The Cabin - Tom Hiddleston x Curvy Reader (Part 2/3)
Part 1
You woke up as the movie credits were scrolling. The kiddos were all still asleep strewn about the den. Looking at the clock, you realized it was about lunch time.
Walking into the kitchen, you saw Lisa sorting out the food that needed to go to the grill while one of Chris’ sisters was working on making some side dishes. “Anything I can help with?” You walked to the coffee maker to make a second cup of coffee.
“I think we’ve got everything sorted” Lisa answered. “Can you bring these out to the guys?” She was holding a large tin pan full of hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers.
“Of course.” You answered, holding your coffee in a way that let you grab the pan. “Do you mind opening the door?”
Chris’ sister hurried to the door, sliding it open.
“Thank you” you said, heading down the wooden deck to where the guys were sat by the grill.
“Look who’s awake” Chris teased, jogging to you to take the pan.
“I have to say, I needed that nap.” You laughed, following Chris to the grill.
“Are the kids still passed out?” Scott asked, watching you take a seat next to Tom. Chris started grilling the food.
“Yup” you answered. “I restarted the movie so they’d have the background noise.”
“Aren’t you cold?” Tom asked, seeing you were still in your fuzzy socks and sweater.
You shrugged, sipping your coffee. “I’m good for now. Anyone know what the plans are for the rest of the day?”
“Food. Probably hit the store in a bit. I think jetlag is gonna hit everyone harder than they think” Chris laughed.
“We should go get stuff for drinks after lunch” Scott suggested.
“I’m in. We should get a list from your mom of anything else she thinks we’ll need right away” you replied.
“Do you mind if I tag along?” Tom asked, looking between you and Scott.
“Of course, not” you answered, shivering a bit as the cold soaked through your sweater.
“Scott, can you go grab a pan for the cooked meat” Chris asked.
“Sure thing” Scott answered, getting up.
“Can you grab the blanket by the door?” you called out as he walked towards the cabin.
“God, do I have to do everything around here” Scott teased in a dramatic voice, making the rest of you laugh.
“Would you like my jacket?” Tom asked as you took another sip of your coffee.
You turned to look at him and shook your head no, a soft smile on your face.
When your gaze lingered a bit longer than one would call socially acceptable, Tom’s cheeks turned pink. “Do I have something on my face?”
You laughed. “No, you’re just…hear me out…like, if I were to write a perfect gentleman into whatever story I’m writing…I think that’s you…you check all of the boxes.”
Tom smiled and cleared his throat. “If I may ask, is that a compliment or are you trying to gently inform me that I’m incredibly boring.”
Chris let out a loud laugh, which prompted both of you to laugh. “I meant it as the highest compliment” you assured him.
“Well, in that case, I’m extremely flattered.” Tom replied, lifting his arm and prompting you to fill the small gap between the two of you. When you’d scooted against his side, he wrapped his arm around your shoulders.
When Scott returned, he tossed the blanket over both of your laps, going to stand by the grill with Chris. By the way they would take turns glancing back at you and Tom, you assumed they were talking about you.
“Chris mentioned that you do some sort of writing or consulting outside of your books.” Tom said, simply wanting to get to know you better.
You laughed, knowing that it drove Chris crazy not knowing what else you did for work. “Well, that’s accurate.”
“Is it safe to assume you won’t tell me what it is?” Tom smirked.
“I mean, never say never” you replied, looking up at Tom.
“Well, if I can’t know what else you do for work, what do you do for fun?” He continued, the two of you chatting until it was time to go inside to eat.
It felt good to have the cabin full of people. Chris’ family and a few of their family friends, including you and Tom, spent the next hour eating, laughing, and telling embarrassing stories about each other as you do when you’ve got the whole family together.
You were banished from the kitchen when you’d tried to help with the dishes. “You and the boys go do your shopping, we’ll clean up” Lisa said, handing you a short list and shooing you away.
“Now I know where Chris gets his stubbornness” you teased, hearing Lisa laugh as you left the kitchen.
You climbed the stairs, stopping at Chris and Tom’s rooms, both of them sitting in Chris’ room with Scott. “You guys ready to go?”
“Just waiting for you” Scott replied.
“Let me grab my jacket and my shoes and I’ll meet you guys’ downstairs.” When you made it outside, Chris already had your SUV started, letting the heating warm up.
“Mind if I drive?” he hollered out the window.
You shook your head no, walking around to the side of the truck and climbing into the back seat next to Tom. Scott was sat up front in the passenger seat. “I’ve got the list from your mom.”
“Then we are ready to rock n roll” Chris said, looking in the various mirrors to make sure it was safe to back-up.
Chris drove around the town for a while. He drove down a few scenic roads showing Tom the beautiful landmarks. When he saw a perfect, untouched patch of snow he insisted the four of you make snow angels. Of course, he made sure to get a picture of everyone laying in their angel.
Next stop was the liquor store. You pushed the cart around with Tom as Scott and Chris added various bottles and pre-made beverages to the cart.
“Y/n!” you heard Scott call from a few aisles over.
“Yes?” you laughed, looking to see if he was going to pop around the corner.
“Do you have a beer pong table?” It was Chris’ voice you heard this time.
You and Tom laughed at the brothers. “No” you answered.
“If I had to bet, I’d say that you’re about to be the proud owner of a brand-new beer pong table.” Tom laughed, walking with you towards the front of the store.
When you rounded the corner, you saw the brothers walking towards you. Scott had a fold-up beer pong table in his hands and Chris had two cases of White Claw and a bag of red solo cups in his.
“White Claw?” you laughed.
“Less calories than beer means that I have to spend less time at the gym while I’m here.” Chris replied, putting everything in the cart. “Speaking of, Tom do you want to work out with me in the mornings?”
“Absolutely” Tom replied. “I was a bit nervous to go running with all of the ice and snow.”
“I’d be more worried about the bears” you said, watching his eyes go wide.
“Now I’m extra glad that I didn’t try to run this morning” Tom said, following you as you pushed your cart to the front of store checkout. Chris pulled his card out before you could even offer to pay.
Next stop was the grocery store.
As Chris and Scott gathered the things on their mother’s shopping list, you took Tom to the baking aisle. “You mentioned that your family bakes when everyone gets together.”
“I did.” Tom smiled as he continued. “My mother and my sisters are usually baking some sort of sweet.”
“Well…” You gestured to the various options laid out in front of you. “What do you want to bake?”
“Really?” Tom asked, looking over at you.
“We can make pretty much anything” you answered. “I mean, unless you don’t want to.”
“No, no. I do.” Tom replied, swallowing back a bit of emotion. “I just…I know we really only just met so you have no way of knowing any of the craziness that has been going on in my life.”
You could sense a bit of hesitation in Tom so you reached out and grabbed one of his hands in yours.
Tom smiled, his eyes watering a touch. “And I’m not complaining, I promise you. I’m grateful that I’ve been afforded so many opportunities. I just…I only got to see my family for 4 days all last year. Home is the one place I feel like I can completely be myself and relax and…Well, when I found out I wasn’t going to see my family on the one break I have for the next three months, I didn’t expect…”
When he stopped talking, you slid your arms around his middle, pulling him into a hug.
“I apologize.” He said, wrapping his arms around you. “I’m sure a simple ‘thank you’ would have been a much more eloquent response.”
You could feel a light laugh rumble in his chest. “Don’t apologize.” You loosened your arms a bit to pull back from the hug.
Tom’s arms held you against himself for a moment before letting you go. “What is your favorite thing to bake?” he asked you.
You thought for a moment before answering. “Cookies.”
“Then I’d love to bake cookies with you” he replied, turning towards the various bags of chocolate chips.
“FYI” you said, grabbing a small bag of sugar and flour.
“Yes?” he put two different types of chocolate chips in the basket.
“I think anything you say in that accent sounds eloquent.” You pushed the cart further down the aisle to grab the oil. You could hear Tom laugh behind you.
“I’ll have to remember that.”
When the four of you got back to the car, Chris recommended picking up pizza for dinner since you guys had been gone a few hours.
“Just text your mom to make sure she isn’t already working on something.” You replied
When Chris got the green light on his pizza plans from Lisa, he placed the order over the phone and you guys picked it up on the way back to the cabin.
As everybody dug into the pizza, you took your baking supplies to the kitchen to tuck them away. You wanted to make sure that no one else used them before you could bake the cookies with Tom. Deciding to catch up on your work emails, you grabbed a slice of pizza and headed upstairs to your room. Sat at your desk with your headphones blasting your favorite music, you started replying to potential project proposals and questions your publishers had about your next works.
Because of your headphones, you didn’t hear Tom walk into your room about a half hour later. As he walked up to your desk, he was calling out your name not realizing you couldn’t hear him.
Standing behind your chair, he glanced at one of your computer screens, understanding what you’d been doing since you’d disappeared. What he didn’t expect, though, was what project you were currently emailing about.
See, most of the people that knew you as an author knew you wrote books in the same category as Hunger Games or Beautiful Creatures…Well, having the ability to hide completely behind an anonymous pen name let you venture into some projects that you deemed a bit more…fun? Maybe spicy is the right word.
Feeling bad for accidentally snooping, Tom put his hand on your shoulder to get your attention, scaring the absolute shit out of you. You threw your headphones off and turned in your chair, your heart going a million miles an hour.
Tom was stood there trying not to laugh. “I’m so sorry.”
“OH, dear god” you laughed, laying your hand over your heart and leaning back in your chair. “You about gave me a heart attack.”
“I was meant to come and tell you the brothers want to play beer pong, but I think they can wait a bit longer.” Tom said with a grin on his face.
You tilted your head to the side, confused as to what Tom meant. “That sounds both ominous and sexy” you laughed.
Tom chuckled and turned your chair back to face your computer. “Mind telling me what project you’ve got coming up?”
“Now it makes more sense” you continued laughing. On your screen was the proposed cover of your new book in an email you were replying to. You leaned your chair back so you were looking at Tom upside down. “You sure you can handle it?”
“I’m a bit offended that you think I can’t” Tom answered.
“You asked for it” you replied, standing up and walking over to your door. Sliding the lock in place, you walked to your closet, turning to Tom. “You coming?”
Tom opened his mouth to speak and paused, choosing to simply nod and follow.
Walking to the back of your closet, you pushed your clothes to the side and opened another door. This was your writing room. Specifically, for your ‘adult’ books.
You’d covered the walls in inspiration, essentially. In addition to your mainstream ‘young adult’ or ‘new adult’ novels, you wrote adult books…erotica…but your books were very inclusive. They featured various orientations, gendered pairings, gender identities, ethnicities, body shapes, body sizes, and various forms of being differently abled. Your walls were covered in artwork that featured real bodies in all of their various forms.
“So, this is your secret career?” Tom asked, looking at all of the various things hung on the walls.
“One of them” you answered, opening a cabinet full of dozens of books.
As Tom sorted through them, he understood your niche. “I think this is brilliant” he said, staring at you with an eye crinkling smile.
“Thanks” you replied, feeling your cheeks warm. “I don’t know how I thought you were going to react, but that definitely wasn’t it.”
“I mean it” he replied, continuing to look at the various books. “I love storytelling. Obviously, it’s a huge reason why I pursued acting. I love literature and music and many other various forms of art but acting has been my passion for so long. It’s only now that I’m realizing how narrow of a range that I’m personally capable of expressing.”
“Hey, that’s not true” you replied.
“That came out wrong” Tom turned to you. “What I meant to say was that as an actor I will never be able to personally tell many of these stories. Sex aside, obviously.” Tom lightly laughed.
