Since the musical classic Shellendorf has now been out for about a decade, I have a request for a weapon spotlight: The Bamboozeler! I’d love to learn about the history of it and its strategies.

Ask and you shall receive!

Weapon Spotlight: Bamboozler 14 Mk I and Bamboozler 14 Mk II

That's right: for the anniversary of Shellendorf: the Musical, we're covering two kits in one! The Bamboozler is a unique and versatile charger weapon with a design that's held up for over 100 years! The model we sell today remains as faithful to what you'd see back in the days of the Great Turf War as possible while still remaining within the Turf War Association's guidelines.

About a year into the Great Turf War, the Octarian army secured much of Inkadia's resources to build their Great Octoweapons, an impressive series of technological advancements whose details I'll save for another post ;), leaving Inklings practically defenseless. Desperate to secure a victory, the Inkadian government drafted countless Inklings, but there weren't enough materials to properly arm them. Back then, sardinium was the main component of Inkling weaponry and artillery, and at that point, the Octarians controlled all the Sardinium mines.

That is until none other than my grandpappy, Ammoses Shellendorf (pictured on the far left in the photo above), came up with the idea to use Inkadia's wide stretches of bamboo forests to the squids' advantage, and he designed a rudimentary, but flexible weapon that any sea creature could easily make with just a little bamboo!

With Grandpappy's ingenuity, Cap'n Craig Cuttlefish's leadership, and a stroke of luck, the Squidbeak Splatoon and the rest of the Inkling militia was able to outnumber and out-tentacle the Octarian army, claiming Inkadia for the Inklings and their allies! Shellendorf goes into more detail about the events leading up to the invention of the Bamboozler, all backed up by Grandpappy's notes from the war (though the dance numbers are a creative liberty, I'll admit!)

And did you know that the Bamboozler, in addition to being the weapon that saved the Squidbeak Splatoon, was the first and most popular weapon that Ammoses sold when he first founded Ammo Knights? The squids of early Inkopolis were greatly inspired by Cap'n Cuttlefish's heroics on the battlefield, so naturally, the weapon he and the rest of the Squidbeak Splatoon used were the coolest thing on the market.

Nowadays, the Bamboozler remains a mainstay in the Ammo Knights lineup, and for good reason, too! There's no charger quite like it (except for maybe the Classic Squiffer, but we'll save that for another spotlight post) as its comparitively weaker damage output and inability to store charges or pierce opponents is made up for with an incredible charge rate, mobility, and paint output for a charger. It's not the easiest weapon to pick up in modern day Turf War games, but those who can master it can dominate a match as the weapon lends well to creating devastating combos with its consistent range no matter how long you spend charging it (which is almost no time at all!) Whether you're on the offensive, sneaking and sniping, or supporting your team, the Bamboozler can handle any situation!

Like I said at the beginning of the post, we'll be going over two Bamboozler kits: the 14 Mk I and the 14 Mk II. The Mk I comes with Autobombs and Killer Wail 5.1. The Autobomb is a sub weapon that focuses on displacement: if your opponent can't outrun it, they get splatted or take enough damage for you to splat with your main weapon, and even if they do, you can easily chase them out of hiding! And with the Killer Wail 5.1, you can amass even more chip damage and combo potential and chase opponents away from the objective!

The Mk II, meanwhile, comes with a kit that focuses more on ink coverage with Fizzy Bombs and Super Chumps. With a Fizzy Bomb, you can create a reliable ink trail for movement, and if you take the time to shake it before throwing, you can cause a chain of explosions that can easily catch opponents off guard! You have the lethality and chip damage the Autobomb provides, but even more so. And the Super Chumps special is also pretty handy as it makes many bursts of ink and covers a lot of turf, and anyone caught in the explosions will find themselves vulnerable to—you guessed it—a combo with the Bamboozler!

