Isle Of Paradise Sunny Serum Bronzer* This was one of those products I kept seeing everywhere in 2024. Even the skincare queen herself, Caroline Hirons, called it a must-have! But I resisted until winter arrived when I didn’t always want to wear foundation, but I still wanted my skin to look healthy and radiant, so I finally gave in and bought a bottle. And let me tell you, I honestly don’t know…

Hey guys,
As we all know by now Kylie Cosmetics has recently launched in the UK and in previous posts I chatted to you about the lip kits and liquid lipsticks I picked up and today I wanted to chat to you about the face powders in the collection!
In her cosmetics range you can currently purchase blushers, bronzers and highlighters so I decided to get 1 of each to test out. Now this Kylie Cosmetics collection are products with the new clean vegan formula and a lot of people have said these new products are way more pigmented the original. Unfortunately I never got to try the original products but I'm happy to hear that people who have used these products previously are happier with the new products.
Let's start off with blusher, I picked up the shade Pink Dreams Pressed Blush Powder - Instant flush on cheeks ,£18.00. Kylie's blush formula gives you a lasting velvet-matte flush of colour with buildable coverage. It has a lightweight formula that applies smoothly on the skin and blends really easily into makeup. Pink Dreams is a gorgeous warm toned light pink shade and like we said before has a buildable formula so if you want to brighten your cheeks you can or if you like a suitable hint of colour you can do that with a light hand. Straight away you can tell these blushers are very pigmented and the first time I used it, it blended into my foundation effortlessly and brought some colour back into my fair complexion.
Next up we have Warm It Up Pressed Bronzing Powder in the shade Khaki , £20.00. This bronzer gives your skin a sun-kissed colour in a velvet matte finish. You can use this powder for bronzing and contour. It has a buildable formula so you can decide how much pigment you want on your complexion. I use this powder with a light hand on start on my cheek bones and then lightly dust the colour on my cheeks to give me a little extra colour. Even with a light hand these powders are so pigmented that a little goes a long way. Like the blush is blends into my makeup like a total dream and I am obsessed with it.
Lastly we have the Kylighter Illuminating Powder All-Over Instant Glow in the shade Ice Me Out , £25.00. This was the product I was most excited to try out. This highlighter has a unique gel-to-powder formula that highlights skin while smoothing it all at once. The shimmer in these highlighters are crazy pigmented and the lightest application can highlight your cheek bone beautifully. It has a really easy formula to work around with and blend or build up to create your perfect shine. Unlike other powder products this formula doesn't cake up your makeup or show texture on your complexion. This silky formula comes in various shades and I will definitely be buying more shades in the near future.
And there we have it the Kylie Cosmetics Face Powder products from her recent relaunched collection! I am obsessed with this formula and adore the finish it gives my skin. I would really recommend trying out her new formulated products because so far the products have been amazing and blend like a dream. To check out her full colleciton head over to here website:

