what was riku's reaction when he made a semi-living being out of his feelings for sora in neverland? did maleficent teach him this, or was riku in his room for hours, shifting and crafting the darkness until some semblance of his best friend formed? did he fuss over every detail? (his hair parts this way/his lips are more rounded/he has more baby fat here) did he cringe away at those yellow eyes at first? that hollow voice that was and wasn't sora at the same time? did he fight with it? yell at it? pound his hands against a ribcage that sucked in every hit and just stood there with sora's stupid smile on it's face?

did he hold it tight in his arms, begging the shadow to say 'I love you'?

did he cry as it said nothing?

Cinematic Parallels

This may be the hottest of hot takes but Maria is by far the best animated Sonic character in the modern games. Just look at this animation.

Do you notice how her pupils shimmer like an anime character whenever she’s emotional? Her design HAS to be inspired by Kingdom Hearts characters along with some amazing 2D artwork.

I say this not only because I love how gorgeous her model is, but also because I believe while Shadow is more expressive then he’s ever been in the in-game cutscenes, I think Maria’s face allows her to have more expressive range. (She’s a human character so that might make it easier)

Same goes for Sonic characters in Frontiers because I think they are a bit more limited than the human characters despite being better animated there too. I’m so glad human characters other then Eggy gets some time to shine.
