Elia de Gareth e As Crônicas de NightGlen - O Mistério de Shadowthorn #2
Sinopse

Man I sure wish Christians could just be normal sometimes? Obviously this is not directed to every Christian monumentizing a community is gross and icky don't do it. But I am so sick of giving the Christians on the sidelines of my life a chance. Just for them to throw awful manipulative rhetoric in my face. And finding out they were nice to me as a way of proselytizing, it makes me sick. I refuse letting bad faith actors make me bitter and untrusting but man I get it.
I already was sympathetic to how historically insuler our community has been but man do I get it. Do I get it because it's gross. The fact I'm only worth somthing to you when I conform to your narrow idea of life.

The air hisses in a final gurgling breath from the guy under Ichigo, blood bubbling up around the blade of the knife lodged in his chest. Between the blade and the blood slicked hand around his throat, he’d gone from man to corpse in a satisfyingly short span of time.
Ichigo releases his grip, licking blood off his lip and sitting up as he looks around, muscles loosening as the body goes slack under his thighs.
The floor is strewn with other limp bodies, most of them alive-- for the moment at least. Maybe until Shiro decides if they’re going to live or not. But this guy Ichigo decided for himself. He was dead as soon as he went for Shiro. If he’d aimed for Ichigo, he might’ve made the kill. Going the extra step it took to reach Shiro had been a mistake. Ichigo had plenty of time to react, he’d moved almost before his thoughts caught up to his body, before he’d even registered more than a flicker in his periphery.
He’d caught the switchblade, but the steel tip slashed open the skin between his fingers. The cut dripped a steady stream onto dirty cement beside him. He’d see if it stopped bleeding before deciding if it needed stitches.
Ichigo grips his knife in his good hand and tugs, feeling resistance before it pops free of chest and lung with a warm, wet spatter across his jeans.
He looks for Shiro, checking him over before climbing to his own feet. He doesn’t say Shiro’s deal was sideways almost from the start, because it’d just be rubbing it in at this point. Shiro wasn't kidding when he said switching things over would have its own set of problems for Ichigo to cut his teeth on. Not that this seems like a problem anymore. All six assholes are either dead or unconscious or trying to look like one or the other, and he and Shiro are still in one piece.
He shivers as the blood soaking through his shirt goes from hot to cold where it sticks to skin. There’s enough that it shows red, even on black fabric, but it definitely isn’t his.
Ichigo scans what’s left of the room, but stops when he realizes Shiro’s closer than he was a second ago.
Shiro has his own splatter of blood in his hair from Ichigo’s botched attempt to outpace that blade.
He forces a wry smile to cover the next shiver as Shiro takes his hand and flips it over to examine the cut. Probably trying to see if Ichigo is about to lose a finger. “You gonna fuss over me? That’s new.”

FFXIV Write Day 18- Hackneyed
"Curse you, Raevinne Darkblaze Kurosora Shinigami Shadowthorne! I will not lose to you or your secret cursed bloodline technique!" The evil inquisitor Chairbert de Leusagna shrieked in anger at the pulchritudinous maiden charging a massive magical attack in one hand while holding a sword burning with pitch-dark shadowflame in the other. The vile villain charged up another magic attack, as fast as he could, forming a jagged spike of ice that floated over his head for a second before he threw his arm forward and sent the spike hurtling through the air. It pierced through Raevinne's strong but also shapely and alluring form. Seeing the ice spike stab into his fetching foe, Chairbert cackled. "Victory is MIN-"
The evil inquisitor couldn't finish his sentence before he was suddenly pierced from behind by the same shadowflame sword that Raevinne was holding. He coughed up gouts of his vile rotten blood and stared wide eyed as the impaled Raevinne dissolved into a cloud of shadowy butterflies. He could not believe it, that had been a decoy the whole time and she'd teleported behind him!