Lots of love

The Best Bronzers for Every Skin Tone, According to Makeup Artists
Blush isn't the only makeup product that gives your complexion an instant pick-me-up. A sweep of bronzer on the high points of your face creates subtle definition (hello, cheekbones) while also adding a beautiful, allover warmth that will trick people into thinking you just got back from vacation — save for the sun damage. Albeit, much like foundation and concealer, bronzer can go catastrophically wrong if you don't find the right shade for your skin tone. As a general rule, you want to steer clear of any bronzers that look too orange or gray, as these tones can make you look unnaturally tan or washed out. (That, and it's always a good idea to check out how the color looks in natural light to ensure it's a spot-on match.) Since we know how confusing it can be to determine your exact skin tone and its undertones, we tapped makeup artists who bronze faces on the daily to share their knowledge on this beloved beauty fave. Ahead, check out their expert picks, plus the tried-and-true methods they use to find the perfect shade for every client. Cheers to the glow up.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Fair Skin Tones:
People who have very fair skin tend to shy away from bronzer, as it can be tricky to find a shade that won't come across too orange or too muddy, but just a couple of simple guidelines will get you glowing, no matter how pale your complexion is. Makeup artist Elisa Flowers recommends looking for one just a shade or two darker than your natural skin tone and always, always using a light hand when applying. What's more, she suggests trying on the color before buying — preferably in natural light — to ensure it doesn't look unnaturally stark.
Tumblr media
Dior Diorskin Mineral Nude Bronze Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder
Flowers cites one of her favorite bronzers for pale-skinned people as this beaut by Dior, which comes in six shades, including this one (001 Soft Sunrise), which is the lightest shade of the bunch. "This glow-y, mineral bronzer is so pretty on fair and very light skin," she says, explaining that it's especially ideal for those who have rosy tones in their complexion. "Simply buff it lightly across the forehead, cheeks, and along the jawline to softly warm up the skin," she adds.
$48 (Shop Now)
Tumblr media
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Color
New York City-based makeup artist Ingeborg recommends this bronzer from Chanel's Les Beiges line, which offers amazing options for people with extremely fair, near-translucent skin. "It's so, so subtle, but instantly makes your skin look so healthy-looking," she says. Flowers is a fan, too, and says shade N10 is best for those with cool undertones, while N20 works on warmer tones. "This bronzer not only provides sun protection but illuminates skin and helps to set makeup," she adds.
$58 (Shop Now)
Tumblr media
For Light to Medium Skin Tones:
Those with light and medium complexions can also benefit from choosing shades one or two decimals darker than their natural skin color. You also want to look for options that aren't overly cool or warm, but neutral, in order to get the most natural-looking glow possible. "Be sure to avoid bronzers that appear overly orange or red-toned in the pan, as it will only come across more intense when you apply it to the skin," says Flowers.
Tumblr media
Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Bronzing Veil
"Light and medium-toned skin will not be disappointed with Kevyn Aucoin's The Celestial Bronzing Veil," says Ingeborg (and without hesitation, I might add). "This formula contains metallic pigments that blend seamlessly into skin with a sweep of a fluffy brush, giving a glow as well as a soft bronzey look," she adds. This is a lovely option for those who don't mind a little bit of shimmer, as it almost works as a highlighter and bronzer in one.
$48 (Shop Now)
Tumblr media
Kristofer Buckle Exposure Matte Warming Powder
Kristofer Buckle's Warming Powder is one of the most natural-looking bronzers we've ever tried (and hit pan on). While there's only two shades — light and deep — neither look overwhelming on the skin, as it goes on incredibly light and can be built up to create a beautiful warmth that's neither orange nor muddy. I used it in my foundation routine for facial redness, should you be interested in seeing what it looks like in the flesh.
$35 (Shop Now)
Tumblr media
For Tan Skin Tones:
People with olive-toned skin can get away with wearing most bronzer shades as long as you don't stray *too far from your natural skin color. Flowers says to look for terracotta tones that have a hint of red to them, as they look beautiful on tan complexions.
Tumblr media
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt & Highlight
For those with medium-to-tan skin tones, Ingeborg highly recommends giving Charlotte Tilbury's fan-favorite Filmstar Bronze and Glow a go. "Not only is it a beautiful bronzer, but it's a great contour and highlight, too," she says, adding that it's not too orangey and it blends easily, so you don't have to worry about awkward streaks or patchy areas. "It's so stunning," Ingeborg raves.
$68 (Shop Now)
Tumblr media
Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion Bronzer
Make Up For Ever's Pro Bronze Fusion is an innovative, waterproof, gel-to-powder formula that comes in six shades and two different finishes: matte and iridescent. Flowers says, "I recommend 30M Natural Matte Sienna on olive or golden skin tones, as it just gives the healthiest-looking glow to the skin without being too overpowering."  She also says to be careful not to apply too much, as a little goes a long way with this one.
$36 (Shop Now)
Tumblr media
For Dark Skin Tones:
It should go without saying, but it's definitely trickiest (and unfairly so) for those with dark and deep complexions to find a suitable bronzer, as there are fewer options on the market that cater to them. That being said, there are some brands getting it right. Ultimately, your best bet is to look for ranges that offer deep shades that will not only show up but add a gorgeous glow to the skin, like the ones ahead. Nothing beats trying them on to see how they look in natural light.
Tumblr media
Guerlain Terracota The Bronzing Powder
One of Flowers's must-haves for dark skin tones is the classic Guerlain Terracota Bronzer in the shade 009 Intense. "It has a silky feel, is super buildable and great for deep, golden skin tones," she explains, noting that it's also extremely moisturizing and pigmented. Something to consider when you're trying it out for yourself: "The even numbers represent cool tones and the odd numbers represent warm tones."
Tumblr media
Becca Sunlit Bronzer
Flowers suggests this bronzer from Becca for those looking for some subtle sheen in addition to warmth. "Ipanema Sun is perfect for warm, golden undertones and Maui Nights works great for those with reddish or sienna tones," she explains. "Sweep it across the highest points of the face to create a gorgeous glow and a touch of color."
$38 (Shop Now)
Tumblr media
Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder
"For a little more of a rosy, caramel shade, try Bobbi Brown's Bronzing Powder in Deep," says Flowers. "It's a soft, matte formula with buildable coverage and a perfect balance of color between red and brown." If you're looking for more bronzers for dark skin tones, we've got you covered in our extensive review of several options.

The holidays season is nearing, and everything in town dressed up with baubles and fairy lights. You may want some glitters for you, don’t you? Jolie Beauty has listened to your seasonal wishes with its Bomb Dot Com 24 shade glitter palette…
Tumblr media
You can recreate that jolly atmosphere with your makeup looks and the help of this explosive glitter palette by Jolie Beauty.
Tumblr media
Jolie Beauty Bomb Dot Com 24 shade glitter palette: product & package
It’s a real glitter bomb! Jolie Beauty Bomb Dot Com is a makeup palette with 24 pressed glitters safe to use on both eyes and face. This palette is featherlight and comes with a matching protective sleeve. Its package runs over you with a light beam: the whole palette is rose gold and a finelly glittery to the touch, inside and out. It has a magnetic closure and a large mirror inside.
Tumblr media
Texture and formula As all Jolie Beauty products, the Bomb Dot Com palette is cruelty-free and vegan. These cosmetic-graded glitters are pressed into singular pans in a clear base. In some shades, this base feels pleasantly cooling and with a jelly texture. The clear base eases the application and minimises the use of glue, other adhesives or creamy products, even though I highly suggest them (see how to use). Of the 24 shades, 23 are made of micro shimmery particles, that an optical illusion makes them look varying in dimensions (see chart). Sugar is the only shade in this palette with a crystal-like texture due to its chunkier glitters.
Tumblr media
How to use: It may sound straightforward, but these glitters need some instruction: apply the glitters with a synthetic flat brush, preferably with a stiff texture, and tap them over your lids or skin until you get the desired intensity and coverage. The colours can be overlayed; put on the top of a coloured cream base or dabbed with eyeshadows and pigments to intensify the colours and effect. When it comes to glitters or very dark eyeshadows, it’s always better to start from the prep and eyes first. Once the eyes are ready and sparkly in glory, remove any fallouts with a face wipe and continue with your base.
Tumblr media
Glitter removal: carefree as a sip of bubbles. Cheers!
Tumblr media
… and how to remove: These glitters can be removes swiftly with any makeup remover wipes. If any glitter falls later on, when the face is ready, some washi tape comes in handy. I recommend this Japanese decorative tape because it’s sticky but gentle. I also suggest attaching the washi tape to the back of your hand to dampen its stickiness as a good practice.
Tumblr media
COLOUR CHART
24 shades… too much for a single Valens-style post! Here’s an easy chart to define every and each shade.

