The Maligned Yuri Bracket's preliminary round is underway!

It will still take me a good deal more time to find or make images for all of these pairings and schedule the polls, so don't expect voting to start up right away. But let's take a look at our contestants anyway!

EDIT: The preliminary round has started! This post will be updated with links to polls as they are posted and results as they come out.

I've decided that all pairings that received more than one submission will automatically be included in the final bracket, since there were so few of them. The remaining pairings have been sorted into 55 matchups of 2-4 pairings each, the winners of which will be added to a final bracket of 64.

Classroom for Heroes Anime New Trailer

The upcoming Hero Classroom anime adaptation has received a character introduction trailer, a second key visual, and more cast details. The Classroom for Heroes novels, by Shin Araki, follow Arnest Fleming, a girl who holds the top record at hero-training school Rosewood Academy. Her latest assignment has her tasked with guiding a mysterious but cheery new student named Blade, whose power might rival her own. The newly announced voice actors and characters are: • Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Maria/Mao • Aya Uchida as Iona • Eri Yukimura as Claire • Haruka Shiraishi as Jessica • Shuuichi Uchida as Clay • Tomohiro Oono as Cassim • Tomohito Takatsuka as Leonard • Konomi Kohara as Eliza • Rikiya Koyama as King Gilgamesh • Tetsu Inada as Asmodeus The opening theme will be performed by NIJISANJI VTuber Kaede Higuchi and the ending theme will be performed by Akane Kumada. Cast members revealed thus far include Reiji Kawashima as Blade, Misuzu Yamada as Arnest Flaming, Nao Toyama as Sophitia and Hina Kino as Kufurin.  Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Spy Classroom) is directing the Hero Classroom anime, with Naoki Hayashi (Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU) on series composition and Kosuke Kawamura on character designs and chief animation director at anime studio ACTAS. The series made its debut as part of Shueisha’s Dash X Bunko imprint back in January 2015, with Haruyuki Morisawa providing illustrations. Classroom for Heroes has also inspired a manga adaptation by Koara Kishida, which runs in Ultra Jump magazine.

Shupure x Nogizaka46 5th Generation: Tomisato Nao (Shupure; 11.12.2023)

The case of Tomisato Nao: to forget about sadness.

Tomisato Nao, a 5th generation member of Nogizaka46, is charming and friendly. She's a cherished character who's loved by everybody. Even though Tomisato Nao gives off such an impression, this girl's days in elementary school weren't bright by any means.

"When I was in the middle of elementary school, things started falling apart with a girl in my class. Because of a small misunderstanding, no longer was I able to call this girl a 'friend'."

Although the person in question describes it as a 'small thing', at a time when one's very impressionable, it was more than enough to make her become afraid of others.

Even after going on to junior high, she still didn't know who to trust and who to look in the eyes. Soon enough, no longer could this girl go to school.

"I couldn't study because I wasn't able to go to classes, and there wasn't any high school I wanted to go to. When I had reached a dead end in terms of my future prospects, my father encouraged me to try out the 5th generation audition, saying 'You should try it out, just once.' Right then was when I remembered a movie I had seen a long time ago, called 'Kanashimi no Wasurekata (How to forget sadness)'."

'Kanashimi no Wasurekata: Documentary of Nogizaka46' was released in 2015. With the theme of 'People can change', the documentary depicts moments where the members were able to take a step forward, overcoming past events.

"When I saw it, I remember being very surprised to learn that even Shiraishi Mai-san had been unable to go to school. Remembering that, I thought to myself 'Maybe this is a place where even I can make a difference, too'."

An idol group where the great seniors have dispelled the murky past - such is the Nogizaka46 that Tomisato longed for, and she took the audition hoping to find a place where she could belong. Just now, two years after being accepted, this girl says that she is being supported by a certain 'kindness'.

"I came across members who have had all sorts of experiences, much like myself of the past. I remember being taken aback and thinking [for example] 'This is such a strong girl, this wonderful girl who thinks a lot about others' feelings'. I was happy to get to meet such a respectful girl, and after all, Nogizaka46 is indeed full of people who earnestly care for those around them, just as I pictured it would be before I auditioned. I think that thanks to that kindness, I'm now able to live life like myself."
