Revenge
(Warnings: There’s going to be hints at a topic of SA, that’s the biggest warning I think)
A/N: SA, as I’m sure many of you know what that stands for, comes in many forms, unfortunately. I might use a few cringy words but I want to draw attention to this so bear with me; SA is not just penetration. It is any sexually physical interaction that you are not willing to participate in. It can be someone groping you (which is also sexual harassment, not that that is any better than SA, of course), or it can be someone touching you in a way that alludes to anything sexual that you don’t want and have said no to, such as someone touching your thigh, backside, chest, etc. and they don’t stop when you say no or try to push them away, and it is never okay. If you have experienced anything uncomfortable, it doesn’t matter if you think you’re overreacting or people won’t believe you. If you are uncomfortable, DO NOT STAY QUIET. I understand, personally, that it can feel like maybe things aren’t as bad as they could be, that it could get worse if you tell someone, but I can assure you, from personal experience, that it won’t get better either if you don’t speak up. Have courage and faith in yourself. Find your strength and be your own hero, all of you deserve happiness and comfort. If someone makes you uncomfortable, tell someone, maybe they’re not aware that they’re making you uncomfortable, or maybe they’re aware and in that case, telling someone is the best thing you can do for yourself because it means that they don’t care for your comfort if they know they’re making you uncomfortable and always remember that consent can be taken back AT ANY TIME!! You can always say no, even if you at first said yes. Always take care of yourself first. It’s your comfort first, then other’s. Speak up because if they’re doing it to you, you may not be the only one. If you’re not going to do it for yourself, then do it for someone else. Help them and yourself at the same time. If your comfort doesn’t matter to you, then focus on other people’s comfort if that’s what it takes for you to be brave. That’s what made me step forward after it had happened to me, the only thing I regret is how long it took me to do so. I love you all and please take care of yourselves, you deserve all the love in the world!<3

She was quiet as she sat on the ground outside. It was night, Maggie and the others were grilling but Daisy had sneaked off, she wasn’t sure if they had noticed or not, not that she particularly cared, all she could focus on was the two graves in front of her, the small dirt mounds. All those names, she didn’t even know everyone’s full name, especially not from back at the prison, ‘Mrs.’ or ‘Mr.’ was all she had to go by, or someone’s mom or dad, but she never forgot them.
“Daisy…?” she looked up from the graves, squinting through the darkness to see Enid walk over, a plate in her hand as she dared to inch closer, sitting down on the ground next to her, putting the plate between the two and Daisy picked up the meat, hesitantly biting into it, only to stare at it with a frown. “What? Y-You don’t like it? Maggie said that-”
“It’s rabbit” she mumbled, Enid frowning at her through the darkness “you-... you can taste that?”
“It’s the first thing I ever caught that Maggie tasted” Daisy admitted, giving Enid a soft yet forced smile before looking back at Glenn’s grave, Enid studying her before looking down “do you love Carl?”
“Do you?”
“No. I mean, not in that way…” she admitted, Daisy nodding ever so slightly, keeping her eyes on the grave “I do” Daisy answered Enid’s original question, Enid giving her a soft smile “I tried to stop him…”
“I know, thank you” Daisy mumbled with a faint smile, sighing softly as she put the meat back on the plate, her smile fading as she thought of the Saviors… David… and the doctor…
“What is it?”
“Hm? Oh, nothing-”
“You don’t have to do that, you know… not with me… I-I mean, if you want, you don’t have to but… you know?” she assured softly, Daisy turning to look at her in the darkness, studying her before looking down. “I’ve never really-... my momma was high more often than she was sober… my daddy didn’t care about me… I didn’t really go to school… I-... w-what I’m trying to say is that I-... I’m not used to talking to someone… I can talk about things but I can’t really talk about things…” she admitted, Enid giving a brief scoff of amusement “me neither… maybe that’s why we could talk about things?”
