ye old king of Denmark
So I was doin my scholarly shit. And abusing google looking up GOW character and seeing if they held any significance in Norse mythology. Some do actually, very excited for story writing. Then I did some quick research on the best mortal boy Skjoldr. He’s the king of Denmark, very nice, HOWEVER, apparently, he’s a son of Odin and I WHEEZED. I don’t think him being a son of Odin is even HINTED at during the game.
it made chuckle at the thought that Skjoldr is only son of Odin who is fucked up in some capacity purely he doesn't know Odin is his father and Odin doesn’t know he has a son in New Midgard. So, is he technically a demi-god? Bruh his crush Thrud tho. I thought it was cute now I’m just like well shit bruh.
From fanfiction writing POV, it would be interesting for Skjoldr to discover this part of himself, go on a whole ass journey, embrace this new part of himself, be a better king than Odin. And also get up to god-like shenanigans with his friends. Dam I wanna write it now, he doesn't get enough love anyway. Imma do it.

WIP Wednesday
Tagged by @skyrim-forever I have a lot of WIPs but it’s all spoiler. I even have to edit this part here. ;v; anyways. Please enjoy! (I’ll get to reading when I can. I can barely concentrate on this here lol.) this also includes one of my favorite SKÁLD songs. This is the ending of chapter 5 for Hunt of the Blood Moons. Sifkni is in the Hunting Grounds. So….. yeah!! >:3c and have a wip art of Saoirse in her Wereleopard form!
Gonna tag @umbracirrus @thequeenofthewinter @madamefluffnstuff @bougainvillea-and-saltwater @oblivions-dawn
@pocket-vvardvark @theoneandonlysemla @mavariel @illumiera and anyone else I also feel like I forget people and it’s not intentional! Please feel free to tag me back!
They walked through the endless darkness. Sifkni looked around. They were so far from their first fight. So far from [Redacted]. So far from [Redacted]. [Redacted] continued walking. She was about to open her mouth and speak when a familiar melody reached her ears. She let go of Farkas’ hand and ran past [Redacted], following the sound. Tears welled in her eyes when the smell of wildflowers and wheat fields hit her.
‘Sól er skýja skjöldr ok skínandi röðull. Ísa aldrtregi, rota siklingr*.’ A soft voice sang in the distance, growing louder and closer with each footfall.
The words were ancient. Nordic. About winter's end. About Yule. A song her mother sang frequently for her.
Sifkni joined in and sang softly. ‘Þá man sól renna upp, þá man sól renna upp.’ She sang louder as she got closer. ‘Þau munu líta til sólarinnar, rota siklingr**.’ She sang between loud sobs. A familiar figure sat on a cliff, overlooking the forest below. They silhouetted against the red moon. Sifkni knew it was her.
Her mother.
Ilfhil.
The sun is the shield of the clouds and a shining light. Destroyer of ice, master of the wheel.*
Then the sun will rise, then the sun will rise. They will look at the dawn, master of the wheel**

Some Atreus love. (Ambrosia)
Felt like writing some time skip Atreus stuff! I have no idea if this is even canon in the AU. It just felt weird to leave him out of the last fic for so much of it, so I had to dabble in what he’d be like in the AU. That’s right baby we’re doing AUs of the AU now! 🍞🥐🫓
Spoilers? Maybe? Idk 🤷‍♀️
Atreus and Thrud sat together on the worn wooden bench outside their school, the midday sun warming their faces. Thrud finished off her soda and with no hesitation, lay her head down onto Atreus’s lap. He glanced down at her with a raised eyebrow but continued peeling the orange in his hands, his fingers deftly pulling away the skin in long strips.
Thrud, lazily lifting her hand, signed, •I need your science notes. Forgot mine•
Atreus rolled his eyes, a familiar reaction, and kept peeling the orange. He was used to this by now — her last-minute requests, her confident demands that always felt more like statements than questions.
•Please?• she added, batting her eyelashes exaggeratedly from his lap.
Atreus finally smirked and glanced down at her, shaking his head. He signed back, •You're impossible.•
Thrud just grinned, shifting slightly to get more comfortable. After a moment, she raised her hands again. •Are you coming to my volleyball game this weekend? I'm going to destroy the entire team.•
Atreus hesitated, then set the orange on her forehead with a gentle plop. Thrud's eyes widened in mock offense as she watched him sign. •I can’t. I’m working at the bakery this weekend, I told my dad I’d help him replace an oven.•
Thrud visibly groaned, rolling her eyes. •Ugh, fine. I ought to report your dad to my dad for child labor violations.•
Atreus huffed a laugh, a breathy string of sounds he felt embarrassed to expose around other people. Thrud immediately looked up at him, a soft expression and an even softer smile fanned across her face as she watched him.
He picked the orange back up from her forehead. Thrud, not missing a beat, belched loudly in his face and then blew her breath at him like she was blowing out birthday candles. Atreus wrinkled his nose, signing, •Gross.•
Without warning, he ripped the last of the peel from the orange and dropped it directly onto her face. Thrud winced, then burst into laughter, swatting at the peel as it fell into her lap.
The way she laughed, though he couldn’t hear it, filled the space between them. He could see the joy in her eyes, the way her whole face lit up, and for a moment, he wished he could know that sound.
He felt caught between the comfort of their friendship and something heavier—something he couldn't quite name but felt growing all the same.
Atreus popped a slice of orange into his mouth and handed another to Thrud, who took it without hesitation and popped it into hers. They continued like this, passing the fruit back and forth in comfortable silence until Skjöldr trudged over. With a heavy sigh, he collapsed beside them, his disheveled hair and slumped posture speaking volumes.
Thrud glanced up from Atreus’s lap, signing and speaking aloud for Atreus’s benefit, “So? What did you get?”
Skjöldr groaned dramatically before suddenly raising his voice with mock enthusiasm, “One hundred!”
Thrud signing everything to Atreus.
He pulled out the crumpled test from his backpack, revealing the harsh reality: a bold red “32%” scribbled at the top.
Atreus couldn’t help but smile, signing quickly, •It’s alright. You did your best.•
Thrud, always quick with the banter, laughed and signed her own exaggerated version to Skjöldr, “Atreus says it’s not your fault you’re an idiot.”
Skjöldr huffed in mock offense, crumpling up the test and throwing it at Atreus’s head, the paper ball bouncing harmlessly off. He then reached for Thrud’s hands, helping her to her feet with ease.
As Thrud laughed and bantered with Skjöldr, Atreus watched their lips move. The words didn’t reach him, not through sound or sign, and he felt the subtle, familiar sensation of being on the outside looking in. Their private conversation hummed between them, and for a moment, he was invisible.
Thrud turned around and caught his gaze, signing quickly and with a grin, •Don’t forget the notes.•
He nodded, the slight smile on his face fading as he watched the romantic couple walk away hand in hand.
Atreus sighed deeply, tilting his head back to stare at the sky. The clouds drifted lazily overhead, and a cool breeze brushed against his face. He savored the feel before the buzz of his phone interrupted the moment.
Pulling it from his back pocket, he saw a text notification from his dad. Atreus rolled his eyes, already expecting a reminder about work or some chore. But just as he was about to read it, another notification appeared at the top of his screen. This one from Sindri. Without hesitation, he swiped his dad’s text away and opened Sindri’s message, leaning forward in anticipation, his heart beating just a bit faster.