  In short, this palette has many bright colours mainly in the blue and red spectrum but lacks dark shades, except for Cocoa, a very intense brown. These glitters have a crazy metallic finish and, interestingly, a portion of this palette has a ‘watershine’ effect, an iridescent and holo shine. Some shades, like Disco, Golden Tickets and to some extent Just Jolie, can be dabbed until creating a metallic foil effect like a pigment. This ‘trompe l’oeil’ (a French, hence chic, way to say ‘optic illusion’) is due to the glitters being heavily packed in their clear base. Most of the glitters, instead, look sparse and need more layers.
Tumblr media
PROS:
it’s vegan and cruelty-free;
(23 out of 24) the glitters have a fine in texture;
(23 out of 24) the glitters are very gentle to the skin;
very shiny;
easy to remove;
relatively easy to work with;
have a buildable coverage;
have different finishes;
the package is sturdy yet light;
includes a large mirror.
CONS:
a sticky base is always needed;
one shade is grittier and harder to use;
(lack of dark shades).

If I could describe this palette with an image, I could say it’s a loud and instant party! The ace in the hole: when you need something spectacular and shocking, this palette has it. The Bomb Dot Com palette comprises 24 shades for a total of 19.2 grams at a regular price of £27.99 online at JolieBeauty.com (now at £20.99 for the extended Cyber Monday and payable with Klarna small payments).
Tumblr media
I played around with this palette because it’s made for that! I created two sparkly looks for the holidays I want to share with you. Nice or naughty, how are you going to be these holidays?
When I think of glitters, Christmas tinsels come to my mind. For how much it may sound typical, I still like and wear glittery eyeliners. I made this daytime ‘nice look’ with an organic white kajal (L’Avril Blanc Lunaire) as a base where to stick three glitter shades from this bombastic palette: Rosy, Regal and Amazon. At the bottom of the lower lash line and right at its centre, I dotted Firefly with a pinch of Just Jolie to add an unexpected drop of light in this simple look.
Tumblr media
A paired this with fuller and bright lips: Lord&Berry Ultimate Lip Liner in Vintage Rose with a touch of MCo. Beauty Peachy Gloss.
Tumblr media

(waterline) Lips: Lord&Berry Ultimate Liner in Vintage Rose + MCo Beauty Peachy Gloss (centre)
If this is for the day, what would be my night holiday? Get naught(ier) with this glittery crease. The neutral eye base created with MannaKadar Beauty Goddess makeup palette has been spiced up with a reddish glitter liner (Cherrybomb) to which a sharp crease connects (Cocoa).
Tumblr media
To keep these shades in place, I used the same white kajal as a guideline and base for winged eye and an e.l.f. brow pomade from an eyebrow kit to fill in the crease. I created a light point in the inner corner with Disco, and layered the glitters several times and topped with coordinated eyeshadow palettes (from MannaKadar Beauty Goddess palette and Forgive Me Suzie x Birchbox red/gold/copper eyeshadow palette). With such dramatic eyes, I dressed my lips with a caramel gloss by Neve Cosmetics (Venissage in Dama con l’ermellino).

Nice or naughty is such a subtle difference, a thin line of glitters…
It’s all about eyes but my face has something interesting: for the day makeup, I used Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder Bronzer and Blusher Latte+Rendezvous. The night look includes the combo Latte+Flushed. There’s more! This review wants to be a preview of the new launches from the Second Skin Collection: the highlighter Dreaming for the day look and Saintly for the night. Trust me, these newest highlighters are as light as the Second Skin compacts (complete review) but with an ethereal glow.
Tumblr media
‘Ethereal glow’: Jolie Beauty Second Skin Powder Highlighter in ‘Saintly‘
These glitters lasted for more than 8 hours before I could see the first fallouts, but the glitters placed closer to the crease tended to move earlier. Although a glitter glue isn’t a strict necessity, it would be very welcome, especially in case of long and lively events as New Year’s Eve. Nevertheless, with minimal expense and effort, I made both looks last longer than expected.
Tumblr media
A last look inside…
Of course, an extended glitter palette like the Bomb Dot Com isn’t for everyone and doesn’t fall into the essential makeup list, but it’s ideal for artists and playful people. I had fun and magic all over my carpet these weeks, and I will play more often with it. Even if it isn’t an essential item, this palette offers great quality and an incredible gentle touch to the skin. I simply wished for more dark hues… Holidays season is coming, and this Jolie Beauty palette is like fairy light for your eyes only!