“The only reason I was able to tell a lot of them was because I talked to and got to know people that had little to no representation IN these kinds of stories.” You pulled out a box of letters and printed emails. “When I started writing these books, I wrote for women that looked like me. Bigger women are rarely cast as the romantic lead, in literature or on screen. When we are, we have to go through some stupid ‘worthless to worthy’ journey where a ‘special kind of man’ swoops in to complete us and convince us we deserve love. We’re never just allowed to happily exist AND have a happy ever after.”
When you turned to look at Tom, he caught you off guard by roughly pressing his lips against yours as his hands held either side of your face. When he pulled back, his hands lingered a moment longer. “I do apologize. I couldn’t help myself.” He cleared his throat and turned back to the box you had pulled out. “Please, go on.”
You stared at him a moment longer, trying to gather your thoughts before turning back to the letters. “What I was saying before you so delightfully interrupted me…” You glanced at him, seeing him lick his bottom lip as he smiled. “Under my pen name, I run a page online. People send me their personal stories, fantasies, questions, worries…These people come in more than just various shapes and sizes. Some of them are in wheelchairs or are not as able bodied as you and me. I have a woman with Tourette’s who shares stories about her sex life and romantic life with her wife while living with her various tics. I just saw that someone started a new forum for people who have had mastectomies. When I go to write a story that represents something I can’t personally speak to, I talk to those that can. I get permission to even attempt to represent them. Sex is the easiest part of these to write. I feel responsible to do right by them and to translate the truth of their experience into a bit of romantic escapism. If they want to, everyone should be able to find characters they can relate to.”
“I think that what you’ve done is really, quite incredible.” Tom complimented you.
“Thank you” you replied, chuckling. “It’s weird getting compliments for essentially writing porn.”
Tom laughed, turning one of the books over in his hand. “Am I allowed to read any of them?”
“Go for it” you replied. “You just cannot tell Chris about any of this. At all. Pinky promise?” You extended your pinky towards Tom.
With a very serious face, Tom hooked his pinky in yours and answered. “I wouldn’t dare.”
“We should probably go downstairs. Chris and Scott are probably wondering why the hell we’re taking so long” you laughed, walking out of your writing room.
Tom turned to grab a book before following you out, closing the door on his way. “I’m going to tuck this in my bag in my room.”
“I’ll meet you down there.” When you got to the bottom of the stairs, you saw Scott and Chris practicing their aim with no beer in the cups. “Who against who?”
“Us against you two, obviously” Chris answered, Scott switching to stand on the same side of the table as Chris.
“Oh, it’s like that?” you laughed, opening two of the cans and filling your cups.
“You guys don’t stand a chance” Scott added. “Has Tom ever even played beer pong?”
“I have, actually” he answered, coming down the stairs.
“Then let’s see what you got!” Chris teased, acting like a total frat boy.
The four of you played quite a few rounds before your lack of sleep and buzz from the alcohol finally got the better of you.
“I’m calling it quits” you said, covering your mouth as you yawned.
“I should probably go to bed too since I’m setting an alarm for 6 am to go work out” Chris pouted, letting his head fall back.
“I’ll set mine as well” Tom added.
“You guys are so boring” Scott teased, starting to clean up the cups.
You grabbed the cups from yours and Tom’s side as well as all of the empty cans and started walking towards the kitchen to throw them away.
“I’ll grab those” Tom said, taking the cups from Scott and following you into the kitchen.
You dumped the cups and cans in the trash and turned to see Tom walking in with the rest of them. “Thanks.”
Tom dropped the cups into the trash and turned to you. “About earlier…”
“About that…” you smiled, half asleep and tipsy. You loosely wrapped your arms around Tom’s middle. “Want to explain yourself?”
Tom chuckled. “I think my actions were self-explanatory.” He placed one hand on your cheek, the other pushing your hair out of your face.
“I don’t know” you teased. “I think I need further explanation.”
“Explanation or demonstration?” Tom asked, his thumb brushing against your bottom lip.
You pretended to be considering the two options for only a few seconds before his lips were against yours again.
“Y/n!” Scott called. You could hear him and Chris talking just around the corner.
You felt like two teenagers being caught by parents. You and Tom broke apart, both scrambling to be pretending to do something else. He ended up pulling the trash bag out of the bin and tying it up even though it could clearly hold more trash and you ended up unloading the dishwasher.
“What happened to going to bed?” Chris asked, confused as to why you two were doing chores.
“I’m going” you replied. “I just didn’t want your mom to have to do this in the morning.”
“Well then you should have asked for help” Chris replied, helping you finish unloading the dishes. Scott started wiping down the counters and refilled the paper towels. Tom tried to hide the smirk on his face as he took the trash to the outside bin, but he wasn’t doing a very good job of it.
“Okay, that’s it. I’m going to bed for real this time” you said, putting the last glass away.
When you woke up the next morning you could hear someone in your shower. Part of you hoped that maybe Tom had come up to use yours since him and Chris would both want to shower after coming back from the gym.
“Good morning, sunshine.” Chris said, interrupting your short daydream about a very sweaty Tom walking into your room after working out.
“Oh, it’s just you” you teased him, turning over and snuggling back into your bed.
“Damn, someone woke up in a mood” Chris teased back, walking toward your bed with a towel wrapped around his bottom half. “You hoping it was someone else?”
“A girl can dream” you turned over to smirk at him.
“Are you two a thing?” He asked, dropping down to lay in your bed.
“I don’t know” you answered honestly.
“Do you like him?” Chris continued, laughing when you blushed.
“I mean, I haven’t exactly gotten to know everything about him, but I think he’s kind of great.” You replied.
“Well, for what it’s worth I approve” he said, rolling back out of your bed and heading downstairs to get dressed.

Tagged by @micewithknives thank you! I will be removing the Us from favorite because I am AMERICAN. No judgement on the rest of the world who uses British English spelling though.
1. What is your favorite food/beverage?
Pesto pasta or pancakes. I'm also very partial to hot chocolate and grapefruit sodas.
2. What is your favorite fandom [currently]?
I don't really consider myself a member of any fandoms at the moment. Is academia a fandom? It's very cringe though...
3. What shows are you watching [currently]?
Right now I'm watching Manifest with my mom, Shetland with my mom and my dad, and America's Got Talent and Survivor with the whole family.
4. What’s your strength?
Honestly, I think it's my ability to choose kindness over my naturally snippy nature. I've spent a lot of time working on developing this skill and it's one of the things that I'm most proud of.
5. What’s your weakness?
Physically? I am small and easily squished. My body is a walking hot mess. Mentally it's my inability to say no to an endless list of responsibilities.
6. Pet peeves?
People who are unable to understand that disabled will never function as well as an able-bodied person, even with all of the right medications and therapies and a team of great doctors. Don't expect that from us. If I tell you can't do something, it's not because I'm lazy or don't want to do it. It is because doing that thing is either physically impossible for me, or it would cause me great harm.
7. What’s your ideal type?
I think this was originally supposed to be "what type of person do you find attractive" but I like @micewithknives's interpretation, so into fonts we go!
I like Garamond because it's what most books end up being printed in. The kerning is a little different than Times New Roman, and that subtle difference makes it much easier to read. So I would like to thank Garamond for all of the stories it gave be when I was growing up.
8. The last food you ate?
Slice of homemade challah bread, toasted, with butter
9. Favorite animes?
I don't watch Anime, sorry. It's great if that's what you're into, but it's juts not my cup of tea.
10. Regular pastimes/Hobbies?
I knit a lot, and most of my projects are socks, which I got really good at making during the pandemic. I like to listen to audio books as I do other things like backing or walking my dog.
11. Favorite characters?
Starbuck from BSG
12. All-time favorite show?
Battlestar Galactica
13. What are you doing right now?
I'm trying to control my urg to buy more custom stationary for this great shop on Etsy.
14. How are you?
You know what? I'm not doing too bad. I'll take that as a win.
15. Favorite rest-time activities?
I listen to nonfiction books about the American Civil War. That sounds weird, I know. But I promise my intent it not to glorify the conflict.
Okay I'll tag anyone else who wants to do this but for the love of all that is holy: Repost do NOT reblog

CW: animal mention, vampire mention, food mention.
Virgil ignored the stares he was getting, used to them by now. As he had to live his life with red eyes, he’d had to get used to the stares quite quickly. He felt worse for his parents, who had to deal with questions of why they would let their child wear colored contacts and the effects they could have on him. His mom had to hold his ren back from tearing a person’s head off. Instead, she would just calmly inform them that red hair occurs naturally too.
In his teen years, it was seen as a rebellion to have red eyes. Some of his teachers even tried to say he wasn’t allowed in the classroom unless he ‘took the contacts out’. Those times, his mom didn’t hold his ren back from verbally tearing into the teacher about how it was against school policy and freedom of expression to tell him he couldn’t wear something that wasn’t bothering anyone else and this was how genuine aids got taken away from the people who needed them. Next the teacher would be saying that kids couldn’t have tassels on their backpacks as it would be disruptive. Once his ren had gotten their rant over, they informed Virgil’s teacher that his soulmate most likely had red hair. The teacher never mentioned it again.
Halfway through his teen years, Virgil just decided to roll with it. If people were going to stare at him, he was going to give them something to stare at. So, he dyed his hair a dark purple that almost passed as black, claiming it was payback to his soulmate. By the time he was fully settled in his style, he looked like the vampire he was so often confused for with how red his eyes were.
Thus, he didn’t pay attention when the customer kept staring at him as he tried to restock the ferret food section. He smiled, wiggling his fingers at the little guys before moving on. He began the routine feeding of the fish when he heard footsteps near him.
“You!” He turned to find a redhead with purple eyes hidden behind black wire frames pointing angrily at him.
Virgil thinned his lips and raised his eyebrows. “Me,” he said disinterestedly, moving to go back to feeding the fish.
“You’re the one who’s made me have purple eyes for the past ten years!”
Virgil nodded. “Sir, as you’re assuming you’re my soulmate, I will inform you that there is no way we can hold an actual conversation as I’m currently working. If you would like to have the conversation of who had to deal with the worse eyes for the longer time, I would suggest you come back at five as that’s when I get off.” He smiled, flashing his dark red eyes at him before moving to a different tank.
His soulmate stepped back, tugging slightly on the leash of a large canine. “Alright, I’ll be back then.”
True to his word, Virgil clocked out and exited the building to find the man from before standing there, no dog in sight. He stepped forward and reached out his hand for a handshake. “I’m sorry, I believe we got off on the wrong foot. See, I was having a hard day and took it out on you in a way that was completely unacceptable. For that I apologize. Would you allow me to buy you a hot beverage to make up for it?”
‘Oh, he’s adorable’ was the first thought in Virgil’s mind as he reached to shake the man’s hand. “That sounds perfect, thank you.” He was exhausted after his shift and could use the pick me up. They fell in step beside each other as they walked to the coffee shop down the way. “I’m Virgil.” He said as a way of starting a conversation.
“My name is Logan.” Silence descended until they’d gotten their drinks and slid into a booth. Logan cupped his drink in both hands. “Again, I’m sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I know it was my fault.”
Virgil shrugged. “To be fair, I snapped right back so I don’t think you can claim it was entirely your fault.”
“Still, I shouldn’t have come on so strong.”
“Eh, agree to disagree.” Virgil shifted in his seat, taking the time to drink from his cup. “So, how about you tell me about the struggles of living with purple eyes?”
Logan shook his head, a smile forming. “It’s not been the worst thing to happen to me. I mean, at the very least it’s an interesting conversation starter.”
Virgil laughed. “I wish I could say the same about the red eyes.”
Logan winced slightly. “Sorry, that must have been difficult for you.”
