"The Tell-Tale Heart"

Okay so I want to preface this that I have not read much Edgar Allen Poe so I will be missing those layers in my perspective, but anyways something that really struck me in "The Tell-Tale Heart" episode of The Fall of The House of Usher was the moments after Victorine throws the book end at Ali.

Before this, we're presented with this version of Victorine who may be stressed and pressured but ultimately does not actively appear to be amoral. She's just being put in a bad position by her shit father; she wants to do good and develop a life-saving medical device, and she just has to cut corners to stay afloat. It's only Camille who seems convinced Victorine is some awful person.

Then, the bookend. Another cut corner. Instead of talking things out with Ali or being patient, she acts impulsively and immediately to stop the problem. It's just like the first time she dosed the chimpanzee with epinephrine during surgery in a panic when she realized the device wasn't working. She hits Ali in the head and, on realizing the severity of her actions, runs over to her.

Ali is bleeding out on the floor, her body writhing horribly and she lets out these awful choked noises. Victorine goes to her and seems immediately horrified and brokenhearted. Then, the security guard checks in through the door. The guard is concerned over the scuffling noises overheard.

And Victorine fucking says to him, "Have you never heard a woman getting eaten out before?"

Her girlfriend is dying by her hand, and she pretends the sounds of her dying are the noises of sexual pleasure. This to me is the reveal, this is when the audience truly sees that Victorine does not have and never had a heart. The love she's shown, for her passion, her girlfriend, her device, is nothing more than mistaken greed. It's a mechanical heartbeat, it sounds almost like a heartbeat, but it's a pale imitation to anyone who pays attention. And like with Ali's corpse, the mechanical heart of Victorine is just keeping a soulless body alive.

The Fall of the House of Usher structurally represents the family itself: it begins with the announcement of the deaths of all the children. The children are dead from the beginning of the show. And as Annabel points out, the children in the story were dead from the start, killed by greed and wealth. And then we learn that they were literally dead, as Roderick and Madeline had already sold their lives for wealth before they were even born. We're not seeing the family die, we're seeing the final moments of corpses decomposing. We're seeing the dilapidated house finally collapse. The Fall of the House of Usher is not about death, it's about the walking dead, like the visions of Roderick. A family kept alive with a mechanical device just going through the motions.

toonimal aka ezra orena is a tumblr user who also ran a website for "big three" paraphiles (pedo/necro/zoo), including those who are pro-contact and including minors. this obviously led to a bunch of pedophiles sexually engaging with minors and exchanging abuse material.

ezra was already known for being pro-contact in some spaces and had been called out for it. ezra was thus banned on aethy, which is an 18+ proship website, i assume due to the following rules:

also despite this, when this doc dropped, some people targeted and doxxed a completely unrelated moderator of aethy for something they had no involvement in.

chris argent is compelling to me because he's not really that good of a person. he has deluded himself into thinking he is.

kate was gerard's golden child because kate was full tilt sociopathic and enjoyed killing. chris was the lesser of the two in gerard's eyes. we know that while chris did gerard's biding he hadn't been in contact with allison since she was three years old at the time of kate's "death". that tells you chris knew his father's influence was dangerous and corrupting. yet he still let it happen and watched allison be manipulated by his father and become like kate.

three children ended up in his murder and torture basement and the only one i can see him not fully knowing about is stiles because that was gerard's little game. he knew about erica and boyd, he knew what was being done to them and he allowed it. they hadn't done anything to anyone and again they were children. the same age as his daughter. her own classmates. trussed up in his basement.

his intimidates stiles, scott, jackson and derek more than once. people who hadn't done anything wrong. scott, jackson and stiles are all children.

chris also knew full well who and what kate was. he was in denial about it and ignored it. chris isn't a stupid man and i thought it was pretty clear throughout season 1 he had suspicions about kate so he's not even surprised when confronted about it code breaker. he's just disappointed.

he clings to the code because it gives him cover. it gives him a convenient excuse. he can wrap himself up in the code and declare himself a good hunter, not like the others, not like his father and sister when he is. the code is his self-delusion.

he changes because allison died and his code becomes the memory of his daughter. his shitty family and his lack of backbone led down a path that eventually led to her death.

yes allison's decision that night was her own but it was also reckless. why was the archer on the ground? why wasn't she high up like she'd been wise enough to do in frayed or in alpha pact? allison was desperate not only to save lydia but also to prove herself good and make up for her mistakes.