It takes a good bit of skill to bring out the Bamboozler's full potential, but when you do, you can turn a match into a warzone and show your opponents exactly why this weapon has survived the test of time!

Pro tip: Just about any combination of shots from a Bamboozler can splat an opponent, whether it be two partial shots, a fully charged shot and a tap shot, a charged shot and a sub weapon's splash damage, or one of your shots with one of someone else's. Use whatever opportunity works best in the current fight!

January:

For the first time ever Frostyfest was hosted in Splatsville!

Mincemeat Metalworks went through a redesign.

During Off The Hook’s final performance for their World Tour, Marina has a wardrobe malfunction on stage. Pearl immediately screams at the top of her lungs and causes the lights to break.

February:

Inkopolis Square had a mental health crisis where a bunch of people went into a mindless blank. This cleared up a couple weeks later.

Baggy Clothes bursts into popularity.

March:

Suffer No Fools by Off The Hook v Fire and Ice dropped

Toni Kensa got drunk at a party and posted on Squitter that ‘The Enperry Brand is a pathetic excuse of a brand.’ This trended for WEEKS. Pearl made a statement stating that ‘Toni is some snobby loser who gets no bitches.’

April:

Undertow Spillway went through a redesign.

Fans of C-Side and Squid Squad feud online over the song Splattack! This led to several c-side fans doxxing a group of squid squad fans.

Paul from Sashimori begins an ARG like event to advertise the band’s new EP that released later that year.

May:

A Makomart manager at the Inkopolis location was found guilty of embezzlement.

Owner of Ammo Knights, Sheldon, speaks out against Squitism Speaks, claiming it is ‘dangerous to the Squitism community.’

June:

New history unveiled about the great turf war reveals that Craig Cuttlefish and DJ Octavio were “very close friends” and even shared quarters with eachother on several occasions. Neither parties have chosen to comment on this findings.

Shellendorf becomes the most listened to musical since the Lionfish King.

July:

Scientists have discovered a treatment for “Fuzzification” so people infected can have better qualities of life. These treatments allow for those affected to be able to change their ink colors, allowing them to participate in Ink Sports and other activities.

August:

Baker from C-Side said a slur on national television.

Omega 3’s DJ, The Faithful Servant of the True Salmon Emperor Hizunamasu, learns how to play Tromebone, Clarinent, AND Flute just to get samples for the new song, Double Clickbait. Salmon Runners who worked at Salmon Jammin’ Junction said it “wasn’t very good” and “needed tuning.”

Local punk Spyke gets arrested for tax evasion. Is released by technicality.

September:

Salmonid Tribes attack the still under construction Grand Splatlands Bowl, causing Grizzco to put all hands on deck to collect over a billion eggs in order to drive out the Salmonids.

During this, a Salmonid rights activist is caught and arrested for attempting to set fire to Grizzco’s Splatsville branch. Grizzco officials said that the damage was minimal, but shocking nevertheless.

The Salmonid rights activist escaped prison. Grizzco has chosen to drop charges.

Grand Festival featuring the Squid Sisters, Off The Hook, and Deep Cut went off with a bang. The fest’s theme being Which is most important to you: Past, Present or Future. Team Past won.

October:

A young inkling splats another inkling as a “Splatoween prank”, cries when facing the consequences of her actions.

November:

Nothing ever happens in November.

December:

Salmonid Tribes attacked Wahoo World, and sends Grizzco under fire for their lack of management as a Goldie has been reported to be stabbing employees and civilians with multiple knives.

A large fight happened on Fiddler Tower ending with idol group Colorgraphic dropping a new remix of Calamari Inkantation. And later dropping a new single titled Re:UNIon. (Please listen to it, it made me cry several times)

Every Splatfest, Splat! Magazine releases a special edition set of magazines for each team, detailing their perspectives for the fest. This is the Drums version for the current Splatfest!