“Oh, you know, just a few people not understanding that red haired toddlers exist. Or red haired teens. So, the vampire aesthetic was a direct combatant to that.”
Logan looked up at him. “If it’s any consolation, I think the aesthetic suits you.”
“Thank you. I have to say, I like the red hair more than I thought I would.”
Their conversation went on, changing from hair and eyes to animals and jobs. Soon, they were knee deep in a discussion of which Greek constellation truly deserved it’s fate. Theirs was a match made in heaven and they got along like a house on fire. They stayed in that coffee shop until they were kicked out at closing and soon it was a normal thing for them to meet up every Friday after Virgil’s shift and walk to the coffee shop, talking as long as they were allowed.
Soon, it was progressing to every Tuesday and Friday, then practically every day. Virgil began to rely on Logan, being excited to see him at the end of his shift. It was no surprise to anyone when they started dating a few months after meeting and were married by the end of the year.

Exercise: 10,384 Steps // 4.28 Miles Walked // 1 Floor Climbed // 126 Active Min.
I swam (swum // swimmed) for the first time this summer today! My neighbors are kind enough to let my mom and I use there pool when they are at work, and today was basically the first day I actually felt up to going to the pool. I did a few laps of the pool in my fluttery little kicking style, and then just floated in place (that works my legs and core I guess, or so my mom told me but I don’t know). I also spent a good 20 minutes back at my own house laying on the beach chair in the sun and tanning myself ( and by that I mean getting sunburn).
Later, after dinner, I went out and did my usual 3 mile walk around the neighborhood. It was nice, I didn’t run into any rain, sprinklers, or giant dogs so I was happy with it. Downside of the work on my legs is I now have a cramp that is basically squashing my entire foot in on itself. Hazards of I suppose. That’s okay.
Remember yesterday’s post about having some of my garden harvest in dinner tonight? Well my mom (bless her shes the only one in the family that can really cook) made fried zucchini rounds and a salad with some of our produce in it! I use the Gluten Free Panko Breadcrumbs and they are the best thing ever if you want/need fried stuff thats breaded and GF. And the salad has our home-grown radishes, cucumbers, and tomatoes in it!.

Blind Date | Richard Camacho

Hola mis papas fritas! Felíz día de San Valentín/Happy Valentines Day! I hope you guys enjoy this little thing I whipped up for y’all!
~~
Maybe I should start off with a greeting like “Nice to meet you, I’m Richard”? No, that’s too formal. It’s a blind date, not a business meeting. Be natural, it’s not like you haven’t dated anyone before it’s just… been a while. I heard the little ring of a bell as I walked into the coffee shop and ordered myself a drink.
“Hi, can I get a black coffee please?” I asked the lady as she immediately started working on my drink. I looked down at the flower in my hand and softly smiled. Maybe this will go good. After a few moments, she handed me my drink and I took out my wallet and handed her the money.
“Thanks.” I grabbed the coffee and took a small sip. “Who’s the flower for?” She asked as she started counting the money in front of me. “Oh, the rose? Uh haha I’m here for a blind date. It’s so I can find her. She said they’re her favorite kind of flower. I wanted to make a good first impression, you know?”
“Oh, really? That’s so sweet.” She smiled and leaned a bit against the counter as I nodded. “Have you, by any chance, seen a woman with a box of chocolates? They’re.. my favorites..” She nodded and pointed off into the back corner. “A woman walked in with a small box of chocolates a few minutes ago.”
I strengthened my back and cleared my throat. “Thank you. Wish me luck. Let’s hope she’s the one, right?” She handed me the extra change and I shook my head. “Keep the change.” We smiled at each other as I made my way over to the mystery woman. I really hope this date goes well. I haven’t gone on one of them since.. wait.. no way..
I walked up to the table and there she was. This can’t actually be her, can it?
“Oh, wow..” I spoke as I stood next to her table. She looked up at me and smiled. “Oh my..” She stood up and granted me with a hug, placing my drink on her table. “What are you doing here? How long has it been?” I asked her. “What am I doing here? What are you doing here?” She laughed as she pulled away and looked at me.
“Oh, yeah I’m supposed to be on a blind date. Christopher set it up for me. He said I need to put myself out there again or something like that in his rallying speech before I left.”
“Really? What a coincidence. I’m actually uh on a blind date too. Daniella actually did this for me.” She spoke. “Today? Huh, how weird is that?” We stood silent for a moment before I looked down at the gift in her hands. “Ohh.. you have.. chocolates..” I stated as I looked at the box.
They were my favorite kind.
“It’s not – its not you, is it?” I asked, not sure how I should react. She looked at the flower in my hands and then back to her box of sweets before she slowly glanced up at me. “You’re my blind date?” She stayed silent and nodded. “Wait, did you know?”
“No, I didn’t. Did you?” She asked as I shook my head. “No.” I thought about it for a moment and came to the conclusion that Chris and Dani had set the both of us up. “Aahh they’re.. um meddling, again. Best friends, right?” She awkwardly laughed and swayed from side to side. Well, this is not how I thought this night would go.
“Right, well.. I – I’ll go..” She brought her hand down to my cup of coffee and handed it to me. “Oh, yeah my coffee.. right.” I took the cup from her hands and felt her skin against mine for a split moment. God, I…
“Do you maybe want to um.. sit with me?” She asked. “Only if you’re okay with that.” I responded as she nodded. “Yeah, I mean.. it’s just us, right? We know each other..” I looked between her and the table, not really sure if I should take this. What’s the harm, right? It’s just us catching up a bit.
“I’ll finish this and then I’ll go. I don’t want you to feel awkward.” We sat back down at the table as I picked up my drink, taking a small sip of the hot beverage. “I guess the rose is you then.” I handed her the flower as she took it from my fingers. “Oh, thank you.. uh the chocolates are yours.” She slid them across the table and I took them. So much for making a good first impression.
“It’s uh.. crazy.. we were almost married and I don’t even know what to talk to you about anymore..” I stated. “I know.” She softly smiled at me. “So… how have you been?”
“I’ve been good, actually. School’s been difficult, but I’m working through it and passing all of my classes.” She smiled. “I’m glad, I really really am. You deserve it.”
“How about you? How have you been?”
“Me? Oh yeah I’ve just been in and out of rehearsals and interviews and.. I don’t know. The house is.. too quiet to face some days. It’s not the same when you don’t have anyone to come home to.” It stayed quiet as I took another small sip of my drink. She looks so beautiful.. looking at the rose in her hands. I wish we were a couple again.
“I uh took your advice about the apartment though. I put it up for sale..” She looked back up at me. “Really?” I nodded.“Yeah, just need a change. Besides, my neighbors are getting worse.. well, their teen is. The parents went on a cruise the other night and their kid had a party. He played the same song over and over again and I rolled over to – to nudge you to go tell him to turn the music down because you always did the confronting and I think the teenager liked you more than he ever liked me, but.. you weren’t there.” I couldn’t help the sad smile that came onto my face. “I forget sometimes.” I chuckled.
“I know the feeling.” She said. I have to remember that she’s not mine anymore. “So, what bring you back here? The last time I saw you, I left you at the airport with your suitcase and you promised you wouldn’t come back until you completed your traveling bucket list.”
“Oh, well I’ve actually gone to almost every country on my list.” She spoke, smiling. “Oh wow.” She took out her phone and started showing me some of the places where she’s been.
“Did you go to our spot again in Paris? I like to imagine you stood on the Pondesar with some bolt cutters as you frantically search for our padlock. I know the city took the locks down a few years ago because of the stability of the bridge, but the idea made me laugh.” She chuckled and shook her head. “Of course you would think that.”
“Where else did you go? Did you make it to London and have tea with the Queen?” I joked as she let out a laugh. “No, I didn’t. She was.. unavailable.”
“Yeah she must’ve heard you were coming to the palace, closed the curtains and hurried out the back door to one of her other estates.” She reached over and playfully punched me. “Shut up.” She laughed. I’ve missed this.
“Do you remember what we did to your spoiled cousin when she showed up at your house? The one with the bratty kids?” She thought for a moment and then smiled. “Oh my God, yes! I remember.”
“You army crawled out of the living room so she wouldn’t see you move through the blinds. I swear, it was like Mission Impossible! And she called your mother to complain we deliberately gone out to avoid her.”
“I just didn’t feel like dealing with her shit that day.” She smiled as I continued to think about all of the times we’ve had. “We had some fun together, didn’t we?” She nodded. “We sure did.” Another memory popped into my head. One that I know she’ll definitely remember and get embarrassed about.
“I think the best one was the famous trip to Disney when I bent down to tie my shoelaces outside the Cinderella castle. You thought I was proposing..” Her face immediately turned red as she covered up her face. “Oh no, don’t bring that image back into my mind.” She laughed.
“All those strangers gathering around waiting for me to pull out the ring and you were just oblivious to it all watching the fireworks. I’m sure only dogs could hear that squeal when you noticed. You started shouting “Yes!” and I just looked up clueless.” I clapped my hands as I was laughing.
“It was perfect too! You can’t just do that, in fucking Disney World, and tease somebody like that.” She chuckled. “I don’t think you or your mom ever forgave me for that.” I smiled.
“Watching your face fall and you realized there wasn’t a proposal almost made me want to say it was, that I’d forgotten the ring. I mean, I didn’t forget it. The ring was in the bottom of my sock drawer back at home. I wanted to wait until New Year’s Eve, but I realized Disney would have been perfect. You were so happy in that moment..”
Now all that’s left of us is memories of our past together. Oh, how I wish I could go back in time and stop us from breaking up.
“Well, I’d ask if you were seeing somebody, but I guess I know the answer to that.” She nodded and looked around the café we were at. “If I’m honest, this is the first time I’ve attempted dating since we broke up.” She looked back at me after my little confession. I have to say this. If not now, then when?
“The truth is.. I miss you. I know I shouldn’t say it, but I’ve missed you a lot. Seeing the postcards that you sent our friends.. it made me realize I wanted to be there with you.” I paused for a second, afraid of what she’ll say. “I know you wanted to go out into the world and find out who you are, which makes sense. We’ve been together for so long and we needed to see other people and grow up, I get that but it doesn’t mean..”
Here we go. I took a deep breathe and sighed, looking back into her eyes. “It doesn’t mean I stopped being in love with you.” I said it and there’s no taking it back now. I just needed her to know, at least once. “I’m just.. glad I got to see you again. You look so much happier now. I know you didn’t come here for some declaration of love, you came for a fresh start. A blind date, the start of something brand new.”
She smiled and looked down at the rose in front of her, my coffee completely forgotten. “Well, it wasn’t so bad.” I wish I could call her mine again. I was being honest when I said all of those things. I just… miss her. So. Much.
“Do you want me to drive you home?” My heart ached at the thought of this blind date of ours ending. She shook her head. “No I don’t um mind getting another drink.”
“If you want to. You want to reminisce some more?” I smiled and thought of how to make this more interesting. “How about we.. how about we head off to the beach? We can go and see if the little ice cream shack is still there. I haven’t been in a while. It was always your special place.” She thought about it for a moment before responding.
“Is this still a date?”
“Well, I guess that’s your call to make. I – .. I’d love for this to be our second chance at a first date. How about.. we start over? Forget everything that happened before.” She bit her lip and raised her eyebrow. Her lips look so kissable…
“Mhmm..”
“I’m serious! I think this could be the best idea I’ve ever had.” I cleared my throat and held out my hand. “Hello, I’m Richard and I think I could spend the rest f my life looking into your eyes.” She burst out laughing at my comment. “Was that too much?” I smiled as she nodded. “I think you went a little overboard.”