We use contours and blushes to enhance the facial feature and we add highlighters on top of them to accentuate the contouring & beauty. Wherever you apply highlighter, that area on the skin brightens and helps in creating the illusion of symmetric or enhance angles & depths.
Where highlighters can be used?
You can apply highlighter to many areas on the body. On the face, you can use it on: CheekbonesCenter of your foreheadCupid’s bowBridge of your noseBrown bonesTip of the chinThe inner corner of the eyes You can also apply makeup highlighters to other areas on the body such as: Collar bonesCleavageLegsShoulderShoulder Blades It’s not necessary to highlight all of the mentioned areas on the face. If you want to accentuate or reflect light only on some particular areas, then highlight only that region of the face.
Types of Makeup Highlighters
Once you start using a highlighter, there is no turning back. But there are many different types of highlighters according to different requirements. Let’s find out. 1) Strobing Cream The best thing about cream highlighter is that you can also use it as an illuminating primer before applying your makeup. As they give your face a glow-from-within type of look. And they can also be applied on the cheekbones are the other area you want to highlight just by swiping it directly on the skin. You can easily blend these highlighters with the help of fingers. 2) Jelly Highlighters This type of highlighter is a new addition to the highlighter family. It has a wobbly consistency and it can also be mixed with your foundation to achieve the perfect radiance. It blends on the skin like a gel and sets like a powder highlighter. The best part about this highlighter is that it doesn’t give you a chalky not-so-blended streak. It can easily be blended with your fingers. It gives hydration to the skin and gives you a  luminescent glow. 3) Liquid Highlighter Liquid highlighters can also be mixed with the foundation to achieve the dewy radiance. A single drop of liquid highlighter is highly pigmented and a good blending is needed to get that red-carpet look. Once set, you’ll get the glistening glow like never before. Once, you have set the makeup with powder, do not use liquid highlighter over it. These highlighters are very versatile, just dab a few drops and get that beautiful shimmer. 4) Brick Highlighter Brick highlighters consist of different shades sectioned in one pack. You can choose your favorite shade of the day and apply it separately on your cheekbones. But you can also make your custom highlighter by mixing more than one highlighter or altogether. 5) Stick Highlighter This highlighter is best for everyday use and very easy to use especially for beginners in makeup. This highlighter is like a thick crayon which is a shimmery stick and can be used directly on the skin. It can also be blended with the help of fingertips. It is also travel-friendly and you don’t have to carry a blending brush with you. 6) Powder Highlighter Powder highlighters are pressed powder in a compact style. It looks similar to face compact powders with the obvious difference is that it is shimmery. It is blended with a brush and can be applied anywhere on the body. Mostly these types of strobing can be applied with a fan brush, highlighter brush, or angeled brush or whichever you feel the most comfortable with. One of the benefits of using pressed highlighter is that it gets build up easily.
Which highlighter shade is best for your skin tone?
A thumb rule of using highlighter is that the highlighter should be two shades lighter than your skin tone. Just like we select the shades of blush or foundation for the skin, it is important to select the right shade of highlighter as well to give natural radiance to the face. One of the best methods to choose the shade is to look & pay attention to yourself in nice lightning and observe the undertones of your skin. 1) Deep Skin Tone If you have dark, Olive, or deep skin tone, then shades of rose gold or bronze would work best for you. If you do not use warm shades of highlighter and use silverfish shades instead then your skin may look dirty or greyish – maybe just like the ashes from the fire. The touch of warmth in the highlighter shade will help in making your skin look fresh and the glow will help in giving your complexion a nice beautiful lift. 2) Medium Skin Tone For medium skin tone, it is recommended for you as well to avoid silver or cool shades. It might result in giving your skin a frosty & slatey look. You can wear warm shades like champagnes, gold or bronze. These shades perfectly compliment your skin tone. A hint of pink or peachy shades can also look good for some particular occasions. 3) Fair Skin Tone If you have a fair or pale skin tone, then you can go for shades like silver, pink, pearlescent, or champagne. Because you have a light skin tone, the light pigments enhance & add the beautiful radiance in your complexion. Women with fair skin tones should avoid highlighters that have warm shades. Choosing the right shades of highlighter according to your skin type helps in brightening the dull complexion and adds life to it. It provides a natural-looking lift to your face and makes it look radiant.

What is your current makeup routine?
This is a question I get asked far too many times and for ages I wasn’t bothered to answer because it’s been the same for the longest time. But as of the last few months I’ve changed my products a little bit so here goes!
Primer:
This depends on my mood at the time but I switch between Benefit porefessional, Bobbi Brown face base and Chanel le Blanc de Chanel illuminating balm
Base:
I pretty much don’t ever wear foundation. If anything, maybe once every 2-3 months. When I do wear foundation, I use either NARS sheer glow which is my HG, Maybelline fit me matte + poreless or Chanel vitalumiere aqua which is a super light foundation. I personally just love to wear concealer for places that needs concealing as I like my skin to breathe and I don’t like the heavy feeling of wearing foundation. My HG concealers are Tarte shape tape for under my eyes and any blemishes I may have and Maybelline instant age rewind for the centre of my face (nose bridge, chin and bit of the centre of my forehead). Lastly, I lightly bake under my eye area with Laura Mercier translucent powder and only powder my oily areas with the remaining product left on the brush
Eyes:
I’m obsessed with Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes, they’re honestly amazing and the colour pay off is so good! I’m currently loving the soft glam palette and I use the shades burnt orange and sienna all over my lids and then sometimes play around with the other shades depending on my mood. I always smudge under my bottom lashes the shades mulberry and cyprus umber. As I wear eyelash extensions I don’t feel the need for eyeliner but occasionally I may use a liquid liner to apply a super thin line just to make my lashes appear thicker. I wear Clinique lash power mascara religiously on my bottom lashes
Eyebrows:
I’ve been getting my eyebrows microbladed for 5 years now so they’re generally quite full but once I have on eyeshadow, my base etc my brows look quite ashy and dull so I always go over with the Ardell dark brown eyebrow powder to fill them in and perfect them to my liking. I then go in with Glossier boy brow gel
Bronzer:
Hands down Benefit hoola bronzer is the best bronzer ever made. Cannot fault it and I use this all over! Occasionally I might also use NYC sunny bronzer
Blush:
Depends on my mood but I switch between MAC melba, Hourglass mood exposure and NARS sin
Highlighter:
I’ve been obsessed with the Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder modern mercury highlighter for years now but it was a limited edition product so it’s not available anywhere. If I’m not using that I like to use BECCA champagne pop
Lips:
My everyday lip depends on my mood but my most used combo is MAC soar lipliner, Chanel lip crayon in rosy wood, Colourpop belle lipstick and BECCA malibu soleil (Chrissy Teigen collab) lipgloss. I know it’s a little excessive using 4 products but it works!
Setting Spray:
Urban Decay all nighter setting spray! Hands down can’t live without. This has been the same for so many years, I can’t seem to find anything better than this for my skin!!

