Part 3 of my God and Goddess paintings! - Erebus, the primordial god of darkness and the consort of Nyx. His dark mists encircled the world and filled the deep hollows of the earth.
Erebus is one of the gods I have not seen depicted in art very much out of most of the primordial gods I've researched for this project. I was completely lost on what to do with him but I knew one thing I wanted was for him to have a dark shadowy prescence in this painting.
I absolutely love his glowy sets of eyes and large feathery wings. He is truly one of the most interesting gods I've painted and I'm so glad I was able to depict him in the way I saw him in my head.
I'm going to be doing Ananke next! I can't wait for you all to see her. 🖤
Pose I referenced from Null-Entity on dA

This is the simplified story I came up with for my tiefling character Atlas who is a warlock, I think it's just a really funny DnD concept in general.
Tiefling baby abandoned in the forest by the human parents after they realize their baby's a tiefling and decided nope not my baby anymore, because for some reason people in the world of D&D don't like tieflings. Then the god of Shadows hears this baby crying in the middle of this dark forest, not knowing what the sound is goes to check it out finds the baby and just decides "welp be your mind now". Ends up taking baby to random orphanage ran by this old lady because why would the god of Shadows know anything about raising a baby, let alone taking care of a mortal. And then with the old ladies help ends up raising the child, and essentially becomes their dad. And that's how they became the patron to my tiefling warlock, who is also an artificer.
Which then puts the really funny image in my head of this little demonic tiefling baby sitting in a dark corner talking to seemingly no one, tinkering with little machines, trinkets and toys. and then when someone asks who he's talking to, little baby Atlas turns around revealing these solid black eyes and in the sweetest most childish voice replies with "the shadow man" with a little cheeky grin at the end.
He thinks he's being polite and nice and just answered the question, but little does Atlas know he just absolutely traumatized this random stranger.