“Okay! Okay! Hello, I’m Richard and can I just say you look beautiful today?” She covered her face, trying to cover up her giggles. “Oh my God, no.”
“Fine! I’ll stop..” I stood up and held my hand out for her to take. She placed her hands in mine as I helped her stand up. Stands of her hair covered her face as she smiled at me. Maybe this is our second chance at love.
“Come on... Ice cream is on me.”

50 questions you’ve never been asked
thanks to @ilygwilym for tagging me!
what is the colour of your hairbrush? Black!
name a food you never eat? broccoli
are you typically too warm or too cold? more likely to be cold
what were you doing 45 minutes ago? drafting social media posts for the boss
what is your favourite candy bar? Reese’s peanut butter cups (same, @ilygwilym!)
have you ever been to a professional sports event? yes! a lot. I saw Michael Jordan play with the Bulls in 1994, and since then have been to a handful of baseball games (Astros... breaking my heart, don’t @ me), basketball (various teams), women’s soccer (tickets are cheap and we should do everything we can to prove to U.S. Soccer they deserve more money), and of course, football games because I’m a huge Seattle Seahawks fan.
what is the last thing you said out loud? “no, I don’t have time to play,” to my husband, who is on his daily video chat with his coworkers who play games every lunch time. I am working on this survey in between things for work.
what is your favourite ice cream? cookie dough!
what was the last thing you had to drink? currently drinking coffee!
do you like your wallet? yes, because it’s part of my phone case and only holds three cards and Is super slim. i’d recommend it for everyone. mine has fish on it! and sometimes people ask if it’s because I like to fish or something. no. the answer is that I am a pisces.
what was the last thing you ate? salsa verde doritos because obviously i was making healthy choices last night
did you buy any new clothes last weekend? haha no, though I casually looked for sweatpants online
the last sporting event you watched? an Olympic qualifying match for the U.S. Women’s National Team. I saw Pinoe and Morgan and Krieger and all of them, it was AWESOME
what is your favourite flavour of popcorn? butter, I guess. I don’t really enjoy it because it really only takes one bite for me to get a kernel stuck in my teeth and I can’t stand the feeling
who is the last person you sent a text message to? my director at work. she is wonderful and I am not just saying that
ever go camping? definitely!
do you take vitamins? I have them...
do you go to church every sunday? nope, I slid into atheism 15 years ago but still go to church when I visit home because my mom plays the piano for the tiny church I grew up in and I like to sing
do you have a tan? not really. when i’ve had a healthy amount of sun, I get fairly distinct blonde streaks. I only get tan if I sunburn first, which obviously isn’t ideal
do you prefer Chinese food or pizza? P I Z Z A
do you drink your soda with a straw? no mas
what colour socks do you usually wear? I don’t wear a lot of socks in this climate, but my running socks are all gray + blue/purple/pink
do you ever drive above the speed limit? of course
what terrifies you? screwing up so badly that my boss gets politifact-ed (which happened once when we were talking about inequities on Latina Equal Pay Day and I have not recoverd from)
look to your left, what do you see? Airpods
what chore do you hate? cleaning the litter box/taking the trash out (we are equidistant between our complex’s two dumpsters, which is like a 10 minute walk)
what do you think of when you hear an australian accent? hmm. my first major exposure was Steve Irwin... so...?
what’s your favourite soda? diet coke, i’m just basiiiiic
do you go in a fast food place or just hit the drive-thru? when we’re not social distancing, I always go in. As someone who used to work at a drive-thru at an ice cream shop and at starbucks, I learned to love the pace of the people who walk up. way less likely to be a dick about being in a rush.
who’s the last person you talked to? the hubs
favourite cut of beef? I honestly don’t remember. Probably a new york strip. I eat beef on really rare occasions, and that’s usually in barbecue/brisket form because Texas
last song you listened to? I can’t believe I haven’t listened to music yet today! which means it was the Star Trek: The Next Generation theme song because that’s what I watched last night before bed
last book you read? hmm.. in full? probably A Song of Ice and Fire: A Dance With Dragons
favourite day of the week? Saturday, duh
can you say the alphabet backwards? tebahpla eht (sure, if I think about it)
how do you like you coffee? black
favourite pair of shoes? I don’t really love any of my shoes right now. but my greatest attachment is to my hiking boots.
the time you normally go to bed? midnight, on average
the time you normally get up? normally, it’s 7am but now that i’m working form home, 8:30am
what do you prefer, sunrise or sunsets? sunsets, I’m from New Mexico, after all!
how many blankets on your bed? a duvet and a sheet. don’t need much in houston usually
describe your kitchen plates. this has been a journey for us, but we have practically-indestructible Corelle plates with turquoise, teal, and blue dots and trim around the outside edge
do you have a favourite alcoholic beverage? red, red wiiiiiiiine
do you play cards? yes! the hubs is an obsessive game player. we do a lot of Hearts, Idiot, and Cribbage. I’m best at Cribbage.
what colour is your car? Dark gray
can you change a tire? the one time I was faced with the possibility, some stranger walked up and changed it for us on the side of a small town road in Idaho. also, when I had a crush on a boy in high school, he was obsessed with his jeep and I stopped by his house and he (i’m sure as a joke) asked me to bring over a new tire for him and it was huge and embarrassing
your favourite province? British Columbia!!!!!!!!!!!!11111 but I would probably also like Alberta too, I just haven’t been. wait, are we talking Canada? Australia? Somewhere else? If I had to pick a state, I’d go with New Mexico.
favourite job you’ve ever had? this one. I take photos and write social media posts and make graphics, and I basically made the job myself by showing my boss what I was good at. she was open to it. as a result, I have met famous politicians and been in military helicopters (and even communicated with Chris Evans’ A Starting Point production team). it’s an incredible opportunity.
how did you get your biggest scar? literally all of my scars have something to do with my cat. the biggest one is when I brought her home from college. she saw my dog—a dog she knew!!—as I was carrying her in from the car in my hands, and crawled up my face onto my head, catching my eyelid in her back claw. I had to have ten stitches put in the night before we left for disneyland!! thankfully it sort of blends in with the other natural eyelid creases I already had.
what did you do today that made someone else happy? aw probably not much, yet. it’s early still. but I did make a cute graphic for a Tiger King tweetstorm a bunch of legislators are going to take part in and my director really liked it (we probably won’t take part in the tweetstorm but I drafted just in case)

The Grind-Chapter 28
Tumblr media
The eve of fight night fell, and Colton was exhibiting extremely peculiar behavior. Not a bad type of peculiar necessarily, but the man just wasn’t his usual self. When I woke up to head for a swim at Temple, the bed was empty on his side and he hadn’t left a note, or word with my parents as to where he disappeared off to. In fact, according to mom, he must’ve left the house before 6 a.m. when she and dad left for their walk. It was a routine they had with the dog back home, and they had been continuing the morning exercise while on their visit to the city.
When I got to my locker at the gym, there was a single Peony taped to the handle, and a square yellow note tied to it’s stem. The easily identified chicken scratch belonged to the missing man in question, so I tore it open jaggedly to gather some answers.
   Livvy,
Enjoy your swim, & don’t you dare think of doing anything in the weight room. I told Cal to watch you. You have a noon appointment with that girl who does your hair, & a 10 a.m. massage too. I have some stuff to take care of today but be at home and dressed by 6 tonight. Wear that white dress I like.  The one from that party at the Pilot a couple months ago. And don’t eat. I’ll check in later. I LOVE YOU
C
Colton had been a lot of things the last year, but romantic was a new side. He rendered me speechless from heartbreak, pleasure, and laughter on a fair amount of occasions, but this was unfamiliar lands.  Never did I believe such a cynical, wild, tormented soul like his could conjure up the cleverness or the desire to throw together whatever plan he had in the works. But I’d obey the orders, and call mom to steam the crisp white, ankle-length, summer gown he referred to from the office gala event he suffered through as my plus-one, and it’s also the first instance he suckered me into bathroom sex in the family stall. The thin, flesh-hugging stretch of the drapery curved into me, and the low-cut of the back allowed him a subtle peep-show during the owners speech, which had him nearly feverish for a taste of me before the main course was served. I was chatting with Ryan who was seated at our dinner table, when Colton told me I looked a bit peaked and needed a few minutes of good ol’ fresh air. Thoroughly confused, I followed his lead as he took my hand guiding me through the bar area into the public pavilion of the venue. The details are a bit foggy, but I can’t forget the memory of his thirsty tongue licking a bead of summertime sweat from the valley between my breasts.
I concluded on returning to my natural blonde look at the salon, and sang the praises of the on-staff masseuse at SJS Salon on my way out the door. The unwind of my slow laps in the therapy pool, and the exceptional massage had me exuding peaceful relaxation. After the continual sessions’ day & night at the gym, in the cage, in the weight room, at the Pilot, some self-love and spa time was the perfect prescription for a Zen Liv. And I wanted all my tensions free and clear before I met up with Colton for this mysterious evening ahead, so I could fully enjoy the company of my perfectly imperfect companion. Wherever the pathway of our evening led, I knew I’d retire home once it was said and done feeling cherished, and probably horny.
I was puckering to smooth out a plentiful layer of rose-shaded smudge proof lipstick at my lighted vanity when I saw my mother peep around the unlatched door. I looked away from my own reflection to see hers smiling back at me from over my shoulder, as she brushed my hair back curious to discover my earring choice. This overly-feminine, lady-like and sophisticated side of her only child was a glimpse of the daughter she wanted 10 years ago when I was wearing sweats to school every day, and only wore heels for prom or homecoming dances. Mom stayed dressed to the nines every day of the week whether it be a run to the post-office or even a check of the mailbox, so seeing the vision of herself even more so in me now with sleek hair, and a posh taste in stilettos was probably the proudest she had been in a decade.
“Honey, you look excellent! Your little nose healed up just perfectly too, I see.”
Of course, mother. That’s what most important, ay’?
“Yep. It feels fine now. Thanks, mom.” I pursed my mouth, tucking both lips in a stark line and misted a lavish amount of Colton’s favorite perfume onto the exposure of my neck.
“Do you have any ideas what Colton has planned for you? You’re dressed awfully formal.” My mother asked turning her head to survey the final touches of accessory to my ensemble.
“He told me what to wear, and when to be ready to go, so that’s about the most I’m aware of. He’s been pretty shady today. And we both know he’s developed a keen talent for lying lately, seeing as how he managed to get you and daddy here.”
The last text I received from him at 2 o’clock that afternoon was a strange selfie of he and Andrew at the forefront of an impressive Styrofoam cup pyramid they’d apparently built on the display counter at The Grind. Those two had become quite the odd pairing lately, but I was happy Colton jived so well with at least one of my friends. I assumed he just went by the shop for his usual black coffee to-go, and Drew simply asked his assistance on a new merchandise display, which turned into the two of them goofing.
Mom checked her waterproof, step counting watch for the time as she followed be into the bedroom I shared with Colton. “It’s 5 minutes to 6 right now, Livvy. Have you talked to him?”
My heels clacked when transitioning from the carpet, to the tile down the hall. I clicked the unlock button of my cell to place a call to the very man sitting on an arm of the couch in an open stance, with those hefty forearms pushing in his knees. He stood upon hearing the soft tick of my heels step over the rug under the coffee table, and I was able to get a much desired, exploratory look at the very, very surprising dapper two-piece suit he sported. It was an oxford blue, atop a slightly wrinkled button-down shirt that he left casually, and very appealingly gaping open just enough to taunt me with his pecks. He was explicitly, lethal and delicious in the foreign dress of any sort of formal attire. Maybe more so even than those perfectly snug gray sweats I pulled off him on many an ‘afternoon delight’ occasion. That is, assuming I have to have him clothed at all.
