You always so informed and smart in analyzing. Do not let hate get you down. Is there anything books you can recommended
That's so kind of you. Actually I constantly feel I know very little. Sometimes I feel like I will never have enough time to learn things that I want to learn. I am self assured about some things, but I second guess myself a lot more than you would think. Hehe.
Okay this is the second time I have gotten such a message. What hate though? There has been nothing like that in my asks. Just the usual.
What kind of book recs are you looking for? I am more of a fiction person and the recent book I read was a suspense thriller. Before that I was reading Camus. One of my favourite authors is Alexander McCall Smith. Reading his books is like lying down under the shade of a mahogany tree, while a bubbling brook flows alongside, as the rays of sun warm my cheeks, a gentle breeze blows and I just get lost in my thoughts. It's peaceful. I like his Sunday Philosophy Club series the best. I also like the Scotland Street series. The no 1 ladies detective agency series is also a good one. I like his humor, his humanity, his little observations about life, his generosity for his characters. Heh.
I like classics a lot. Chekhov is one of my favourites. I like Russian classics, although yeah, they can get quite depressing. But like, there's no match for the content. I also like Austen and Bronte sisters. Yeah, I know it's cliche, but I love Jane Eyre, despite all its problems. The chapter where Helen died haunts me still...
I happen to love O Henry and Maupassant. Reading their stories is just so inspiring and entertaining. I also love Manto and Dahl.
I also read a lot in my native language, it really has some of the best literature in the world. I also write poetry when the mood strikes. But I doubt that counts here.

Round 3: Poll 2
*Please Read*
I advise everyone to read each contestant's story to get a well-rounded understanding of each entry. I urge you to not just vote for the one "you know best". I have everyone's stories/reasons why they should win under the cut.
(Rhoeo art by @amiti-art)
Propaganda:
Manto
What's The Love Story?
She's Tiresias's daughter!
She was brought to Delphi as a slave initially, but Apollo made her a priestess of Delphi! They had a son named Mopsus, and when Apollo instructed her to establish a new oracle, told her to marry the first man she saw after leaving Delphi.
She did just that and her husband guided her to Claros where she founded the oracle of Apollo Clarios.
Additionally, she was present when Niobe insulted Leto & her kids, and advised her to ask for forgiveness.
Finally, a guy tried to assault Manto on her couch and Apollo appeared and straight-up murdered him for the transgression. Protective King >>>>
Why Should They Win?
Apollo wingmaning his girlfriends >>>> Iconic
Kids?
One - Mopsus. He was a seer & diviner, and officiated Apollo's temple at Claros.
Rhoeo
What's The Love Story?
Her dad was THE worst and when he found out she was pregnant he didn't believe her that the father of the baby was a god so he put her in a wooden chest and threw into the sea. Jokes on him because Apollo was baby's father so Rhoeo made it safely to Delos. She gave birth to Anius and placed him on the alter in Apollo's temple and asked him to save the baby if he was truly his (idk why he needed saving tbh, the myth does not specify this. I headcanon that he was born too early)
Apollo then took Anius and not only saved him but also started to raise and mentor him.
Rhoeo later married Zarex who adopted Anius so our boy had 3 parents, good for him. And there are no myths about her dying a horrible death so she probably had a long and happy life (unlike some other lovers of Apollo 🙃)
Also around the same time Rhoeo got thrown into the sea in that wooden chest, while her sisters were watching over their dad's wine, it got destroyed by the swines. The sisters were so terrified of their father they decided to jump of the cliff but Apollo saved them and turned them into goddesses.
Why Should They Win?
I think Apollo truly loved her not only as a lover but as a friend too. It was not a one night stand like often happens in the myths. He loved her enough to save not only her and their son but also her sisters (like come on he turned them into goddesses). He let her live on his sacred island. And he loved her enough to let her go. While gods are often very possessive of their lovers (Apollo included, rip Koronis), he had no problem with Rhoeo moving on and getting married. I like to think that they stayed good friends and Apollo was very happy that she found such a great guy like Zarex to marry.
Kids?
Anius

"The video celebrates the beauty of the brown body, and is a montage of hair, skin, femme energy and hallucinogenic floral bursts of fecundity. In our socio cultural moment, where white supremacy is grasping even more power and racists are having too much damn time on the screen, this video stands as a visual poem of resistance. It is a love letter to all the brown bodies living on this planet, a reminder of their beauty and their power."

