#HARPERSMOVIECOLLECTION
2023
I re-watched The Kids In The Hall: Brain Candy (1996)
Probably one of the most quotable comedies of the 1990's. Well, it would be if anyone actually remembered it.
A scientist invents a drug that cures depression and then finds himself rocketed to corporate and public stardom.
Comedies from the 1990's tend to be cheap and a tad bit ugly looking, with bright garish colors and a sort of silly cartoonish feel where the joke matters more than the style. This movie is no different. Don't expect beautiful cinematography, well shot special effects scenes, or anything really authentic looking. It's just an episode of Kids in the Hall with a somewhat linear plot, a longer running time and a slightly higher budget.
Like Monty Python's film excursions, the members of KITH play several different characters throughout the film. The writing is definitely sketch writing, as the focus jumps around to many different characters on the periphery of the main story. So, also don't expect the story to be overly solid or the characters to be more than launch pads for jokes.
What I'm getting at is this is a comedy and should be judged by how funny it is and not by it's cinematic artistry.
This movie was made toward the end of The Kids In The Hall as a group. At the time, Dave Foley had distanced himself from the group and he doesn't even have a writing credit on the film. He's in the movie, but he's not a huge presence throughout, and if you're a big fan, you can tell his style is somewhat missing.
That being said, the movie is very funny. It's ridiculous and weird and full of satire from top to bottom. Having to stick to an actual plot does hinder the Kids a bit, but they manage well.
While the movie does feel more tame and less edgy than the sketch show, there is still plenty of weirdness here that wouldn't be in any other movie by any other writers. The darkness of depression, which carries the main plot, is something the Kids have always covered. Broken fathers, mothers living in denial of their dysfunctional families. Corporate greed and public ignorance being what drives society. It's the comedy of the dark and gross and sad and it's pretty fucking funny.
This movie should be up there with Wayne's World as one of the better comedies of the 90's. When it was coming out in theaters the studio barely promoted the film and the mixed reaction from critics killed it's box office chances. Not to mention that The Kids In The Hall were yet to be recognized as one of the greatest comedy teams of all time. Which they are.
It's by no means a perfect or well made movie and, it's clearly not the best version of the Kids, but it is far better than it's reputation. It's got so many great little moments, and 9 out of 10 jokes work.....Maybe 8 out of 10, but hey that's sketch comedy.
I love the Kids In The Hall and no matter how old I get, I'll love this movie. I'm biased, but I can't help it.

Happy Klaroline AU Week everybody!
In this AUhuman! Klaroline story set during the Revolutionary War, shopkeeper Caroline is part of a notorious spy ring for the patriots. And now an annoying, smug British soldier keeps stopping by to add to her anxieties...
Tagging @austennerdita2533  - hope you like it!
“Patriotism is as much a virtue as justice, and is as necessary for the support of societies as natural affection is for the support of families.” — Benjamin Rush, 1773
Her candle shop smelled like a chamber pot. How in all of creation did that beetle-headed Victoria manage to accomplish such a feat? Caroline stomped her way into her small shop, throwing open the wooden shutters of the two small windows and shoved two large goose feather fans into the spindly arms of her clerk. Cocking her eyebrow, she said gruffly, “Thou art the one who used rancid hog fat to make a batch of candles; therefore, thou hath the task of banishing that infernal stench out of the shop!”
The girl turned to her task, murmuring apologies for her forgetfulness, and Caroline somehow managed to tuck back in her scoff of derision as she recalled that just yesterday she had patiently explained to Victoria that candles made of hog fat carried a stench most foul in addition to excessive sputtering and smoking. Instead, her shop’s tallow candles were a clever combination of sheep and beef fat, which seemed to carry a much more pleasant odor and longer-lasting light. In a huff, she finally sent her off to market for additional supplies, noting that they were running low on a number of items.
She realized that part of her bad humor had nothing to do with her irritation with her clerk’s folly, but instead her own anxiousness about what the week would bring. ‘Twas the price she paid for trafficking in secrets. Sometimes, as she walked through the market, she fancied that she carried the secrets upon her skin, that they were stained upon her flesh for the world to see. While Virginia Colony had produced some of the greatest patriots the war knew — from General Washington to Thomas Jefferson, unfortunately, her small township of Mystic Falls remained fiercely loyal to the crown. The few families who were true patriots were forced to hide their feelings about the war lest the damnable loyalists sent them to the gallows.
When her childhood friend, Matthew Donovan, sought her out in confidence, he confessed that he recently was made a lieutenant in General Washington’s Continental Army, and he asked her to pass him intelligence to aid in the war effort. After quickly agreeing, she became anointed as one of the invaluable spies of the notorious patriot spy ring, the Travelers. She became learned in the secret of the ‘sympathetic stain’, a clever form of invisible ink that General Washington instructed his agents to use in their messages. Once she constructed a coded message, she would push the paper into the bottom of a candle and smooth additional wax over it. Then, when a courier for the Travelers appeared, she would sell him a batch of candles that easily could be smuggled through enemy lines undetected.
The Travelers had had rousing success thus far, and Caroline’s secret messages revealed the surprising weaknesses of the British fort that guarded the route to Norfolk. With her help, the Virginia militia laid siege upon the unsuspecting British, and secured the fort during the Battle of the Great Bridge. ‘Twas a stunning victory for the patriots, and Caroline vowed to bring them more, despite the shadow of the noose that awaited all traitors to the crown.
As she began the tedious process of weaving together the delicate linen fibers to craft sturdy wicks, she thought back to Matthew’s latest message to her. The Travelers’ faithful courier had been intercepted and imprisoned to await a farcical trial in which the poor soul’s fate already had been decided. A new courier would arrive at her shop sometime this week, announcing his presence by uttering the phrase, “Tie it with a blue ribbon.”
She anxiously awaited his arrival as it would take her mind off of the latest influx of a detestable regiment of British soldiers who had taken residence at the local tavern, Silas’ Cure. Led by arrogant Lieutenant Niklaus Mikaelson, she took special delight in undermining his war efforts by leaning heavily on intelligence reports from her friend Katherine who worked there. It never ceased to astound her at the carelessness of a man’s words when they were in the presence of what they perceived to be a harmless woman.
Lieutenant Mikaelson himself had wandered into her shop when his soldiers first arrived, his swaggering, boastful mannerisms immediately setting her teeth on edge. Victoria had worked herself into a tizzy as she tended to his purchases, fluttering her eyelashes and swooning over his dimples. In a huff of impatience, she finally dismissed her to the back so that she could conclude the detestable redcoat’s business and shoo him out of her shop with as much politeness as she could muster.
Instead, he seemed to delight in stretching out their interaction as long as possible, commenting upon the mild weather and asking after her family’s health. She absolutely refused to acknowledge how his gray eyes twinkled with merriment at her clipped words or the pleasing way his lips seemed to curl up whenever he addressed her as ‘Mistress Forbes’. Her heart palpitations in his presence were merely the result of porridge mixed with goat’s milk that had soured. And nothing more.
As though summoned by her shameful thoughts, Lieutenant Mikaelson strutted across the threshold, wearing a devilish smirk that had her furiously fighting back the blush that wanted to stain her cheeks red.
“Good day, Mistress Forbes,” he greeted her, his dimples on display as he removed his officer’s hat in a sweeping gesture, bowing his curly head respectfully. “How fare thee on this fine day?”
Caroline hated how the breath seemed to leave her when that infernal man appeared, as though her corset was too tight and she may faint. Flashing him an overly bright smile, she quickly placed the remnants of the hardened hog lard into the large iron cauldron over the fire, the powerful odor wafting over the flames as she stirred the concoction with a thick wooden paddle. “’Tis a fine day, Lieutenant Mikaelson, but one that should be spent out-of-doors as I fear thou hath caught me on rendering day and the odors art far from pleasant.” She couldn’t help the bite in her sweet tone as she added from underneath her lashes, “We mustn’t spoil thy fine officer’s vestments with such a foul stench.”
His gray eyes twinkled as though he realized her attempts to shoo him out of her shop with haste. “Nonsense. Thou shall discover that a gentleman is willing to endure any number of trials to bask in the presence of a lovely maiden.”
She barely contained a scoff as she batted aside his empty words. She noted the exquisite silver filigree work of the fierce wolf’s head upon the pommel of his sabre, denoting him to be a man of wealth and privilege. Officer ranks such as his often were awarded based upon surname and affluence. No doubt his display of opulence and power along with his pleasing appearance drew many a starry-eyed maiden to him, and he must often spout such pretty, meaningless words.
Her calculating blue gaze swept over his fine scarlet overcoat trimmed in silver braid, a well-ballasted officer’s uniform that only served to fuel her anger when she thought of the blood of good patriots that hath spilled upon it during this wretched war. She adjusted her linen cap, pushing an errant blonde curl away from her forehead as she told him, “Thou flatter me with thy honeyed words, Lieutenant Mikaelson. I’m sure many a fair maiden anxiously awaits thy return to English soil.”
He shook his head, dimples bracketing his indulgent smile as he confessed, “None that hath caught my fancy as much as a lovely blonde shopkeeper who seems to delight in sharpening her clever tongue upon my every breath.” He reached into his overcoat, removing a small bit of parchment tied with a length of leather. “I’d considered offering thou a trinket, a small token of my esteem, but feared thy wrath if thou deemed it an insult. Instead, I present a simple sketch, and pray thou look upon it in the spirit of friendship with which ‘tis offered, Mistress Forbes.”
Heart fluttering, Caroline felt her breath catch as she gazed upon her own face with lips curled into a teasing smile as she stood at her shop’s front window, one hand resting against her cheek. She was struck speechless not only by the depth of his artistry, but also by the curious fact he would willingly share his work with her. She gently touched the curled edges of the parchment, not trusting herself to speak as her thoughts raced.
“Forgive my forwardness,” Niklaus broke the silence, a seemingly uncharacteristic nervousness entering his voice, “Thy beauty lingered long after I’d returned to my quarters and it vexed me until I recorded every blessed detail.” She watched in amazement as his ivory skin suddenly bloomed with color.
Clearing her throat, she favored him with her first genuine smile since they met. “There art no words to describe thy talent, Lieutenant Mikaelson. Thou hath my thanks for such a thoughtful gift.” She hated the feeling of regret that tugged at her. This was a British officer and no matter how handsome or earnest his attentions might be, she could never turn her back on the cause of her homeland. She must continue her work under the guise of a damnable loyalist, so that she could ensure her people’s freedom.
He seemed on the verge of asking her something, but instead straightened his spine as the brass bell over her door rang, announcing another customer. He gestured vaguely toward her pine shelves where she kept the costly beeswax candles, and asked her to put together a parcel for him. While she carefully wrapped his purchase, she nodded at Jeremiah Gilbert who stood off to the side awkwardly.
Jeremiah was Katherine’s little brother, and she always would remember the way he would follow them around begging for sweets as they traipsed through the market square. Lately he had been coming around more and while pleasant company, it always seemed as though he were delaying his leave to the point that she nearly had to shoo him from her shop so that she could complete a day’s work. A thought suddenly struck her that now that Jeremiah was of age, he could conceivably be the Travelers’ new mystery courier. Especially since his sister was loyal to the patriot’s cause.
She inwardly sighed as she watched the men take each other’s measure, and she wondered how much longer Niklaus would tarry before he was on his way. She was certain that if Jeremiah was the courier, he would possess enough sense not to blurt out the secret phrase within earshot of the British officer. His brown eyes regarded Caroline warmly as he greeted her, and he comically sidestepped the soldier to stand closer to the counter. He paused in his ramblings about the weather, wrinkling his nose slightly at the rancid smell of hog fat, and she told herself she would reduce the number of coin she charged him for his purchases because of it. Curse that vexing redcoat for costing her profits!
“Mistress Forbes, what an enchanting drawing — thy lovely visage is rendered well,” Jeremiah told her, angling his body in a curious manner as though trying to block her view of Niklaus.
Caroline let out a bark of laughter as she shook her head at the young man’s antics. Barely a man but already such a shameless flirt. She was certain he would catch the eye of a sweet girl soon. “Thy flowery sentiments art growing bolder, Master Gilbert. I pray thou save thy best compliments for a worthy maiden.” She inclined her head at Niklaus who seemed to be taking in the scene with a glint of good humor and she added, “Although thy compliments art well-taken as Lieutenant Mikaleson was the esteemed creator.”
Frowning slightly, Jeremiah impatiently flicked his gaze at the soldier before returning his attention Caroline. “Yes, well, clearly an officer has more time to spare than one would assume.” He curiously seemed to puff out his chest as though taken by dropsy, and continued with, “Such idleness is a rarity for a planter; therefore, where I choose to spend my precious few moments art quite telling.”
“Indeed,” Niklaus intoned, a devilish smirk appearing as he kept glancing at Caroline as though sharing a secret. “Quite enlightening, Master Gilbert.” He inclined his curly head respectfully toward Caroline and stepped away, announcing, “I must pay a visit to Master Lockwood’s forge. I will return for my parcel midday, Mistress Forbes.”
She nodded her assent, pleased that finally they would be free of the British soldier’s dizzying presence and Jeremiah would utter the secret phrase of the Travelers’ courier. However, as she observed the broad shoulders of Niklaus as he left her shop, she couldn’t deny the secret thrill she felt that she would see him later that day. Admonishing herself for her foolish, even traitorous thoughts, she returned her attention to Jeremiah, who seemed especially aquiver.
He swiped at the back of his neck, flushed as though with fever and she pitied the sweet boy for the strenuous labor he performed on the Gilbert farm — it seemed to be affecting him more than usual. She was starting to think it would be a mercy if he wasn’t the courier as he seemed overtaken by the strain of his task. Finally, he said, “Mistress Forbes, pray do not think me too bold in my query...” he paused, swiping at his brow, and she readied herself to hear the secret code of the Travelers: Tie it with a blue ribbon. “Would thou attend the harvest celebration with me,” he blurted out in one long phrase, as though relieved to hath finally spoken the words.
Caroline blinked repeatedly, trying to reconcile both her surprise that her dear friend’s young brother was not the courier and also that the boy viewed her in a romantic manner. “Oh,” she said in a strangled voice, reaching for gentle words to dispel his illusions of a romantic entanglement with her. “Master Gilbert, I’m flattered of course, but —”
“The lady hath already agreed to attend with me, young Master Gilbert,” Her flailing attempts were mercifully cut off by the confident voice of Niklaus, who had returned unexpectedly to the shop. Seeing the British soldier’s knowing smirk made her hackles rise even as she felt relief that Jeremiah likely would now move on to a more suitable companion than one who would forever look upon him as a younger brother.
Jeremiah’s sweet, boyish face fell at Niklaus’ words but as he left, he managed to mumble bland pleasantries as he bid them both a pleasant day. Once the boy was gone, Caroline raised a critical eyebrow at Niklaus. “Art all brothers of the blade as presumptuous as thou, Lieutenant Mikaelson?”
He leaned against the counter, a lazy smile perched upon his lips as her shrill tone washed over him. “Was I mistaken in assuming thy affections for young Master Gilbert ran toward that of a sibling rather than a paramour?”