“Maybe…” Daisy stated with a faint smile, looking down before looking back at the grave, her brows furrowing, tears forming in her eyes and Enid noted how she pulled her knees to her chest, as though trying to shield herself, cut herself off, block any access to her body. “Back there… where I was… it was-.... I hate all of them, Enid… I hate all of them” she muttered with spite, her body shaking with anger “but I hated those two the most” she added in a quiet tone and Enid frowned, making Daisy sigh softly. “There-... there was a doctor back at-... t-they call it the ‘Sanctuary’…” Daisy muttered, Enid staying silent as she watched Daisy, how uneasy she seemed “he-... I-I’m immune, Enid” Daisy admitted, Enid nodding with a soft smile “I know, and I don’t care. I mean, of course I care. I just-”
“No, I know what you mean. Thank you” Daisy stated quietly before sighing “this doctor, he, understandably, wanted to-... see how far my immunity goes… he convinced Negan that I should be-... scratched… I have two other scratches but-... he said it should be on my thigh… he decided where… so-... every time he wanted to see how it was healing, I had to-” Daisy cut herself off, jaw clenched in anger and disgust, tears in her eyes “he’d-... touch my thighs… massage them… he’d tell me how ‘good’ I was being. How ‘well’ I was healing… how ‘special’ I was…” Daisy muttered with disgust, shaking her head to try and make the nauseous feeling go away. “He’d take my blood almost every other day… he’d poke me with a needle and he’d smile that disgusting smile whenever he saw me cry. Afterwards… he’d give me a lollipop and stroke my hair and-” she pressed her lips tightly together, tears running down her cheeks, her fingers digging into her arms, creating crescent shaped marks that almost drew blood, her body shaking by now as she tried to play it off as anger when in truth it was fear. “I can still hear his voice, both of them… feel that doctor’s hands on my thighs… feel David’s hand on my shoulder and in my hair…” Daisy muttered with disgust, flinching when a hand was on her shoulder but she quickly relaxed when Enid pulled her into a hug, Daisy slowly letting herself hug Enid back and once she did, she began to openly sob, burying her face in Enid’s embrace. “It’s okay…”
“I keep hearing his voice… I feel his hands and every time I look at Maggie I see Glenn and when I look at Sasha I see Abraham and then I hear his damn voice again, over and over and over and- D-David he’d-... t-touch me… he’d sniff my hair when I walked by, he’d-... touch my shoulders… he’d lean in really close and whisper in my ear and he’d touch my shoulder and down my arms and my hair a-a-a-and-”
“He’s not here. I promise” Enid whispered, Daisy nodding into her embrace, continuing to sob, both of them unaware of Maggie that had walked over to ask if everything was alright and if they needed something, tears in her eyes as she watched them, a sick feeling taking over and she knew it wasn’t from the baby she was carrying, this wasn’t that kind of sickness, it was a disgusted feeling of pure anger and rage and an urge for revenge.
Yeah…
Revenger definitely sounded quite good right about now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
“Nah, see, gotta get that one first, okay? That one right there” Daryl pointing to a tiny cog inside of the gears of her compound bow, Daisy scoffing “who the hell makes something that small?!”
“Language” Daryl scolded softly, Daisy scoffing with a smirk, shaking her head as she continued to try and map her new bow out in her head, if ever she needed to put one back together… or sabotage one if the Saviors used one…
Her focus shifted as there was an alarm being rung, the Saviors coming closer and Daisy’s eyes widened as she looked at her uncle who grabbed her hand as Enid ran over “where’s Maggie?”
“Come on” Enid hurried, Daisy quickly packing everything that could be seen as hers before following after her uncle and Enid, the three of them finding Maggie, Enid guiding them around a corner just as the cars drove in through the open gates, Daisy feeling her heart race as she hurried down the steps and into the pantry, Daisy being the last one to enter “Enid-”
“I’m okay” she assured, Daisy nodding before hurrying down the steps so Enid could close the shutter doors, Daisy making sure that Maggie was backed up and deep into hiding, Daisy hiding her bow and arrows before getting out her knife, looking at her uncle in the darkness before looking back at Maggie, her eyes moving through the darkness to where she knew Maggie’s stomach was, Maggie quickly cupping her cheek “we’re all fine” she whispered and Daisy nodded, letting out a shaky breath before composing herself. “Uncle Daryl!” Daisy whispered harshly when Maggie didn’t seem to get his attention, his head turning to look at them and she waved him over, finally convincing him to slink back into the darkness with them to hide.