“Well hello there, Mr. Ritter. Someone is looking exceptionally handsome tonight, I see. I must say you wear this look well, babe.” I admired, pulling on the lapels of his jacket to situate the wrinkle of his shirt. I tenderly grazed a manicured nail over the freshly shaved goosebumps of his neck, and smiled romantically looking up to him under extended lashes.
“You two enjoy yourselves! Tony and I are going to grab some dinner, and we’ll lock up when we get back. I’m sure it’ll be a late night for you guys,” mom spoke up, still standing behind me undetected. Colton tilted around me to smile appreciatively at her before she turned in pursuit of the spare room where dad was napping.
“Will you ever walk into a room ‘n not instantly have me wantin’ to rip off whatever you wearin’, baby? You look…you look fuckin’ perfect, Liv. I mean that.” He fiddled with the every-day, dainty, gold letter pendant I wore as he spoke, then touched his pointer finger to the heart-shaped opening at the center of my satiny lips.
I wondered reasonably if we’d ever even make it passed the 4 walls of our bedroom seeing the adamant, alluding examinations we were trading in the silence of our family room.
“As long as you promise to replace whatever it is you just have to rip off, then be my guest by all means.” I popped one shoe-covered foot into the air, and boosted up on the other desperate to touch myself to his mouth.
“Get. The hell. Out. That. Door. Now. With ya’ teasin’ little ass.” Colton palmed the front of my dress to clutch over the warmness of my womanly center.
We altered his plan a bit, and decided my car would be the most practical option for transportation considering the height of my designer heels. Once we exited the driveway, I couldn’t help but blast him with pestering questions, and chatting.
“Just sit tight, ‘ight. We ain’t far. You can hold out a few minutes, Livvy. A surprise here ‘n there ain’t gonna kill ya’.”
I unhappily sat tight as advised and waited a drawn out 10-minute car ride that steered us to a parking meter on the street near The Grinds’ entrance on the sidewalk. The white light of the ‘open’ sign that would’ve typically been plugged in the window was powered off, along with the appearance of any other lights, or evidence of business behind the door.
“Colt? What are w-“
“No more questions, okay? Hold on.”
I watched him shove my keys from the ignition inside the pocket lining of his coat, to jog around and assist me from the passenger seat onto the concrete walkway.  I smelled something fishy, but I couldn’t place a sure finger on it just yet. With one arm clinging around my average size waist and the other holding my hand, we waited for the street sign to change then scurried along the crosswalk. Colton confirmed the time on his watch just as he gestured me to enter the strange darkness of the generally busy coffee shop.
I couldn’t move much passed the entry mat laying in front of the doorway due to the pitch darkness of the room, so I waited intriguingly for my next instructions. Colton moved in behind me and stepped straight for the location of the light switch he was apparently familiar with. Rather than the hardwired overhead lights of the café igniting with the flipping on of electricity, twinkling, warm garden decorations on green strands taking their place. The dusky glow hanging over our heads bared a table for two waiting empty in the middle of the open floor, and some sort of urbane, bubbly beverage sweating inside a tin bucket of ice. Calm, lazy melodious music struck up, and I finally escaped my confusion to scan for Colton.
“These a’ for you, baby. The best, for the best.”
He offered me a familiar a pink, fluffy bouquet which had become his apparent staple over the last year, and I could smell the odorous fog from gift laying in my arms. Taking a closer look over his face, I noticed he’d groomed up exceptionally precise, and his beard had been combed and trimmed. Colton Ritter may have even been wearing hair product, Ladies and Gentlemen. His matured facial lines, and the barely detectable softening sag around his eyes added a story-telling detail to his aging mug, but I admired every frown line, and ghosting scar.
I rested my arms over his shoulders, dangling the hefty bouquet in my hand behind his back to settle in for a lengthy embrace when a begging, muffled reverberation of hunger grumbled from my empty stomach.
“Well, you did tell me not to eat, silly!” I patted over my angry insides to stifle its interruption.
“I got just the thing to fix ya’ right up. Here. Let’s get you in a seat and I’ll be back.” He took my hand, and I took the seat he offered up, placing the flowers in a waiting vase at the center of his table spread.
Colton lit four small tea-light candles with a zippo frim his pants pocket, and kissed the crown of my freshly washed hair.
“I like the blonde, by the way,” he winked dragging his feet backwards to disappear into the back kitchen.
A few clanging plates and some ruffling feet could be heard as I sat legs crossed, and chin rested on my elbows. Mother Liz always cut my arms with a slap when I would prop my elbows up onto the tables, chastising my etiquette or lack thereof. I repeatedly listed off a careful list of the ‘important dates’ to mark the many milestones of our relationship to assure I hadn’t forgotten some crucial event on this day. There had to be some reason Colton had gone to such odd, starry-eyed measures, and my nosey, sharp-witted journalistic side was beating me to death to get to the real story hidden under wraps.
STOP IT! Let the man have this. Don’t ruin it because you’re a meddlesome pest who can’t just enjoy a surprise.
Just then, a smell so aromatic and reeking of garlic wafted like a puffy cloud of deliciousness into my nose. I inhaled deeply through my nostrils to trace the yummy culprit, and found the man exiting a revolving door that hid the kitchen. He had two enormous, blotchy, grease-stained pizza boxes marked from my very favorite deep-dish joint stacked in one arm, and a covered Dutch oven dish cradled in the left arm. Colt’s tongue peeped like the head of a snake from the corner of his mouth, walking strategically careful so not to drop the hot contents of his clutches.
“So, since you trained so hard, and it nearly killed ya’ cuttin’ out all those carbs, I figured you’d maybe want some’n downright filthy ‘n covered in cheese to hit the spot. Drew tried to tell me I should get some fancy takeout from that place you two are always goin’ to, but I knew this would suit ya’.”
He opened one of the boxes to reveal a cheese deep-dish smothered in sliced, tender black olives.
“You want me to eat the whole thing?” I chuckled with a large goading laugh, and quarter-sized eyes.
“One fa’ you,” he answered sitting himself to open the other cardboard box in his place setting. “’and one fa’ me.” Colton rubbed his hands together anxiously, like a giddy boy about to dive into an ankle-deep mud puddle.
“But you may wanna save a lil’ room for this too, baby.”
I watched as he pulled the sturdy lid from top the black dish, and fluffy, warm steam rolled from the inside. Peeping over the edge in anticipation, I discovered a dark chocolate, gooey treat, topped with whole praline pecans and stringy caramel drizzles.
“Colt, you made that? All by yourself?!” I smiled adoringly when the look of utter pride beamed from his coy face.
It was a turtle dessert my mom taught me to make, and my absolute favorite. Colton had stayed been at my old apartment one night, back before the fight, and said he needed a ‘sugar fix’. The city was covered in powdery snow and muck, with temperatures reaching their lowest degree all winter. Neither of us could stand the thought of leaving the warm solace of my couch, so I whipped up that same dessert for him. We demolished the entire contents straight from the dish, sharing a spoon for vanilla bean ice cream on the side.
“Liz wrote the ingredients down for me, but I remembered pretty well how you made it that night. Don’t be gettin’ all wound up before ya’ even taste it now,” he tittered taking his first bite of pizza.
We ate majority of each cheesy pie, (him asking for a slice of mine) then hysterically cackled for a good half hour after he sampled (and gagged on) a swig of my favorite merlot from a local winery. When our favorite Bob Dylan tune struck up on his iPod, I asked him to dance, and he obliged hugging me tightly with one arm, and gnawing on the last piece of pizza he clutched to in the other. The raw, real-life imperfections of the moment that would’ve had most females curling a lip in disgust, and trouncing far, far away from a man with such qualities as Colton Ritter, only had me needing his presence in my life more so.
“How’d you pull this off Ritter? I must say, I didn’t know you had it in ya’, babe.” I muffled with a full mouth of his well-made chocolate cake as I dabbed the corners of my mouth.
“Just called in a favor to my pal Andrew, no biggie. The bastard only made me pay him 200 bucks to make up for his ‘lost profit.’” Colton used his most sardonic air quotes to underline Andrew’s no doubt tantrum for his role.
“You been workin’ so damn hard, Livvy. And I just wanted to do somethin’ to make you feel special. Help ya’ relax and take the edge off of a lil’ about tomorrow night. ‘N judging by those sexy, heavy little wine eyes you been givin’ me, I’d say I did a fine job.”
The excellence of the entire evening, hand-in-hand with now a present buzz of red wine after so many months, made the air around me feel as if it touched my skin like expensive cashmere. My insides felt as if they were humming with muggy decadence, and no unkind thought weighed on my mind.
“Oh God, stop it!” I covered my face, ashamed of his insinuating light-weight insult.
“You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on, Liv. I ain’t just sayin’ shit right now. I mean that. You’re perfect now, jus’ like this. And ya’ perfect on the couch with your face painted in one of those goopy masks you put on before you check your work email at night.” He leaned over the round table, mazing through the empty boxes, and melting candle wax staining the tablecloth to encase my fingers. Any fool could see there was nothing but earnest passion in his eyes, and a blatantly truthful, sureness in his voice.
“I love you. And don’t sell yourself so short! You are the perfect one. Even with all those demons, and whatever else is hiding in that head of yours.” I wanted to caress and pet his always warm cheek, but the distance between us caused me to settle for a tight squeeze of his hand, and a kiss to his scarred fingers.
“A perfect man wouldn’ta let somebody like you get away, baby.”
“Stop with that! We’re here now. Together. And we’re happy. Plus, there are more important things going on right now we should be worryin’ about.”
I knew I could back out of my fight right now, even the night before, and Colton would support my decision without hesitation, and anyone else who didn’t, would suffer at the hand of his consequence. The reality of what I knew I’d be doing only a few short hours from now, was a frightening one. But, one that I had agreed to for myself at the hands of no ones’ force. I wanted to make Colton proud of me for something more than just having my nose shoved in front of a computer screen 10+ hours a day. I had to prove to him, the world, my parents, and mainly myself that I was capable of greatness. That I had the potential to step out in faith, and achieve something like this with some courage like the old Liv.
“We’ve done everything in the gym we possibly coulda, baby. You’ve done everything. You need t’ believe in yourself like you were always tellin’ me. I’ll be there standin’ in that corner for you, I promise. And if ever you wanna cut it, just say the world ‘n we’ll walk outta there first round. You can do this, 2-1. Clear eyes, remember?”
“Thank you, Colton. For being the man that you are, and sticking with me through this even though we both know you hated the idea. And for all this God, it’s incredible, really. I’ve desperately needed some alone time with my guy.” I scooted to the front ledge of my chair, resting on the table to wink suggestively at the tantalizing specimen opposite my gazes.
“Calm ya’self, you dirty girl. I know wha’s goin’ on up in the head o’ yours. I got one more place I need to take you. Then, I can assure you…. I can really fuckin’ assure you, that I’m gonna get real good and close to every piece of your creamy skin under that dress.”

