i agree with the people pointing out the racism in DD. i don't think gerard/shaun/becky had bad intentions, but they probably never thought about it and just figured that japanese aesthetics look cool without considering the implications. then the comics made it worse by turning the director into a generic sexualized evil lady with no backstory. honestly the first series pretty much sucked all the fun out of DD in general. national anthem was flawed, but at least it had some joy in it.