With her foe impaled on her impressively huge but also graceful and delicate shadowflame sword, Raevinne leaned in and whispered into his ear with her melodious siren-like voice. "'Tis nothing personal, stripling."
Chairbert gasped in pain, his shock at having been so easily bested far surpassing the pain of being impaled by nightsteel and scorched by cursed shadowflame. "I can't believe it!" He gasped through the pain. "The power of cursed shadowflame is not your only secret bloodline technique!?"
"It is not." Raevinne said coolly. "I have six hundred and sixty six secret bloodline techniques."
"IMPOSSIBLE!" Chairbert screamed. "No one can have that many secret bloodline techniques without being consumed by them!"
"Scum such as you could never hope to understand." Raevinne said, her lustrous black lips forming a smile as she twisted her shadowflame blade before putting one of her high-heeled boots on in the Inquisitor's back and pushing him off of the ebon-hued steel and onto the ground, his blood gushing out of the wound and pooling around him as he lay, expiring in the cold Coerthan snow. The vile wretch had never stood a chance, not that he could've known.
"My Lady Raevinne Darkblaze Kurosora Shinigami Shadowthorne!! Help!!" Dancing Albatross, one of Raevinne's bumbling yet well meaning hangers-on shouted as she tried in vain to fend off one of Chairbert's minions. A suit of living armor with a large axe, that it was swinging with reckless abandon at the hapless Roegadyn fighting it. Albatross was trying her best, but being such a straightforward brute, she could not grasp how to combat an opponent of a magical nature.
With a quiet sigh, Raevinne rushed to Albatross' side, gracefully loping across the snow with her long, yet shapely legs, stepping so lightly as to not even leave tracks as she swiftly closed the space to her distressed follower. With a flick of her wrist, Raevinne swept her immaculately manicured nails through the side of the living armor, causing the magical construct to split open and its soul to perish in a shower of purple sparks. As the enemy perished, Dancing Albatross could only stare in wide-eyed admiration at the incredibly graceful, powerful and beauteous knight's effortless defeat of a foe she had no hope of overcoming.
"My Lady!!" Albatross exclaimed, throwing herself to the ground at Raevinne's feet. "You have saved me yet again, my adoration of you knows no bounds! But T'ali and Cassius are also in danger and without your help I fear that they will also perish!" The Roegadyn crawled forward, groveling at the elegant knight's feet. "I know you told us to stay out of this battle, and you were completely right, but we could not let you face this implacable foe alone!"
Raevinne looked down, regarding the pitiable form of the Hellsguard prostrating herself at her feet. She re-sheathed the shadowflame blade, causing its umbral fire to coalesce into a set of spectral wings behind her. A faint smile gracing her immaculate features, she spoke softly. "I understand, but you all must trust my judgment and know your limits."
As much as it pained Albatross to admit it, Raevinne was right, as she so often was. The Hellsguard nodded at the munificent, transcendentally ethereal knight, who looked towards the horizon, sensing the locations of the other two bumbling followers before vanishing in a flash, moving so quickly as to be practically invisible.
It was a trivial matter for Raevinne to sense the location of T'ali and Cassius, as weak as their aetheric signatures were, her preternatural senses could detect even the faintest of traces of aether. The two were surrounded by a horde of undead that had no doubt been conjured by Inquisitor Chairbert before Raevinne had dispatched him with incredible ease.
Cassius, a former Garlean legionnaire turned deserter who, when given a choice between fight or flight, would often choose the latter to the dismay of his companions, was fighting with his signature gunblade, a crude weapon for those who lacked the acumen to wield blade and magic. T'ali on the other hand, was fighting enthusiastically with her bare hands, as was her wont. Though they struggled mightily, they were slowly losing ground to the undead horde that now threatened to overwhelm them.
"It looks like this is the end of us!" Cassius said as he fired the last round from his gunblade into a shambling zombie. "If only we had been stronger!"