I'm not on drums, but Bezique definitely would be! This is the next in the set of magazine covers I've been making :)) I love making these each time and I hope to make more! Some more lore: In the rp universe where this one is set, Bezique and Sheldon are good friends, and Bez is helping him get some good publicity through inviting him to do this magazine shoot with her, as well as getting an interview set up for him to discuss the new weapon kits he's got set up!

either that or it's another instance of human era art surviving and inklings taking inspiration from it. The characters that make up their written language are, in-universe, originally inspired by human writing systems. There is also music in game that uses remixed human music recordings, and human era video game consoles in shellendorf so not too far fetched that some random thing with a blooper on it was unearthed

There is no escape from Shellendorf: The Musical, nor is there an escape from Sheldon rapping about his grandpappy. There will be even more insane efforts to teach the kids overly dramatized and watered down Turf War history; I can't stop him. Help me.

Neo walked into the elevator of the apartment building, checking Agent 4’s text again to make sure it had the right address.

Party at my place on Saturday, 4:00

48 Shellendorf Street Apt. 73

(There’s going to be a surprise!)

Neo had only met Agent 4 once, but they seemed like a fun person. It would love to challenge them to a 1v1 sometime. It was arriving ten minutes late, but that wasn’t unusual for it. Neo knocked on the door and it swung open. Four stood there, beaming.

“Hey, Neo! Glad you could make it! Come on in!” They took its arm and pulled it into the apartment.

The other agents were scattered about the room. Captain stood by the counter, taking handfuls of snacks. Eight sat on the couch, bouncing his leg to the beat of the music blaring from the speakers. Agent 1 and Agent 2 leaned against a wall, chatting. Pearl and Marina were there as well, talking with them. Cuttlefish floated around from group to group. And Deep Cut sat on the floor as Big Man tried to teach Shiver and Frye how to play a card game.

“You were invited too? I didn’t know you three knew Agent 4.” Neo walked over to the trio and tried to make conversation. Things had been awkward since it had beaten them in battle and Neo wanted to try and alleviate the tension.

“We don’t, but we heard Boss Marie say something about a party and we wanted to come. It’s kinda boring though,” Frye said before smashing her cards down. “Bam! I win!”

“Ay, ay… (No you don’t, that’s not how this game works…)”

“Okay!” Four stood in the middle of the room, demanding everyone’s attention. “Everyone’s here so it’s time for the surprise!” With that, Four ran into their bedroom, appearing moments later holding an octopus in their arms. They carefully placed the octopus on the ground as they took their humanoid form. The octoling stood next to Four, towering over the inkling beside them. Their tentacles fell over one eye, the other covered with a set of red sunglasses. They wore a black dress that had been torn on one end, held together by a red string. But the most peculiar thing about them, something that Neo had never seen before, was that their skin was green. It was a little bit scared of them, but its curiosity always won out against fear. Who was this strange person? It peered over at Captain for guidance.

“Meet Acht! My amazing partner!” Four squeezed Acht into a hug, the two of them smiling.

Captain felt like they had just been stabbed by a million needles. Four had never said anything about their partner being sanitized. This was not good. Did Four know? Of course they did they weren’t that much of an idiot. But then why would they trust a sanitized octoling, knowing how dangerous they are? Captain looked to Eight. He would get it, he fought those things firsthand. But he was smiling at them. How could he smile at something like that thing? 

“They’re sanitized,” Marie said skeptically. At least she understood. 

“Well, sort of. Not mentally. Anymore.” Four struggled to explain.

“I was partially sanitized years ago. When Marina’s Memverse project went online, I got pulled in. Because it was made to help restore the minds of sanitized octolings, it helped me slowly get better. Due to only being partially sanitized, I didn’t even have to climb the spire to start getting myself back.” Acht finally spoke, helping Four to relay their sanitization status to the group. “While the physical effects will likely never go away, or at the very least take a really long time, my mind is no longer sanitized at all.”

“I don’t understand anything that’s happening right now.” Neo butted in.