Like I’ve said before Tati Westbrook is one of my all time favorite YouTubers. When I saw she came out with a Beauty Blender alternative I just had to jump on it. It’s called the Bendiful and it retails for $18 on the Tati Beauty website. From first glance it is so soft and it’s much bigger than I thought it would be. I can’t wait to try it out. I’ll be doing a review on it on Saturday.
I purchased so new J Cat Beauty makeup that I will review for you tomorrow what I got is as follows ….
Primer & Glow Face Illuminator Primer … retails for $7.99 on the J Cat beauty website and you get 1.05 fluid ounces. This primer is offered with 2 different extracts…. Licorice (which is the one I purchased) and Coconut. I tested it on the back of my hand and it’s a velvety smooth primer that adds glow to the skin with out looking greasy … I’ll be testing it out tomorrow for a better knowledge of how it makes the skin look but I noticed that the back of my hand had no glitter or too much shimmer.
HD Perfection Skinsealer Foundation …. $7.99 for .85 fluid ounces on the J Cat beauty website. It comes in 10 shades with 4 shades for darker skin tones. It’s billed as having a flawless, full coverage foundation that gives the skin the most beautiful natural finish. The shade I chose is 1 shade too dark, I chose Warm Honey and I should have chosen Sweet Buff… If I end up liking the foundation I think I will purchase the correct shade if I can’t get this shade to work for me with my foundation mixer.
Staysurance Water-Sealed/Zero-Smudge Concealer…. Retails for $7.99 for .33 fluid ounces on the J Cat beauty website. It’s billed as a light-weight, yet, long lasting concealer that combats dark circles, redness, and any imperfection for a flawless look. It comes in 16 shades with 7 shades for deeper skin tones. Again I chose the wrong shade…. I went too light. I chose Custard when I should have chosen Buff…. This concealer on the back of my hand felt thick like the Tarte Shape Tape… but it felt hydrating. This one is so thick that I have a feeling that I am going to have a problem with creasing …. we shall see tomorrow.
Aquasurance Compact Foundation …. Retails for $13.99 on the J Cat beauty website and is billed a having a finely milled luxurious, silky texture that minimizes the appearance of pores. That absorbs and balances excess oil without creasing & looking cakey. As having innovative technology with water lock system to maintain moisture within the powder and that it provides medium to full coverage for a natural flawless complexion. This powdered foundation comes in 13 shades with 4 shades for deeper skin tones. Finally I picked the right shade, it’s in the color Natural. From the swatch I can tell this is a silky smooth powder and I only swiped my finger through it 2 times to get this coverage.
Golden Soleil Baked Bornzer …  Retails for $7.99 for .35 ounces of product on the J Cat beauty website and is billed as being multidimensional and light as air, this velvety SOLAR baked formula wears all day and won’t transfer onto clothes. The smooth texture blends effortlessly with any powder brush for buildable, customizable coverage that wakes skin up and delivers a lit-from-within luminosity. The non-dusty and non-drying color stays true and even for hours without oxidizing. It comes in 4 shades and I picked the 3rd shade in the rang, Cancun Golden Tan. This is a super shiny bronzer… I’m nervous about trying this one out all over my face … we shall see….
Blush Mallow Soft Blusher… Retails for $4.99 on the J Cat beauty website and is billed as a buildable formula with a marshmallow texture that transforms into a weightless. soft-matte powder finish for a healthy flushed cheek. It’s offered in 16 shades. I chose the shade Tutti Fluffy (a deep pinky coral). The texture is a creamy texture similar to the formula of the Chanel Soleil De Chanel bronzer. I don’t know how this will layer over a powdered face but I’m sure it will be OK.
You Glow Girl Baked Highlighter …. Retails for $8.99 for .30 ounces of product on the J Cat beauty website and is billed as a multi-dimensional baked formula that brings instant GLOW all day long due to high intense shimmer pigment. It is designed to complement all skin tones and all skin types. The smooth texture blends effortlessly and gives the perfect luminous finish that complete your look. It comes in 9 shades and I chose the 2nd tone in the range called Twilight. When i swatched this on the back of my hand I didn’t notice any glitter so I’m excited to try it…. I think it maybe a tinny too deep for me but I’m sure it will work with a light hand.
Hakari Cream Pigments …. Retails for $15 on their website, however I purchased mine on Amazon for $12.00 each and you get .14 ounces of product. I was running out of my Honey Dew so I picked up a back up and also wanted to try the shade Fairy Tale … in the swatches above fairy tale is on the left and honey dew is on the right.
Tumblr media
I ran out of my Hand Skin and Nails supplement so I needed a new one and I have a friend on Facebook that sells for a company called It Works… they sell body wraps and dietary supplements and detox teas… I figured I give her some business and she gave me a discount for $35 for a 60 capsule bottle. I’ll keep you updated on how well it works once I have used it up.
Tumblr media
Lights Lacquer Nail Polish….  Each bottle retails for $9.50 for .40 ounces of product in each bottle…. I purchased 2 single shades … Rosie and Cold Turkey and I purchased a 6 bottle bundle for $52 in the colors …. Alexandrite, Amethyst, Citrine, Emerald, Ruby, Smokey Quartz. I’ve mentioned this before but Kathleen Lights’ polish formula is my all time favorite and I am so happy to have these 8 shades to add to my collection… new Mani Mondays will be coming soon….
Well that’s all for now dolls… Stay tuned tomorrow for my full complexion review of J Cat Beauty products. Until then remember save a spoon for a bit of makeup.
XOXO
  Makeup Haul Like I've said before Tati Westbrook is one of my all time favorite YouTubers. When I saw she came out with a Beauty Blender alternative I just had to jump on it.