"Don't give up, Cassius!" T'ali shouted back at the Garlean as she fended off as many Zombies as she could with ferocious but inelegant punches and kicks. "We need to fight as hard as we can so we can live up to the example set by Lady Shadowflame and be worthy followers to her!"
It seemed grim, but as surely as they would've been doomed without her, victory was all but guaranteed when Lady Raevinne Darkblaze Kurosora Shinigami Shadowthorne arrived, appearing in a flash of shadowy flame between the exhausted duo and the wall of ravenous undead.
"Lady Raevinne Darkblaze Kurosora Shinigami Shadowthorne!!" The two shouted in sync as the stunning swordswoman of that very name appeared before them.
"Looks like I'm a little late." Raevinne said calmly, turning her head to look at the two out of the corner of her eye and smirking.
"No way, you're right on time, just like you always are!" T'ali exclaimed, pumping her fists enthusiastically. "Cassius was about to wet his trousers, though!"
"I was not!" Cassius shouted back, blushing furiously. He didn't want to be made out to be a coward in front of Raevinne, even if he had been terrified mere moments before. "I wasn't scared in the slightest because I knew Lady Shadowthorne was going to save us."
"Stand back." Raevinne instructed the two, who both quickly followed her orders and retreated as far back as they could. The sublime half-voidsent, half-auspice, half-elezen reached up to her chest where a magical circle appeared over her heart. She plunged her hand into the circle and pulled out an extremely sharp six-fulm Katana that was wreathed in purple flames. She took the blade in one hand and pointed it at the undead. "You've threatened my loyal followers. You are hereby sentenced to re-death upon the blade of Mugen-no-Tsurugi." Upon hearing the name, the monsters halted their advance and began to tremble in fear. For even though their souls had left their bodies, they remembered true fear when they laid eyes upon the sword said to be so sharp that it could slash infinity itself.
"Begone from this place." Raevinne said as she began sheathing her katana.
Cassius blinked, not sure why Raevinne had issued a threat and then hadn't attacked the undead. "Don't just sheathe your sword! They're going to attack again!"
"Wait!" T'ali shouted. "Lady Shadowthorne has already attacked them all! She did it faster than our eyes could see!"
The Miqo'te was right. As soon as Raevinne sheathed her katana completely, thousands of slashes suddenly appeared on the undead, slicing them into ribbons as they exploded into viscera and blood that went flying everywhere, except for onto Raevinne.
Cassius and T'ali stood there covered in gore, but also stunned by the incredible display of martial prowess they had just witness.
"You guys!!" Dancing Albatross shouted in the distance. The Roegadyn came running through the snow towards the three, huffing and puffing. "I'm so glad you're okay!"
"Yeah, we're fine." T'ali replied, wiping the zombie blood off of herself. "There's no way Lady Shadowthorne would lose to anyone!" The Miqo'te grinned and pumped her fist into the air. "Three cheers for Lady Shadowthorne!!'
"HIP HIP HOORAY!!"
~*~*~
"And thus concludes the final chapter of 'Dawn of the Shadowthrone'." Odette said, shutting the book of that very name with a satisfied smirk. "It's the first in a quadrilogy, the Shadowthrone quadrilogy."
The Eorzean Odd Jobs office was awkwardly silent. Odette had decided to hold an impromptu reading of her newest work, and had deigned to do so while Darius, Twilight Dove, and Sudeki were in the office on other business, effectively trapping them into being her audience for the very first reading of the latest of Raevinne Darkblaze Kurosora Shinigami Shadowthorne's grand adventures.
The silence that hung over the room dragged on, and on, interrupted only by the faint scratching of the pen in Darius's hand as the Hyur pored over expense forms and invoices relating to recent jobs. Odette snorted arrogantly at the long pause. "At a loss for words, I take it? Understandable." She tucked the book under her arm, her smirk widening into a condescending grin as she regarded the three- Darius at his desk, and then both Twilight Dove and Sudeki lounging on one of the couches. The former smiling nervously on one corner of the couch and the latter sprawled across the rest of it, lazily munching on some sort of dried fish. "As daunting as it may seem to analyze my works, don't hold back, I'd love to hear what you all thought."