BIOGRAPHY
parents history
kylie’s dad is a notable soccer player in latin america, he has played throughout a couple world cups and has been on notable teams, even in europe (Manchester United? Barcelona FC? get back to me on this ahahah) He wore the number 7, believing it always brought luck to him and his family. kylie’s mom was just a normal girl who worked in a dress shop, sewing together sweet 15/16 dresses, which she really enjoyed and was good at. her mom’s family had a business and all the women in the family ran that little shop bc they made sure things ran smoothly. kylie’s parents met unexpectedly in a bar when her dad didn’t want to be noticed and her mom was out on the town with her friends. this turned into a fan marrying her idol sort of thing. it was super cute.
kylie’s dad got chosen to be a part of the US soccer team, this was after he was dating her mom for about a year. before he could leave he didn’t even realize that lupe (ky’s mom) was pregnant with her older sibling jaime. that led to a quick marriage BUT lupe didn’t want to leave mexico just yet SOOO while her dad went off to the states, her mom stayed in mexico working on her business and it worked out really well for the two.
two years later, after 2 years of a long distant relationship and the family dress business blowing up in Mexico, turning into a whole fashion empire, lupe finally decided to pack up and go to the U.S.A
along came kylie
kylie was the first born in the U.S.A, so she is american but she frequently travelled to Mexico during her childhood, therefore she understands both english and spanish. she is 100% proud of her ethnicity no matter how much hate she got for it growing up.
kylie was always closest to her dad, he taught her how to have thick skin and go for your dreams. every night they would play soccer on the streets and he pushed her to be better. Kylie was on several soccer teams growing up, and has a lot of photos, awards, and memories to prove it. all her siblings were in some kind of sport. kylie’s was soccer while her siblings would be volleyball or basketball. they were known on the block as the golden 3 for being involved in sports.
it didn’t mean she was a tomboy, oh no. while her dad taught her sports, her mom taught her how to be presentable. she would always say ‘let them judge you by what you wear so you can prove them wrong with who you are.’ those are words she lives by everyday when it comes to her appearance.
her parents really taught her the value of working for what you want, even when kylie did grow up comfortable. her mom’s business was growing so much it was known in chicago and some other parts in the U.S. her dad was known for being one of the best soccer players coming out of latin america (up there with ronaldinho), but they both got to where they were through blood sweat and tears.
on her down time she got really into makeup and fashion, she did it a lot for prom season, posting it up on insta that some celebs hit her up to do their makeup and of course she couldn’t say no to that. kylie makes her own makeup out of natural ingredients that she uses with her clients, it’s something she doesn’t sell exclusively, it’s her best kept secret.
she’s really popular within the latin american music scene and has done some collabs with english speaking people. those are just passion projects for her. it’s like, she’s known for different things, so she does them, but she’s not sure what she wants specifically.
since she’s tiny, people tend to make fun of her height A LOT, which she doesn’t mind, it pretty funny to her. it’s just something that’s been with her foreverrrrrr.
kylie still plays soccer in a league on her free time. it’s something that keeps her mentally grounded.
life isn’t so perfect * TRIGGER WARNINGS: anxiety, depression *
so being mexican in the U.S.A is never easy, and it definitely wasn’t for kylie that didn’t speak english until she entered school. she was constantly bullied and pushed around because of her ethnicity, because she was tan, unlike the other girls.
of course she made other friends of color and non-color that accepted her but when you grow up seeing that there are people that hate you for what you’re born into, it damages a person.
for a long time she didn’t accept her body image, trying to lighten her skin or make herself look more accepting, it caused her to spiral into depression, she had a lot of fights with her family about this.
kylie developed anxiety where she overthinks and gets panic attacks, but thats why she still plays soccer competitively.
kylie’s personality
kylie is literally F I E R C E. she’s got two types of personalities, one where she’s a home body and loves her family, will beat you in a quick game of soccer. she’s that bubbly girl with the laughter, sarcastic remarks followed by a smirk at the end of it
BUT
she is also that girl that when it’s time to work, she is scary. she knows what she wants, she know how she wants it and she will get flustered when it’s not like that. she’s got a whole ‘that BIIITCH’ personality, like when she’s on the red carpet, she just has it going for her kind of thing.
but she’s a goof, and that’s something everyone will notice. she loves to make people laugh and smile. if you’re an asshole, those are her favorite types where she’s just drawn to those people.
connections?
old school friends
old school enemies
makeup clientele
squad?
ride or die
drunk friends
sibling like friends
exes ( good + bad + messy + angsty )
crushes ?
former lovers to friends
um, anything? let’s brainstorm ! :)

Haunt
I despise this chapter, but I can’t stomach deleting it and starting all over so, apologies for it being sucky.
Masterlist – Plot: Tom takes Sam’s advice.
Haunt (Chapter Fifteen)
Sam’s words haunted Tom as he stared down at his keys. For the first time in a long while, Tom had allowed somebody to call him out on his bullshit and it was hard. It was hard because Sam was right. He thought about Trevor, he then thought about Zendaya in a white dress and a long veil … reluctantly, he then thought about himself – about his actions since she had re-entered his life. He’d been so preoccupied with the end result of keeping her safe that he hadn’t realised he’d been being a dick. Zendaya had a life now, one where she had friends and boyfriends and a job and Tom hadn’t taken any of that into consideration before thrusting her into a world that she wasn’t ready for.
It was why Tom made the difficult decision to leave Zendaya alone for the night. He was going to give her a little space before reaffirming that he had her best interests at heart in the morning. He placed his keys into his drawers and made sure to instruct Jon on her safety. After being certain that five of his most trusted men were stationed close by her and her apartment, Tom fell asleep with a heavy heart. One thought prevalently plaguing his mind – he had to be better, for her.
He dreamt of her and him, Trevor. It was like one of those stupid TV show episodes where the protagonist spent the whole episode daydreaming of an alternate life. It was the type of thing that nobody really liked and yet everybody was still compelled to watch, afraid that they’d miss something important. His dream – or nightmare – consisted of a happy life between Trevor and Zendaya. A life where she was his wife and they moved to the country to make babies and jam. It was all too picturesque; endless acres of land, a dog or two running around, Zendaya pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen.  It was the perfect image, just an image that Tom couldn’t stomach to see become a reality.
So, the next morning, after leisurely having breakfast with Paddy and his mom, Tom made his way over to Zendaya’s studio. As promised, Jon was inside, keeping a lookout and surprisingly making her smile as she moved around furniture and messed with the lighting.
Tom admired from outside for a few minutes. He noticed how at home she looked whilst working her business. There was an aura of happiness around her that he hadn’t had the privilege to witness since seeing her again. It was nice … humbling and he silently thanked Sam before making his entrance.
“I’ve got it from here, Jon.” Tom waltzed into the small yet spacious studio; his hands carrying a coffee tray. He heard Zendaya kiss her teeth together in annoyance and he smirked as Jon just gave him a light squeeze of the shoulder. The two men shared a silent exchange where Tom’s eyes thanked Jon for all of his excellent work before the older man proceeded out the room. “Mornin’”
“I don’t need a babysitter, Tom.” Zendaya huffed as she adjusted a large picture against the wall. Tom took this moment to look over her; safe and without an engagement ring on her finger.
“I’m not here to babysit you.” Tom outstretched his arm, offering Zendaya a stemming cup of coffee. She stared down at it hesitantly and Tom just pushed, his arm moving all that bit closer so that she couldn’t refuse his kind gesture. “I’m here to apologise.”
As Tom continued with his apology, Zendaya found her mouth hanging open in surprise. She had presumptuously assumed that Tom would spew some more jargon about keeping her safe and following his instructions. The last thing she expected from him was an apology and she wasn’t sure if she was confused or humbled or both – she was the latter.
“Why?” After a few moments of silence, Zendaya ran a hand through her loose curls. “Why now?”
“Because-“ Tom took a seat upon the small wooden bench that ran the length of the room. His back was to Zendaya now and as a consequence, she slowly took her time to take the seat beside him. The two of them stared at a wall full of hung canvases, their eyes looking everywhere but at each other. “I was foolish enough to think we would just re-enter each other’s lives and be normal again, be us again.”
“Did you honestly think that?” Zendaya scoffed lightly, not meaning it to sound as mean as it came across. But as soon as she saw Tom wince from the corner of her eye, she was quick to share her own apology. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that … I just … You left, Tom! And regardless of however you justify it, you did, and I am mad … I think a little part of me always will be-“
Zendaya, despite getting her time to think, still couldn’t get that aching feeling of a heartbreak out of her chest. Seeing Tom in the flesh just made the pain more real and even though he wanted to rectify things, she wasn’t sure if she was one hundred percent ready for that just yet. With her safety compromised, a new Tom and this bourgeoise type lifestyle that he now led, Zendaya wasn’t one hundred percent ready for anything other than just her life. Even if it was just for a few days, she wanted to wake up with profanities for alarm clock and just go to work. She wanted monotony and she was really hoping Tom could give her that.
“I want to change that. I want to make up for it.”
“And you thought hoisting me into your fancy apartment would help?” Just like Sam had done the night before, Zendaya hadn’t hesitated to call Tom out on his crap and it was seemingly the reality check he needed.
“No.” Tom quickly added but sheepishly shrunk into himself when he felt Zendaya’s glare penetrating his side profile. “Okay, fine, yes. Yes, I thought spending time with you would just make everything go back to normal. I just didn’t expect it to be so-“
“Hard?” For the first time since they had started talking, the two made solid eye contact, their mouths lifting with small smiles – finally, they were both on the same page.
“Look, the reality of the situation is that it is happening and I’m not saying the security will go down or you’ll stop seeing me-” Tom tried his best to recite the speech he had tried to perfect the night before. He had mentally prepared for it hours on end, trying his hardest not to sound too condescending or too soft. “But I want to try. I want to get to know you all over again, know what your life’s now become-“
“Does that mean I get to stay at home?” Zendaya asked, a tinge of hopefulness in her voice.
“It means you get to go about your daily life … just with me.” The latter part of Tom’s words made his smile brightly, both his heart and mind relishing in the probability of something more with Zendaya. Like Sam had said, it was time for Tom to sort his act out and this was the way to do it. It was time to start thinking about what Zendaya wanted.
“Tom, you run a business, you can’t babysit me all day-“ It was then that Zendaya suddenly realised that the man beside her owned a business worth millions (billions even) He probably had better things to do then just follow her around as she did boring paperwork and dealt with clients.
“I’m not babysitting you, scouts honour.” Tom raised his palms up in surrender, earning a light chuckle from Zendaya; a sound that was pure music to his ears. “Sam and Harry can handle the business. From now on, I’ll be your security detail, like Jon has been. So, you do you; go to work, go grocery shopping, go cliff jumping … whatever it is you wanna do, I do.”
“You’d follow me over a cliff?” Zendaya quipped her eyebrow upwards jokingly.
“Over a cliff.” However, Tom didn’t respond in her light tone. There was an edge of seriousness behind his words, him vocalising the fact that he would move hell or high water if it was what she needed from him.
“Okay.” After a few seconds of deliberation, Zendaya agreed with Tom’s compromise the two of them nodding simulatenously. This was the furthest they’d come – in terms of agreeing with one another - since reuniting and Zendaya was happy that Tom was beginning to see things from her perspective. With a mere smile in his direction, Zendaya took a sip of the coffee that had now grown lukewarm in her hands. “You remembered.”
“What?”
“Hazelnut milk, three sugars, decaf.” Zendaya ushered down to her coffee, the perfectly milky liquid warming her insides instantly. Ever since the stress of high school had started, Zendaya had only ever drank her hot beverages in one way; a way that Tom hadn’t failed to remember.
“How could I forget? It’s disgusting.” Tom made a sour face at the incredibly sweet drink before stopping to admire Zendaya as she stuck her tongue out at him. It was funny how quickly things seemed to shift between them. One moment they were fighting, the next they were kissing and now, they were comfortable. They were in a place that was heading to their old sense of normality. Zendaya wasn’t adamant on fighting him or arguing back, they were having a normal conversation and they were actually enjoying it. It was progress, simple progress and Tom didn’t understand why he hadn’t reached out to Zendaya like this in the first place. “But it’s nice to know some things never change … tell me-“
“Tell you what?”