“Oh right, I forgot we never filled you in on the whole Deepsea Metro thing, sorry Neo!” Four said. “Actually, Eight you’d probably be better suited to explain this.”

Eight nodded, “The Deepsea Metro is an underground subway system run by Kamabo Co, which was created by Commander Tartar. Tartar was an AI created by humans which decided that cephalopods were not fit to be the new dominant species, and so it decided to try and create a perfect version of us. It put octolings like me through tests, promising that they would go to the ‘Promised Land’ if they gathered four Thangs. Those who did, also like me, were to be blended into an ooze which was used to sanitize other octolings. Sanitization causes them to lose all their memories, personality, sense of self, everything. Acht was only partially sanitized, so it wasn’t so extreme. Captain was also partially sanitized for a short time in Tatar’s attempts to stop me from breaking out of the metro.” 

As Eight said that, Acht looked up at Captain in surprise. There was someone else here who has been controlled by Tartar? Sure enough, there was a large cyan scar over Captain’s eye. I must have been where the ooze touched her skin. But she just looked away from Acht. If she knew what it was like, why did she seem so reluctant to look at them? Eight continued, “Thankfully I was able to save Captain before the sanitization took hold and escape the metro along with putting a stop to Tartar’s plans. Acht escaped later on after their mind was fully returned to normal, though I’m assuming only recently since they never told me that they finally got out. But I figured they would soon since Four asked me for a map. You don’t go to the metro for a vacation.” Eight eyed Acht with a grin along his face. Acht was worried he’d be upset that they’d never told him, but he seemed to just be happy for them.

“Oh so kind of like what Mr. Grizz tried to do. He also wanted to take over the world and control people, but to the best of my knowledge he didn’t blend anyone.”

“He did try to remove Cuttlefish’s brain though,” Shiver spoke calmly despite the gravity to her words.

“If I had a nickel for every time I almost died in the field, I’d be the richest squid here.” Cuttlefish waved a tentacle in emphasis.

“Not by a long shot.” Pearl smirked.

“Wait wait wait wait!” Callie interrupted the conversation with a shout. “Acht you’re a musician, right? I just looked you up on Splatify and it says you recently released a collab with Off the Hook!? Does this mean you’re going to be making music in Splasville now!?”

“Like hell you are!” Frye jumped up. She was paying attention to the conversation now. “The Splatlands are our turf!”

“You think you can waltz in here and try stealing our spotlight? Think again, greenie!” Shiver pointed at Acht accusingly. 

Four shot her a look that said “If you call them that again I will make you feel tremendous pain.” 

“Ay ay ay. (Guys let’s not make this a big thing.)” Big Man tried desperately to calm his bandmates.

“Oh what, so that you can abandon us and do a collab with them too?” Frye shifted her rage to the manta ray.

“Ay ay! (No that’s not what I meant!)”

Acht tried to defuse the situation. “Relax, I’m planning on focusing on Inkopolis Square anyway. I might play a few shows in Splatsville but—”

“Oh good luck with that,” Shiver interrupted. She was very clearly threatening Acht’s shows. Before anyone could try to calm them down further, Shiver and Frye stomped out of the apartment, dragging Big Man behind them.

“They’re going to be a problem.” Four placed a hand on Acht’s shoulder.

“We’ll figure that out when we get there.” Acht smiled down at Four, who quickly stood up on their tip toes to leave a kiss on Acht’s lips.

Captain sighed. Agent 4 did seem happy with Acht, but she couldn’t take any chances. When Tartar had been controlling her, there was nothing she could do to resist it. Would a couple strings of code really be enough to restore Acht’s mind? How could she be so sure that they weren’t still loyal to Tartar’s cause?

“We’ll let them have their fun. As worried as I am about that sanitized octoling, I trust Four’s judgement.” Marie appeared over Captain’s shoulder, yet again knowing exactly what she was thinking.