Oh my god, finally! I've been wanting to post here for a few days.

I'm the author of that infamous fanfic. And I wanted to say, unrelated to Hazbin, that the documentary and Drake's story, coupled with his new music video "I Kinda Relate" is the most heartbreaking and empowering thing I've ever seen. I bawled my eyes out the entire day that I found it.

In the first 28 seconds, Drake heavily implies, but doesn't show, his abuse that he suffered at the hands of his rapist, Brian Peck (who also was penpals with none other than John Wayne Gacy.)

I wanted to do nothing but hug that poor little boy, and to hug the man he is now. I want to tell him that he's beautiful and strong and brave for coming out. Male CSA victims rarely ever do. Unfortunately, they have no leads, except for the testimony of Luther Lee Boggs—a serial killer Mulder put behind bars years ago—who is claiming to have psychic knowledge that will lead them to the missing children. In some serious turning of the tables, Mulder is skeptical of Boggs' claims, whereas Scully—whose father just died, and who is desperate for just one more message from him to know that they didn't part on bad terms—finds herself believing Boggs, much to her chagrin. After Mulder is shot, Scully is on her own to work with Boggs, leading to some sexy fucking "Silence of the Lambs" -esque scenes that make this episode not just a top tier s1 episode, but a top tier episode of all time. Mulder tears up his New York Knicks shirt (he probably has like seventeen tho, so it's okay), Scully is scared to believe, and Brad Dourif puts his entire goddamn pussy into playing Luther Boggs. A+++, fam.

Does someone die in the cold open: Yes! But it wasn't a crime. Scully gets the dreaded "middle of the night phone call" and learns that her father just died. (Even tho she just saw him sitting in her armchair across the room. Say what???) 

Does Mulder present a slideshow: No. 

Does the evidence survive the investigation: This is another where it depends on what you mean by evidence. Evidence of the actual, literal crime? Yes, that actually worked out like how normal police work is meant to go if you're good at your job. Evidence of Boggs' psychic abilities, however? Unfortunately, proof of those went with him to the gas chamber. 

Whodunit: Lucas Henry, who is either Boggs' accomplice, or somebody Boggs keeps having psychic visions of. It's up to you to decide.

Convictions: Lucas Henry would have been convicted if he hadn't crashed through several floors and fell on his face directly onto some concrete, so we'll give it to 'em.

Did they solve it: While the supernatural element remains a mystery, the crime itself is solved. This one is a resounding yes!

AND ALSO when we were stuck on a backwater scrap heap with everything gone to shit & mulligan trying desperately to relapse into alcoholism, all of the other employees and stuff were absolutely terrified and refused to give him any sort of booze and he thought that Julio had talked to them (bc he's the ships surgeon and new to the crew and a huge bitch a real stickler) but NO we find out later that it was JACK who went around threatening people in order to keep mulligan safe and sober <3

Ooo, okay where do I start...first! The Adiels are all followers of Daz!

Now— Her parents.

They've been unnamed for a while now, I was planning to keep it this way because Korey literally forgot their names. But, eh, oh well.

-Korey's mother is Achara Hathai, she's of Thai descent, and comes from a very, very strict family with a lot of traditions and a lot of kids. She's the 5th daughter of 6, barely getting any care by her own parents. She was married off the day she turned 18 years old to Korey's dad, Haneul Adiel.