Her cheeks flushed at the way he deliberately said ‘paramour’, as though his wicked tongue wished to lovingly caress the word between them. She quickly distracted herself by retying her apron strings, nearly ripping the thin cotton in her haste. Straightening her spine, she answered, “While I hath no desire to attend with a boy I hold to be a brother, that doesn’t mean that thou art a suitable escort.” Lightly scoffing, she added, “We’ve no common ground, Lieutenant Mikaelson, and I fear boredom would overtake thee.”
Niklaus seemed to take her rebuke as a challenge, and he moved closer than could be deemed proper as his gray eyes twinkled in merriment. “Thou art mistaken, Mistress Forbes. I suspect we share more common ground than ye perceive.”
Raising a skeptical brow, Caroline reached for the soldier’s parcel, fiddling with the brown string to tie it securely. Her hands stilled and she nearly dropped the parcel in shock when she heard Niklaus say, “On second thought, why don’t ye tie it with a blue ribbon?”

Today I present a Daniel Smith Titanium White and Mars Black watercolor ground review.  So many puns came to mind for this supply.  I’ll try to keep them to a minimum.  If you are not familiar with watercolor ground, it is basically an absorbent primer that allows one to use watercolor, or acrylic paint/ink, on a variety of surfaces and/or build up texture on surfaces.  We start with the main feature, and then a couple little tidbits at the end.
So let’s hit the ground running….
The directions on the jar say:
“An excellent ground for watercolor on all surfaces.  Absorbent surfaces: Canvas, Paper, Plaster, Hardboard.  Non-Absorbent surfaces: glass, plastic, metal- for best results these will need to be abraded before application of the ground.  Thick, brushable and heavily pigmented.  Allow 24-72 hours to cure before applying watercolor or acrylics.  Can be thinned up to 10% with water.  Wash brushes immediately after use.”
Ground from this brand also comes in Transparent and Iridescent Gold, but I don’t have those.  These are the 4 oz jars.  The Titanium White is also sold by the pint.  The white is thicker than the black.  I’ve had the white for longer, so it could be due to age.  It happens to the best of us.  The black has a smoother consistency before drying, the white reminds me of buttercream frosting.  The 4 oz sized containers are going for around $11-$12 on Amazon.  Looks like it can be found for less expensive prices elsewhere.
I know what the directions said, but I’m often fond of looking past such direction.  So I applied these to cardboard, along with Canson XL Mixed Media Sketchbook, a Leda Art Supply Sketch Book, and a small and cheap canvas board.  A ½ inch flat brush was used for application- as evenly as possible. They say 24-72 hours to cure, but I’m in Arizona, nothing takes that long to dry here.  I gave it about 12 hours on the Canson paper. I probably would have waited longer if I had applied it thicker, was building up the ground for shapes, or layering effects.  I want to point out that curing denotes something different than ordinary drying (although I’m not sure what), so my semi cavalier treatment of the product might not be suitable in all locations.  A friend on Instagram shared that in her experience, if the white ground didn’t cure for at least 24 hours, it made the paint look chalky. Another friend uses the ground on top of Altoids tins to paint on and pretty up her palettes.
I had some reason for buying the Mars Black, but don’t exactly recall.  Probably for space painting, as in- “Space the Final Frontier,” so that’s what I’m going with here.  And woo-hoo, now there’s an excuse to use that white watercolor that we’re told not to use!  Or use those pastel colors that contain the white pigment in the mix, which professional brands Daniel Smith and Holbein both carry.   Aren’t we told to never mix white in with other colors?  And why is it included in every palette set when no one uses it, or is instructed not to- taking up space where a more usable color could have been?!  I’m pointing these contradictions out because it’s one other reason I’m not compelled to always listen to, or follow directions or rules.  My supply reviews have a more adventurous creative flavor, than purist views.  What’s not acceptable or popular today, might be tomorrow.  So really- just do what moves you, that’s all that matters.   I love those pastel colors and have a few from Holbein.
Now after saying all that and experimenting, I’m coming right to it- I  don’t like the black ground. Everything I used on it looked terrible.  I’m showing these as examples of what NOT to do- cardboard for one, which might seem pretty obvious, but I gave it a go anyway.  And to further illustrate that, the black ground looks like bad 1970s velvet paintings. Velvet Elvis should leave the building.
This video shows a close up of Luminescent and Primatek Lines from Daniel Smith used on the Mars Black.
Below- the Mars Black ground painted in a Canson XL Mixed Media Sketchbook. The top row are Luminescent and Primatek Lines from Daniel Smith, pastel watercolors from Holbein, and a few Finetec watercolors. White FW Acrylic Ink was used to make stars, and gaseous clouds in the nebula.  I became so displeased with the results that I quit part way through my experiments.
Australian artist Cindy Lane has some amazing galaxies that she paints on black pastel matte using various luminous colors from the Daniel Smith line. Folks on Instagram might be familiar with her artistry.  Click either link to see her IG account.
On to these disasters- the cardboard.  The black one is especially terrible- I used white and pastel watercolors from Holbein, Finetec watercolor, and then Gelly Roll pen to try and help it some. Egads! White watercolor acted the strangest of all, it was difficult to control in some spots, and looks like a toothpaste stain.
General observations before I get into showing more examples. Lifting paint from the surface is easy to do.  Using a pointy tipped fountain pen will scrape through the surface, pens didn’t do that well, I tried a Pigma Micron and Gelly Roll.  Pencil worked fine, but I didn’t try to sketch a bunch or erase. The texture of the black ground surface reminds me of pastel matte. The white seems to be a little bit more paper like, but like painting on unsized paper. Images lack definition, aliveness, luminosity and depth, everything looks a little dull.  In some cases, getting detail was not easy. Anyone that is better with dry brush techniques, might have better luck using ground. This was a frustrating review to do samples for.  To queue the song I was hearing in my head when I thought about presenting these- click here.
Titanium White ground in a Leda Art Supply sketchbook.  This sketchbook has thin paper, and doesn’t accept watercolor without deteriorating some, at least the way I use watercolor. I thought it would be a good place to try ground. Most of the watercolors used were Daniel Smith Primatek and they looked the best out of anything, and this is the best example I have.  Even the gold ring came out sad and dull.
I applied the ground using a brush and a credit card, and also a more uneven application. It sat for months before I painted on it, so it was plenty cured. Close-up to show texture, which worked great for the rock formations.
Lastly, the white ground on a canvas panel, painted with Liquitex Muted Collection and Transparent Collection acrylic inks, which behave much like watercolor. It cured for the proper amount of time before use.  This was also a exercise in frustration.  The painting on the left is the ground covered canvas panel.  The one on the right are the same paints used on an Ampersand Aquabord, included for comparison.  Again, tough to get detail or definition, or depth on the ground surface, and I attempted to put in detail. Blasé.  No transparent luminosity like there is on the Aquabord.
All I can do in these reviews is present from personal experience, and anything personal comes with bias- pretty much anything anyone ever shares comes from that place- eye of the beholder and such. Some people might like how the black ground looks. These products might work fantastically for others because of their personal preference and/or skill.  I didn’t find a lot of examples out there. Here are a couple of links to artists that used ground, whose paintings look good.
Artist Stephanie Law uses watercolor ground in a lot of her paintings to achieve different textures, and layering effects.
This lady on Wet Canvas has a partial example on canvas.
And now that we are all feeling grounded (if this didn’t work, try “Earthing”), here are some Daniel Smith watercolor swatches on regular ‘ol Canson XL paper.  I can’t remember what I was going for here, but they are nice to look at.  I figured I would pop them in because I don’t know one person into watercolor that doesn’t like looking at swatches.  These were personal notes of a sort, so there is sure to be scrawl and misspellings and the swatches were done at random.  Other actual reviews on Daniel Smith watercolors can be found here– Part I, and here– Part II which covers the Primatek and Luminous lines.
Explorers’ Sketchbooks– I asked for this book for my birthday (thanks mom & dad).  It’s a beast of a book, textbook sized, and features the sketchbooks from 70 explorers. One modern explorer in there is Wade Davis– Explorer in Residence at the National Geographic Society. If you are into outdoors, nature sketching, exploring, travel sketching, looking at handwriting, old documents, history, anthropology, archaeology, it might be interesting to you. If available, it’s a good one to check out from a library.
In closing, I’m sharing a quote from the brilliant Austin Kleon.  Today, I resonate with this all the way.
“Try this: Next time you come across someone’s work and you’re not sure exactly how they do it, don’t ask them how it’s done. Don’t go after the “right answer” like some eager honors student. Look closer. Listen harder. Then use your imagination and experiment with the tools you have. Your bad approximation will lead to something of your own.”
The uniqueness and beauty of your personal artistic expression is just that- uniquely yours, right now, this very day.  May it continue to deepen, grow and transform, as you do.
Thank’s for taking the time to read this review, it’s for you.  Supply reviews happen when I have a supply to review, and always on a Saturday.
Join us for World Watercolor Group!  It’s a group for everyone who enjoys watercolor. It is a very active group. There’s also the #WorldWatercolorGroup tag to use when sharing your work on social media.  More info in the link above, or click here.

Fate is a utopia brought by the savior of all the land, Mary Sue, who rules the planet with her saving function: Destiny. Now, everyone functions on Destiny, prophesizing the stories of several citizens to have history play out as it should. The Chosen Ones are destined good guys with stories written in the book. The Dark Lords are rebels against Destiny and are cursed to be the bad guys. The Averages are background characters with no magical abilities and no life purpose at all. This is how the world runs with the newly formed magic and advanced technological advancements working together to make the perfect world of balance. And now that is all being threatened by an unexpected force. To solve this, Mary Sue plans to use it as an opportunity to bring out perfection of her descendant, Charlie Sue, who has come of age for his story as the next Sue savior. He moves into the capital of the world, Hiro, to solve the mystery of the new force, alongside his destined sidekick and best friend, Sherilyn Rosuto. With help from princess Akari Vesta, and two unknown faces of AJ and Fran, the five of them are here to bring justice to Fate. Or, they might instead find cracks in how things run.
Four years of production. Multiple rewrites. Notes after notes after notes of lore. Three fanfiction on this account. I finally feel confident enough to show this. My own fantastical story, Destiny's Burden. Ever since quarantine, I have worked day and night on this story, passionate over it. I really felt like what was originally a spoof on Chosen One stores was coming to life with this world. This story has kept me going through those times, and gave me a ton of purpose as a writer. Had it not been for this, Sketched Artistry Pretty Cure and Total Drama Danganronpa Island would've never been made. It also goes to one of my teachers in high school who saw a draft, and we had a very vital conversation to my confidence that inspired me to get on social media and share my stories. Before then I was a writer since I was six and was passionate over that, but a friend betrayed me when I was going to find success and beat me up and called me a hack. I showed no one my work for a long time. But here I am now. This work on this account is going to be a first viewing of this story and allow my viewers to be beta readers. I highly recommend comments regarding any feedback and criticisms you have. Unlike my fanfiction, I'll try to reply to them and explain some things, take the L for flaws, or defend my choices.

Rei: “Oh okay… 'Just moved here', tense to wear anything other than black, rude as can be... Are you working for those aliens that've been attacking?!"
Shiro: "Alien things...?! I-I haven't seen those until today either-! H-how c-could I possibly-?!"
Shiro: (thinking) Kaede, you were wrong, they're smart! This one knows! She already knows!! What do I do?! They know!!!
Midori: “Rei-Chan, seriously? That's way too far of an accusation! Give her a break!"
Keiko: "Sorry about Rei-Chan, she's impulsive like that..."
Rei: “I'm telling you-!"
*Sora and Akemi put their hands over her mouth*
Episode 14:
Sora: “Ah, here we go! You want one of us to warm up your vocals?"
Keiko: “Oh! I'll do it!"
*Sora and Jiro run to the back and plug their ears*
Keiko: “I'm SiNgInG, i'M sInGiNg, I'm A mErMaId, aNd I cAn, SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-“
Akemi: "This is..."
Orenji: "TERRIBLE!!!"
Keiko: “I'm SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-“
Rei: “HEY!"
*grabs Keiko by the wrist*
Rei: "You are a disgrace to the very concept of warm ups."
~
Jiro: “That was actually, the dumbest thing we could have ever done. Why did we do that?"
Keiko: “Because it's fun!"
Rei: “You three are actually insane. Guess Akemi and I are the only sane ones here."
*Akemis happy enough, giggling*
Rei: “I will show you how to dance the steps!"
Keiko: "Like you can do better!"
Rei: "Unlike you guys, I actually know dancing choreography and took lessons from my dad, before he left, I mean."
*Rei demonstrates for Akemi*
Rei: “Second position vertical. Hand up and over. Bend the left leg. Hands to the chest. Hand out. Raise it. Right foot step in front. Transition to a twirl from there. Tip toe to right stage. Scroll hand through the balance beam as though they're human artifacts. Lay on the floor. Look frustrated.”
Keiko: “That's you everyday.”
Rei: “Leg over the back. Roll over. Sit up. Look up. Hands to the chest. Aim right hand at the ceiling- That's your left.”
Akemi: “S-sorry. Shall we do it all over again?"
Rei: “Is there something I'm doing wrong?"
Akemi: "What? Oh no, it's not you. You're cynical and you're aggressive, but you're not necessarily doing the wrong thing by calling me out."
~
*All the Cures get muted.*
*Azure is trying to explain what’s happening, but is muted.*
*GoldenAsh mocks Azures lip sync with her hand, but is muted*
~
Noir: “Voice cancelation aura! That doesn't affect Erasers! I just erased all your voices in an instant. Frankly, it sounds so much better in here."
*GoldenAsh is screaming something. Probably bad words. But she’s muted.*
Noir: “Music to my ears.”
~
Akemi: “I don't know what path my life is going, and I don't know where my voice will take me, but... it's just nice having one, ya know?"
Rei: “Oh yeah, definitely. Honestly, the nerve Noir had the guts to take away my pleasant voice! I mean come on, everyone likes it when I talk!"
*Keiko, Sora, Jiro, and Midori give iffy looks at her.*
Rei: "What? It's true! Don't give me that look!"
~
Keiko: “Maybe that Kaede girl had a wig.”
Rei: “Or it was Shiro.”
The others: “Rei, no!" "Seriously?!" "Come on, Rei!"
Rei: “What?! Don't you think I have a point?! Shiro shows up, and then there's this new Eraser?!"
Midori: “You don't have proof besides that!"
Rei: “I think it's proof enough! There's eyes on us! They're trying to get us from the inside! Sure, we foiled their plans on Akemi, but it's not stopping there! Keiko could be next!"
Keiko: “D-does that mean I get Rei protection?"
*Rei nods yes*
Keiko: “…sweet."
Episode 15:
Keiko: "I told you that you weren't good at math!"
Rei: "Yeah, like you are any better!"
*They both got bad grades*
Rei: "I still did better than you.”
Keiko: “Like, by two questions!"
Rei: “It's a basic equation, I get two questions more than you, therefore I get a higher number than you do, therefore I get more questions right, therefore I did better."
*Keiko draws a little medal around Rei's neck in her head, reading 'Not as bad at math as you could have been'.*
~
*Keiko and Rei are coming over*
Keiko: “Sora-Chan!"
*Sora doesn’t answer*
Keiko: "How'd you do?"
Rei: "Oh please, I'm sure she got a perfect score and she wants to rub it in our faces."