“Unfortunately, you’re right,” she heaved. “I don’t like the idea of keeping a sanitized octoling around, but Eight seems fine with it and he has more experience with those things than I do. I trust Four. If they’re happy, that’s all that matters.”

just had a dream where there was a licensed, lost-in-translation, poorly researched, dubiously canon splatoon musical made by a small company wanting to bank off of the success of splatoon.

it was an isekai of sorts where two guys got teleported to the far future into squid times (somewhere pre-turf war).

for some reason one of the guys was naked and went on a rampage singing and chasing an octarian in what i can only describe as visceral lust, before being shot down point-blank with a shotgun by AMMOSES FUCKING SHELLENDORF.... ammoses is real for that tbh

then the other guy goes to the inkling camp and meets craig cuttlefish. i woke up before anything else interesting happened.

Here are some old reference sheets for my Agent 4 (Coral) and my New Agent 3 (Nixie), respectively.

LORE DUMP INCOMING UNDER THE CUT:

In short, Coral and Nixie Gill are sisters who were raised in a small harbor town roughly an hour away from the Greater Inkopolis area by their parents (their dad runs a local salvaging company and their mom is a historian who commutes to Shellendorf Institute a few times per month for her job). Coral moved to Inkopolis Square at age 14 to transfer to a different school, and 5 years later Nixie convinced Coral (along with Coral’s roommate, Lila) to move with her to Splatsville as she needed a reliable roommate for her mom to allow her to live there (only for Nixie to get recruited into the NSS as New Agent 3, get challenged to a fight to the death by Deep Cut, and get sent to space all within the first month after the move).

Coral is a bit of a nerd who was quite shy and out of touch with most of the latest music trends when she moved to Inkopolis Square, but she became more sociable and broadened her tastes in music after she became Agent 4 thanks to Marie. She is still usually the last to hear about the absolute newest bands, though.

Nixie, on the other hand, is an extroverted inkling (with some of that extroversion coming off as sass) who developed a desire to find and learn about the history of old abandoned scrap (and ancient relics in general) due to her dad showing her some unearthed items from his salvaging missions. She is enamored by the chaos of the Splatlands, but tends to take her agent work quite seriously, especially during her first few weeks as an agent.

Humans go extinct

Great turf war

Cuttlefish used to side with the octarians, but he soon teamed up with the other inklings after he discovered of the creation of the great octo weapons.

Cuttlefish becomes a hypocrite by helping Ammoses Shellendorf (shelldon’s grandfather) create inkling weapons of mass destruction.

The great turf war ends in inkling victory

Some octolings sided with the inklings and vice versa. The octos with the inklings were sent to a land at the other side of the world and the inklings with the octos were taken in by the other inklings and conditioned to forget about their time in the octarian army

Callie and Marie are both 1/8th and 1/16th octarian respectively, they’re also half cuttlefish, a subspecies of inklings. They’re aware of their heritage, curtesy of Cuttlefish, who while still a dick to most octarians because of the war, has still respect for octarian culture from when he was “friends” with Octavio

86 years after the great turf war an inkling couple has a child, they raise them for about 2 years, but at one point they can’t raise them anymore, so they leave them near octo valley, hoping that someone will be able to raise them, Octavio ends up finding the kid on a stroll through the valley in his octoling form, he takes the kid in and raises them.

By age 5 the inkling child, now named Tint, has gotten past Marina’s level (currently at age 9), an achievement never reached before by any octoling nor inkling.

Around this age, Tint was being recognized by the octarians as the crown prince, even if he was an Inkling. He worked with Marina at some point as well.

By age 9, Tint’s designing upgrades for the great octoweapons, but focuses most of his time helping Octavio design his Octobot so the octarians can get more electricity

Tint helps Turquoise October with some of their songs.

Tint is assigned a mission by age 13, when he reaches age 14, he’ll infiltrate inkling territory and keep an eye open for the squidbeak splatoon Cuttlefish seemed to have re-made.