-Haneul Adiel wasn't a caring man either, but a spoiled one. Raised by loving yet somewhat entitled parents with little punishment for his actions. He's of Korean descent, his parents were the ones who mostly took care of Korey as a kid. He was married to 18 year old Achara when he was about 24 years old.

Achara and Haneul's marriage was a loveless one, only conceiving children to keep the family line going. They both had no respect for each other, getting into arguments almost every day.

Now! To Korey's brothers!

-Esra 'Hathai' Adiel.

The oldest child of the family at 24 years old. Raised just like his parents were, with barely any love at all. Haneul not caring for his existence, Achara too young to care for a child. Raised with mostly neglect, but he was noticed enough to be emotionally abused by his father, forced to do his bidding till he snapped out of it when he turned 17 years old, running away from home, and visiting in secret to make sure his younger siblings are okay.

Esra met Diana Claire at 20 years old, her at 19 years old. A kind deaf woman with a sad past, who was raised as an orphan after her parents abandoned her with her uncle and aunt who'd often abuse her both mentally and sexually. Running away from her adoptive home at 16 years old. Getting taken in by a family of fox halfbloods who were living in the sanctuary.

Back to Esra and Diana— they'd both fallen for each other at first sight, but only started to date a year after meeting, marrying each other almost 2 years after. Even adopting a baby a year in their marriage, they named her Ayla.

Esra actually has a pretty big potential to be a mage, and that's his goal, enrolling into a school for magic users. His affinities are crystal and light!

-Korey 'Hathai' Adiel.

Korey is the middle child at 19 years old. She was born with prosopagnosia, a condition where you have difficulty recognising people's faces. This freaked her out, a LOT. making her attempts for her parents attention more desperate so they could look at her, so she could see their faces again. Haneul, Korey's father, was very aware of this condition of hers, and would taunt her by forcing her mother and him to not look at her once. Resulting in Korey purposefully hurting herself, putting herself in severe danger to get their attention, but nothing worked.

At 12 years old. Korey accidentally killed 2 boys who were 2 years older than her at the time, during a mania induced episode. The boys were bullying and hitting her, saying some pretty fucked up stuff, it was until one of the boys reached for her clothes was when snapped. Punching the boy off of her, before starting to slam his head on a rock over and over. The other boy, too scared to intervene, but before he could run away, she ended up throwing a pretty hefty rock at his head. Killing both of them, and severely mentally scarring her. Thankfully for Korey, the murder wasn't pointed at her, but a violent halfblood who was roaming the woods. But still, even to this day the guilt still eats her from the inside.

Has very bad body dysmorphia, almost always refusing to look at her reflection, only looking when it's necessary. Has some magic potential, but it's not as big as her brother. She ued to have a best friend named Jay! They were oh so close, they might've even had a crush on each other, but even if they did, they wouldn't have reached a relationship as Jay was brutally killed by a halfblood, getting their guts ripped out as Korey could only helplessly watch. After it was done with Jay, Korey was also attacked by it, slitting her neck with its claws. But thankfully, was saved by a hunter nearby. Korey was about 13-14 at the time. It was also when she decided to join the hunters.

She was too hyperactive for the other village, sometimes insensitive by accident due to her disorders, leading her to be somewhat ignored by the village people. Fueling her fear of being ignored and forgotten.

-Noah 'Hathai' Adiel.

The youngest of the Adiels at 14 years old. To his siblings, Noah was practically the golden child despite only being treated normally, calling him that because they never got any care or acknowledgment.

Noah was..treated somewhat normally? It certainly wasn't as bad as the treatment his siblings got. He was actually born with synesthesia, an example is  you hear music, but you see shapes, or you hear a word or a name and instantly see a color. He's a very, very shy kid with barely any friends. Too anxious to approach anyone.

Despite his anxiety demeanor, he can be brave when he needs to be. After all, you aren't a true Adiel without a sense of bravery in you.