~
Sora: “I failed, I failed so bad, I'll never recover from this, I'll never recover from this..."
Rei: “It's a 97! Get over it!"
Akemi: “Yeah, that's still an A.”
Keiko: “I did so much worse than you."
Sora: “You don't understand... I can't get any job whatsoever if I don't get good grades. Let alone with my father... he's gonna kill me."
Rei: “Over a 97, who cares?!"
~
*Soras on the desk bawling*
Rei: "I dunno about you guys, but... I find this to be absolutely pathetic to cry about."
~
Orenji: “Alright, Pretty Cure! I'm just concerned about one thing... where's Ayano-san?!"
*They only just now noticed she’s missing*
Rei: *face palms* "How do we not notice she's not here?!"
~
Jiro: “…she was screaming. That's it. Screaming. For no reason at all. It was like she was possessed by a ghost."
Rei: “I guess she's really insane, then... I mean, hanging out with Keiko so much earlier than the rest of us..."
*Keikos offended*
~
Orenji: “Sora-Chan sold her soul! Sora sold her soul! Sora sold her soul!!"
*Keiko, Rei, Midori, and Akemi charge at the door, trying and failing to yank it open*
*They fail and collapse on each other*
Jiro: "That's a push open door."
Rei: “Why does it have an arched handle then?!"
~
Keiko: “Sora-Chan!! I-I know you're in there, Sora-Chan! You love fashion! You can't give up on it! You're smart, and beautiful, and you can do anything you put your mind to! Don't let the Erasers take you over!!"
Sora: “Uh, Keiko? I'm not brainwashed."
Rei: “Exactly what brainwashed people say..."
~
Rei: “She is not invested in that marketing test.”
Jiro: “Can you blame her?"
~
Shiro: “Wow..."
Rei: "Why are you here?"
~
*Rei is locked outside the classroom. She’s banging on the door. No one notices*
~
Sora: “I get at least a hundred on this test, I can do the edit. That'll be my reward. I'll deserve it."
Rei: *trying to get a bird out of her hair* “Deserve it? Girl, no one said you had to deserve doing the things you like! I don't like that mindset. You like doing something, do it. You don't have to earn it."
Shiro: “Of course she does."
Keiko: "N-Nikko-san! What are you...?"
Rei: “Painting birds.”
*The bird continues to use her hair as a nest. Rei groans and gives up*
~
*All the Cures are studying the same textbook together*
*Keiko falls asleep on the desk*
*Rei falls asleep on Keikos shoulder*
~
Rei: “Seven hundred eighteen inches divided by four! Go!"
*Sora hesitates*
Rei: "Did I stutter?"
Sora: “No, just, I don't know how to do that in my head.”
Rei: "Write it down. I'm not stopping you."
*Writes it down*
Sora: “One hundred seventy nine and five tenths!"
Rei: "Nineteen hundred fifteen divided by twenty three!"
Sora: “What?!"
Rei: "Eight hundred one divided by twenty!"
Sora: “Okay, I didn't mean 'what' as in, 'I can't solve it', I meant 'what' as in, 'why should anyone have to answer that?'"
Rei: “Tell me about it!"
~
*Rei snaps her pencil in frustration of the test*
~
Rei: "Hey hey hey! This isn't mine!"
Teacher: “Is there anyone else here named Takeo Rei?"
*Rei slumps in her chair over the 59% on her test*
Keiko: “Thought you were smarter than that, Rei-Chan.”
Rei: "Math is not my strong suit, okay?"
~
Shiro: “Ninety seven?!! Ninety seven?!! That's impossible! I ch- I... was just picking random answers!"
Sora: “That's... strangely good luck.”
Rei: "Oh please, Nikko-san cheated. She's just mad that the tests are rigged against us."
Shiro: “Cheat? Me?! I have no idea what you're talking about!"
~
Keiko: “You did better than me and Rei.”
Rei: “It's an A! You aced it! You're this upset over a 93?! Who cares?!?! You still did better than so many of us!!"
Sora: “I care, Rei! I don't need your mean jabs right now!"
*Rei stops talking*
~
Shiro: “It's not mean when you're just telling the truth. You said you had to get a hundred to be able to do this dress edit. Your reward. Well, you didn't get a hundred. You can't do the edit. You didn't earn it."
Rei: “Get out! Sora doesn't need you to throw her down right now!"
Shiro: “She's throwing herself down!"
Rei: “Get. Out!"
Shiro: “We're in class. I want to get out. But I can't."
Rei: “Then... go to a corner, read a book, or something, I don't know! Just don't be near Sora-Chan!"
~
Rei: “Well... Not what 'please let us get there first' being wrong, is exactly what we had in mind..."
~
Keiko: “W-who are you...?"
Kuran: “I believe the question should be, who are you?"
Rei: "We're not scared of you Shiro!"
Kuran: “Shiro? Don't know who that is, but sounds like a human's name. Bleh!"
Midori: "Shiro? Really?"
Rei: “It's obviously her! She just dyed her hair and she's wearing different clothes."
Keiko: "Or, you just don't like Nikko-san, one or the two."
*Kaede aims a scythe at Rei*
*Rei tenses up*
~
Inkling: “What is a theme?"
Cherry, GoldenAsh, Teal, and Crimson: “Huh?"
GoldenAsh: "Be more specific."
Inkling: “6/2(1+2)"
Inkling: “Cure GoldenAsh!"
GoldenAsh: “Of course... Nine!"
*Correct*
Cherry: “I thought you were bad at math!"
GoldenAsh: "I'm bad at math that has no relevance to life. There's a difference."  ~
Cherry: “That's not even a question, that's..."
GoldenAsh: "Oh my gosh, it's simple multiplication! You got this!!"
Cherry: “Eh... You see... depends, what kind of crackers are they?"
Inkling: "WRONG!!"
Cherry: “I never studied that!!"
Teal: "Yes we did!"
GoldenAsh: “You actually have the IQ of a ROCK!!"
~
Teal: “Eh?"
GoldenAsh: “Oh come on, that's an easy one!"
Kaede: "No giving away the answer! We'll eliminate you automatically!"
GoldenAsh: “When was that a rule?!"
Teal: “I blame my job not being related to this…”
Crimson: “Just guess!!"
Teal: "The setting affects the plot by affecting the plot!"
GoldenAsh & Crimson: "You call that a guess?!!"
~
Inkling: “9 - 3 / 3 + 1"
Inkling: “Cure GoldenAsh!"
GoldenAsh: “How is anyone supposed to solve that?! Nine, minus three is six, divide that by three is two-"
Inkling: "TIME'S UP!!"
GoldenAsh: “Wha-?! Since when was it timed?! You never said that!"
Kuran: “I just did. Your fault you can't find the answer fast enough. Such a failure."
*Shes not happy*
Inkling: “The answer is 9! Cure GoldenAsh: Eliminated!"
*GoldenAsh gets trapped in sticky notes*
GoldenAsh: “That's not fair!!"
Kuran: “I'm sorry, it is fair. It's your fault you're not good enough."
~
Crimson: “What was I thinking?!"
GoldenAsh: "I don't know, but I don't get how you miss that!"
Crimson: “There's no purple in our group! That's how my director describes spotlights!"
~
Azure: “Hit me with your best shot!"
GoldenAsh: “Azure! You don't have to do that!"
*She says while trapped on the wall by a sticky note*
~
Akemi: “Well?"
Sora: “She loved it!"
*Keiko, Midori, and Akemi squeal and throw Sora into a group hug*
*Rei smiles but tries to stay out of it. Keiko drags her into the hug*
Episode 16:
'April 8th,'
'It's me. Takeo Rei.'
'Even to this day, I hate the fact my mom made me move to this boarding school.'
'Not to say it's all horrible. She's doing her best to keep us financially afloat in our shabby little place. Other girls at my school stay in these cozy little dorms. Not me. Can't afford it.'
~
'I will admit this, I told myself for awhile that I was done with friends. I didn't need them. They only tore you down. Then like some anime, a talking bird comes down to force you to become your fantasy superhero self insert, Ash Goldenflame... kinda. Okay, so they only allow you to have 'Cure' at the start of your name like some cult, but point is, I'm a superhero.'
'I also associate with girls now, which is... kind of a huge shift for me. Like, I'm not 'the tough sarcastic outcast' anymore.'
'Gina Akemi is actually a really nice girl, and I relate to her quite a bit.'
'Chokawa Midori is a girl I have huge respect for, even if I don't always agree with her.'
'Ayano Sora, I admit, we're still working things out, but I do think we've overcome her... jealousy?'
'Over who? Well, her best friend, Sakura Keiko, who...'
Keiko: “REEEEIIII-CHAAAANNNN!"
‘I have mixed feelings about.'
*Rei goes after her, seeing Ichiro bullying Keiko*
Rei: “What's your problem?! Why don't you just leave her alone?"
Ichiro: “Relax, okay?! I asked the chick if I could see what she was drawing, she agreed, so I took her book so I can see, and suddenly she's mad when I turn the page!"
Rei: "Don't. Mess with her."
'Ichiro is problematic to say the least. I do everything to slap sense into someone immature as him, and yet he never listens. Treats me like I'm the bad guy. Hey, I'm a very noble person.'
Ichiro: "This is why no one likes Takeo."
*He leaves*
Keiko: *blushing* “Rei..."
*Rei hands Keiko her sketchbook back, realizing there’s a drawing of Rei*
*Rei blushes hard at that drawing*
'I'm upset she drew me without permission. I'm upset she drew me without permission... I swear!'
~
'Frankly, I have a reputation in my school. It goes like this: I mind my own business, then someone thinks I'm pretty, walks up to ask me out despite not even knowing me...'
Boy: "Come to claim that kiss beautiful?"
Rei: “I told you no! Never gonna happen! Not when you act like this around me!"
Boy: "You're so annoying... aw, that beauty of yours is a waste!"
'...I give the logical answer. And then they find out my personality, and bully me for the rest of the year.'
*A guy throws paper at Reis head*
*Rei catches the paper and tears it up*
Rei: "You better have a proper definition of what a trash can looks like buddy!"
*They run away*
~
'It's always the same. Sometimes I... I don't know if it's me, or not me.'
Teacher: “How about Takeo-san?"
Rei: "I didn't raise my hand."
Teacher: “I called on you. Not paying attention, are we?"
Rei: “If I wasn't, I wouldn't have responded.”
Teacher: “Give me the book."
Rei: "It's private!"
Teacher: “I'm not gonna read it. Your attention needs to be brought onto the things that'll benefit you in the real world."
Rei: “Okay." *goes back to the book*
Ichiro: “You are impossible, Takeo-san... Was she always like this?"
Rei: “Yes! It's called being real."
Teacher: “Alright, that's it.”
*he throws textbooks on her desk*
Teacher: “Send these to the library. Now."
~
*sees Rika*
Rei: (thinking) Go in. Set the books on the front desk. Get out. Go in. Set the books on the front desk. Get out... No. Go in. Set the books on the desk. Get out. Go in... Set the books on the desk... Get out! Get out before she sees you! There's no way she's here... she can't be...
Rika: “Taki?"
*Reis frozen*
Rei: “Suki?"
~
*Rei and Rika stare at each other, Rika with a smile*
*Then Rei turns her back on her*
Rika: “Wait, why are you-? Taki-sama!!” *grabs Rei* “Please don't tell me you forgot about me!"
Rei: “Your name is Suki Rika.”
Rika: “It's so great to see you again! I didn't think you'd be in this school! I mean, I thought you quit writing after you..."
*she hugs Rei, who is uncomfortable*
Rika: “It's so great to see a friend again! Oh, did I mention how great you look? Takeo Rei with short hair? Gloves? What?!"
Rei: “Great, bye Suki!"
*she tries to leave. Rika follows her*
Rika: “Taki! I got so much to ask!"
~
*Rei is doing schoolwork, ignoring her classmates getting into a paper fight*
*At the door window, Rika is banging on it and waving at Rei*
~
*Rei is having lunch behind the stairs, minding her own business*
Rika: *popping out of nowhere* “Hi!!!”
*Rei is jumpscared*
~
*Rei is at the library reading a book*
Rei: “I can see you!"
*Rika is hiding behind a bookshelf*
Rika: “Coincidence?"
*Rei gets up and leaves*
~
*Rei is walking down the hallway*
*She whips her head back behind her*
*No Rika*
*She jumps the turn*
*No Rika*
*Rei sighs in relief, walking ahead-*
Rika: “Taki!!”
*Shes outside. Banging on the window. She has paper that says ‘I love you Taki-sama’*
Rika: “I love you!!! Taki!!!! Talk to me!!!!”
*Rei, embarrassed, walks away*
Rika: “Wait!! Taki!!! Come back!!! Taki!!!!”
*Rika falls off the windowsill*
~
*Rei is exhausted, head on the desk and book over her head*
Shiro: “Tak-"
Rei: “STOP IT!!! STOP FOLLOWING ME!!!"
Shiro: “U-uh..."
Rei: “Oh… Thought you were someone else, Nikko-san..."
Shiro: “Someone push your buttons?”
Rei: “Why do you care?"
~
Shiro: “Hey, who are you avoiding anyway?"
*Rika shows up and charges at them*
Rika: “Who are you?! What are doing with Taki-sama?!"
Shiro: “Excuse me?!"
Rei: “She's not my friend."
~
Rika: “I'm already starting to like you! Miss...?"
Shiro: “Nikko Shiro.”
Rei: “I see you two are perfect for each other.”
Rika: “You think so?"
Rei: "Yeah, you're both stalkers and you're obnoxious."
Shiro: “I've been called much worse."
~
Rika: "Taki-sama! You should go!! You should do this with me! We could be friends, be a little trio with us an Nikko-san... who knows? They might teach you a think or two on originality."
*Rika leaves. Rei looks at the poster of the book club*
*She crumbles the paper and throws it away*
Keiko: “Rei? Rei-Chan? You're not going?"
Rei: Too much on my plate.”
Keiko: "You don't even do anything!"
Rei: “I don't want to go! Okay?"
Jiro: "Rei-Chan, I really think this will be a good experience for you, as a writer, and since you know people, you can... talk more?"
Rei: “I can't write."
Sora: “Rei-"
Rei: "I'm not going, and that's final!!"
*Sora steps back*
Rei: “Sora, I'm sorry, okay? I-I said that badly... I-I know you're trying to help, but... I can't do this..."
Rei: “I get that. I do."
Shiro: “Sure you can! I know you can! You are a brilliant strong girl, and you're scared of a little book club?! Come on, I'll be there with you!"
Rei: "The cure to my curse..."
Shiro: "You know, Suki-san will probably force you to come anyway."
~
*Rei is dragged to the library by Shiro*
Rei: “Nikko-san!!!"
Shiro: “This will be fun!"
Rei: "Getting pulled by the arm is not fun!"
*They get in, and the entire book club stares at Rei*
*Rei is shaking*
Rika: "You came!! Taki-sama!!"
Rei: “Let's get this over with..."
*Rei takes a seat next to Rika*
Rika: "Don't worry! As long as you earn it, you're fine."
Rei: "Like how you earned the markers I gave you."
Rika: "Okay seriously, what is your problem?"
~
Shiro: “This is a book?"
Rei: “It's mythology. Read the room."
Shiro: “How do humans read these things and not get bored? There's no pictures."