“Tell me about you.” By the look of pure confusion on Zendaya’s face, Tom knew he had to explain himself some more. “I want to get to know this Zendaya Maree Coleman. Tell me everything.”

Dedicated to my sweet family
SET THE SCENE
I’ve been on my fair share of cruises – Hawaii, Caribbean, and another Alaskan cruise by Holland Cruise lines – and thus, I think I can safely say that I have had enough comparison to write a pretty good review on a cruise ship. The Bliss is the newest and biggest ship to sail the Alaskan waters and I will say it definitely lives up to its ship name. But before I go into the ship, let me give you a snapshot of beautiful Alaska.
Cerulean blue waters with hints of green flow around the gorgeous state of Alaska. The skies alternate between clear blue and a light gray and there is a chill in the air that is a profound welcomed relief from the humid heat of Texas (where I’m from). The air is devoid of heavy pollution and car traffic fumes and every city has its quiet charm. Salmon in every shape and color climb the salmon ladders while bald eagles dominate the skies.
The cold air is contrasted by a hot cup of chowder in chilled hands. One of the little things in life is having your insides immediately warmed by sip of a hot latte. Or being in the middle of a forest surrounded by trees connected together by fairy lights while roasting marshmallows over a large fire.
The most brilliant sharp icy blue glaciers and its pieces float enchantingly and menacingly in the waters. Whales swim by, peaking their heads and showing off their tails as cruisers lean over, awed, with binoculars. Waterfalls bloom out of the sides of mountains with the force of the water creating a thunderous sound.
This state is so breathtaking in every way.
THE BASICS
Time of Travel: July Type of Travel: Family
THE SHIP
Size: While Bliss is definitely not the biggest cruise ship in the world, it definitely appears like the biggest ship on the Alaskan waters when all the ships are parked next to each other at the ports. It’s impressive to see from afar and to walk up to when returning from the city.
We saw so many whales from our cruise ship windows! Not the best photo but I got too excited and eventually put away my camera to just enjoy the magnificent sights
Exterior Décor: The front of the ship is beautifully decorated and my brother and I joked that the artwork definitely invited all the whales to swim up near our ship. I was honestly so surprised by how many whales I saw on the cruise – definitely more than the last time I was in Alaska. The front of the ship is illustrated with the wildlife of the ocean – whales, turtles, and rays. It’s the perfect artwork for a cruise ship.
Interior Décor: The inside of the ship is also tastefully ornamented. In the center of the ship is a gorgeous glass-appearing staircase that wraps around and glitters in the light. The hot tubs are purposefully placed at the tail end of the ship and on the sides so there is a clear view of the ocean. Every room is carefully constructed to its theme.
Service: The staff on the ship is 5/5 stars. They are so incredibly friendly and accommodating and always willing to strike up a good conversation with you but they also know when to leave you alone as well. They always have a smile for you and their response to everything is quick. They all come from different countries around the world and it is fascinating to hear their stories and everywhere they have traveled!
THINGS TO DO ON THE SHIP
Observation Lounge: Located at the front of the ship, this area was one of my favorite areas on the ship. Decked out in large windows showcasing the beauty of Alaska, the lounge is full of comfy arm chairs and the best part? The bar in the middle as well as two buffets of tea time food fully stocked with finger sandwiches, salads, and desserts. On the days at sea, it’s the perfect area to chill with family and friends, play cards, and observe the Alaskan magnificence without being in the cold.
The Pool and Aqua Park: On one of the top decks of the ship is the pool and the incredible water slides on the ship. There is one water slide where you slide down in rafts and there is one thrilling slide that literally hangs over the ocean! There is a fun area where the kids congregate and hot tubs that dot the sides of the ship as well as the rear end. I highly recommend chilling in the hot tubs at the rear so you can see the full view of the ocean behind you as the ship sails.
Race Track: Yes, this ship has a whole level dedicated to a race track where you can race your family and friends either in a single cart or a double seater cart.
TIP: Book your reservations before you get onto the ship! My family and I did not realize that seats were limited so we did not get to try out this part of the cruise.
It does cost a small fee per drive
Mini Golf
Laser Tag: a small fee
Bliss Casino
Video Arcade
Bowling Alley: a small two lane bowling alley. It gets busy really fast! A small fee
Entourage Teen Club: a haven away from the parents – this place has video games, music, movies!
Fitness Center: this fitness center is legit. There is a running track outside and every machine and weight you could possibly need for a week long cruise.
Guppies: A great area for parents and their kids. Many interactive activities
Hair Salon
Plenty of Spas
Mandara Spa and Salon
Spa Salt Room – natural salt caves – halotherapy
Spa Snow Room – an ice cold arctic environment
Spa Thermal Suite
SHOWS
My favorite thing about cruises is the kind of night time entertainment the ship provides meaning the evening shows. I would say my review for this ship’s shows is probably a 4/5 stars in comparison to the other ships I’ve been on. The best shows I’ve seen on a ship still goes to Allure of the Seas, but this ship definitely provides a great entertainment and truly hats off to the hard working actresses and actors!
Happy Hour Prohibition: The Musical – $30 per person. This musical is set in a speakeasy and set in the Prohibition Era. My family and I chose not to see this one just because there was a fee and plenty of other free shows to see
Jersey Boys – such a great show about Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons
Havana – set at The Palace of Lights, this show brings you the beat and culture of Cuba (takes me back to my time in the Cuban capital!)
The great bands on the ship that play across different bars and lounges
Plenty of comedy shows – make sure you book when you get on the ship!
SHIP ROOM
My family of four booked two separate rooms without ocean views. I always encourage people that if you go on a cruise, try to book rooms with ocean views but obviously if it’s not affordable or available, then it is definitely not the end of the world. I only encourage ocean views for two reasons. One, I think it really helps with orientation to time and feeling as though you are not holed up on the ship. A window or a balcony brings light, views, and a breath of fresh air.
But like I said before, if you can’t get a room with ocean views, then it is completely okay too! My family got non-ocean view rooms and we were completely satisfied. The rooms were on the smaller side (but to be expected with cruise ships), but they were clean. The beds were super comfortable and could be put together or turned into two beds. The TV has a huge list of movies to buy but also a great select of TV channels that plays a cycle of movies depending on genre (action, romance, drama).
Nothing better than opening the door to your room and finding complimentary champagne!
BARS AND LOUNGES
There are so many bars and lounges on the ship and they are all excellent. So many options to choose from that I didn’t even get a chance to make it to all of them
Atrium Bar: This is the center of the ship and where a lot of the main ship’s entertainment occurs. There is a stage area and a movie screen where there are nightly movies and hilarious game shows.
Horizon Lounge
Humidor Cigar Lounge
Maltings Whiskey Bar
Mixx Bar
Skyline Bar
Social Comedy and Night Club
Spice H2O – the pool bar
Sugarcane Mojito Bar
The A-List Bar
The Cavern Club
The District Brew House
Vide Beach Club
THE FOOD
The Local: The 24hr pub experience! The two pros of this place is that it is open 24 hrs, the food is free, and there is a great view of the Atrium Bar stage meaning you can eat and watch entertainment one floor below
The Dining Rooms: There are three dining rooms on the ship that you can eat lunch and dinner at. Unlike the other cruises I’ve been on where you had to make reservations ahead of time and to eat at an assigned time, this cruise gives you the liberty to go whenever you would like. Because there are several dining rooms, there is always plenty of space at any time and thus you can dine on your own schedule.
Every day, there is a menu posted outside the dining rooms. You don’t have to look at each of the dining rooms’ menus because they are all the same. The menu does change for lunch and dinner every day
My mom was a bit disappointed that there was no true formal night with a lobster dish as we have found on other cruise ships
The Garden Café Buffet: I have to say that usually I am not a fan of the cruise buffets. The food usually is sub-par, but I have to say I was mildly impressed with the menu at this buffet. My family and I actually ended up eating here more than the dining rooms because of the expansive options and the ever changing menu.
There are hamburger/hot dog stations, Indian food station, a hot food station that changes every day according to the theme, Italian station, cold cuts station, Asian food station, salad station, and a huge dessert station
For drinks, there is a bar and non-alcoholic beverages such as tea, coffee, and different flavored waters
Room Service: This is complimentary and 24hrs a day but there is a service fee!
Restaurants (not complementary)
Ocean Blue – Seafood
Los Lobos – Mexican
Food Republic – Fusion
Cagney’s Steakhouse
Coco’s – Chocolate, Crepes
Dolce Gelato
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea
La Cucina – Italian
Le Bistro – French
Q – Texas BBQ
Teppanyaki
The Bake Shop
Starbucks
Tea Time Snacks
Room service juice with my champagne to make mimosas
PROS AND CONS
Pros
The last Alaskan cruise I went on seemed catered to adults, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this cruise really catered to family and the young kids.
Flexible dining room schedule
Plenty of activities on the ship
Friendly staff
Entertaining game shows that allows most of the ship guests to interact with each other
The buffet food is better than the other cruise ships I’ve sailed with
They have a package that every room gets on the ship – meaning that your price of the cruise comes with every ship getting a certain amount off at each excursion per port or a drinking ticket in which all the alcoholic beverages were free
They were also very big on hygiene and sanitizers
Cons
No main lobster dish
Not a true formal night on the ship (this is a pro or con depending on what your opinion of this is)
Most of the activities on the ship came with a small fee
The room service food was definitely not as good in quality as the rest of the food on the ship
ITINERARY
Detailed itineraries on how to do each port coming soon!
Seattle, Washington
Ketchikan, Alaska
Juneau, Alaska
Skagway, Alaska
Victoria, BC
Basically, I highly recommend this cruise as your first way of exploring Alaska!
Happy Traveling!

“Banjirou’s bubbletastic bubble tea”
Update: I got rid of a load of the spelling errors, sorry about that guys! I’ll try not to get rid of spelling errors at like 3-4 AM when I’m basically dying of exhaustion
request by @kacchako:  Hey there! :'D I was wondering, about your requests, is it OK to ask you to write something based on something I drew?
Tumblr media
here's the piece: they're sort of on a date to a bubble tea place (yeah I'm so original) and honestly I want to leave creative freedom up to you
Writers note: First of; I love your art! It’s very cute. And also a very cute date idea. I have been on a bubble tea date myself and 10/10 would recommend. Fellas, give your lady some exploding balls in her mouth. The PG kind.
Summary:
Bakugou and Uraraka have been together for quite some time now and have made into a habit to hang out together in each others rooms during the weekend. But just hanging out in each others rooms, watching movies, playing video games and doing homework can get boring sometimes. So they decide to go for an impromptu visit at one of their parents homes. Whilst going down there they discover a cute little cafe that happens to sells Uraraka’s favourite beverage: bubble tea.
Ship: Kacchako (Uraraka x Bakugou)
Already together, so lot’s of kisses!!!!!