My reverse foundation routine for glowing skin
Tumblr media
Last week I outlined the first steps you need to take to look after your skin, so today I wanted to follow that with how to achieve natural, glowing base makeup. In the past few months, I feel that I have finally got my skincare and makeup routine exactly how I want it and I’m loving the results I’m getting. As usual, while I will be recommending products there is no need for you to go out and buy the same ones, if you have something similar in your collection it will work just fine. This look is more about the routine than the products.
The first step to good makeup is skin prep. First I cleanse my face after I wake up, then when it’s time for makeup I go in with sunscreen (read my last post for more info on when to use sunscreen in your routine), then if my skin is feeling extra dry I use a face oil (currently Go-To Face Hero), then I moisturise. Make sure all the products have had time to sink into the skin before putting on any makeup.
Now onto the makeup. First I like to prime my skin with the Mecca Max Bring On Bright Illuminating Primer. I used to religiously use the Mecca Cosmetica Lit From Within Illuminating Primer but switched because the Mecca Max one is half the price, and even though it is 30ml compared to the Lit From Within’s 45ml, it is in a tube which makes it much easier to get all the product out compared to a pump. A quick look at the ingredients shows that they are all the same, just in a different order. I honestly cannot tell the difference between the two. Now, primer is not an essential step in a makeup routine, if you have skin that is neither too oily or too dry and find that your makeup looks nearly as good at the end of the day than at the start, then I wouldn’t worry too much. Personally, I like to use a primer to elongate the life of my makeup and give my skin a glow which it can’t muster on its own. To get an even glowier look I like to mix my primer with the Nars Illuminator in Copacabana, but this is totally optional. A drugstore comparison could be the Loreal Glow Mon Amour Highlighting Drops.
This is where I start to do things a little differently. After watching this video from Samantha Ravndahl, I decided to try doing my makeup in reverse. Instead of starting with foundation and then layering concealer, blush, bronzer, etc. over the top, I start with concealer and put foundation on last. I find that this really helps give the skin a natural glowing look, as the glow really is coming from under your foundation. The only slight issue with this method is that it relies on cream products, as foundation won't layer over powder so well. If you want to achieve a glowing look then cream products are your best bet anyway, as powders can be quite matte and end up looking cakey.
First I use my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer wherever I need it, then I go in with my holy grail bronzer/contour Aphrodisiac Super Shock Cheek from Colourpop. I go quite heavy-handed with the bronzer as I want it to still be seen through the foundation. My favourite cream highlighters are the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick (I’ve been through three) and Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in Flexitarian. I focus the highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones, down my nose, my cupids bow and then use the leftover above eyebrows near my temples. I don’t often use cream blush because I’m not a huge blush fan, but if you have one that you love now would be the time to go for it.
The foundation I’m loving at the moment is the Flower Beauty Light Illusion Foundation. It has medium coverage and is possibly (definitely) the dewiest foundation I have ever used. And it’s only $14 (keep in mind the shade range is appalling, the lightest one is slightly too dark on me and there are really only two darker shades). Putting foundation on over other products might feel a bit weird, so when you are going over areas that already have product on I like to use more of a patting motion rather than swiping to make sure I’m not wiping bronzer all over my face. After foundation, I go back in with a tiny amount of concealer over any pimples that need covering, and then if I want to go back in with a bit more highlighter I will. I use powder simply because my foundation does tend to wear off during the day and the dewiness of the Flower Beauty foundation doesn’t need any of my natural oils to make it any shinier. I am currently using the Flower Beauty Miracle Glow Satin Finishing Powder which I love, but the packaging is ridiculous. It is about half the size of my head, the lid is difficult to remove, and it is incredibly messy.
Now, I know I said before that I wasn’t a blush fan, but I may have discovered the perfect palette for people who are scared of blush like me. The Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Golden Sugar is divine. It is a powder product, that’s why I apply it after my foundation and not before. The reason I love it so much is that the powders aren’t very pigmented at all. Some powders you dip your brush in once and its already too much product. Not with this. I swirl my brush between the top two middle shades and although you can probably still hardly tell I’m wearing blush, the glow it gives is beautiful. On top of that, it caters to a wide range of skin tones which might make you think that it won’t be any good for you because you can only use a few shades, but they make amazing shimmery/glowy eyeshadows. After blush I set my face with the Flower Beauty Seal the Deal Hydrating Setting Spray to add yet more glow and a bit of staying power.
One thing to keep in mind to get a glowing base is that you need to use a light hand, especially with foundation and concealer. The beauty of putting concealer on before foundation is that then you don’t need to pack on layers of foundation, so at the end you will get more of your natural skin shining through.
So there you have it, my weird reverse glowing base routine. If you give it a go let me know if you like it!
Until next time,
Courtney x