Rei: “Your head is a picture.”
Shiro: “Wow, Takeo-san's insulting me!"
~
*Rika shoves Rei to make her raise her hand*
Librarian: “Takeo-san! Participating!"
Rei: “U-um... Person versus self."
Librarian: “That is correct!"
Shiro: “You know this stuff?"
Rei: "It's beginners writing class."
Shiro: “There are classes?"
Rei: “Yes, and guess who took them. Since she was four."
Rika: “She said she was self taught. That's why she's always writing and not paying attention in math class."
Rei: “Suki..."
Rika: “Then she reads a lot of books, books that nobody wants her to know that she likes."
Rei: “Suki!"
Shiro: “Oh, what kind of books? I'm curious."
*Rika holds up the book*
Rika: "The Chibi Gold Games?"
Rei: *embarrassed* "Suki! Stop it!"
Rika: "She has all nine books. Her social media account is filled with reviews on them. As well as some other books she dunks on."
Rei: “It's a good series for kids!"
Rika: “She's 'BookBurner58' if you want to find her.”
*people look at them*
Rika: “Yeah, she's THAT chick! She doesn't want to tell anyone that! Her own mom doesn't know she has social media!"
Rei: “SUKI RIKA!!"
Rika: "She ships Mai and Mia! She has one shots! And she has a knock off of-"
*Rei duct tapes Roma’s mouth*
Shiro: “Takeo, what gives?"
*Rei buried herself in her book*
Rei: (thinking) I can never talk to humanity again. I'm just gonna be friends with the Chibis for the rest of my days. Their lives are simple... so much so that book eight was the worst of the saga...
~
Rei: (thinking) Whatever. This can't get worse.
*she enters the club room*
Rika: “She's great! Isn't she?!"
Rei: *dropping her stuff* “What are they doing here?!"
Shiro: “Was only introducing Rika to the rest of your friends.”
Rika: “I'll be honest, surprised Taki-sama even had friends.”
Rei: “Har har.”
~
Akemi: “Weren't you Rei's friend?"
Rika: “Yeah! Of course! I was shocked to see Taki-sama in this school, considering how much she 'can't write'. But we were great friends in elementary school! Then, one day, Rei just... stopped talking to me and... I don't know why."
*Reis fists are clenched from her seat. She’s not happy. She’s standing up*
Rei: “Alright, we have club stuff to do, and you're not a member! The exit's over there!"
Rika: “What?! You can't force me to leave!"
Sora: “Yeah Rei! What's the problem?!"
Rei: “Suki-san isn't a poet, she's a hack! She just copies and pastes, changes the subject, and then somehow nobody catches onto the plagiarism!"
Rika: “Ha! Wow! Saying something that only applies to YOU! Just great!”
*The Cures are confused*
Rika: “Fine. I'll leave. I thought I was talking to Taki-sama. Guess not."
*Rika and Shiro leave*
Keiko: “Rei...? Something you're not telling us...?"
Rei: “I don't want to talk about it."
~
Keiko: “Rei-Chan?"
Rei: “You can't keep away from me for two seconds, can you?"
Orenji: “Hey, Keiko-Chan's worried about you, and so am I."
Rei: “Oh I'm fine, I'm just... reading a book!"
*She’s holding up her Chibi book*
Rei: “Wait..."
Keiko: “So you're into that, huh?" Rei: “O-of course not! My account is secret to my family, and-"
*Now it’s even more embarrassing*
Rei: “It's training for writing! Writers train a lot..."
Keiko: “They do? Wow! Can I follow you?"
Rei: “It's not mine! It's for a friend... you're my only friends..."
*Rei face palms*
*Keiko holds up a drawing*
Keiko: "So for this friend, you kept this doodle of these two chibi girls making out for them?"
*Rei uses her Neon Pen to burn that doodle*
Keiko: “Okay..."
Rei: “I like it. So what? It's been with me since I was a kid."
*Keiko elbow bops Rei to get her to loosen up. It works*
Rei: "If you tell anyone about that, you will sleep on pencil shavings."
~
Orenji: "So what's the deal with Suki? Don't like her?"
Rei: “Don't like her? That's putting it lightly! And for the record, she didn't win any of that stuff. She didn't do anything with her life besides draw emo sketches! That stuff was... my rewards."
Keiko: “Figured. If she's using your accomplishments to look cool, she must like what you do."
Rei: “Did you not hear me? She's lying to you to make herself seem friendly and cool. At least I'm straightforward."
Orenji: “And yet you're not telling us what's going on! Please, we care about you Rei."
*Rei sighs, slumping on the edge of the bridge*
Rei: "She didn't lie about one thing. I was friends with her once. A pretty long time ago. Then she... then she... then she said I needed to be 'tougher', that I needed to work on my mean sprit... and then I moved on to better things."
Keiko: “Who said you needed to work on meanness? That makes no sense."
Orenji: “I mean, it did rub off on you-"
Rei: "Did not!"
~
Rei: “There's such thing as a 'true friend'. Rika isn't one of them. Sometimes... sometimes relationships can't be fixed. Sometimes dark colors can't be made bright again. I mean, that's like saying an Eraser, our sworn enemies, can become a Pretty Cure."
(Are you sure about that?)
~
Keiko: “We all have stuff to work on, but that's why the past is... whatever! Who cares?! Right here, right now, Takeo Rei is a golden gal! Nothing will change the core of that!"
Rei: "Goodness..."
~
*An Inkling shows up*
Rei: “You gotta be kidding me..."
*Kaede and Kuran appear*
Kaede: “Nope. We’re pretty serious.”
Kuran: “When I feel like it, at least."
Rei: “Who did you rob this time? Huh?!"
*Notices the Rika statue*
Rei: "Okay. That's fair."
Keiko: “You're not supposed to like this!!"
Rei: "Did I say I wouldn't save her?!"
~
Kaede: “Now now sister, all good things come to those who wait."
GoldenAsh: “Yeah I don't believe that policy."
~
GoldenAsh: “I am not nothing. I have my faults, like everyone does... but I'll make up for them and protect everyone! Suki, Nikko, my friends, Canvas Corner, EVERYONE!! And I can do so much more than be firepower!"
Sora: “Are you gonna tell anyone?"
Shiro: “Oh yeah, I'm announcing it to the entire world as we speak."
*All the Cures become shocked. Except for Rei*
Shiro: “I'm kidding. I gain nothing from telling people."
~
Rei: “You meant that?"
Shiro: “…Yes. I was wrong to accuse you before I even knew you and what you... I'm sorry."
Rei: “I'm not innocent. And I... this is a lot of trust I have to put on you now. I'm not comfortable with that. Seems I have no choice though."
Shiro: "Is that forgiveness?"
Rei: "You need me to spell it out?"
~
Rika: “I didn't know what I did was gonna be... tone it down, will you?!"
Rei: “Please get off me."
~
Keiko: “REEEEIIII-CHAAAANNNN!"
*Rei runs up to see Ichiro bullying Keiko*
Rei: “Ichiro, get a job! You want to see her drawing? Keiko-Chan is gonna present it."
Ichiro: “Is she now?"
Keiko: “Rei-Chan..."
Rei: "You will never feel better if you keep that stuff hidden. Are you an artist?!"
*Keiko shows them a drawing of the sun*
*Ichiro’s impressed, and Rei gives a thumbs up*
'Would have been better if she drew me to be honest.'
~
'Frankly, I have a reputation in my school. It goes like this: I mind my own business, then someone thinks I'm pretty, walks up to ask me out despite not even knowing me...'
Boy: “Come to claim that kiss beautiful?"
Rei: “Hey, I am not ready for that yet."” *points to Rika* “Did you know she's single?"
*the guy chases after Rika, who’s scared out of her mind*
'...I offer a new situation. And then no one bullies me for the rest of the year.'
'It's always the same. But that's just me being me.'
~
Teacher: “How about Takeo-san?”
Rei: “I didn't raise my hand."
Teacher: “I called on you. Not paying attention, are we?"
Rei: “That's a thirty degree acute angle."
Teacher: “…I stand corrected. My bad."
~
Librarian: “Takeo-san, were you always so good with literature?"
Rei: “I'm a bird."
~
Rei: "I did something right today!"
Sora: “So... are you getting back to writing?"
Rei: “Uh-m-maybe...? I...? C-could I...? I could... I have a lot of ideas..."
Keiko: “What kind of ideas? More Chibi shipping fanfics?" *She’s reading one* “I didn't know you had a thing for rainbow colored kids!"
Rei: “AAH!"
Keiko: “Sheri? And her pink bun? Is that me?"
Rei: “GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY FANFICTION!!"
Librarian: “Get out of my library!"
*Rei chases Keiko out of the room*
*They’re still loud outside*
Keiko: “Aw come on it's addictive!"
Rei: “It's private!"
Keiko: “You left it open in the library!"
Rei: “Keiko, give it back!"
Keiko: “You're just asking me to say I love you at this point!"
Rei: “My story needed a lo-loafer! A loafer!"
Keiko: “Now you're calling me a shoe?!"
Rei: “Ye-I mean no! No! Keiko!!! Give up!!! I will chase you across the country!!! Give it back!!!"
Akemi: “Should we help them?"
Sora: *drinking coffee* “I say let them have it."
Episode 17:
Cherry: “I am so sorry! I-I tried to get here, and-"
GoldenAsh: *shivering* You left us in freezing temperatures! Other than that, I don't care. You saved us."
(This is one of only two lines she has in this episode)
Episode 18:
Rei: “Orenji, it's the weekend. We're meant to sleep."
~
Sora: “We need to know how they're even broken, right? Like, what's clogging the ink to work?"
Rei: "Maybe we should open them up and find out..."
*she tries to break the Neon Pens. It’s not working*
Rei: “O-okay, hang on, I can get it. I can get it..."
*Orenji snatches the pens from her*
Orenji: "These Neon Pens are not replaceable!"
(Flashback to Episode 11 when she nagged Midori for attempting the same thing…)
~
Orenji: “Okay, so first thing we need to do: We find Keiko's third pen!"
Rei: “How do we do that? You want Jiro to make a Neon Pen tracking device?"
~
Keiko: “About Shiro... Do you think she'll come back?"
Orenji: “I don't know.”
*Rei looks up from her seat*
Rei: “She took advantage of you. How can you forgive that right away?"
Keiko: “…Rei, I... I'm so sorry!"
*Rei turns around*
Rei: "Sora-Chan? Do you know anything about this place?"
Sora: "I don't. This is kind of Keiko's place."
Rei: “Yeah... Keiko's place..."
~
Orenji: “I guess this is Keiko's old school?"
Rei: "Keiko's old school? But..."
Akemi: “Rei, what's wrong? You've been awfully genuine ever since we started this trip."
Rei: “Wow..."
Sora: “Do you know this place?"
Rei: "To tell you the truth... this isn't just Keiko's old school..."
~
Keiko: *banging her head on the desk* “NOTHING!" *bang* “NO IDEAS!" *bang* “NOT FOR HOURS!" *bang* “USELESS.” *bang* “STUPID.” *bang* “HEAD.” *bang* “OF NOTHINGNESS!!" *bang* "That is now probably concussed..."
Rei: *writing in her notebook* “Wow..."
Orenji: “You don't know how to make this?!"
Rei: “That is a first for you, I have to say. I don't know how I feel about it."
~
Jiro: “I'm gonna go get ready to eat out.” *leaves*
Keiko: “Okay...?"
*Keiko looks at Rei, who is blushing at her*
Rei: “U-uh... I-I'll go too... starving..." *runs away*
~
Rei: "She's like a blank slate. Not the writers block kind, but like there's nothing going on in her head."
Keiko: “Maybe she was raised differently?"
Rei: “Either way, our point is, she's like diet Keiko, but without the cutesy appealing density."
~
Keiko: “The soldier represents war. The ramen represents peace after the war. And the noodles represent... the grandparents?"
*thought process broken*
Keiko: “It sucks! I'm sorry!"
(Delicious Party roast)
Rei: “Have you tried... uh... N-nevermind."
Keiko: “Rei? Are you okay?"
Rei: “I-yeah-I-I take back what I was gonna say. Really, it would make things worse and..."
Keiko: “I never said that, I would like your input, actually.”
*Rei blushes*
Rei: “U-uh... jelly! W-would that work?!"
*Midori, eating some, nods yes*
*Rei chuckles and fans her red face*
Rei: “It’s hot in here. I’m dying.”
Sora: “Okay, I guess Rei's out of the idea list..."
*Rei sighs in relief*
~
Shiro: “And I thought grandparents were supposed to be cooks.”
*Rei pinches Shiro’s feet*
*It makes Shiro fall over*
Shiro: “What is that for?!"
Rei: “If you want to stay with us, you better be nice. Senior Sakura does so much for us while we're here."
~
Akemi: “I haven't had chili in a long time..."
Rei: “Great. You two can try it together."
~
Seikai Takeo: “Loud crowd, huh?"
Rei: “Hi dad.”
Seikai Takeo: “You okay, sunshine?"
Rei: “I'm fine."
Seikai Takeo: “Okay... fine as in you're fine, or fine as in you're not fine and you just don't want to talk about it?"
Rei: "Why do you feel the need to do that?”
*He stares down his daughter*
Rei: “It's my... friend... We came on this trip for her. This is all about her needs. And you know, Sora, Midori, Akemi, they're all supportive. They have no problem helping her with what she needs to get done for the best of... everyone. I can't support anyone for the love of me."
Seikai Takeo: “That's ridiculous. Why can't you help the Sakura kid?"
Rei: “I'm... me. I open my mouth, and bam, everything becomes about me and my bad mouth. Keiko doesn't need that, she can't afford that, so... I'm doing her a favor. Then of course, doesn't help that you're here, and..."
Seikai Takeo: “You speak, and it's about you. That's the basis of life for anyone. In one of my classes, a kid cracked a joke about Pluto. Kids laughed at the joke. It became about the kid. But I didn't react, and I let it be."
Rei: “We're teenagers now. Doing dumb girly teenage stuff..."
Seikai Takeo: “You want to help her."
Rei: “Of course I want to help her! Are you kidding me?! But this is about HER. Not me. She knows what's best."
Seikai Takeo: “You know... if she didn't need anyone's help to find her inspiration, she wouldn't bring you here."
*he tries to hold her hand, but she moves it away*
Seikai Takeo: “You were your own inspiration with writing. Since the day you told me about a kid being made fun of at school, you wanted to write a happy ending for her. Since the first black light sequence of the fair you saw, you drew your own characters. Keiko may not be like that, but I don't know her well-"
Rei: “She's... I didn't know how I wanted to approach her, other than she was nicer to me than anyone has been for a long time. On the one hand, she can do really stupid stuff with her mind, which is both chaotic and cute-I mean-uh-crass! It's crass! That's a bad word to use... But any way, she doesn't know what to do, which is a first, so I don't know if she needs me-of course she doesn't need you, what are you thinking-UGH!! Y-you get it! I'm bad. She's great. Even when she's not great, she's somehow better than me..."
Seikai Takeo: “Sounds like you won't know if she needs your help if you don't help her. I met Satomi and Koi at these fairs, and your mom was helping clean their house floors. She needed help, but she didn't want to disappoint anyone either. From there, you can tell what came of us. And seeing how she's raising you, I think the messy parts are my favorites. Yeah?"
