of ads and advertisement at every turn has been pushing users away for years now.
TikTok LIVE -> Twitch - Many streamers are shifting over to Twitch to do their streams. Confidence in this app as a streaming platform is high, even if the rules will take some getting used to. Twitch is an affluent and popular site already, and most of the refugees recognise and know it well.
TikTok -> Xiaohongshu (REDNote) - The USAmerican "Fuck You." Xiaohongshu (REDNote) is the Mandarin Chinese social media and e-commerce equivalent of a variety of apps; namely Instagram. Unlike Douyin (TikTok), which focuses mainly on video-form media, Xiaohongshu hosts a variety of post mediums, including pictures and text notes (posts). Its userbase is widely (70% or more) Gen Z or later (1990 onward) and claims a userbase of over 70% female as of 2020 reports. Many users are interested in the app, which prides itself on authentic user-generated content, as opposed to the ad-filled, AI-fluenced social media applications of today. They give voices back to truly talk about your interests, and TikTok refugees are noticing. Many users are highly confident in Xiaohongshu, based not only on the flooding influx of users but also on the calls to learn and teach one another. Many videos and LIVE performances on TikTok are teaching users how to navigate the app and how to say common slangs in Mandarin to better fit in with the local scene.
TikTok -> Neptune - This app has not launched yet, but heralds itself as a replacement to TikTok that is woman-owned and refuses to touch AI-generative media.
—
Twitter/X.com -> Bluesky - As many of you here on Tumblr know, Bluesky is being flocked to as an alternative to Twitter/X.com. Believe it or not, this app is also leading to new users learning and interacting with new languages due to its "all languages" feature in the explore section being a default, forcing users to either interact with it, or select their choice of language in the drop-down, which may take an extra step and a lot of adjustment for newer users. Confidence is high in Bluesky, as many users began to migrate to it previously and have grown accustomed to it and gotten comfortable on the app.
—
Instagram and the like have no immediate replacements at this time, but:
A). Instagram was slowly becoming a copycat anyway and can likely be replaced by Xiaohongshu as well.
B). No one really uses most other META apps like Facebook/Messenger these days.
C). Whatsapp is likely to be replaced by Signal or the dozens upon dozens of privacy encrypted text applications.
I find it so funny, in light of TikTok’s imminent American demise, that even now they aren’t considering moving to tumblr. The last two social media refugee crises (Twitter -> X and whatever happened with Reddit) prompted a wave of wide-eyed new baffled tumblr users to flood this app and yet last I heard all of the tiktokers are flooding en-masse a Chinese social media app. That is entirely in Mandarin. Instead of moving to tumblr.