Her heart was in her throat as she watched the door open and the man enter, picking up a bucket and placing it by the doors before looking around, her grip on her knife firm, her palms sweaty as she had her mouth open a little bit on purpose so it made less sound when she breathed, taking light, even breaths through her mouth, her throat felt dry and her lips felt chapped as she stayed behind the shelf with Maggie behind her and her uncle in front of her. Until she saw that the man was carrying Enid’s knife.
The second she saw that knife on the man’s belt, she felt like her lungs couldn’t get enough air in them. Not another person. No one else. She couldn’t lose someone else. Without even realizing it, she slowly advanced once the man had his back turned, unaware that her uncle was doing the same thing, but Maggie had to wrap an arm around each of them to stop them, and it worked, the man leaving the room after taking what he wanted, the door closing and the second she heard the outside shutter doors close, she let out a shaky breath, shaking her head as she clutched her knife even tighter “that was Enid’s knife…”
“Daisy-”
“It’s Enid’s knife, it doesn’t belong to him” Daisy muttered sharply, moving out from hiding to check the door with her uncle, Maggie’s voice distant and muffled as all Daisy could think about was why he had that knife. Why did he have Enid’s knife? She was so busy staring out a hole in the door, keeping watch, that she hadn’t noticed that her uncle was crying, she only noticed when she saw Maggie hug him out of the corner of her eyes. She turned to look at them, Maggie looking at her with sad eyes, reaching out a hand as she hugged Daryl and Daisy watched that hand before looking back out the hole in the door, hesitating before sighing softly, grabbing Maggie’s hand that was still outstretched and Maggie pulled her into a tight hug just as she parted from Daryl, Maggie was about to stroke her hair when she remembered yesterday night… what she heard… and instead she just hugged her.

Examining lunar soil for moon-based construction - Technology Org
Most people are familiar with the iconic photograph of astronaut Buzz Aldrin’s boot print on the moon’s surface. But what, exactly, is in the soil that holds the imprint of that famously “small step for man”?
Sample of a lunar soil simulant in Steven Jacobsen’s laboratory. Illustration by Shane Collins
The answer to this question is more than a fleeting curiosity — it’s essential knowledge for NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to build a permanent base on the moon. While researchers understand the general makeup of the lunar soil, Northwestern University mineralogist Steven Jacobsen has received funding from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center to unravel the mystery of the dubious dust further.
Because the cost of bringing traditional building materials from Earth is incredibly high, NASA has partnered with robotics and artificial intelligence company ICON Technology Inc. to explore new methods for building a lunar outpost using the moon’s own resources. But before ICON can build structures with the moon’s soil, the team must first understand the soil’s exact composition, which can change drastically from one sample to the next.
To characterize these samples, Jacobsen is working closely with his former student Katie Koube, now a materials scientist at ICON, to analyze various samples using Northwestern’s facilities. Their end goal is to create a library of potential sample compositions, which will be used to optimize parameters for the building process.
“Off-world construction comes with many challenges,” said Jacobsen, the project’s principal investigator. “The moon’s soil is not like that on Earth. On the moon, soil is formed from meteoroid impacts that have crushed the surface. So, the moon is essentially coated in a thick layer of pulverized flour. The types of minerals and glass found in lunar soil depend on many factors. The material can vary widely within even a small area.”
Jacobsen is a professor of Earth and planetary sciences at Northwestern’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. He also is a faculty affiliate with the Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy and the Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience. Members of the project also include Laura Gardner and Tirzah Abbott, who are Ph.D. candidates in Jacobsen’s lab.
The dangers of dust
With plans to travel back and forth to the moon more regularly, NASA first needs a reliable landing pad. Otherwise, every time a lunar lander makes contact with the moon’s surface, it will kick up destructive dust that could gum up equipment and damage the surrounding habitat.
“Each particle of dust on the moon is jagged and angular,” Koube said. “When you think of grains of sand on Earth, they are rounded because weathering removes all those rough edges. Without weathering, the particles remain bumpy and sharp. So, if a rocket lands directly on the moon’s surface, it stirs up abrasive dust that basically sandblasts the whole area.”