Rei: “Yeah... It's... messy... I just thought I hated people and people were dumb, but since Keiko... I'm seeing good sides of people I never knew were there. I'm feeling things I never knew I could feel..."
*She looks over at Keiko in the fields, admiring her*
Rei: “Puberty sucks. It sucks."
~
Rei: “What's your problem?"
Shiro: “H-hi Takeo... Okay, about Keiko-"
Rei: “Save it. You're being no help."
Mei Nikko (Kaede): “Don't tell me how to deal with my sister-"
Rei: "You can chill out."
~
Shiro: “Huh... I thought darkness was bad."
Rei: “It is. That's why people do this."
~
GoldenAsh: “Cherry, your call?"
*No answer*
GoldenAsh: “I say we go silent fist.”
~
Azure: “Cherry, we are in no condition to get her! We have to get her some other time..."
Cherry: “But-"
*She thinks about it*
*She sighs and back off*
*GoldenAsh puts a hand on Cherry’s shoulder to comfort her*
*They both hug each other*
Cherry: “I thought they were gonna take you too..."
GoldenAsh: "I know..."
~
Rei: “If that was me, and one of my friends was kidnapped, and all my loved ones were turned to stone, I'd probably be that upset too."
To be continued…
(I both love and hate this character)

Rei Takeo/Cure GoldenAsh Being A Mood (Sketched Artistry Pretty Cure) (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Episode 1:
*Keiko and Rei bump into each other*
Rei: "What the-?!! Watch where you're going!"
Keiko: “I am so sorry!!"
*Keiko tries to pick up her book*
Rei: “Don't touch my stuff!”
Keiko: “I'm sorry! A-at least let me help you up.”
Rei: "You… You don't know who I am..."
Keiko: “I don't see how that matters. Sakura Keiko, if you're wondering." Rei: “Takeo Rei..."
*Rei gets helped up. Awkward stare between the two*
Keiko: “I'll uh... I'll leave you alone."
Rei: “Is that yours?”
Keiko: "Huh? Yeah, that's... that's mine."
Rei: “Your wings are small. They need to be the main focus of your paper, so you really want to maximize every edge and every line."
Keiko: “Uh... Thanks."
Rei: “Don't mention it.”
*Rei leaves*
(She’s not in Episode 2 at all)
Episode 3:
Ichiro: “A sun doodle?! Are you crazy or just, really terrible at making art?"
Rei: “I could ask you the latter!"
Punk: “Excuse me?!”
Ichiro: “Look girl, no one asked for you to jump in! Scram!"
Rei: “You're telling me?! This girl was minding her own business, and so should you!"
Punk: “And for what reason should we?"
*gets his wrist twisted*
Rei: “Because you'll regret it if you don't listen to me,"
Ichiro: "Please! For a bad tempered burn to the head, you just have to be annoying as well!"
*gets a book chugged at his head*
Rei: "Who's next?"
*Ichiro and the punks runs away*
Keiko: "Takeo-San..."
Rei: "You don't want to end up like that, I suggest you watch where you're going."
Keiko: “U-uh... Yeah, sure, sure... thanks."
*Rei walks away* *She comes back to grab her school bag*
~
Teacher: “Takeo-San, we're turning in the storyboard today, you have yours?"
Rei: “Here. Go ahead and tear it apart."
Teacher: “Why would I do that?!"
Rei: "I told you I can't write! Besides, it's kind of your job."
*Students fall off their seats*
~
Sora: “It takes a long time to even become competent, Keiko. I didn't even get a perfect score on this, nobody is going to have that talent-"
Rei: “Seriously?!! You have to do that to me?!"
Teacher: “I think it's something you should consider, Takeo-San..."
Rei: "I did not ask for this score!" "
Teacher: “You are being hard on yourself.”
Rei: “Look, I respect you, so I don't actually expect you to like it!"
Someone: “Well, what'd you even get?!"
Rei: “It's not your business!”
*throws the paper away*
Sora: “Maybe you're not the only one who failed?"
~
*Rei is minding her own business*
*Keiko sneaks up from behind her*
*Rei nearly hits her, but sees her*
Rei: "Oh. You."
Keiko: “Takeo-San. Remember me? From the museum? I uh... thank you for helping me this morning, first of all."
*Rei stares at Keiko*
Keiko: "I-I have your book! You didn't pick it up after you helped me, so I wanted to give it back to you."
Rei: “Um... Thanks. Did you read it?"
Keiko: "What?"
Rei: “Did you read the book?! Yes or no?!"
Keiko: “U-uh, no! No, I did not!"
*Rei stares her down*
Keiko: "I swear I didn't!"
Rei: "Someone who actually respects privacy, I'm impressed."
*Rei walks off*
*Keiko follows her*
Keiko: "Wait! Hold on, shouldn't we, uh, talk this over? We are partners on this project, and I can really use your help on this sort of thing."
Rei: “Careful with your words Sakura-San, you don't want to gain a reputation as a stalker."
Keiko: “I'm trying to get to know you, Takeo-San, I'm not trying to steal from you or anything."
Rei: "You... wait, you don't want to hurt me?"
Keiko: “Why on earth would I want to do that?"
Rei: "Everyone does."
Keiko: “I'm sorry.”
Rei: “Don't be, I'm not worth that pity."
Keiko: “Okay… Where'd you get the book?"
Rei: “That's not your business!"
*Rei walks away*
*Keiko follows her, seeing Rei taking out a pen*
Keiko: "You wrote that book yourself!!"
Rei: "Please stop following me!"
Keiko: “No, wait! That's awesome, Takeo-San! No one said you were a writer!"
Rei: “That's not really evidence to anything.”
Keiko: “You got a hundred on the storyboarding. You brushed off that step of the process like it was nothing, and you're writing a whole novel by yourself! I mean, I am a pretty decent painter, but still!"
Rei: “Is this a trick? Are you getting close so you can staple my seat?"
Keiko: “No! I'm just ecstatic! The known tough girl of the school, the lawful strength that sets hearts on fire, is actually a novelist! You should really be showing off that dedication! Let alone be proud of it! Maybe people can do the same!"
*more judging stares at Keiko*
Rei: “You poor doomed childish soul.”
*attempts to walk off but stops*
Rei: “You know... We are working on this project together, and since you clearly don't understand the success of art..."
Keiko: “Let me try! I know it's a lot to ask, but you're just the partner I need for this! Just please teach the ways of writing!!"
Rei: "Fine, just don't set the papers on fire and we can converse at the café."
~
Rei: "You're excited for no reason.”
Keiko: "No reason?! This is great for both of us!"
Rei: “I don't know about that. Some people will never rise to greatness."
Keiko: “Oh ha ha, I suppose I'm meant to be nervous instead."
Rei: “Well, given our personalities, our life experiences, and everything we've been through to get to this moment... yeah."
~
Ichiro: "Hey precious."
Rei: “Convenient yourself, Ichiro.”
Keiko: “Wait, you know each other?!"
Rei: "Leave us be, and I'll leave you alone."
Ichiro: “You won't anyway! I do the slightest thing and you have to come in and break my wrist every time!"
Rei: “Because what you do for jokes are wrong! Treating me and others like a pet, lying, pushing other people around."
Ichiro: “You are a great pet though! Just another pawn to the game."
Rei: “I am NOT your pawn! And I belong to no one!"
~
*Ichiro slips over a water spill*
Rei: "Come on Sakura-San!"
*They both leave*
Keiko: “Takeo-San..."
Rei: "He's tried to play me since the fourth grade! And ever since he's never respected anybody's boundaries, and does the most irresponsible things just to lure me in and anger me to my core! He doesn't think stealing from people and bullying them is wrong no matter what I do to convince him, he thinks it's funny!" *sped up*
Keiko: “Just... How do you deal with that?"
Rei: “Oh you get used to it. When everyone follows in trying to destroy you, you get used to it."
~
Rei: “Sakura-San, what do you have so far?"
Keiko: “Oh uh… Wait, what do you have?"
Rei: “I threw mine away, remember?"
~
Rei: "Do you have note cards?"
Keiko: “Note cards?"
*pulls out a ton of note cards*
Rei: “First step in the writing process is coming up with an idea, jolt them down on paper."
Keiko: “And then we write?"
Rei: "No, then we organize all these notes to fit in a pyramid structure, essentially, what comes first, what comes next?"
Keiko: “And then we write?"
Rei: “No. Then we double check, plot it all down, and THEN we write... the first draft, then we have to edit and do it again."
~
Rei: “Okay, so you're completely disorganized with your concept, I guess we’re starting from there."
Keiko: “Whoa, hey, I am NOT disorganized!"
Rei: "Oh yeah? Then identify the conflict in this."
*tries*
Rei: “Not the conflict."
*tries*
Rei: “No."
*tries*
Rei: “Nope."
*tries*
Rei: “Nope."
*tries*
Rei: “Nope."
*tries*
Rei: “No."
*tries*
Rei: “Tried that spot already."
~
Rei: “For some reason, I don't believe that whatsoever."
~
*Keiko is asleep. Rei pokes at her. She doesn’t wake up. Rei groans*
~
Keiko: "That was beautiful, Takeo-San."
Rei: “I-it's nothing. Really, we're done anyway, it's getting late."
~
Sora: "Are you alright?"
Keiko: “What are you talking about? I'm fine. I was just working with my new, super great partner over here. We're really close now."
*Awkward silence*
*Rei face palms*
Keiko: “That did not sound as good as it did in my head."
~
Sora: “Everyone knows you don't mess with Takeo-San, not if you know what's good for you."
Keiko: “What? But she's-"
Rei: “None taken!"
~
Keiko: "This is my friend, Ayano Sora, Sora, Takeo Rei, Takeo-San, Sora."
Sora: “Hello..."
*Rei crosses her arms*
Keiko: “Uh..."
~
Keiko: "She has it! She has the thing!"
Rei: "Boy does that sound subtle."
~
Rei: “Monster!!!!"
Noir: "Are you talking to me?"
Rei: "Yes I am!!!"
~
Cherry: “Uh, Rei-Chan...."
Rei: "Yeah hi Sakura-San."
~
*gets her PreCure Palette*
Rei: “What is this toy?!!"
~
Cherry: “We're not letting you do all the work, Cure G."
GoldenAsh: “Cure G? Really?" Azure: “Cherry..."
Cherry: “I-I just think it's cute and less syllables."
~
Keiko: “Hey, Takeo-San, how did you know about us?"
Rei: “Oh, that?” *eye roll* “It's a cliché in every superhero book ever. I knew since we were at the café together. Like, originality? Anyone?"  ~
Keiko: “Hey, at least she didn't know everything! She didn't know Orenji can talk-"
Rei: “I knew that too."
*Imaginary stamp smacks Keiko in the head*
~
Rei: "Yeah... I love writing, so what?"
*Keiko squeals*
Rei: "I guess this means I can call you Keiko, right?"
Keiko: "Of course, Rei-Chan!"
*Keiko hugs Reis arm, continuing to squeal. Rei plugs one of her ears*
Rei: "This is going to take some getting used to..."
Episode 4:
*Cherry and GoldenAsh purify an Inkling from in a water tank*
*The purification launches Azure into a clone of that Inkling*
*Cherry runs off to help her*
GoldenAsh: *groans* "Not again!!!"
*She runs off as well*
~
*GoldenAsh and Azure purify an Inkling*
*Cherry missed her strike and slips*
Cherry: "No no no no no-!"
*She slides off and head butts with another Inkling*
*Azure runs off to help*
*GoldenAsh face palms*
~
*Arrows get shot at them*
*Azure tries to block it with a shield while Cherry and GoldenAsh are on the ground covering their heads*
GoldenAsh: "What did I do to deserve this?!!"
~
*Cherry and GoldenAsh purify an Inkling together*
*Cherry attempts to high five GoldenAsh, but she instead looks behind them and rolls her eyes*
*Theres a blue frog*
*Cherry uses her pen to turn the frog back to Azure*
Azure: "What just happened?!!!"
GoldenAsh: "Everything, Sora! Everything in your worst dreams!"
*Cherry laughs. GoldenAsh groans and stomps away*
~
*Cherry, Azure, and GoldenAsh are floating. Azure is trying to blast a finisher downwards. GoldenAsh has her arms crossed, bitterly staring at Cherry. Cherry grins nervously at her.*
~
*Cherry, Azure, and GoldenAsh are stuck in ice*
*GoldenAsh uses her fire spell to break them all out and she starts shivering*
Cherry: "I'm at you fiend!!"
*Throws a paint bomb that hits GoldenAsh in the back of the head. It explodes and covers her in pink paint*
*Cherry hides het hands behind her back*
GoldenAsh: "Ow!!"
*Cherry starts laughing it off and wraps her arm around GoldenAsh*
*As they walk away, GoldenAsh slouches and gives a death glare behind her*
~
*Cherry pulls out an electrical pole*
GoldenAsh: “Cherry, wait-!"
*Cherry throws the pole at the Inkling. It only makes the Inkling’s fire bigger, and it smacks a charging Azure to the side*
GoldenAsh: "Did you forget it absorbs electricity?!"
Cherry: "…Yes."
~
Azure: “I'm going to mark that as 'Fire Monster The Third.'"
GoldenAsh: “Oh wow," *eye roll* "How did you come up with such an original name?"
Azure: “Uh... Am I missing something?"
Cherry: “We won the match, Cure G! What's wrong with you?" GoldenAsh: “What's wrong with me?! What's wrong?! I'm tired of all this useless filler, that makes us act stupid! ‘What does that Inkling do?' It absorbs electricity to get stronger? 'I have a plan! Let's throw electricity at it!'"
Cherry: “It's not filler, it's... a breath of fresh air and a daily workout."
GoldenAsh: “So my daily workout is going to involve nearly burning to literal ash?"
Cherry: "Maybe...?"
~
GoldenAsh: "This is what I'm trying to say! We wait for a monster to come during the week and cause collateral damage, we step in, we have hour long transformations, and we avoid getting defeated long enough to shoot paint at its face!"
~
GoldenAsh: "So we don't need to change at all?! It's completely fine for you to almost get your teammates killed?!"
Cherry: “What? No, no, that's not what I'm saying at all! My plan didn't work the way I thought it would, that happens sometimes-"
GoldenAsh: “You didn't even think! For the past two weeks you haven't thought anything through before jumping into a plan! Whose idea was it to jump right into the sheep wool? Whose idea was it to get hit by the anti-gravity ray to make an 'air attack?!' Whose idea was it to feed to the Inklings?!"
Cherry: “I know what I'm doing!"
GoldenAsh: "If you knew what you were doing, you'd actually be smart!"
Cherry: “Did you just call me dense?!"
GoldenAsh: “Yes. Yes I did.”
Cherry: "You've just been arguing and not helping us!"
GoldenAsh: “Not helping?! I purified the past four Inklings! How am I not helping?!"
~
*Azure motions GoldenAsh to apologize*
GoldenAsh: "Really?"
Cherry: "You're agreeing it's my fault? I think you're just misunderstanding what I'm trying to say-"
GoldenAsh: “Are we?! I don't hear an apology!"
Cherry: “What do I have to apologize for?!"
Azure: "Rei..."
GoldenAsh: “What?!!"
Azure: “Rei..."
