So something interesting I noticed is that in Dream No More ending Black Egg dissolves after Knight kills Radiance but the same thing doesn't happen in Embrace the Void ending.

I think the reason it doesn't dissolve in the Embrace the Void ending is because Hornet isn't inside the Black Egg therefore Knight doesn't need to save her.

What do you think?

Possible, although I think the reason is because the void emerges back into the waking world through godseeker instead of through the hollow knight

In other words, that isn't exactly the egg dissolving, but the void destroying it from the inside

in reference to the post about oro,

We do have one character that was presumably trained by oro, since lost kin/broken vessel used dash slash, as well as a similar overhead swing to sly.

The fools probably were too lost in their infected fervor to seek any training from oro who's quite hidden away.

Broken vessel's "dash slash" isn't actually the nail art, as it doesn't involve the focusing of aura which is the key feature of nail arts

It is just a regular dash + slash

I love all the post canon fanarts of The Hollow Knight with bandaids and a prosthetic arm, but it would probably go like this

You know, i often see this detail dismissed, and is such a cool detail so let me self indulge:

First of all, vessel's cloaks are biological, they have it from birth and is inherited from their father (just like their body type)

Second, they are wings, but require monarchwings to be consumed in order to work properly either because void fucked them up or they are vestigial (and therefore would always have been disfunctional)

Third and last, the monarchwings don't *transform* the cloak, just hold the strands together and gives more propelling area (the lighter almost white color is because of the monarchwings own bioluminescence)

Outlined in red, you can see the cloak (biological wings) and in green the actual monarchwings, just as described in the inventory (ethereal, flashing)

These "cocoons" and husks are also in howling cliffs, with no carts or barrels around, so yeah I'm certain they aren't just different kinds of barrels

How are they so quickly fossilized? my guesses are either the burial method making the process faster, or an inherent property of the region (there's just so much fossilized stuff in the game), or a combination of the two

Either way, I'd still guess these are older than the kingdom or at least older than the bodies we see in resting grounds; maybe even from the ancient civilization (not all of the bugs in that era were necessarily giants, judging by the totems and little remaining architecture)

"wrapping up a bug before putting it into a coffin" isn't necessarily a hallownest only thing anyways, wether inherited or not

talking about the godseekers...

coffins in this world are called cocoons (which on itself has juicy implications about beliefs related to the afterlife)

and dont these...look like cocoons?

this of course implies hallownest bugs unearthed these burials when building the crossroads, perhaps as an unexpected discovery, and left them to the side of the roads as eye catching decoration

at the very least thats my theory

Mantis village is an impressive settlement entirely made out of wood (shellwood?) and bone...but where did all this wood come from?

Well, the village is located in fungal wastes

and what's a thing fungus really likes to grow in? wood

fungal wastes is surrounded in two fronts by former greenpath territory, now claimed by the queen and the kingdom

there's also the original concept of fungal wastes belonging to greenpath itself, traces of which still remain in the asset names

and there's also these long, thick masses of fungus in the far background

which in my opinion are likely to have massive rotten roots within

Frigid Steel, Boiling Wraith

Thinking about how pale ore is eerily chill to the touch

about how PV's spells, likely learnt from its father, take on the same shape as nails made out of an ore allegedly related to its parents

about how those spells are pretty much a solid state of soul for a few moments about how solid state of matter is often the most "cold" state, generally speaking

about how cold it's often associated with lack of emotion and corpses

Also thinking about how the knight's spells, learned from the snails, is more raw, more volatile

stated and shown to literally burn opponents, more of a hot blast than a proper solid mass

shaped and named after haunting ghosts, spectres that do not lay to rest, despite soul itself being present in the whole environment and not necesarily directly linked to sentient beings

about how it is strong emotions what fuels their transformation into their more powerful state through the usage of void, a volatile yet maleable substance, and the opposite of light

I wonder if silksong will also explore void stuff. Before the release trailer, I was pretty sure that ship sailed when the kickstarter goal wasn't met and the void expansion wouldn't be made, but they literally used the abyss ambiance for the date reveal

The coliseum of fools was also an unreached goal

the nailmasters were supposed to be fights rather than cutscenes, and these fights were eventually added to Godhome

the lighthouse in the abyss was originally part of a quest related to gathering flames, this concept was then reused for the Grimm Troupe

So yeah, Team Cherry is known for returning to old concepts, and if they want to do something they'll probably make it as long as they have the time and money

And as you said, the void in the release date is pretty blatant

Possibilities of new void lore are high, if anything