Another awkward silence followed, this time much shorter as Twilight Dove cleared her throat and spoke up, unable to endure the awkwardness any longer. "Ahem. It was... Uh." She paused, trying to word her opinion as carefully as she could. Finally, the Hellsguard decided on making an objective statement instead of giving an opinion. "It sure had a lot of action!"
"Indeed it does." Odette replied proudly. "Normally my works are a touch more cerebral, because as you know, Lady Raevinne Darkblaze Kurosora Shinigami Shadowthorne is an expert in the fields of aetherology, mysticism, deduction, seduction, dark alchemy, statecraft, and skullduggery to name a few. But I opted instead this time to show off her martial prowess. Give her fans a little variety, as it were." The young Elezen then turned her condescending gaze to Darius. "And you, Darius, what did you think?"
"S'good." Darius replied flatly, not even bothering to look up from his paperwork. "Good job."
Odette narrowed her eyes at the Hyur's dismissive response. Surely he hadn't been preoccupied with something else the whole time? He wouldn't dare to not pay attention. No, that wasn't it. There was no way anyone wouldn't be able to listen to that tale with anything short of rapt attention. The problem here was a matter of ineloquence on Darius's part. The Elezen decided to be magnanimous and simply offered a shrug in response. "Yes, well. I am not surprised you enjoyed it, now-"
Before Odette could redirect her attention to her final audience member, Sudeki's hand shot up. "Alright, I got a few things to say." The Miqo'te kicked her legs up and flipped upright, sitting cross-legged in the middle of the couch as she thumbed a few crumbs of food from the corners of her mouth.
"By all means." Odette replied, closing her eyes and smirking proudly in anticipation of the effusive praise she would no doubt be receiving.
"Alright..." Sudeki said, holding her hand up and unfolding her index finger as she began to count off her comments. "First, I think Raven Shadowman or whatever her name is is kinda boring."
Odette's eyes snapped open, but her smirk remained plastered on her face. What was that?
"Like... She's never challenged by anything or anyone she fights." Sudeki continued. "I think it's more excitin' when you're not sure if the hero's gonna win, right? But Shadowface beats everyone without even tryin'."
Odette's eyes opened wider, her gaze slowly shifting to the Miqo'te perched in the middle of the sofa.
"Second, I don't really like how explainy everyone is when they talk." Sudeki said, unfolding her second finger. "They're always stoppin' to explain what their attacks 'n stuff do." She furrowed her brow. "If someone did that to me I'd just punch their face in while they were talkin'."
Beads of sweat began forming on Odette's brow, her gaze intensifying.
"Third... I'm pretty sure that story was almost exactly what happened when we fought that inquisition guy in Coerthas after we rescued you from those kidnappers." Sudeki unfurled her third finger. "Except you got some details wrong, like there weren't any monsters and you only killed the inquisitioner. Me, Darius, 'n Dove killed all the other bad guys."
The Miqo'te unfurled her fourth finger. "Fourth... Shadowform's friends? Followers? They're real dumb 'n useless. Like the only reason they're around seems to be to follow Shadowfart around 'n talk about how cool she is, but they're dead weight. Every time they join in on a fight, they need to be rescued. They suck."
The young Elezen's face slowly began to turn an unpleasant shade of red.
Sudeki's thumb unfurled. "And lastly... Did it say Shadowfax was a half-voidsent half-auspice half-elezen?" The Miqo'te scoffed. "Dunno how anythin' can have three halves. Seems kinda dumb if you ask m-"
"THAT'S QUITE ENOUGH." Odette shouted, glaring at Sudeki with wide, bloodshot eyes. The Elezen huffed, utterly indignant at the frankly baseless and ignorant criticisms leveled towards the literary opus she had just recited to her so-called friend. "I read this to you because I thought you could appreciate it but I guess this is what I should've expected from someone who is borderline illiterate."