GoldenAsh: “I meant what I said! She needs to hear that. I'm giving her advice!"
~
Orenji: “So why don't we calm down, and regroup ourselves before we discuss our next move."
GoldenAsh: “Fine by me.”
*GoldenAsh walks away*
Cherry: "Wait, where are you going?!"
GoldenAsh: “Like Orenji said, I need some air, and some sleep."
~
Katara Takeo: “How was school?" Rei: “Fine.”
*Tosses her bag aside and throws her body on the couch*
Katara Takeo: “I assume something's wrong?"
Rei: "Same old, tired."
~
Katara Takeo: “You have a gift, and I'm not just saying that, you have a passionate gift with your skills, I don't know why you didn't want to pursue it."
Rei: “And look where door designing got you.”
~
Keiko: *whining* “I'm sorry, Rei-Chan!"
Rei: "What's going on?"
Keiko: “I'm so sorry about before! I-you-you were right, I was being impatient, I messed up, and I-I'm sorry! I got carried away!"
Rei: “H-hey... I accept your apology."
Keiko: “Really?!"
Rei: "Yeah... please stop squeezing my hand."
~
Sora: “And what do you plan to do?"
Orenji: "I... don't know."
Rei: "We're gonna lose..."
~
Orenji: “You know your shapes, right?"
Rei: "I don't know, did we pass kindergarten?”
*gets smacked in the face with a pen*
~
Rei: “I feel like this is a pointless demonstration of the toy palettes.”
Keiko: "They're not toys Rei, they're sources of magic."
Rei: “A toy, got it."
~
Rei: “I thought this came natural on television."
~
Rei: “Congratulations, we learned how to be freaks on the street."
Sora: “Now what?"
Orenji: "Want to go over your attacks?"
Sora & Rei: “NO!!!"
Keiko: "Yes!"
~
Keiko: “Let's make a banner! A banner resembling all three of us!"
Rei: "Who cares?"
~
Rei: “This is just filler, I'm telling you."
~
Sora: “Maybe we should reconsider our team name.”
Keiko: "It's fine."
Rei: “I'm so beyond saying things are fine.”
~
Keiko: “How long have we been working on this?"
Rei: "Enough for the sun to hate us."
~
Keiko: “Are you picky?"
Rei: "What makes you say that?!"
Keiko: “You scrapped off the onions. You're picky."
Rei: “We all have foods we don't like! That doesn't make me picky!"
Keiko: “Overreaction. Typically picky."
Rei: “I am not picky!!"
Keiko: "Just asking, I just noticed how small your plate is."
Rei: “Oh, that? That's because you're attempting an overload of cannibalism."
Keiko: “Excuse me?!!"
~
Keiko: “I know I don't know how to be a Pretty Cure, let alone any sort of leader-“
Rei: "I can tell."
Keiko: “I don't know your ways of doing art, I don't know when or when not to listen to you, it all just blurs in my head-“
Rei: “I can tell that too."  ~
Rei: “Further more, are you going to stop throwing torches at monsters heads?"
Keiko: "Your head's already a torch."
Rei: "A torch?!!!"
~
Keiko: “Don't worry, we can salvage this-"
*spills black paint everywhere*
*Rei slams her paintbrush on the ground, standing up with a fist clenched.*
*Her fist loosens after a break, and she walks away*
Keiko: "Wait, Rei!!! Rei-Chan! I'm sorry!!!! Rei!!!!"
~
Cherry: “Cure G! I'm sorry about what happened, okay?! You were-"
GoldenAsh: “Save it for when we finish this thing!"
*runs off* ~
Noir: “And how do you think you're going to save them?"
Azure: “She will!"
GoldenAsh: *struggling* "Even if she doesn't, we can get out ourselves!"
*they’re stuck in paper good*
GoldenAsh: "…This is tight."
~
*Cherry throws the Inkling back. GoldenAsh and Azure are stuck to it and nearly get slammed into the ground*
GoldenAsh: "Will you be careful?!!"
~
Azure: “A yen?!!"
GoldenAsh: "The savior's tool! Of course!"
Episode 5:
Keiko: “Yeah right, like a sophomore is going to walk up to us and be daring-"
Stranger: “You three!"
*Keiko shoves Orenji in a bag*
Rei: "That's what you get for opening your mouth.”
Stranger: “Move.”
Rei: "Why?"
Stranger: “You're in our spot. We always sit here."
Rei: “Don't start that with me! We got here first!"
Stranger: “We're older than you.”
Rei: "That makes no difference!"
~
Rei: “If you want the senpai so much, why don't you ask her?"
Keiko: “I will!"
*runs off*
Rei: "I was joking!"
~
*GoldenAsh gets her fist trapped in tin foil*
GoldenAsh: "What a rip off!"
Episode 6:
Keiko: “Guys! I have some news!"
Rei: “Do not say that you came up with a new banner design!"
Keiko: "Nope! Though, that's not a bad idea..."
Rei: “What's your point?!"
~
Keiko: “She's perfect! She's everything we need for our team! She's calm, humble, elegant, intellectual, and-"
Rei: “-Everything you're not?"
~
Akemi: “I have a show to attend this week, plus I have my chorus classes and dance lessons, and that acrobat class you guys found me in, so... I really don't have the time to play dress up."
Rei: “You play dress up all the time, what's the difference?"
Sora: "It's not dress up! I mean... okay it's a part of it, but the outfits are an awesome bonus!"
Midori: “Gina-san, we're heroes! We transform using these palettes, and we fight monsters that drain color, we're trying to... what's our goal again?"
Rei: “Exactly. That's great convincing."
Akemi: “So you have toys as well?"
Rei: "THANK YOU!! I've been saying that since the first time I saw it!"
~
Rei: “We just gave you our biggest secrets of all time, and you say no?!!"
~
Rei: “Well... That plan could have gone better."
~
Rei: “So... Miss perfect is also rich."
*Keiko and Midori run off to the limo.*
Rei: "Aren't you rich too?"
*Sora shrugs*
~
*The girls are in a limo. Rei is bored and on her phone*
~
Keiko: “Sora can help with her costume! Rei can do character studies with you to further get into it.” *Whispers to Akemi* “Though she is kind of bossy."
Rei: “I heard that!"  ~
Rei: “You are fire. You are a lone hunter whose main desire is to find light. Why do you want to find light?"
Akemi: “Because the script says so.”
Rei: "No! Never let that be the answer! You have to be into your character! You have to express the character using your acting skill, find a motivation that's not written in stone!"
*Rei gets up in Akemi’s face. Akemi crawls away from her*
~
Rei: “Tell you what? We can stretch it out, clear our minds." Akemi: “Uh... O-okay."
*Akemi does a vertical split on the floor. Rei only gets halfway*
Rei: "I-I can't move..."
Akemi: “You need help?"
Rei: "No, no... I-I got it..."
*Still can’t move*
~
Rei: “It was just one misstep no one noticed until she stopped, what's the problem?" ~
Midori: “She does not hate you. Akemi isn't someone to get mad about small slip ups like this, that's how I describe Rei."
Rei: “I get it guys! I'm really trying here!"  ~
Noir: “Nope! Still wrong!"
GoldenAsh: "That's not fair, you baited her!"
Noir: “And she fell for it! That's her fault!"
GoldenAsh: “Okay... No way to tell the difference which one is real?"
*One Inkling clone almost tackles her*
GoldenAsh: "Forget it!”
Episode 7:
Sora: “Shouldn't we form some sort of plan, like, what this lady's plan is or-"
Rei: “Isn't it obvious? She left us to rot."  ~
Rei: “Well we learned something, genius. Don't touch weird things!"
~
*Akemi and Keiko scream at the sight of Master Shokyo*
*Rei throws a rock at him.*
*The rock bounces off the beast with no faze*
Midori: "...nice shot.” ~
Rei: “How else can we get rid of these things?!"
*She uses her pen to blow fire at the bird Inklings.*
*They are unaffected, and they tackle her*
Keiko: “Rei-Chan!"
*Keiko uses her pen to shoot paint at the birds. All but one retreat*
*Rei punches the last bird off of her. That bird is unaffected and gleams at her*
*Rei yelps and gets behind Keiko*
Rei: "Never mind! Let's just run!!"  ~
Keiko: “See where I'm going with this?"
Rei: "That you're just spilling out basic logic?"  ~
*GoldenAsh’s fire attack misses Anka*
Anka: “I knew you were dumb, but wow..."
*GoldenAsh is smiling*
*The fire attack hits Azures mirror, turning the fire into a hotter blue color and reflecting it to hit Anka in the back. A tower of blue fire adds onto it*
GoldenAsh: “We must be total idiots then.”
~
Rei: “We're alive! We. Are. Alive!!"
~
Akemi: “I do not feel like we were trapped there for eight and a half hours."
Rei: “Who cares?! We're alive!!!!"
~
Orenji: “I'm a bird. What can I do-?"
Rei: “Everything!"
Episode 8:
*Keiko is half asleep. Midori is wide awake. Sora and Akemi have coffee. Rei is cranky*
~
Orenji: “Now, I have analyzed all your schedules and put together a routine for all of us at once! You will follow this and talk to me if there's any issue with something you may have that I missed. Otherwise, I will not take no for an answer!"
Rei: "No."
Orenji: “Push ups!!!"
Rei: "What?! W-what did I do-?!"
Orenji: “I heard that! Push ups! Now!"
*Rei obeys*
~
*Rei punches a hole in a tree*
Midori: “That tree suffered such an unfortunate fate..." ~
Orenji: “I told you five to sleep, and you didn't! There's no reason for that!"
Rei: “Sorry we have homework. Brought to us by the education system provided. No sleeping on the job."
~
Orenji: “Why are your hands bandaged?"
Keiko: “I cut myself.”
Orenji: "That many times?!!"
Sora: “Yes! She-uh- a part of her homework was stitching, and she... she pricked her fingers on the needles over and over again."
Rei: “That's putting it lightly.”
Keiko: "Rei-Chan!"
~
Orenji: “Twenty times twelve times eight!"
Rei: “A thousand eight hundred thirty.”
Orenji: "I can't hear you!"
Rei: “A thousand eight hundred thirty! I need to know math to fight monsters!"
Orenji: “You don't! But we're keeping your minds sharp! And that's not even the right answer!"
Keiko: “You're not good at math, Rei?"
*Rei has no more face*
Orenji: "Keiko! Ten times one times four!"
*Keiko tries to take out paper, but gets a whistle blown in her face*
Orenji: "Ten times one times four!"
Keiko: “Uh... Ten!"
*Whistle blown*
Keiko: "Four!"
*Whistle blown*
Keiko: “…ten times one times four!"
*Whistle blown. Keiko falls off her seat*
Sora: "Forty!"
Rei: "Don't make fun of me when you're just as bad."
~
Orenji: “Wrong leg!"
Rei: “You said left!"
*Whistle blown*
*Rei snatches the whistle*
Rei: "Enough with that thing!"
~
Midori: “Really?! Oh gosh! Akemi! Where did she go?!"
Akemi: “Midori...?"
Midori: "That tree just spoke to me, did you hear what I heard?"
Rei: “Can you hear my phrase right now?"
*She trips over*
Orenji: “Okay! Enough playing around! Someone took my whistle, and I really don't want to saturate my voice."
*Coughs at Rei*
~
Midori: “You're clearly tired as well, Orenji.”
Sora: "Yeah, you've been doing so much work in helping us by the looks of it."
Rei: “Guys, he's causing this-"
Akemi: “We're fine, Orenji. Really."
~
Rei: “Well, unless I find my folders, I guess I have nothing better to do other than, I don't know, sleep?! Something I forgot how to do!"
Midori: “Wait... You lost your folders too?"
Rei: “Yeah, so? I can live with that."
~
GoldenAsh: *slapping herself in the face* “Snap... out of it..."
*passes out*
~
*GoldenAsh yanks her hair*
GoldenAsh: "SNAP OUT OF IT!!!!"
*Slaps Cherry in the face to wake her up*
GoldenAsh: *holding her nose* "You need to get up and stop smelling the flowers, got it?!!”*gasp* “Orenji is your partner, right?!” *gasp* “Would a partner let each other down, especially when he pulled a new trick on the spot to save you...?!"*gasp*”You can't...” *gasp* “…let that bird down..."*is about to pass out*
*Cherry slaps her, then starts shaking her*
Cherry: *holding her nose* “You can't either, Cure G!!” *gasp* “You're his partner as well, and I don't care what insult you have to give him, he is worth saving!!!!” *gasp* “I am not going to take this training and this role solo over here!!!"*gasp* "Besides...” *gasp* “…if you're gonna...” *gasp* “…smell the flowers...” *gasp* “…do it in style..." *is about to pass out*
*GoldenAsh slaps her, then starts shaking her*
GoldenAsh: "I know how to smell flowers just fine, Cherry!!! So don't you dare do this on your own, and don't you leave me in the back again!!!"
Cherry: “Like with the math?"
GoldenAsh: “Oh no, I'm not as bad as you."
~
Keiko: “We should all sleep this weekend, replenish and find better training, even for our little assistant here."
Rei: "About time."
Episode 9:
Sora: “You mean you lived here? It's... actually functional for a bird, fruit trees, trees in general, water, privacy."
Rei: "Keep up all those basic facts, Sora-Chan. I couldn't have guessed that."
~
Sora: “I didn't know birds give each other names.”
Rei: "Oh? You expected them to refer to each other as macaw 1, macaw 2, and macaw 918131?"
~
*Rei and Midori are playing volleyball together*
*Midori slams the ball in the sand and wins*
Rei: "Cheats!"
~
*Rei and Midori continue to play volleyball.*
*Midori wins again*
Rei: "How are you so good...?"
*a wave crashes onto Rei*
~
Keiko: “I'm sure they're just beating it at the sun without us. Which is why the sun will guide us to them!"
*A cloud floats over and blocks the sun.*
Rei: “Wow. The sun hates you." ~
Worker: “What are you doing here?"
Rei: "Uh..."
Keiko: “Magic."
Worker: “…okay.”
*he walks away*
Rei: “How did that work-?!"
Keiko: "I have no idea!"
~
Akemi: “Where are they?!"
Rei: "Let me guess, they got kidnapped."
*Noir appears*
Noir: “By me!"
Rei: "Yeah, I figured.” ~
*Inkling roars in their faces*
Rei: "Hello conflict.” ~
*Cherry, GoldenAsh, and Crimson charge at the Inkling*
*Then they run away as the Inkling chases them*
~
Cherry: “Aha!!"
*gets on the Inkling to ride it, but it tries to buck her off*
Cherry: “Guys?!"
GoldenAsh: "That's on you!!"
*GoldenAsh and Crimson are still running*
GoldenAsh: “Crimson! Do you... I don't know, have any logic on how these chase sequences usually end in movie land?!"
Crimson: "Usually... They would last... as long as they need to... before one side gets an advantage..."
*Crimson grabs a vine*
GoldenAsh: "How much forest does this island have?!!!"
~
*GoldenAsh and Cherry go over a canyon, hugging each other as they scream*
*Crimson saves them with her star glyphs*
*They both get repelled and crash into the trees*
~
Crimson: “GoldenAsh! Help me cut this!"