He's very clever for his age, and looks up to his siblings a lot, especially his sister. As they were both practically his teachers when it came to life. Korey would teach him to be less anxious, basic first aid, and how to defend himself. While Esra would teach him about more emotional feelings, basic education, and arts!

You can mostly always find him with his friend Everlynn and the other baby bugs! Or with one of his siblings goofing around the village.

so. we'll start from the beginning and work our way to The Fire:

so. of course we've gotta start with them Experimenting With Their Sexualities. because that's where it all started technically. sure, there were...feelings before, but y'know.

so y'know like that one meme of the two people lying in bed, but one is just chilling and smoking, while the other one looks like they're questioning their entire life up until this point? that was Henry and Will after they [REDACTED]. Henry's the chill guy, William is the guy who's questioning his life choices.

while Henry still has some Feelings for Will, he leaves the situation with more knowledge of himself (he is Pansexual) and is able to be normal about his still lingering feelings for his roommate. William, on the other hand, Also learned about himself (he's Bisexual) and is also being Normal about those Feelings (< he is not, in fact, normal about it).

they both go about their lives, getting married, having children, running their business together, everything's normal.

...well, except for the fact that William still clearly loved him and could Not be normal about that fact. in the 70s. but y'know.

then Claire dies...and things change. and not for the better.

Henry can tell that whatever Will's doing, it's hurting the kids. not physically, though: he never sees bruises or any signs of anything physical. not yelling at them either. all he knows is that whatever William's doing, it's bad.

but he doesn't really know what to do about it. William would get pissed off and deny any implication that he was hurting his children. but Henry also can't take Will's kids away from him, that would likely only make things worse, considering that the man just lost his fucking wife.

he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. the best he can do is try to comfort William and be a shoulder to cry on for the kids. it's why he never asks Mike if William allowed him to come over and stay the night; the answer is usually a no.

and...well, besides all of that, William practically clings to Henry, like he's scared he'll lose him too. Henry just assumes that it's anxiety born out of grief and not anything serious (Annabeth screaming into a pillow in the background).

when Anna and him finally divorce, William's behavior gets more...noticeable. like, enough so that Henry can't deny it anymore. but it's not like Henry can really do much to reciprocate these feelings (it is. the 80s).

Liz dies, and William decides that the Totally Normal response is to murder Henry's daughter. yep bestie, this isn't going to fuck up your relationship with Henry at all when he finds out (sarcasm).

well would you look at that, Henry Doesn't Seem To Like The Child Murder, William!! Especially When One Of Them Is His Own Kid!!

William, who has just kinda lost it a little at this point, doesn't fully get why Henry hates him so bad. sure, he killed Charlotte...but she was still here, technically!! she was even in a form he could talk to her in!!

we can now move onto Springtrap Era "Willry" (aka William is feral now, and Henry still hates him).

William becomes obsessed with this idea of "reuniting" his family in death. and that includes Sammy and Henry.

he hurts Michael when he comes to work at Fredbear's as a security guard, but it's not a deadly injury. Mike books it out of there and locks the door before William can get to him, but...it didn't just scar him physically. it scarred him mentally, too.

and Henry was fucking PISSED when he found out.

Fnaf 3 rolls around. look, we've heard the whole thing already of "Springtrap/Afton toying around with the player," i don't feel like i need to reiterate that here. but like...William's plan after getting to Sammy wasn't to kill him. not yet, anyway. it was to use him as a lure to get Henry to come to him. then he'd kill two birds with one stone. literally.

of course, that didn't work out...but the first fire clearly didn't kill him. he basically stalked everyone he once knew for two fucking years, including Henry. like, he wakes up in the morning, gets a cup of coffee, and then sees Springtrap staring at him through a window. and that's just kinda what his life was like between Fnaf 3 and 6.

then we get to Fire #2. and Henry stays behind as Michael runs.

the best way i can describe what happened afterward is a mix of mauling and what was basically a slow, torturous death. ending with William ripping the fucker's heart out.