My affinity for beauty products dates long before my time as an editor. Back in high school, I struggled with problematic skin, so I was always on the hunt for products that would help with breakouts and makeup that would make me feel confident when dealing with them. I was alsovisiting my dermatologist on the regular to try new treatments and asked questions to investigate the science behind products I was using and how they were interacting with my skin. Since then, my skin has cleared up, but I still love testing and discovering beauty products that work for me . Between events I’m attending as an editor, products I’m sent from upcoming launches, and trips to the store to test out buzzy items I want to get my hands on, I’m constantly trying out new beauty products. What that means is that my bathroom has become the testing grounds for upward of a hundred beauty items each month. Yep, I’m constantly experimenting with the newest face masks, eyeliners, and microcurrent tools designed to resculpt my cheekbones as well as serums and jars filled with creams that promise to reverse any skin damage I have—and so much more. After all of the products I’ve tried out over the years, which ones are a part of my regular routine? Ahead, I'm highlighting 31 of the best everyday beauty products I’ve tested and personally vouch for. Whether they're luxury items or affordable pharmacy products I swear by , go on to see why of each them has a permanent place in my beauty routine. I've heard a lot of hype about this face cream over the last six months—A LOT—and was eager though somewhat skeptical to try it. But when Fiona Zanetti told me it was "literally a miracle in a bottle, I knew I had to put it to the test. After months of using it at night, I can attest that it truly is just as transformative as all of the testimonies I've read. My skin feels permanently hydrated with a dewy finish and an even texture. I'm very mindful about sun damage and I won't leave the house without wearing sunscreen. To be honest, though, I really hate the smell of most sunscreens and the weird finish they can often leave underneath makeup. This one from Supergoop goes on more like a moisturizer and less like a sunscreen, so it's part of my everyday morning routine. Shani Darden is a facialist to celebs like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Laura Harrier, who all have incredible skin. I've been using her retinol for years and swear by it. Unlike other formulas I've tried, it doesn't leave my skin red or irritated but has all of the same anti-aging properties to diminish wrinkles, improve texture, and stimulate collagen. This eye cream is a gel formula that is super-hydrating without being heavy. I first discovered this micellar water because I read it was a staple backstage at fashion shows for makeup artists and models. Ever since I first got my hands on it, it has been an everyday staple in my beauty product arsenal. It removes every trace of makeup without water, so it's great for home or travel. Truly one of my most-loved products. You used to only be able to get it at pharmacies in Europe, but now you can order it straight from Amazon. This drugstore body wash find not only smells divine but is also ideal for sensitive skin. Biba is a master aesthetician who works with celebs like Emily Blunt and Emma Roberts. I was lucky enough to get a custom facial from her last year and walked out with seriously glowing skin—but also a bag of her newly launched body lotion to try out. I avoid heavy, greasy lotions at all costs, but this one just melts into your skin. I wear this foundation nearly every single day. I love its lightweight formula that has great coverage and a glowy finish. When I want a finished foundation look for events, I always use this stick foundation from Flesh. It looks a little thick and intimidating but evens out into a great coverage with a beauty blender. I've tried a million concealers, and there is a lot that I don't love about most of them. Whether they're cakey or crease or melt away after an hour, it has been a challenge to find one that I love. After years of testing different formulas, I finally found this one from Clé de Peau and recommend it to all of my friends. La Mer may be best-known for its iconic face cream, but the brand's makeup is excellent, too. I personally love this pressed powder that launched last year. As I mentioned, I'm religious about applying sunscreen. I do like having a little color, though, so I apply Chanel's Tan de Soleil bronzer foundation with a brush or my fingers to achieve a sun-kissed glow.  I love a good highlight and swear by this NARS illuminator in the Copacabana shade. It has a creamy formula, so sometimes I'll mix it into my foundation for an all-over glow, or I'll use it on my cheekbones for a more defined highlight. I would be lost without my beauty blender. For the longest time, I didn't know how to properly use it (and later learned you have to get it wet for it to do its magic). It really does what it says: It's the ultimate tool to blend out beauty products like foundation, concealer, bronzer, or blush. I've been using this eye shadow since high school. It's the perfect base to even out my lids. I wear this during the day to add a little dimension to my eyes without wearing too much color. I've tried countless liquid eyeliners and haven't loved most of them. This Charlotte Tilbury one is excellent, though. The formula is super-inky and the felt tip keeps its sharpness after many uses. It's perfect to achieve the cat eye I wear on the regular. This brow pencil from NYX is perfect for filling or shaping brows because it has a very thin point. It works just as well as more expensive products I've tried. This mascara is a cult classic for a reason. There are a few different formulas, but I love the "Blackout version that has a super-dark hue. I never used to curl my eyelashes, but then I tried this Shiseido tool and I've never stopped. It's amazing how much it opens up your eyes. One of the best things about this lipstick is its versatility. You can smudge it on for lightly stained lips or add a few layers for a more saturated look. It has a matte finish but never feels dry, like many matte lipsticks tend to. This moisturizing lip balm is in my bag at all times. The rose scent is divine. My go-to everyday lipstick. It's the perfect subtle pink. There was a lot of hype when celeb hairstylist Jen Atkin launched her brand Ouai, but the shampoo definitely lives up to add of the buzz. I use the conditioner as well. I spray this at my roots for an instant lift when blowdrying my hair. My hair notoriously doesn't hold curl. This curling iron form GHD is one of the only tools I've found that actually works and is easy to use. Countless friends have bought this after trying mine out. I have the world's most tangly hair. I've tried countless detanglers and brushes to try to manage it, and the only thing that works is the brush from Sheila Stotts. It's truly magic. This hairspray is simply the best. It isn't stiff or sticky and lasts all day. You can't go wrong with a classic. This candle from Byredo is supposed to mimic the scent of a library filled with old leather-bound books. I know, I know—that sounds kind of bizarre, but it is truly the most heavenly candle with a scent that is warm and velvety and always fills my apartment. YSL's Cinema perfume is one I've been wearing for over a decade. The scent reads as glamorous and elegant and is something I always spritz on before an evening out. For years, I really hated the deodorant I was wearing. Some of them seemed to make me perspire more, others would leave marks on my clothes, and most had a scent I couldn't stand. Then, I discovered Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist after reading about it on Into the Gloss and I've been a dedicated fan ever since. It's truly amazing.

  There is nothing worse than treating yourself to new products, or trying something different and being completely disappointed. These are all beauty products that i regret buying.
Natural Collection Concealer (x)
I’ve used this brand before and for some things, it hits the spot. All cosmetics are £1.99, so for lipsticks and blushers this brand is a gem. I tried the concealer, i wasn’t looking for much yet i was still disappointed. The reviews for the product were actually relatively positive. In my experience,  it’s watery, there is no coverage and it doesn’t blend. I don’t believe in the phrase, you get what you pay for, but in this case it’s very true. Highly disappointed and wouldn’t recommend!
Collection Sheer Loose Powder (x)
I have a love/hate relationship with Collection. I live for the lasting perfection concealer and i really like the matte lip creams, but other than that i’ve never been too impressed. I found this concealer uneven and not subtle. The powder seemed to gather on parts of my skin and within a few hours, i was a patchy mess. It was also far too heavy on my skin. There are so many better products out there, i’ll be giving this a miss from now on.
B. Sweet Popping Candy Highlighting Serum
This is from B. which is exclusive to Superdrug, i saw this years ago and thought it looked really cool but was super expensive for what it was. It went on sale a few months ago so i picked it up for around £4. You just use it like a highlighter but i felt there was so much liquid, not only did it not highlight, it wiped away my foundation and powder which was already there. It left my skin streaky with no glow. It must be one of the most disappointing products EVER. I’m just glad i didn’t pay the RRP of £14.99! This product has since been discontinued, good idea but disappointing execution!
  Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Instant Illuminator (x)
Similar problems to the above liquid highlighter. This has a much stronger highlight but there is too much water in the liquid and it goes streaky and wipes your make-up off. I’m not sure if it’s just liquid highlighters in general, i tend to use creams, gels or powders.
    MUA Extreme Volume Mascara (x)
  I don’t know what the formula of this is, but i’m almost sure it consists of glue. It’s sticky, doesn’t do what it should and feels horrible and heavy on the lashes. It actually had a great want so i’m disappointed in this one!
  Rimmel London Kate Moss Sculpting Palette (x)
It wasn’t that this product was terrible, i just felt it didn’t live up to the hype. There are so many products like this out there, and i was disappointed in this. The palette is quite small so you have to use a smaller brush (than i normally use for contouring) so you don’t get all the colours on the brush.
The bronzer has a lot of shimmer in it, so i wouldn’t really say it’s ideal for contouring, there is more shimmer in the bronzer than the highlight. The blush is a good colour but again, too shimmery. The highlight- which should be shimmery- i found really weak and i really had to persevere to build a good colour. The three don’t go well together and it was just too much.
If you’re looking for this kind of product i’d recommend the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Face Palette in the shade Peachy Glow (x). For around the same price, you get more product which work so much better together and are more pigmented.

