A Sunny Escape with Momo Ayase
Today, Momo is basking in the sunshine on a serene beach. Wrapped in a vibrant floral sarong and a simple white bikini top, she’s wandering barefoot on the golden sands, collecting seashells as turquoise waves roll in the background. It’s a perfect day for a peaceful getaway.
What’s your favorite way to enjoy a day at the beach? Does it look like this?

Ghost Fixers Chapter 2: Don't Worry, That's Definitely Real
Tumblr media
Though I might be a bit of a Summertime Rendering hater, I ultimately acknowledged Tanaka's visual talent with the series, and was curious to see how their next work would go. Though it may only be two chapters so far, I think Ghost Fixers really is a great extension of Tanaka's ability that sees them improve a great deal in regards to the written work of manga.
The action comedy angle very easily permeates the entirety of this chapter once more, really showing the awareness that Tanaka has of the direction they want to take this in. Though it might be humorous quite often, and take advantage of strong character dynamics early on, the overall genre of the work does little to get in the way of Tanaka's exposition and exploration of this world.
Starting each chapter off with an explanation via VTubers that Hifumi watches for example, is a very novel idea and does well to tie in to both the world and its more humorous side.
Even the exposition that Hifumi's mother provides rolls off the tongue of the work very easily. Truthfully, I think a lot of that comes from the overall flow provided.
To that end I think Tanaka's conversational dialogue has grown a great deal (though works really well when played against strong character dynamics), and fits quite well against the really full and dynamic panel layouts.
Overall the conversation rarely has felt dry, and the scenes are quite varied and focus a great deal on depth within confined spaces, keeping things from getting monotonous or settled.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And within those conversations, Tanaka's done a really great job of drip feeding the reader information. Hints towards superpowers and the prior existence of the supernatural in the world has been given, and we even see some information as to how Kirarazaka's briefcase works- which in its own way was super interesting to learn about.
Tumblr media
Where Hifumi's ghost was explored at the beginning of the first chapter, the first ghost that Hifumi and Kirarazaka fought in that first chapter was actually a nod to Kirarazaka's own ghost. Very fun idea.
Anyways, though I've been praising the subversion of expectations with Tanaka's subtle and very well integrated foundation work, they've also done great at expressing the more intense moments of action and humor so far. Things like Hifumi jumping out of a window to avoid Kirarazaka, or Kirara (her name's too long) teasing Hifumi once they're at school come across very naturally, and find just the right entry points to break up any sense of monotony in the chapter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's overall, just a really great showing from Tanaka. Being able to get into the feel of things so quickly with this new series is really great to see, and being such a departure from Summertime Rendering gives them plenty of space to explore new and interesting ideas through this fresh world.
Though, we'll still certainly see some... Ghosts from STR. After all, Shunpei (under a new name) has made his debut in this Ghost Fixers chapter as a homeroom teacher.

Spy x Family rambling
Endo Sensei's taking a break,so the series Spy x Family will be back on September 3.
WISE after a lot of sweat won the fight. The case with mole Winston Wheeler, the classified files in his hands. But WISE mole,Jeffrey,in the SSS Communications has been taken out. SAD(:
Tumblr media
As much Important is what follows,in what way?..
What will reveal the interrogation on Wheeler? His motive(about secretly working for SSS)is unknown. But on chapter 85 he says to Fiona "you Western spies". So does he feel of Ostanian descent?
Fact is the Ostanian SSS lost big time. However they're not intimidated by a such defeat.
I wonder, would the Director of SSS plan to use the captured Jeffrey to lure WISE agents in a deadly ambush? Why not...? It certainly fits the Director's mentality. And Anya? She was unaware of the dread spy conflict, whose outcome would definitely decide her life. Maybe she'll read Papa's mind, and learn what was happening..
Let's keep in mind the newcomer in SSS,agent Cloe is an interesting girl.I would tell her "Hi Ojousama. Good day all day".