even in the afterlife, William still calls out for Henry to help him. he also thinks Henry is trying to help HIM by trying to get Cassidy to move on. Henry's doing it more for Cassidy's sake than William's.

oh, that would actually be pretty cool. like we know daniel never finished the book he was writing in 85, from that one trailer. the part where they mention alice and daniel says something about never finishing the book and leaving without paying the bill. that could have been the book he was writing! i mean, probably a straight (and maybe even white) washed version of it, since it was 80s. and daniel seems to struggle with his sexuality. unless he was writing under a pseudonym, which is what he did when he wrote iwtv in the books. and

That's still a month with no income, so the only she'd have is what's left in her and daniel's joint account, bc that's a goddamn crazy thing that married couple's do, like to this day. and daniel is drug addict, that bank account is probably in the red. and alice is probably smart if daniel falls for her, in the books his two relationships are armand and marius. armand is extremely clever. but also a manipulative bastard. marius is basically a fucking philosopher. and also a manipulative bastard. so my theory is alice is also probably smart, and at least a little bit of a bastard. so that girl definitely has a run fund.

anyway, what i'm saying is alice could have reasonably had enough money to float by a month or two hidden away, but daniel wouldn't know about it anyway. so from his point of view he'd be leaving his kids with zero income for at least a month. so he couldn't be a dick and do that, he'd have to stay until at least she could go back to work.

but of course he could always leave before she has the baby, like as soon as he fucking finds out. but there's a 50/50 chance she's on his insurance because sometimes it's better to be on your spouses insurance than use your own. so he could hypothetically leave his pregnant wife without access to medical care.

maybe he decides to try to 'do the right thing' and stay with alice until she's able to make it by herself. hell, maybe he decides to stay long term bc he decides he wants to be a good father and not abandon his kids.

I'll start by making this completely clear: First, I'm still friends with Rookie, Ell, Dash, and Roxy. That won't be changing any time soon. Second, I wasn't on tumblr when a lot of these things happened, but despite this, there is proof of majority of the things I will talk about.

I've heard from both sides about the whole thing. I'll start with what I saw about J before the "accusations" came out and tell you what I thought about it.

When I found out he romanticizes/is into abuse and sexual assault, I thought it was really weird. I normally don't care too much what people are into but idk,, that was thin ice.

I couldn't ignore him being into loli/shota because (as was said before) it literally normalizes people who look like children being in sexual situations, which is absolutely disgusting to me. I honestly thought everyone was against it, so I'm shocked by the current response to that.

It completely rubbed me the wrong way and felt very distasteful when J called a cultural food disgusting. I can understand being grossed out by something, but I think it was unnecessary to post about it.

So as you can probably tell, I had a not so good opinion of J from before everything. Now, about the accusations, I'll tell you my thoughts on that itself and the responses I guess.

Starting from the accusations itself, I think it had a good base, just,, drastic wording ? Like rather than saying pedophile, lolicon/shotacon is a much better descriptor. I can't speak to the homophobia, transphobia, or the insult accusations, but everything else does have proof behind it.

As for the response, I found it a little weird how there were no apologies for the things he admitted he was wrong about. For example, in the second point, he literally says the slur again and doesn't apologize for saying it. Didn't apologize for misgendering Rookie either.

There are more things I didn't mention, but I'm tired of typing. I forgot who, but I saw someone say every one of those accusations was either false or turned around, which is,,, not true. I think both sides of this argument could've done things better, but I am completely shocked by the amount of hostility from the other side.

I was called immature for blocking people who make me uncomfortable. All of us are suddenly toxic and manipulative. I was called gross for supporting my friend and literally told I deserve to die. Even when Dash tried to defend herself again the random hate, she was met with such rude words in return. The only bit of an apology I got for this was deleted two seconds after being posted.

