Draw them in the same au I have for them from last year because why not Caleb is making some drink/potion that will keep them all warm during the winter. Both of them choose to just cuddle Caleb for warmth anyway even after they drank it (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

The fact that Essek storms off "in a huff" and is literally brought to tears when he sees Caleb mourning Molly...there's just so many interesting implications for shadowidomauk there.

It's the fact that Essek saw Caleb kiss Molly on the forehead the way he kissed him--saw Caleb repeat these familiar phrases in battle to Lucien that he once used to comfort Essek. Essek learning Caleb's love language, and seeing it reflected in how he treats Mollymauk.

It's Essek seeing Caleb at his lowest, at his most desperate and hopeless--how very wrong it feels to see him like this, how painful it is to watch him fall apart over losing Mollymauk. "Caleb Widogast, have you ever accepted defeat?"

Because of all things, it is Molly's death that leaves Caleb more brokenhearted than Essek's ever seen him, the only time he's ever truly admitted to knowing defeat--"Maybe today. For the first time." The way Caleb came all this way and tried so desperately to save him, and it still wasn't enough. He poured his whole heart and soul into that ritual, and it just wasn't enough.

Essek being moved by the Nein's own grief, choked up and crying for this person that he never even met. Insisting over and over, "It's not fair--it's not fair...We've just all come so far. It's not fair." And it's the moment that Caleb kisses Molly on the forehead and says his goodbyes that really breaks Essek's heart, the passion and gutting loss of Caleb's own grief that sends Essek storming off and fighting back tears.

Do you think...Essek ever tells Kingsley what happened that day? How hard Caleb tried to save him--how much it shattered him when Tealeaf was still lying dead in his arms? Do you think he ever told King about the forehead kiss and how tender Caleb was with him--how he must surely love him? Do you think Essek admits that even he was crushed when Tealeaf didn't wake, that he never knew him before, but still mourned him all the same?

Do you think he ever quietly tells Kingsley that he's happy he came back, how much it means to him--especially for Caleb's sake--

Do you think Kingsley ever kisses either of the wizards on the forehead and everything just. Kinda falls into place for Essek--

I’m on my shit again so bear with me.

Do you think that if Caleb had been given the power to go back in time and save Molly from the death that he had, would he? Would he hold his cheek and stroke the sweat stuck curls from his forehead like the first time Molly had broken Caleb out of his mind in that cave. Would he have told Molly that he would be okay and that they would take care of the rest as Molly fell into unconscious sleep. Would Caleb Widogast have shouted for Molly to take care of his health instead of using that Blood Curse? Would Caleb Widogast finally get to truly thank the person that sent him on a journey of healing and family?

Alternatively would Molly have held Essek’s hands as Caleb told him he was not truly evil deep down in the hull of that fateful ship. Would Essek have seen the bright colourful tiefling and seen the most in a second lease on life. Would Essek have gotten to walk alongside the saviour of his saviours.

Would Mollymauk Tealeaf have been loved so fiercely by people who owe so much of their growth to a silly carnival barker? What if given the time they had been allowed they went to love and be loved without fear of death stealing it away?

None of this makes sense but… I’m in my feelings about what could have been with shadowidomauk.

Mollymauk Tealeaf is the reason Caleb Widowgast forgave himself and you cannot convince me otherwise.

When Caleb first met the Nien he was so afraid they would clock his criminal past he intentionally self issolated. And if Mollymauk hadn't been such a cocky ass, and literally forced him to open up about his issues he would have abandoned the Nien.

Yeah, they beefed, but you have to think about the weight of the guilt Caleb was carrying around versus Molly’s ‘dont worry be happy’ lifestyle it's honestly impressive they didn't PVP.

Molly comforts Caleb in one of his darkest moments and I believe it is bc Molly has at least a few of Luican’s memories and he can see Caleb’s pain and just cannot let him suffer alone.

But, most importantly, Mollymuck dies. And that really changes Caleb he realizes just how finite life is and I think he's kind of forced to keep Molly’s memory alive. Like, Caleb before Glory Run Road would have wasted 0 time going after Jester, Fjord, and Yasha. But watching Molly fall he is forced to forgive himself in order to “Leave the world better than he left it”.

He and Beau become besties because they're both left to face the reality that the only kindness they had ever known in their life was a conman teifling.

It really pisses me off that Molly died bc I really and truly believe that he and Caleb would have fallen in love.

CALEB MADE A TRANSMUTER STONE WITH THE PLAN TO RESURRECT MOLLY. GUYS! He carried the fucking stone around for at least 80 eps. He was the only one to mention the possibility of Molly being alive he never gave up on them.

I think Fjord saw it… ya know Molly and fjord were rommies and surly they talked bc when Caleb is using The Stone and that crazy spell (I can't recall the name) and it didn't work he comforted Essek. I think he was comforting Essek not bc Caleb wanted Molly back but bc Essek was morning for Caleb like without it having to say it out loud Fjord saw Calebs heartbreak and knew that Essek needed someone to check in.

Like please don't lie to me, Essek Molly and Caleb would have been world shattering

I think the wizards should kiss as a treat. I also think they should explore the full extent of Aeor and perhaps commit a couple lite war crimes as another treat.