(bubble tea) Date
Word Count: 2.392
‘Stupid fucking tiny buttons.’ Bakugou agressively presses the buttons on his playstation controller. Uraraka is standing on her knees behind him, draping herself over him. ‘I don’t think it’s the buttons Katsuki. It might be you.’ In a second the irritated boy pauses the game and struggles to turn his head. ‘I won’t hesistate to fling you over my head onto the floor you know.’ He unpauses and turns back to his game. Again, a string of insults are being flung to the television screen. Uraraka sighs. She’s been watching her boyfriend play a first person shooter game for about an hour now and it’s only now becoming boring seeing him lose almost every game. She let out a deep sigh which blew a few of his spikey, blond strands forward. Uraraka starts messing with his face, putting her hands on his cheeks, booping his nose and pulling the corners of his mouth into a smile. ‘I’m guessing you’re getting bored.’ Bakugou says, still concentrated on his game. ‘Maaaaybe?’ She let herself fall backwards on Bakugou’s bed. ‘Saturdays are always boring. Everyone has gone back to their family homes or went out.’ Bakugou pauses the game once again and throws the controller on the ground. ‘Fuck this.’ Bakugou lays down next to Uraraka facing her. She smiles and snuggles closer to his hard and muscled chest. ‘I thought you were going your folks this weekend?’ he mumbles. The girl furrowed her brow and Bakugou can feel it against his body. ‘Yeah…I was, but mom and dad are extra busy this time a year so I can probably visit in two weeks.’ ‘Two weeks?!’ ‘Two weeks.’ He wraps his arms around her, knowing how much it bothers her without her having to tell him verbally. ‘That sucks angel face.’ Even though Uraraka likes cuddling, she doesn’t like being babied by him. She hates showing too much emotion, to anyone. She knows it makes people uncomfortable and for someone like Bakugou who can’t even say ‘I love you’ to her without struggling to get each sullible out, it would be a hopeless situation. ‘When were you going to see your mom and dad?’ Bakugou pulls her tighter into his embrace. ‘Eh, I haven’t told them I was coming because I wasn’t sure I felt like it you know?’ Uraraka looks over his head at the clock on the head of his bed. ‘It’s not too late, you want to go see your parents together?’ Bakugou starts laughing and put his hands on her face. ‘Do you really want to see my mom again? You know what happened last time.’ Uraraka does remember. Her partner is the spitting image of his mother and their matching personalities often work too well. It’s also like his mother lives for embarassing her son. The last time Uraraka was over she told a childhood story about when Bakugou tried to explode a bit of dog poop in the park and it exploded in his face, leaving him smelling for hours. ‘I told you a hundred times, I thought it was funny!’ Bakugou squeezes her cheeks together. ‘It wasn’t.’ ‘It was,’ she giggles. Bakugou squeezes her face even more. ‘No, it fucking wasn’t.’ Bakugou can’t hold a straight face anymore and starts laughing hysterically, which made Uraraka laugh as well. She can only imagine how silly face looks. ‘But seriously,’ she stomps his shoulder. ‘It would be nice to have a homecooked meal as well.’ Bakugou’s laughter becomes softer. He has to seriously think. He let her go, turns around and picks his phone off the coffee table. He checks the train times to see if they can make it to his house before dinner. When he seriously has to think he put his hand to his chin and supports that with his other arm. That’s when he looks most attractive to Uraraka she mentioned once. ‘Okay, okay, okay, we have to leave the dorm in like 15 minutes then.’ Uraraka jumps up onto her feet and fell onto him. ‘Thank you!’ she starts kissing him all over. On his crown, on his left ear, on his chin, on his nose. Literally everywhere. It tickles and Bakugou hates tickling. ‘God dammit, stop that.’ ‘You-like-it.’ Uraraka said teasingly inbetween kisses. Bakugou starts kissing her everywhere back and they’re just lying there. Like a lovesick pile of people, laughing and kissing. ‘Come on, we need to get changed, Kat-Katsuk-Katsuki stop that, you win!’ Bakugou stops and sits up, proudly smiling down at her. Uraraka’s body can finally relax and she feels like she can finallly breathe for the first time in about five minutes. The tall, broad boy, sticks out his hand. She grabs it and he pulls her up. ‘Come on, we can’t miss our train.’
The couple is walking down almost abandoned shopping area close to the Bakugou household. Since a big shopping center opened up near the train station, this place has been pretty much a ghost town. ‘I didn’t think it was going to be so sunny out here, gosh.’ Uraraka squints her eyes and tries to block out the sun with her free hand. ‘It’s always sunny here, I swear I’ve told you that a million times’, Bakugou growls against the sun shining in his eyes. Uraraka is looking down the road trying to find a touristy shop that sells some cheap sunglasses. She suddenly stops walking and Bakugou almost yanks her forward. ‘What the hell.’ Her mouth opens slowly. ‘No way’, she said softly. ‘No way what?’ ‘No flipping way!’ Bakugou irritatedly turns around and yells: ‘No flipping way what?!’ Bakugou looks across the street and there’s one building that stands out from all the bland buildings surrounding it. It’s a light yellow coloured building with small flowers perks and flowy white curtains at it’s window. It has a big sign that says: Banjirou’s bubbletastic bubble tea.
‘What the fuck is a bubbletastic bubble tea?’ Bakugou says with one eyebrow raised. A loud gasp escapes his girlfriends mouth. She pulls her hand away and slowly put it near her mouth.  ‘Do you seriously not know what bubble tea is?’ Bakugou shrugs and clunkily wipes his sweaty hand on his baggy jeans. ‘Well, you know, I know what tea is of course. I’m not stupid. But what the fuck is the bubble part. Uraraka grabs his arm and rushes across the street. She admires the building with all it’s soft and aesthetically pleasing aspects. Her eyes start to sparkle. Even though they have been together for a while, Uraraka can still make Bakugou blush from time to time. ‘Bubble tea is one of the most amazing beverages in the world! It’s tea where they put in bubbles at the bottom of your drink. They call those bubbles topioca pearls and they have all kinds of different flavors of them and of course they’re edible.’ Bakugou tilts his head at her. ‘I’m sorry but those bubbles or pearls or whatever might be on of the most unecessary things I’ve ever heard about in my life.’ Uraraka pouts. ‘Don’t say that!’ Bakugou puts his hands behind his head and laughs. ‘I’m sorry angel face but I’m kind of right.’ Uraraka huffs and pushes past him into the cafe. A small and frail old man behind the counter croaks: ‘Good day lady and gent and welcome to Banjirou’s bubbletastic bubbletea, what can I get you today?’ Uraraka greets him back and starts admiring the cafe. It’s small and has a homely feel to it. The furniture is made of some dark old wood and the tables have pastel colored table cloths on them. Each a different colour. Bakugou looks at the menu above the old man, written carefully in chalk on green chalkboards. He’s a bit thrown off by all the flavours he can choose from. Uraraka naturally starts a conversation with the old man, talking about when he opened his cafe and the interior design of the cafe. The conversation quickly turns into Uraraka rambling into her love for bubble tea. Bakugou can tell the poor old man is getting overwhelmed by her enthousiasm and interupts her. ‘Uraraka! You might want to give your order now.’ The old man laughs and waves his hand at him. ‘Oh don’t worry about it, she’s the first person in this cafe I’ve seen talking about bubble tea so passionately, it lights me up inside.’ ‘Same here old man.’ Bakugou mutters. ‘Don’t you fancy some bubble tea as well young man?’ Bakugou walks closer to the counter. He had stared at the menu for quite some time but has no idea what he should go for. ‘She knows what I want.’ Only Uraraka seems to notice that Bakugou is playing off his ignorance. She doesn’t mind it at all because she already thought of a drink he could try first. ‘I would like some melon tea with strawberry pearls and I think he would like some hot chai tea with the standard pearls, both medium sized cups.’ The old man, claps his hands and steps of his little stand. ‘What a wonderful choice young lady, coming right up!’ he shuffles from station to station and gently prepares the two drinks for them. Bakugou fishes his wallet out of his pocket and just manages to fish out enough coins out of it to pay for the beverages. Uraraka pretends to not see her partner pay for the both of them. They decided to never talk about who paid for what after having a heated discussion at a burger joint fighting about that she could pay for her own food. After that she bursted out in tears in the middle of the restaurant and back at the dorm she opened up more about her financial status. Even though the man seems physically unfit he manages to fix up their tea’s in no time. ‘There you go lovebirds! Enjoy your drinks!’ He picks up the coins Bakugou laid out and put them in the pocket of his apron. They pick up their drinks at the same time and Bakugou tilts his cup. ‘These balls sure are hella weird.’ ‘Please don’t call them balls.’ ‘They’re balls though, edible balls…Well, I guess all balls are edi-.’ Uraraka threw him her signature “you better shut it” look. ‘Bakugou, I swear.’ ‘Wow, back to the last name basis again, might as well get dumped here and now.’ Uraraka face softens and took a few steps towards him. She stands right under his nose looking up into his firestone like eyes. ‘Are you just gonna wait for me to try it before you start drinking your tea?’ The girl who seemed to be all sparkles nods. She takes a step back and gives Bakugou all the space to potentially enjoy his drink. Bakugou groans and takes a sip. His brows raise up and his eyes focus on his straw making him look crosseyed. ‘What the fuck?’ Uraraka finally decides to take a sip of her own drink and lets out a satisfied puff of air. ‘Who invented this shit?! Even though Bakugou’s face suggests that he’s still unsure about it, he’s still taking confident sips. ‘I hate to say it but these are too good.’ The old man who is cleaning up his stations nods with a big bright smile on his face. Uraraka  takes Bakugou’s hand and waves with her cup at the old man. ‘We’re gonna get going now, thank you sir!’ They step outside and continue their journey to the Bakugou household. Uraraka was literally beaming. He knew food made her happy but this is something else. ‘My drink has…cinnamon in it right?’ Bakugou pauses mid sentence to take another big sip. ‘Mhm!’ Uraraka chirps. ‘I like it, it’s spicy in a way.’ ‘You’re kind of a weird guy Katsuki.’ ‘I just like spicy things!’ Uraraka jolts up like she remembered something and pulls her lips off the straw. ‘You should try mine!’ Bakugou, now being completely on the bubble tea train, bends over and took a sip without any hesitation. When the fruity pearl exploded in his mouth his head knocked back he and started choking. ‘That is not okay! Your damn balls are trying to fucking kill me!’ Uraraka immediately folds from laughter and Bakugou just sticks his tongue out with a confused look on his face. ‘All the fruit balls are like that! Oh shoot, now I’m calling them balls!’ she hicks. After letting her laugh til she almost couldn’t breathe Bakugou shoves his drink in her face. ‘Try mine. My drink won’t try to fucking kill you.’ Uraraka stands up straight and puts her hair behind her ears. ‘Okay, okay, right!’ Her lips surround the straw and she looks up to him. She hums. ‘I actually never had this one before but I’m considering getting this one next time!’ Bakugou proudly looks at his drink. ‘That’s what I thought.’ They continue their walk, Uraraka still gushing about the interior design of the cafe and Bakugou talking about what he hopes is on the table tonight. They joke, laugh and enjoy their drinks in the autumn sun. When almost finsihing their drinks they wait next to a trashcan so they can throw thema way immediately. ‘Hurry up.’ Uraraka just about makes out when Bakugou is trying to sip up the remaning balls. Before you know it, it’s a race. Uraraka being careful and a bit slower on purpose so the competetive boy doesn’t go to fast and chokes on a pearl again. Bakugou reaches his last three pearls, sucks them up his straw and blows it onto Uraraka’s face. The tiny black bubble bounched of her small nose and onto the sidewalk. She stopped immediately and her eyes widened. ‘You did not!’ Making sure his girlfriend actually doesn’t get angry he throws his cup away and grabs both of her shoulders. ‘Don’t be mad!’ he kisses the little drop of tea that the bubble left on her nose. Her body that was once so tense relaxed immediately. He kisses her nose again. Every kiss saying. “I was just fooling around, I’m sorry”. Uraraka turns her head away after the fourth kiss. Bakugou let go of her shoulders and crosses his arms. ‘Don’t tell me you’re actually upse-‘ a pink pearl bounces of his forehead. ‘You’re gonna get it lady.’ Bakugou smirks.