Splatoon 1 - before Splatoon 2:

Octavio is defeated right before his 14th birthday, the birthday he’d become a fully-fledged inkling, join the octarian army fight training, be able to start his mission, and be able to participate in inkling turf wars. He’s comforted by the other octarians in Octo Valley, but goes on to try and achieve his mission

Marina leaves the octarians seeking a music career with the Inklings, Tint doesn’t appreciate the double slap of emotional damage that day.

Tint speaks broken inklish with a semi-thick octarian accent, but people don’t really notice

He joins the other inklings in Inkopolis plaza and stumbles across Knitted and Cap, who happen to be at the plaza that moment. They ask if he wants to join them for a turf war, since he seems new, he agrees and has a blast in turf war. He thinks it’s a replacement for traditional Octarian training.

He gets an apartment with the money that he was given to fit in with inkling society by the octarians not so long ago, and that night he gets a message from his secret mic and speaker in his headgear glasses that are directly to Octavio. He tells him happy birthday, apologized for not being able to be there in person, and that he’s stuck in a snow globe for now, but to not come to rescue him, because he’s already got a plan to get out. Tint thanks him, tells him about how the mission is going smoothly, and wishes him good luck.

Tint is in a 3-person team, and they’re able to surprisingly win many rounds

Tint uses the Octobrush, one of the only inkling weapons the Octarians use as well

Around a year passes with Tint becoming decent friends with Knitted and Cap. Marina also leaves the octarians before this time skip.

Tint ends up finding Agent 3 in a round (they were wearing the hero runners and was able to beat them in a turf war, after telling Octavio the news, he realized that the squidbeak wasn’t currently looking for members because they already had enough, he calls Octavio to tell him this realization, Octavio tells him he’s nearly free and to head to Octo canyon so he can see them again.

Cuttlefish and Agent 3 go missing

Callie helps Octavio break out of the snow globe in exchange for living with the octarians to take a break from life in Inkopolis (and to learn a little about her heritage, but that’s a secret).

Octavio reunites with his son, not really caring about showing weakness or his octoling form in front of Callie, because after a year of being away from his son, he’s finally able to see him in person again

Callie realizes that maybe putting Octavio in a snow globe was a little cruel, and takes a mental note of that

Tint introduces themselves to Callie, and shows her around Octo Canyon, he also mentions if she ever wants to produce any music, Turquoise October (the main octarian band) would be happy to have her as vocals.

Tint helps Callie with learning octarian language, octarian culture, and such.

After a while Tint reveals to Callie that he’s an Inkling himself, and that even if a small minority of octolings wouldn’t welcome her into octoling society, if he was able to fit in, she can as well.

Tint helps her write “girl from Inkopolis”

Callie volunteers to be a test on the octoshades, Tint and Octavio let her use them, but they find that the effects aren’t reversing.

Splatoon 2 – before Splatoon 3:

Octavio is trying to find a way to break the mind control so he can return Callie and not have to fight the squidbeak again, and Tint is working on stealing the Zapfish by himself to get enough power to rewire the shades

The squidbeak immediately try and defeat the octarians again and get their Zapfish back, Tint was gone during the final fight. He regrets ever leaving that day

When Callie is brought back, she only wanted to give the Zapfish back to the Inklings and protested against Octavio being put in the snow globe again, but wasn’t able to convince Marie or Agent 4

She talks with Octavio when everyone’s asleep and helps him know about how Tint has been doing in turf wars.

The octo expansion happens, afterwards, Zap and Smile leave the octarians and end up meeting Tint, after they lie about being on a mission, they all form a turf war team with Knitted and Cap.

Smile meets Bucket when they’re walking around the plaza

Smile convinced Zap to join them for ranked battle, Bucket invites a friend so their team can be finished, they all hit X rank within just a few weeks, but in one battle against another team, they’re all banned from ranked battle for a decade, Smile lost their temper, Zap may have hacked into the game mode, Bucket tried to bribe Judd and threw a suction bomb too hard at the opposing team, and Bucket’s friend pushed them all to their limits, they’re all still friends but they don’t like to remember the ranked battle incident.