Like a honeymoon.

And then they should bring the purple tiefling and all three of them should kiss and hold hands. As a treat for me.

FICLET FRIDAY | Home Is Where The…

“Move over.”

The words came only seconds before a leg pushes into the lack of space between all the pillows, cats, and two bodies. The cats are the first to startle, Ava jumping down to the floor to arch her back in a stretch and swish her tail as she resettles on the carpet. Olly tumbles from the precarious cradle of someone’s knee and catches himself with claws on the blanket before hopping back into the jumble.

The leg belongs to a body that flops down in between the two others. “Any blanket to spare, or are you hogging it all for yourself?”

Caleb levels Mollymauk with a bemused expression. “Perhaps with a little warning, space would have been made.” He shuffles as much as he can on the small couch, pulling his legs in to let Molly lean back into the space.

“And what’s the fun in that?” They pat Caleb’s thigh, now easily in reach, and turn to the other couchfellow. “Oh hello, bedhead. Did I wake you? I didn’t know you actually slept.”

Essek huffs out a fond noise. “Then I guess we shall give away the large bed upstairs, if it seldom needs use by three.” He reaches up to try and smooth the mussed curls of his hair, his sideways position upon the pillows having squished any style down into a pancake.

Molly catches his hand. “I’m teasing. Leave it, you look cute like this.” They twine their fingers against Essek’s own.

“Well, I was going to make room for you, but you’ve rather taken away the ability of my hand.” Essek tugs on Molly, who repositions to let Essek drape his legs across their lap.

Caleb scoops up Olly, who mrrps in confusion before settling back to sleep in the crook of Caleb’s arm. “Want a cat blanket?”

“I’ll never say no.” Molly laughs as Olly is deposited without even waking; he simply flops to his back to show stomach fluff to the sky. “This little one loves people so easily, doesn’t he.”

“Reminds me of someone.” Caleb smiles, all years of fondness in the crinkle of his eyes.

Just as he’s spooning sugar into his steaming mug of coffee, the door to the room swings open and Molly bursts in in a flurry of shiny, jewel-toned fabric, jingling gaudy jewelry, and body glitter. They don’t glance over at him, heading straight for the bed and starfishing onto it facedown the moment they reach it. Another sigh immediately builds on Essek’s lips, spilling out tinted with concern. While on a publicity tour for their music career, Molly has an interview with Scanlan Shorthalt. It doesn't go well. Essek comforts them in the aftermath.

Hello all! My first fic of the year is my contribution to the Soup Cult's holiday/winter potluck event, as well as a very longstanding WIP of mine; the musician Molly AU, aka Glitter Slug Molly (you will see XD). I am terribly fond of this one and I hope you enjoy it!

We've seen how confrontational Astrid and Essek become at the mention of Caleb, all the bad blood that still lingers--all the wounds left behind by the Cerberus Assembly that still fester, their warring ideals and beliefs, the immense danger and risk they each pose to one another. To Essek, Astrid and Wulf are forever entangled with the root of Caleb's trauma, inexorably intertwined. And when Astrid ascends to her seat as archmage of the Cerberus Assembly, it only furthers Essek's mistrust and wariness.

And just...thinking of how Kingsley starts flirting with Caleb immediately, falls in love with his dear Magician all over again. Essek who saw all the cruelness of Lucien, and yet is still so taken by the Nein's love for Mollymauk--the soft words of comfort and gentle forehead kiss Caleb gives him.

He's moved to tears by Caleb's own gutting grief, his heartbroken goodbye and loving tenderness. Essek who cries out that, "It's not fair"--how relieved was he, when the tiefling started to stir? When Caleb threw his arms around both Essek and Veth as he looked on at his Circus Man with such warmth and affection--"and watch the others descend on Mollymauk."

Essek and King running into each other over the months, over the years. Essek growing accustomed to the charming rogue's affections, the way Caleb always indulges him. King who never misses the chance to flirt with his Magician, playful and teasing, pretty words and a tender kiss on the forehead. Essek who is startled when Tealeaf starts to treat him the same, throwing his arms around the other wizard and insisting they go out for drinks.

Essek being able to connect with another friend who fell for Caleb, bonding over their mutual affection and ridiculous adventures with the Nein. Essek seeing someone else who loves Caleb--but would never hurt him, someone he trusts and grows to care for. Two of Caleb's partners bonding and becoming close, all three of them building a little life together--

I'm open to a lot of ideas, I just love writing ♡ And rp is how I relax, it's a place I can let go in and explore various topics. I've been role-playing for 11 years, and I adore it! Stories can be spicy, dramatic, mysterious, slow burn...I love AU's that let me explore how characters might act or change depending on the environment and circumstances.

Roleplay is done in 3rd person POV past tense, it's my default and easier for a lot of people. I do not require "length matching", I have a degree in creative writing so if your response is done at 1 or 2 paragraphs that's great! My nerd ass will send 3-5 paragraphs bc I like ~details~ and ~setting the scene~

I would prefer rp partners be 20+ in age since I do rp nsfw and dark content. I'm more than happy to discuss boundaries and themes to avoid!