In November 2022, NASA selected ICON for a $57.2 million grant to develop lunar construction technology. The contract builds upon previous NASA and Department of Defense funding for ICON’s Project Olympus to research and develop space-based construction systems to support planned exploration of the moon and beyond. ICON’s Olympus system is intended to be a multipurpose construction system primarily using local lunar and Martian resources as building materials to further the efforts of NASA as well as commercial organizations to establish a sustained lunar presence. ICON is already using its advanced 3D-printing technology to build homes on Earth. By putting multipurpose in situ resource utilization (ISRU)-based lunar construction systems on the moon, the team aims to use lunar resources as the building blocks for construction.
“It’s not feasible to send traditional Earth-based construction equipment and materials to the moon,” Jacobsen said. “The payload would be too heavy. So, this plan is a lot more practical. Just as the first bricks on Earth were made out of terrestrial soil, the first bricks on the moon will be made out of lunar soil.”
Simulated soil samples
After ICON received NASA’s funding, Koube, who graduated with a dual degree from Northwestern’s materials science and Earth and planetary sciences programs in 2014, contacted Jacobsen to lead sample analysis. The pair assembled a team that works with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, under the Space Technology Mission Directorate’s Moon to Mars Planetary Autonomous Construction Technologies (MMPACT) project.
At Northwestern, analysis is already underway. Gardner and Abbott currently are using various microscopy techniques to analyze eight lunar simulants — faux moon soil that is designed to mimic the real thing — and synthetic plagioclase, a brittle, greyish-white mineral that is a major constituent of moon rock. Then, the team will compare the lunar simulants to actual samples collected from the Apollo missions.
“Of course, we know from Apollo missions what’s in lunar dirt — and that it’s very heterogenous (or variable),” Jacobsen said. “Our job is to anticipate the likely variability in lunar soil and come up with a way to measure it on the fly, onboard the 3D printer.”
So far, the researchers have noticed vast differences among the lunar simulants. In some minerals, the team has detected hydrogen — a component of water, which is not abundant in minerals on the moon. They also are on the lookout for mineral impurities in the simulants that are not expected on the lunar surface. The team can then focus on materials and chemical variations that the construction processes are more likely to encounter.
No scoop is the same
After determining variability in realistic samples, the researchers will probe how the composition of dirt can affect the melting process used in robotic construction. Once on the moon, ICON’s multi-purpose ISRU-based lunar construction systems will scoop up lunar soil and melt it for printing. After printing, the melted dirt will harden and cool into a ceramic material.
“On Earth, you can gather clay and fire it in a kiln to make ceramics,” Jacobsen said. “But the properties of lunar soil are such that it needs to be melted first. Different minerals in lunar dirt melt at different rates, so the 3D-printing process is very sensitive to changes in mineralogy.”
And, of course, no sample is the same. One scoop of lunar dirt might have a different melting point than the next scoop. The 3D-printing technology needs to be nimble enough to know how to handle these subtle differences. That’s where Jacobsen’s sample library comes into play. By enabling the 3D printer to be prepared for all potential compositions, it can perform diagnostics of each scoop and then adjust its laser parameters for heating and cooling.
“Without understanding the characteristics of the soil, it’s difficult to understand the variability of the final printed materials,” Jacobsen said. “Using the library that we create from simulants — cross-checked against the lunar soil — the printer will know how to process each piece to produce the best ceramic. That detailed library of information will play a part in making the imagined outpost a reality.”

I think I secretly wanted this to be 70% comedy. :)

-
(Hopefully by this point you’ve finished all 92 minutes of 'Strange Weather’, the kind of person who isn’t bothered by spoilers, or are just deciding if you still want to keep watching.)
-
-
-
-
-
Even if this film didn’t have the opening scene that ‘Mission: Impossible III’ had, it managed to get my attention when it opened with besties Darcy and Byrd. Well...it opened with Darcy first about to do some ‘gray area’ gardening then was followed by a cheeky conversation about ‘unethical roses’.