"You ASKED our opinion!" Sudeki shouted back, clenching her hand back into a fist and pounding it down onto her leg. "I was just tellin' you my thoughts, it's not like this is already published or anythin', right?"
...
...
"It's not already published, right?"
Odette suddenly spun on her heel and snorted haughtily. "Enough of this witless palaver! I-I have more important things to do than listen to the ravings of a... a... a!" The Elezen tucked the book tightly under her arm and quickly rushed out the door, kicking it open and hurrying out into the hall, nearly bowling over Samga as she went running down the hall, her footsteps thumping off into the distance.
The young Xaela stepped into the room, frowning after Odette. Once she was inside, she pointed after Odette and shot an inquisitive glance at Sudeki.
"She's just mad I didn't like her book." Sudeki said with a shrug, flopping back down onto the couch.
"Hm.." Samga lowered her hand and entered the room, walking over to the couch and rapping her knuckles against Sudeki's legs, prompting the Miqo'te to lift them so Samga could sit down. "She read it to me earlier." She said as she took her seat. "It sucked."
"Did you tell her that?" Sudeki asked, flopping her legs back down onto Samga's lap.
Samga nodded.
"Did she get mad?"
"She called me illiterate then said she was gonna publish it and sell a million copies just to spite me."
Another awkward silence followed.
"Hey, Dove." Darius said, breaking the silence as he looked up from his paperwork. "Do we get any cut of those sales?"
Dove furrowed her brow and scratched her chin. "Ten percent, I think?"
BANG! Darius's hands suddenly slammed down on the desk as the Hyur stood up and thrust an accusing finger in Sudeki and Samga's directions. "How DARE you two think to stifle a young creative, striving to express herself! I love those books!" The Hyur quickly stepped around his desk and hurried to the door, turning to glare back at the two girls sitting next to Twilight Dove. "You should never criticize a source of passive income until you've tried to create the same!" He then stepped out of the office, slamming the door behind him.

Sometimes I just think about how ichigo and grimmjow both have/had five friends/companions who they fought/travelled together with but ichigo's friends vowed to grow stronger so they could fight along side him as equals where as grimmjow's fraccion gave up the possibility of growing stronger in order to support his growth

So, about max and her monologue about billy, it's not that I dont believe max could feel such a way or that it doesnt make sense (honestly I would be a liar if I said I haven't also wished my shitty brother dead before) but it also feels a little off to me considering how their relationship was presented in s3.
At first I thought maybe i had misinterpreted it, maybe max and billy really did hate each other right up until the moment of his death. But then i remembered this interview with sadie sink from 2019 where she spoke about max and billy going into s3
I didnt expect them to be best friends or even particulary close with each other (and I had a strong feeling billy was gonna die anyway) but I remember feeling hopeful when I read this interview, hopeful that we'd at least get to see a different side to their relationship, and I was massively disappointed when s3 barely focused on them at all.
But, the small glimpses that we did see proved that they were in a different place than they had been in s2
When max talked to el about billy she spoke in a lighthearted manner, she wasnt resentful, she made jokes, she talked about him like he was just her annoying gross older brother who liked to walk around without a shirt on and bring girls home to make 'happy screams'
And then, of course, theres the sauna test. She was visibly distressed upon seeing Billy in that state. She was in pain. She started crying. She said, "it's okay... i believe you... we're going to figure this out together okay" like she actually wanted to help him, save him...
And thats why it feels weird to me. Not because feelings are complicated and that a few peaceful months between them dont erase everything he put her through, but because she apparently went from we'll figure this out together to I dont know if he deserved to be saved in the space of three days.
And when I say it feels weird, I think what I mean is ffs a little consistency would be nice