I'm also a fan of reading physical books but since there are so many volumes of manga I tend to read them digitally most of the time and can give some recommendations :)
My personal go-to is the site https://bookwalker.jp/free/ because they have many volumes of popular series available completely for free. Currently they have the newest volumes of Spy Family and Jujutsu Kaisen, as well as the first 5 volumes of Golden Kamuy. I can also recommend bookwalker because you don't need an account to read their free volumes, but if you decide to make an account and purchase a volume, you can pay with paypal without needing a Japanese address like on other sites.
If you're a fan of shonen manga and shonen jump specifically, check out https://shonenjumpplus.com/ . It's their official site where they upload all the chapters of their past and running series and the newest chapters can always be read for free. The first three chapters of any series are also available usually. If you just want to have a look at the series to see how well you can read the language used in the story this is just right in my opinion.
If you find that the Japanese in manga is hard to understand at this point in your studies, there are also some options specifically created for Japanese learners e.g. Crystal Hunters and the 30-pages annotated manga by the Japan Foundation. These two ressources are also completely free and created with learners in mind.
(I wrote a bit about starting to read manga in Japanese on my blog last year. Feel free to check it out if you like^^)
hi! i'm sorry for the dumb question but i wanted to finally start reading manga in japanese (i already have a little list of titles beginner-friendly) buuuut i'm not sure where i actually find it ;; sorry again for the stupid question
Not a dumb question at all! There are a bunch of places to get manga, the most accessible probably being (unfortunately) amazon.jp. You need to have a Japanese address to buy things regardless of where it's being shipped to (or not, in the case of ebooks), but I believe just any address will do. You can also sometimes buy manga directly on the publisher's sites. Cmoa is another good place to check, and they also will often have entire volumes of manga available to read on their site for free (just look for the 無料 section). Bilingualmanga might also be of interest. It's free (and therefore sometimes gets taken down), but is exactly what it sounds like. Their selection isn't huge, but what they do have, they have in both English and Japanese.
If you want to buy physical volumes, CDJapan is my go-to. I'm in the USA, but I'm pretty sure they ship to most parts of the world. Kinokuniya is also a good place to buy manga from, especially if you're lucky enough to have a physical store near you. My main issue with them is that I think they're overpriced, though. Another thing that depends on luck, if you have any Book Off stores near you, go check them out! It's secondhand, so finding what you're looking for is definitely luck based, but I think it's a good experience to browse Japanese language books and manga regardless.
If you're having trouble finding something in particular, or want some... slightly less legal sources, feel free to contact me off anon!

A Serene Afternoon with Bamora Vamola
This afternoon, Bamora is embracing tranquility in a traditional Japanese tea room. She wears a silk kimono with a delicate floral pattern, its loosely tied obi belt allowing the flowing fabric to move gracefully as she sits barefoot on the tatami mat. The soft natural light filters through the shoji screens, highlighting the low wooden table with a steaming teapot and a carefully placed bonsai. The warm ambiance completes the serene moment.
What would you enjoy most about a peaceful setting like this?

Goze Hotaru Chapter 2: The Little Bird Takes Flight
Tumblr media
I'm saying this right now, Goze Hotaru is the best new manga Shounen Jump+ has seen in years. Go read it.
In terms of this chapter specifically though, it's really incredible how Tosaya has been able to successfully conclude (temporarily, at least) 2 different characters within the span of a pair of chapters.
Hotaru's adoptive brother Masa has gone from the older brother that drags his sister everywhere, to the overprotective and meek sibling that feels pity and sorrow for his sister, to the older brother that's recognized the independence of his sibling and wistfully watches that little girl walk out into life on her own.
Hotaru's grandfather on the other hand actually regresses, feeling guilt in burdening Hotaru with the truth of her parents and seeing her join the Goze. His feelings of guilt and failure essentially force Hotaru into putting on a brave face to depart with the Goze, but it ultimately promises a reunion full of love and happiness when the pair see each other next.
And then there's the art, oh the art. I don't think I've seen a mangaka debut with art as incredible as this in a very long time- and I mean a very long time.
Tosaya deftly cements Hotaru's sparkles as a part of the visual language of the series, a representation of her excitement, anticipation, and passion, and the looser and darker pages as an expression of Hotaru's imaginary visuals for the various stories that appear in this manga.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is quite honestly, borderline freakish artistic talent. Tosaya has immediately carved out an incredibly well refined artistic niche that they execute upon constantly. Rough linework, heavy and sketchy shadows, backgrounds full of swirling lines that make every moment feel tumultuous and turbulent, much like the uncertainty and confusion that Hotaru faces with every turn.
Tumblr media
It is, very simply put, a manga that everyone should be reading. I'm certain it'll see a quick release from Viz, and will quickly become a series of critical acclaim. These first two chapters are just too incredible to deny.

Tatsuki Fujimoto's 'Look Back' Gets Animated Film Adaptation
Tatsuki Fujimoto's 'Look Back' Gets Animated Film Adaptation. #ルックバック #LookBack #manga #anime
One of Fujimoto’s most emotional manga stories is getting an animated film adaptation. Look Back, a tale about two friends who strive to become Manga Artists, also is a tale of tragedy, in this sorrowful elegy. In the announcement, Kiyotaka Oshiyama (The Wind Rises, Deca Dance, The Boy, and The Heron) will be taking on the role of the Director, the screenplay, and character design. Studio Durian…

Apparently the new Shonen Jump+ series called History's Mentalist by Tomato Tri and Natsuko Uruma wanted to get real real and be depressingly relatable for many during these past few years!