*GoldenAsh sends a flaming karate chop on the bridge rope*
*It doesn’t break. She’s wincing in pain from her swelling hand*
GoldenAsh: “Ow!! What are these ropes made of? Steel?!"
Noir: “Yes.” ~
Sora: “Are you girls okay?!"
GoldenAsh: "Oh, we're fine. Just normal casualties is all."
*Cherry crashes behind them*
*They don’t turn around*
GoldenAsh: “Anyway... Why don't we get you out of here?" ~
Crimson: “We're not gonna make it!"
Cherry: "Yes! I believe it!!"
GoldenAsh: “Great! I believe that we're not gonna make it!" ~
GoldenAsh: “Eh?! You turned us into birds?!"
~
Cherry: “We're coming guys!"
*Jumps to fly…*
*Then crashes back down*
GoldenAsh: “You're a pro.” ~
Crimson: “They'd use ropes to hover the actors, to make it look like they're flying!"
GoldenAsh: “I'm sure we all have that experience, Crimson!"
Cherry: “How can you complain when we're flying?"
~
GoldenAsh: "I know her name's Cure Cherry, but I think you'd rather taste fire!"
*The two zip around the Inkling to distract it*
Cherry: "What's tastier than a cherry, huh Cure G?!"
GoldenAsh: "How about a strawberry?"
Cherry: "Nah, I think cherries are a tastier fruit..."
GoldenAsh: “I think not! With those seeds..."
Cherry: “Strawberries have seeds too!"
GoldenAsh: “All fruits have seeds, are you dense?!"
Cherry: “No, t-that's not true! Uh... papayas don't!"
GoldenAsh: “Wow, you've never had papaya before!"
Cherry: “Then how about mango?"
GoldenAsh: “Yes, they have seeds."
Cherry: “Apples?"
GoldenAsh: “Yes.”
Cherry: “Oranges?"
GoldenAsh: “Yes.”
Cherry: “Blueberries?"
GoldenAsh: “Yes.”
Cherry: “When they're that small?!!!"
*Everyone else, especially the Inkling, are dizzy out of their minds*
Cherry: "Bananas!" *flies down to a tree*
GoldenAsh: “Bananas? Bananas... Wait, do they have seeds?"
*Cherry comes back with a banana*
Cherry: “No! But these can sprout back our friends!"
Episode 10:
Rei: “You two hiding?"
Keiko: “Rei-Chan! Yeah, I'm ready! I-I was just working on a certain painting..."
*Keiko shows it to Rei, who turns red*
Keiko: “You like it?"
Rei: “You want the truth? It looks awful, what were you even trying to accomplish with that?"
Sora: “Maybe you could be more specific?"
Keiko: “I mean, I did speed it... Oh well, it was... a try."
Rei: “And when you don't speed something, it looks better, right?"
Keiko: “Yes. It does... I... i-it's... I don't..."
*Keiko trails off, eyes on Rei*
Rei: “Keiko? You alive?"
Keiko: “Not much longer… I-I mean yes! Yes, I'm alive! You ready for this?"
Rei: “I wouldn't be standing here if I wasn't. Come on, Sora-Chan."
~
Rei: “You're Keiko's family, right?"
Ahmya Sakura: "Yeah... You know Keiko?"
Rei: “We're tight.”
Sora: "By 'tight,' you mean..."
~
Katara Takeo: “Rei-Chan!"
Rei: "Mom..."
*She gets bear hugged*
Katara Takeo: “Hi, I'm Takeo Katara!"
Asahi Sakura: "Nice to meet you." Katara Takeo: I'm just thrilled to see my kid make some good friends in this school!"
Rei: "Mom, they're just people I hang out with."
~
Keiko: “So, what do you think?"
Katara Takeo: "You could use improvement, definitely.”
Rei: "That's taking things lightly."
Keiko: “Uh... Okay...?"
~
Katara Takeo: “So where's your booth, Rei?"
Rei: "I uh- I-I didn't make one."
Katara: “What? But you have such talent, you should be showing off!"
Fumiko Sakura: “Maybe she doesn't want to reveal her true identity.”
Rei: “Yeah, because that's exactly what I said."
~
Asahi Sakura: “You two know her?!"
Keiko: “We uh- We're... business partners."
Rei: “How did you get your hands on a grill?!"
~
Fumiko Sakura: “‘You will reach a successful career one day, and your siblings will be jealous.’”
Rei: "What kind of fortune is that?!!"
~
Keiko: “‘You have a style that no one will understand but yourself.’”
Rei: “I mean, that's not wrong.”
Keiko: “You're one to talk! Not even making a booth!"
Rei: "Am I?"
*Arrows are in Keiko’s heart*
Fumiko Sakura: “I'll be at your wedding.”
Keiko: “So do you think this sketch looks good?"
Rei: "How should I know? You haven't made it yet."
Keiko: *blushes* "I must have been distracted."
~
Ahmya Sakura: “Isn't that impressive?"
Keiko: “It's... It's accurate."
Rei: “Oh really? I-Cure GoldenAsh does not act like that!"
*She has the same position as the picture*
~
Fumiko Sakura: “Cure Cherry on the other hand... I don't know about her."
*Keikos devastated*
Rei: “I feel the same way.” *puts an arm around Keiko*
Keiko: *is dying inside* “And I think it's a great impression of those Cures!"
~
Katara Takeo: “Aren't you glad you're an only child?"
*Rei nods yes*
*Ichiro forces a seat next to her*
Rei: "No..."
Katara Takeo: “I assume you're Ichiro?"
Ichiro: "You know me?"
Katara Takeo: "My daughter told me all about you."
Rei: “Mom!"
Ichiro: "I assume she's said great, loving things about me."
Katara Takeo: “She told me you put staples on her chair two months ago, and then you denied it, and the teachers didn't believe her."
Ichiro: “I did no such thing! She likes me, she just doesn't understand what a joke is."
Rei: “I get a joke perfectly fine, Ichiro! And if you really want me, you wouldn't be pushing me around, every. single. day!!"
Ichiro: “Touchy. I guess you're just blind."
*Rei throws hot sauce at Ichiro’s face*
Katara Takeo: “Rei?!"
Rei: "We're moving!"
Katara Takeo: “Rei, why did you do that?!"
Rei: “He deserved it!"
Katara Takeo: "He's just trying to know you!"
Rei: “Know me?! Mom, I told you! Boys don't actually like me! And I'm not even into guys, okay?! I can choose myself who I want to hang out with!"
*throws her food in the trash and stomps away*
Ichiro: “You're hot sauce in of itself, Takeo-san!! A piece of work!! I'll reach your heart!!!"
~
Rei: “Keiko..."
Keiko: “Oh, hi Rei-Chan! I uh-I didn't mean to drop that, I just-"
Rei: “Keiko.”
Keiko: “I was just-"
Rei: “Keiko.”
Keiko: “I was trying to-"
Rei: “Will you-"
Keiko: “I was going to, anyway-"
Rei: “Listen-?"
Keiko: “I was wondering if-"
Rei: “KEIKO-CHAN!"
Keiko: "Will you help me fix that flower?"
Rei: "What? What's wrong with it?"
Keiko: “Nothing! It's just, I-I don't know, I just want to fix it."
Rei: “Who said you had to 'fix it?'"
Keiko: "I did! So? You do it all the time!"
Rei: “Okay, wait-"
Keiko: “I made it-"
Rei: “I don't-"
Keiko: “For my parents-"
Rei: “I'm not like-"
Keiko: “And I'm just-"
Rei: “I'm not trying to put you down-"
Keiko: “I don't know."
Rei: “You don't know?"
Keiko: "No."
Rei: “What do you not know?"
Keiko: “I don't know.”
Rei: “You don't know what you don't know?"
Keiko: “No.”
Rei: “No what? You think I'm just not going to know how to respond?"
Keiko: “No!"
Rei: “My answer is no! Cause I don't! I'm just trying to have a good day, I get trampled by the creep that is Ichiro-san, and you're asking for something you don't know what to ask about-"
Keiko: “Do you think my parents will like that flower?"
Rei: "How should I know? I'm not your mom!"
Keiko: “You might as well be..."
Rei: *blushing* "Well I'm not! Okay?!"
~
Keiko: “Girls, let's deal with this Inkling!"
Midori, Akemi, & Sora: “Right!"
Rei: “I don't know..."
*everyone stares at her*
Rei: "I didn't say I wasn't gonna help him! I'm not brutal, I'm just honest."
Episode 11:
Sora: “She got detention for spilling paint and staining the floors. Honestly what did they expect from her?"
Rei: “This is an art school. Getting punished for something common is dumb."
~
Orenji: “I'm not completely sure... but I think there's Neon Pens in this thing."
Sora: "How?!"
Rei: "Why does that have to be convenient?!"
~
*Midori is trying to break the crystal*
Akemi: “Midori-"
*Rei snatches the crystal from Midori*
*Midori falls in the fountain*
Rei: “Midori, you can't just do that to a very important plot device!"
~
Rei: “‘I am passionate that a rock will give me superpowers!'"
Orenji: “Keiko, you could join us!"
Rei: "You sure are late."
Keiko: “Sorry... I dozed off during class, so I spilled a jar of paint. The teacher made me clean it during lunch."
Rei: “I still think that's a weird reason to get detention.”
~
Sora: “What if we accidentally turn someone into a frog or something?"
Rei: "If it's Ichiro, I'll be happy." Midori: “That'd be neat. We could make cookies that turn people into frogs."
Rei: “I hope I get turned into a frog then..."
Keiko: "Me too!"
Rei: “Okay, you know what my suggestion is?"
*draws on the board*
Keiko: “Where does the door go?"
Rei: "Away from here."
*walks away and stuffs her face with noodles*
Keiko: “You know what, it's Rei.”
~
Sora: “If the villains come in to try and take from us, or if an outside force barges in, we should have several measures like cameras, traps, alarms, backup plans...."
*Keikos playing with her origami, Midori is half asleep, Rei is eating*
Sora: "Is that boring?"
Rei: *mouth full* "What? Sorry, wasn't paying attention, my food was more interesting than that stuff."
Sora: “Why are you like this?"
~
*Rei has earbuds on*
Sora: "Rei-Chan.”
*Rei removes a bud*
Rei: "Read a textbook, memorize it, spit its words on the exam, got it."
Sora: “Okay, there's more to studying than that, and you can't just block stuff you don't want to hear with those plugs."
*Rei puts the bud back in*
Sora: "Okay... maybe you can..."
~
Rei: “Those don't look anything like our designs.”
Keiko: "I know, just... it's nice to reimagine every once in awhile, you know?"
Rei: “Well you make me look cool, so I can't complain.”
~
Keiko: “Karen has done us dirty coloring mud?"
Rei: "No."
~
Rei: “My head hurts. I guess that's a good sign."
~
Keiko: “In the rain? He could get a cold!"
Sora, Rei, & Akemi: “Birds can't get colds!"
~
Rei: “So what you're saying is that this is a trap, but we're gonna fall right into it anyway?!”
~
*GoldenAsh pokes her pen at Anka to get her off of Cherry*
GoldenAsh: “You mess with her, you mess with me! Give Orenji back! We're not asking you again!!"
~
Teal: “So the gem is white instead of black?!"
GoldenAsh: "Who cares?!"
~
Azure: “I think that whitener powers the Inklings up, making it immune to our attacks!"
GoldenAsh: “Thanks obvious! So what do we do to stop it?!"
~
*A bird is flying away with Reis earbuds. Rei is chasing it*
~
Midori: “Rei-!"
*Rei and the bird accidentally knock over a streamer*
Rei: *holding her earbuds* "I got them! They're mine!"
Episode 12:
TV Character: “So you see... One time you misplaced your paint brush... when it was right in front of the desk!!"
Rei: *laughs hysterically*
Sora: “That's just completely off topic to the situation..."
Orenji: "The kid made a history film that the teacher doesn't like, kept the outline a secret, and now there's a riot about nitpicks?"
Rei: “And this is supposed to help 'change lives!' This is so bad..."
~
Orenji: “Art schools are strict, but to this degree, I'm concerned."
*Rei is laughing*
Sora: "How is this funny, Rei-Chan? It's an awful video."
Rei: “That's WHY it's funny! The lesson isn't 'research because it's helpful,' it's 'research because otherwise you'll be punished with extra schoolwork."
*Starts laughing to tears*
Rei: “You guys don't get my sense of humor.” ~
Sora: “Hi, Keiko-Chan.”
Keiko: "Hi, how are you guys?"
Rei: “Watching a bad video.”
Keiko: "If it's bad, why watch it?"
Sora: “Apparently it's so people can rant about how bad it is... or just to laugh at it."
*Reis smile drops*
Keiko: "Would you guys laugh at my work if it was terrible?"
Sora & Orenji: “What? No!"
Rei: "Depends."
*They look at Rei*
Rei: "What? Depends if it's the hilarious kind of garbage."
Orenji: “You're really supportive, Rei.”
~
Keiko: “Well I can't get Akemi-Chan for the project, she has a show. I already asked her."
Sora: “Then hire Rei..."
*Rei is scrolling through the comment section and laughing*
Rei: "’This video is so inspirational. It taught me to value books with my life.’”
Sora: “Actually, no. Don't even think about asking Rei for help on this."
~
Keiko: “Hey, it's okay, she's not scary, she's just... I don't know how else to finish that."
Rei: “Wow, thanks.”
*Keiko puts her arm around Rei*
Keiko: “Rei-Chan, this is Yasuhiro Jiro, my old friend. Jiro-Chan, this is Rei-Chan, my new friend... We're all super close here."
*Rei blushes*
Jiro: “That sounds weird.”
Keiko: “Everything I say sounds weird."
*Keiko puts a finger over Reis lips*
Keiko: "You do not need to confirm that."
~
Rei: “Hey, can I order a plate of mochi?"
Keiko: *mocking* “No."
Midori: "What flavor?"
Rei: “Vanilla.”
Keiko: “Strawberry."
Keiko: "You're boring."
~
Jiro: “There’s also different editing between different camera shots, where you take every single one separately..."
*Keiko and Rei space out. Rei slams her head on the table*
Jiro: “And... yeah, that's what it's about. You guys have a copy too, I think."
Rei: "I burned my copy just as good as you burned my brain."
Jiro: “Oh... I'm sorry, I-I have a problem."
Rei: “What? No you don't! You just... okay, yes, you have a problem, but it's your problem, so you should be proud of your... enthusiasm for drawings in motion."
Keiko: “You call that an apology?"
Rei: "I don't know what that is."
Keiko: “You're fine, Jiro.”
~
Rei: "I'm not really good at writing..."
Keiko: "What are you talking about? Writing is your specialty!"
Rei: “You have no proof.”
Keiko: "Your writing got us an A on the creative writing project."
Jiro: "Wait, you're a writer?"
Rei: “It's-it's private writing!"
Midori: "At least act a scene.”
*Rei smirks and snatches the mochi plate, laughing maniacally*
Rei: "At long last, my vengeance against mochi is behind me! I finally get a taste of the sweetness of my own, ALL the mochi in my grasp to be savored in my mouth. And NO ONE is here to stop me or have a bite of their own!"
Keiko: "No... I want a mochi..."
*Midori pulls out a chopstick*
Rei: "Who dares cross my path?!"
Midori: "Only the great savior of mochi. I am Mochi Pan!"