--ABOUT THIS ITEM-- Item Dimensions: 6.0 inches x 4.5 inches Boccaccio's On Famous Women (De claris mulieribus) is a remarkable work that contains the lives of one hundred and six women in myth and history, ranging from Eve to Boccaccio's contemporary, Queen Giovanna I of Naples. It is the first collection of women's biographies ever written. Boccaccio composed it at Certaldo in 1361-62 and revised it in various stages to the end of his life in 1375. He dedicated it to Andrea Acciaiuoli, countess of Altavilla in the kingdom of Naples and sister of Niccolò Acciaiuoli, the grand seneschal of Queen Giovanna I. In his preface, the author states that the biographies of illustrious men had been written often by a number of excellent writers, and he cited his hero Petrarch's Lives of Famous Men (De viris illustribus) as an example. No one, however, had ever done the same for women. Boccaccio, therefore, presents a wide variety of women from antiquity to his own time, offering their lives as both moral exemplar and entertaining reading. On Famous Women is the earliest source of women's biography in the West and has had a long and distinguished publication career and literary influence. The famous women included are: 1. Eve, the first woman in the Bible 2. Semiramis, queen of the Assyrians 3. Opis, wife of Saturn 4. Juno, goddess of the Kingdoms 5. Ceres, goddess of the harvest and queen of Sicily 6. Minerva 7. Ode à Panatenéia / Ode to Panathenaea
PORTUGUESE
I - Nascida
ENGLISH
I - Born
For you, O Palas Athena, I weave these words in simple homage Thou, Wise Lady, born from the towering forehead of immortal Zeus Already wearing armor of bronze and gold, the aegis your heirloom Even Helios Hyperionides ceased his path to assist your arrival And the deep unknownwable seas were shaken by your sight The mortal-loving Goddess was born, giving us blessings from Olympus
II - The Goddess of Wisdom
And in unequal honour the Goddess swore before the immortal brothers and sisters To never lay in love, the joyful arts of Aphrodite, for her eyes Glaucous and full of radiance as they are, gaze with love only to Her arts, The bellicose knowledge, cunning and wisdom as the provinces of Her own Athena swore to protect them and her mantle over mortals to rise, over those who Share the same love for knowledge divine, Her utmost holy virtues.
III - On the Gigantomachy
The strong and wise Goddess fought him in Thracian lands, the Flame-Breather, The atrocious Enceladus, son of Earth and the Abyss, a terrible and mighty giant Fierce spear and shield blows were exchanged, with cunning Athena swinging back The onslaught of the unholy beast. The aegis covering her against the attack and the spear The tip of which tore off the ichor, forcing him to retreat from the armed Holy Goddess The Gray-Eyed One shut him under a mountain and, victorious, loud Athena cried.
IV - Athena
In peace times, the good Goddess inspires mortals in the beautiful exercise of love for Wise things that build life. We create, weave, think and reflect by the blessings of Wise Athena, who weaves minds with skilful divine hands, The mortals on earth thrive in creation and the noblest reflection Mother of the Olive Tree, with her spear covered in oil and sharp owl eyes Even the gorgon pales before your presence and your eternal wisdom.
That's why, today and always, we say: Khaire Athena!
Celebrating the Panathenaea, I hope this honours the Goddess, as we celebrate her birth and blessings on humankind. May we all honour Athena, the great daughter of Zeus. A protector, a saviour, an inspiring teacher and a healer. Praise the Goddess and good festival on this weekend!