These are the products i’ve been disappointed in and overall, regret buying. This is of course, my own opinion based on my personal experience.

 Wedding Makeup This special date for the bride and groom, without a doubt, is also an important celebration for the guests. Get the perfect look for a day ceremony with these tips. Being a day event, a natural makeup is recommended, but maintaining certain elements so as not to lose the formality that this event demands. Avoid contouring or matte bases, as they could create a very thick layer that will not be consistent with the occasion; The tendency is to wear a lighted face. Steps ● Makeup artist Marlene Sesin recommends that “the first step is to properly hydrate the skin before applying any product, it can be through a facial or some moisturizing mask ”. DRINK UP 10 MINUTE HYDRATING MASK WITH APRICOT & SWISS GLACIER.  "As for the first, it is preferable to cover the pores and mattify the skin so that it looks more uniform and without shine in the photos," adds Marlene. The function of this product is to prepare the complexion for the base and help it last longer; That is why its use is essential, especially for events where you will be up to 12 hours with the same look. This one, from Clarins, has organic strawberry extract to absorb excess fat and results in a smooth finish, as well as reducing the gaps. INSTANT PORELESS PORE-BLURRING MATTIFYING FIRST. ● It is becoming easier to unify the skin tone, cover imperfections and, at the same time, achieve a natural and healthy appearance. Marlene's tip is to choose a long-lasting and waterproof base to ensure its permanence even when you greet many people and sweat for visits to the dance floor. It is crucial to investigate the ingredients of each product since the facts based on natural substances are better for the health of the skin. The new Guerlain base has almost entirely (97%) components of natural origin: mineral pigments, yacon juice, and cocoa bean extract. Its promise of permanence is 16 hours and best of all, it contains sun protection factors. To make up ● It is very common to make mistakes when choosing the concealer, which should always be the same tone as the base or if a smaller one. If the concealer is much clearer the contrast will be noticed too much and it can ruin the look completely. MISTER INSTANT CORRECTIVE PEN.  ● The bronzer gives a warmer look to the makeup, when applied to the jawline and cheekbones you can create a sun-kissed style, simulating the tan and natural glow of the face after a beach vacation. SUN WASH DIFFUSING BRONZER.  ● "The blush on the cheeks is recommended in peach tones, leaving aside the most protagonists, such as fuchsia or orange, which could be too flashy," adds the makeup artist.  POWDER BLUSH POTS IN PEACH PRIMROSE.  ● To achieve the luminous finish, the illuminator is essential; It should be applied on the tip of the nose and in the highest area of the cheekbones. Bobbi Brown's formula adds highlights for a glossy look. BEACH METALS HIGHLIGHTING POWDER.  ● “The last step to end the skin is to opt for a sealant powder; in this way, it will be mattified preventing the skin from shining too much and it feels greasy in the photos, it will also extend the duration of the pigments, ”adds Marlene. SETTING POWDER.  Eyes ● Let's continue with the natural tendency, the eyebrows must be well defined, but you should never fall into a very thin form when abusing hair removal. It is crucial to respect the innate form of the hair, you can remove the excess and frame it without losing its silhouette. To fill in the empty spaces, the idea is to use a gel with pigmentation that, in addition to defining them, will give them a more populated and polished appearance. DIPBROW GEL.  ● Just as the facial skin requires a first, the eyelids also need help to prevent shadows from losing intensity. Applying one of the eyes will ensure that the shade of the shadows is always the same, without lumps or folds throughout the wedding. SHADOW INSURANCE ANTI CREASE EYESHADOW FIRST.  ● As for the style of makeup in the eyes, the expert recommends leaving aside the smokey eye and dark brown and black tones that are more suitable for evening weddings, and better lean for medium brown, coral and golden tones. EYE-CONIC FROST EYESHADOW PALETTE. ● If you want to create the optical illusion of larger eyes, it is advisable to apply a shadow with glitter and in light tones in the tear and under the eyebrow, the look will be instantly illuminated. GRANDIÔSE LINER IN BRUN MIRIFIQUE 02. ● If you like the cat-eye you should use it as long as the lips are worn in nude or light pink tones; Another option is to use a brown liquid eyeliner instead of black to avoid hardening the features and loading the makeup. ● To end this area, mask tabs with curved brush are the best option; thanks to its shape it covers them from birth to the tips, in addition, this one of Dior has polymers that will help your formula to be fixed in them and will contribute much greater volume and thickness. DIOR SHOW ICONIC OVERCURL MASK.  Lips ● The final touch is provided by the mouth, and the best thing to compliment the look for a day party is a lipstick or a gloss that has a very subtle color, but at the same time provides shine. It is best to choose a color similar to that of your lips (roses, nudes, and corals) to maintain harmony in style. ● To seal and fix the makeup use a finishing spray, you must apply it at a distance of 10 to 15 cm on the face. That of Mary Kay is very cool and dries instantly, while keeping intact makeup throughout the event. Click here for more tips
