Karen Huger Has Been Charged with DUI!

On March the 20th, reports were saying that Karen Huger had wrecked her car (a 2017 Maserati) and has now been charged with DUI along with multiple traffic violations.

While the police report speaks of negligent driving and endangerment of life, person and property, Karen is thankful to be alive.

In a statement to TMZ who first reported on the incident, she said:

“Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during this very frightening experience. I am still in shock from last night's incident, but grateful to be alive today. With the passing of my Beloved Mother, Grief comes and goes in waves, and with Mother's Day approaching it has felt more like a tsunami.”

Karen lost her parents in season 3 and she has always talked about how difficult it was to lose her mother, especially.

She continued her explanation in her statement to TMZ:

“I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider, and then a tree. I'm hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive!”

She is also facing a driving while influenced by alcohol charge.

Karen doesn’t mention that part in her statement, but she admitted that she was driving under emotional distress and was crying.

The women on the show have always made snide comments about Karen’s drinking, and how suspicious it is that she’s never drinking in front of cameras anymore.

Especially Ashley Darby and Robyn Dixon have been very vocal about Karen’s choice to not drink in front of the cameras.

But the reports spoke of a dramatic incident. The car was allegedly so damaged that it had to be towed away from the scene.

Just like with Shannon Beador on RHOC, they had just filmed the reunion for season 8 when Karen had her DUI, so there will be no mentioning of this incident there.

However, unlike the situation with Shannon, there’s no history with heavily drinking or emotional distress with Karen, that we know of.

It therefore feels like out of character with Karen, while it seemed like it was doomed to happen with Shannon.

Tamra Judge is the real villain, not Heather.