Smile and Zap part ways with Bucket after they have to go to a rich person meeting.

During the squid vs octopus splatfest, Tint, knitted, and Smile vote octopus, Bucket, Zap, and Cap vote squid. Tint ends up being in the leaderboards for the splatfest, reaching the #1 spot, he’s recognized by a lot of the octolings in the splatfest, and a majority of them end up respecting Tint’s passion, but he was obsessive over this particular splatfest. (Bucket is still doing rich person thing)

During the final splatfest (the splatocalypse), Tint, Cap, and Bucket chose chaos, Zap, Smile, and Knitted chose order. Tint wants chaos because Octavio would have chosen that side (and Callie showed support for chaos on the news), Zap and Smile chose order because old habits die hard, they were raised to be orderly and it feels more natural, Cap and Bucket chose chaos because they think it’d make for a world that’s more fun, Knitted chose order because they want things to stay the same with the team. (Bucket is still doing rich people things)

After chaos wins Bucket moves to Splatsville to help the city grow, they don’t bother building a house for themselves (this comes back to bite them later)

Tint comes up with a headgear design (inspired by splatoon 1’s octoling goggles) and pitches it to a clothing brand, they think the idea is genius and start manufacturing it, Tint makes a lot of money for making fresh clothes, and he makes a replica of the gear with a camera, mic and speaker built in, directly connected to Octavio.

After Splatsville becomes the city of chaos we know and love, The group moves to Splatsville.

Splatoon 3 – before Splatoon 4:

Zap finds little buddy on the side of the road, since they’ve never done a salmon run shift, they pick him up and give him a pineapple looking haircut

Bucket joins the team when they re-meet with Smile and Zap. The team is officially called “Team Rainbow”

Smile and Zap are recruited into the squidbeak splatoon as agents 6 and 5, since agents 3 and 5 are awkward names.

Tint helps Octavio escape the snow globe and build the new octobot king just in time to arrive and fight agents 5 and 6, who are really fuckin scared because:  holy shit that’s DJ Octavio

Zap, Smile, Cuttlefish, and DJ Octavio are dragged to Alterna by the fuzzy ooze, and hero mode goes as normal, Zap and Smile are stuck in Alterna and message the rest of the team about their absence.

Tint is worried sick about Octavio, the rest of the team doesn’t know why their friend is so down, and Tint can’t answer that question without “failing the mission” so he takes out his frustrations in turf wars.

Tint starts to become one of the top splatters in the leaderboards, eventually switching to the octobrush to get even more splats, he doesn’t lash out against his team, but his unusually splat count is raising questions within the team, who think he’s worried about how Smile and Zap are doing/where they are.

Hero mode goes basically the same, but Zap and Smile are able to return twice as fast by doing levels individually and at the same time.

Octavio uses the blueprints that Tint made for the octobot king he wasn’t able to complete and used parts from Alterna to repair and upgrade the robot,

During the fight with Mr. Grizz, Zap is the one to control the octobot king, while Smile splatted all fuzzy octarians that attacked them. The teamwork turned useful when Mr. Grizz used twice the normal amount of fuzzy octarians as planned

After defeating Mr. Grizz, the two head back to Splatsville, and Octavio contacts Tint, telling him his mission is over and he can come back home.

After Zap and Smile arrive, Tint gets the message from Octavio and leaves the group, Zap, Knitted, Cap, and Smile end up arguing amongst themselves about Tint and split the team. Smile and Knitted decide to stick with each other, while Zap and Cap stick together as well.

Bucket is a bystander in the fight and witnesses the team break up. They return back to their parent’s house to sulk, but decides that the team split up for a stupid reason and they’re gonna get the team back together
