Gus and Shawn working on weird and silly cases together is giving me life tbh. I love this weird bi dude and his best friend being silly. The episodes where Gus is like "no, I'm not going on this silly adventure" and then immediately agrees the second he hears it involves something he's interested in (I loved S1.E5 - the wedding ring episode - bcs him hearing the case involved a safe was all he needed to agree to help with the case).

You want to watch meaningful male friendships? Go watch Psych, a show that portrays a best friendship with no romantic or sexual elements and does so quite beautifully.

Go watch Shawn and Gus and then compare them to Buck and Eddie.

I can respect the Tevan shippers who prefer Tommy over Eddie. That’s a matter of opinion. What is a matter of fact is the queer, homoerotic subtext that has been injected into this show between Buck and Eddie.

Hi time to nominate the car racing episode of Psych as the most bisexual Shawn Spencer ep of all time.

Shawn wanted Tommy to pin him to a wall and kiss his brains out. I think Tommy also wanted this. The paper clip wallet chain? The constant heart eyes? The way he said his own name when Tommy asked for it? The fact that Tommy literally asks Shawn to run away with him at the end??

Obviously Tommy threatening Gus at the end was the main reason it didn’t work out. (And Shawn’s whole friendship vs adrenaline speech? Screaming in qpr/aro/relationship anarchy anyway)

But, if he recounts this story later, he will say that of course he didn’t drag Tommy to the nearest motel room! He is a consummate professional!

If we believe in bi Shawn Spencer (which ofc we do) then we too have to believe in bi Burton Guster.

Why? You may ask; because Shawn does not just know he’s bi. That’s a realisation for later :)

Why does he not know that he’s bi? Well because Gus also does not know that he is bi.

Now imagine small Gus and Shawn talking:

Alas they never questioned it and Shawn never had a realisation cuz if Gus thinks the same it must be a “normal” thing. (Normal in this situation a cis straight thinking that ofc isn’t right but yknow what I mean)

It’s not that Shawn isn’t aware of homosexuality etc but he just thinks that his “attraction” to men isn’t a sexual or romantic one cuz he and Gus feel same on the matter and as long as he doesn’t know that Gus is bi he also won’t know that he’s bi.

Also they’re both neurodivergent which at that time is a whole nother thing.
