My brother brought my mum and me along with one of my nephews to Andy’s Grill Express near where he was staying. The stall’s front is pretty narrow that it had to display the menu on the side wall. We went for their Super Combo Deal as it offered the best value. Ordered freshly squeezed Orange and Watermelon Juices to quench the thirst.

My nephew and I had Ribeye Steaks (2 for S$22) which is served on top of a bed of fries and crispy salad and drizzled in brown gravy. While it isn’t the best ribeye I had, it was juicy and tender plus the portion was big.

Mum and my brother went for the Fish & Chips (2 for S$14.90). It came with the same sides of fries and salad plus a squeeze of tartar sauce on the side. Mum gave me a piece of the fish which was well seasoned and crispy.

#messages from the ouija board #its been a good day #i also had a school group that was all band kids many of whom had pride buttons #and seeing openly trans teens holding hands and looking completely relaxed and comfortable on my tour almost made me cry like #maybe we're gonna be okay.#i was also wearing the violets ash put in my wardrobe and one of the teens was like 'do those flowers like... mean anything'#and i was like oh i uh put these on for pride today if im being honest #bc like. lbr if theres ever a time to break character a little its when a gay kid has called me out on my subtle floral symbolism #and the kids who were talking to me were like 'nice!!!'#(not during the tour though. this conversation happened as they were leaving the gift shop afterward)#and then ash and isaac and i and a few other people went and got grilled cheese :)

Julian Resso used to have a guitar.

He was playing it when his father broke it, a song he'd just started learning, but had the rhythm down. Storming in and snapping the neck of it, saying nothing to his objections, but telling him he would never amount to anything nevertheless. Didn't you want to be a scientist? Then what's with the damn guitar. You're not cut out for either.

He never fixed it, couldn't bear it.

Hasn't played since.

Years have passed since then. He's proved the old man wrong, in every line, every chemical formula. And.. in other ways, too.

He has a new guitar, shiny and fresh. The most thoughtful thing anyone's done; there have been a lot of those. New chance, new start. Never thought he'd pick up another one, but here he is, through no choice of his own. Nosy bastard. But the lines of the frets remind him- guitars can only differ so much- and he has old, unfinished business.

And, when he has a quiet moment to himself, after the confusion and the thank you, after wondering how in the hell the other had put the pieces together and found out, he picks her up and begins to play.

It's been years, but he's pretty sure this is the note he left off on; he wouldn't forget.

One finished song, before the start of many others.

Back to Saizeriya (サイゼリヤ) for our budget Italian dinner. That perfect poached egg in the menu is what attracted me to order the Bismark Pizza (S$7.90). Beside the gooey egg yolk, it had plenty of spinach, bacon and stringy mixed cheese over a crispy dough base.

Mum had only one selection from the menu, the same tried and tested (by her) Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti (S$5.90). Come with noodles and grilled chicken cubes tossed in black pepper sauce.