And people are bringing up how this affected them mentally, but I think they should consider how we're also being affected. I don't talk about it, but this shit sets off my anxiety so fucking bad, and being told you deserve to die isn't really encouraging as someone who's severely suicidal. This whole time, I've only come to people with respect for you guys as humans at the very least. I just don't find it fair to be talked to in such disrespectful ways, literally behind my back.

- My dad did expect me to be under his authority until I was 18. He did expect me to do what he said, but he was reasonable and honestly took feedback more than other adults in my family

- I did have uncles that insisted I was under my father, then husband's authority and I shouldn't have left my dad's house until I was married or living with other family that could watch me. One uncle even said SA victims are at fault for not being under their father's watch.

- I was never a part of IBLP or their groups. We had groups, trainings, VBS and ministries, but never anything as intense of these. I mostly remember the youth teacher who said if your parents threaten to beat the hell out of you that's a good thing because they're beating a demonic spirit out of you and the girls' group pastor who told us oral causes acne

- HOLY SHIT THE TAMPONS THING

- I didn't have the exact same experience but was told I couldn't even use the extra small teen tampons because I "wasn't ready yet" and I was too scared to ever try. It's wild how little things like that stay rooted in your brain

- "So they took my devil sticks"

- "Shame was a tool that really kept all of us in line"

- The IBLP training centers remind me a lot of the stories from troubled youth camps. Abused children often lash out. They can feel that this stuff is wrong, but they get punished for reacting and that's how all of this stuff functions. It's all "breaking their will"

- You do a bad thing so you get spanked and you cry or try to defend yourself and that just leads to more spankings or worse

- David Fucking Green. I should've known he was connected to them.

- I knew a lot of cops grew up with these ideas, but didn't realize they literally went to police academies and prisons and places like that. They insist that the voice of authority itself should lead to compliance when that's not how things work.

- A kid will cry when spanked. They are afraid. A person will struggle if you hold them down. They are afraid. A person will panic when threatened with violence. They are afraid

- It's essentially training a person to be in a constant state of freeze or fawn. I used to stay in a constant state of flight or fawn. I either hid or fawned to authority

- I understand that appealing to their rigid authority means the show can keep going and TLC keeps making money, but holy shit did TLC enable serious financial abuse

- I know this isn't the first time, but I didn't realize Jill never saw a cent. I assumed they were given a small allowance or just enough money for what they needed like children

- This episode explains Gothard and his brother's widespread and rampant sexual abuse. If you do watch the series, this section is terrible to sit through

- I talked before about keeping drama in the family, but this episode really goes into it and how both IBLP and TLC did that.

- The victims got to speak about it and the line of thinking that lead to this. It's a cult. It's all brainwashing and these parents are convinced it's the easiest way to keep their kids safe. They're convinced the world is after them as christians and they will be killed for it if you don't raise them this way

- "Blonde girls get picked" reminded me of just how little autonomy I and a lot of these girls had even over our hair. When I got my first haircut, it was by a lady who went to our church and she called my dad to make sure he approved before she'd touch my hair because she didn't believe me when I said he said I was old enough to be in charge of my own hair now

- The women were not allowed to speak out and even if they did, they had no words to do it. You don't have autonomy, you're an extension of your father. I've heard horror stories of my aunts and great aunts thinking hold hands would get you pregnant or that they were dying when they had their period

- I fortunately never experienced any overt sexual abuse like in this documentary

- I'd also seen the law of crying out mentioned by others, but never explicitly heard/saw it myself. It was implied by the idea that you're under your father's authority and watch so if you're where you're supposed to be, you'd cry out and he'd rescue you, but never said explicitly

- The entire section about Recovering Grace is hard to say anything about. It also talks about the parallel between Bil Gothard and Josh Duggar as a large and small scale version of each other. It is why there is a trigger warning

- "It's been shined up and put on TLC"

- Families like the Duggars are everywhere in the US, they just aren't on TV

- This episode introduces Josh's more recent crimes and more current fundamentalist influencers like Paul and Morgan