And that was enough for me to go: ‘Ohhhh...this is going to be good!’
Unfortunately...that thought got lost somewhere as the film didn’t have a memorable name (maybe in time...It’ll feel ‘right’?), and even if I probably had it in my list...the name or the featured image really didn’t call out to me.
I only found it again when I was going through my Netflix list and realised it was the film I had been looking for awhile now.
And...back to that (sort of) hacking scene: when I rewatched it...I noticed that there was actually a hint when Byrd took a moment to guess what password Walker would have used
PS: Yes...you’ll be hearing this a lot from me...and maybe if enough vocalise a desire for a chance....the bigwigs up in Netflix HQ might see the benefits of implementing an updated algorithm. It takes about a month to go rate all titles, because if it isn’t done...it’s likely that the stuff that I am meant to discover...would end up...undiscovered.
(I would have said that it takes a month if you don’t have any of your Netflix data..meaning you forgot to renew your subscription before it was deleted ---- or a new user. Now? I think it’ll take maybe two or three. I still have my data and I still haven’t finished rating all titles. It is sad that the reality is that I would probably spend 90% of my time rating titles rather than watching them.)
Possible solution? 5 minute total watching time for each title. Because that’s all I need to find out if it’s something I would like to keep watching. And to prevent abuse...there’s a 2 hour waiting time to watch another five minutes (if returning to the same title). If that happens...I can just rate when my subscription is inactive...and once I’ve resubscribed....the recommendations, new titles, and my list....are closer to what I would want to watch
PPS: How’s that I thought that Clayton’s name was Clyde!? :/ It took me noticing the IMDB credits....and...the closing credits to confirm.
Note to parents: You may want to watch this one first on your own before fully deciding which parts are you going to be okay with letting your kids see.
--------
HIGHLIGHT:
INT. BAR - NIGHT
DARCEY is in her own world, cigarette in hand. Mourning what could have been. CLAYTON spots her and approaches.
CLAYTON Hey.
DARCY gives him a glance. No need to really look. She knows who the voice belongs to. She takes another swig of her drink.
CLAYTON Last time I saw that look on your face, it was the night that you broke that menu board over some guy's head when he grabbed your ass when you set down his meatloaf.
She's too far gone to laugh...or even recognise that it was a joke.
CLAYTON I was in the stock room minding my own business, and I heard 'cr-ack'.
He gives her a look. Nope...no one there still.
CLAYTON Cleaved it clean in two.
A nod/grunt from the smoker. So small that it might not have happened.
CLAYTON glances at her again.
DARCY's eyes are still vacant.
CLAYTON Darcy? If you didn't want to see me, what you come in here for?
DARCY It's good to get out of the house sometimes.
He nods.
She stares at her cigarette.
CLAYTON Byrd told me you're worried about your job.
DARCY Town crier.
DARCY motions for a drink refill to the bartender.
CLAYTON Are you going to quit being cryptic or what?
--------
My verdict of the film: 8/10
Link to the timestamp commentary: None (I could have done one for this couldn’t I?)

Doble vistazo.
Double sneak peek. The first one reveals the render of the Wizard Gemstone bearer, Shane Jacobsen, who debuted in the previous teaser. There's a reason I said there would be more drawings of them after the previous post.
In the second, the bearers we have so far, because the 10th of them is coming. And we think we know which one will occupy the vacant position in this drawing, to move on the next 09.
Trivia: Since Saverio & Torcaz share the title as bearers of the Horseshoe Gemstone, they count as one despite being two.

*banned film rec list*
These are not banned films. This is just a list of all MY posts which were either taken down by Tumblr, or that I took down to prevent them spamming my inbox. Basically, so I can tell that if any of my posts are flagged, it means they were flagged incorrectly. (I would like to note that the only posts flagged were ones containing female breasts and that I truly disagree that screenshots of women who consented to being filmed topless in movies which were released in theatres need be banished from my blog. I just thought the cinematography was nice.) So this is a rec list of all the posts that are no longer visible. Many are great films that I adore. If watching a bunch of movies that happen to contain at least one well-framed shot of nudity is your thing, this is a rec list for you. It’s also for me to remember.