*Rains powder*
Rei: "And yet you use a chopstick against me?! I say we settle this like real men, on the mochi arena!"
Keiko: “Can I join?"
Rei: "Fine.”
*All three of them pick up a chopstick as if it’s gonna be a fight…*
*but they instead snatch a mochi to eat and start laughing. It’s a fun tone killer to the scene*
~
Rei: “I don't think it has lens on the back of its head.”
~
GoldenAsh: “Remind me not to watch cringe on a daily basis.”
~
GoldenAsh: “I hate taking pictures!"
~
Jiro: “Sorry, sorry, it's just-"
Rei: “He's freaking out.”
Jiro: "I'm not freaking out! I'm taking it in, with an unhealthy way of doing so."
Rei: “Yeah, he's freaking out. I think we just doomed ourselves."
~
Shiro: “So this is the place where you hold students prisoners and make them work their childhoods away?"
*Everyone else is silent. Rei laughs*
Rei: “I'm sorry... But I've been saying that since fourth grade! Thank you!"
(I both love and hate this character)

Sketched Artistry Pretty Cure (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/story/283951149-sketched-artistry-pretty-cure?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_myworks&wp_uname=AnalyzGolden&wp_originator=OCpWjhkRjSujKtr6Um4ve1pYIE8Nt2JNeGBEOajG9fYdsOXy5JOOEtg1fgvmQuPkp6AgkKSDXd9LkUg%2Br1TNtdq477KslTHCcHi29SgAn4aVlipWxNrCmfG%2Bhs2E4NAt The Canvas Corner was a land that fed on creative desires from earth, the fairies harnessing these to grant color and beauty upon both worlds in return. It was one day attacked abruptly by creature named Master Shokyo, and the land was erased along with every other Pretty Cure in the land that tried to stop him. Orenji, the last surviving fairy, retreated to earth carrying the regret of failing to save his friend Cure Mastery. Upon his arrival, he rescued a corner of Japan. Keiko Sakura, when she was a child, failed to impress her classmates with a painting she made and she was used as a victim to Master Shokyo's lackey, Anka, where they take advantage of human's creative aspirations and erase them from their minds, this turning them to nothing but stone and using the remains to become their monsters called Inklings, the victim can only be saved when said Inkling is defeated, and their pages are returned inside of them by Pretty Cures. Orenji used the last of his power to save Keiko, and she caught a glimpse of Orenji's silhouette, as well as him stating that creativity was a treasure, before he turned into a dove for what seemed like an eternity. Years later, Keiko attends Sketching Crafts Academy with her friends to continue her aspiration as a painter, and she finds herself reuniting with Orenji and becoming the first Pretty Cure to appear in years, the pink painter, Cure Cherry. Keiko, along with her teammates, Sora Ayano as Cure Azure, Rei Takeo as Cure GoldenAsh, Midori Chokawa as Cure Teal, and Akemi Gina as Cure Crimson, work as the new generation of Pretty Cure to return creativity to its former glory. DISCLAIMER: This is a fanmade season of the Toei Animation franchise Pretty Cure. While these characters are my own, the Pretty Cure concept is not, as that right goes to Toei Animation.

Based on my fanfic season ‘Sketched Artistry Pretty Cure’
Rei Takeo is a highly talented loner. She values good will and effort with a passion, and does everything to show people these things, no matter what format she has to show them with. She is also highly talented with her athleticism, her intellect, and especially her singing and her writing, as she is highly known by the teachers as a fantastical novelist. But while she does have some well meaning moments, Rei comes across to others as unapproachable, given she is tough, hot headed, and incredibly strict about helping others. She can have a really sarcastic demeanor at points. When she sees something she doesn’t approve of, she’s quick to jump in the fight and call people out, even if she becomes a victim in the process. If it gets to a point where Rei becomes in the wrong and things don’t go her way, she becomes distant, and even stubborn. Rei really does care about people’s well being though, and she does her best to stand up for them. However, she can never seem to stand up for herself, and its because of this that she refuses to show her creative side to anyone, telling people that she’s not creative and that she can’t write, even if the opposite is the truth.
Her refusal to show people her artwork came from trauma in her past. Before Rei was this tough jock, she was an even sweeter girl, more energetic, and kinder, where she came across by many as weird, but beautiful, and back then she showcased her talents to everyone, especially through her writing. It was bad enough that her tough demeaner now made vocalists shun her out despite her good voice. But one day, her elementary class had to write a fantasy story for a school report, and when Rei wrote her story, it blew her entire class away, to a point where she was granted an award for her work by her entire school that she would receive in the spring... that would have changed Rei’s life forever, if it weren’t for the fact that when she revealed her talents, it caused people to become jealous and turn on her. Someone she thought was a friend did exactly that, manipulated Rei and got her suspended, ensuring that people Rei thought were friends looked down on her and called her a hack, that she didn’t deserve her admiration and that she was essentially worthless, that Rei’s writing was nothing but a crime that would destroy her in her life. All of that, where this ex-friend treated it as advice, that Rei should not show her creative side because stuff like this would happen again. And that scared Rei for life, where she only gained enemies by showing her creative side and she felt so ashamed of her reward that she threw it away and hid her book somewhere she could forget. Rei never trusted anyone again, and never let people know that she could write. She still did write, as it was what made her happy, but she never showed anyone them. She even cut her hair to ruin her gorgeous look, so that nobody could think she was worth anything, even if her kind will still lingers in her where she tries to help others be better at themselves.
Rei was taken to Sketching Crafts Academy against her will by her mother, because her mother recognized Rei’s writing talent and wanted her daughter to express it to people again. Rei was not thrilled with going to this school, and she kept her nose in a book and pushed people away. That is until she meets Keiko Sakura, a girl who was just as naïve with showcasing her art as Rei was, but when she first crashed into Keiko at the art museum, she pushed her away, but not before she granted Keiko advice on how to better her bird painting.
About a week later at a park, Keiko ended up getting run over by jocks who scold her for her sketch she was making on the spot. Rei sees this and jumps in to defend Keiko, claiming that she was minding her own business and so should they, but when they don’t listen, she throws her book at them. Once they retreat, Keiko thanks Rei, but Rei only stubbornly tells her to be careful where she steps before she continues her walk to class. Keiko however, not only thought Rei was cool, but also followed her because Rei didn’t pick up her book after the encounter, so Keiko tried to give it back. Keiko does figure out that Rei is in her class, and becomes confused when Rei claims to their teacher that she couldn’t write, but ends up getting the highest score in the class on storyboarding, and Keiko realizes that she had never seen a fantasy book like the one Rei had in their libraries. Keiko does eventually find the chance to give Rei back her book, and she asks where Rei got it, but Rei states that it’s none of her business. Keiko however recognizes a yellow neon pen Rei was using to write in the book, and she realizes that Rei wrote that story herself. They do get to express their efforts to each other, with Rei presenting herself as an altruist and Keiko looking up to her as a talented writer and leagues ahead of her. Keiko even tries to encourage Rei to show off her book for their upcoming short story project, but Rei refuses and comments that Keiko doesn’t understand the success of art as much as she thinks she does. Keiko manages to tell Sora about Rei having a neon pen, but by the time their project gets explained, Keiko is partnered up with Rei on it. Sora does try to look after Keiko given that fact, but Rei and Keiko are eventually forced to work on it as just the two of them. The whole time, Rei offers Keiko’s ideas for a story, but its soon realized that Keiko is both creative and disorganized, where Rei tries to improve her ideas as a logical yet passionate writer, and Rei isn’t afraid to call out Keiko’s wild style. (Honestly, Keiko and Rei were the first OCs I made for this series, and they became huge foils to each other as a result, Keiko being an open yet overly naïve with a wild creative style, and Rei being more stubborn and practical with a passionate style in artwork.) They get their short story with some extra editing from Sora, and it becomes a good success... except for the fact that Rei completely denies having any credit for the project, where Keiko felt the opposite. Keiko finally decides to reread the storyboards they made together, as well as look into Rei’s novel to see her talent for herself, and it only makes Keiko want to figure out why Rei is so hard on herself when she clearly has a creative passion. Keiko finds Rei at the same park where she helped her, and Keiko tries to convince Rei that she should embrace her passions, and that Keiko saw for herself that she has it, but it only makes Rei throw the book away and tell Keiko that no one cares for her, or her passion, why would someone care now? Keiko claims that she cares, and that gets Rei to hesitate, asking Keiko if she actually liked what she read, to which Keiko claims that she loved it.
A new monster is created awhile later, and Rei is knocked to a tree. Keiko and Sora transform into Cure Cherry and Cure Azure to fight it, but because the creature fights with fire, neither of their finishers manage to work on it. (I forgot to mention, Cure Cherry fights with paint, her finisher being ‘Cherry Splatter’ where she uses paint bombs. Cure Azure however fights with glitches and can use fabric as chains, her finisher being ‘Azurica Calculation’ where she glitches color onto the monsters) The general finds the short story Keiko and Rei made together, and he rips it apart in disgust, where this catches Rei’s eye as she wakes up, triggering her. Rei scolds the general for destroying a great fantasy, recalling her previous talk with Keiko that gets her to realize Keiko’s identity as Cure Cherry, and Rei actively jumps in front to protect her new friend, even throwing an extinguisher at the monster with equal hot headed energy. Rei expresses that she doesn’t know how to show people her art, but she loves writing fantasies, and those fantasies should be treated with the same love she put into them. This awakens her power as the third member, and the fire powered cure of the team as the golden writer, Cure GoldenAsh. (Cure Cherry nicknames her Cure G)
Rei still continues to be a foil to Keiko as a counter to the pink lead, as they both have different ways of approaching being Pretty Cure that they don’t always agree with. Keiko is a kind and active leader, but had insane ideas that don’t always pan out, plus she is naïve about criticism, especially when the pressure of public appreciation for artwork and the ego that plagues every artist comes into play later in the story. Rei meanwhile is very strict with how things run and isn’t afraid to call out her teammates for better or worse, and it sometimes blinds her into thinking she’s the only one who knows what to do, even when she doesn’t. However, the two despite being opposites, are able to call out each other and compliment each other at the same time, Rei helping Keiko deal with social pressure in being an artist, and Keiko encouraging Rei slowly but surely to return to her authorship.
So I kind of created an art themed Pretty Cure. Add it to the list of Wattpad stories I claim I’m going to make, but never do. And if you know me, I love this concept of literal creativity, and since I’ve been on a magical girl run lately, why not make an art themed Pretty Cure. Seriously, I only briefly made this about a year ago, forgot about it, and bought it back in just two weeks with characters and their story arcs. So let me know if you want me to do something like this for the other Cures in this fanmade season, or if you actually want me to make one.

Based on my fanmade season ‘Sketched Artistry Pretty Cure’
Sora Ayano is Keiko Sakura’s best friend. They had been friends since they were kids, and each other, along with Jiro, were the only people who actively understood each other’s creative ambitions. Keiko and her paintings, Jiro and his aspiration to be an animator, and Sora’s talent in designing. She’s the calmest of this trio, and is like the mother figure to her two energetic friends, this may make her come off as a stern nerd and even shy, but she always values honesty and love.
When Sora was a kid, she saw a fashion show around the last week she would see her mother, and it blew her away. She could tell from the outfit’s elegance that the designer, Lolita Kei, had such creative ambition that put her through so much work on something she was passionate of. So when the show ended, and her family was leaving, Sora told her parents “Mom, dad, I know what I want to do with my life. I want to make dresses like Lolita Kei.” While her mom supported this dream, her dad claimed to his daughter “You’re not Lolita Kei, and you never will be. There are so many people in the world wanting to recreate the passion of Lolita Kei, and you never will.” This stuck with Sora for years and kept her from pursuing that dream as a fashion designer, as what she heard from that line was ‘you’re not good enough, you never will be, so don’t try.’ A short while later, her mom passed away, and her father as the years went on, tried to get his daughter enrolled in a business career, as he believes artists don’t make enough money to salvage life. Sora had kept her grades up for him, and even landed a role as vice president, but she still had a passion for fashion designing underneath, and now lying to her father that Sketching Crafts Academy was a business school, she’s left with the burden on what she wishes to accomplish in her life.
Around the first days of school, Sora and her friends would attend a class that was going over measurements. Sora and Jiro both ace this work, and Keiko decides to try and recruit them, where she privately tells them how she became a Pretty Cure, and that they both have the potential to become these warriors as well... but neither of them believe her, even Sora thinking its another one of Keiko’s crazy fantasies. Orenji tackles Keiko to call her out for telling them something that sacred out of the blue, and Sora tries to help her not realizing the bird is talking. Keiko stops putting that pressure on Sora, but she clearly still wanted Sora as a teammate. They help each other out in the week, Sora helping Keiko with her measuring, and Keiko convincing her to design a fashion jacket, which Sora is hesitant of because of her father’s strict nature. Eventually Sora does figure out Orenji can talk, and that Keiko was telling the truth, and she tries to research the paint board and the neon pen that made Keiko transform, even trying to research Orenji to his annoyance. Keiko explains that she found the pen after she helped Orenji at the museum, and she used it on her bird painting on him, where that painting turned into the board that helped her transform once she signed it temporarily with her pen (I forgot to mention this before, these neon pens are the McGuffins, and the object they draw on using the pen turns into these paint pads that they can use to sign with the pen and transform.) The insane thing after these researches is that Sora comes to the conclusion that the more of these supposed pens Keiko collects, the more power she could contain, which may be linked to Orenji’s curse weakening. Upon this knowledge, Orenji finds a blue neon pen and decides that Sora deserves one as well, which Sora denies, claiming that she isn’t skilled enough or even confident enough to be a Pretty Cure. Keiko however encourages her to take the pen anyway, coming up with a temporary codename for Sora as Cure Blueberry, which Sora doesn’t like. Sora, on her own time after being lectured by her father about facts being truth, uses the neon pen anyway on her jacket to make glittery trims on it which really sells the design.
The next day another monster attacks, and Sora is caught in the action after trying to find Keiko to show her the jacket. Keiko as Cure Cherry, tries to save the other clothing in the shop that the monster was destroying, one of them being Sora’s jacket. She gets caught in a grasp however after she can’t use her attack without getting paint staining the fabric, and Cherry still remains optimistic despite her pinch that art is more than just something you wear, its what expresses you. Sora hears these words, and she actively tries to save her friend. She manages to trip the monster over with a measuring tape, but it would take another miracle from a neon pen to officially add her to the team, her jacket becoming her contract. Thus she becomes the blue designer, Cure Azure.
So I kind of created an art themed Pretty Cure. Add it to the list of Wattpad stories I claim I’m going to make, but never do. And if you know me, I love this concept of literal creativity, and since I’ve been on a magical girl run lately, why not make an art themed Pretty Cure. I NEED HELP
So you know how I've been releasing Sketched Artistry on Wattpad?
Well while I was working on it, the page suddenly closes down and I can't click on anything at all! I tried remaking the page, but I can't click on anything or see anything anymore, all I see on the screen is a loading screen that goes nowhere, nothing is accessible for me, I can’t even log out. I even tried restarting my whole computer and it didn't fix it.
I don't think I've been banned or anything, cause I would have been informed that's the case, but seriously, has anyone run into this problem? How do I fix this? I NEED HELP
